Awesome experience

Olivia and Amelia were excellent instructors. knew their stuff, safety conscious and FUN. I highly recommend zip line with these guys. As novices we weren't sure of the activity but after the first ride we regretted only doing 4 instead of the six lines.

Absolute must-do!

We had Obe and Juan who were so great! Very knowledgeable and friendly. I was pretty anxious about the jump at the end so they were encouraging, understanding and even held my hand. We learnt some cool facts about birds and trees along the way and I found these guys very personable. 10/10 thanks so much!

Ziplining in Queenstown

Our guides, Olivia and Robbie, were fantastic! Making two newbies to ziplining feel safe and giving us a great experience!! Stunning views of Lake Wakatipu!

Best experience ever!!

OMG by far the best experience me and my girls have done!! We did the 6 Line Kea tour. Obe and Bobby were amazing tour guides. Recommend having these two lads as their guides. They were funny, very passionate and knowledgeable about ecology/sustainability and always ensured we were having a good time whilst feeling safe at the same time.

Let's do it again!!

Our tour guides Max and Bobby were amazing!! Their passion for sustainability and great knowledge of Queenstown history is refreshing. I've never ziplined before due to a mild fear of heights but these guys made it easy for me. Thank you team. Would definitely recommend to everyone.

Tick all the boxes: fun, eco-friendly, exciting!!

I took my 11 year old daughter as a birthday present. It was fun, different, safe and exciting! The information given by our amazing guides were very interesting. It was a perfect mix of adventure, education ... Big thumbs up to Ziptrek for being an Eco friendly activity and doing lots of planting! Also a special note to acknowledge all the special extra safety measures they put in place due to the pandemic. Highly recommend!!!

Give it a go - it's so much fun!

What a fantastic experience! I am not really an adventerous type of person but I thought this would be OK. I am so pleased that I tried it as I thoroughly enjoyed it and felt completely safe the whole way around. Our guides, Max and Harrison, were brilliant - full of knowledge and so good to talk with. We did the four lines, but could have easily done the full six - I wanted to do it all again when we finished!

Must do in Queenstown - good for the whole family

We did the zipline as a family, myself and my four children ages 25, 14, 12 and 11. It was way more than just thrilling incredible ziplining in the trees. It was the ecotourism bonus as well learning about the ecosystem ancient history right through to the conservation efforts happening for the region today. Stunning scenery and the most excellent quides who made us feel safe and excited. I would highly recommend this for any age group (within the guidelines of course).

Crazy Awesome Fun!

This is an outstanding activity!! Best part of our queenstown holiday! We were in great hands with Joe and Obi, a great organised team! Loved the eco talk throughout as well! Very educational! 100% recommend this business! Amazing views too!!

Fun, eco tourism at its best!

The Zipping was great fun and the associated Eco information was very enlightening. Our guides Beau and Obe were very professional and relaxed which made for a very enjoyable experience. Highly Recommended!

Great experience, great staff

My wife and I recently visited New Zealand with my 83 year old mother. While in Queenstown we booked the Kereru tour, including my mother who had never been zip lining before. The staff was excellent and did a great job working with our entire group. The tour was one of the highlights of our trip.

Literally thrilled!

Awesome experience. Enjoyed the 6 zip line tour with big drops with my teenage daughter. Some great optional challenges for the thriller in us. Freya and Dev our guides were on point with their care, professionalism, great rapport and knowledge of the ecology and sustainability of the area.

ZIPTREK ECOTOURS ENGAGES THE YOUNG AND YOUNG AT HEART THROUGH A UNIQUE AND EXHILARATING ZIPLINE EXPERIENCE IN tremblant.

Ziptrek is a must-do, multi award-winning adventure ecotourism business renowned for delivering awareness and appreciation of the natural environment along with a healthy dose of ziplining adventure.

The company was founded in 2001 in Whistler, Canada by Charles Steele and David Udow, with a goal to provide a unique experience combining nature-based learning with a rush of adrenaline. The original operation began in Whistler, BC, Canada with the first tours running in the summer of 2002, becoming the first zipline tour in North America. In 2009, Ziptrek opened its 2nd permanent location in Queenstown, New Zealand.

