Welcome to Revelle College. I'm Alyssa a fourth year cognitive and behavioral neuroscience major.

And I'm Andrew, a fourth year in neurobiology and international business major. We are so excited to be your tour guides and tell you more about Revelle College. We love being a part of Revelle. The Revelle community neighborhood truly feels like a home away from home.

Revelle college is situated at the south end of campus. We are neighbors to our friends at Muir College and what will be the new Theater District Living Learning Community for Eighth College, which is scheduled for completion in fall 2023. The heart of Revelle is Revelle Plaza, which is a hub for catching some sun, hanging out with friends between classes, and Revelle events. Within Revelle Plaza is our beautiful fountain. It is one of my favorite spots to sit after a long day.

South of the plaza is Galbraith Hall. Galbraith Hall is home to our Revelle administration, which includes our awesome academic advising team and Revelle College staff. Have a question about classes, research opportunities, or involvement? Need someone to talk to like Dean Sherry, our Dean of Student Affairs? On typical day Galbraith Hall is where you can find our staff at Revelle, who really care about us and are here to support us as students.

Just beyond the plaza to the west is 64 Degrees, our dining facility, you can't miss it. It has a big yellow 64 Degrees sign outside. It is the best and closest spot to grab some food and midnight snacks. Pro tip: the burgers and curly fries are my favorite. Next to that is Roger's Market where students can grab coffee, baked goods, and even fresh groceries.

Next is 64 Degrees and Rogers Market are Revelle's residence halls and apartments. Fargo Hall, Blake Hall, and The Fleet, all named after important research and sailing vessels, are suite-style residence halls for the first-year students. The Keeling Apartments, named after scientist Charles Keeling, our suite-style apartments for the second-year students. Full-time and part-time staff live with the students to help build community and help us when we need it.

In a courtyard between The Fleet and 64 Degrees, stands an anchor that serves as an artistic outlet for our students. We can spray paint the anchor anytime, any color. Recently, it was painted blue and gold to celebrate UC San Diego's annual Spirit Night.

Welcome to Muir College. I'm Lili, I'm a third year student studying microbiology and sociology.

And I'm Vincent, I'm a third year student studying sociology. We are so excited to be your tour guides as we show and tell you more about the Muir College neighborhood.

Muir College is situated on the west side of campus between our amazing neighbors Revelle and Sixth colleges. Muir Quad, your starting point in our neighborhood, is the grassy area amongst the residence halls and Stewart Commons.

The heart of Muir though his Mom's Cafe. Mom's Cafe is always bustling with activity and students throughout the day and, with so many great drink options, it's hard to pick your favorite until you've tried them all.

Within Muir Quad is one of our favorite gathering places. It is our community student hang up, there's a quiet room a conference table, couches for a quick nap and plenty of outlets to charge your devices.

Another favorite spot are the solar powered tables to charge your phone or laptop outside of Mom's Cafe. Here, you can eat your meal from Pines or Roots, meet up with your friends and enjoy our unique sculpture when the world comes to life. This sculpture was the first installed art piece at UC San Diego which was created by a Native American artist, reminding us that we are studying on Kumeyaay land.

If you are looking for quick espresso, milkshake, groceries or some delicious pastries, you have to check out John's Market located on the ground level of the Tamarack Apartments. It's the perfect one-stop shop on the go.

Welcome to Thurgood Marshall College. In this tour, I will guide you through special places in our neighborhood.

My name is Katherine, and I'm excited to guide you through landmarks that will hopefully be the sites of some of the most memorable experiences of your life. Marshall College is dedicated to supporting students and becoming engaged scholars and citizens who are committed to serving society. As we highlight Marshall College focal points, we would like to acknowledge and honor the Kumeyaay people, also known as the Tipai/Ipai of the land upon which UC San Diego stands. Today's audio tour will take you through the current footprint of Thurgood Marshall College. Our college will be going through a complete neighborhood Renaissance over the next two years. So this tour will share history and information for what the footprint will look like when students arrive in fall.

