Fra portvinens fødeby Douro til det UNESCO-fredede vinlandet i Douro-dalen, med vakre barokkbyer, vingårder og idylliske landskaper

Vi begynner i stemningsfulle Porto ved Atlanterhavskysten og seiler inn i det portugisiske vinlandet. Her ligger vinmarkene i grønne, bølgende terrasser oppover åsene langs elva, og vi fortsetter oppover Douro helt til vi når grensen til Spania. Her i Nord-Portugal blir druene til den berømte portvinen dyrket, og når vi vender skuta og går nedover elva igjen følger vi samme rute som den edle drikken tok i århundreder – fra vinbøndene i innlandet til portvinslagrene i Porto.

Tidlig om morgenen drar vi mot fadoens og portvinens hjemland, Portugal. Fra flyplassen kjører vi til det lille hyggelige skipet M/S "Douro Princess", som ligger ved kai i byen Vila Nova de Gaia. Den ligger på den motsatte bredden av Douro, rett overfor storbyen Porto, som gjennom århundrer har vært produksjonsted for den berømte portvinen.

Vila Nova de Gaia er bl.a. forbundet med Porto via broen Ponte dom Luis I. Den ble bygd i 1877 av den samme Gustave Eiffel som senere skulle bli mesteren for det berømte vartegnet i Paris. I tillegg til den vakre utsikten fra Vila Nova de Gaia mot Porto og broene som forbinder de to byene, deler de også en lang, felles portvinhistorie, for det var i Vila Nova de Gaia de forskjellige portvinprodusentene hadde sine vinhus og vinlagre. Frem til 1986 var det til og med fastsatt ved lov at all vin skulle blandes og lagres i Vila Nova de Gaia for å kunne få sertifikat og offisiell godkjennelse som portvin. Det er fremdeles strenge regler og kvalitetskrav som må oppfylles for at vinene skal kunne klassifiseres som ekte portvin. Blant annet må de være fremstilt av druene fra et av verdens eldste demarkerte vinområder, nemlig den UNESCO-fredede Douro-dalen, som vi på dette elvecruiset skal oppleve både fra vannsiden og landsiden.

Om kvelden drikker vi en velkomstskål om bord på skipet og spiser vår første middag sammen. Skipet ligger ved kai over natten i Vila Nova de Gaia. Da kan du bruke tiden til å finne deg til rette i lugaren og eventuelt inspisere omgivelsene, som byr på over femti portvinshus.

Under hele cruiset ligger vi rolig om natten, og derfor har du rik anledning til å gå på oppdagelsestur i byene der vi ankrer opp for natten.

Douro er den tredje lengste elva på den iberiske halvøya og har sine kilder i den nordspanske provinsen Saro. Derfra renner den omtrent 900 km gjennom Nord-Portugal og Douro-distriktet for til slutt å munne ut i Atlanterhavet ved Vila Nova de Gaia. Før jernbanen ble bygd, var elva den veien som gjorde det mulig å frakte portvin fra innlandet ut til Porto og Vila Nova de Gaia. Vintønnene ble fraktet i små flatbunnede trebåter, rabelos, og det kunne være en temmelig farefull tur for mannskapet i tiden før elvas mektige krefter ble temmet av en rekke sluser. Disse slusene får vi også mulighet til å oppleve i funksjon ved selvsyn. Det er en helt spesiell opplevelse når fartøyet stille og rolig stiger opp til de forskjellige nivåene som slusene regulerer.

Vi legger til i Peso da Régua, som med Serra do Marão-fjellene i bakgrunnen ligger fredelig med utsikt mot den vakre elvedalen. Her har du tid til å gå på oppdagelsestur selv, hvis du ikke har kjøpt Albatros' innholdsrike vin- og kulturpakke, som i dag byr på utflukt inn i landet til barokkbyen Lamego.

På vei oppover elva har vi den dramatiske utsikten til vinmarksterrassene, som strekker seg fra elvebredden oppover de møysommelig bearbeidede skråningene som bøndene gjennom århundrene har anlagt og dyrket. Og i dag blir utsikten mot vinmarkene ikke dårligere av at vi ser dem fra land – snarere tvert imot, når det skjer fra den vakre byen Lamego, med en godt bevart arkitektur som går tilbake til barokken og renessansen. Vi besøker den imponerende katedralen i byen og får deretter en smaksprøve på portugisisk kunst i byens museum.

Deretter kjører vi tilbake til skipet, der vi kan se frem til en underholdende aften med folklore-innslag. Skipet ligger ved kai for natten i Peso da Régua.

Vi drar videre til den lille byen Pinhão, som ligger ved en elv av samme navn 22 km fra Peso da Régua, der elvene Pinhão og Douro flyter sammen. Pinhão er sentrum for portvinområdet, med noe av verdens beste jord og optimale værforhold for vindyrking. Byen er stille og rolig, til tider litt søvnig, men hver høst, når vinhøsten begynner, er det hektisk aktivitet.

Dagens Albatros-tilbud byr på et besøk i byens sjarmerende jernbanestasjon, som er kjent for de utsmykkede murene, der man på 25 blåhvite kakler kan se motiver og scener fra livet på landet. Det første toget kjørte ut fra stasjonen 1. juni 1880, og den ble et viktig stopp på jernbanelinjen. Herfra transporterte man vin, gods og passasjerer. Nå er det tid for lunsj, og den nyter vi sammen med en vinsmaking på den lokale vingården Quinta Avessada i byen Favaios. Etter å ha pirret smaksløkene kjører vi tilbake til skipet, som setter kursen mot den spanske byen Vega de Terrón, som vi når om ettermiddagen. Vi ankrer opp for natten i Vega de Terrón, der Douro-elva for en kort stund skifter navn til det spanske Duero.

I dag byr vin- og kulturpakken på besøk i den UNESCO-fredede Salamanca, der Spanias eldste universitet ligger. Salamanca blir ofte omtalt som Den gylne by, for tidens tann har gitt byens historiske sandsteinsbygninger en spesiell gyllen glød. Her kan man snakke om å eldes med ynde!

På byrundturen får vi sett tallrike eksempler på noen av byens vakreste bygninger i den helt særegne spanske platereskstilen – en rikt ornamentert byggestil med arkitektoniske elementer fra den italienske renessansen, og med mauriske og sengotiske trekk.

Vi kommer blant annet forbi den storslåtte Plaza Mayor, som noen hevder er Spanias vakreste, vi ser det gamle universitetet, som ble grunnlagt i 1218, og barokk-kirken La Clereria sammen med den fantastisk flotte "muslingbygningen" Casa de los Conchas, som er utsmykket med muslingskall utskåret direkte i sandsteinsmurene.

Om kvelden er det portugisisk grill på menyen mens vi ligger ved kai i Vega de Terrón.

Dagens utfluktspakketilbud er en liten kulturhistorisk rundtur krydret med opplevelser for smaksløkene også. Vi begynner med å besøke vinhuset Quinta de Seixo, der vi smaker på portvin. Deretter er det tid til å snuse inn den aristokratiske atmosfæren ved det vakre hvite barokkslottet Casa de Mateus og den sirlig og symmetrisk anlagte hagen med minutiøst klippede busker, klukkende springvann og små dammer. Slottet ligger 2 km fra Vila Real.