Opening in June 2014, Ziptrek Tremblant became the 3rd permanent location in the family. Since then, Ziptrek Tremblant has already established itself as the premier outdoor activity in resort, and has already been awarded the "Contribution to Economic Development Award" from the Mont-Tremblant Chamber of Commerce at the annual "Concours Excellence" event. Ziptrek recently received their 2nd Chamber Award in successive years, capturing the " Most Eco Responsible Company " award.

On Ziptrek tours you enjoy an unforgettable opportunity to explore, learn and delight in the thrill of an aerial adventure in natural environments that lend themselves perfectly to an enlightening ecological curriculum.

With Media coverage from around the globe from all our locations – stemming from exposure in 100’s of TV shows, and countless magazine and newspaper features, the operation has been showcased to millions, and Ziptrek's brand identity and reputation has subsequently grown as a result.

ziptrek eco tours

How we built it

Ziptrek Ecotours was created to facilitate learning about sustainability and is designed to illustrate related principles whenever possible. Where some companies clear a swath of forest between the ends of their ziplines, Ziptrek meticulously plans the routes of all their ziplines to minimize the impacts to trees and the surrounding area.

Unlike our other 2 locations, where the ziplines are often anchored into actual trees (done in way that doesn't harm the growth of the trees), Ziptrek Tremblant's lines are of such great length and magnitude that steel structures were erected in order to safely support them. Naturally rot resistant woods were then used to build associated decks, railings, and platforms, which allows us to eliminate the routine use of chemicals. Ziptrek also uses solar panels to harness energy to run some of its systems on course.

In addition to being environmentally conscious in our chosen materials on course, our purchase decisions are also centered around being environmentally aware by ensuring responsible options are chosen where possible, with all marketing material and collateral being printed on recycled paper using vegetable based inks.

ziptrek eco tours

While on Tour

Ziptrek delivers an eco-adventure that combines a personal guided zipline journey offering sustainable education in a receptive and engaging environment creating lasting memories.

This represents our approach to our operation, it shows that we are educating our guests in environmental matters as well as giving them a great experience. These elements go hand in hand and support each other; the engaging environment of the ziplines within the forest support the idea of sustainability and create an environment where guests want to support sustainable thinking to ensure these natural settings are protected and sustained.

Ziptrek Ecotours model was based on a fundamental education theory. We teach a systems thinking model of sustainability based on peer reviewed science called ‘The Natural Step’ . While our guests are challenging themselves and enjoying the spectacular views of the surrounding area while zipping through the trees, we think there is opportunity to learn and be inspired by the natural systems exemplified around them.

Through a considered delivery, we have interpretation boards and guides that support a story of place that brings meaning to the world around them. We show what happens in nature (natural system), what Ziptrek does within this context, and what we can all do towards impacting the conditions at large.

In fact we encourage you to see what is said about us, our interpretative story and our levels of service through popular social sites such as Tripadvisor.

Zipline Information & FAQ's

What is the difference between ziptrek ecotours and superfly ziplines.

Ziptrek is the original zipline tour company in Whistler. Ziptrek tours take place over the Fitzsimmons Valley between Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains. This tour starts and ends right in the heart of Whistler Village. Guides provide information on the local ecosystem and Ziptrek uses “free range harnesses” so you can lean back and go upside down safely and in comfort.

Superfly Ziplines are located about a 10-minute drive north of Whistler Village in the Cougar Mountain area. Superfly Ziplines use a sit in harness and they have a unique system that allows two guests to ride side-by-side, each on their own cable.

What should I wear?

During the summer months (May to October), wear comfortable, supportive athletic or hiking shoes. Open-toed shoes, sandals and dress shoes are not permitted. Wear comfortable clothing appropriate for the weather.

During the winter, we recommend wearing layers of outdoor clothing. Generally we suggest wearing the same thing you would wear skiing or snowboarding.

Can I bring a backpack?

You will not be able to bring a backpack or any other baggage on tour with you. You will be wearing a full-body harness and backpacks will interfere with this harness. In addition, we do not want anyone to lose or drop anything while ziplining! Please leave all personal belongings at your hotel, small item storage is available for Ziptrek Ecotours guests. Free lockers are available for Superfly guests.

