Pink at University of Bolton Stadium — stage times, setlist and more

Pink returns to the UK after four years and Manchester for the first time in a decade.

Danny Jones

Pop legend Pink is in Manchester as we speak ahead of her massive gigs at the University of Bolton Stadium this week, set to play not one but two shows at the Wanderers’ home ground.

Having been around since 1995 if you can believe that, the legendary Noughties singer recently released her ninth studio album, Trustfall , back in February and is now set to embark on a huge world tour entitled ‘ Summer Carnival ‘.

The UK leg, her first since 2019, consists of six big shows across Britain, but Manchester has the honour of not only hosting Pink for the first time in 10 years but being the one to kick off her world tour, which already consists of over 70 dates, nine different countries and runs all the way into 2024.

It might surprise a few to see that Pink’s playing at a football stadium in Bolton to get things started, but she’s played there multiple times before and while she might not have heard about the recent name change , it’s somewhere she’s more than familiar with. Here’s everything you need to know about it.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by P!NK (@pink)

Tickets for Pink’s Manchester gig

It’ll be no surprise to hear that tickets to see one of the biggest pop artists of the past 20+ years aren’t exactly abundant but, fear not, if you’re a big Pink fan there are still some available for both nights.

The bad news is, given they’re in such high demand and the gigs are literally around the corner, they’ll cost you a fair few quid, to say the least.

The cheapest seats remaining on Wednesday, 7 June will set you back £135 per person; as for the following Thursday, 8 June, not only are there still some seats available at the same price but there are even a handful of Gold Standing Tickets in The Circle that will cost you £162.

Even the VIP packages for these gigs are all sold out as there are literally hundreds of people set to raise their glass to the pop sensation’s return.

Pink support acts at Bolton Stadium

As if seeing Pink wasn’t enough, the Pennsylvania songstress will be accompanied by three different support across her double-header at the UniBol Stadium.

For those of you who do manage to get a ticket, she will be joined by fellow American singer-songwriter Gayle , rising DJ and producer KidCutUp who played her last tour, as well as fellow pop hit-makers, The Script.

Talk about a warm-up act — seeing The Script is a pricey ticket on its own, let alone a trio of exciting artists and then Pink!

Their appearances on Pink’s impending tour are also among the first the Irish group will play following the passing of their guitarist and co-founder Mark Sheehan back in April, having got back on stage in Blackpool earlier this week. It’ll no doubt be just as emotional an occasion for them on Wednesday.

Predicted setlist

Now, as for what Pink will be playing on her opening night in Bolton , we don’t really have any other gigs this year to go off, however, you can bet you’ll be hearing plenty of the new album as well as plenty of the classics from down the years.

We’re not going to lie, this setlist is adjusted from her last big show at Austin City Limits back in October 2022 and based on the stuff she’s played most this year according to Setlist.fm , so there’s a fair bit of guesswork here but here’s an idea of what you might get to hear:

  • Get The Party Started
  • What About Us
  • When I Get There
  • F**kin’ Perfect
  • Just Give Me a Reason
  • Never Gonna Not Dance Again
  • Please Don’t Leave Me
  • Just Like a Pill
  • Me and Bobby McGee (Kris Kristofferson)
  • Nothing Compares 2 U (Prince cover)
  • Raise Your Glass
  • So What (encore)

So long as we hear ‘Get The Party Started’ we’ll be happy, to be honest — top-tier banger.

Stage times

As for set times, the University of Bolton Stadium’s doors are set to open at 4.30pm, with the first of the warm-ups, KidCutUp , beginning an hour later — one of three occasions he’ll be keeping the crowd entertained over the course of the evening.

Then at 6.45pm Gayle will play a roughly half-an-hour set before KidCutUp returns for the interval. As for the big support, The Script will be taking to the stage for an hour from 7:30-8:30pm.

Making a final appearance for 20 minutes as the main event, KidCutUp will once again get the crowd ready and raring to go before Pink arrives at around 8:50pm, will the show set to end no later than 11pm.

With such an early start time and so much music to enjoy on Wednesday and Thursday, it’s going to be a brilliant couple of nights in Bolton.

Travel and parking

As for how you’re going to get to Pink’s Bolton gigs, one of the best parts about Greater Manchester is our brilliant public transport networks mean you can always get around.

