They are especially helpful when it comes to promoting active urban transportation and cycling holidays which is mainly why I’m writing this review. I have dealt with them a lot in the past, having brought a Brompton folding bike from them, and they have always been helpful. However, my recent bikepacking trip to Japan was honestly one of the best experiences of my life and they made it possible. One of their staff members, Zak, even stayed behind after store close to help me pack my new bikepacking bags on my bike. A gesture I have not forgotten. All in all, their knowledge helped me to plan this amazing trip and I recommend this bike shop to anyone who wants to deal with real people, not lacking knowledge of all things bikes. Fantastic! Highly recommend after purchasing a new bike. Zach (the staff member) was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable and patient in guiding me through the decision. I narrowed my options down to two bikes, and had the opportunity to properly test both (taking them for a quick spin in Sydney Park). There was no pressure around the decision process and I really respect that it was all about finding the right bike for my needs (not just the more expensive option).

Always super helpful and friendly. Recently had to go in as a bike we had bought there a while back got a puncture on the wheel, No questions asked, they not only replaced the inner tube, but also added extra tape to the wheel frame and just generally spent time making sure the wheel was in good shape and trying to make sure it didn't happen again. Not sure what more one can ask for.

My daughter bike needed a overall check. Matthew took care of the bike like it was his own and made sure its safe to ride on. Matthew, thank you for your professionalism and an excellent customer service. Because of people like you BIKE 99 earn a loyal customer.

I purchased a bike off Facebook marketplace and immediately had an issue with my handle bars and bike seat. I went in and offered to pay to have these fixed. The staff were absolutely divine and fixed the bike for free even though I was not a customer.

Premium Road Bike Hire

MC is delighted to bring the Experience Fleet to Sydney, featuring the latest Cannondale and Trek models. All bikes are regularly and expertly serviced. We will deliver you the best premium bike hire experience in Sydney, with our own personal touch.

Whether you are visiting for a weekend or longer, or simply wish to experience the newest range of bikes, you have great options with MC.

If you are looking for somewhere or someone to ride with, you are most welcome to join us on our weekly ride schedule.

You must provide your helmet, pedals and shoes, and anything else you may require. We carry emergency Shimano and Speedplay pedals but do not guarantee availability.  

Your bike will be set up to suit you based on your pre-supplied measurements. Your pedals will be fitted by MC staff.

You will be responsible for damage to the bike due to over-tightening of any components or contact points.

You are responsible for any damage to the bike during any transit within Australia (which doesn't include New Zealand). If you intend to travel with the hire bike, you are responsible for packing it correctly to domestic airline requirements and in a suitable box or carrier. Bike bags may be available for hire at an additional cost.

Pickup and dropoff must be done in person during MC store trading hours.

Reservations can't be made online within 24 hours of hire. Contact us directly for reservation needs within 24 hours.

Photo ID must be presented at pickup

Hire bikes cannot be used for racing or other competitive events - any such use will void your insurance.

Hire bikes are not to be used for gravelling or excessive off-road excursions.

Non-competitive entries to Fondo & Sportive events are permitted.

Bikes that are returned late will be subject to a penalty fee of $150 per day (or part thereof) until returned.

Cancellation Policy - see FAQ’s below.

Bike pickup and dropoff must be done in person during MC store trading hours. MC is closed on Sundays and Public Holidays - pickup/dropoff is not possible on these days.

Your bike will be covered by limited insurance for damage and theft, excluding negligence. You will be liable for any insurance claim excess and damage up to $1,000, and all 3rd-party claims. You can pay a small premium to reduce the excess from $1,000 to $600.

MC strongly advises you to arrange your own 3rd Party Liability Cover with a reputable provider (eg Velosure ) to cover claims that may arise in the event of an incident or injury involving a 3rd Party (this includes all road users and pedestrians and it is not uncommon for claims of this nature to be made in Australia.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I book? Bookings can only be made online. You will be required to sign the waiver and terms and conditions at pickup.

What if the dates and bike I have selected are not available? Don't despair. We may be able to find you an alternative ride - please contact us immediately via email [email protected] What if my plans change or I need to cancel? Cancellations can be made up to 48 hours before scheduled hire.

How do I specify my measurements? In addition to you selecting the correct bike size, we will require two measurements.

Measure the distance in centimetres between the centre of your crankset and the top of your saddle on your current bike, in the middle of the saddle rails.

Measure the distance in centimetres between the tip of your saddle and the centre of your handlebar .

When can I collect my bike? You collect your bike from the MC store during opening hours on the first day of hire.

Please pay attention to when the store is open. Bike pickups cannot occur on Sundays or Public Holidays. How long does it take to collect a bike? You should allow 30 minutes for hiring and returning your bike. This is required for paperwork, bike setup and bike check. Can I race on the bike? No. All insurance and protections would not apply. You would be liable for the full price of the bicycle in the case of any damage. Can I hire a bike for friends and family? No. Hiring a bike for another person would violate the Terms and Conditions of hire.

With everyone's support, we did it. We opened our doors in late 2023 and welcomed our stakeholders and clients into our New Hub. While there is still much work to do, our Community Bike Shop space is open for those needing to rent a bench and/or tools to work on their bikes. Our retail floor is loaded with more refurbished bicycles than we have ever been able to display in our old West Temple shop, and our professional mechanics are available to help guide those who need some help.
