WhatsApp has been available as a desktop app on Mac since 2016 although it was only in 2023 that it was finally released on the Mac App Store as a native app.

The desktop app is the best way of running WhatsApp on a Mac because it has more support for desktop notifications and better keyboard shortcuts than any other method.

WhatsApp For Mac also works natively on both Intel and Apple Silicon M1/M2/M3 Macs.

WhatsApp For Mac has all the same features as the iPhone version including support for group audio and video calling.

It also syncs with the iPhone version of WhatsApp. You still require an iPhone and mobile number to use WhatsApp for Mac as you can’t sign-up for it without a mobile number.

You can download WhatsApp from the Mac App Store here .

When you open the app, you need to scan the QR code with your phone in order to sync your mobile with the desktop app. When you’ve done this, you can start using WhatsApp on your Mac desktop.

All messages that you send with WhatsApp for Mac are synced with your phone and vice versa.

Some of the advantages of the macOS desktop client include keyboard shortcuts such as CMD + Shift + M to mute a conversation and CMD + Shift + U to change the read status of a message.

You also don’t have to log back in every time you close your browser like you have to with the web app.

The web version of WhatsApp was released in early 2015 and was the first time Mac users could use WhatsApp via Google Chrome but has one big drawback.

The web version of WhatsApp does not work with iPhones due to “platform limitations” with Google Chrome (that’s basically Google/Apple talk for “we don’t like each other much”).

It only works with Android, BlackBerry, Nokia and Windows phones. However, if you don’t want to install the desktop version on your Mac, the web version works in your browser and requires no download or installation.

Here’s how to use WhatsApp Web on a Mac:

Update WhatsApp on your mobile device to the latest version. This is very important, otherwise, the web version will not work with it.
Make sure you’ve installed the Google Chrome browser on your Mac. Open it and go to the following address: https://web.whatsapp.com .
Scan the QR code that appears with your mobile device. To do this open WhatsApp on your phone. Select the Menu button by touching the three dots in the top right corner and you’ll see the option “WhatsApp Web”.

When you’ve scanned the code in Google Chrome, you’re done. You can then chat using WhatsApp Messenger on your Mac. Like on your phone, you will receive desktop notifications when a user has messaged you.

All chats will be synced with your phone when you return to it. You can logout of WhatsApp Web on your Mac at any time but if you do, you’ll need to go through the QR code scanning process again to log back on.

It’s a good idea to make sure you are using WiFi on your phone when logged onto WhatsApp Web on Macs because if your phone is connected to WhatsApp via 3/4G, it will also use your data plan to sync messages while you are using WhatsApp on your Mac.

If you don’t want to connect or sync WhatsApp with your phone then you can also use WhatsApp on a Mac without a connected phone.

Thanks to multi-device support in WhatsApp you can now use WhatsApp on up to 4 different devices without a connected phone.

To link your WhatsApp account to your Mac without an iPhone or iPad follow these instructions.

Open WhatsApp on your phone
Select Settings > Linked Devices
Tap Multi-Device Beta , then tap the blue Join Beta button.
Tap Back and select Link a Device

Open the WhatsApp for Mac desktop app if you have it otherwise go to WhatsApp Web and scan the QR code that appears in your browser.

You can now send and receive WhatsApp messages from your Mac without having to have a phone connected to the internet. All calls and messages will be encrypted as they are on a phone.

There are limitations to using WhatsApp on a Mac this way though.

You cannot delete messages or conversations using WhatsApp without a connected phone
You cannot message or call users that have an outdated version of WhatsApp on their phone
You can only have one phone connected to your WhatsApp account at one time
If you don’t use your main WhatsApp account on your phone for more than 14 days, your Mac version of WhatsApp will disconnect and stop working for security reasons.

ChitChat for Mac is a free app that basically wraps the web app into Safari and then makes it available as an application that you can launch from your Dock like any other.

It means that you don’t need a browser to use WhatsApp web and works like a separate app on your Mac:

There are some little glitches like the media upload button doesn’t work but you can also upload video and audio to ChitChat by dragging it into the app.

The most complicated way to use WhatsApp on your Mac is to install an Android emulator.

This method is definitely more complicated and impractical because it requires an extra mobile number since WhatsApp only allows you to have one account installed on one device at a time unless you’re using the official app.