With a shuttle bus running from Bolton Interchange, Chorley Railway Station and Wigan Robin Park to the stadium on both nights between 2-8pm, Big Green Coaches available from various locations, as well as Horwich Parkway as your nearest train station, there are several options for travelling to the gig.

As for if you’re driving in, there are plenty of places to drop gig-goers around the stadium and if you’re looking for parking, there are around 1800 spaces available at the stadium per night.

Parking spots, including 120 blue badge disability spaces, will be first-come-first-serve and bookable via the Evology app for £25. You can find out more information about pricing and how to book, as well as plenty of other travel information down below.

Pink was one of the first big musical artists to ever play at Bolton Wanderer’s home stadium and helped usher the likes of The Killers, Little Mix, Coldplay, Elton John and more to join her.

With that in mind, it’s only fitting that she’s returned to the venue that she’s remained so fond of, declaring, “ Manchester, I am so in love with you ” after arriving in Manchester at the start of this week.

Writing in a statement on the University Bolton Stadium Hotel website, Pink said : “It’s been a long three years and I’ve missed live music so so much… So it’s finally time! I am so excited to get back to the UK and Europe to sing, cry, sweat and make new memories with my friends. It’s going to be magical!”

The mum of two even took her daughter Willow out in Trafford Park to celebrate her 12th birthday. Even hearing her name next to random Manc boroughs still sounds a bit surreal but we’re absolutely here for it — roll on Wednesday night!

Not the first place I'd expect to see Pink. 🤣 https://t.co/JZCEqiCFOh — The Manc (@TheMancUK) June 6, 2023

Matt and Phred's x Jimmy's takeover Manchester

Two much-loved institutions in this city’s legendary music scene and Manchester’s nightlife culture as a whole are set to collide next month for a brand new live event series, throwing a big old party and supporting the industry in the process – who’s ready for Matt and Phred’s x Jimmy’s?

That’s right, two of the very best venues not only for live music but for booze and a bite to eat have recently announced a new collaboration which will see both Manchester city centre spots doing their bit to support local independent business as well as up-and-coming artists.

With the inaugural event in the new series set to take place at the popular jazz bar, gig venue and pizza spot Matt and Phred’s , the team over at Jimmy’s will be lending a hand to put on a great night of live music this May.

As two of the veritable tastemakers when it comes to the top tunes coming out of 0161, we can’t think of many better places to champion the Manchester music and hospitality crossover than these two.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Jimmy's (@jimmys)

Scheduled for 10 May, the Jimmy’s crew are set to work alongside Matt and Phred’s to deliver a mint night of music and Manc nightlife at its finest.

There’s always been a bit of debate as to when the former first opened (most have settled on 1998), but they pride themselves on being “the only true dedicated jazz venue in the North West”, with live performances pretty much every night for the week.

As for Jimmy’s, while they might have had to say goodbye to their original site on the edge of the Northern Quarter and their Liverpool location late last year too, they’ve done a good job of attracting new crowds at their current home on Cutting Room Square in Ancoats .

Hosting rising stars Denver County Council , who recently joined adopted Mancs The Blinders on their UK tour along with Wigan indie four-piece, The Stanleys, we can only hope this will be just the first in a long line of collabs between various local acts and venues.

Another wave of acts has been to the Green Island Festival 2024 lineup this summer

  • The timeline of Night & Day Cafe’s noise row – including a surprise cash offer from Matty Healy
  • Liam Gallagher says his son Gene’s band will be opening for him on Definitely Maybe tour

Not only are Denver County Council being tipped for big things, having recently got some airplay on the likes of XS Manchester, but the entire ethos of this new live series is something we can all get behind.

It might start with Jimmy’s x Matt and Phred’s, but backing nightlife and other independent businesses through spotlighting new artists has always been part of the very fabric of this city and the region as a whole, so we’re sure it won’t be long before more names get involved on both sides of the stage.

With tickets setting you back just a tenner, you’d be a muppet not to book this one in for a fun little Friday this April. You can grab yours HERE .

See you there.

The battle to ‘save’ Manchester’s iconic Night & Day Cafe seems to have finally come to an end, with a lengthy court battle wrapping up last month.

The historic venue has helped launch the careers of countless bands and played host to intimate gigs from the likes of Ed Sheeran, Arctic Monkeys, Wet Leg, James Bay and Elbow.

A couple of years ago though, a ‘new resident’ in the neighbourhood filed a noise complaint.