Deretter kjører vi tilbake mot skipet, men turen er langtfra bare transport; her kan man virkelig lene seg tilbake og nyte de forbipasserende landskapene, som fyller den ene ruten etter den andre med myke åser, vingårder, kløfter og grågrønne olivenlunder. Oppstemt av vinmarklandskapene besøker vi nå Douro-museet. Temaet her er nettopp det UNESCO-fredede Douro-distriktet fra den første vinstokken ble plantet og fremover. Vi vender tilbake til skipet, som ligger ved kai natten over i Peso da Régua.

Etter frokosten går dagens Albatros-tilbud til benediktinerklostret Alpendurada, som ligger i den gamle romerske landsbyen Bitetos. Byen kan by på fortidslevninger med barokk-kirker og smale middelaldergater. Et av de mest populære stedene å besøke er byens kloster fra 1000-tallet. Vi avslutter klosterbesøket med en tradisjonell portugisisk lunsj.

Etter reisen inn i Nord-Portugals vinland vender vi passende tilbake til Porto og Vila Nova de Gaia, slik også vinen fra området gjør det. Her får vi god tid til å fordype oss i den viktige portvinshovedstaden når vi ligger for anker de to følgende nettene.

Dagen i dag er viet til utforskning av de mange severdighetene i den innflytelsesrike og historiefylte byen – dette er byen som i tillegg til å ha gitt portvinen navn også ga selve landet navn.

Vi starter byrundturen i den fargerike og UNESCO-fredede gamle bydelen Cais da Ribeira med smale middelaldergater og fargerike fasader ut mot havnefronten og slutter ved den over 150 år gamle og arkitektonisk vakre bygningen som i dag huser Alfândega kongress-senter.

Vi skal selvfølgelig også smake enda en portvin i kjellerne til det tradisjonsrike vinhuset Ferreira, som stammer fra 1751.

Oppløftet etter vinsmakingen og en lunsj om bord på skipet er det tid til å gå på oppdagelsestur i den spennende byen på egen hånd, eller vi skal kanskje bli med på en av skipets utflukter (kan bestilles og betales om bord på skipet).

Etter frokost går vi fra borde fra M/S "Princess Douro", som har vært vår trofaste følgesvenn i Portugals og Douro-regionens fortreffeligheter. Vi kjører til lufthavnen, der flyet hjem venter.

Om bord på det klassiske elvecruiseskipet M/S Douro Princess venter nydelig utsikt og en avslappende reise. Skipets fire dekk har samlet bare 40 lugarer, alle utvendige, samt restaurant, lounge og panoramabar. Og fra skipets herlige soldekk kan man få frisk luft og nyte utsikten mens skipet glir sakte oppover Douro-elva.

De fleste av Albatros Travels reiser ledes av en Albatros reiseleder som enten møter gruppen i flyplassen før avreise eller ved ankomst til destinasjonen. På våre bussreiser møter dere reiselederen senest ved det siste påstigningsstedet. Sjåføren hjelper til med bagasje, informerer om plassering i bussen og sørger for at dere kommer sikkert fram. Alle reiselederne våre er erfarne, godt utdannede og nøye utvalgt av Albatros Travel.

På ekspedisjonsreiser med Albatros Expeditions bliver du møtt av en engelsktalende ekspedisjonsguide på destinasjonen og det vil også være engelsktalende ekspedisjonsteam som leder utfluktene og holder informasjonsmøtene som inngår på reisen. Vi gjør oppmerksom på at det ikke kan forventes en norsk reiseleder om bord.

Enkelte av reisene våre er uten reiseleder. Det vil alltid fremgå tydelig av programmet om reisen er ledet av en reiseleder eller ikke.

Tillegg for enkeltrom og enkeltlugar

Tilslutning med innenriksfly, reiser med mindreårige, plassering i flyet, måltider om bord, spesialkost, plassering i bussen.

På reiser med fly foregår transporten på destinasjonen ofte med buss. Her kan man ikke reservere en fast plass i bussen, og det er heller ikke mulig å kjøpe en bestemt plass før reisen begynner. Det er selvfølgelig mulig å avtale rokeringer underveis på reisen, så alle på skift kommer til å sitte både foran og bak i bussen.

På de reisene som foregår med buss fra start til slutt kan du reservere en bestemt sitteplass i bussen mot en ekstra avgift. De plassene som ikke er reservert fordeles etter først til mølla-prinsippet. Reisene er markert med «Bussreise» på nettsidene våre.

Forbehold/endringer

Det tas forbehold for endringer i programmet. Albatros Travel og våre lokale samarbeidspartnere streber alltid etter å avvikle reisen nøye i henhold til programmet, men det kan av hensyn til severdighetenes åpningstider eller praktiske omstendigheter være nødvendigt å gjennomføre ruten i en anne rekkefølge enn oppgitt. I tillegg til dette kan programpunkter risikere å utgå på grunn av force majeure-situasjoner som værforhold, veiforhold eller forsinkede flyavganger. Til slutt gjør vi oppmerksom på at alle reiser løpende blir revidert og forsøkt forbedret på bakgrunn av de tilbakemeldingene vi får fra reiseledere og kunder etter hver reise. Revidering av reisen vil derfor medføre at det kan ha oppstått endringer i programmet fra den ble kjøpt til avreisen finner sted. Før avreise vil alle deltakere motta det senest oppdaterte program som har til hensikt å tjene kundenes beste og sikre den mest smidige gjennomføring av reisen. Reisen selges som en hel ”pakke”, og det vil ikke være mulig å refundere de delene av pakken som eventuelt ikke benyttes.

Vi gjør oppmerksom på at kjøpte ekstrautflukter kun gjennomføres ved tilstrekkelig antall påmeldte. Avhengig av tidspunktet for avlysningen blir prisen for utflukten tilbakebetalt til de påmeldte deltagerne enten før eller etter at man har kommet hjem fra reisen.

Itinerary Amendments & Changes

• Occasionally our itineraries are updated prior to departure. This may be to accommodate changes in weather, public holidays, common seasonal changes to timetables and transport routes, and unforeseen circumstances.
• In the event of a change in itinerary (for safety reasons or due to events outside of our control) that results in cancellation or change fees in respect of flights (or other parts of your travel) we will notify you as soon as practicable.

Travel Insurance

Everybody’s talking about Lisbon right now, or so it seems. Interest in the Portuguese capital has exploded in recent years and the city is topping “must-see” lists all over thanks to its alluring combination of mild weather, low prices, friendly locals and easy accessibility. 

Yet constant development over the past decade means that experiences when visiting the city can be a mixed bag.   

Think tourist-trap shops, overpriced bars with cheap wine, overcrowded beaches, brutal parking fines and inedible food. Even if you look to online reviews for guidance it’s still shockingly easy to make bad choices that could potentially ruin your trip.  

The only way to truly succeed is to follow the advice of the people who know what’s good and what to avoid: the locals. Residents of Lisbon are relentlessly social and love going out and engaging with their city – which means they know exactly where to go to find extraordinary food, delicious natural wine, breathtaking views and quiet stretches of sandy beach.  

