Travel Plus provides wide-ranging cover for individuals, couples and families, giving you peace of mind and protection both before and during your holiday/trip.

You can choose from 2 levels of cover – Premier, and Premier Plus. Click here for details of the benefits and benefit limits which apply to each level of cover.

Why choose Travel Plus?

Travel Plus provides £10,000 of cancellation cover per person on a Premier Plus policy, and £5,000 per person on a Premier policy. These generous levels allow for luxury trips to be booked and paid for with full confidence. However, if more cancellation cover is required, call us on 02392 419 044 and we may be able to top up your cover on an additional policy.

A Travel Plus policy allows £10m medical  expenses. So, if the worst happens, you and your family are fully protected from life-changing levels of debt incurred by extremely high medical bills.

Experienced multi-lingual coordinators and medical specialists are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. They will guarantee your medical costs where necessary to do so. Liaise with the treating doctor, and arrange repatriation if medically necessary.

Cover for many medical conditions is included with Travel Plus policies. Any can be declared during the online quote process or over the phone with one of our specialist medical screening advisors. Please be aware that the medical conditions declared, and any further medical and health information required, will be used to calculate the premium due.

Children must be under the age of 18 (or 23 if still in full time education). If they are under the age of 18 years, they must have the permission of their parent and/or guardian and be accompanied by a responsible adult e.g. on a school trip.

Note: We do cover unaccompanied children.

Provides cover up to £1,000 (Premier) or £1,500 (Premier Plus) for theft, accidental damage, loss and unauthorised call/data use for your gadgets including handheld consumer electronic devices such as:

Mobile phones, tablets, iPads, kindles, satnavs, cameras, lenses, camcorders, smartwatches, smart glasses, head-mounted displays, handheld games consoles, portable DVD players, headphones, wireless speakers, MP3 players, iPods and laptop computers (laptops are not covered for accidental loss and there is no cover provided under this section for drones), purchased as new in the UK or, in the case of refurbished items sold with a minimum of 12 month warranty which should be evidenced on the evidence of ownership.

No cover is provided for any device that was purchased as second hand or used, that is not a refurbished device that was sold with a minimum 12-month warranty; any device that is no more than 48 months old at the start date of your trip and 18 months old if your gadget is a laptop.

(Automatically included on Annual Multi-trip Policies; additional premium required for Single Trip Policies).

  • Provides cover for ship to shore repatriation or on-board medical fees if you are ill or injured during your trip.
  • Missed embarkation following a delay in travel.
  • Cancellation of a scheduled port visit following a change in cruise itinerary.
  • Cabin confinement following your illness.
  • The hire or purchase of formal cruise attire if your attire is lost, damaged or stolen, or should your baggage be delayed for over 8 hours and unused shore excursions due to being confined to bed.

Cover if your journey or trip is disrupted, delayed, or cancelled due to a number of events including airport closure, a natural disaster affecting the ability to use your booked accommodation, or if your trip is cancelled or cut short because travel is prohibited.

(available as an option with Single Trip Premier and Premier Plus at an additional premium) – for those who enjoy skiing and snowboarding, you are covered for  winter sports activities .

Over 100 activities are automatically covered under Travel Plus with Activity Pack 1. Additional activities (Activity Packs 2 – 4) may be covered on payment of an additional premium.

Under some sections of cover an excess of £75 (Premier Cover) or £50 (Premier Plus Cover) is payable for each claim, per incident claimed for, under each applicable section of cover, by each insured person.

An excess applies under some sections of cover under this insurance, view the Table of Benefits. This means you will be responsible for paying the first part of any claim. All excesses shown for this policy are payable for each claim, per incident claimed for, under each applicable section of cover, by each insured person.

However, please note :

1.Subject to the provisions contained in 2. (below), if you have paid the additional premium for “Excess Waiver”, no excess will be payable except for claims under Cover Section N – Gadget Cover where the £50 excess will still apply.

2.Any excess imposed by us because an insured person has an existing medical condition which we have agreed in writing to cover following your call to the Medical Screening Service will still apply even if you have paid the additional premium for “Excess Waiver”.

Travel Plus provides cover if you or a member of your party travelling with you have to cancel due to having been taken ill with Coronavirus.

