What African Resort Was Blended Filmed At?

By Robert Palmer

If you’re a fan of the hit Netflix series Blended, you may be wondering where exactly the stunning African resort featured in the film is located. Look no further – we’ve got all the details for you.

The resort featured in Blended is called the Sun City Resort, and it’s located in South Africa. This luxurious destination boasts a variety of accommodations, from standard hotel rooms to suites and even villas. But what really sets Sun City apart is its incredible range of activities and attractions.

For starters, there are four different hotels within Sun City: The Palace of the Lost City, Cascades Hotel, Soho Hotel, and Cabanas Hotel. Each one offers its own unique vibe and amenities, so you can choose the perfect fit for your vacation style.

In terms of activities, Sun City truly has something for everyone. Golf enthusiasts will love the two championship golf courses on site, while those seeking relaxation can indulge in spa treatments or lounge by one of the many pools. Thrill-seekers can try their hand at zip lining or bungee jumping, while animal lovers can go on a safari or visit the nearby Pilanesberg Game Reserve.

One of the highlights of Sun City is its massive water park, Valley of Waves. This attraction features a wave pool, multiple water slides (including one that clocks in at 70 km/h!), a lazy river ride, and even a sandy beach area.

But back to Blended – if you’re hoping to recreate some of the movie’s iconic scenes during your stay at Sun City, you’ll want to check out The Palace Pool Deck. This stunning area features multiple pools surrounded by lush greenery and statues inspired by African mythology.

Dear G_Soudy Your 5 star review of your stay at The Palace is appreciated. Kind regards

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Palace. Amazing decor, and very luxurious rooms. Although the rooms show some ageing, all in all it wasn't bad considering the age of the hotel, as well as the fact that we were assured that they are planning a revamp. Almost all of the staff were super friendly and courteous, with only the noticeable exception of the reception lady who were quite rude ("here's your key, now go..."). We actually had to remind her that we do not know where our room is, before she told us to go wait next to the big round table in the middle of reception, and that someone would show up eventually to take us to our room. Not five star service! Another incident worth mentioning, we went to Sun Central to get some medication for my wife's allergy, and upon arriving back were stopped by the guy with the funny hat at the doors, telling us that "food" were not allowed in the Palace. We had to unpack our medication in front of other guests to "convince" him that we are not smuggling food into the hotel. How embarrassing! Never expected to be "searched" at the Palace, being a guest and all! I most however add that the above two incidents did not distract from our stay, and all in all we would be definitely back at the Palace next year, looking forward to the renovations. Just a special mention to Phestina and Eveline at the Crystal Court, their warmth and friendliness really made one feel welcome! I hope I spelled their names right! As well as Paul the Pianoman, who always had a friendly smile ready, and played the most beautiful songs even on request.

Dear Ben S We appreciate you taking the time and writing a review of your stay. Great to see that overall you enjoyed your stay with us. We will most certainly address the staff member concerned who was rude. and will also look into our policy for not allowing food ( medicine in your case) into The Palace from outside to avoid the embarrassment you experienced. Please accept our apologies for this Thank you for taking the time and acknowledging the good service given to you by Phestina and Eveline and Paul in the Crystal Court. Warm regards

As a child I always remember our family visits to Sun City. We always stayed at the Cabanas since they were affordable and very kid friendly. Now as a married adult I couldn't have been more excited to stay at The Palace. The building is and always has been spectacular. Welcomed by the animal fountains and statues and then greeted by the splendor that is the entryway of the Palace. A porter came up to us once we arrived and smiled at us as he introduced himself and welcomed us, wish I could remember his name because he was delightful. He took us to reception and I could already feel bad energy coming from the women at the front desk. A few minutes later one finally became free and our porter walked us up. We smiled and said good morning..... the lady said hi and kept looking at her screen. No "welcome, so nice to have you" or a "good morning to you as well". She was miserable and looked like she hated being there and helping us. We asked for any room upgrade availability since my husband wanted a balcony and our current room didn't. They told us they were fully booked so we didn't get any chance to pay for a nicer room. None the less or room was gorgeous and well decorated. Once we settled I did start noticing the wears and tears of the room. I found a doorknob on the floor, carpets faded in several areas and stained curtains. Nothing major but for the price you pay you expect better. We noticed our a/c wasn't working so I called reception and they said they would send someone to fix it. Well actually I called and asked how to turn the fan on because I couldn't find the switch and her answer was "What do you want from us?" Ummm excuse me for bothering you. I then went on to mention the a/c. We left for dinner right after I called and were out for 4hrs. Once we came back we realized that no one ever came and our room was as hot as we left it with the broken a/c and the fan still off. At this my husband decided to call the hotel manager and he spoke to Mikyel, spelling?, he was really sweet and helpful and apologized profusely for the staff that left us hanging. He sent us a porter so they could upgrade our room for free to a junior suite..... thought one wasn't available when we tried to pay for one but anyway. The porter was kind of rude and didn't bothering smiling or making eye contact, even after we tipped him R100 for taking our bags up 2 floors. At least pretend ur thankful! Once in our new room Mikyel came to check in us and brought us champagne and to apologize again. He was fantastic. Wish the other staff was like him, 5/5 for his attitude! We didn't get time to spend at at pool but did go to the adult pool at the Roman baths. Wow has that place become a dump. People are smoking everywhere and the lounge chair cushions are so stained and disgusting. He waiters barely ever made it around to the furthest side of the pool and the cocktails were terrible! Bathroom doors didn't have any locks, not one! Even in the men's room per my husband. It's really a pity since they built 2 new water slides and redid the entire entertainment center but Sun City as a whole really needs to up their customer service and cleanliness. It really breaks my heart because I have such fond memories of this place. They need to fire a lot of useless help and have the strong and polite staff members train new people who would appreciate their job and actually enjoy working with people. I have worked in the service industry for a long time and it's not always pleasant but I would always treat people with the same amount of respect as I would want them to treat me.

