The Atlanta Centurion Lounge is the latest Centurion Lounge to open worldwide and is also the largest. Unsurprisingly, this lounge has the largest footprint, considering the traffic that Atlanta airport sees daily! With separate indoor and outdoor areas, it’s an AvGeek’s haven.
Let’s look at all this lounge has to offer and what makes it so worthwhile.
ATL Lounge Location and Hours
This lounge is next to gate E11. With all gates at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) airside, you must take the interterminal SkyTrain to reach the E gates and then walk over to E11. The E gates are among several Delta flies out of, so it’s particularly convenient if you’re flying Delta, though it shouldn’t take too long to reach the lounge if you’re flying on another carrier.
Atlanta’s airport is massive, however, and even with the SkyTrain, you should leave plenty of time to get from the lounge to your departing flight. Don’t wait until the last minute!
This lounge is almost 26,000 square feet , double the size of the same lounge at DFW!
You can find a Centurion Lounge in these other cities:
The Atlanta Centurion Lounge is open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., which should cover the majority of flight departures.
You’ll need one of the following American Express cards to enter the lounge:
- The Platinum Card ® from American Express
- The Business Platinum Card ® from American Express
- Centurion Card ® from American Express
- Delta SkyMiles ® Reserve American Express Card (when flying on a Delta flight booked with the Delta Reserve card)
- Delta SkyMiles ® Reserve Business American Express Card (when flying on a Delta flight booked with the Delta Reserve card)
When you enter the lounge, an employee will ask you to present a photo I.D. and boarding pass. You won’t be able to enter the lounge without these.
- If you hold an Amex Platinum card or Amex Business Platinum card and have spent more than $75,000 on either card in the calendar year, you can enter with 2 guests for free.
- If you don’t meet this spending threshold, you can purchase a day pass, which costs $50 per adult or $30 per child between 2 and 17.
- If you hold a Delta Reserve card, you’re always subject to the $50-per-adult guest fee or $30 per child between 2 and 17.
You need to follow these guidelines to enter:
- Access to the lounge is only within 3 hours of departure , so there’s no need to arrive at the airport super early. If you do, you’ll be asked to wait until the 3-hour mark.
- If your final destination is Atlanta, you can’t use the lounge on arrival. The lounge is for departing passengers only.
- You can use the lounge prior to 3 hours to departure if you’re on a connecting itinerary, Atlanta is your connecting city, and the layover is longer than 3 hours.
The lounge has tons of seating throughout , making finding a place to sit a bit easier when the lounge is crowded at peak times.
Some of the other Centurion Lounge locations do not have power outlets at every seat, but the Atlanta lounge has charging at most seats.
Along the lounge’s windows are high seats facing the planes, which is excellent for AvGeeks. Like the other seats, there are power outlets along the rails.
Several flight status boards by the main entrance display the current departure times of all flights departing throughout the airport. As mentioned, you need to keep an eye on this and leave well before your flight, as Atlanta’s airport is so big!
Lounge Amenities
This enormous lounge is built to accommodate the many cardmembers stopping by while transiting through Atlanta.
This Centurion Lounge offers several amenities for both work and play, with private workspaces and outdoor features to make the airport waiting game much more pleasurable.
There is a dual-use family room and multipurpose room, suitable for guests who need more space to spread out.
Unique to this lounge are 3 (yes, 3!) outdoor terraces , a first for any Centurion Lounge:
- The largest terrace extends around the perimeter of the lounge and offers views of the planes, tarmac, gates, and runways. This is open to all cardmembers.
- A pair of outdoor spaces offers fresh air but no views and are surrounded by walls in the middle of the lounge. Still, these are great spots to sit outside without the noise of nearby planes.
- One of the inside terraces features a private room for Centurion cardholders, an exclusive perk for those members.
This lounge offers 3 shower suites , all of which can be reserved at the front desk. You put your name on a list, and when a shower is ready, your name is called. Towels and soap are provided, and the staff asks you to keep your time inside to less than 30 minutes when other guests are waiting.
