📝 PSG frustrated by Al-Nassr in first friendly of Japan tour
Paris Saint-Germain were frustrated by Al-Nassr in the opening friendly of their Japan pre-season tour.
Luis Enrique’s side were held by the Cristiano Ronaldo-led Saudi Pro League outfit, who handed a second-half debut to new signing Alex Telles.
OneFootball Videos
The French champions enjoyed their best chance midway through the first half when Warren Zaire-Emery fired into the side-netting from a tight angle.
Al-Nassr’s most likely opening fell to Ronaldo late in opening 45 minutes as he met a right-sided cross to force a good stop from Gianluigi Donnarumma.
PSG introduced summer recruit Manuel Ugarte as one of nine changes shortly after the hour mark as they aimed to break the deadlock in Osaka.
But Enrique’s new charges were unable to build on their maiden pre-season win ahead of a further two friendlies with Cerezo Osaka and Inter.

PSG confirm pre-season Japan Tour for 2023
By antonio losada | jun 2, 2023.
As we already reported last March , PSG has made the official announcement of their plans to embark on a new tour of Japan as part of their summer preseason.
The Parisian club will organize three friendly matches in the Asian country, including a rematch against Cristiano Ronaldo -led Al-Nassr from Saudi Arabia . Both teams already played each other following the World Cup when PSG visited the Middle Eastern country last January.
This summer, PSG will return to Japan, replicating their initiative from the previous year. Last preseason, Paris Saint-Germain already toured the Asian nation when they trained and got ready for the now-ending 2022/23 campaign.
2023 #PSGJapanTour2023 🇯🇵 pic.twitter.com/l2C0OaGVgT — PSG Japan (@PSGJapan) June 2, 2023
While the scheduling of the Trophée des Champions (PSG will face French Cup winners Toulouse ) remains uncertain, the reigning French champions will fine-tune their game in Asia with games scheduled to take place at the end of July and the start of August .
"After the successful tour last summer, the Paris Saint-Germain football team will once again visit Japan to play three friendly matches in Osaka and Tokyo , further solidifying the club's bond with its Japanese fans."
The 2023 summer tour is scheduled from Jul. 22nd to Aug. 2nd , during which the team will play games against Al-Nassr (Jul. 25th) and Cerezo Osaka (Jul. 28th and ) in Osaka, and then clash with Inter Milan (Aug. 1st) in Tokyo to wrap up their Asian tour.
While PSG and Cristiano Ronaldo will meet once again after doing so last January, the French team won't bring Lionel Messi along with them as the Argentine world champion will already be plying his trade elsewhere with his current contract ending by Jun. 30th .
PSG faced an All-Star team built with players from both Al-Hilal and Al-Nassr teams during a friendly gala match held in Saudi Arabia in January.
It looks like Paris Saint-Germain , even after "denying" this weekend will mark the final time Messi will play at the Parc des Princes , has already accepted his departure and has moved on from using his image in promotional content as the Argentina international was used in the promo of the new kit but not at all in the Japan Tour PR content.

PSG already visited Japan between July 17th and 28th last year, playing three friendly matches and performing different commercial activities with local partners involving their players.

PSG to face Ronaldo's Al-Nassr on Japan summer tour
Paris Saint-Germain will face Cristiano Ronaldo's Al Nassr and Champions League finalists Inter Milan in summer friendlies in Japan, the French title-holders said Friday.
PSG travelled to Japan to play three local clubs last summer and were greeted by sell-out crowds, even for their training sessions.
This year they will take on Saudi side Al Nassr in Osaka on July 25 and J-League club Cerezo Osaka three days later.
There will be no head-to-head however between Ronaldo and old rival Lionel Messi, with the Argentine set to leave PSG.
Messi was not among the players PSG used to illustrate the tour announcement on their website.
They round off their Japan visit against Inter, who play Manchester City in the Champions League final, at Tokyo's National Stadium on August 1.
City, Bayern Munich and Celtic have also announced tours to Japan this summer.
PSG clinched a record 11th French title last week as Messi scored in a 1-1 away draw at Strasbourg.

Al-Nassr manager praises players’ ‘fighting spirit’ on Japan tour
- Ronaldo a crowd favorite as Saudi team earns 1-1 draw with Inter Milan in pre-season friendly
TOKYO: Saudi team Al-Nassr drew 1-1 with Inter Milan in a pre-season friendly on Thursday at Yanmar Stadium in Osaka, with Ronaldo once again a huge attraction for the Japanese fans.
The Portuguese international played the first half, and delighted the crowd with his tricks, skills and powerful shooting.
Al-Nassr coach Luis Castro said that his side put on good displays against European Champions League finalists Inter Milan and Paris Saint-German.
“Al-Nassr is a team in the process of growth,” he said. “But I believe we showed strong fighting spirit. Both of our opponents in these matches were of higher caliber, and Inter Milan is a team that made it to the final of the UEFA Champions League.
“We were able to play at a high level against both these teams, and it was really beneficial in terms of both the mental and technical side of the game, so I think we really got something from (the Japan tour).”
Castro said that Saudi Arabia has high-quality players, and as globalization accelerates, the quality of the national team and Saudi league will improve.
“It’s a natural progression,” he said.
Ronaldo offered a message to J. League team Cerezo Osaka’s academy players, saying: “Have dreams. Believe in yourself. Be true to yourself.”

