10 Great Things to do in Lublin: Poland’s hidden gem

This post is a travelguide with the best things to do in Lublin Poland. Lublin is maybe one of the most underrated cities in Poland. Few people know about it. Myself included, before I travelled to the Eastern part of Poland.

What I found is that the old town of Lublin with its pastel coloured merchant homes is just as scenic as the more famous cities of Warsaw , Krakow, Gdansk and Poznan . While other parts of Lublin were severely damaged in the second World war, its medieval center was somehow spared, making it one of the most picturesque in all of Poland.

If that’s not enough reason to visit Lublin, there are also great museums, churches, castles and restaurants that reflect its wealthy past as a thriving city. Because of its strategic location in between Krakow, Lviv and Vilnius , Lublin has a long history as a multicultural city of trade and commerce in the region.

Lublin still is the capital of the Lublin province and is now close to the borders of Belarus and Ukraine. Despite being one of the most interesting cities in eastern Poland, it is still an off the beaten path destination. Few travellers head this far east. Part of its charm is the lack of tourist crowds. Therefore, Lublin is as authentic as it can get and a true Polish experience.

The Town Hall in Lublin Poland

The best things to do in Lublin Poland

1. lublin’s old town.

The picturesque old town of Lublin is a joy to wander around in with plenty of things to do within its walled gates. It’s like travelling back in time. The oldest part of Lublin are the medieval foundations of a church at the Po Farze square.

Several old gates give way to narrow alleys with pastel coloured buildings. The Krakow gate from 1320 is one of the oldest and now houses the Lublin Provincial museum.

The Grodzka gate is also one of the original gates left that once seperated the Jewish quarter from the old town in Lublin. In the 16th century Lublin was a vibrant and multicultural city with a large and active Jewish community that shaped the character of the city for more than 500 years.

During the second World war the old town in Lublin was largely left intact and sustained no damage. However, most of its Jewish population perished in the concentration camps of nearby Majdanek and Auschwitz. If you are interested in the Jewish heritage of Lublin I can recommend this guide .

2. Lublin Castle

Lublin castle is a must among things to do in Lublin. The royal castle of king Casimir the Great was built in the 14th century and is now one of the oldest preserved royal castles in Poland. It was a safe place that was often visited by the kings and queens of the Polish royal family.

Wars in the seventeenth century ended the good times of the castle and gave it a more dark purpose. Under Russian rule the castle became a prison and later the Nazi’s used it as a detention center for political prisoners and Jews.

Even the communist security services kept using it that way untill they decided to preserve its heritage and renovate it. In 1957 the castle reopened as the Lublin Museum. It is clearly visible from the old town. Even if you are not visiting the museum it is worth walking up the hill. There are beautiful views over the city and you can enter the castle courtyard for free.

3. The Saint John Baptist Archcathedral

There are quite some churches in Lublin, but the cathedral of Saint John the Baptist and John the Evangelist was the most beautiful. Inside you will find beautiful frescoes depicting biblical stories and figures of saints.

It was built in the 16th century for the Society of Jesus. After damage in the second World war, the cathedral was rebuilt into its current structure. The altar is still the original altar from the 17th century though. You can also visit the crypts where the Lublin bishops were burried.

4. Krakowskie Przedmieście street

If you just come from the old part of town this pedestrian shopping street feels new and modern. At night it is a lively affair with busy restaurants and cafés where young Lublin hangs out. The atmosphere is great and it is a good place to go for dinner.

But this street also has some interesting historical buildings. The street starts at the Krakow gate. At your right you have the new town hall dominating the square. If you continue on the Krakowskie Przedmiescie you will soon walk by the 15th century church of the holy spirit . The buildings are just as colourful as in the old part of town.

Strolling the Krakowskie Przedmieście street is one of the fun things to do in Lublin

5. A free walking tour through Lublin

Lublin has several companies offering free walking tours that are an excellent way to see the city. Local guides will show you around and tell their stories. Most of them are in the weekends and in summer, but you can check the times on Martin tours or Free walking tours

6. Litewski square multimedia fountains

When you walk through the Krakowskie Przedmieście street you come accross the Litewski square and its fountains. In the summer they sometimes have multimedia shows that are quite spectacular. Even though we could not understand polish it was an impressive story with angels and history that we truly enjoyed

Multimedia show at the Litewski fountains in Lublin is a great thing to do in Lublin in summer

7. Open air village museum Skansen

Skansen is one of the biggest open air museums in Poland. It is at the outskirts of Lublin in the Czechowka river valley. It aims to show the traditional village life and cultural traditions of people living in the past.