Dear AliciaR8 We appreciate your review of your stay. The poor staff attitude received as described in your review , is most certainly not the kind of behavior we pride ourselves upon, and has been brought to the attention of our management team, who will be taking the necessary action to prevent this kind of behavior happening again. Thank you for praising Duty Manager Mikyle, who was able to make such a positive impact and amends during your stay. I sincerely hope you will visit us again soon, so that you can judge for yourself the changes as a result of your feedback. Yours sincerely

This remains one of the best hotels we have stayed in. However the Palace needs serious improvement on service , we realized on our most recent visit. Most staff members are friendly and smile, but there are a few that needs to improve on their attitude. A very good example of this was the pathetic service we got from concierge. Every time we phoned it felt as if they did us a huge favour by helping or making a reservation for us. On our first day we made a reservation with the restaurant at the Cascades. The gentleman that helped us was extremely unfriendly and unhelpful. Eventually he made the booking. At about 13hoo he phoned us to tell us booking has been cancelled because of some industrial action. At around 17hoo when we left the hotel, we spoke to the personnel organising transport and told them that our dinner arrangements were cancelled, so we will go look for a restaurant. They were in awe and confirmed that the particular restaurant was open. Why was the concierge not better informed? Why couldn’t he phone us back again, making a new booking? On another day we phoned and spoke to Fikili to make a booking at the Chinese restaurant in the main hotel. This was shocking. She never phoned back to confirm the booking , even after I asked her to and when we arrived at the restaurant, she never made the booking. This was super embarrassing. Here we threw a tantrum at the restaurant, because we had a booking. Yet Fikili just never made the booking. The luggage storage on our arrival day worked perfectly and the staff was very attentive and professional. The rooms are extremely neat and clean with all the luxury amenities one would require from a 5 star hotel. We couldn’t help noticing how clean the entire hotel was on the inside. The swimming area however was a huge let down this time round. This always used to be the best part and most relaxing part of our holiday at the Palace. The pool area of the Palace is about wildlife. Birds, the sound of the waterfalls. Yet on the flipside. Everyday a lady set up her music and played loud music. Music taste differs. It took away the tranquil feeling. This is a luxury 5 star hotel. We didn’t find the music at the palace appropriate at all. At some stages it was so loud we couldn’t hear each other. If you want loud music go down to the adult pool or Valley of the waves. Another pool problem was the absence of staff members on the weekdays. Cocktails took forever. On 2 occasions more than 25 minutes. The pool was dirty and even 3 days after we complained it was still dirty. Massage ladies are very professional and give excellent massages. They just became very annoying asking every so often if we needed a massage. We will ask them if we need a massage. Massages were extremely expensive. Considering having one or two every day. Towel trollies were pushed right in front of our view towards the pool. Every day we asked for these trollies , full of wet towels to be pushed into the gazebo area, but 1 hour later the trollies were a sore sight again all over the place. We have been going to the Palace for many years and in all these years they had trouble with the grass growing around the pool area. This is the worst I have seen it in many years. Do something about it? It was a muddy mess. Getting a foot massage and getting up right after it just spoiled everything as your feet was just dirty all over again. Get fake grass. Pave the area, but do something constructive and the reality is, grass doesn’t want to grow in all the areas. On weekdays it looked extremely untidy in one area of the pool as they wanted to get the grass growing, so they just piled up all the swimming pool chairs. A sorry sight to look at. The rock pool a bit further away , was always a sparkling little pool. How shocked were we when we saw it this time round. It turned into a mud bath and in the 5 sunny days we were there it remained just like that. What happened to self-help lemon water next to the pool like other Sun International 5 star hotels? Fruit sticks later in the day. Another shocking example of poor service. It was my husband’s birthday on Valentine’s Day. 2 days prior I spoke to some manageress at the breakfast restaurant to book a specific table and organise 2 huge specially baked red velvet cupcakes at an additional cost I will pay for. I confirmed the day before, got comformation again, yet on the morning of my husband’s birthday, no booked table, no cupcakes as ordered. In fact what was so disappointing no one knew about any arrangements. Luckily a very awesome gentleman by the name of , Mpho Kgosana, stepped in and saved the day. Must just mention another great person at breakfast reception by the name of Nellie. She is a very good example of how to treat guests. We not great fans of buffet dinners, but this buffet in the main restaurant of the Palace were one of the best buffet dinners we had in a very long time. The service was heavenly and the ambience in this very large restaurant was something out of the ordinary. The food was excellent and tasty. Palace stays a great hotel, please improve on service. It definite took a huge knock, since the last time we visited. This remains one of the best hotels we have stayed in. Experience luxury at South Africa's Best Hotel

This luxury five-star hotel in Sun City has integrated the natural beauty of its surroundings into its design, taking architectural and interior themes from the legend of a lost African tribe to capture the essence of The Palace. Think richly-woven colours, faux elephant tusks, sculptured bronze and crystal, and jungle cascades. The magnificence of the wild landscape is depicted through lions, kudus, birds and beasts of all kinds; these are immortalised in statues, stone carvings, mosaic illustrations, vaulted ceilings, dazzling flame-topped towers and in artist Danie de Jager's bronze wildlife sculptures. With fresco ceilings above and ancient tiles below, you are left to stand in awe at the sheer scale and grandeur of the masterpiece that is The Palace of the Lost City.