In addition to the 3 showers, there were 2 private, all-gender restrooms , along with larger men- and women-only bathrooms.
Complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi is accessible throughout the lounge. Centurion Lounges tend to have particularly fast Wi-Fi, good for downloading content before your departure.
Those looking to catch up on work can utilize 1 of 5 enclosed workstations. These individual stalls are behind glass doors and feature a table and chair, perfect for staying focused. These are first come, first serve and do not need any reservation.
Phone booths are the perfect place to sit down to work or take a quick conference call.
If you are conducting business, a printer and copier are also on hand.
On the far end of the lounge on the other side of the atrium are 2 buffet areas , with many booths and dining tables scattered throughout. This is where most of the lounge’s food is found.
For breakfast, guests can choose among dishes such as:
- Chicken sausage
- Pimento cheese grits
- Sweet potato hash
- Tomato, spinach, egg and scallion bread pudding
For lunch and dinner, dishes may include items such as:
- Bananas Foster pudding
- Black-eyed pea biryani
- Braised greens with smoked turkey
- Three-cheese macaroni bake
- Twisted Soul salad with strawberry peppercorn vinaigrette
- Vegetable gumbo with jalapeño hoe cakes
- Za’atar grilled chicken thighs with green tomato chimichurri
As you can probably tell, a number of these dishes were a nod to the South. The menu was by local chef Deborah VanTrece, author of “The Twisted Soul Cookbook.”
The bars are located in this area, serving complimentary cocktails.
The bar has many fun cocktails, including:
- Drink A Peach , which has Independent Distilling Co. Hellbender straight rye whiskey, Leopold’s peach-flavored whiskey, Martini Rubino vermouth, and Miracle Mile peach bitters
- Great Uncle , with Uncle Nearest 1884 Tennessee whiskey, sorghum syrup, and Angostura bitters
- Hot One , with Independent Distilling Co. white rum, Del Maguey Vida mezcal, lime juice, Jack Rudy grenadine, and Tabasco
- Peachy Keen , with Murrell’s Row gin, Tito’s vodka, Dolin Blanc vermouth, and Kina L’Avion D’Or
Nearby is The Reserve by American Express , a dedicated whiskey bar beside the main bar where you can order your favorite whiskey drinks.
The new Atlanta Centurion Lounge offers the largest Centurion Lounge experience to date, a fitting addition to one of the busiest airports in the world. Complete with several outdoor terraces, this lounge is the ultimate in airport luxury. It offers the perfect mix of relaxation and productivity, which is great for all travelers. Next time you’re in Atlanta, be sure to check out the Centurion Lounge in ATL’s Terminal E.

When traveling to another country it is always best to make sure you cash out or spend all your foreign currency before coming back to the US; but if you don't you can always sale your foreign currency to Altour American Express located in Lenox Plaza. You will certainly pay to sale your currency back, but at least you re-coop some of your money. On a recent trip to Mexico we bought pesos at the rate of $12.95 pesos to the USD and ended up bringing back a few pesos. After going to my bank Wells Fargo I referred to Altour; which was luckily located next door to my office so it is very nice to just have to walk over this morning and sale the pesos. After an $8 service charge and their exchange rate of $1 USD to $14.86 pesos I only took a loss of $23.21 USD. Not bad considering it will probably be a while before I return to Mexico, so I got a little bit of my money back. Also, I should mention if you are selling your currency back to Altour AMEX is that they do not buy coins; only bills. I've now got $36 pesos in coins as souvenirs to remind me of my trip to Mexico.
They changed their weekend hours apparently (no sign on the door or website change) so they close at 4 now. I'm not going to lie, both times i've been there the people helping me were very curt, borderline rude & didn't seem happy to be there. All I wanted to do was exchange money& she acted like I interrupted her. Just don't go in there expecting cheery attitudes. Not a bad service fee though.
Excellent experience. I called before visiting the location. AmEx card holders are only changed a $5 fee for the service. I couldn't beat that! Once I told the rep I was traveling to Cuba, she provided helpful tips.
