Erasure cancel the remaining dates of their “The Neon Tour”

Erasure have just announced the cancellation of their remaining “The Neon Tour”, citing “unexpected family circumstances beyond anyone’s control” as the reason.

“[…] we have had to make the extremely difficult decision to cancel the remaining stages of The Neon Tour and we will therefore no longer be playing our planned shows in the UK & Europe, South America or North America this year. Refunds are available at point of purchase. Vince and Andy are well and, although they are bitterly disappointed to be forced to cancel the rest of the tour, they would both like to send their sincere apologies to anyone affected by the cancellations. Thank you for your understanding and we look forward to being able to play to everyone again soon.” – Erasure

Leider mussten Erasure alle Konzerte ihrer Neon-Tour absagen . Davon sind auch die Shows in Deutschland betroffen.

Mit ihrem aktuellen Studioalbum „ The Neon“ sind Vince Clarke und Andy Bell wieder auf Tour. Ihre deutschen Fans müssen sich leider noch etwas gedulden: Wegen der Corona-Situation wurden die Konzerttermine auf Mai 2022 verschoben.

Erasure postpone US ‘The Neon Tour’ amid rising Omicron cases

Erasure have stalled the start of the US leg of their ‘The Neon Tour’. 

Andy Bell and Vince Clarke were set to head stateside for a string of shows throughout January/February in support of their 18th album of the same name, but have opted to put the brakes on their plans.

It’s not the first time the Always hitmakers have had to postpone their live dates over the past two years; most recently, they bumped a selection of European dates to May due to the pandemic. 

‘The Neon’ scored Erasure their highest charting UK album since 1994 release ‘I Say I Say I Say’.

In our review of ‘The Neon’,  Retro Pop  called the album “a masterclass in synth-pop”  and “a triumphant effort that ranks high in Erasure’s 35-year legacy”.

Erasure announces 24-date North American tour in support of ‘The Neon’ next year

Erasure today announced plans to follow up previously announced European concerts this fall with a 24-date North American tour early next year to support the duo’s 2020 album The Neon , a trek that’ll open Jan. 14 in Miami Beach and wrap up Feb. 27 in Las Vegas.

Tickets for the North American dates — listed below — go on sale Friday, June 25 — but there are a series of presales first, beginning with an Erasure newsletter subscriber presale on June 22, a Live Nation presale on June 23 and a local venue presale on June 24, according to the Mute Records.

Additionally, the label on July 30 will release The Neon Remixed on limited-edition double-colored vinyl and gatefold CD; preorders are now underway .

Erasure sind zurück: Nach ihrer restlos ausverkauften Tournee 2018 kommt die Band für fünf fulminante Arenashows zurück nach Deutschland und wird am 20. Mai 2022 in Berlin auftreten. Im Gepäck hat das legendäre britische Synth-Pop-Duo Songs aus ihrem achtzehntem Studioalbum „The Neon“ und eine Auswahl ihrer größten Hits.

Sie gelten als eines der weltweit erfolgreichsten Pop-Duos und sind bekannt für ihre außergewöhnlichen und spektakulären Live-Shows: Vince Clark und Andy Bell begeistern ihre Fans seit mehr als 35 Jahren. Mit "The Neon" begeben sich die Ikonen der elektronischen Popmusik bewusst zurück zu ihren Anfängen.

Corona: Ursprüngliche Termine mussten verschoben werden

Das Berlin-Konzert war für den 22. Oktober 2021 geplant, musste aber auf den 22. Mai 2022 in das Velodrom verschoben werden. Der Veranstalter wandte sich mit einem Statement an die Fans: "Aufgrund der aktuellen globalen, pandemischen Lage und der damit verbundenen mangelnden Planungsgrundlage für den Herbst, sehen sich leider auch Erasure gezwungen ihre Tournee zu verschieben."

Behalten die Tickets ihre Gültigkeit?

Ganz klar – ja. Auf der Veranstalterseite heißt es hierzu: "Bereits gekaufte Tickets bleiben gültig."

Wo wird Erasure auftreten?

Achtung: Das Konzert wurde vom ursprünglichen Veranstaltungsort (Max-Schmeling-Halle) in das Velodrom (Paul-Heyse-Straße 26 am S-Bhf. Landsberger Allee, 10407 Berlin) verschoben.

Gibt es noch Karten?

Ja, für das Berlin-Konzert von Erasure sind noch Karten erhältlich. Fans sollten sich allerdings beeilen. Tickets können auf der Internetseite der Veranstalter im Vorverkauf erworben werden (ab 52,00 Euro zzgl. Gebühren).

Wann geht es los?