I recently spent a month in Lisbon, visiting an Australian expat friend who has lived there since 2017. With her help, and the generous input of her many friends – some expats and others native to Lisbon – I was able to unlock the secrets of this remarkable city.  

But it wasn’t all smooth sailing. My initial hesitations about pumping the locals for information led to some harsh lessons in the form of hefty parking fines and one of the worst meals I’ve ever been served.

But I soon overcame my shyness and started collecting tips from everyone I met, from friends to Airbnb hosts to shopkeepers.  

Top of my list of things I wanted to know was where the locals eat. Lisboetas, as they are known, love going out for meals, and they know exactly where to get the best food for a fair price.  

Restaurante O Pitéu is the perfect example of this sort of place. Located in Graça, one of the hottest neighbourhoods in Lisbon, it is humble and packed with locals ordering its huge plates of cuttlefish gently fried with potatoes and black olives and finished with curry powder.  

Also popular is Zé da Mouraria , in the historic Moorish quarter, where vast platters of local dishes such as stewed veal and codfish with chickpeas are served to share.  

For something fancier, try Cavalariça where you can snack on modern Portuguese tapas such as oysters with passionfruit under the watchful eye of a unicorn statue.  

Be warned that many restaurants, especially the ones frequented by locals, are strictly cash only or will take only Portuguese cards. It’s also common practice for waiters to put a selection of starters (such as bread, cheese and olives) on your table when you arrive, and if you eat them, you are expected to pay for them at the end of the meal. If you don’t want them, don’t touch them and politely ask the waiter to take them away. 

Ordering a simple drink can also be challenging because wine quality can vary dramatically and cocktails tend to be heavily sweetened. Stick to natural wines wherever possible by seeking out one of the new wine bars popping up across the city, such as Italian-owned favourite Vino Vero in Graça, or try the popular Portuguese “green” wine, which is slightly sparkling and consistently drinkable.  

Another thing you quickly discover if you visit during the warmer months (April to the end of October) is that Lisbon is very much a beach city and there are dozens of sandy coves to explore within a relatively short distance from the centre of town. The easiest option is to jump on the train at Cais do Sodré (at the heart of downtown Lisbon) heading towards Cascais, which is a bit like the local Byron Bay. The full train journey takes around 40 minutes and runs along the coast with spectacular views, stopping periodically at various beaches. Carcavelos beach, the biggest on the strip, offers plenty of golden sand for sunbaking and volleyball. But locals prefer the quiet little beach at Parede, where you can stop for a sunset glass of sangria at the popular bar Adamastor or head down the road to the Atlantic Grill for one of the best seafood meals of your life.  

Locals are also passionate about viewing their city from different angles, and there are many ways to do this. Lisbon sprawls across seven hills and at the top of many of these peaks you’ll find miradouros (view points) that often feature tiny kiosks serving drinks and snacks. People flock to these spots at sunset to enjoy the view of the glowing peachy rooftops before ambling off for dinner at a nearby tasca (traditional Portuguese restaurant). 

Alternatively, jump on a ferry across to Cacilhas, wander along the harbour’s edge and stop for whole grilled fish at the breathtaking Ponto Final restaurant, where tables are lined up along the water’s edge. Book ahead or risk waiting up to two hours for a table and panoramic views of the city back across the water.

There are plenty of day trip options within an easy distance from Lisbon. Do as locals do and cruise up to Sintra to see the fairy-tale summer palaces once inhabited by royalty or over to Nazaré to see the big-wave surfers break world records during the competition season.  The beaches around Arrábida are also a great source of local pride.  

If you hire a car, be careful where you leave it. For a relaxed city, Lisbon is notoriously strict with its parking so it doesn’t take much to get a fine or to have your car towed. Err on the side of caution and keep your rental in one of the enclosed overnight parking stations. 

Finally, when it comes to taking home mementos of Lisbon, ceramics are the way to go. Buy your pieces by the kilo from Cerâmicas na Linha , a treasure trove of Portuguese wares including the famous kaleidoscopically patterned tiles. Items are priced by weight and they are happy to post internationally, so your souvenirs will be waiting for you when you get home. 

ESCAPE ROUTE 

Getting there: Emirates flies to Lisbon from Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney. 

Getting around: Uber is available in Lisbon and extremely affordable, but it is easier to get a taxi from the airport. The journey to the centre of the city should only take around 15-20 minutes and cost around 20€.

Den nest største byen i Portugal, hjem til portvin og utgangspunktet til de aller fleste elvecruisene som går på Douro. Har du noen dager ekstra i denne byen, bør du utforske bakgatene! Smak deg gjennom byens spesialiteter: ostesmørbrødet Francesinha , den lokale osten Queijo da Serra da Estrela , Bacalhau laget med saltet torsk og Alheira, lokale pølser laget av kylling og småvilt.

Barca d'Alva

I de aller fleste tilfeller er det ved Barca d'Alva elvecruiseskipene som trafikkerer Douro snur. Her begynner også Spania – grensen mellom de to landene følger Douros løp nordøstover og elven Águedas løp mot sørvest. Det er også her dere blir hentet i buss dersom turen inkluderer et besøk til Salamanca, som ligger omkring to timers kjøring herfra.

Douro - en av Europas vakreste elver?

Da vi beskrev Douro som en av Europas vakreste elver, var det en av gjestene våre som rettet på oss. « Det er ikke en av Europas vakreste elver. Det er Europas vakreste elv» , sa han.

Reiselederen fra Escape Travel treffer du på Oslo Lufthavn (reisende med KLM fra andre byer enn Oslo møter reiseleder i Amsterdam). Deretter starter reisen med å fly fra Norge til Porto, med mellomlanding og flybytte underveis. Vi blir møtt på flyplassen og kjørt med buss til skipet, hvor vi sjekker inn. Reisende med tidlig ankomst til Porto og vil få litt tid til å rusle rundt i byen før ombordstigning. Vi tar oss selvfølgelig av bagasjen din mens du slapper av i Porto, og transport fra flyplassen og videre til skipet er inkludert.

Først i køen av opplevelser står en busstur gjennom Porto etter middag for å oppleve den vakkert opplyste byen (utfluktspakke). Smale gater og trange smug, sjarmerende hus og vakre kirker dekket av Portugals særegne, blå fliser. Vi får se de mange imponerende katedraler og besøker blant annet byens jernbanestasjon, Sao Bento, som er vakkert dekorert og en av verdens flotteste jernbanestasjoner . Dette er bare noen få eksempler på kultur og arkitektur som Porto har å tilby.

I den sjarmerende bydelen Ribeira kan man fortsatt føle historiens vingeslag og at byens beliggenhet ved Douros elvemunningen har betydd mye. Herfra reiste de første portugisiske oppdagerne ut på sine ekspedisjoner, og nå er det vår tur!