The Android emulator method is worth doing however if you plan to install other apps on your Mac which are only available on mobile (such as Candy Crush).

Here we show you all the ways to use WhatsApp on your Mac so you can decide which one is best for you.

Although Bluestacks used to be the most popular way to install Android apps on Mac, it has become less reliable in recent years so this method does not require the Bluestacks Android emulator.

Download this ISO image of Android . Download the first file in the list which should be the one with the most downloads.
Download Virtual Box for Mac . Virtual Box allows you to run other operating systems – such as Android and Windows – on your Mac. Download the file that says “Download Virtual Box for Mac Hosts”.
Install VirtualBox on your Mac and then when you open it, click “New” in the top left corner.

In the Name field, you can write WhatsApp and in the Type just select “Other” as Android is not on the list.

Move the Memory slider somewhere in the middle.

Select the second option “Create a Virtual HardDrive Now”.

Select the first option “VirtualBox Disk Image”.

Select the first option “Dynamically Allocated”.

You can call the new Hard Drive “WhatsApp”. Click Create.

You’re now ready to setup Android on your Mac. You’ll see your new WhatsApp Virtual Drive in the left menu. Make sure it is selected and click Start. You’ll then be prompted to select a Virtual Disk which is the Android ISO you downloaded earlier. Browse to the Android ISO file and click Start.

Of course, you’ll need a mobile number that is not already setup with a WhatsApp account to do this as you can only use one WhatsApp account on one device at a time.

Bluestacks for Mac is an Android emulator which allows you to play Android games and use Android apps on a Mac.

It’s easier than using Virtual Box to install and Android emulator although it can be unreliable and unstable on a Mac.

Here’s how to install WhatsApp on a Mac using Bluestacks.

You’ll find all of the pre-installed Android apps in your Dock which includes WhatsApp.

However, the preinstalled Whatsapp will not work . You have to reinstall it by doing the following. Click on the Facebook app in Bluestacks and login into your Facebook account. Send yourself a message with the following link in it: http://www.whatsapp.com/android/

Click on the link and then click “Download Now”.

WhatsApp will then start to download in Bluestacks App Player. You can see the status of the download by dragging down the status bar as if you were using an Android phone.

When it’s finished, click on it to install Whatsapp on Mac. Then simply follow the install instructions as if you were installing Whatsapp on an Android phone.

Do you see a yellow bar at the top of your chat list indicating that your device is not connected to WhatsApp web? Try logging out and then in again if so and make sure your WiFi connection is working properly.

My mac currently running on Yosemite. However, regarding the Virtual Machine step, I have stuck at the very last step which require me to enter the verification code by sms. Then it gives me this “SMS verification failed, please try voice verification”.

Question is how do I put in the verification code using my macbook? Could you please help me with that? I could send you screenshot of it.

Zakwan, You must use the voice verification method. Make sure the SIM card is in a phone, and choose the voice verification method. You will then receive an automated call with a code which you can then enter in WhatsApp on your Mac to activate it. Let us know if you have anymore problems with it.

I installed the latest beta version of Bluestacks and got Whatapp working nicely – but after exiting Bluestacks I now can’t open Bluestacks again – it hangs on loading. I have deleted config files as some suggest, reinstalled several times with no success.

I ran BlueStacks under dtruss and it is hanging in a loop on (among some other stuff)

Hi Jonathan, Glad the tutorial helped you. Have you recently upgraded OS X? Try using Disk Utility to repair permissions first and see if that helps but restart your Mac afterwards. If it doesn’t, uninstall Bluestacks, then repair permissions and reinstall it again. Hope it helps.

You need another phone card i.e. another SIM card for WhatsApp on your Mac. You can’t use the same number that you currently have on your phone with this workaround.

I can see the icons but when I press something its shows up and then immediately disappear…

Try uninstalling Bluestacks and then downloading this version of Bluestacks instead and let us know if it works.

Can you explain the exact problem? Does it get stuck on the loading screen? Can you see the apps at all? You may find some of the answers on the Bluestacks for Mac support page too.

What happens if you simultaneously use your WhatsApp account on your smartphone and Mac?

Unfortunately you can’t. You can only use one WhatsApp account on one device at one time. The best you can do is install Notifyr so that you can simultaneously receive WhatsApp messages on your Mac and iPhone but you can only send messages from your iPhone.