Accommodation fit for royalty, The Palace of the Lost City is synonymous with five-star luxury. Every detail has been carefully considered to ensconce guests in opulent comfort, from the cool mosaic tiles of the lobby and the subtle fusion of botanic aromas to the hotel's regally appointed high teas. Each exquisite suite with its handcrafted furniture repeats the magic of this remarkable place and offers royal hospitality with breathtaking views over water or jungle.

Embark on an African soul safari

The Palace of the Lost City invites you to escape into the thrill of your journey. Bordering the malaria-free Pilanesberg National Park, discover a world of wildlife on your doorstep when you stay at The Palace. Embark on a hot-air balloon safari or guided game drive and discover the 'Super Seven', a term coined to include cheetah and wild dogs among the famous Big Five, all of which can be found here in abundance.

Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore’s latest romantic comedy was filmed during June and July of 2013 at South Africa’s Lost City at Sun City. Scenes were shot at the resort’s animal park, within the Palace of the Lost City hotel, on the hotel’s pool terrace and in the Crystal Court restaurant.

Teen star Bella Thorne played Barrymore’s daughter in Blended. Thorne diligently chronicled her African adventure online, posting pictures of herself cuddling lion cubs, holding a baby crocodile and twirling in a friend’s arms at Cape Point on Instagram. On June 8, 2013 she tweeted: “Cape Town is stunning. #GreatFood #GoodShopping #BeautifulViews.”

Both Sandler and Barrymore also visited Cape Town during a break in filming. Sandler turned heads at Hudson’s, a burger place on Kloof Street, while Barrymore prompted gasps when she unrolled her yoga mat next to 25 other at the popular Hot Dog Yoga Studio in Sea Point.

On a more serious note Adam Sandler was attacked by a cheetah while on a private safari on one of his off days. On David Letterman Sandler explained “I went there and they let me in with the cheetah. They said I could feed the cheetah water with my hands, and so I did it …something went a little bit wrong.”  In a video clip of the incident, Sandler can be seen crouching near the water when the cheetah suddenly jumps on his back. One of the rangers in the camp then runs over to get the animal off his back.”What happened was they said you’re not supposed to bend down low by the water and that’s why he got mad … I played it off real good … (but) I was very nervous,” he said. “I swear to God when he jumped on me all I was gonna do was let him eat me, there was not one part of me that was gonna fight back. I was like, all right this is how I’m dying.”

The interview may be viewed on Youtube .

While on the subject of getting hurt Blended shows the stars riding ostriches. Riding an ostrich takes a lot of skill but amateurs are welcome to try their luck in Oudtshoorn, in South Africa’s Karoo. Ostrich farms abound in this semi-desert area.

The Lost City at Sun City:

Most people consider the Lost City at Sun City to be South Africa’s family friendly version of Las Vegas. Developed by hotel magnate Sol Kerzner (the man behind Sun International, Atlantis, One and Only Hotels) in the late 70s this area of South Africa allowed gambling which was banned throughout the rest of the country. Being relatively close to the large metropolitan areas of Pretoria and Johannesburg Sun City soon became a popular holiday / weekend retreat.

The Lost City was inspired by a fantasy lost African tribe and there are 4 large resort hotels in addition to a timeshare complex. The most luxurious hotel is the 5 star Palace of the Lost City with 338 rooms and suites. The Cascades Hotel has 243 rooms, the Sun City Hotel has 340 rooms, and the Cabanas has 380 rooms. This makes a total of 1,301 total hotel rooms.

Having stayed at each of the hotels the Palace is by far my favorite… the entire property, inside and out, is fantastically decorated and the restaurant options are superb.

Amenities at the Lost City include a number of swimming pools in addition to a manmade lake named “Waterworld” where guests can parasail, water ski, canoe, wind surf, jet ski, paddle ski, or relax on a boat cruise. At the “Valley of the Waves” waterpark there are adrenaline pumping tube rides and slides. Other activities on offer include tennis, squash, horse riding, mountain biking, quad biking, clay pigeon shooting, archery, zip lining, and balloon safaris.

Sun City has 2 casinos and for golfers there are 2 Gary Player designed 18 hole courses – the Gary Player Course and the Lost City Course. Watch out for crocodiles in the water hazards! We are not joking…

Day and night time safari drives can be undertaken in open 4×4 vehicles in the adjoining Pilanesberg Game Reserve which is home to Africa’s Big 5 wildlife species – elephant, rhino, leopard, lion and buffalo.  Having said the above I do not consider this a prime wildlife viewing area by any stretch. There is some game but it is too touristy and crowded for my tastes. Parasailing behind your safari vehicle, although shown in the movie, is not an offered activity.

Sun City’s Superbowl Arena has hosted various concerts (Elton John, Queen, the Beach Boys) and a number of Miss South Africa and Miss World pageants over the years.

The Palace at the Lost City at Sun City is definitely worth a visit if you are looking for a 5 star casino / golf / family resort style property to relax at for 3 or 4 nights at the end of an African trip.  As for what to do while there I would spend my time soaking up the sun by the pool; I would play some golf, and spend an inordinate amount of time sampling the incredible food on offer. I would forego all wildlife viewing activities – enjoy a safari elsewhere in South Africa – Sabi Sands, Madikwe and / or Phinda would be superb.

