Dangerous woman: Ariana Grande to perform in Manila in August
Ariana Grande (along with her famous ponytail) is coming back to the Philippines on Aug 21 for her “Dangerous Woman Tour,” her third concert tour since she started her musical career.
The 23-year-old American pop star will be performing at the Mall of Asia Arena, where she also had a one-night performance in 2015. According to her website, the tour will take her through Europe, Latin America, Australia, and Asia.
Concert organizers MMI Live , who also brought Coldplay’s A Head Full of Dreams tour to Manila, will release details of Ariana’s show soon.
The petite star recently lent her powerful vocal chords to Beauty and the Beast’s titular theme. She started her career at Nickelodeon when she was just 13 years old. She has received numerous musical awards and four Grammy nominations.
The announcement of Ariana’s concert comes a day after Ed Sheeran’s concert made it to the news.

Manila was so into Ariana Grande during her ‘Dangerous Woman’ concert
- 24 August, 2017
Despite the announcement that the rest of her Dangerous Woman Tour will be cancelled after the tragic Manchester attack in London, Ariana Grande decided to push through with her tour for her “Arianators” all over the world.
Last August 21, the award-winning American singer was back in the country for the much-awaited Manila leg of her world tour, two years after her “The Honeymoon Tour.” Ari, as her fans call her, effortlessly belted some of her chart-topping hits even though she said she wasn’t feeling well that day.
She proved that no sickness can stop her from owning the night with a 23-song setlist. Ariana was even cycling while wearing high heels during the performance of her popular collab with Nicki Minaj “Side to Side,”–a “dangerous woman” indeed!

It’s exactly two years ago when pop chanteuse Ariana Grande “bang-banged” Manila by staging the Philippine leg of The Honeymoon Tour where she performed the hits culled from her second studio album, My Everything (2014), and paid tribute to Whitney Houston and Madonna.
After winning the hearts of people around the world by returning to the stage just three weeks after a suicide bomber attacked her concert in Manchester in May, the petite millennial Mariah Carey is back in Manila, more polished, mature and experienced, to treat local fans with her Dangerous Woman World Tour.
The 24-year-old pop princess is arriving today from Bangkok via her private jet for a concert tomorrow at the Mall of Asia Arena.
While security details have not been specified as of this writing, they are expected to be similar to that of Britney Spears’ Manila concert in June. That means, security will be extra tight even the PNP has already expressed their cooperation following the deadly attack after her concert in England in May.
At the venue, there will be no meet-and-greet (just what like happened in Seoul six day ago), and concertgoers will not be allowed to bring big cameras and big bags. But of course, fans are going to the “already sold-out” concert and will not be disappointed on what their idol will dish out.
As seen in the previous legs of the concert, Ariana is expected to go big on production. The enormity of the catwalk, end-to-end video wall and extravagant staging for the Dangerous Woman Tour can easily dwarf an artist of lesser caliber. But not Ariana, of course. She will perform against a stunning backdrop of lights and pyrotechnics perfectly set to the beat of her hit songs – but make no mistake, all eyes are on her.
While Ariana is known for her powerful vocals, the pop singer also proved that she’s got game when it comes to belting out high notes while being lifted, spinned and flipped. In this concert tour, she made dancing in 6-inch heels look effortless.
The 100-minute concert will feature more than 20 hits such as “Bad Decisions,” “Side to Side,” “Bang Bang,” “One Last Time,” “Problem,”and “Focus,” to name a few, has everything: from laser effects, and hydraulics, to pink balloons falling from the ceiling. A party bus will also be on site to give fans a taste of how to live like Ari while on tour.
Dangerous Woman Tour kicked off in Phoenix, Arizona, with concerts taking place in 84 cities in 28 countries. Since the announcement of her concert tour, Ariana fans’ excitement has been mounting on Twitter, with photos and videos of concert highlights and what they can expect from the multi-platinum young diva. After the Manila concert, Ari will be visiting Hong Kong, Taipei, and F1 Grand Prix in Singapore as part of the Asian leg of the concert series.