The museum is a great thing to do in Lublin if you want to escape from the city. They also organize several events for christmas, winter, easter and other special occasions.

8. Botanical gardens

Near the open air village museum you have another opportunity to immerse yourself in scenic landscapes away from the city. You can visit the Botanical gardens of the Maria Curie Sklodowska university. With 25 hectares and more than 6500 plant species there is plenty to explore

The best things to do near Lublin Poland

9. majdanek state museum.

A visit to the Majdanek State museum requires some time afterwards to sit down and reflect on what you have just seen. The museum is situated outside Lublin on what is one of the best preserved Nazi concentration camps in Poland. The quickly advancing Red Army left no time to destroy all the evidence of what happened there.

It was both a work camp and extermination camp. Of the estimated 150,000 prisoners in Majdanek 80,000 were killed. Most of them Jews, but also political prisoners and Roma. It is hard to describe a visit to Majdanek in words, but it is a must thing to do in Lublin as this part of history should not be forgotten.

How to get there : Bus number 23 or trolley bus 156 leave frequently from the Krakow gate and stop right in front of the entrance of the museum.

Majdanek State museum

10. Kazimierz Dolny

Lublin is already off the beaten path, but if you want to visit a real hidden gem you should make a day trip to Kazimierz Dolny . A medieval village with a picturesque location just an hour by car from Lublin.

How to get there: There are several buses a day to Kazimierz Dolny and back. The journey takes about an hour making it a perfect day trip.

Lublin Travel tips

Visit lublin and the lublin card.

The Lublin Tourism board has developed an excellent app called Visit Lublin about all the things to do in Lublin. They have set out some interesting walking trails for tourists that you can see here.

There is also the Lublin card that you can buy online. There are different types that give free access to certain museums and public transport and discounts on a number of restaurants.

We were happy with just wandering around and because everything is within walking distance we only used the public transport to visit Majdanek. Therefore we choose not to buy the card.

The best hostels in Lublin

Budget : A good budget option in the center is Rodmos hostel . A great place with large and comfy rooms near the old town and Krakow gate.

Midrange : For more comfort and privacy, you can’t go wrong with the Old Town Boutique rooms right in the middle of the old town.

What to eat in Lublin

Lublin has a great culinary scene with lots of cheap restaurants serving traditional food from the region. Of course you can find Polish cuisine, but the region has its own specialities too as well as food from neighbouring Lithuania and Ukraine.

Here are some local delicacies that you should definetly try. Pierogi dumplings are famous throughout Poland, but Lublin has its own variety. Pierogi po lubelsku are filled with a sweet cottage cheese. People eat them with yoghurt and sugar. There is another variety that mixes the cottage cheese with buckwheat.

Forszmak is an Eastern European dish with Jewish roots. The name refers to the use of salted meat and fish. Forszmak Lubelski is a soup or stew made with salted meat, pickled cucumbers and tomato paste. You can find it in some restaurants.

You should also visit one of the local bakeries to try lublin’s gingerbread and cebularz . The latter is a flatbread with onions and poppyseeds. Cebularz were first made by the Jewish community. The Jewish bakers were famous for their great quality of work. Unfortunately, most Jews did not survive the war, but Cebularz remains a popular snack.

Where to eat in Lublin

Festival of European Taste : We were lucky when we were in Lublin, because it happened to be the Festival of European taste . The market square in the old town was full of street food stands where we could taste almost any food from all over Europe.

We decided to try some Polish cuisine and filled our stomach with bigosz . A stew of sauerkraut and pork meat. The next day we tried zapiekanka , the polish version of pizza and had a taste of oscypek , smoked sheeps chease. This festival is every year at the end of August or the beginning of September.

Sielsko Anielsko : Unfortunately there is only so many space in your stomach and with the festival in town we have seen very little of the great restaurant scene in Lublin.

The restaurant where we did go turned out to be a very good choice. Sielsko Anielsko had an extensive menu with traditional Polish dishes that made us regret it was our last night and we couldn’t come back.

It’s the kind of menu where you want to try everything. Luckily the friendly waitress helped us in our choice and everything we ordered was absolutely delicious.

polish traditional food at the festival of european taste

When to visit Lublin

Lublin is a year round destination. In general, the summer months of June to August are the warmest and have the longest days, making them a good time to explore the city and participate in outdoor activities. However, this time of year can also be the most crowded and expensive.