Frokost, lunsj, middag

Porto, en av Portugals eldste byer og er med sine cirka 300 000 innbyggere Portugals nest største by. Den historiske delen av sentrum står på UNESCOs verdensarvliste og er et herlig virvar av smale gater, bueganger og imponerende kirker , blant annet Sé-katedralen fra 1100-tallet. Men fremfor alt er Porto kjent for vinen som bærer byens navn. På den andre siden av elven for sentrum, i bydelen Vila Nova de Gaia, ligger de gamle portvinshusene fra 1700-tallet. Vinen blir fraktet hit fra vinmarkene i Dourodalen, foredlet og lagret i de store portvinskjellerne, før de tappes på flasker og distribueres over hele verden.

Om morgenen tilbys en byrundtur i Porto (utfluktspakke), hvor vi får se byens største severdigheter, blant annet Palacio da Bolsa (børspalasset) og det mest fremtredende gotiske byggverket, San Fransisco katedralen. Turen avsluttes med besøk i et av portvinshusene i Vila Nova de Gaia, hvor vi blir vist rundt og får smake på den «dyrebare nektaren».

Våre tips til deg som ikke skal på utflukt: Nyt utsikten over byen fra toppen av Torre dos Clérigos , et ikonisk kirketårn i barokk stil. Et «must» å besøke er en av verdens vakreste bokhandler, Livraria Lello & Irmão (UNESCO). Reis tilbake i tid og nyt en kopp te på Café Majestic (1921), eller bare beskue bylivet fra en fortauskafé i Cais de Ribeira.

Alle må være om bord igjen til lunsj og mens vi spiser, kaster skipet loss og cruiset oppover Dourodalen er i gang.

Benytt ettermiddagen til å nyte seilasen fra orkesterplass på soldekket eller i salongen, og beskue det vakre landskapet vi passerer. Skipet seiler gjennom slusene i Crestuma og Carrapatelo, som er blant de høyeste i Europa, før det ankommer Régua om kvelden.

Vi begynner dagen med en utflukt til Vila Real (utfluktspakke), en by med variert religiøs arkitektur. Videre til Solar de Mateus-palasset , udødeliggjort på Mateus-­vinflaskenes etikett. Slottskapellet her regnes for å være en av de vakreste barokkbygningene i Portugal. Det blir tid til en spasertur i den vakkert anlagte hagen før retur til skipet, som i mellomtiden har seilt til Pinhão.

Mens vi nyter en deilig lunsj fortsetter cruiset gjennom hjertet av vindistriktet i Dourodalen . På begge sider av elven er det panoramautsikt til terrasserte vinmarker opptil 700 meter oppover de bratte dalsidene. Vi seiler gjennom slusene ved Valeria og Pocinho og ankommer den spanske grensebyen Vega de Terrón om kvelden.

Etter middag blir det underholdning med spansk tvist om bord. Skipet ligger ved kai i Vega de Terrón over natten.

Vi ankommer Barca d’Alva; utgangspunktet for vår for heldagsutflukt til den vakre, spanske byen Salamanca (utfluktspakke), som står på UNESCOs verdensarvliste . Bussturen tar cirka to timer hver vei, og dette er virkelig verdt å få med seg!

Salamanca kalles også «Den gylne byen», og når solen skinner gir det en helt spesiell glød i den varme sandsteinen. De flotte, gamle bygningene, katedralene og plassene er selvsagt noe av det vi skal få med oss, men Salamanca er også en levende by. Universitetet i Salamanca er et av de eldste og mest berømte i Europa, og det fører med seg rundt 30 000 studenter som bringer liv i gatene. Det er ikke som å vandre i et museum – du er i by som er både historisk, vakker og autentisk. Når du står på Plaza Mayor, en av Spanias vakreste plasser, skjønner du hva vi mener…

Salamancas historie strekker seg flere tusen år tilbake i tid, og vi får se arkitektoniske minnesmerker fra både romersk, arabisk og kristen tid. Her møttes lærde fra så vel kristne som arabiske og jødiske kulturer fra 1200- til 1400-tallet, mens det var religionsforfølgelse andre steder. Byen er preget av den spanske borgerkrigen på midten av 1900-tallet da Franco hadde sin regjering her.

Skinken som byen er så kjent for – jamón ibérico – bør du enten smake på mens du er her, eller få med litt av den hjem. Den er silkemyk og nydelig på smak. Og hvis du virkelig vi ha det aller beste, bør du smake på pata negra den mest eksklusive versjonen av skinken. Men den har også en eksklusiv pris…

Lunsj serveres på en lokal restaurant . Om ettermiddagen vender vi hjem til skipet, som i mellomtiden har seilt til grensebyen Senhora Da Ribeira.

Nyt en avslappende formiddag om bord, mens skipet seiler tilbake nedover elven og gjennom slusene ved Pocinho og Valeria . Vi gjør et kort stopp i Ferradosa, som er utgangspunktet for utflukten med buss gjennom vindistriktet (utfluktspakke).

Vi kjører på småveier langs de terrasserte vinmarkene med storslått utsikt over dalen og elven . Underveis blir det besøk og vinsmaking på en lokal quinta (vingård) . I mellomtiden seiler skipet til Folgosa, hvor de som har vært på utflukt kommer om bord igjen.

Ettermiddagen tilbringes om bord mens skipet seiler mot Leverinho hvor vi ankommer utpå kvelden. Skipet ligger til kai over natten.

I dag er det tid for hjemreise, og skipet seiler fra Leverinho til Porto tidlig om morgenen. Vi forlater skipet i Leverinho om morgenen for å rekke vår flyavgang hjem til Norge.

Forleng turen med to netter på hotell i Porto: De som har bestilt hotell og skal være igjen i Porto i to netter, seiler med skipet tilbake til Porto og sjekker ut fra skipet der. Transfer til hotellet, som har fin beliggenhet i den sjarmerende bydelen Ribeira . Her kan man sette fra seg bagasjen og ta en tur ut i byen til rommene er klare. Vi gjør oppmerksom på at oppholdet i Porto etter elvecruiset er uten reiseleder.

Porto er fremfor alt kjent for vinen som bærer byens navn. På den andre siden av elven for sentrum, i bydelen Vila Nova de Gaia , ligger de gamle portvinshusene fra 1700-tallet. Vinen blir fraktet hit fra vinmarkene i Dourodalen, foredlet og lagret i de store portvinskjellerne, før de tappes på flasker og distribueres over hele verden. Alle lugarene er utvendige og har bad med dusj, hårtørrer, TV, minisafe og aircondition. Lugarene har to enkeltsenger som kan settes sammen til en dobbeltseng. Lugarene på øvre dekk og midtdekk har fransk balkong, mens lugarene på nedre dekk har mindre vinduer som ikke kan åpnes. Skipet har ikke enkeltlugarer, men tilbyr et begrenset antall dobbeltlugarer til bruk.

Hotel Carris Porto Ribeira

På Hotel Carris Porto Ribeira ønskes du velkommen med god atmosfære og utsikt over Douro elven . Det gjestfrie og veldig hyggelige personalet yter både god og personlig service. Her i hjertet av Portos historiske sentrum, oser det av hyggelig stemning som gjør at du raskt kommer i feriestemning.

Dette hyggelige hotellet ligger i en historisk bygning , og eierne har forstått det med å bevare sjarmen i de gamle og elegante omgivelsene. Sjarmen er nå tilsatt moderne fasiliteter, og det kan du blant annet oppleve på de bekvemme og lyse rommene . Flere rom har flott utsikt over elven Douro og noen byr på en privat balkong/terrasse. Rommene kan variere i størrelse og utforming.