The Bluestacks app can be very temperamental on Mac as can the Bluestacks servers. Can you see any of the apps other than Facebook? If not, try uninstalling and then reinstalling Bluestacks.

You can’t use the same WhatsApp account as the one you’re already using on your phone. You need a separate phone number to install it on your Mac.

It seems that the older version of WhatsApp is not working for for some users when verifying. The only solution is to download the latest version of WhatsApp instead.

Just try the download again as the Bluestacks server may have been busy. Unfortunately, you can only activate WhatsApp on one device per account so you can’t use the same account for your phone as you can for your Mac. However, if you just want to receive WhatsApp messages from the same account as the one on your phone on your Mac, use Notifyr for Mac .

Hi, Unfortunately this workaround to get WhatsApp on Mac doesn’t work with OS X 10.5.8 Leopard as Bluestacks doesn’t support it. You need to be using OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard or higher. The best thing to do is simply upgrade your version of OS X.

There is no other way to install WhatsApp on Mac OS X 10.5.8. If you’re Mac is still running Leopard, then your Mac is probably quite old and it’s probably best you try to upgrade to Snow Leopard .

How does the verification code work? It obviously won’t detect an automatic SMS, but i got the SMS, so where do I type in the code?

Sorry to hear that Rosie. It’s worth installing Apple’s Find My iPhone/iPad to recover stolen devices. Unfortunately your iMac is simply too old to run Bluestacks. There’s not much you can do other than upgrade your Mac. MacMall have some good cheap deals on new Macs if it’s any help.

Hi Daniela, I’m afraid not! You can only register one WhatsApp account to one number on one device. You would need to buy a new sim card with a new number to use it on your Mac.

It may be that it’s stopped working with OS X 10.9.2. Try installing the latest version and see if you have the same problem.

Make sure that Gatekeeper is deactivated in OS X 10.9 because it stops apps from outside the Mac App Store (such as Bluestacks) installing on Mac. You can see how to deactivate Gatekeeper here .

The workaround above for getting WhatsApp on your Mac doesn’t require you to open Twitter – only Facebook. It sounds like it may be a server problem for you but for general problems with Bluestacks you should contact Bluestacks customer support .

My bluestack app is stuck on the loading screen. I tried re-installing but doesn’t help.

Simply hit the Menu Button and then go to Settings and then Date and Time in WhatsApp and change the Timezone to your region.

Lyla, It’s very important that you are using this older version of Bluestacks . It does not work with the latest version of Bluestacks.

hi, thanks for getting back to me. I’m running os x 10.8.5 not updated for a while (only update available to me is maverick) when i tried to make it start it would say app player starting then eventually app player unknown.

I’ve got it going again, i think it was conflicting with the software I’m using for my 3G dongle.

Bluestacks doesn’t come pre-installed with WhatsApp. You must follow the instructions above to install WhatsApp within Bluestacks.

André, The simplest thing to do to get your contacts on WhatsApp in Bluestacks on your Mac is to add your mobile contacts to your gmail or google account and then add your gmail/google account to Bluestacks and then autosync it with WhatsApp.

You can’t add it as it’s a web application but if you search the store in Bluestacks (just like searching the Play store on an Android device) there are apps that you can download that allow you to check Gmail in Bluestacks.

It sounds like a temporary problem with the Bluestacks servers. Keep trying and if it still doesn’t work after a few hours, let us know.

i seem to be having the same issue, blue stacks doesn’t seem to be able to launch any of the pre existing apps. So the step of launching facebook cant be carried out rendering the whole process useless.

Tamer, Make sure you are using the older version of Bluestacks player . This workaround to get WhatsApp on your Mac does not work in the latest version of Bluestacks.

If I input my whatsapp number that is currently in my phone, would it work? Or should I use another number that has not been registered in whatsapp before?

It may be better to register a new number if you plan to use it frequently. If you verify your account on different devices too much, WhatsApp may block you .

You can use install the Twitter app instead if you have a Twitter account. You can install any app in fact as long as it allows you to send the WhatsApp link to yourself.

WhatsApp this year introduced a new version of its macOS app that was completely rebuilt from scratch to run natively on Mac computers. This app was launched in August but was only available through the WhatsApp website. As of today, the native WhatsApp app for macOS is also available to download from the Mac App Store.