Interested in visiting South Africa? If you are interested in visiting Sun City it could easily be incorporated into a wonderful South African family vacation. I would start with 3 nights in Cape Town. Considered one of the world’s most beautiful seaside city’s you can explore Table Mountain, the Cape Peninsula, and the historic winelands, hang out with penguins, take a boat ride to Robben Island where Nelson Mandela spent many years imprisoned, or even partake in a great white shark cage dive. My favorite place to stay would be in a superior sea facing room at the Twelve Apostles Hotel . As Ultimate Africa guests enjoy a 4 th night free of charge and if space is available the hotel will upgrade you to a 1 bedroom suite as well. Continue by air to the Kruger / Sabi Sands area for South Africa’s best wildlife viewing for 3 nights. Enjoy day and night wildlife viewing drives in your open 4×4 vehicle and professionally guided walks tracking Africa’s Big 5 wildlife species. There are a number of great Sabi Sands properties – Dulini Lodge and Savannah Tented Camp offer a superb 5 star experience and are both a great value. Singita, Lions Sands Ivory and Londolozi are my favorites when money is not a concern. Finish the trip with 3 nights in a luxury room at the Palace at the Lost City in Sun City – a fun 10 day get away.

Prices for the above trip start at US $5,200 per person + international flights in 2014.

About Blended

In 2014, Frank Coraci's romantic comedy Blended debuted with a remarkable cast that included Adam Sandler, Drew Barrymore, Kevin Nealon, Shaquille O'Neal, Terry Crews, and Joel McHale. This heartwarming film follows two single parents who unexpectedly meet on a blind date before coincidentally vacationing with their families at an African safari resort for spring break.

Lauren (Drew Barrymore) and Jim (Adam Sandler) are both apprehensive about entering the world of dating again. After an uncomfortable blind date that goes awry, they find themselves stuck together on a family vacation to Africa. Despite their initial reluctance to be in each other's company, they soon embark on adventures with their respective children. As they learn more about each other and form a bond, they must decide whether or not they are willing to take a chance on love once again.

Critics generally panned Blended, but it received some accolades for its performances. The movie received Best Performance in a Feature Film—Young Ensemble Cast from the Young Artist Awards in 2015. At the same time, Adam Sandler earned nominations for Teen Choice Awards for his performance as Jim. Rotten Tomatoes has bestowed the film with a favored approval rating of 15%, based on 140 critiques that rate it an average of 4.10/10. Audience members polled by CinemaScore gave the film an exceptional average "A−" grade on a scale from A+ to F.

Blended Locations

The production of the 2014 romantic comedy Blended utilized a variety of stunning global locations to craft the perfect backdrop for its story. Most of the scenes for this Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore-led film were shot at South Africa's Lost City resort, Sun City. Here, viewers can marvel at the scenery that features an animal park, the Palace of the Lost City Hotel, a pool terrace, and more. Some scenes were also captured in Georgia, USA, around the Gwinnett area, such as Buford and Lake Lanier. With a setting that combines vibrant wildlife with tranquil lakeside views, it is no surprise that Blended offers some unique filming locations worth exploring.

Travelers interested in experiencing the stunning landscapes utilized in Blended will certainly not be disappointed. A trip to South Africa’s Lost City presents visitors with an incredible array of attractions such as golf courses, crocodile pools, water parks, and magnificent gardens, all of which can be explored within the complex resort grounds. Meanwhile, nearby Lake Lanier offers many possibilities, including kayaking and fishing on its picturesque waters or a stroll along its shoreline, providing an ideal setting for a romantic picnic or getaway.

From Atlanta’s towering skyscrapers to South Africa’s wild safaris, this movie amalgamates natural and built wonders with great finesse to create its iconic visual allure.

Jim and Lauren's blind date scene in Blended

860 Duluth Hwy Suite 900, Lawrenceville, GA 30043, USA

The blind date scene is one of the movie's most iconic moments. It starts as Jim and Lauren, two single parents, go on a blind date at the Lawrenceville Hooters restaurant to find love again. The restaurant is a well-known chain famous for its chicken wings and waitresses wearing skimpy outfits. It sets the tone for the rest of the movie with its lighthearted atmosphere and quirky character dynamics.

Inside, you can expect classic American sports bar decor such as colorful lights, TVs showing sports games, pool tables, and alcoholic beverages on tap. Aside from that, there are plenty of delicious food options like burgers, sandwiches, and iconic chicken wings served by friendly waitresses in short shorts—just like they appear in Blended.

The scene was filmed at 860 Duluth Hwy Suite 900, Lawrenceville, GA 30043, USA. The location is easily accessible by car and public transport. Most people can reach it by taking I-85 N or I-285 N from Atlanta, for a total driving time of around half an hour from downtown Atlanta. Once you get to the shopping center, you can spot Hooters immediately, thanks to its bright orange logo on the building's facade.

Jim and Lauren's meeting at the resort scenes in Blended

Sun City Resort, R556, Sun City, 0316, South Africa

Jim and Lauren embark on a romantic vacation to South Africa with their Blended Honeymoon package. When they initially meet, the awkwardness between them is palpable, along with Brendan (Braxton Beckham) calling his mother "hot" and Espen (Emma Fuhrmann) still not ready to let go of his mom despite her absence. However, over time both sets of kids warm up to each other and their respective parents, creating a delightful mix of romance and comedy from this newfound bond.

The movie was filmed in Sun City Resort, located approximately 90 miles northwest of Pretoria, a neighboring city of Johannesburg in South Africa. To make it look even more lavish, the Palace of the Lost City Hotel was used as a backdrop for many scenes within the resort, featuring extravagant swimming pools, numerous restaurants, two golf courses, and much more.