The shoulder seasons of spring and fall offer milder temperatures and fewer crowds, and can be a great time to visit for those looking for a more relaxed experience. the perfect destination for summer, but spring and autumn are also good times to visit the city.

Winters can be cold, but the snow makes the town even more beautiful. Winter is also the time when you can visit the christmas market.

If you are interested in cultural events, it is worth checking the events calendar and plan your trip accordingly. For example, the Lublin Castle Festival, which is held in June, is a popular cultural event that features performances, music, and other activities in and around the castle. Another popular event is the annual Film Festival, which is held in November.

How to get around in Lublin

Most things to do in Lublin are within walking distance of each other so we only used the public transport to visit Majdanek. The city has an excellent public transport system. To see the current timeschedules either check Google Maps or ZTM Lublin .

train station of Lublin

How to get to Lublin

Lublin is easy to reach by train. From Warsaw it is only 3 hours by train and from Krakow it is around 6 to 7 hours by train. You can check the most recent timetables and connections with other cities in Poland on the site of the Polish Railways .

Internationally you can travel by bus to Vilnius in Lithuania (8 hours), Minsk in Belarus (7 hours) and Lviv in Ukraine (4 hours). Lublin also has a small airport served by several budget airlines such as Wizz Air that connects the city with several European destinations.

My visit to Lublin was part of a larger trip to Iasi in Romania , Chisinau in Moldova , Tiraspol in Transnistria , Odessa and Kyiv in Ukraine.

Honestly, I must admit I had never heard of this town before, and I live not too far form Poland! And it seems to be a true gem, so much history and beautiful architecture here!

Your trip sounds amazing and I must admit to not having heard of Lublin before. You make a good case for visiting and your post was very informative and interesting. Shared for #wbps

I was able to tour Poland in 2017. Lublin was one of my many memorable stops. The history of the area makes it especially valuable for any visit to Poland.

I didn’t realize Majdanek was here, just a short city bus ride away.. Thanks.

What people say about us, southside dublin free walking tour.

Southside Tour with Peter was Fantastic. I am all about walking yours in towns and this was one of the best. It lasted about 3 hours, but I could have wandered around with Peter for a couple of more hours and not gotten bored. We got great general history of Ireland and insite to specific sites on the South Doubling tour. Highly recommend.

Absolutely recommend!

During my short trip to Dublin I decided to book a free walking tour with the Dublin Free Walking Tour – South Side. Our guide was Conor (with one ‘n’) who did a great job sharing bits of Ireland’s/Dublin’s history and present in a relatively short amount of time (one can learn a lot in 3 hours) and with some humour. I had lots of fun learning during this tour and I would 200% recommend anyone to book it. I’m sure you won’t regret it!

Great experience

Our tour lasted 2hr45 of the Southside, and was really excellent. Our tour guide gave us lots of information and was happy to answer questions, and was generally very friendly and easy to understand. It’s a contribution at the end as well, but nominally free. Would definitely recommend!

All you need to know within 2 hours

A great mixture between information, fact, cultural insights and first hand tips for pubs and restaurants. Would encourage everyone to go on a tour!

Must-do in Dublin

Had a fantastic South Side tour with Richie on Sunday morning. Very informative and funny, and we learned interesting history about Dublin. It’s three hours but time flies by! Highly recommend to anyone wanting to take a walking tour – best way to get your bearings plus learn about the buildings instead of just looking at them!

Interesting tour!

Very interesting tour about the history of the city of Dublin. Our guide Conor was dynamic and captivating! We recommend to discover the city at the beginning of your stay!

Informative and fun tours with a great guide

We did both the north and south side tours with Peter. He was absolutely fantastic and really knowledgeable, giving an insight into the city we never would have had walking round in our own. He was also really helpful in answering any questions and providing recommendations for the rest of our trip. Great experience and would definitely advise anyone visiting Dublin to book on to both tours.

Educational and fun. Highly recommended!

My hostel recommended this company to me. Incredibly knowledgeable guide for the free morning & afternoon walking tour (tour date 30.11.2021). Did not expect this level of knowledge and presentation skill from a free tour, but will definitely take a closer look at their normal tours next time I am in Dublin. I am sure they are fabulous too. Overall highly recommended!