Hotellets hyggelige atmosfære og elegante innredning oppleves spesielt på Restaurante Forno Velho, hvor du kan nyte det gode kjøkkenet, under de godt bevarte steinbuene. På hotellets sjarmerende tapasbar kombineres avslappet atmosfære med noen av Portugals beste viner.

Du bor godt her, og fra «ditt» hotell er det 100 meter til den historiske plassen, Ribeira, som ligger ved bredden til elven Do uro . Her vil du møtes av en herlig stemning og du finner mange restauranter og caféer. På den andre siden av elven ligger bydelen Vila Nova da Gaia, hvor alle de berømte portvinshusene ligger. Den flotte spaserturen over den ikoniske broen Ponte Luís I tar i underkant av 15 minutter.

Utfluktene i programmet kan forhåndsbestilles i en utfluktspakke. For å være sikret plass på utfluktene, anbefaler vi at du bestiller utfluktspakken samtidig med cruiset. De forhåndsbestilte utfluktene vil være med engelsktalende guide. Det er også mulig å bestille utfluktene enkeltvis om bord, men da til høyere pris (se priser under) og med forbehold om ledig kapasitet.

Utflukt sp risene for 2025 er ikke klare fra rederiets side per i dag, og vil bli lagt ut her så snart de foreligger. Alle som har bestilt elvecruise, vil få prisen på utfluktspakken tilsendt.

TIPS Tipskulturen varierer fra land til land, og det finnes en rekke ulike uskrevne regler. For mange gjester er tips en måte å vise at de setter pris på den servicen, kvaliteten og oppmerksomheten de har fått i løpet av et cruise. Hvis du ønsker å gi tips til de ansatte om bord, kan du bruke konvolutten som du vil finne i din lugar siste kvelden og legge denne i tipsboksen som står i resepsjonen. All tips fordeles mellom samtlige ansatte om bord og blir satt stor pris på.

VIKTIG INFORMASJON Elvecruise er dessverre ikke tilrettelagt for bevegelseshemmede og få skip har handikapp lugarer og heis. Enkelte rederiet tillater heller ikke gjester å ha med gåstoler og rullestoler, av hensyn til sikkerhet.

Den reisende må være i tilstrekkelig god fysisk form og ellers skikket til å kunne delta på reisen. Det er på de fleste utfluktene mye vandring og det forventes at du kan følge gruppen i vanlig tempo. Alle deltagere må kunne håndtere sin egen bagasje, det kan ikke forventes at våre reiseledere skal bistå med dette. Ombord- og ilandstigning skjer via en smal landgang. I flere havner er det vanlig at skipene fortøyes langside mot langside, med opptil tre – fire skip ved siden av hverandre. For å komme i land må man gå gjennom/over de andre skipene.

Informasjon om flyselskap, tidspunkt og klokkeslett i programmet er foreløpige, og endringer kan forekomme. Endelige flytider vil stå i reisedokumentene. Elver er naturbaserte, og det kan skje uforutsette endringer i vannstanden. Skulle dette oppstå, forbeholder rederiet/Escape Travel seg retten til å forandre seilingsrute, tider og program.

Reisevilkår for Escape Travel

Nedenfor følger generelle reisevilkår for Escape Travel AS (heretter kalt ET). Disse vilkår gjelder for alle våre reiser med mindre det foreligger særskilte reisevilkår for den aktuelle turen. På reiser med særskilte vilkår vil dette fremkomme av turpresentasjonen eller i egen kontrakt. Der reisevilkårene fraviker Alminnelige vilkår for pakkereiser går ET sine reisevilkår foran da de Alminnelige vilkår er en bransjenorm som kan fravikes i visse tilfeller. 1. Påmelding Påmelding kan skje elektronisk via vår nettside, på e-post eller pr. telefon. Angreretten som ellers er til stede ved fjernsalg gjelder ikke ved kjøp av reisetjenester. Avtalen mellom partene anses inngått ved bekreftet bestilling og innebærer aksept av turens reisevilkår. Bestillingsbekreftelsen må kontrolleres grundig straks den mottas. Vennligst påse at navn på alle reisende stemmer overens med passet. Eventuelle feil skal rettes før betaling av depositum finner sted. Senere endring vil kunne medføre gebyr. 2. Depositum og sluttbetaling Etter bestilling av reisen vil den reisende få tilsendt en reisebekreftelse/faktura. Depositumet må innbetales innen syv dager. Manglende betaling av depositum medfører ikke at avtalen bortfaller. For reiser innen Norge og Europa er depositumsbeløpet kr 2.500 pr. person. For reiser utenfor Europa er depositumsbeløpet kr 4.000 pr. person. Depositumet regnes som delbetaling av reisens pris. Sluttbeløpet forfaller til betaling 65 dager før avreise. Er det under 65 dager til avreise ved bestilling, sendes faktura på hele beløpet med kort betalingsfrist. Ved manglende betaling 2 dager etter forfall, står ET fritt til å annullere bestillingen. Reisedokumentene sendes på e-post cirka 2 uker før avreise. Vilkår i dette punkt avviker fra normalen slik beskrevet i Alminnelige vilkår for pakkereiser. Dette som følge av garantier og forpliktelser til underleverandører. 3. Endringer og avvik ved reisen Ved tilleggs-bestilling av flybilletter, det vil si bestilling av flyreiser utenom våre gruppe- og tilslutningsbilletter, skal disse betales innen 7 dager. Beløpet er ikke refunderbart. Ved bestilling av flybilletter utenom våre gruppebilletter og/eller ved kjøp av en reise uten transport til/fra startstedet, er det den reisendes ansvar å møte på avtalt sted og til avtalt tid for videre transport/program med gruppen. Eventuelle forsinkelser eller uteblivelse fra den reisendes side gir ikke rett til prisavslag eller erstatning for tapt arrangement, det være seg for hele eller deler av programmet.