The news was shared by the WhatsApp team (via MacMagazine ), and according to Meta (which owns the platform), the new WhatsApp for macOS is now available “globally” on the Mac App Store. The Mac app has been merged with the iPhone app on the App Store, so it’s now a universal app with a single download link.

Tests with the new version of WhatsApp for macOS began in July last year . While the old version is essentially a web app built with Electron, the new app is based on the iPhone version and has been ported to macOS with Catalyst technology.

Because of this, WhatsApp on the Mac now runs faster and gets the same features available on the iPhone, such as group audio and video calls. It’s worth noting that native apps also use fewer hardware resources, so they help save some battery life – which is great for MacBook users.

With the Mac app, WhatsApp users can access their account right from their computer even when their phone isn’t around. However, the Mac version is only a companion app, which means you still need a WhatsApp account set up on the phone to use it. WhatsApp has also been running tests with a beta version for the iPad .

WhatsApp is available for free on the App Store . While the iPhone version requires iOS 12 or later, the Mac version requires macOS 11 (Big Sur) or later.

How to Download WhatsApp Desktop for Mac

You have two ways to download and install the WhatsApp desktop app for the Mac. You can get the app from the Mac App Store or the WhatsApp website. Both app versions are the same, so you can use whichever method is best for you.

Download WhatsApp From the App Store

To get WhatsApp from Apple , open the App Store on your Mac and follow these steps.

Type “WhatsApp” in the Search box on the top left and press Return .

When you see WhatsApp Messenger in the list of results, select it.

Optionally review the description and choose Get to download the app to your Mac.

Enter your password, or use Touch/Face ID, to authorize the download if prompted.

Download WhatsApp From the Website

If you’re browsing the internet or using WhatsApp’s web version, you can download WhatsApp for the Mac from the website.

Visit WhatsApp on the web and either select the green Download button on the top right or pick Download in the top navigation and then Download once more on the subsequent screen.

Follow any prompts per your web browser to grant permission for the download.

Open the Downloads folder for the web browser you’re using and select the WhatsApp installer file.

Use the WhatsApp Tabs

You’ll see the same tabs in WhatsApp on Mac as in the mobile app, although displayed along the left side of the app window instead of the bottom of the screen.

Chats : Start a new message or continue a previous conversation.
Calls : Make a voice or video call and view your call history.
Status : View items disappearing after 24 hours or channel updates.

Use WhatsApp With the Menu Bar

Menu items are grayed out if they aren’t applicable at the time. For example, if you’re on the WhatsApp Calls tab, the Chat menu actions are unavailable.

WhatsApp : See the app’s version number, open the Settings, check for updates, and quit WhatsApp.
File : Start a new chat or call, open a recent item, use the search, or close the window.
Chat : Hide a chat, see a contact’s details, and archive, pin, or mute a conversation.
Call : Mute the microphone, turn off the camera, show the participants, or choose a connected device.

A major drawback of this method is that you won’t be able to use WhatsApp on your phone if you register the same phone number in this Android emulator.

If you’re okay with that, here’s what you need to do to get WhatsApp running on your Mac:

Head over to the BlueStacks site and download and install the free tool on your Mac.
Launch BlueStacks and log in to your Google account.
Search for WhatsApp , click it when you find it, and install it.
Click Open to open the newly installed WhatsApp app in your virtual Android system.
When WhatsApp opens, it’ll ask you to enter your phone number. Enter the number you want to use.
Choose the call method to verify your number. You need to answer the call from WhatsApp, listen to the code, and enter it on your Mac’s screen.
The app should be working now.

Now you can message your friends and family as if you were doing so from your phone. Make sure to keep BlueStacks running to ensure you don’t miss out on any notifications for WhatsApp.

One more thing you need to know is how to share files in BlueStacks. Since you’re in an emulated environment, you need to use BlueStacks’ Media Manager to send and receive files in WhatsApp. This tool will allow you to send files from your Mac to your WhatsApp recipients and to get files from them to your Mac machine.

The new native version of WhatsApp for Mac, which has been available in beta since January , is now available on the Mac App Store . Until now, this new WhatsApp app was only available as a standalone download from WhatsApp’s website .

Compared to the previous web-based version, this new client introduces a redesigned UI that makes WhatsApp look more like a native Mac app. It can also be used without an active connection to the WhatsApp app on your phone, and you can also enable notifications for incoming calls when the app is closed.