This tour was excellent and the tour guide was the best we had for any of the trips we did during our visit to Krakow. The guide was full of interesting information and spoke excellent English. He spoke clearly and guided the group around at the right speed so that we could take photographs and have a good look at everything. The tour was very reasonably priced and the guide was clearly passionate about the subject. I didn't catch the guides name but he said English speakers usually call him Jack. I would highly recommend this tour.

Last weekend we had three tours with Walkative and would recommend it to anyone travelling to Krakow! All guides were really funny and friendly, and had all sort of interesting information to share. First we did the Street Art Tour with Navia und after we were so enthusiastic about this tour we decided to go for the Old Town Tour with Damian and the Macarbre Tour with Jaczek. Can only recommend the tours and guides, and if we come back to Krakow, we will definitely do a tour again.

I did 2 tours in one day they were so great! First the old town with Mario and then the Jewish quarter with Ania. I have done free walking tours all over Europe and these tours were the best-above and beyond fantastic. Both guides were native Polish, well educated, extremely knowledgeable, and passionate about the tour subject matters. They do these tours full time and are very excited to share their history and culture. I really can’t recommend this company enough! They offer a wide variety of tours. I wish I could do them all!

Having spent much time learning the more 'heavy' sides of Krakow's long history, it was a delight to enjoy a afternoon in this museum. The museum is full of interactive installations and displays (...), the artifacts held in the collection are often stunning and illuminating, and our guide skillfully used these small every-day items to feed into broader questions of social and historical significance, how [Krakow's] people have lived, how its influence has risen and waned and now these questions feed into the 'heavier' questions of religion, politics and economics. Can thoroughly recommend this tour.

I had a fantastic time and learnt more things that I can remember and write down by taking 4 walking tours by Walkative Agnes, Magdalena and Bartos. They are all excellent tour guides, very knowledgeable, they carry materials with them that help bring to life all the stories that are telling combined with excellent presentation skills. Absolutely recommended!

Oddly enough, the main town was the last in the various walking tours I have done with Walkative over two trips to Gdansk. There is very little overlap and this one really gives you a solid grounding in the history dating back four or five centuries in some cases. The guide (Macin I think - sorry!) did a wonderful job retelling some of the gore and much of the wonder that’s as old Gdansk. These guides do an amazing job!

Dawie’s tour was the best theatre in Paris as well as informative!!!! He is great – even in the rain. Do it.

My group really enjoyed the amount of history explained in the tour, it was a nice way to get a lot of information on several of the key sites in the center of Paris in a compact amount of time. Excellent for orientation and background. I would certainly do other tours in the future.

Just finished a 3 hour tour with Dara around Berlin, which absolutely flew by! Dara was incredibly knowledgable and made the tour both interesting and entertaining. If you have a short amount of time in Berlin like us I would highly recommend it. Cheers Dara!

PGA Tour players learn how much loyalty is worth in new equity program

Players who stayed loyal to the PGA Tour amid lucrative recruitment by Saudi-funded LIV Golf are starting to find out how much that loyalty could be worth.

The PGA Tour on Wednesday began contacting the 193 players eligible for the $930 million from a “Player Equity Program” under the new PGA Tour Enterprises .

The bulk of that money — $750 million — went to 36 players based on their career performance, the last five years and how they fared in a recent program that measured their star power.

How much they received was not immediately known. Emails were going out Wednesday afternoon and Thursday informing players of what they would get. One person who saw a list of how the equity shares were doled out said the names had been redacted. The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because many details of the program were not made public.

The Telegraph reported Tiger Woods was to receive $100 million in equity and Rory McIlroy could get $50 million, without saying how it came up with those numbers.

Commissioner Jay Monahan outlined the first-of-its-kind equity ownership program in a Feb. 7 memo to players, a week after Strategic Sports Group became a minority investor in the new commercial PGA Tour Enterprises.

The private equity group, a consortium of professional sports owners led by the Fenway Sports Group, made an initial investment of $1.5 billion that could be worth $3 billion. The tour is still negotiating with the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia — the financial muscle behind the rival LIV Golf league — as an investor.

Any deal with PIF would most certainly increase the value of the equity shares.

Another person with knowledge of the Player Equity Program, speaking on condition of anonymity because of the private nature of the dealings, said the equity money is not part of the SSG investment. That money was geared toward growth capital.

Golf.com received a series of informational videos on the Player Equity Program that was sent to players and reported only 50% of the equity would vest after four years, 25% more after six years and the rest of it after eight years.