I found out about this place when I was going to Paris the next day from Bank of America. Bofa didnt have any foreign currency in hand so they referred me to the Amex place. It's inside the Lenox Place bldg. Just park upfront and its right there in front. I called about their rates before going there but the next day the Euro had gone up...oh well. I didn't have much of a choice. A guy was in line before me and walked out because he said the Euro was lower when he called the day before....ummm dude...it's going to be the same everywhere. Anyhoo, the lady that helped me was nice and gently explained the fees since I didn't know shit about changing money. Next time I will make sure to change my money at Bofa or any bank 4 days before my trip and if not, American Express on Peachtree Rd will be my go to place for foreign currency exchange! :D
The service is poor at the very least. The representatives are not customer focused and lack helpful information. They are all about up-selling and add-ons. Also, I exchanged US Dollars to GB Pounds. When I tried to use some of the GBP in the UK, I was told it was old currency that was out of circulation. It was, therefore, useless. Don't go to the Atlanta (Buckhead) office for currency exchange.

Thank you for your comment. Kindly give us a call at your convenience and ask to speak to a manager? We are looking into your issue at our ALTOUR office and sell only valid Currency notes, however would like to discuss further with you. The only add-ons our office offers is Travel Cheques, which we do not recommend for most situations. We greatly appreciate your time and look forward to speaking to you further.
You need to check with them because different cards have different benefits. For example, the exchange rate for my card is very competitive, but the only way I can get cash from them would be at an extra 5%, clearly not that competitive. Bank of America, by the way, wants about $.07 per Euro for the exchange, what I consider a "rip off" rate.
My fiancé and I are planning a destination wedding. We went to a friends wedding last year who used American Express travel so we decided to contact them. I work near this location so figured I would reach out to get some info. The morning that I called I was told the "destination specialist" would contact me that afternoon but it wasn't until the next day which is fine. However after spending the time to explain exactly what areas we were interested in and the dates I was told I would have the information sent to me by the end of the following day. Never received any follow up so we moved on to another travel agent. Just thought it was very poor practice for such a large agency.
Quick and convenient service with a much better exchange rate than Travelex. This is one of the best options for in-store foreign currency exchange for those without a Bank of America account or access to other financial institutions which offer currency exchange. Downside is a $10 fee for non-American Express account holders. Though in the middle of Buckhead, very convenient store-front parking.

American Express will open the world's largest Centurion Lounge in Atlanta
Update: Some offers mentioned below are no longer available. View the current offers here .
American Express has confirmed that the world's largest Centurion Lounge is coming to the nation's busiest airport.
The issuer is building a roughly 26,000-square-foot club at the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL), an Amex spokesperson told TPG. The lounge will open next year and will be the first in the network to feature multiple outdoor spaces.
Amex is teasing some additional amenities that'll be unique to the Atlanta outpost, including Southern design influenced by the city's local landscape and culture. Travelers can expect a full buffet, as well as a modern bourbon bar, a first for a Centurion Lounge.
Perhaps most exciting is that the Atlanta outpost will be the first to feature terraces. Amex describes the "multiple outdoor areas" as being inspired by the "city's rich tree canopy." Aviation enthusiasts will undoubtedly appreciate open tarmac views from the outdoor deck.
But that's not all. More unique amenities will be announced closer to opening, an Amex spokesperson told TPG.
The new Centurion Lounge will be located in Concourse E at the ATL airport. All concourses in Atlanta are connected after security by an underground train, so any departing or connecting traveler could visit the Centurion Lounge before their flight.
At 26,000 square feet, the Atlanta Centurion Lounge will be nearly 11,000 square feet bigger than the largest Centurion Lounge to in New York-JFK — the largest to date.
In addition to the Centurion Lounge, travelers with The Platinum Card® from American Express can access the Delta Sky Club when flying with Delta. However, with Amex's new flagship Centurion Lounge, most savvy travelers will likely prefer to relax in the Centurion Lounge compared to the Sky Club due to the more extensive offerings.
