The Wee Beastie

All about  the coolest boats on the loch.

The Wee Beastie arrived brand new to the shores of Loch Ness in 2018. It has an all-black look to make it the coolest vessel ever to set-sail on Loch Ness. The hull was designed and produced by Humber Inflatables.  This RIB (Rigid Inflatable Boat)is extremely safe & can seat up to 12 passengers at a time. Although we do travel at speed, safety comes first in everything that we do, it is our job to make sure everyone onboard no matter what age or ability has an enjoyable, safe and unforgettable experience.

Everything you need to know, do i need to book or can i just turn up.

We highly recommend booking your speedboat tour of Loch Ness with the Beastie Boats ahead of time, either online or by giving us a call on 07777 668136, to avoid disappointment.

Where does the tour start?

Our speedboat tours of Loch Ness begin at Foyers Pier on the south side of Loch Ness, 19 miles from Inverness city centre. We recommend using the what3words app with the words “ hiker.ambitions.hinted ” to find us.

What time should I arrive?

Please check in with our team at least 15 minutes before your scheduled departure time to ensure you’re properly kitted out and ready to go, and to avoid impacting any other planned tours.

How long does the tour take?

Speedboat tours of Loch Ness on our Wee Beastie last for one hour. On our yacht, the Glenliath, tours can take two, four or six hours, depending on the adventure you choose. 

Do your tours run year-round?

Yes we offer speedboat tours of Loch Ness all year – however, availability varies depending on the time of year. During peak season, from March 1 to October 31, we carry out four tours a day. From November 1 to February 28, trips must be pre-booked with a minimum of four passengers to go ahead.

Is there an age restriction?

The minimum age for our speedboat tours of Loch Ness is five years old and children under 15 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Children of all ages are welcome on our yacht tours of Loch Ness on the Glenliath.

What should I wear?

We recommend wrapping up warm for your unique Loch Ness experience – even the warmest days in the Highlands can have a chill, especially in the middle of the loch! You will also be provided with a life jacket upon arrival.

Will I be provided with a life jacket? Or do I need to take my own?

Everyone will be provided with a life jacket when they check in for a speedboat tour of Loch Ness on our Wee Beastie. Life jackets don’t have to be worn on board the Glenliath, however are available in the unlikely event of an emergency.

Will I get wet?

If you feel brave enough to be sitting in a splash zone area, it’s likely you might get a little wet. We recommend wearing a waterproof and bringing a change of clothing just in case.

Can I take pictures with my phone or camera?

Yes, of course! And don’t forget to post all of your snaps using the #BeastieBoats hashtag to impress all of your followers!

Will I get seasick?

It is incredibly rare for anyone to feel seasick on our speedboat, the Wee Beastie. Motion shouldn’t be too severe as the boat sits low in the water. Plus, we are in a loch, not in the sea!

I need to cancel or change my booking. What should I do?

We require a minimum of 48 hours’ notice to cancel or amend a booking. Please get in touch at [email protected] to learn more.

Do trips ever get cancelled?

Very occasionally we may have to cancel your tour with us. Passenger enjoyment and safety are our highest concern and, if we feel weather conditions on the day are unsuitable, we will cancel the sailing.

What happens if my trip is cancelled?

In the unlikely event we cancel your tour, any payment you have made will either be refunded in full, or we’ll try to accommodate you on the next available tour that suits you.

Are the tours suitable if I’m pregnant or have a back problem?

Unfortunately our tours aren’t suitable for those who are pregnant or have a back problem. Your safety and enjoyment are our main concern and even on the calmest days, if the weather changes and there’s an unpredictable wave, motions could occur.

Will I see Nessie?

You’ll just have to join one of our tours to find out…

I was sitting by the water in Fajardo, Puerto Rico, having a delicious lunch of arroz mamposteao when a group of mini-speed boats raced by on their way to a tiny island off the coast. I asked the waiter about the peculiar little vessels, and he told me that speed boat tours are the best way to explore the coast. Speed boats are a favorite pastime of the locals here — and a unique way to party with friends or celebrate a milestone with family. Intrigued, I found myself at the helm of my own little boat the very next day, surrounded by the deep turquoise open sea and feeling the saltwater splashing on my face. It was such a thrill as I zipped around the coast, with magnificent views on all sides, giving me a new perspective of this relaxing oasis. It was the highlight of my entire Caribbean travel vacation , and now as a result I make sure to seek out speed boat tours whenever I find myself on one of its many tropical islands.