It also reported how the 36 players from the top tier were judged on “career points,” such as how long they were full members, victories, how often they reached the Tour Championship and extra points for significant victories.

Jason Gore, the tour’s chief player officer, said in one of the videos, “It’s really about making sure that our players know the PGA Tour is the best place to compete and showing them how much the Tour appreciates them being loyal.”

Emails also were sent to 64 players who would share $75 million in aggregate equity based on the past three years, and $30 million to 57 players who are PGA Tour members. Also, $75 million in equity shares was set aside for 36 past players instrumental in building the tour.

The program has an additional $600 million in equity grants that are recurring for future PGA Tour players. Those would be awarded in amounts of $100 million annually started in 2025.

Players only get equity shares from one of the four tiers now, although everyone would be eligible for the recurring grants.

Even with equity ownership geared toward making the PGA Tour better, the concern was players questioning who got how much and whether they received their fair share.

LIV Golf lured away seven major champions dating to 2018 since it launched in 2022, all with guaranteed contracts and most of them believed to have topped $100 million.

McIlroy, playing this week in the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, was asked how much would make players feel validated for their decision to stay with the PGA Tour.

“I think the one thing we’ve learned in golf over the last two years is there’s never enough,” McIlroy replied.

Liz Truss at the Heritage Foundation, Washington DC, 22 April 2024.

Fair to say America isn’t gripped by Liz Trussmania. Here’s what she can learn from Mr Bean

Emma Brockes

Our former PM has a dire warning and a book to sell, but it isn’t really cutting through. A bit more Brit-style bumbling might help

‘I know the name,” texts a friend when I ask if she knows who Liz Truss is, but like most Americans can’t quite put her finger on why. “Like 8%,” guesses another when I ask her to put a number on how many of her countrymen she imagines know of Truss. The standard response, in my extremely unscientific poll of Americans as to whether or not they know of Truss, however, was: “No, should I?” – the answer to which, of course, depends entirely on whether you want to understand why the Tory party is polling around 20% or whether you happen to be Liz Truss.

Truss, the only one of us to suffer that particular misfortune, was in Washington DC this week trying, like so many minor British celebrities before her, to catch the eye of the Americans. At the Heritage Foundation, a rightwing thinktank that hosted the launch of Truss’s book Ten Years to Save the West , she came bearing a “warning”. Not an ideal ice-breaker, perhaps, but one clearly tailored to an audience receptive to the frisson of the term “forces of the global left”.

She then provided a perfect illustration of how British people try to win over Americans. “I like to think of the United States of America as Britain’s greatest invention,” said Truss, a piece of comic rank-pulling that relies, for the joke to land, on the delusion that Britain is central to American thinking or penetrates American consciousness at all. Even the sorts of Americans who show up to events at the Heritage Foundation must have been politely baffled by this.

Still, it’s possible Truss did better than the other British export trying and failing to win over Americans this month. Blur’s performance at Coachella last week – and particularly that of Damon Albarn – delivered the timeless drama of a man’s idea of himself crashing into a rival and more widely held view. “You’re never seeing us again, so you might as well fucking sing it,” shouted Albarn when, during a rendition of Girls & Boys, he tried to get a call and response off the ground and the crowd remained largely unresponsive. “Know what I’m saying?” he added savagely. And they did, apparently, rewarding his yelling, sneering and eventual tip into bitterness by continuing to withhold their approval.

The challenge for Albarn, Truss and all the others who have tried to charm this particular away crowd is to project a jaunty, offhand confidence that somehow disguises the scale of the need and the fear of rejection. It can make for an odd spectacle, bad jokes and terrible sycophancy. “The world felt safer when Donald Trump was in office,” said Truss this week, and you wondered at her shamelessness – not because sucking up to Trump is unusual in America, but because, coming from a British person, even a former Conservative prime minister, you assume that she is able to see Trump marginally more clearly than her American counterparts, and that at some level she knows that we know this.

There is, however, one thing that may work to Truss’s favour in the US. British critics of Tony Blair used to hammer him for a smoothness that struck some as pseudo-American, and which contributed to his currency – or at least legibility – in the US. Margaret Thatcher’s strident persona had about it a force that, particularly since she was played by Meryl Streep in the movie, has been claimed by some in the US as “American” in flavour.