Ariana Grande’s Dangerous Woman Tour Earns $71 Million
Ariana Grande's Dangerous Woman Tour brought in $71 million according to final numbers reported to Billboard Boxscore.
By Bob Allen
Pop star Ariana Grande heads up the latest tally of Hot Tours (see list below), based on final box office counts reported from her Dangerous Woman Tour, which wrapped in September.
Stretching over seven months, Grande’s world tour covered five continents during its run that ended with an overall gross topping $71 million. At 75 headlining performances worldwide, the overall number of sold tickets totaled just over 875,000.
The tour launched on February 3 and began with a trek through 36 cities in the U.S. and Canada through mid-April. The European leg that followed kicked off on May 8, but was postponed two weeks later after the terrorist attack that occurred after her performance at Manchester Arena.
She returned to the road on June 4 and began the remainder of the European run with the One Love Manchester concert, held at the city’s Old Trafford Cricket Ground, benefiting the Manchester Arena’s bombing victims and families. The tour’s subsequent jaunts through markets in Latin America, Asia and Oceania continued through Sept. 21, wrapping with a finale held at Hong Kong’s AsiaWorld-Arena.
8 Times Ariana Grande Was a Strong LGBTQ Ally
During the Asian leg, Grande scored the tour’s highest-grossing engagement at Makuhari Messe, a Tokyo convention complex that hosted more than 52,000 fans this summer. The three-show run racked up $6.5 million in sold ticket revenue from concerts on Aug. 10, 12 and 13. A two-show stint at New York City’s Madison Square Garden claims the top gross among the trek’s North American dates. The Manhattan venue logged a gross of $2.9 million from 26,635 sold seats at sellouts on Feb. 23 and 24.
Sales from the Dangerous Woman Tour jumped by about 70 percent compared to Grande’s previous outing, 2015’s Honeymoon Tour, which logged sales in the $40 million range during an eight-month run. While in Asia, Grande will make a stop in Japan, Taiwan and Singapore, where she’ll be leading the entertainment lineup at this year’s Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix along side Duran Duran, OneRepublic and The Chainsmokers.
From the looks of her Asia and Oceania tours right now, with a gap to be filled in August, we say the rest of the fans in Southeast Asia can expect good news soon, knowing how successful her Honeymoon Tour was in Jakarta in 2015 and what a source has tipped us off about Bangkok .

Background [ ]
On July 7, 2016, Grande replied to a Twitter post that she's working on the tour dates. [1] On July 31, Grande replied to a Twitter post that she will likely announce the tour dates at the end of August. [2] The two opening acts were announced to be Little Mix and Victoria Monét .
The DW Tour Instagram account was created at the end of October 2016 to document the tour. Rehearsals fully began after the completion of Hairspray Live! in December and throughout January. Grande worked with Alfredo Flores , Hannah Lux Davis , and Jones Crow to create visuals for the tour. [3] [4] [5]
On February 27, 2017, Live Nation announced that BIA will be joining the tour as the opening act for the UK dates during the European leg of the tour. She is also opening in Scandinavia and Amsterdam. [6]
- Toulouse and Pignoli accompanied Grande on the tour.
- Grande wore many different hairstyles throughout the tour, as opposed to exclusively wearing her signature high pony. On select shows, she would wear her hair down, sometimes with mini space buns. During the show in Tulsa, she wore her bangs instead of clipping them back.
- When the first leg of the tour commenced, Grande expressed her gratitude to her fans on Instagram, leading to #ThankYouAriana to trend on Twitter the next day. [7]
- At select shows, Mac Miller performed " The Way " with Grande on stage during the interchangeable slot. He would also join her to perform " Dang! " on June 7, 2017.
- This is Grande's shortest arena tour, lasting seven months and 18 days
- Hannah Lux Davis directed all of the visuals used for the tour.
- On September 17, Lady Cultura, one of Grande's backup dancers, was fired after using a racial slur on her Instagram story. [8]
Stage design [ ]
In the Dangerous Woman Diaries series, Grande explained that the stage design she chose for the tour was like a blank canvas as the stage is entirely white. In fact, the stage is very different from the one featured in the Honeymoon Tour . Instead of using a traditional LED panel rectangular screen, Grande went with a different technology. The "screen" was in an inverted triangle shape, the shape of the screen varied following the size of the venue. A technology of projection was used and the screen was made of thousands of small strings, forming a curtain-like effect.
This permitted to have a less aggressive lighting coming from the screen and more options for the visuals. There was also a long T-shaped catwalk with pointy edges. The stage was equipped of several lifts on which the dancers and grande herself performed several songs such as " Bad Decisions ", " Side to Side " and " Knew Better/Forever Boy ". For the other legs, the lifts were switched to movable stairs. During " Greedy ", custom-made dollar bills confettis were thrown. The show also featured smoke and fire effects from the stage. The band performed behind the main screen at the beginning of the show and appeared on stage during the " Leave Me Lonely Interlude " on moving platforms.