What To Expect On A Caribbean Speed Boat Tour

Speed boating is a truly unique experience that lets you discover untouched travel destinations from an exciting perspective. Speed boats come in different shapes and sizes, from jet boats to fast dinghies, and you can command your own boat or have an expert captain guide you along. And the best part? Due to the Caribbean's constant warm weather and mild waters close to shore, you can enjoy speed boating all year long.

In the Caribbean, speed boats are a way of life. Locals and visitors alike go speed boating to celebrate birthdays and anniversaries, and you can rent one to celebrate a bachelor or bachelorette party. Some guides will even help you organize an event on the shore if you want to make a stop to surprise a loved one.

Families can enjoy speed boats, too, as long as everyone follows the basic safety rules, wears a life jacket, can swim, and abides by the captain's direction. If you are captaining your own boat, you'll first go through a quick demonstration on how to safely start, stop and maneuver the vessel and how to signal for help out at sea — but it's not as daunting as it may sound, as there's usually a leading captain on another boat guiding your group.

You will get wet, so don't forget a towel, biodegradable sunscreen, a camera, your SeaPass, cash or credit cards, and a change of clothes. A dry bag is always a good idea if you want to bring your belongings on the boat — that way, you can protect your items from the rejuvenating sea splashes.

Now that you're packed and ready, it's time to zoom through the Caribbean.

Travel Here & Now To Curacao

The dreamy coastline vacation destination of Curacao became my playground with a speed boat adventure and snorkel tour. I was traversing pool-like beaches, hidden mangroves, and magical tiny islands, and I saw so much of the island over the course of a few hours. One of my favorite stops was Devil's Corner, an exhilarating and bumpy ride by the shore. I also headed to the Spaanse Water Lagoon, a natural harbor, for a placid tour between tiny isles. I passed by elegant yachts and got up close to magnificent mansions in this part of the island. My tour also made a stop by the Fuik Baai Lagoon — a shallow water body and cove where you can swim, snorkel, and watch wild pelicans. Finally, our guide took us to Santa Barbara, a white sand beach on the southeast part of the island, where I had a chance to let loose and run on the beach. I grabbed some seafood for lunch and did a little sunbathing.

Cast A Spell In Cozumel: Breakthrough Island View

With some of the most picture-perfect water views in the Caribbean, impressive blue holes, and remote islands like Isla Pasión, I had the adventure of a lifetime while speed boating in Cozumel. Tours here offer high-speed acceleration and maneuvers, along with 360-degree turns. Even though I was nervous in the beginning, once I was out there on the water going at speeds I could not comprehend, it felt like pure freedom. Though it's not just about the fast acceleration with these tours. I was also able to catch my breath once I got to beautiful Isla Pasión where my speed boat tour guide gave the cue to note that it was time to kick back and relax on a hammock, and that's exactly what I did. With that, I requested a frozen margarita and watched the waves slowly curl back and forth on the shore. A buffet awaited me when I got hungry, and it featured some of my favorite dishes — fresh fish, a salad bar, and tropical drinks, all included with the tour.

Best Speed Boat Tours In Puerto Rico

The enchanting island of Puerto Rico is an ideal adventure vacation destination in the Caribbean; offering some of the best speed boat tours in all the islands. Puerto Rico is also known as one of the most popular island-hopping options as locals host private mini boat trips where you are at the helm. This is very different from having a guide maneuvering a boat for you. Here, you get to be in control and play in the water like a kid with a new toy. I was joyfully exploring the coast, on my own terms, reaching different islands off the shore. Icacos is perhaps the most popular — and my personal favorite.