But Truss has something that can land equally well coming from British people trying to break the US: an effortless, almost Mr Bean-like social awkwardness that invites in Americans a rival condescension, and is frequently utilised by British people abroad. Truss’s odd syntax, lame jokes and occasionally unnerving eye contact may stand a better chance of landing in the US as charming eccentricity, or an extension of the standard-issue bumbling Brit.

Although, of course, in this case, it’s all moot, because no one knows who she is. The New York Times didn’t cover Truss’s book launch in Washington, nor did the Washington Post, and the book currently sits outside the top 4,000 on US Amazon. Her warning, whatever it was, will go not only unheeded but unheard – with no one more profoundly, one assumes, than Donald Trump.

'It feels inevitable at this point': A dominant Scottie Scheffler takes control of RBC Heritage

Change Text Size

If ever there was a week that the rest of the PGA TOUR thought it could get one over on Scottie Scheffler, it was this week.

Scheffler arrived at the RBC Heritage admittedly drained from an emotionally taxing Masters victory. He didn’t see Harbour Town Golf Links until Wednesday. His first time playing the front nine was during the first round.

Scheffler had already gone back-to-back once this year, winning the Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by Mastercard and THE PLAYERS Championship, but this was supposed to be the week. This was the week all the stress and energy of constantly being in contention would catch up; the tournament when Scheffler’s mind would assuredly be elsewhere, with his wife Meredith and their soon-to-be-born child back home.

Scheffler is proving circumstances and context don’t matter for him. The world No. 1 trailed by six shots after the first round and trimmed the deficit to three shots by the end of Friday. Then he carded a bogey-free 63 on Saturday that looked routine – expected, even. By day’s end, Scheffler was in first alone at 16-under, to nobody’s surprise. He is one round away from his fourth win in five starts.

Scottie Scheffler secures lead with birdie on No. 18 at RBC Heritage

A supremely talented group of chasers will hunt Scheffler. Sepp Straka is one back; Collin Morikawa is two behind. Masters runner-up Ludvig Åberg and Sahith Theegala are within three, with Patrick Cantlay and Rory McIlroy within earshot.

It might not matter. Not right now.

“I was going to say it's hard to go really low, but Scottie shot 8 or 9 (under) or whatever he did," Theegala said. “He doesn't count.”

It’s how it feels.

The normal rules don’t apply to Scheffler, and, although he plays the same course as his competitors, he has stood in a league of his own. There’s not much to suggest Sunday will go any different than Sundays of the last two months. Scheffler only elevated his performance when he was in this position. He co-led Bay Hill Club & Lodge after three rounds, then shot 66 on Sunday, the day's low round, to win by six. Scheffler tied the week's low round on Sunday at THE PLAYERS to come roaring back and win. And at Augusta National Golf Club last week, Scheffler stayed steady as the rest of the contenders fell victim to the Masters pressure, gliding to a four-shot victory.

“I think when I'm playing my best, sometimes it feels like I'm competing against myself a little bit out there, trying to keep pushing and stay as focused as I can,” Scheffler said. “I felt like the back nine Sunday last week was an example of that where I was just trying to keep pushing forward, pushing forward because the golf course is so challenging, anything can happen, and I wanted to build myself up a cushion.”

On the leaderboard, that cushion is just one stroke entering the final round. In the minds of the chasers, it’s likely more.

Scottie Scheffler's tidy approach leads to easy birdie at RBC Heritage

“I think we all expect him to play well, and there's nothing I can do about it,” said Åberg, who finished runner-up to Scheffler at the Masters. “All I try to do is focus on myself and make sure that I hit the shots the way I want to and then see where that takes me.”

“Yeah, it feels inevitable at this point,” said Patrick Rodgers, who is 13-under, three shots back. “His ball-striking is incredible. It's going to take -- for me to have a chance tomorrow, I'm going to have to play 18 great holes, and I'm looking forward to the challenge.”

To beat Scheffler, someone must put together a round that looked a lot like his third round. Scheffler made eight birdies and zero bogeys in a round that featured a bit of everything. He holed long putts, like his 36-foot birdie on No. 9. He also converted on six birdies from inside 10 feet. He birdied all three par 5s and two par 3s (both of which were among the five hardest holes of the day). Scheffler led the field in Strokes Gained: Off-the-Tee and Approach.

If Scheffler sounds unbeatable, it’s because he has been. Just one player has bested him since the beginning of March. He finished one stroke back of Stephan Jaeger at the Texas Children’s Houston Open, his lone defeat in this string of victories.

Nobody beat him through 54 holes in Hilton Head. Why will Sunday be any different?