When you arrive on campus, it is likely that Ridge Walk, which is the pedestrian pathway we will take you through today, will have alternate routes mapped those routes have not yet been determined. But regardless, you are part of a vibrant community. Located on the corner of Muir lane, just north of Sungod Lawn is the entrance of the Marshall College footprint. Immediately across from the sign announcing Thurgood Marshall College. This is Chicano Legacy Mural. Working with literature professor Jorge Mariscal, and students in the campus organization Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlán (MEChA), artists Mario Torero created a two by eight foot painting that included familiar faces Cesar Chavez, cultural icons, the corn mother and local places like Chicano Park. He expanded it to a mural size, and the canvas was hung outside Peterson hall in 2009 in an installation that was intended to be temporary. Through extensive campus student activism and campus administration, it was made a permanent mosaic. The mural is now a beloved landmark and a source of pride for the campus community.

About 300 meters north along Ridge Walk is a bronze bust of the college's namesake, the late US Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall. Born in 1908, in Baltimore, Maryland, Marshall was the great grandson of an enslaved person from the present day Congo region. After attending Lincoln University, he applied to the University of Maryland law school and was denied admission on racial grounds that he later successfully challenged as a lawyer for the NAACP. He mounted various anti-segregation lawsuits culminating in the historic Brown vs Board of Education case in 1954. This was all before he served as an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States. Marshall College, with its commitment to a diverse student population and inclusive education, could not be possible without his contributions. During construction, the bronze bust of Justice Thurgood Marshall will be temporarily off display to keep it safe.

Just a few paces away. Along Ridge Walk is a statue of a titan of social transformation by the name of Sojourner Truth. Born into enslavement around 1797, Sojourner Truth overcame incredible hurdles to become a preeminent orator, abolitionist and advocate for women's rights. Her powerful speeches are reported to have electrified crowds. If you approach the six foot bronze statue designed by UC San Diego alumna Manuelita Brown, you will notice the artist's decision to cast truce figure in life size scale, a feature she hoped would invite audiences to engage in Truth's humanity. During construction, the bronze sculpture will also be off display.

Adjacent to the former administration building is one of the newest campus neighborhoods, the North Torrey Pines Living and Learning neighborhood complex and home to Sixth College. The complex houses classrooms, a three story dining area with five restaurants, a market with globally inspired cuisine, and a brilliant art installation, the Stuart Collection same old paradise, where you might choose to wile away your spare hours.

Directly south and across from the new neighborhood, nestled within Mira College, is the Humanities and Social Sciences building known as HSS. It is the current temporary location of Marshall College Academic Advising and Student Affairs and the home of your academic and student life journey here at UC San Diego.

All of this is just a taste of the richness packed into the slice of campus that is Thurgood Marshall College. We hope you enjoy learning more about our neighborhood and hope that this tour marks just the beginning of your exploration. Welcome to UC San Diego and life and Marshall College!

We are so glad we can share what we love about being a Warren College student at UC San Diego.

Earl Warren College was established in 1974 as the fourth undergraduate college at UC San Diego. Coming from Price Center and Geisel Library. The Warren College seal is the official welcome to our neighborhood.

Our college motto, "Toward a life and balance," is inspired by the philosophy of our namesake: former Chief Justice Earl Warren. The seal honors not just our motto, but also the legal profession that Justice Warren dedicated his life to.

Warren college is dedicated to cultivating ethically responsible citizen scholars who will flourish during their careers at UC San Diego and beyond.

As you pass through this area, be sure to not just step on it, as it is bad luck for a Warren student to step on the seal so be careful.

High above Warren Mall are two pieces from Stewart Art Collection that have become iconic landmarks at UC San Diego.

The Fallen Star is a small house that looks like it is falling from the Jacobs School of Engineering Building. The inside of the house is designed to instill a feeling of vertigo, the visitors have to find their footing. Similarly this can represent the way new students are asked to adapt mentally and physically to a new college campus.

The second artpiece, Vices and Virtues, sits on top of the Charles Lee Powell Structural Systems Laboratory. Neon signs alternate to display seven vices and seven virtues. It said that the first one you see when you look at the building at the beginning of the new quarter predicts how your quarters come to go.

Welcome to the heart of Warren College, the Warren rock Bear.

This sculpture, simply titled "Bear," was devised by artist Tim Hawkinson and installed in 2005. As part of the Stewart Art Collection.