The new WhatsApp for Mac also adds support for group calls. You can talk with up to 8 people in video calls and up to 32 people in audio calls, and also join a group call after it has already been stated. Another new feature is the ability to drag and drop files into a chat conversation.

While a native version of WhatsApp is now available on the Mac App Store, the company has also started testing a new iPad app in beta . This has been a top-requested feature for many years, though there’s still no ETA on when this new iPad app will become generally available.

WhatsApp launches its first native macOS app with group calling support

After what feels like forever, Meta-owned instant messaging platform WhatsApp has finally launched a native macOS app. The new version gives Mac users similar functionality that Windows PC users have enjoyed since March .

The new Mac app is already available for download for free via WhatsApp 's servers, but those who prefer to use the Mac App Store might have to wait a little while — WhatsApp says that it's coming soon.

No matter where you download the upgraded WhatsApp app, you'll benefit from new features, including some that have been brought about by the move to a native macOS app. For the first time, familiar Mac features such as drag and drop are available to WhatsApp users. Files can easily be dragged and then dropped into a chat for convenience, while those with longer chat histories will now see more of them, we're told.

WhatsApp announced its new app via a blog post , noting that there are improved calling features for those who want to take advantage of them.

"With the new WhatsApp app for Mac, you can now make group calls from your Mac for the first time, connecting with up to 8 people on video calls and up to 32 people on audio calls," the blog post explains. "Now you can join a group call after it’s started, see your call history and choose to receive incoming call notifications even when the app is closed."

Alongside the new drag-and-drop support, WhatsApp users can also expect all of the usual features that they're used to. That means that their chats will continue to be end-to-end encrypted, and cross-platform support will continue to make WhatsApp one of the best instant messaging platforms around. In a world where Apple continues to refuse to support RCS on its devices, third-party apps remain a requirement for communicating with people across the Android-iPhone divide.

The new native WhatsApp Mac app can be downloaded from the company's website right now. You'll need macOS 11 Big Sur or later, and you'll need a Mac running on Apple silicon — so that's M1 or later, folks. Don't have a Mac that meets those requirements? WhatsApp web is still available.

That scary Safari malware that infected your Mac? There might be a very simple fix

I was recently visiting my parents when I got the dreaded question: I think my Mac has a virus but I thought Macs didn’t get viruses? They were obviously a little concerned and somewhat embarrassed that they could have allowed something to happen to their Mac.

First off: yes, your Mac can get a virus , though it is still somewhat rare. After all, there are far fewer viruses in the wild to attack macOS than Windows, and way more PCs than Macs in the world. But there are Mac attacks in the wild and many of them originate within a web browser.

There are plenty of ways to scan your Mac for viruses and protect it from incoming attacks. Apple even has its own built-in antivirus tech called XProtect that constantly scans for known malware. But even with all that protection, things can get through.

Still, if you’re getting messages popping up on your Mac warning you about a critical virus with scary emoji, it’s probably not a virus. There’s a good chance it’s just an application notification masquerading as a critical system alert.

In the Safari settings, you can turn individual website notifications on and off.

Here’s what happened. While browsing with Safari, my parents either clicked on an ad or were served a pop-up that brought them to the updates-mac.com site. When they got there, another box asked them if they wanted to receive notifications from the site. In a fit of clicking to get away, they somehow clicked “Allow” when asked whether they wanted to receive notifications. That told Safari that it was OK to spam them with scary-looking alerts.

Thankfully there’s an easy fix—head over to the Websites tab in the Safari Settings in the menu bar and deny permission for the site to send alerts under the Notifications tab—but had they clicked the alert, there might not have been. The truth is, these alerts aren’t just designed to annoy, they’re hoping to fool you into clicking the wrong thing or signing into the wrong box and giving access to your accounts or computer.

Apple also has a malware tracker built into macOS called XProtect and is constantly updating the OS to patch any known vulnerabilities. To limit any further damage, you can download an antivirus app , which will protect you from inadvertently installing something malicious and help you get rid of it if something gets through. But for everything else, just check your Safari notifications first.