ET har ikke ansvar for tap som følge av at den reisendes egne bestillinger av transport eller andre reisetjenester, ikke kan benyttes på grunn av oppståtte endringer i de programfestede tidspunktene for gruppens reise- eller flytider når endringene skyldes forhold arrangøren ikke kan lastes for. ET gjør oppmerksom på at de fleste flyselskaper kansellerer hjemreisen dersom utreisen ikke benyttes. Enkelte endringer kan være mulig å gjøre etter at bestillingen er bekreftet, mot et gebyr. Dersom ET har mulighet til å etterkomme de nye ønsker, belastes dette med et endringsgebyr på kr. 500,- per person. I tillegg kommer eventuelle gebyrer som kreves av flyselskaper og/eller andre underleverandører. Vær oppmerksom på at når man reiser med rutefly, har de ulike flyselskapene en varierende siste frist for endringer. Endring av en bekreftet reise til annet reisemål eller annen avreisedato er å regne som en avbestilling og gebyr gjeldende på avbestillingstidspunktet kommer til anvendelse, se punkt 4. 4. Avbestilling mot gebyr Avbestilling skal skje skriftlig. Manglende innbetaling av depositum gjelder ikke som avbestilling. Ved avbestilling eller uteblivelse gjelder følgende gebyrer: • Inntil 105 dager før avreise: kr 750 pr. person • Fra og med 105 til 65 dager før avreise: Depositumsbeløpet • Fra og med 65 til 36 dager før avreise: 50% av reisens pris • Fra og med 36 dager og fram til avreisedato og ved manglende fremmøte avreisedagen: Ingen refusjon. Vilkår i dette punkt avviker fra normalen slik beskrevet i Alminnelige vilkår for pakkereiser. Dette som følge av garantier og forpliktelser til underleverandører. 5. Avbestilling/kansellering ved ekstraordinære omstendigheter Reisebransjen og ET følger Utenriksdepartementets reiseråd. Den reisende har som hovedregel rett til å avbestille sin reise dersom det på reisemålet eller i umiddelbar nærhet av dette de siste 14 dager eller kortere før reisen tar til, konstateres krigshandlinger, naturkatastrofer, farlige smittsomme sykdommer eller andre begivenheter som kan likestilles, og det er rimelig grunn til å anta at disse forhold også vil være på avreisedagen. Ved avbestilling av foran nevnte årsaker, refunderes tilgodebeløpet. Reisen kan imidlertid ikke avbestilles av foran nevnte årsaker hvis begivenheten som legges til grunn for avbestillingen var eller burde vært kjent ved bestilling.

En reise kan kanselleres/endres uten erstatningsplikt* av ET dersom:

5.1 Det ikke er påmeldt et tilstrekkelig antall deltakere på turen, se punkt 8. ET skal gi den reisende beskjed om eventuell kansellering av turen senest 20 dager før avreise. 5.2 Det inntreffer uunngåelige og ekstraordinære omstendigheter utenfor ETs kontroll. Eksempler kan være: Fare for krig, naturkatastrofer, farlige smittsomme sykdommer, arbeidskonflikter eller lignende. 5.3 Forhold på reisemålet/langs reiseruten som gjør det risikabelt eller urimelig å gjennomføre turen, og som ET med rimelighet ikke kunne forutse. For pkt. 5.2 og 5.3 vektlegges ved vurdering blant annet Utenriksdepartementets reiseråd og lokale myndigheters uttalelser. Om ET kansellerer en reise og fristen for betaling av sluttbeløpet er forfalt, er manglende sluttbetaling på kanselleringstidspunktet å anse som avbestilling fra kundens side, og gebyrer som ved en ordinær avbestilling vil gjelde. *Erstatningsplikt må ikke forveksles med kundens rett til refusjon av sitt tilgodehavende om ET kansellerer en reise. 6. Reise- og avbestillingsforsikring ET anbefaler alle reisende å ha gyldig reiseforsikring som også bør dekke eventuell hjemtransport, samt Europeisk Helsetrygdekort ved reiser i Europa. ET anbefaler å tegne en avbestillingsforsikring dersom dette ikke er inkludert i reiseforsikringen. Den reisende er selv ansvarlig for å tegne de nødvendige forsikringer. ET har ikke ansvar i situasjoner og forhold den reisende kunne ha forsikret seg mot og som ikke skyldes arrangøren eller noen han har ansvar for. 7. Pass og visum Det er den reisendes ansvar å ved avreise kunne fremvise gyldig legitimasjon og eventuelt visum som er nødvendig på reisen, både for seg selv og den/de man bestiller for. Utenfor fastlands-Norge anbefaler ET pass som gyldig legitimasjon. Enkelte av våre samarbeidspartnere anser pass som den eneste gyldige formen for legitimasjon, også i Europa. Vær oppmerksom på at det i en del tilfeller kreves at passet er gyldig i minst 6 måneder etter hjemreisedato. Dette kan også gjelde for reiser i Europa. Visumkrav til aktuelle reisemål er oppgitt i turens program på vår nettside. Hvis den reisende ikke reiser med norsk pass, må man selv sjekke visumregler for sitt statsborgerskap til det aktuelle reisemålet. 8. Forbehold Hvis ikke annet er oppgitt i programmet, er en gruppereise basert på minimum 20 betalende deltakere. Ved færre deltakere kan ET kansellere reisen, øke prisen eller tilby turen uten norsk reiseleder. Dette skal meddeles den reisende senest 20 dager før avreise. Det tas forbehold om endring av pris grunnet forhold utenfor ETs kontroll. Slike forhold er valutaendringer, endringer i transportpriser og økning i offentlige skatter og avgifter. ET forbeholder seg retten til å fakturere et pristillegg som følge av eventuelle endringer. Dette forhold går begge veier, og den reisende har rett til prisreduksjon dersom kostnadene reduseres. Eventuelle tillegg tar utgangspunkt i beregningstidspunktet for reisens pris, et tidspunkt som normalt sammenfaller med når en reise legges ut for salg. Et eventuelt pristillegg vil bli varslet senest 20 dager før avreise. Utgjør tillegget mer enn 8 prosent av reisens pris, har den reisende anledning til å heve avtalen. Reisende som har bestilt dobbeltrom/lugar eller del i twin-rom må betale enkeltromstillegg dersom den andre part frafaller eller det ikke melder seg en ytterligere person av samme kjønn å dele rommet med. Om dette er aktuelt, kontaktes den reisende og tilleggsfaktura sendes i forkant av reisen. Dette er ingen gyldig grunn til å trekke seg fra reisen. Reisen kan bli påvirket av forhold utenfor ETs kontroll som for eksempel vær, fremkommelighet, arbeidskonflikter og lignende. Dersom slike forhold skaper hindringer for gjennomføring av reisen, vil ET foreta nødvendige justeringer i eksempelvis reiserute og innhold, bytte av transportmiddel og overnattingssted. ET vil bestrebe seg på å erstatte de deler av reiseinnholdet som blir påvirket av endringen med likeverdige alternativer.