Der Einlass startet am Freitag (20. Mai 2022) um 18.00 Uhr. Die Show beginnt gegen 20.00 Uhr.

Das Velodrom hat im Zuge der Covid-Pandemie eine Reihe von Präventivmaßnahmen eingeführt. Bitte informieren Sie sich rechtzeitig vor dem Besuch über die aktuellen Hygieneregeln.

Wie komme ich zum UFO/Velodrom?

Das Velodrom im Prenzlauer Berg liegt aus dem Gelände des Europasportpark Berlin und ist gut mit öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln zu erreichen. Es besteht ein direkter Zugang zum anliegenden S-Bahnhof Landsberger Allee. Der S-Bahnhof wird von den Ringbahnlinien S41 und S42 , der Linien S8 sowie der S85 bedient. Das Velodrom hat keine eigenen Besucherparkplätze. Für Autofahrer bietet sich "Park and Ride" an. Das kostenpflichtige Parkhaus Am Alexanderplatz ist durchgehend geöffnet und hat eine direkte Anbindung mit der Tram (M5 / M6 bis Haltestation Landsberger Allee) zum Velodrom.

Was muss ich beim Einlass beachten?

Nur Taschen, die kleiner als das Format DIN A4 (21,0 x 29,7 cm) sind, dürfen mitgebracht werden. Für Taschen und Rucksäcke, die unter das Verbot fallen, gibt es im Velodrom begrenzte Aufbewahrungsmöglichkeiten. Für die Aufbewahrung von Taschen und Rucksäcken wird eine Gebühr von 2 Euro fällig. Bei der Einlasskontrolle sind außerdem unter anderem Waffen jeder Art, sperrige und gefährliche Gegenstände Glasflaschen, Notebooks, Tablets, Stative, Selfie-Sticks, Audio- und Videorekorder, Kameras und Laserpointer nicht gestattet.

 The Neon er et sted, der lever i fantasien, som vi - du og jeg - virkeliggør. Det kan være en natklub, en butik, en by, en café, et land, et soveværelse, en restaurant, ethvert sted. Det er et sted med muligheder i varmt, glødende lys, og dette er musikken der tager dig dertil.

Pladen er skrevet og produceret af Erasure, og ved de indledende sessions blev Vince og Andy genforenet med en frisk optimisme og energi. Vince havde følt sig draget mod sine ældre maskiner, nogle af dem har han haft siden deres tidlige år sammen: “There’s a warmth to them. There’s also a real beauty in putting different analogue synthesisers together, too – a Pro-One, a Sequential Circuits, a Moog – they give this lovely sheen, ” forklarer han.

Med inspiration fra popmusik gennem årtier, fra bands, som Andy elskede som barn frem til i dag, forklarer han: “It was about refreshing my love – hopefully our love – of great pop. I want kids now to hear these songs! I wanted to recharge that feeling that pop can come from anyone.”

Erasure (created in 1985) is a synthpop duo from London, England. Made up of singer and songwriter Andy Bell and Keyboardist Vince Clarke.

Erasure's first three singles did not as well as had been hoped after they were released. They received some recognition in some European countries, but it wasn't until the release of "Sometimes" that they had any acknowledgement they deserved.

The duo first got attention for their music with their debut single "Who Needs Love Like That", following on from their fourth single release of "Sometimes".

Together they became hugely successful in the mid 1990s and made it to the UK Singles Chart.They received 24 Top 40 hits in the UK in a row, as well as 3 Top 20 hits in the US. These included their songs "A Little Respect", "Chains of Love" and "Always".

Erasure have sold over 25 million albums internationally and are very well known within the LGBT community, as singer Andy Bell has become some what of a gay icon over the years.

In 2009 a collection of Erasure's first 40 hits along with a remix of the "Always" single by Jeremy Wheatley was released. Later on the same year they released an album of their classic remixes called "Erasure Club".

In May 2014, the duo announced their 16th studio album was due to be released, named "The Violent Flame". It gave them their first Top 20 album since the release of "Other People's Songs" in 2003.