It's a fantastic snorkeling destination with what many call the best coral reefs of La Cordillera Nature Reserve. We got to spend most of our time there. Everything you need is included with tours like these: snorkeling gear, snacks, drinks, and a tour guide on a different boat to help you spot the best places. You don't need a boating license and will get to captain your own mini speed boat around jaw-dropping locations.

Historical St. Maarten And Its Underwater Garden

I knew St. Maarten for its impressive underwater life and impossibly soft sand from previous trips, but I learned that it can be best explored on a high-speed boat. I made several stops for snorkeling and diving here, discovering shipwrecks, underwater creatures and vivid coral reefs where brightly colored fish lived and thrived. If you are like me, always looking for the mysterious, I recommend heading to Simpson Bay and looking for the old sunken boats filled with tropical fish. I didn't even have to go in the water — my speed boat had a glass bottom, and I was able to easily see all the sea treasures underneath. To spice things up a bit, my tour guide also took me to Maho Beach, to witness the low-flying airliners, all incredibly close to the threshold of the airport runway. Then, my last stop was Mullet Bay, and here I took a break from all the excitement and relaxed by the crystalline waters with a good book.

The Promise Of St. Thomas Thrills

In St. Thomas, I had one of the most exhilarating adventures, this time aboard a super fast jet boat. These boats are suitable for families and offer 180-degree spins, fishtails, and power-brake stops at turbo-jet speeds. The guide on this tour was an experienced skydiver. He told us that zipping along the shore on this high-speed boat is just as exhilarating as jumping from a plane, feeling the wind stretching your cheeks. I was sold on the idea and joined the other adventurers, all of us looking at the vessel with childlike wonder.

On our journey, we reached secret cays and islands. We swam in the waters of otherworldly beaches and hiked in the forest. By the end of the tour, I had to agree with the skydiver; it was intoxicating. Even though I had never jumped from a plane, the high-octane experience was like zipping along a roller coaster. It made for a perfect end to my thrill-seeking Caribbean trip and ignited a new sense of adventure in me.

This was my wife's first parasailing, and Captain Howard and Chad reassured her of their experience, which calmed her, resulting in a great adventure for the entire family. We had a blast, and it was all thanks to these two guys. It was totally worth the cost and is something we will cherish.

We booked this tour for our family of 5, we had a 5 year old with us first time parasailing. It was a very fun and safe experience for us. Had a wonderful time parasailing with Searocket, Tony was a perfect guide.

My mom, myself and my 4.5 yo took the dolphin tour and weren't disappointed! The ride was fun, good music, fun staff and we saw dolphins. The mate "skinny legs" was nice enough to take a WONDERFUL family photo on board at no additional charge. Definitely recommend the sea rocket and will be back in future visits.

We decided to do the Searocket out into the ocean. It was an awesome ride and experience for the whole family. The entire crew and staff were very friendly and outgoing. It was so much fun and a great time. Absolutely loved it!

We decided to take a vacation to Ocean City. We found the Sea Rocket and went to check it out. While waiting for our turn Audra told us all about Parasailing, we thought about doing this all night. Well we got brave enough to go back and try it! Audra and the guys were very awesome and we are so happy we tried it! We would definitely come and do it again!!! Thank you all for the great time.

We had an excellent ride on a beautiful day. Very fun and friendly staff that made our ride memorable. The mate even took our picture for us. Even those we did not see the dolphins all the other sights were excellent. We would go again soon.

This was our 2nd visit to OCMD and the Sea Rocket boat tour. Both times was a great experience and we got to see dolphins both times. Crew was friendly and funny and they played a good variety of music. My 5 year old daughter loves the boat ride and it will be a return visit for us on future vacations. Boat travels from the bay up to the Carousel Hotel and back.

We decided to go on the last ride of the day and we had a great time! Kevin, Matt and Tony were awesome and made sure everyone was having fun. We will definitely be back!

Was on a family vacation and decided to purchase tickets for the sea rocket after watching it speed up and down the ocean close to our hotel. Had a great time and plan on going back in September for parasailing.

The weather wasn't cooperative and I picked a cooler day to ride, but the Captain and Mate were great. Informative and funny! They took extra care to get my kids life jackets! Thanks guys! Definitely will go back for some Parasailing!