Effective February 1, 2025: Eligible Platinum Card Members will receive 10 Visits per Eligible Platinum Card per year to the Delta Sky Club or to Grab and Go when traveling on a same-day Delta-operated flight.
Additionally, Delta SkyMiles® Reserve American Express Card and Delta SkyMiles® Reserve Business American Express cardmembers (when flying Delta on a ticket paid for with an eligible Amex card) can access the Centurion Lounge.
Since Atlanta is Delta's largest hub , there will almost certainly be a plethora of Amex Platinum and Delta Reserve cardmembers passing through the airport — and eligible to use the lounge.
Who's No. 1? Atlanta knocked out as world's busiest airport as pandemic shuffles 2020 rankings
Time will tell if the new space will be large enough to handle the passenger volume that passes through the nation's busiest airport. (Atlanta was temporarily unseated as the country's busiest airport during the pandemic due to airline schedule adjustments.) But, kudos to Amex for making the space as large as it can to handle the crowds.
While Amex is just now confirming the move, this Centurion Lounge has been in the works since (at least) the middle of last year. The finance committee of the Atlanta City Council reviewed a proposed ten-year lease to American Express for a dedicated lounge space at the airport in June 2021.
As part of the deal, Amex is responsible for building, constructing and maintaining the Centurion Lounge. The issuer will receive two five-year lease renewal options at the city's discretion.
Get the latest travel news by signing up for TPG's free daily newsletter .
The airport currently only has one lounge ( The Club in the international terminal ) that's open to passengers flying on any airline. There are currently nine Delta Sky Clubs, one American Admirals Club and one United Club at ATL , but you must be flying on those carriers or their partners to access those lounges.
With an Amex Centurion Lounge, the airport will offer a more premium experience to travelers flying with any airline.
Atlanta isn't the only airport with a new Centurion Lounge in the works. A new outpost is coming to Washington's Reagan National Airport , while expansions are underway in San Francisco and Seattle .

American Express Centurion Lounge now open in Atlanta airport
American express centurion lounge opens at atlanta airport.
The new American Express Centurion Lounge is opening Feb. 14 at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. It is the largest in the network, spanning nearly 26,000 square feet, and it can accommodate about 500 people.
ATLANTA - It is a Valentine's Day gift for travelers at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, as the long-awaited American Express Centurion Lounge opens near gate E-11.
"It's designed to help business travelers be more efficient. There are lovely workstations," said Audrey Hendley, President of American Express Travel. "Leisure travelers get a little bit more out of their space."
The Centurion Lounge is the largest in the network. Spanning nearly 26,000 square feet, it can handle about 500 people. Its design is inspired by Atlanta's reputation as "The City in the Forest." The lounge also features outdoor terraces.
American Express Centurion Lounge opens near gate E-11 at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport just in time for Valentine's Day travel.
Two bars will serve up craft cocktails and a buffet of food features a locally inspired menu from Atlanta-based chef Deborah VanTrece. On the menu, among other things, is mac and cheese and a black-eyed pea biryani.
"With Atlanta having such a diverse food scene, I wanted to capture that, but I still wanted to make sure we stay true to our southern roots," Chef VanTrece.
VanTrece owns three Atlanta restaurants and is a 2023 James Beard Award Semifinalist. Before turning to food, she was a flight attendant. She says this chance to serve travelers brings her full circle.
"I am super excited about this global stage that my food is on and the thousands and thousands of people coming through this airport that will be able to share that experience," she said.
Centurion Lounges, like other airport clubs, have suffered from overcrowding with waits to get in. American Express hopes the size of the new lounge helps limit that problem.
"We've built the biggest lounge in our network to accommodate the travelers and we'll see how it goes," Hendley said. "We continue to innovate, we continue to add more space."
The lounge will be open every day from 6 am to 11 pm.
Access is only for certain American Express cardholders. Cards that allow access include a Centurion Card, Platinum Card, The Business Platinum Card, Delta SkyMiles Reserve Card and Delta SkyMiles Reserve Business Card.