And then Night & Day Cafe was slapped with a Noise Abatement Notice by the council.

And then they took the whole thing public, and the row rumbled on and on and on.

The resident unwittingly at the heart of the media storm (some very famous faces were rallying behind the venue) said that the music was so loud it could ripple their toilet water, Jurassic Park-style.

In a lengthy piece recently published by The Mill , previous residents came forward and backed them up, saying that the flat was ‘uninhabitable’ and a ‘living nightmare’.

That piece also revealed that Matty Healy, frontman of The 1975, at one time came forward and offered to buy the flat for cash to put an end to the whole thing.

The 1975's Matty Healy reportedly made a cash offer to buy the flat involved in the Night & Day Cafe noise row. Credit; Instagram

But three years after the noise complaint row hit headlines, Night & Day Cafe has been granted permission to continue operating as a gig venue and nightclub, with a few conditions that should end the back-and-forth between them and their neighbours.

Manchester City Council has maintained throughout the ordeal that it has had no intention of shutting down the Oldham Street venue, saying that the Noise Abatement Notice was issued as a ‘last resort’ after months of negotiating and compromising.

After three years of public statements and court hearings and occasional celebrity endorsements, it looks like Night & Day Cafe can finally go back to what it does best.

And if you also got lost in the whole storyline along the way, here’s a little refresher of what happened and when (it goes back a full decade…)

Night & Day Cafe’s noise row as it happened

The Manc Audio Night & Day DJ takeover night 2

January 2014 – Night & Day is first hit with a Noise Abatement Notice, with thousands (including Johnny Marr, Frank Turner and Tim Burgess) signing a petition to have it removed.

September 2014 – Night & Day is allowed to remain in operation, on the condition that owners meet with residents every three months and to discuss any issues.

August 2020 – A man buys a Northern Quarter flat that neighbours Night & Day Cafe. The world is still under lockdown restrictions and live music is all-but non-existent.

July 2021 – Restrictions lift and this iconic venue springs back to life with its first event. The noise is so loud inside the neighbouring apartment, the toilet water ripples, Jurassic Park-style. The residents file their first complaint, and meet with the owners of Night & Day to discuss a solution.

November 2021 – After multiple complaints, and multiple meetings with the venue’s bosses, Manchester City Council serves Night & Day with its Noise Abatement Notice. The council received hundreds of noise complaints that year – this was the only one that resulted in a NAN (the rest were sorted out by venues without council involvement).

November 2021 – Night & Day goes public with its Noise Abatement Notice and launches a petition to have the NAN removed. It gains almost 100,000 signatures and is shared by many famous faces in the music industry.

November 2021 – The resident at the centre of the row speaks to the MEN , saying their issue is with the club nights (not the gigs) and that he’s spent thousands of pounds trying to insulate his flat from the noise.

November 2021 – Local artist Paul Hallows, who works under the name himHallows, creates a series of tongue-in-cheek free posters about the whole situation.

October 2022 – Night & Day pushes its petition to have its NAN removed again, as the venue says its future ‘still hangs in the balance’. It claims that complying with the requirements of the abatement notice ‘would effectively ruin Night & Day’s business’.

November 2022 – Night & Day heads to court for the first time, with celebrities rallying around the venue. Jeremy Pritchard from Everything Everything, Elbow’s frontman Guy Garvey, and Matty Healy from The 1975 all lend their support.

November 2022 – Manchester City Council confirms it’s had five complaints from four different flats – not just the one at the centre of the row.

December 2022 – Blossoms perform at the venue to mark one year to go until the opening of the Co-op Live Arena. They have #SaveNightandDay posters plastered to their equipment.

Summer 2023 – Matty Healy pops up to the flat and tries to buy flat for cash, according to reports in The Mill. The sale fell through because The 1975 were sued for a large sum, after Matty kissed his bandmate on stage in protest of Malaysia’s anti-LGBTQ+ laws.

January 2024 – Night & Day heads back to court for a three-day hearing. There were several other court appearances over this timeline, but to be honest, we’ve lost track too. They said again ‘the source of the problem is that when the adjoining building was converted from warehouse to flats, no consideration was given to the pre-existing live music venue’.

March 2024 – It all wraps up quickly at Manchester Magistrates’ court, and the NAN is upheld. Night & Day can remain open, but will have to compromise.