We in the Warren community affectionately call him Bearl. As a tribute to our namesake former Chief Justice Earl Warren.

Bearl is the unofficial mascot of Warren College and one of the most iconic landmarks at UC San Diego. Even though he is over 26 feet tall and weighs over 180 tons. Bearl is still a cuddly teddy bear.

The courtyard that Bearl calls home is a great place to grab a coffee, have lunch with friends and, of course, steady.

The Warren student experience isn't complete unless you take a picture with Bearl, so be sure to visit him the next time you're in the neighborhood.

The "Warren Grow!" garden is both a community garden and student organization.

A garden functions as a hub for students to harvest fresh produce to distribute to the general community. "Warren Grow!" also allows students to rent a plot to harvest their own produce.

Grow! as a student org, functions to educate the campus community on topics in gardening, sustainability and environmental science. Their mission is to help students get hands-on opportunities to learn how to grow organic vegetables, composting methods and gain leadership opportunities.

The garden is also located near the Warren Student Activity Center (SAC), available to all students who need a break from their busy schedules. Be sure to stop by sometime to check out the fun amenities that SAC has to offer.

Canyon Vista Amphitheater is located in the middle of the Warren College residential neighborhood and connects to the Canyon Vista restaurant, or CV, as we call it.

The name Canyon Vista comes from an amazing view of the canyon that runs through our campus. CV is a great place to grab freshly cooked meals or snacks from the market. You can also visit JK Wood Lounge on the second floor to study.

Located just in front of the amphitheater, are grassy fields where various college events take place. There's also a volleyball court and a basketball hoop nearby and it's a great place to play and distress with friends.

Or you can take the really chill approach and relax with a nap in a hammock under the trees.

Yes, life is good in the world neighborhood.

Welcome to Middle Earth. The Middle Earth terrace, where you're standing, and the Gospel Lounge below is the multipurpose hub in the heart of Eleanor Roosevelt College (ERC). Here, students can study, hold club meetings or jam out on the piano. Students living on campus can use their student ID to access the lounge at any time.

Middle Earth opens up to the ERC Green, an open field where you'll often find students studying, playing sports and relaxing. Many events hosted on ERC Green such as Welcome Week, MMW Blowout and Taste of ERC. Attendees of the event can enjoy free food, engage in fun activities and get to meet other students throughout the year. Fun fact: the mix match trees are not an accident. The landscape designer deliberately planted trees representing each of the regions of the world so we can find a tree from each continent.

Looking to the north of the green is the ERC dining hall Cafe Ventanas, or cafe V for short. Looking at the building, it's obvious why the cafe's namesake stems from the Spanish word for "windows," ventanas. Inside Cafe V, there are three stations, including Triton Grill and a global food station. The grill has all the basics like burgers, fries and sandwiches. Another station allows students to build their own pizza, salads, mac and cheese bowl, dessert and more. The possibility at the station are endless.

Cafe V is most famous for its global station, which embodies the theme of ERC, serving a rotation of regional cuisine. Many of these dishes, we might students of a home cooked meal and give them the opportunity to try new food. Cafe V also takes part in the celebration of many holidays. Some of the past years' celebration have included Dia de los Muertos, where Mexican dishes were served. For Mardi Gras celebration, the chef cooked up some classic southern food, and the Lunar New Year celebration had many Asian inspired dishes. Cafe V is one of the buildings that are open to the public during Triton Days. So please stop by for some coffee or grab a bite. Please note campus pandemic protocol requires a masks to be worn in any indoor campus space.

Looking toward the western part of the ERC Green are the ERC residence halls. In keeping with college's global theme, each residence hall is named after a cultural region of the world, starting with North America Hall, all the way to Africa Hall on the opposite side. In a residence hall, students live a "suite life" and each suite comes in six or seven single, double or triple bathrooms surrounding a shared common area like living rooms and a communal bathroom.

Nestled between the continental residence hall, you can find it Ellie's Garden. Ellie's Garden is an ERC organization where a students can lend a helping hand and try fresh produce while meeting other students. Fresh food is just one plus of on campus living here at ERC.