Cancellation cover,   emergency medical treatment, and related expenses  (including Event D under Section P – Cruise Cover) if you or a member of your party insured under the same policy are covered if taken ill with Coronavirus.

  • There is no cover if the insured travels against government or other regulatory authority advice i.e. the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO).

TravelPass days on us

What is travelpass.

TravelPass lets you use your domestic talk, text and data* in 210+ countries and destinations outside the US for a set daily fee. Calling within the country you're visiting and back to the US are both included with this plan. *High speed data applies for the first 2 GB/day with 3G speeds thereafter. If more than 50% of your talk, text or data usage in a 60-day period is in Canada or Mexico, use of those services in those countries may be removed or limited.

How will I be charged for TravelPass?

You're only charged on days you use your device in a TravelPass country :

  • $5/day in Mexico and Canada. Remember, calling, texting and data use in Mexico and Canada are included at no extra cost in our Unlimited mobile plans.
  • $10/day in other TravelPass countries.
  • If you travel to 2 countries within a single 24-hour session or have a layover in a different country on your way to your final destination, you're still only charged for the first session.
  • There's no charge when you're in the US.

What will I be charged if I call another country other than the one I'm visiting or the US?

You will be charged as per your International Long Distance plan. If you do not have one, you will be charged international long distance pay per minute rates.

How does TravelPass work?

After you add TravelPass to your line:

  • A 24-hour TravelPass session starts automatically when you use your device in a TravelPass country (e.g., make or answer a phone call, send a text or use data).
  • You must turn on cellular data or data roaming when you go to the TravelPass country to use Travel Pass.
  • App content refreshing (e.g., Weather apps, Fitness Tracker, etc.)
  • Syncing (e.g., with email)
  • Device or app software updates
  • 2 hours after the session starts we send you a text letting you know when your 24-hour TravelPass session ends. Using your device after that time will start a new session.

Which countries can I call with TravelPass?

With TravelPass, you can call within the country you're visiting and you can call back to the US. If you want to call a different country, add an International Long Distance Plan to your line in My Verizon website or the My Verizon app. If you don't add an international long distance plan you'll be charged international long distance pay per minute rates for these calls.

Can I use Wi-Fi calling with TravelPass?

Wi-Fi calling isn't included with TravelPass. Wi-Fi calling to a country other than the US is charged international long distance rates regardless of whether or not you have an international travel plan.

How do I add TravelPass to my line?

You can add TravelPass to your line by:

  • Visiting the Trip Planner in My Verizon.
  • Texting the word Travel to 4004.
  • For TravelPass to work, you must turn on cellular data or data roaming when you go to the TravelPass country.

Do I have to opt in every day to use TravelPass?

No, you don't need to opt in every day. Add TravelPass once and it stays on your line so you're all set for your next trip. You're only charged for the days that you use your device in a TravelPass country . There's no charge when you're in the US.

How do I get more high speed data once I've reached my limit?

TravelPass gives you high-speed data for the first 2 GB/day. After that, you'll have unlimited data at 3G speeds for the remainder of your TravelPass session. To get more high speed data after you use the daily 2 GB:

  • This additional data costs $5 in Mexico and Canada, $10 in all other TravelPass countries.
  • Reply speed to get the added high speed data.

You can buy additional 2 GB of high speed data multiple times during a single 24-hour session. Note: Additional high speed data sessions are not available in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Burkina Faso, Bangladesh, Cyprus, Faroe Islands, Gabon, Georgia, Gibraltar, Greenland, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Kyrgyzstan, Monaco, Mongolia, Mozambique, Pakistan, French Polynesia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan.

How do I get TravelPass days on us?

You get TravelPass days on us when you have:

  • 5G Get More*, 5G Do More* – Get a TravelPass day each month.
  • Verizon Visa Card – You get 2 TravelPass days per calendar year if you apply and are approved for the Verizon Visa Card.

*No longer available to add to your account.

Can I see how many TravelPass days I have?

All of your TravelPass days are stored in your TravelPass bank. To view your TravelPass bank:

  • In the My Verizon app, tap the Menu icon in the top left corner of the screen.
  • Tap Verizon Up .
  • Scroll down to Manage your TravelPass days.