Live reviews

It is hard for me to write an unbiased review of Erasure "live". As I love the group so much. And have done so for MANY years (nearly 30 now!) BUT, they have done numerous tracks, over those years, that I have not been too fond of. So, I think I still have my head (and ears) screwed on, in regards to not being "blinded" by LOVE for a group. So ..... Erasure "live" = FANTASTIC!! The songs everyone knows are all there "A little respect", "Stop!", "Chains of love" etc. Along with new ones "Elevation", "Reason" and "Sacred". The underlying theme of the show would, imo, be DANCE. Erasure want you to get up and dance. Many of the old tracks were presented in remix form or new/updated dance versions. And there wasn't a single one that I thought sounded out of place. At the end of the show everyone, who could, was up and dancing. Andy quips between songs were as fun/daft as usual. And it was a brilliant performance all round. From Andy and Vince. As well as Valerie and Emma (backing singers). This is a show I would take ANYONE to. And recommend to EVERYONE. It's fun. It's singalong. It's dancealong. It puts a smile on your face and makes you feel good for a couple of hours. Who could ask for more? Certainly not me :)

80s English pop-rock staples Erasure are still performing live shows for fans both old and new. Frontman Andy Bell's vocal range still packs a powerful punch, hitting and sustaining all the high notes. In addition to still sounding amazing, Bell and music partner Vince Clarke both look fit in appearance and ready to rock. Andy Bell is known to switch things up even more by wearing short shorts, high heels, or dresses during his stage performances. These antics draw cheers from the crowd, and more impressively do not distract from the main focus- the music.

Fans cheer when they hear familiar songs, and sing along. It's clear that Erasure still can captivate and enchant their audience. Fans consistently clap and scream after each song, particularly known hits such as "A Little Respect", "O L'Amour", and "Chains of Love". Even newer songs, such as 2010s "Always" perk up fans' ears and prove that Erasure is a band that does not just live off their past. They are just as relevant, catchy, and powerful in the 2000s as they were in the 1980s.

Andy and Vince were in fine form for their final stop of their North American 2014 tour showcasing their newest album, The Violet Flame. The opening act Superhumanoids songs were enjoyable, if short, and put us in a good mood for the main act. These two guys have given me more consistent pleasure over more than 30 years than any of my lovers. I adore the intricacies of Vince's rhythms and harmonies and that oh so welcome preponderance of major chords, and floor rumbling bass notes. We were on our feet dancing for at least half the concert, even Andy's ballads are eminently danceable. I wasn't impressed that Andy had occasion to wake up the security team, but impressed that he did, and that he followed up with a statement that "this is a violence free zone" at the end of the song. In all a triumphant finish to the tour.

Great as always, but the show was really short. Encore was one song, then the house lights. Never experienced that from them before. Andy was moving really well, so don’t think it was his hips. What I think it may have been, was it being hotter than hell in the venue. We were in the front row of the second balcony (Moore Theater, Seattle) and it was beyond hot, with people stripping their shirts off, and all of us a dripping sweaty, mess.

I love Erasure and they never disappoint. Other than I would prefer general admission instead of seats, the group always performs the best of their songs. They usually come for more than one night, which is cool. I try to see them every time they come. The crowd is also great and friendly. It's always like a big dance party when Erasure comes to town.

As ever, an utterly brilliant performance not dampened by the venue being evacuated after just 3 songs due to fire. Impromptu sing song on the street outside the O2 then back in to a storming set of all of the old favourites and tracks from the new album.

First saw them on The Innocents tour and will be back for the next one !

Saw erasure at the apollo in Manchester. I saw them when they suported robbie williams and before that back in 1989 at g-mex. I wasnt dissaoointed. Brilliant

night great atmosphere and the cover of blondies "atomic" blew me away. If you are soon to see them, get your party mojo on and have a ball.

1st concert I ever saw was Erasure Wild tour as a 15 year old. I took my daughter who is about to turn 16 as an early bday present to her and it did not disappoint. This show was amazing and so glad we could see any and vince in person, thanks guys!

Fantastic evening, venue was amazing and Andy Bell didn’t miss a beat.....truly first class amazing night....ERASURE was fantastic.

We are very sorry to announce that, due to unexpected family circumstances beyond anyone’s control, we have had to make the extremely difficult decision to cancel the remaining stages of The Neon Tour and we will therefore no longer be playing our planned shows in the UK & Europe, South America or North America this year. Erasure Announce 2022 North American Tour

With support from Bag Raiders

Having already announced plans to bring unadulterated joy to the Europe, synthpop progenitors Erasure  have unveiled a 2022 North American tour.

Like its earlier European leg, this tour comes in support of the duo’s 2020 LP  The Neon , as well as their upcoming July 30th remix record The Neon Remixed .  The 24-date trek kicks off in January, and each show will be aided by a DJ set from Bag Raiders.

With this recent run of new music, keyboardist Vince Clarke and singer Andy Bell have been on a mission of good vibes. “Our music is always a reflection of how we’re feeling,” Clarke said in a statement. “Andy was in a good place spiritually, and so was I – really good places in our minds. You can hear that.”

Bell added, “I want kids now to hear these songs! I wanted to recharge that feeling that pop can come from anyone.”