To get to Sun City Resort, you’re looking at a two-hour drive from Pretoria or a two-and-a-half-hour drive northwest from Johannesburg.

Nature walk scenes in Blended

Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden, Rhodes Dr, Newlands, Cape Town, 7735, South Africa

In the romantic comedy Blended, the beautiful Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden in Cape Town was the backdrop for a memorable scene. The stunning fynbos blooms and lush greenery provide a lovely setting for their family outing. During this time, Jim and Lauren bond with their children as they participate in adventurous activities such as safari and parasailing.

Visiting Kirstenbosch is a sight to behold, regardless of the season; however, if you want a truly magnificent experience that allows you to appreciate the beauty and abundance of fynbos in all its glory—with flowers and plants blooming everywhere—then plan your visit between August and November. Kirstenbosch is located on Rhodes Drive at the foot of Table Mountain and was established in 1913. The area is well-known for its diverse vegetation, with over 8 600 indigenous plants representing 20 families. There are trails suitable for all ages that meander through various landscapes, from grasslands to mountain slopes, providing visitors with stunning views of gardens and mountains.

The easiest way to get there is by car or taxi, which is only 15 minutes from the city center. It is also accessible by public transport (MyCiti bus) or footpaths leading up from Constantia Nek or Newlands Forest Nature Reserve.

Tyler's baseball game scene in Blended

6262 Chestnut Hill Road, Flowery Branch, Georgia, USA

The final scene from the movie starts with a baseball game. Everyone supports Tyler (Kyle Red Silverstein), including Lauren and Brendan, Jen (Wendi McLendon-Covey) and Dick (Dan Patrick), and Jim and his daughters. As the game progresses, Jim gives Tyler some pointers on how to hit the ball as he had taught him in Africa, helping Tyler gain the confidence he needs. This inspiring moment is celebrated with cheers from all around. At the end of the game, Jim and Lauren admit their feelings for each other in front of everyone, including their kids, who know they are already a blended family. They share a passionate kiss that brings joy to everyone present.

This scene was filmed at Four Seasons Sports Park, which you can find at 6262 Chestnut Hill Road, Flowery Branch, Georgia. iIt’s a great spot for families looking to spend quality time together and host special celebrations like birthdays outdoors. This iconic location features a picturesque landscape filled with trees, lush grassy areas, picnic tables and BBQ grills.

This location is easily accessible from various directions, and is just a 45-mile drive from the heart of Atlanta.

Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore offer undeniable chemistry, bringing many lighthearted moments to the film. Though it follows a formulaic plotline, both actors do their best with what they have been given; despite characters of limited depth and range, they inject humanity into them. The rest of the cast provides satisfactory support that will garner quite a few laughs from audiences as well.

At the end of the day, Blended 2014 is worth watching if you enjoy classic Adam Sandler comedies like The Wedding Singer or 50 First Dates (also starring Barrymore). And if you want to check out some Blended filming locations, either in the USA or South Africa, they’re easy to track down for yourself.

First Trailer for BLENDED Starring Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore

The first Blended trailer for the romantic comedy, starring Adam Sandler, Drew Barrymore, Kevin Nealon, and Wendi McLendon-Covey.

Warner Bros. Pictures has released the first trailer for director Frank Coraci ’s ( Click ) upcoming romantic comedy Blended .  The film stars Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore as two single parents who, after vowing never to see each other following a disastrous blind date, end up booking the same African safari vacation and are forced to share a suite with each other’s families.  The film is very much in the vein of Sandler’s other recent string of comedies (it starts out with a pretty sick gross-out gag), but Sandler and Barrymore’s previous collaborations turned out pretty well with The Wedding Singer and 50 First Dates , so hopefully Blended can follow more in their footsteps.  It also doesn’t hurt to add the very funny  Terry Crews to the mix.

Hit the jump to watch the trailer.  The film also stars Wendi McLendon-Covey , Kevin Nealon , Bella Thorne , and Joel McHale .  Blended opens on May 23rd.

Adam Sandler & Drew Barrymore Reunite for Safari in 'Blended' Trailer

by Alex Billington December 17, 2013 Source: YouTube

Blended Trailer

"Is everyone ready to see the real Africa?!" Warner Bros has unveiled the first trailer for Blended , a new comedy starring Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore , reuniting again for their third time on screen following 50 First Dates and The Wedding Singer previously. This the time the two end up on an adventure to Africa with their whole family, a dysfunctional group stuck sharing a suite at a luxurious African safari resort for a week. If you were hoping this would be good, don't hold your breath, it looks pretty awful. Not only are half the animals CG, but it's easy to tell they're on sets half the time. I wish this looked funnier than it does here, maybe it will with another trailer, but for now it's yet another typical, bland summer comedy.

Here's the first official trailer for Frank Coraci's Blended , direct from Warner Bros' YouTube :

After a disastrous blind date, single parents Lauren (Barrymore) and Jim (Sandler) agree on only one thing: they never want to see each other again. But when they each sign up separately for a fabulous family vacation with their kids, they are all stuck sharing a suite at a luxurious African safari resort for a week. This also stars Joel McHale as Lauren’s ex-husband, and Wendi McLendon-Covey as her best friend; Kevin Nealon and Jessica Lowe as an overly romantic couple also vacationing; Terry Crews as the resort's singing host; and Dan Patrick as Dick. Blended is directed by Frank Coraci (of Murdered Innocence, The Wedding Singer, The Waterboy, Click, Zookeeper, Here Comes the Boom ), from a script by Ivan Menchell & Clare Sera. Warner Bros will release Blended in theaters everywhere starting May 23rd next summer. So?

