Take the Helter Skelter Tour!

When i knew i was coming to L.A this is the first thing i booked!.I read Helter Skelter when i was 16 and it scared the hell out of me.Scott is so informative, like he says on the DVD you could not make this stuff up.The LaBiancas house is unchanged as is El Coyote. This is a multi media tour so he runs video clips of Sharon and Jay plus news footage of the time. Its weird driving up Cielo Drive knowing the killers walked up there. If you love all aspects of this vital part of L.A history then this trip is a must.Scott is a real nice guy as well. Thanks we had a fantastic day!

This is a real class act, the owners of this tour company are friendly, fun, passionate, well informed and full of unpalatable facts about many of the gruesome and horrific deaths and murders that have occurred in this seemingly innocent area...sites of interest include the place Sharon Tate had her last meal, the scene of River Phoenix's death (Viper Rooms) and there is even a recording of the 911 call from the night of River's death. Well worth a go and be sure to get a window seat! Ps, Brian the tour guide is the nicest guy ever and really knows the ins and outs of Hollywood. If not for Brian we would never have known the GI Joe premier was happening and would never have got to see Bruce Willis and The Rock in the flesh. And don't forget to pick up a little delightfully tasteless souvenir from the office when you get back :-)

It was my second time on this tour and it was as good as the first time? Brian, the guide, was an expert in everything that once has been published on the tabloids in LA and vicinity. He was very entertaining and informed us with many interesting details unknown from the public. My only complain is that the Helter Skelter tour only runs on Saturdays.

Stars and praise for Dearly Departed. I've been on their tour a few times over the years...starting out when it was Graveline Tours. I never tire of it and could drive around LA with their tour guide Brian for hours on end. The tour content is brought to life by Brian who is very likeable and full of enthusiasm. He's well researched and quite entertaining. You'll be sad that your tour ends, but you'll have plenty to chat about afterwards.

This tour should be required for all newly minted celebrities. This is a great tour - for everyone. I took it based on the other reviews and I was completely enthralled. The tour guide, Brian Donnelly, really knows his stuff, and his presentation is beyond entertaining. The subject matter is intriguing and provocative. The pace is spot on. This is like a really cool high school history and mass media class for adults! I highly recommend it!!! To augment the tour experience, each person has a binder of photographs to coincide with the scenes and stories at each location. While others were correct in saying the tour van isn't the most comfortable on a hot day - it was certainly bearable given the production value of the tour content. Here's what I experienced and why I liked the tour: Most fascinating recent story - The Rihanna & Chris Brown incident scene. Most dramatic locations - River Phoenix sidewalk death scene and John Belushi bungalow #3 gate scene. Most chilling coincidence - Menendez home is where Nicole Simpson and OJ had an event for their baby many years before the Menendez murders took place - and someone still lives in this exact same home! Scary! Coolest simple yet elegant home - Francis Ford Coppola, tied with Paul Newman. Most interesting high dollar residences - Simon Cowell's current home and Michael Jackson rental home where he died. Most revelatory concept - celebrities have been killing themselves with booze and drugs for 70+ years - all new celebrities should be required to take this tour and think about it for awhile. Coolest hidden homes - Johnny Depp, MJ, Belushi bungalow. Coolest unhidden homes - Coppola, Newman, Cowell, Menendez. Coolest Architecture - Frank Lloyd Wright designed home, Scientology Center. Most intriguing mystery - Why did Roman Polanski have his last meal in America at El Coyote? Most enlightening history - Stephen Stills song lyrics 'something going on here' from the riot at the intersection. Favorite movie and TV scenes - balcony scene from Pretty Woman, the central location of Desilu Studios where 'I Love Lucy' was produced, alleyway from 'Down and Out in Beverly Hills.' Most interesting trivia - Beacon light on top of Columbia Records spelling 'Hollywood' in Morse Code, platinum Beverly Hills fire hydrants, Merv Griffin owned the huge house on the hill & The Beverly Hills Hilton. Best advice from the tour guide - Have an opinion and beware Scientology and surveillance. More Best Advice from Brian Donnelly - Take your hometown tour company tour, no matter how well you 'think' you know your town/city. Most amazing aspect of tour - How does this tour guide, who doesn't own a car in LA, do such a masterful job of driving the tour van in busy traffic, follow all the road rules/traffic signals, safely and smoothly, while talking/entertaining/interacting with 12 people onboard? Wow! That's impressive!! Bravo!!!! And Cheers! I will recommend this tour to anyone visiting or living in Los Angeles!

Ive been on this 4 times over the years...its macabre and quirky and strange...all which makes it a must-do LA experience. Let the others go visit movie star homes through the gates...this oddball tour is not to be missed :)