Our snorkeling and speed boat tour also includes snorkeling in the beautiful shallow water coral reef of Punta Nizuc, also called “The Great Mayan Reef”. You can schedule your activity, tour, or rental on our website and reserve your place; we guarantee you won’t be disappointed!

We are located in front of the J. W. Marriot Hotel on the lagoon’s edge in Hotel Zone 14.5 km, in the Freds House restaurant’s parking lot. Outside the check-in office, you’ll see a white speedboat. Click here for a more precise location or comprehensive directions.

Our speedboat, jet ski adventure tours, and snorkeling tours do not require any prior expertise. Beginners are encouraged to participate. Before leaving on a tour, all participants will get instructions and an orientation.

Some of our tours and rentals have age restrictions:

Jet Ski Tours: No children under 10 years old. Participants from 10 to 17 years old must be accompanied by an adult on the same jet ski.

Maximum Jet Ski Weight Limit: 225 lbs. per person | 450 lbs. per jet ski.

Rides on speedboats – Minimum age: 3 years |Participants from 3 to 17 years old must be accompanied by an adult in the same boat.

All boat and jet ski drivers must be 18 years of age or older to drive.

The maximum weight limit for a speedboat is 260 lbs. per person and 530 lbs. per boat.

Snorkeling: children under 3 years old are not allowed, and this activity is not recommended for people with asthma and claustrophobia problems.

If the harbormaster deems him unfit to leave due to inclement weather, he will be fully refunded or rescheduled on a different day or time if he so desires. Only workers have the authority to confirm or cancel a tour or rental due to inclement weather. If someone does not show up for the tour at the appointed time, there will be no refund for the people or groups who did not show up. It can rain for a second in Cancun, and then the sun can shine twenty minutes later, so make sure you are on time and prepared to go.

Germany has announced plans to resume cooperation with the UN's agency for Palestinian refugees in Gaza (UNRWA).

It follows an independent review into claims by Israel that a small group of UNRWA staff were involved in Hamas's 7 October attacks.

The claims prompted a host of countries to pause support for the agency while a probe took place.

A report released on Monday found Israel has not provided evidence to support its claims and that it has not raised concern about anyone on the UNRWA staff lists it has received every year since 2011.

However, it did make 50 recommendations to improve UNRWA's neutrality.

Germany's foreign and development ministries have urged the agency to quickly implement the recommendations. 

"In support of these reforms, the German government will soon continue its cooperation with UNRWA in Gaza, as Australia, Canada, Sweden and Japan, among others, have already done," they said in a statement.

The US Senate has passed a $95bn security aid package for Israel, Ukraine and Taiwan after months of delays.

It passed with 79 votes to 18 late last night after the House of Representatives approved the aid bill at the weekend.

The majority of the fund will go to Ukraine, but some $26bn (£20bn) includes wartime assistance for Israel and humanitarian relief for the citizens of Gaza.

Around $5.2bn will benefit Israel's missile and rocket defence system, with a further $3.5bn going towards the purchase of advance weapons systems. Just over $9bn will be spent on humanitarian supplies.

Joe Biden is expected to sign the bill into law today.

Senate majority leader Chuck Schumer said before the vote that the US would have "would have paid a price economically, politically, militarily" if Congress had not passed the bill.

"Very few things we have done have risen to this level of historic importance," he said.

Yesterday, Israel ordered new evacuations in an area of northern Gaza which it says is a "dangerous combat zone".

It came amid reports of mass graves discovered in the Khan Younis area of southern Gaza.

The IDF said the claim that troops buried Palestinian bodies was "baseless and unfounded".

Here are the other key developments over the last 24 hours: 

• Hezbollah launched a drone attack targeting Israeli military bases north of Acre in northern Israel. The group said this was its deepest attack inside Israel since the outbreak of the Israel-Hamas war;
• A Hamas representative called for an escalation across all fronts of the conflict;
• Donald Trump accused Joe Biden of being "no friend of Israel" in a speech attacking the current US president outside a court in New York City;
• Egyptian officials told the Wall Street Journal that Israel's planned ground operation in Rafah is expected to last around six weeks;
• The US Senate advanced a $95bn aid package for Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan towards the final vote, the final step before sending it to the White House.