All filmed in US?

Carpola on Dec 17, 2013

Nah, actually. The press release says that it "was filmed predominantly on location in South Africa." So there ya go.

Alex Billington on Dec 17, 2013

Just thought it looked like comedy Africa. 🙂

This movie looks terrible, like every Sandler movie post 50 First Dates, but I'm happy to see Barrymore back on the big screen.

doasis23 on Dec 17, 2013

Why do people still pay to see Adam Sandler suck in a movie? Please 2015 bring us a world where he stops polluting the world with shitty movies.

Brian Sleider on Dec 17, 2013

He's a genius Brian.

Clearly, makes awful movies, continues to make bank.

Why put effort into a film (Pacific Rim) when audiences want crap (Grown Ups 2)

cetrata on Dec 17, 2013

With Jack and Jill and That's My Boy disappointing, plus a decline in gross for Grown Ups 2 from its predecessor, audiences have shown that they're tiring of Sandler's penchant for lowbrow humor. The fact that he's teaming up with Drew Barrymore for this will mean next to nothing. Their last movie was 10 years ago.

ASFan on Dec 17, 2013

Sandler needs to keep making movies like this. Family fun movies with the feel good undertone. None of them are going to be box office hits, but they will make money, he doesn't have to be over the top, and he can coast the rest of his career catering to the mom's and their kids.

adam lamonica on Dec 17, 2013

Dear Adam Sandler, Please try to be funny again or retire from acting. We have loved your earlier films but your jokes are simply starting to suck now. Sincerely, Your Fans

Charlie Hard on Dec 18, 2013

Haha, agreed^. Maybe it's simply time to retire from comedy and look into drama or something. If he got better at his all around acting skills...he could make a good villain?

JBrotsis on Dec 18, 2013

Where are the CGI animals? I thought I'd be able to spot them. maybe the small animal next to the lions? That's literally the only one I spotted.

Linkfx on Dec 18, 2013

Jesus - Just by looking at the poster i dont even want to give this trailer a chance. I'm tired of him making these "family" movies. He needs to revert back to his Happy Gilmore days.

Such heroic nonsense on Dec 18, 2013

I don't think he has it in him to go back to those days. What he needs is to try something new, as in team up with another comedian who has made a name for himself and found just as much success.

ASFan on Dec 21, 2013

Why is it that if Barrymore were playing her character from 50 First Dates in this it would rock.?

Johnny Neat on Dec 18, 2013

The Lions looked all scraggly and beat up. They must've used the bargain basement Lions to keep costs down huh? I guess since the species is nearly EXTINCT I shouldn't be surprised.

9 Best African Safari Lodges for Families

Giraffe Manor; Courtesy of Giraffe Manor

Can you imagine waking up to a brilliant sunrise over the savannah before heading out on a real African safari? Africa is a beautiful and diverse continent, and choices abound when it comes to game-viewing destinations for families.

If planning a trip there, you’ll want to select a location with easy access (close to an airport) and facilities designed with children in mind. You’ll want to stay in a Malaria-free region, too, so that your family doesn’t need to take preventative medication. You’ll want to confirm any age requirements before booking your safari accommodations, as well, since many lodges set an age limit on game drives. Still, many offer kids’ programs with age-appropriate activities so your little ones can get the most out of this once-in-a-lifetime experience.

1. Madikwe Safari Lodge

Located in the Malaria-free Madikwe Reserve in the North West Province of South Africa,  Madikwe Safari Lodge  gets top ratings from families for the accommodations and age-appropriate introductions to the African bush. The lodge also welcomes children as young as 2 years old.

Book one of two spacious family suites in the Lelapa Lodge that can accommodate up to two children under the ages of 10. The suites even have private pools that are covered with a safety net when you’re not using them.

Many of the lodge employees have children themselves so they know what kids like. But, the lodge will also take your kids’ food preferences into account. Just let them know what works best for your family and the staff will do their best to accommodate.

“Adult” safaris in open vehicles are available for those ages 6 and older, while “Family” safari drives—also in open vehicles—can accommodate children between the ages of 2 and 6. There are also a ton of fun activities for kids, like Bug CSI with a field ranger; painting and coloring; making pizzas in the lodge’s new pizza oven at the boma; impromptu soccer games; and viewing the night sky. Best of all, Madikwe Safari Lodge doesn’t charge for children 6 years or younger.

2. Four Seasons Safari Lodge Serengeti

Family safari vacations are an expensive proposition and the Four Seasons Safari Lodge Serengeti is a no budget option. However, it’s a fabulous destination in Tanzania that is ideal for families with deep pockets. The lodge and its 77 guest rooms are tucked into the plains of the Central Serengeti.

East Africa is home to places your kids have read about in school—Mount Kilimanjaro, the Ngorongoro Crater and Lake Victoria. The Four Seasons Safari Lodge Serengeti is located in the homelands of the Maasai people. Known originally as warriors, the indigenous population now survives as craftsman, farmers and ranchers. They wear distinctive brightly colored traditional clothing.

Most impressively, this lodge is smack dab in the middle of the path of the annual Great Migration of millions of animals, including wildebeests, antelopes and zebras; it takes place between July and September. You’ll also have no trouble viewing the Big Five here.

In addition to the Four Seasons’ top-notch service, families can take advantage of the Discovery Centre. It’s the gathering place where guests learn about the Maasai people and Africa’s history, and take part in programs that support local schools and wildlife conservation.