The east side of the ERC green on either side of the Middle Earth terrace, where you're standing, are the ERC apartments, which are each fully complete apartments with single and double bedrooms, living room, bathroom and a full kitchen. First-year students can be assigned to either a residence hall suite or apartment. Second-year eligible students can also live in apartments or building of their choice, or International House. Please note in order to comply with the current campus pandemic protocol. The residential facilities are currently not open to visitors or guests. Please respect our students' privacy and the campus policy and do not enter any residence halls or apartments.

To the south of the year see green is the Student Activity Center. Inside is one of the two ERC the laundry rooms, where students can wash their clothes. This building also includes the parcel center and Amazon lockers where a student can receive any of their mail. There are also a pool and foosball tables which is a popular place for students to hang out and relax. This is also the location where you can find while Manning COVID-19 testing vending machines on campus, free for all UC San Diego students.

Across Scholars Drive, on the east side of ERC, is an array of apartments interconnected by several sky bridges that make up one of ERC's most famous landscape, International House or I-House. Spanning the length of the east side along I-walk, where residents gather to socialize while enjoying a quick game of basketball. I-House is the oldest and largest living learning community on campus, which are specialized neighborhoods open to students from all of UC San Diego through a separate application process. As apartment-style buildings, each student is assigned to a single or double bedroom witha living room, dining room and full kitchen and bathroom. The I-House deliberately houses American and visiting international students together to create a globally focused community that's famous for its effort to foster international awareness and intercultural understanding through a melting pot of fun and intellectually stimulating activity.

Embedded within I-House is one of our newest LLCs, the Raza Living Learning Community where students from all colleges and from abroad can live and learn more about the Latinx culture and history both in the U.S. and Latin America. Again, in order to comply with current campus pandemic protocol, the residential facilities are not currently open to any visitors or guests. Please respect our students' privacy and the campus policy and do not enter any I-House apartments.

Sixth College, founded in 2001, with the goal of preparing students to become dynamic and engaged citizens of the 21st century through the exploration of culture, art, and technology.

We had the pleasure of moving to our permanent home in the fall of 2020, the North Torrey Pines Living Learning Community. Our neighborhood was designed to bring together all aspects of the student experience. The surrounding buildings bring together academic, residential, recreational, creative, dining, and commercial spaces. The goal was to create a space that Sixers would love to call home and the community at large would love to visit.

Our tour begins to the north with Catalyst Hall, named for that special ingredient needed to kickstart a reaction. This building is home to the Sixth College Hub. Students visit The Hub to meet with academic advisors, Student Affairs staff, CAT writing program professors, and CAPS counselors. Provost Lakshmi Chilukuri began a colorful painted rock garden as a way to sit and connect with Sixers. Make sure to stop by and take a look at the hand painted art.

Across from The Hub is a 125-seat lecture hall. Right next to that is Plant Power, one of our eateries. Our Commuter Center is located on the street level and gives our commuter students a place to pass time between classes, heat up their lunch, or rent a locker to store their belongings while trekking all over this campus.

To the northwest you'll see Kaleidoscope, named after the ever-changing artistic beauty that emerges when light dances between mirrors and rainbow-colored pieces of glass, the Sixth College Residential Life Office calls the first floor of this building home. Our team of professional staff members, residential assistants, and interns work together to take this complex from a residence hall to a vibrant community. RAs create opportunities for our residents to build lifelong memories and friendships with their fellow Sixers through floor meetings, socials, and large-scale programs like our annual celebration for Black History Month, Let it Flow, a night where students can enjoy spoken word poetry and soul food.

The Lodge and Dogghouse are flexible programming spaces that can be used as a quiet study area, a place to host student organization meetings, or even an event. Being that we're a short walk to the beach, outdoor showers are available to wash the sand off of your surfboard and wetsuit after hitting the waves.

The West Lawn provides a beautiful space for students to enjoy an impromptu musical performance at the built-in stage, play a quick game of basketball, or sit outdoors to enjoy a meal conversation or the beautiful San Diego weather with friends.