Can I bring a camera?

Yes! If you have a camera or small video recording device you can bring it with you. We recommend having a wrist or neck strap so that you can attach it to yourself when ziplining. Go Pro / Contour-style helmet cameras are permitted and do fit securely on the helmets, provided you bring the accessory straps required.

Do tours run in the winter and in the rain?

Ziptrek Ecotours run in all weather conditions. The Sasquatch and Bear Tours are only available in the summer, whilst the Apres Tour is available in the winter only.

Superfly Ziplines winter season starts mid-December and runs daily until mid-April. Superfly Ziplines and Treetops Adventures are open daily in summer from May until mid-October.

Tours run rain, snow, or shine! Please check the weather and dress appropriately for your tour. Generally, the weather in the Village reflects the weather on course. Refunds will not be given in the event of rain.

Health, safety and physical requirements:

Ziptreks minimum weight requirement for the Bear Tour is 55 lbs / 25 kg to a maximum of 275 lbs / 125 kg. Minimum weight requirement for the Eagle Tour and Sasquatch® Tour is 75 lbs / 32 kg.

Superfly Ziplines: Minimum of 7 years old and 60 lbs; maximum weight of 250 lbs. People with severe neck, back or other injuries are not recommended to participate.

Guests should be prepared for light physical exertion - the tour includes several flights of stairs and some hiking.

Smoking, drugs or alcohol are not permitted on any tour at any time.

Ziplining is not permitted for women who are pregnant.

Ziptrek Ecotours FAQs

What is the difference between the bear, eagle and mammoth tours.

Ziptrek has three distinct ziplining tours to choose from: Bear, Eagle and Mammoth. The main difference between the first two tours is the length of ziplines as well as the scenery; both tours last 2.5 to 3 hours in duration and include 5 ziplines. The Mammoth Tour includes both the Bear and Eagle lines in a huge 10-line tour. This tour lasts 4.5 hours and a mid-tour meal will be provided on course.

Ziptrek Bear's 5 ziplines range between 2,000 and 1,100 feet in length, and with the exception of the first line, this tour takes place in the old growth rainforest and you have the option of flipping upside down on the last line!

Ziptrek Eagle's 5 ziplines range between 400 and over 2,000 feet in length! This tour starts in the old growth rainforest but ends in Whistler Village, making some of these lines steeper.

Where do I meet for the tour?

The Ziptrek check-in desk is located inside the Carleton Lodge . You will find the Carleton Lodge at the base of Whistler Mountain across from the Whistler Gondola building. All guests are asked to arrive at the desk 15 minutes prior to the start of their tour to check in.

The Ziptrek check-in for the Sasquatch Tour is located at the kiosk next to the Blackcomb Gondola in the Upper Village. All guests are asked to arrive at the desk 15 minutes prior to the start of their tour to check in.

Once you have checked in for your tour, tour guides will get you ready for your tour. They will take care of all transportation from this point. To start your tour, you will be shuttled approximately 10 minutes up Blackcomb Mountain by van.

The Ziptrek check in location is at the Ziptrek Outfitting Base, located at the base of the Excalibur Gondola, opposite the Dubh Linn Gate Pub (Whistler Village).

How long is the tour?

Ziptrek's Winter Après Tour is 2 - 2.5 hours roundtrip. Ziptrek's Bear Tour is 2 - 2.5 hours roundtrip. Ziptrek's Eagle Tour is 2.5 - 3 hours roundtrip. Ziptrek's Sasquatch® tour is 1.5 hours roundtrip.

Superfly Ziplines FAQs

You are required to meet 15 minutes prior to your scheduled tour time. The Superfly Ziplines check-in desk is located inside The Adventure Group storefront at 211 - 4293 Mountain Square, near the Whistler Village Gondola and right beside Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory. Guests are also able to check in at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler.

Check in at our Cougar Mountain Base . If you are self-driving, follow Google Maps or Waze to Cougar Mountain Road, Whistler BC, just a 10 minute drive from Whistler Village. After turning off the highway, a short uphill drive through the forest will take you to the basecamp, where there is paid parking onsite.