Finally, the Kijana Club is open to kids ages 8 to 17 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. Here, children can work on arts and crafts projects, take part in environmental programs, learn about the animals of the Serengeti, or simple enjoy some downtime playing videogames or watching a movie. This is a nice option in case your kids get tired and don’t want to go on every single game drive during their stay.

3. Camp Jabulani

Magic happens every day at Camp Jabulani , located nearKruger National Park in South Africa’s Kapama Game Reserve. Here, your family will meet a herd of very special elephants that live on the property.

In 1997, a 4-month-old elephant was found abandoned. He was taken to the nearby Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre, where he was hand-reared and named Jabulani. Later, in 2002, HESC launched a rescue mission for a dozen Zimbabwean elephants whose lives swung in the balance when they were tagged for meat after the war. When the elephants arrived in South Africa, it was clear that Jabulani would become part of their family. Camp Jabulani was created as both a home for the elephants and a place were visitors could come to spend time with them. Fifteen elephants now reside on the property.

This is a high-end Relais & Chateaux property, and staying at this all-inclusive lodge doesn’t come cheap. But the elephant-back safaris and time spent interacting with the herd is priceless. Kids must be 12 years or older to stay at the main lodge.

A few days at Camp Jabulani’s Zindoga Presidential Villa is a must for families who can afford it. This is a camp-within-a-camp, and includes two spacious suites connected by a living and dining area. There’s also a private heated plunge pool and roomy wooden deck for game viewing. You’ll have your own safari team, including a ranger (and private 4×4 vehicle), and a chef and butler. Children of any age are welcome at Zindoga.

Young guests are also invited to take part in the camp’s excellent children’s program, Team Tusker. Activities include storytelling, dress-up parties, arts and crafts projects, tracking tutorials, bird watching and bug catching, as well as survival basics.

4. Giraffe Manor

While not exactly a game lodge, Giraffe Manor in Nairobi, Kenya, is an incredibly child-friendly small hotel that is home to a herd of very playful Rothschild giraffe. You can even hand feed them at the kitchen table or at the front door of the hotel, which was originally built to resemble a Scottish hunting camp.

There are 10 bedrooms here, along with two suites with direct access to the courtyard, ideal for families. Rates are all-inclusive and even include transportation to and from the airport, along with admission to the AFEW (African Fund for Endangered Wildlife) Giraffe Centre on property. Children of all ages are welcome.

The hotel is just outside Nairobi and is surrounded by forest with views of Mt. Kilimanjaro in the south. The resort’s giraffe population shares its home with many different types of birds, warthogs and even the rare bushbuck.

5. King’s Camp

King’s Camp is one of the best-kept secrets when it comes to affordable luxury while on safari in South Africa. Located in the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve, this is one of the only places in the world where you can see rare white lions in the wild. The “Big Five” (elephant, lion, leopard, Cape buffalo and black rhinoceros) and many other species are spotted here, pretty much on a daily basis.

This camp, which accepts children 6 years and older, harkens back to Colonial days and strikes the right balance of elegance and comfort. You can book one of 11 standalone thatched-roof bungalows, or Waterbuck Private Camp, a four-bedroom villa that comes with its own safari vehicle, ranger, butler and chef. The camp is roomy enough for a family of eight and is situated on a dry riverbank that offers fantastic game viewing. In-room decor includes beautiful and functional mosquito nets, claw-footed tubs, indoor and outdoor showers and a private patio decked out with a hammock. The rangers, trackers, camp managers, chef and staff create a family-like environment, and guests feel welcome the moment they arrive.

An on-property watering hole draws the attention of animals all day long, and guests either relax by the camp’s pool or in the shade of the thatched viewing deck to watch the elephants and impala stop for a drink or dip.

6. Luangwa Safari House

Here’s an option for reticent safari-goers: a private house in  Zambia’s South Luangwa National Park that offers the comforts of home. Luangwa Safari House , one of the accommodations offered by Robin Pope Safaris, can comfortably house up to eight people in four bedrooms and a spacious dining/living area. A chef, house manager and private guide (and vehicle) are all at your disposal. Meals and activities are carefully matched to your family’s interests, too.

There’s also a solid children’s program that extends from game drives to guided nature walks to trips to the Kawaza Village School and Chimpembele Wildlife Education Center. Back at the camp, kids can help collect eggs from the hen house and bake cookies in the kitchen with the chef. Children age 7 and up are welcome at Luangwa Safari House.

7. Richard’s Camp

In southwestern Kenya, look no further than family-owned and operated Richard’s Camp, where you’ll find traditional tented accommodations near the Masai Mara Game Reserve. Forest Camp sits on the edge of a riverine forest with grass plains stretching away from it. This means game drives easily sight elephants, big cats and herbivores like zebra and impala that graze the plains each day.

Six tented suites are available with either twin or double beds, and extra beds can be brought in for families sharing accommodations. The tents operate via solar power and offer 24-hour light, heated showers and flushing toilets. Meals are enjoyed outdoors or in the camp’s sitting area in front of a roaring fire. There is also a private camp on the property that can accommodate up to 10 individuals; this is ideal for families who want complete privacy. There are also additional lodgings at River Camp located about a half-hour away.

Game drives and escorted bush walks are the core of the experience here, but you can also go on a day trip to nearby Lake Victoria, visit a Maasai village, go on a hot air balloon safari, or flight-see over the gorgeous Masai Mara. The camp’s owners are raising their own child right on the property and can expertly answer questions about age-appropriate safari activities.