9. Den reisendes plikter Den reisende må kunne håndtere sin egen bagasje og kunne reise uten assistanse. Spesielle behov på flyreisen og underveis på turen må det opplyses om ved påmelding. Vi gjør oppmerksom på at reiseleder ikke kan yte særskilt assistanse til noen av deltakerne under reisen. Det er deltakers ansvar å være i god nok form, fysisk og psykisk, og ha en god nok helse til å kunne delta på reisen. Det er deltakers ansvar å sjekke med sin lege dersom man er usikker på om man kan delta. For enkelte reiser kan ET kreve at den reisende før avreise, fremlegger bekreftelse fra lege om at man er helsemessig skikket til å gjennomføre reisen. Dette vil i så fall framkomme av reisens program. Om deltaker ikke får slik bekreftelse fra lege og dermed ikke kan delta på reisen, gjelder samme gebyrer som ved en ordinær avbestilling, se punkt 4. Den reisende plikter å rette seg etter de regler som er gitt av offentlige myndigheter og ETs representanter, og må ikke opptre til sjenanse for medreisende eller andre. Dersom den reisende grovt tilsidesetter sine plikter, kan han nektes å delta eller utelukkes fra resten av reisen, uten at han kan kreve erstatning eller prisavslag fra arrangøren. Ved utelukkelse etter at reisen er påbegynt, kan den reisende pålegges selv å bære omkostningene ved endret hjemreise. Den reisende kan gjøres erstatningsansvarlig hvis han med vilje eller uaktsomhet påfører arrangøren tap blant annet ved ikke å overholde de bestemmelser som er nevnt ovenfor. 10. Den reisendes reklamasjonsplikt ved mangler Den reisende plikter å gi beskjed uten ugrunnet opphold dersom hun/han oppdager en mangel ved reisen. Oppdages mangelen etter at reisen har startet, må den reisende reklamere på stedet til ETs reiseleder eller til ETs kontor i Oslo, slik at disse blir gitt en mulighet til å rette opp mangelen. Hvis et problem ikke kan løses tilfredsstillende på stedet, kan det klages skriftlig til ET senest to uker etter hjemkomst. Hvis klagen ikke løses tilfredsstillende for den reisende eller ET, kan saken henvises til Reklamasjonsnemnda for pakkereiser. 11. Generelle vilkår Det vises til Pakkereiseloven av 15.06.2018, samt Alminnelige vilkår for pakkereiser av 01.07.2018 og særskilt deres formuleringer om at «Opplysninger som er gitt i kataloger eller brosjyrer eller annet informasjonsmateriell som arrangøren har utarbeidet eller viser til, regnes som en del av avtalen». 12. FØR REISEN STARTER

HVA HAR JEG BETALT FOR OG HVA KOMMER I TILLEGG? Våre elvecruise inkluderer flyreise, transport mellom flyplass og skip, helpensjon om bord, ofte kaffe og te til måltidene, havneavgifter og reiseleder fra Escape Travel. Enkelte rederier inkluderer også drikkevarer. I tillegg inkluderer mange av våre cruise egne utfluktsprogram. Hvis utfluktene ikke er inkludert, kan de som oftest forhåndsbestilles i en utfluktspakke. På noen cruise tilbys det også valgfrie utflukter som kan bestilles og betales om bord. Tips, drikkevarer utover det som er nevnt over og personlige utgifter kommer i tillegg.

DOKUMENTER OG BILLETTER Vi ber deg kontrollere at alle reisedokumenter er korrekte. Sjekk spesielt at navn er riktig skrevet. Dersom navn på flybilletten ikke stemmer overens med navnet som står i passet, risikerer du å bli avvist ved innsjekking på flyplassen og kan bli pålagt å kjøpe ny billett. Escape Travels reiseleder har med seg alle nødvendige dokumenter for lokal transport og selve cruiset. Har du bestilt avvikende reiserute må du være spesielt nøye med å sjekke at avreisested, dato og klokkeslett på reiseruten/flybilletten er korrekt i henhold til din bestilling.

REISEFORSIKRING En reiseforsikring gir betydelig trygghet i mange situasjoner som kan oppstå på reisen. På reiser til utlandet er reiseforsikring en nødvendighet. Escape Travel alle reisende å ha gyldig reiseforsikring som også dekker eventuell hjemtransport. Vi anbefaler deg også å tegne en avbestillingsforsikring dersom dette ikke er inkludert i reiseforsikringen. Den reisende er selv ansvarlig for å tegne de nødvendige forsikringer. Ha alltid med deg forsikringsbeviset når du er på reise. Det inneholder forsikringsnummer og persondata, samt viktige telefonnumre. For reiser innen EU/EØS anbefaler vi også at du har et Europeisk helsetrygdkort, som dokumenterer at du har rett til å få dekket utgifter til nødvendig medisinsk behandling på lik linje med oppholdslandets borgere.

PASS OG VISUM Alle som reiser til utlandet må ha gyldig pass. Vi gjør oppmerksom på at flere land krever at passet er gyldig minimum tre til seks måneder etter hjemreise. Skal du til et land hvor det kreves visum for norske statsborgere, vil du få informasjon om dette i god tid før avreise. Hvis du ikke er norsk statsborger, bør du kontakte det aktuelle lands ambassade for å høre om du trenger visum. Det er den reisendes ansvar å sørge for at pass og eventuelt visum er gyldig ved avreise. Escape Travel er ikke erstatningsansvarlig for passasjerer som ikke har dette i orden. Ta kontakt med oss dersom du har spørsmål vedrørende pass og visum.

PAKKETIPS Atmosfæren om bord er uformell. På dagtid anbefaler vi komfortable og praktiske klær, samt gode sko for utfluktene i land. En vindtett jakke og regntøy eller paraply kan også være praktisk å ha med. Om kvelden er det vanlig å skifte til et litt penere antrekk enn det du har brukt på dagtid. En av kveldene pynter man seg gjerne litt ekstra til middag, for eksempel jakke og slips for herrene. Skipene seiler ofte om natten og det kan forekomme vibrasjoner og støy fra maskinen. Sover du lett, ta gjerne med sov-i-ro. Husk å pakke viktige dokumenter og medisiner i håndbagasjen. For ordens skyld minner vi om at det ikke er inkludert noen måltider første dagen før middag om bord på skipet om kvelden. Det kan derfor være lurt å ha med litt snacks i håndbagasjen i tilfelle det blir lang tid til neste måltid.

PENGER OG VALUTA På de fleste av våre elvecruise i Europa benyttes euro. Om bord på de russiske skipene godtas enten rubler eller euro, avhengig av rederi. I Asia er det amerikanske dollar som gjelder. Internasjonale kredittkort kan stort sett brukes om bord og i land. I tillegg anbefaler vi at du tar med noe kontanter i euro, amerikanske dollar eller landets valuta, gjerne i små valører. Du trenger blant annet kontanter til betaling av tips og eventuelle valgfrie utflukter, som noen ganger må betales kontant. Det er ikke minibank på skipene og heller ikke mulig å veksle penger om bord.

HELSE OG VAKSINASJON Elvecruise er dessverre ikke tilrettelagt for bevegelseshemmede eller rullestolbrukere. Ombord- og ilandstigning skjer via en smal landgang. Få skip har heis og utfluktene i land inkluderer ofte byvandringer eller andre utflukter der det er mye gåing. Alle deltagere må kunne håndtere sin egen bagasje og reise uten assistanse underveis. Viktige medisiner skal alltid oppbevares i håndbagasjen. Det anbefales å ta med resept på medisiner man er avhengig av, slik at det kan skaffes ny medisin underveis om det skulle være behov for det. Medikamenter som går inn under gruppen narkotiske stoffer, må være attestert med brev fra legen skrevet på engelsk. Det er ikke lege om bord på skipene. Ved behov kan lokal lege kontaktes. Eventuelle utgifter i forbindelse med legebesøk eller sykehusopphold må dekkes av den reisende. Har du tegnet reiseforsikring, kan du søke om å få utgiftene refundert av ditt forsikringsselskap. Ta kontakt med din fastlege eller nærmeste vaksinasjonskontor i god tid før avreise for råd angående helse på reise og eventuelle behov for vaksiner.