If you have booked the shuttle, it will depart from Whistler Village at the Gateway Bus Loop, next to the taxi loop and Visitor Centre. Please arrive 15 minutes before your shuttle departure time.

Superfly Ziplines tour time is 1.5 - 2.5 hours. Tours start every 30 minutes. Superfly Ziplines is part of The Adventure Group Park Day Pass, giving you unlimited access to Ziplining, Aerial Obstacle Course, RZR Tours, and Vallea Lumina. Between adventures, hang out at our Cougar Mountain Basecamp; play games, enjoy food & beverage offerings and relax in nature.

What time is my tour?

With The Adventure Group Park Day Pass, you have unlimited access to all the activities available at Cougar Mountain Base and are not required to schedule a tour time in advance. On arrival, you will be able to put your name down for the next available tour of your choosing. Tours start every 30 minutes.

Is there food available at Cougar Mountain Base?

There are light food options at the Base. There are also games to enjoy while in between activites, such as giant Jenga, Connect 4 and cornhole.

My child wants to go Ziplining. Do I need to accompany them?

Children aged 15 and under require a chaperone aged 19+ to supervise the child from the ground for the duration of the tour. A chaperone ticket can be added at check-out. For children over the age of 15, a chaperone is not required. 1 adult can chaperone 10 children.

By density of population (36,2 men/sq. km) - the 29 th place in Russia and the 3rd among the Volga regions, yielding only to the Samara region and the Tatarstan Republic. Specific weight of city population (urbanization level) - is 72.8%.

The Volga River divides the territory of the region into high right-bank and low left-bank (Zavolzhie).

On the right part is situated Privolzhskaya Hill (up to 363 m height) with going to Volga Undorovskie, Kremenskie and Sengileevskie Hills. Surface of the right part is flat plain.

The main river is the Volga and its confluents: the Sura, the Sviyaga, the Bolshoy Cheremshan and others.

Climate of the region is temperate-continental. An average temperature in January is -13 °C, in July +19 °C.

The Ulyanovsk region is situated in the areas of forest-steppe and deciduous forests. Soils are mainly black earth.

Forests occupy ¼ of the territory. In the north-west - are large woodlands of oak forests with linden and maple, in Zavolzhie - are meadow steppes, separate coniferous forests. In these forests one can find elk, marten, squirrel, lepus and other. There are numerous water birds and waders. In the Kuibyshevskoe water reservoir live bream, zander, sazan and others.

In the 8 th -9 th centuries the Ulyanovsk Volga region became a part of early the Volga Bulgar State as a union of nomad Turkic and settled Ugro-Finnic tribes.

At the end of the 14 th - the beginning of the 15 th century, after devastating raid of Tamerlan, the ruler of the Central Asia, began desolation of the territory of the Ulyanovsk Volga region. Since the end of the 30-s of the 15 th century the region became a part of the Kazan Khanate.

After 22 years of Simbirsk foundation he had to endure a strong fight for the state protection, but not against external enemies, but against brigand's Cossack volnitsa (group of serf peasants, which escaped from their masters), directed by ataman Stepan Rasin.

In the 18 th century as a result of enlargement of the territory of the Russian State, especially in south direction, people began intensively develop and settle south areas of the present territory of the Ulyanovsk region, and Simbirsk itself began gradually lose its war-strategic meaning.

Soviet power in Simbirsk province was established a month later after the October revolution - on the 10 th of December 1917. In 1918 the region found itself in the epicenter of the Civil War. After liberation of Simbirsk from White Guards in September 1918, the city became an important rear base of the Soviet power. For some time here was situated a headquarters and the Revolutionary War Council of the eastern front. Simbirsk cartridge plant was playing an important role in provision Red Army with ammunition.

In 1924 Simbirsk was renamed to Ulyanovsk.

From the beginning of the Great Patriotic war Ulyanovsk became a place where had been evacuated different enterprises, organizations and institutions from the western areas of the country, Moscow and Leningrad.