8. &Beyond’s WILDchild Program & Family Suites

&Beyond is an African safari specialist offering accommodations throughout southern and East Africa. The company recently devised its WILDchild program that’s available at all lodges. Rangers trained in working with children keep kids engaged throughout their vacation with special programs about wildlife, conservation, and African culture.

The company also installed new family suites at select lodges in South Africa and Tanzania. &Beyond recommends many lodges for families, including Kirkman’s Kamp, Phinda Zuka Lodge, Ngorongoro Crater Lodge, and others.

&Beyond Kirkman’s Kamp is a favorite with families due to its location in the Sabi Sand Game Reserve next to Kruger National Park. It’s an easy 90-minute charter flight from Johannesburg and yet the animal viewing is exquisite. That’s because there are no boundary fences between the Reserve and National Park. Animals—and game drive participants—roam across that invisible line. It’s not unusual to see leopard, lion, elephant, buffalo, and rhino here. This area also allows off-road driving so your guide will get you as close to the wildlife as possible.

Photo Courtesy of Shamwari Riverdene Lodge

9. Shamwari Riverdene Lodge

The Riverdene Lodge in the Shamwari Game Reserve in South Africa’s Eastern Cape is an ideal spot for your family’s first safari adventure. Located in Port Elizabeth, in a Malaria-free area, the lodges here—Riverdene in particular—happily welcome families with children as young as 4 (although kids must be older in order to go on a game drive).

There is so much to do here beyond normal game drives, including visits to the Born Free Foundation Big Cat Rescue Center that houses lions and leopard that have been saved from circuses and zoos, and the Shamwari Wildlife Hospital that nurses wounded wild animals back to health before releasing them back into the wild.

Riverdene Lodge features nine interconnecting, air-conditioned rooms, satellite television, a lounge area, private balconies leading to the garden and BBQ area, and a swimming pool. An onsite children’s coordinator is on hand to suggest activities custom-tailored for your family’s unique interests.

The film was directed by  Frank Coraci, written by Ivan Menchell and Clare Sera and produced by Adam Sandler. “Blended” marks the third comedy collaboration between stars Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore, following their successful onscreen pairings in the hit romantic comedies “50 First Dates” and “The Wedding Singer.”

Film Synopsis: After a disastrous blind date, single parents Lauren (Barrymore) and Jim (Sandler) agree on only one thing: they never want to see each other again.  But when they each sign up separately for  a fabulous family vacation with their kids, they are all stuck sharing a suite at a luxurious African safari resort for  a week.

“Blended” also stars Joel McHale as Lauren’s ex-husband, Mark, and Wendi McLendon-Covey as her best friend, Jen; Kevin Nealon and Jessica Lowe as an overly romantic couple also vacationing at the resort; and Terry Crews as the resort’s singing host.  Shaquille O’Neal appears as Jim’s coworker, Doug, and Dan Patrick (ESPN SportsCenter) as their boss, Dick.

Playing the kids are: Bella Thorne of Disney Channel’s “Shake it Up,” Emma Fuhrmann and Alyvia Alyn Lynd as Jim’s daughters; and Kyle Red Silverstein and Braxton Beckham as Lauren’s sons.

Fun fact: “Blended” director Frank Coraci previously collaborated with Sandler and Barrymore on “The Wedding Singer” and also directed Sandler in the hit comedies “The Waterboy” and “Click.” “Blended” was filmed predominantly on location in South Africa.

Slated for release on May 23, 2014, “Blended” is rated PG-13.

Some of the best chances in the world to see wildlife are in Africa. On a safari, the “ Big Five “—the lion, elephant, rhino, Cape buffalo, and the elusive leopard—take center stage, but it may also be fascinating and interesting to view the smaller, less famous species, such as impalas, zebras, and hyenas. Nothing compares to a safari that includes watching the Great Migration in Kenya’s Masai Mara or Tanzania’s Serengeti. The Okavango Delta in Botswana and Kruger National Park in South Africa are two additional fantastic safari locations . Coordinates of Elektrostal in decimal degrees

Coordinates of elektrostal in degrees and decimal minutes, utm coordinates of elektrostal, geographic coordinate systems.

WGS 84 coordinate reference system is the latest revision of the World Geodetic System, which is used in mapping and navigation, including GPS satellite navigation system (the Global Positioning System).

Geographic coordinates (latitude and longitude) define a position on the Earth’s surface. Coordinates are angular units. The canonical form of latitude and longitude representation uses degrees (°), minutes (′), and seconds (″). GPS systems widely use coordinates in degrees and decimal minutes, or in decimal degrees.

Latitude varies from −90° to 90°. The latitude of the Equator is 0°; the latitude of the South Pole is −90°; the latitude of the North Pole is 90°. Positive latitude values correspond to the geographic locations north of the Equator (abbrev. N). Negative latitude values correspond to the geographic locations south of the Equator (abbrev. S).

Longitude is counted from the prime meridian ( IERS Reference Meridian for WGS 84) and varies from −180° to 180°. Positive longitude values correspond to the geographic locations east of the prime meridian (abbrev. E). Negative longitude values correspond to the geographic locations west of the prime meridian (abbrev. W).

UTM or Universal Transverse Mercator coordinate system divides the Earth’s surface into 60 longitudinal zones. The coordinates of a location within each zone are defined as a planar coordinate pair related to the intersection of the equator and the zone’s central meridian, and measured in meters.

Elevation above sea level is a measure of a geographic location’s height. We are using the global digital elevation model GTOPO30 .