Her kan du betale din reise, laste ned og skrive ut dokumenter. «Min Side» er mobiltelefontilpasset slik at du har enkel tilgang til «Min Side» også på reise. Du kommer inn på «Min Side» ved å åpne lenken du mottar i bestillingsbekreftelsen fra oss. AVREISEDAGEN

AVREISEBREV Avreisebrevet som kommer sammen med reisedokumentene inneholder viktig informasjon, blant annet navn og telefonnummer til Escape Travels reiseleder. Dette nummeret skal kun benyttes avreisedagen og under reisen. Alle dokumenter og reiseinformasjon finner du på «Min Side». Dersom du har spørsmål om reisen før avreisedagen, er du velkommen til å ringe oss på 24 14 94 00.

FLYREISE På reiseruten finner du flyselskapets referanse, flynummer, samt avreise- og ankomsttider. Alle klokkeslett er oppgitt i lokale tider. Det er ikke felles innsjekking for grupper. Du er selv ansvarlig for å sjekke inn og være ved utgangen til flyet i god tid før ombordstigning. Mange flyselskaper tilbyr muligheten til å sjekke inn via flyselskapets hjemmeside fra cirka 24 timer før avreise. Husk at du må beregne tid til bagasjeinnlevering og sikkerhetskontroll på flyplassen.

BAGASJE På flyene er det vanligvis tillatt med ett innsjekket kolli pr. person for reise på økonomiklasse. I tillegg tillates ett kolli håndbagasje. Se eventuelt flyselskapets hjemmeside for mer informasjon om tillatt bagasje, størrelse og vekt.

TRANSPORT TIL SKIPET Ved ankomst til reisemålet har du selv ansvar for å finne og ta hånd om din bagasje. Gruppen samles ved bagasjebåndet og går sammen med reiselederen til ankomsthallen og transferbussen.

Har du bestilt avvikende reiserute med annen ankomsttid enn gruppen, ber vi deg sende en SMS til reiselederen for å avtale hvor dere skal møtes.

LUGAR Alle lugarene er utvendige og har, på de fleste skipene, bad med dusj og toalett, hårføner, TV, radio, minisafe og aircondition. Det er som oftest to separate senger, som kan settes sammen til en dobbeltseng. Strømstyrken på skipene er 220 V. Adapter er ikke nødvendig.

MÅLTIDER Alle måltider om bord er inkludert i prisen og serveres i én bordsetning. Til frokost er det buffet med fri bordplassering i restauranten, mens lunsj og middag vanligvis er en 3-retters meny og fast bordplassering. Noen skip har lunsjbuffet. Hovmesteren anviser bord den første dagen. På noen lange utflukter får man med lunsjpakke eller spiser på en lokal restaurant.

DRIKKEVARER Hos noen rederier er kun kaffe og te til måltidene om bord inkludert. Hos andre rederier er vin til middagen eller alle drikkevarer, både i restauranten og baren (bortsett fra champagne og vin fra bestillingslisten) inkludert. Hva som er inkludert i prisen på din reise fremkommer av bestillingsbekreftelsen. Det anbefales ikke å drikke vann fra kranen om bord. Vann på flaske kan kjøpes i baren eller restauranten.

BETALING OM BORD Om bord kvitterer du for drikkevarer i restauranten og baren. Regningen gjøres opp siste kvelden om bord, enten med kredittkort eller kontanter. VISA og MasterCard aksepteres på alle skipene, mens American Express og Diners er mindre utbredt. Hos enkelte rederier tilkommer et gebyr hvis regningen blir betalt med kredittkort.

UTFLUKTER Mange av våre cruise inkluderer et stort og variert utfluktsprogram. Hvis utflukter ikke er inkludert, kan du som regel forhåndsbestille en utfluktspakke. På noen cruise tilbys det i tillegg valgfrie utflukter som kun kan bestilles og betales om bord. De fleste utfluktene er med engelsktalende guide. Escape Travels reiseleder har ikke lov til å guide på utfluktene, men vil supplere den lokale guiden og oversette der det er mulig.

TIPS I mange land er tips mer vanlig enn hva vi nordmenn er vant til. Det å gi tips er en del av den kulturen du velger å besøke, og bør derfor respekteres. Selv om tips er frivillig, er det forventet hos menneskene du møter underveis, som besetningen om bord på skipet, lokale guider og sjåfører. Vi angir et anbefalt beløp i våre reiseprogram, slik at du kan ta høyde for dette før avreise. På elvecruise kan ikke tips forhåndsbetales, men må betales kontant om bord.

KAIPLASS I mange byer ligger skipet til kai midt i sentrum, med gangavstand til selve bykjernen, mens du i andre byer er avhengig av transport for å komme til sentrum. I havner hvor flere elvecruiseskip er inne på samme tidspunkt, er det vanlig at skipene fortøyes langside mot langside, med opptil tre–fire skip utenfor hverandre. For å komme i land må man da gå gjennom/over de andre skipene.

TELEFON OG INTERNETT Det er telefon på lugaren, men den kan kun benyttes til å ringe til skipets resepsjon eller en annen lugar. Mobiltelefon kan stort sett brukes på hele reisen, men dekningen kan være varierende. Noen skip har tilgang til WIFI om bord, men med varierende dekning.

INFORMASJON OM BORD Informasjon om cruiset, anløpshavner, aktiviteter og måltider finner du på dagsprogrammet, som hver dag henges opp i resepsjonen. Informasjon kan også bli gitt over skipets høyttalersystem. Dagsprogram og annonseringer over høyttalersystemet vil ofte være på flere språk, vanligvis engelsk, fransk og tysk.

VERDISAKER OG SIKKERHET Unngå å ha alle kontanter, pass, billetter og kredittkort i samme veske/lomme. Ta gjerne en fotokopi av pass og kredittkort før avreise, og oppbevar disse separat fra originalene under hele reisen. Verdisaker du har med deg, og som ikke er i bruk, bør oppbevares i minisafen på lugaren eller i felles oppbevaringsboks i resepsjonen.

RESEPSJONEN Resepsjonen om bord er åpen hele døgnet. Husk å levere nøkkelen i resepsjonen når du går i land. Dette er den eneste måten personalet kan vite om du er om bord eller ikke.

BUTIKK De fleste skipene har en liten suvenirbutikk i tilknytning til resepsjonen.

RØYKING Røyking er kun tillatt på anviste områder utendørs.

FORBEHOLD Rederiet forbeholder seg retten til å endre programmet og seilingsruten som følge av endringer i elvens vannstand eller andre uforutsette hendelser. Skulle dette inntreffe vil rederiet tilstrebe at reisens totale innhold allikevel vil være det samme.

Assuming your home country does not have a visa agreement with the country you're planning to visit, you will need to apply for a visa in advance of your scheduled departure.

• For any tour departing before 21st June 2024 a full payment is necessary. For tours departing after 21st June 2024, a minimum payment of €250 is required to confirm your booking with Globus. The final payment will be automatically charged to your credit card on the designated due date. The final payment of the remaining balance is required at least 50 days prior to the departure date of your tour. TourRadar never charges you a booking fee and will charge you in the stated currency.
• Some departure dates and prices may vary and Globus will contact you with any discrepancies before your booking is confirmed.
• The following cards are accepted for "Globus" tours: Visa, Maestro, Mastercard, American Express or PayPal. TourRadar does NOT charge you an extra fee for using any of these payment methods.
