Give yourself at least six hours for your first time, second time you can use four hours third time three hours. I went shopping at all the stores my first time in August 2022,came back in September 2022, third time in October and November. I went Christmas shopping starting in August and my favorite store is The Christmas Store.. I went to a Tshirt shop and bought a Tshirt in their clearance rack for $15.00. no tax for some reason. Love Fredericksburg Texas. Can't wait to stop in again and see more stuff. The Museum is closed on Monday and Tuesday. Soo much to see and do. I go during the week because of less crowds but many stores are not open on Monday and Tuesday. Still had time to see so many places. Read more Written December 14, 2022

The second time I went was just a day trip. I went shopping up and down main street the Christmas store was my favorite. The people who work there are really friendly and helpful. I bought an ornament for my new grandson who was born in 2022. The Food at Otto's was just like my grandmas cooking. Grandma was born and raised in Germany. The town is incredible I love it so much that I hope someday to go back again. I just loved Germanfest, Christmas time in the park.so much to see and do there. • 1693 Distillery

Our 1693 Distillery captures the unique richness, depth and complexity of local flavors and smooth taste. Henry established one of the first distilleries in Gillespie County and saloons in Fredericksburg. Originally called Buckhorn Whiskey, the family’s personal recipe, made from local harvest of course, was served at the popular local watering hole. • Fat Ass Ranch & Winery

When you first arrive at Fat Ass Ranch & Winery, you’ll know immediately you are in Texas. The outside has a large seating area complete with the back of a bus with cushions, a contraption which looks like the moonshine still mentioned but has the end result of wine, tractor, men’s and women’s restrooms built from silos, and more. The outside décor continues inside the winery and you can tell the person responsible for it had a lot of fun with the theme and was very imaginative.

As you might expect, based on its cheeky name, Fat Ass Ranch & Winery is a laid-back establishment that emphasizes fun over formality. Their inventory is dominated by a wide array of sweet wines featuring strawberry, raspberry, peach, and watermelon flavor profiles. Great wine and friendly staff! We went here for a girls day and it was a perfect winery for fun animals and a relaxed tour.

Nestled amid rolling vineyards, this winery is a picturesque escape for wine enthusiasts. We came without a reservation and were greeted by the friendliest staff available. The staff was knowledgeable and guided us through a diverse selection of wines. We got a taste of 5 different wines and each sip revealing an interesting story of ingredients and craftsmanship. The vineyard views add a scenic backdrop to the tasting, creating a serene atmosphere. It was a beautiful afternoon and we were able to enjoy some live music. The wine prices align with the quality, and the overall experience makes it a worthwhile retreat for those seeking a blend of exceptional wines and tranquil surroundings. I highly recommend giving this location a visit if you ever happen to be visiting nearby.

Another themed winery in the heard of Fredericksburg. Safari themed with the decor. Simple outdoors area with live music. We came on a colder day so they had the space heaters out in full force. They do have their own branded bottles of wine, and we received information about their wines. I don't think they are on par with other vineyards in the area for the full ambience, but it was good enough.

We had a great time on the safari tour with our kids. They loved feeding the goats, pigs and kangaroos. The tram took us to see buffalo, zebras, alpacas and other exotic animals. The tasting room is large and has a relaxing ambiance and beautiful hill country views. Thanks for a great afternoon.

We LOVED this place and wished we had found it earlier than 45 min til closing!!!! The tasting room is dog friendly on top of that! LINDA was so so wonderful and pleasant. We wanted to come back the next day to show her our dog but we had to leave early This will be top of our list for our next Fredericksburg weekend! Indoor, outdoor, wines, and staff - all excellent.

Barbara was great! She was so sweet and friendly! We were amazed at how knowledgeable she was about all the many different wines there were to try. She was also extremely passionate about the history and spoke highly of the owners, their daughters and all of the staff. She helped me realize that I'm a "dry girl." The malbec and cebernet were my favorite! I was also pleasantly surprised with the Tres Cielos. The hints of jalapeño were so different! (In a good way!)

Photo of Aryelle S.

I kind of had higher expectations for this place. The wine was just okay and the pizza was on the soggy side. The outdoor seating was just regular picnic tables or medal tables. It didn't give the "Safari" vibe we were expecting

wine safari texas

While the ambiance is completely different and fun, the staff is my issue. We did a tasting and the young lady helping or providing the tasting was so quiet it was hard to understand. I did enjoy the wine and trying different options! But she definitely needed a bigger voice so we could hear her. Overall it was a fun time!

wine safari texas

The wines are really good but I hate how they treat the wine club members. All the indoor spaces are always booked for bachelorette parties, and they want to send everyone else including wine club members outside in the 100+° Texas heat. Finally, they decided to clear out the basement office and have that reserved for members only which was a great idea and long past due. It's nice to sit inside in a quieter area and not be blazing hot.

This was our first stop on our way into Fredicksburg and it was a great start to the trip. Barbara was very friendly and welcoming. She had helpful recommendations based on what types of wine we usually drink and gave us space when we wanted to chat amongst ourselves. We will be back!

The Swahili word “safari” means “journey”, and this is where the name “Safari Winery” derived from.

We are a family owned winery who settled in Fredericksburg, Texas during the mid 1800s. We have been here for 6 generations. We love this town, and it is still the only place we have ever considered “home”.

Although Fredericksburg is where we grew up, we have always enjoyed traveling to different places. It is something that has brought our family closer together and continues to do so throughout the years. We decided to build this winery in hopes to bring something new and special to you and your loved ones, and what better way to do that than to bring wines from different parts of the world right to you! We hope our wines can help bring people closer together and be a constant reminder of what life is all about!