You’ll see the number of TravelPass days you have. You can tap Manage to see the expiration dates of each of your TravelPass days and/or transfer* them to another eligible line on your account. *TravelPass days earned with 5G Get More or 5G Do More phone plans can't be transferred to other lines.

How do I use my TravelPass days?

The TravelPass days assigned to your line are automatically used when you have TravelPass active on your line and travel outside the US to a TravelPass country. When you arrive at your international destination, you receive a text message telling you how many TravelPass days you have. Once all your TravelPass days are used, the normal TravelPass daily fee will be applied. Note: TravelPass days aren't eligible for use on cruise ships .

Can I transfer my TravelPass days to another line on my account?

TravelPass days you get through the Verizon Visa Card can be transferred to another eligible line on the account. The Account Owner or Account Manager can make the transfer through the My Verizon app:

  • Go to your TravelPass bank in the My Verizon app.
  • Tap Manage .
  • Tap Reassign next to the TravelPass day you want to transfer to another line.
  • Select the eligible line you want to reassign the TravelPass day to.

The TravelPass day is now assigned to that line. Note:

  • TravelPass days you receive from your Verizon Visa Card won't automatically be assigned. You can view them and assign them on the Use Rewards tab of the Verizon Up screen in the My Verizon app.
  • TravelPass days earned with 5G Get More* or 5G Do More* phone plans can't be transferred to other lines.

Do my TravelPass days expire?

Here's when your TravelPass days expire:

  • Verizon Visa Card: TravelPass days expire at the end of the calendar year.
  • 5G Get More* and 5G Do More* TravelPass days expire 12 months after you receive them.

What does our Travel Pack cover?

Eligibility criteria

To apply for cover, you’ll need to:

  • Live in the UK for at least 183 days a year
  • Be registered with a UK doctor.

Who’s covered

If you’re eligible for travel insurance, Aviva will cover:

  • You and your partner who lives with you up to the age of 79 at the start of your trip
  • Your children (including step- and foster children) who travel with you and are under 23.

If you’re eligible for RAC breakdown cover, our providers will cover:

  • You, as the pack holder
  • Anyone who lives at the same address as you, if you add them to your cover when you buy your pack.

We made some changes to our Travel Plus Pack terms and conditions on 24 April 2023. If you bought your pack before this date, your terms and conditions haven’t changed and you can find them in ‘Statements and documents’ in the Barclays app.

What’s covered

Multi-trip travel insurance underwritten by Aviva Insurance Limited. You’ll get:

Trips abroad and in the UK for up to 31 days. For UK trips, you’ll need to be away from home for at least two consecutive nights in pre-booked holiday accommodation

Winter sports, cruises and business trips outside the UK for non-manual work, like meetings and conferences 

Up to £10 million worth of emergency medical treatment for sudden illness or injuries

Up to £10,000 per person for cancelled trips if you need to come home early 

Unexpected travel costs – up to £10,000 for additional travel and accommodation costs if your plans are disrupted, and up to £250 if your pre-booked transport is delayed for longer than 12 hours

Protection for your belongings – up to £1,500 if your personal belongings are lost, stolen or damaged during your trip.

What’s not covered

Travel delays where your travel is delayed by less than 12 hours

Costs you can recover from your travel or accommodation provider, your debit or credit card company, PayPal, ABTA, ATOL or similar organisations

Any incident that happens after 31 days of your holiday, unless you have a longer trip upgrade 

Anything that already happened before you bought this pack or booked your trip (whichever is later). For example, an airport strike that's been reported in the media

Any claim if you don’t follow the advice of local authorities

Claims if you travel against the advice of a doctor

Travels to get medical advice or treatment

Trips if you’re travelling with a terminal prognosis 

Claims for cancellation or coming home early if you travel against advice or measures that were already announced when you bought your pack or booked your trip (whichever is later).

Optional 12-month upgrades

For an extra one-off fee, you could get a: 

Longer trip upgrade

Designed for trips longer than 31 days. This covers the entire trip for up to 120 days. You’ll need to buy this as soon as you book the trip.

Pre-existing conditions upgrade

We now cover more pre-existing medical conditions, some for free. You can add cover for other family members too. If you have a valid upgrade, you’ll be covered automatically for any new conditions that occur over 12 months. We’ll give you an upgrade quote when you buy your pack. This will be valid for 30 days, so you can decide if you want to buy the upgrade.