How to update macOS

While you can't update Safari without updating macOS, you can check which version of Safari you're currently using. To do so, open the Safari app on your Mac and click on Safari from the menu bar. Now, select About Safari from the dropdown menu. Once you do so, a dialogue box will appear. The version of Safari you're currently using should be mentioned below the "Safari" text.

If you'd like to update Safari, follow the steps below to update macOS:

Click the Apple menu in the menu bar and select System Settings from the dropdown menu.

Select General from the sidebar on the left.

Click Software Update and wait for a few seconds.

Now, if a new update is available, click Update Now next to Updates Available.

If a Safari-specific update is available, you can click More Info and select Safari from the "Updates are available for your Mac" section.

To avoid having to update macOS manually to update Safari, we recommend enabling automatic updates. This way, you won't miss out on new features and can rest easy, knowing that Apple has fixed any known security threats . To do so, click the info icon next to Automatic updates and toggle on the switch next to Download new updates when available, Install macOS updates, and Install Security Responses and system files.

And often, you can get better compression out of an MP4 file, making for a smaller file size too.

Is converting a MOV file to MP4 format with ffmpeg difficult?

No. But, because ffmpeg is used at the command line, it’s slightly more advanced than using a GUI app.

If you’re comfortable with the command line, the entire process will be familiar and easy to you.

If you’re new to the command line, but comfortable trying, just follow along and you’ll have your file converted quickly.

How to Convert MOV to MP4 on Mac with ffmpeg

First, you need to have Homebrew installed on your Mac, which makes it easy to download and install command line packages and apps. If you don’t have Homebrew yet, install that first.

Open the Terminal application
From the command line, install ffmpeg with the following brew command:

brew install ffmpeg

Hit return and let ffmpeg install on the Mac, which will look like this as it proceeds:
When finished installing, you’re ready to use ffmpeg to start converting the MOV file to MP4 format, using the following command format:

ffmpeg -i inputFile.mov OutputFile.mp4

Swap inputFile.mov and OutputFile.mp4 for your files and their paths, for example for a file named “ConvertMe.mov” in the user Desktop folder, you could use the following, which would convert the MOV input to an MP4 file named “ConvertedFile.mp4” in the same directory:

ffmpeg -i ~/Desktop/ConvertMe.mov ~/Desktop/ConvertedFile.mp4

After the mov file conversion has finished, your mp4 video file is ready to use, share, stream, or whatever your plan is for it

That’s it, your MOV video file is now an MP4 video file.

That’s about as simple as it gets, and it’s relatively easy and straightforward, even for people who are not experts with the command line.

Can I transcode the MOV video to MP4 with a different video/audio codec?

ffmpeg is a very powerful tool that will let you convert and transcode videos and their audio using different codecs. You can specify codec with the -c flag with ffmpeg, like so this example which specifies a codec for both video and audio:

ffmpeg -i input.mov -c:v libx264 -c:a aac output.mp4

That example -c flag used here is broken down as follows:

-c:v libx264 means encode video with the H.264 video codec
-c:a aac means encode the audio with AAC codec

ffmpeg is incredibly powerful with support for many codecs, and other options that may be helpful or beneifical when converting video files from mov to mp4, or to and from any other format for that matter.

Beyond the Mac, what about PC? Does ffmpeg work for converting MOV to MP4 on Windows PC and Linux too?

While we’re focused on the Mac here, ffmpeg is available not only for MacOS, but also for Linux, and Windows WSL , so technically you don’t have to follow this guide on a Mac. You can use the exact same tool for converting .mov to .mp4 from Windows, Linux, MacOS, and even much older versions of Mac OS X, if you’re potentially running on an antiquated system.

If you’re on another OS and using ffmpeg, simply skip the Homebrew section and install it through your method of choice, depending on your operating system. You can download ffmpeg as a prebuilt executable, binary, build, or package from the project homepage at ffmpeg.org .

Forget ffmpeg and the terminal, are there other ways to convert MOV to MP4 on a Mac?

If you want nothing to do with the command line and terminal, you can also convert MOV to MP4 with GUI apps, including iMovie, VLC, and various third party apps and tools.

I have converted .mov files to.mp4 files by just changing the file extension. MacOS asks if you want to change the extension , click ok and you are done.

I second this method. Use it all the time no software needed.

My go to GUI app for converting video formats is the Open Source app Handbrake. https://handbrake.fr/downloads.php and it is available for Mac/Linux/Win