Debuting in the late '90s, P!NK quickly developed her own identity, transforming pop songcraft and powerhouse, rock-influenced vocals into a winning combination that kept her in the Top Ten for decades. With a string of number one singles and millions of albums and tickets sold globally, P!NK is one of the most commercially successful pop acts in the world.

P!NK has released eight studio albums, one greatest hits album, one live album, sold over 60 million albums equivalents, and over 75 million singles. About The Script

Irish trio The Script are one of the world ’ s most successful bands: five previous platinum-selling albums, 6 UK No.1 albums, 7 Irish No.1 albums, 6 billion streams, 30 million single sales, 11 million album sales, over 13 million monthly Spotify listeners and 2 million tickets sold across headline shows globally, plus their No.1 smash 'Hall of Fame ’ feat Will.I.Am recently surpassed a landmark 1 billion streams on Spotify. Last year saw them complete another headline arena tour taking their Greatest Hits tour on the global stage.  Highlights in UK & Ireland included huge shows at London ’ s The O2, Edinburgh Castle and Dublin ’ s 3Arena. The band also recently released a series of acoustic sessions offering stripped back versions of fan favourites including ’ Superheroes ’ , ‘ I Want It All ’ , ‘ For The First Time ’ and 'The Man Who Can ’ t Be Moved ’ .  They also recently released a new single ‘ Dare You To Doubt Me ’ recorded while on the road of their global tour.

About GAYLE

GAYLE ’ s debut EP, a study of the human experience volume one, captures the now GRAMMY-nominated 18-year-old singer/songwriter ’ s most specific and vividly real emotions: the tension between longing for connection and fearing vulnerability, the risk and thrill of refusing to compromise your own needs. Released in early 2022, the project features her electrifying chart topping smash single ‘ abcdefu ’ : a triple-Platinum anthem that propelled the Nashville-based artist to over 2 billion streams globally and such milestones as a recent GRAMMY nomination for “ Song Of The Year,” being named as a Billboard Music Awards finalist, receiving American Music Award and People ’ s Choice Award nominations for Best New Artist, and receiving 2 MTV VMA nominations. In the midst of navigating that whirlwind success, GAYLE headed back into the studio to create ‘a study of the human experience volume two’ — a powerful new EP that doubles down on its predecessor ’ s unapologetic truth-telling, highlighted by the playfully chaotic ‘ fmk (with blackbear) ’ . “ If my music can help other people to make better sense of themselves, to come to terms with who they are and what they ’ re feeling, then that means the world to me,” says GAYLE. American Songwriter perfectly summarises: “ GAYLE ’ s uncensored honesty as a lyrical storyteller is what makes her music so captivating.” Praised for her magnetic live performances, GAYLE will be on tour across North America and Europe throughout the first half of 2023.

About KidCutUp

His talents are in demand and his edits and remixes have been played by the likes of Diplo, DJ Khaled, The Chainsmokers, Z-Trip, and others. Pink Adds New 2024 Tour Dates – Setlist & Ticket Info

pink uk tour 2023 support

Pink , the rock-influenced pop singer who rose to stardom in the early 2000s, has announced new tour dates amidst her ongoing Summer Carnival tour.

Pink is currently on her highly popular Summer Carnival stadium tour, which started on June 7, 2023 , at the University of Bolton Stadium in Bolton, England, and will conclude on November 23, 2024, at LoanDepot Park in Miami. The newly announced tour dates are seamlessly integrated between her summer tour and a series of previously scheduled P!NK LIVE fall dates. While the summer tour features support from Sheryl Crow , The Script, and DJ act KidCutUp, the additional dates will showcase only The Script and KidCutUp.

Since the early 2000s, Pink’s music has offered an edginess and authenticity that serves as both guidance and empowerment for women worldwide. In her acceptance speeches, she consistently addresses her desire to set an example for her daughter and uplift women everywhere.

Pink solidified her outspoken attitude in her 2006 album I’m Not Dead , which featured politically charged songs like “Dear Mr. President,” and included the poignant track “Conversations with My 13 Year Old Self,” which delved into the struggles of adolescence. However, it was her smash hit single, “Stupid Girls,” that solidified Pink’s status as a feminist icon within the realm of pop music. In this song, she criticized society’s obsession with scantily clad women and targeted everything from women in rap music videos to the notion that a woman’s sole purpose is to appease men.