People in Khan Younis who have been searching for their loved ones in the mass graves discovered in Khan Younis have been speaking to the Sky News team on the ground.

Moayed Suleiman Mahmoud Mustafa, 14, whose family was killed in airstrikes, told our team that he found his mother's body in one of the graves and buried her yesterday.

He is still looking for his sister, father and his cousin. 

The teenager said: "I only found my mother, we buried her yesterday. I am now looking for my sister, my father and my cousin.

"We took my mother from here and we buried her in our cemetery."

People in Gaza "want to rest", he said.

"We don't want to be living like that, we want to live," he added.

"There is no life. This is all for nothing. I feel sad, lonely, alone in the world."

Reem Zaydan said she was still searching for her son and believed he had been killed in January

"The day my son was martyred, I knew he was martyred without anyone telling me. A mother's instinct," she said.

"My son was displaced in an area, and he used to always contact us after any strike or anything. When Khan Younis in its entirety was besieged, he did not call us, unlike every other time.

"I have been coming here for days. Every day, I come from 6am until 2pm. I come from Rafah city and head to the same place. Once they finish their work, I go home."

Karima al-Ras, 55, who lives in Khan Younis, said she had found her son after two months of searching for him.

"Today, I came at 6am when I found my son, Ahmad," she said.

"His father died when he was 12, and I raised him. I gave him an honourable life. I made him study mechanical engineering. Cars would come to our doorsteps and he would fix them. Ahmad was beloved by everyone."

The IDF has called claims they buried Palestinian bodies "baseless and unfounded".

The military said the operation in the area of Nasser Hospital was to locate hostages and missing persons, and bodies "buried by Palestinians in the area of Nasser Hospital were examined". 

"The examination was carried out respectfully while maintaining the dignity of the deceased. Bodies examined, which did not belong to Israeli hostages, were returned to their place," the IDF said.

Israel has denied accusations that it buried Palestinians in a mass grave, following the discovery of more than 300 bodies in the courtyard of a Gaza Strip hospital.

The discovery of hundreds of bodies in the courtyard of Khan Younis's Nasser hospital prompted the Hamas-run government to accuse Israel of digging the graves "to hide its crimes".

The UN says it is investigating claims that some of the bodies had their hands bound and were stripped of clothing.

The US Senate has advanced a $95bn aid package for Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan towards the final vote, the final step before sending it to the White House for Joe Biden to sign into law.

One of the bills provides $61bn for Ukraine, a second $26bn for Israel and a third $8.12bn "to counter communist China" in the Indo-Pacific. 

It comes after the House of Representatives abruptly ended a months-long stalemate and approved the assistance in a rare Saturday session.

Joe Biden has promised to sign it into law as soon as it passes the Senate.

The risk of famine throughout Gaza, especially in the north, is "very high," Washington's special regional envoy for humanitarian issues has said this evening.

David Satterfield told reporters that Israel must do everything possible to facilitate efforts to avert a famine and called for more to be done to get aid to those in need, particularly in the north.

For context : Israeli strikes intensified across northern Gaza today and Israel ordered new evacuations in the area.

An Israeli army spokesperson said people are being urged to flee from the Beit Lahia area in the region's northeast.

The area lies a short distance from Beit Hanoun city, where Israeli tanks made a new incursion overnight.

Benjamin Netanyahu is "a failure who belongs in jail", the Palestinian president has said.

Earlier, Mr Netanyahu said on X he had hosted soldiers for the beginning of the Jewish holiday of Passover. 

He said an empty chair had been left in the centre of the table and on it were the photos of all 133 hostages who are still in Hamas captivity. 

"I am committed to returning all the abductees home," he said.

Responding, Mahmoud Abbas said: "Stop lying, Netanyahu. 

"You have failed to return someone in more than 200 days. Your government has failed. You failed the Israeli people. You are a failure and belong in jail."