Al-Hilal shifts focus to the Asian Champions League semifinals as it continues a four-title bid
The likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema haven’t been able to halt Al-Hilal’s dominant run in Saudi Arabia’s domestic soccer league. Now it’s the turn of Al-Ain of the United Arab Emirates to come up against this seemingly unstoppable force in the semifinals of the Asian Champions League.
Al-Hilal is in contention for an unprecedented collection of four titles. The first trophy was secured last week when Malcom scored twice for the club in a 4-1 win over Al-Ittihad in the Saudi Super Cup final. With seven games in the Saudi Pro League remaining, the Blues are 12 points clear of Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr.
On April 30, the Riyadh-based club will meet Al-Ittihad of Jeddah in the semifinals of the King’s Cup, a domestic knockout competition.
Al-Hilal also has its sights set on a record fifth continental title, though is expecting a challenge Tuesday against the Hernan Crespo coached Al-Ain, the 2003 champions who ousted Al-Nassr in the Asian Champions League quarterfinals.
“We have only won one trophy and there are three more to go for,” defender Ali Al-Bulaihi told Saudi Arabian TV ahead of the continental semifinals. “Al-Hilal is a system and everyone at the club from the bottom to the top works hard and this is the reason for success. We are not afraid of any team and we are ready for any challenge."
Despite being without injured striker Aleksandar Mitrovic, the joint leading scorer in this season’s Asian Champions League, and Brazilian superstar Neymar, Al-Hilal is still in great form. The Super Cup victory over Ittihad extended its world record winning streak for top tier teams to 34 games.
While Al-Hilal is strongly favored to overcome Al-Ain and progress to next month's final, the meeting in the eastern zone — Asia's top continental club tournament is divided into two geographic halves until the final — appears closer to call.
The eastern zone playoff is between last season’s champion of South Korea and Japan’s runner-up as Ulsan HD, Asian champions in 2012 and 2022, welcomes Yokohama F. Marinos.
Five-time Japanese champion Yokohama has never reached this stage in Asia before, even under successful coaches Ange Postecoglou and Kevin Muscat.
Harry Kewell is the third successive Australian coach at the club and is hoping to take Yokohama all the way.
“It’s important to understand when I first came into the job it was always going to be a quick turnaround for us because of the AFC Champions League games that were coming up,” Kewell, appointed in December, said. “The attitude of the players has been excellent — the willingness from them to learn a slightly new style."
“It’s been quite easy to implement my ideas," added Kewell, who won the UEFA Champions League as a player with Liverpool in 2005. "They’ve accepted it and they’ve worked very hard in perfecting them throughout the games.”
Yokohama will host Ulsan in the return leg of the semifinals on April 24, a day after Al-Hilal takes on Al-Ain in Saudi Arabia.

Could Cristiano Ronaldo play in Hong Kong with Al Nassr?
Hong Kong’s top officials have a plan to bring in Cristiano Ronaldo and Al Nassr in January 2025 , as announced by the president of the city’s Football Association, Pui-Kwan Kay in an interview with the South China Morning Post.
After failing in its match with Inter Miami, in which an injury deprived world champion Lionel Messi of playing , the Hong Kong FA now plan to bring his greatest rival to the club: Cristiano Ronaldo .
Ronaldo to Hong Kong ‘a good idea’
“If Al Nassr is going to play exhibition matches in some cities, the expensive fees could be split. I don’t know if Al Nassr will return to China, but [bringing Ronaldo to Hong Kong] is a good idea because he is one of the most popular players,” Kwan-Kay said.
We also need to think about the other teams [to invite]. Kai Tak [stadium] is opening, so we need some mega events.
“The HKFA could just take the lead [alongside other parties], or be the organisers, but it’s just too early to say. As of now, we’re only at the stage of consideration and discussion.”
He also said that the idea is to bring other teams, including clubs from Eastern Europe or the Portuguese First Division. Despite the tight-lipped plans on CR7, he did make clear is that it is not among the plans to invite Inter Miami again next year.
‘It is not appropriate to ask about Messi at this time’
“Personally, it is not appropriate to ask about Messi at this time,” Pui said . “ No priority will be given to him and his team ,” Pui added about a possibility that Inter Miami could return to Hong Kong.
Inter Miami played a friendly match against a Hong Kong team earlier this year. In that game, the North Americans won 4-1, but Messi and Suárez were not called up, causing outrage from fans and even provoking China to cancel Argentina’s tour .
Messi apologised for Hong Kong no-show
The World Cup winner even issued an apology online , saying in a video that “I have read and heard many things that were said after the game in Hong Kong. I wanted to record this video to give you the true version and not have to read false things. “As you all know I always want to play and be involved in every game . I’ve heard people say that I did not play for political reasons .”
“If that had been the case, then he would not have travelled to Japan or visited China so many times”, he added, “ since I started my career I have had a great relationship with China , from interviews, matches and events, both with Barcelona and the national team.”
He continued: “The first match I played in Arabia I felt [ an injury ], in the second I tried to play and it was worse. I tried to train and make an effort the day before because of all the people there. In fact, I did what I could and was at the clinic with all the kids there. But the truth is I couldn’t play because I felt discomfort and there was a risk of getting worse.”