In the 50-s - 60-s in the region were opened new industrial enterprises (the plant of heavy and unique machines, the mechanical plant, Dimitrovgrad scientific research institute of nuclear reactors and others), automobile bridge across the Volga river and the airport in Ulyanovsk.

  • EBSIS Ul'Yanovsk Class Nuclear Aircraft Carrier

EBSIS Ul'Yanovsk Class Nuclear Aircraft Carrier:

Few people believe that the EBSIS naval forces are as powerful as they are but the reality is that they are quite dangerous. The Ul'Yanovsk Class Nuclear Aircraft Carrier is a new carrier design that was laid down just before the Global War and while not quite the equal of American designs, still carries a good number of aircraft and is the most powerful pre global war carrier design not constructed by the Americans. The Ul'Yanovsk was to have been commissioned around 1994 but was delayed during the Global War and was fully commissioned in January of 2004. This delay was due to adding new systems and incorporating high strength ceramics into the design to enable it to withstand far more damage. While the ship is nuclear powered, the EBSIS has two conventionally powered carriers that are smaller but similar in many respects. These are the Tbilisi and Riga and plans are to upgrade them to the same standards as the Ul'Yanovsk as far as armor and standard. This is question due to budget constraints. A second ship of the Ul'Yanovsk class was planned but scrapped after the purchasing of the Iapetus.

Unlike the Kirov class cruiser, the carrier design is fully nuclear powered which allows for much greater endurance at high speed. In addition, the ship has more space for carrying aviation fuel than is carried on the ships half brothers. Brothers, because the Russians consider their ship designs as male unlike Americans and most other nations. The ship has four PWR nuclear reactors (fission not fusion rectors) that produce 240,000 horsepower and can propel the ship at speeds of up to 32 knots. The ship is incredibly well armed and has multiple anti-missile defense system. The ship is in reality better defended with its own defenses better than American designs. The missile launchers have been converted to fire missiles that are copies of designs stolen for the RDF. It was original planned that the carrier would have catapults but due to engineering problems, the ship was equipped with a ski jump to launch aircraft.

Similar to most newer Soviet ship designs, the ship has very luxurious quarters for the officers especially the Captain and any flag officers that are embarked. The ship is designed to be able to act as a flagship and has been often been used as one. The ship carries 30 Su-27 Fighters, 10 Su-25 Attack Aircraft, and around 15 helicopters. Helicopters can be used for extending radar range and for searching for submarines.

Model Type: Project 1143.7 Class: Nuclear Aircraft Carrier (Tyazholiy Avionosnyy Kreyser (TAKR); heavy aviation cruiser) Crew: ship’s complement 2,300, Air Crew 1450, and Flagship Staff 40 (when acting as a flagship)

Notes: [1] In all four elevators are destroyed, no aircraft can be moved from the hangers to the flight deck, meaning that they cannot be launched unless already on the flight deck. [2] If the flight deck is destroyed, only Helicopters and other VTOL aircraft can be launched or land. VTOL aircraft are at -15% to piloting. [3] Destroying both Strut Pair and Top Plate Air Search System radar system will eliminate the ships long range air search ability but weapon systems have backup fire control systems. Both air search systems are separate so both systems are not likely to be disable from a single hit. [4] Depleting the M.D.C. of the main body destroys the ship’s structural integrity, causing it to sink. There are enough flotation devices and inflatable life rafts to accommodate everyone aboard.

Speed: On Water: 32 knots (36.8 mph / 59.3 kph) Maximum Effective Range: Effectively Unlimited (must refuel about every ten years)

Statistical Data: Draft: 35.4 feet (10.8 meters) Width, Waterline: 130.6 feet (39.8 meters) Width, Flight Deck: 248.5 feet (75.5 meters) Length: 1065.0 feet (324.6 meters) Displacement: 60,000 tons standard and 79,758 tons fully loaded Cargo: Can carry 4,000 tons of extraneous cargo. Each enlisted crew member has a small locker for personal items and uniforms. ship’s officers have far more space for personal items. Most of the ship’s spaces are taken up by extra ammo, armor, troops, weapons, and engines. Power System: 4 Nuclear Reactors Market Price: Not available.