To the southwest is Tapestry Hall, named for a textile art that's created when many colors of thread are woven together to become one beautiful piece. Residents can visit the Housing and Dining Information Office or HI Desk when they get locked out or have questions about their housing. Kaleidoscope and Tapestry residents who are lucky enough to snag a room on the higher level with windows facing to the west also have the added luxury of beautiful ocean views.

To the south, you'll find the aptly named Mosaic Hall, where all aspects of the building come together to form one amazing piece. The first floor you'll find the Jeannie, a 600-seat state-of-the-art auditorium named in honor of San Diegian Jeannie Rifkin. Around the corner, you'll find a vibrant mural entitled "Same Old Paradise" by Alexis Smith. Across the breezeway, you'll find two more 100-seat lecture halls and our Sixth College dining hall.

Guests can enjoy a wide variety of dining options all in one place. San Diego-style taco shop dishes are served up at WolfTown, fresh poke bowls at Makai, ramen soup at Noodles, fresh and healthy grain bowls at Crave, and southern-style barbecue with all the fixings at The Rooftop. The second floor houses our Craft Center. Members of the community can sign up to take wheel-thrown pottery classes, learn to shape a surfboard, or create a piece of jewelry. Definitely the perfect place to get your hands dirty while letting your creativity flow. On the street level, you'll find Sixth College Market, a popular spot to grab a quick pick me up during a late-night study session.

Lastly, to the east is the Ridge Walk Academic Complex, which is filled with faculty and administrative offices and a variety of meeting spaces. The academic divisions of Social Sciences and the Arts and Humanities call this beautiful building home. You'll also find a variety of eateries along Ridge Walk including Copa Vida, Blue Bowl, and Fan-Fan Noodles.

Hi, I'm Stella. I'm a second year student studying mathematics and business. I'm thrilled to be your tour guide as I show and tell you more about the Seventh College neighborhood. Let's start with the market. The market at Seventh College is located in Seventh East Building Six and is one of the largest retail locations on campus. It offers a variety of fresh produce, proteins, dry and frozen groceries, health and beauty items and a deli. You will be able to find what you need to prepare your own meals in your apartment and grab quick grab-n-go snacks. Whether you need an energy boost in the morning or fuel to help you while studying. The market also has a full espresso bar offering coffee drinks and specialty beverages. The Market at Seventh College is part of your Housing and Dining contract and accepts your dining plan. Another one of my favorite spots on campus, specifically in the Seventh College neighborhood, is The Bistro. Stopped by the bistro one of the Housing Dining and Hospitality's most popular locations on campus. Their menu draws inspiration from various Asian cultures and features fresh seafood and noodle dishes. They're best known for their sushi bar where all the roles are made to order. The Bistro is part of your Housing and Dining contract and accepts your dining plan. More information about The Market and The Bistro, including menus and hours of operation can be found at HDHdining.ucsd.edu.

Our next stop is The Gallery. Seventh College's administrative office, known as The Gallery, is located in Seventh College East Building Six, directly above the Seventh College Market. The gallery serves as the administrative hub for Seventh College where students can access academic advising services, check in for Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) appointments, contact and connect with Student Affairs staff and even meet the college provost. The seventh college staff look forward to welcoming you here.

Next on our list is another personal favorite, the game room. Seventh College game room is located in Seventh West Building Three. It offers a friendly, relaxing environment where students can unwind and socialize with others who share similar interests. The game room is equipped with a pool table, foosball table, ping pong table, air hockey, video games and TVs. All games are free for some college students. equipment can be checked out during business hours at the residence life front desk, which is located in Seventh West Building Two. We hope you'll enjoy hanging out with your friends here.

And last but certainly not least, is the North Break. North Breakis located in Seventh West Building Three. North Break provides a quiet study space for Seventh College students and features a large casual study space with open seating at tables and booths for individual study and enclosed class meeting spaces that can be reserved for small groups or private study sessions. Eleanor Roosevelt College has primarily double and triple rooms for first-year students, with some singles available in apartments. Sixth College's new North Torrey Pines Living Learning Neighborhood has double and triple rooms for first-year students, with some singles. Earl Warren College features suites with double and single rooms overlooking the UCSD Ecological Reserve, and some first-year students are housed in apartments. Seventh College is a new community that offers modern apartments with triple and double rooms, and some singles.
