Galantis (formed in 2012) is a Swedish big room, progressive and electro house music production and songwriting duo, hailing from Stockholm, Sweden.

The high energy electronic dance music of Galantis is crafted by the renowned and respected hands of Christian “Bloodshy” Karlsson, and “Linus Eklöw. Karlsson is known as one third of the electronic group Miike Snow, and one half on the Grammy winning pop production team Bloodshy & Avant – known for Christina Milian’s debut, and Britney Spear’s “Toxic”. In addition, Linus Eklöw found success as the dance music producer Style of Eye, writing and producing hits for the likes of Icona Pop, as well as producing a steady stream of original material.

The pair met in 2007 in Stockholm, and spent the subsequent years sending music back and forth to one another, which resulted in the likes of the Style of Eye remix of the Miike Snow hit “Animal”. It wasn’t until 2012 however, and the formation of Galantis, that the two really found their creative prowess with the release of the songs “Raveheart” and “Tank”. In 2013 the duo signed with Atlantic Records’ dance imprint Big Beat Records, and in November released their official debut single “Smile”. The single was well-received in the blogosphere and earned a number of remixes from the likes of Kaskade. The subsequent single “You”, featuring an enamouring piano and vocal hook, proved to be the second from the duo’s debut EP “Galantis” release in April 2014.

Galantis made their debut performance two weeks after the EP release at the endlessly popular Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, where the pair played an hour-long set. The duo subsequently embarked on a tour of the U.S., and released the single “Gold Dust” in February 2015.

Live reviews

The Swedish electronic dance music group, Galantis blew me away before they even came out on stage. The lights went out, and the stage filled with smoke and crazy lights, before the duo came on stage with their arms in the air. Witnessing some of their first ever live performances was something really incredible, ad their electric energy was incredibly contagious and they had everyone singing along with their samples and dancing to their incredible beats straight away.

Something that I wasn’t expecting that I was pleasantly surprised by, was their live production of music over their pre-recorded mixes. They both had either synths, or electronic drum pads, and were rocking it simultaneously with their DJing throughout the show. It’s always great to see DJs performing music live and showcasing their talent. They were both great at getting the audience going, and had microphone that they were holding out in their samples, such as the track ‘You’, where they got everyone singing along. They played a great selection of tracks, and mixes up their really heavy EDM with tracks with pop samples in them to keep everyone engaged. The show was pretty long, I’d say about 2 hours, and the guys were dancing along, and 100% dedicated to their music from start to finish, they were great performers as well as talented musicians.

Sweden has a history with big room and electro dance music and it would seem the shining star of the market for 2015 are Christian Karlsson and Linus Eklöw better known as Galantis. Should you have switched on a radio this year you are unlikely to have escaped the infectiousness of 'Runaway (You & I)' and 'Peanut Butter Jelly'. Galantis are not a new concept though as the duo have been recording, releasing and most importantly performing live for over two years.

They understand the conventions of live performance and most importantly how to apply them to their genre. Dance music is inherently difficult to make interesting as you do not have instrumentalists to engage the audience yet Galantis manage with an impressive visual display and momentous electro music. The mix seems to have a life of its own as it moves along, lifting and dropping much to the delight of the energetic audience. When the hits such as 'You' are played between remixes and dance floor fillers the crowd roars as the two DJs raise their arms signalling for them to lose their minds. Wait for the album and watch this burning flame be fuelled ever more brighter.

The venue for this show was absolutely awful. We understood from the set list that Galantis would go on at 3:30A and the show started at 2:30A. I could not get into the venue once the show started as the security guards told me it was overcrowded and was a fire hazard if they let anymore people in.

No representative from Songkick was present according to them, so I could not speak with anyone about this situation during the concert. Security staff were also rude and were not willing to speak with me when I addressed the situation.

As a result, I didn't end up seeing the show and left. I was extremely frustrated and will never buy tickets from Songkick or go to this venue again.

I believe I should be fully refunded for the tickets as this is Songkick's responsibility for overselling the venue and creating a dangerous situation for guests of the performance.

The event staff was VERY disorganized. It took us nearly an hour to get into the event because staff kept repeating that one line was 21+ to drink while the other wasn't. Those 18-20yo could skip the long drink line for ID bands and enter the venue. By the time we got to the front we saw that there was a booth inside for 21+ wrist bands and the separate long line outside was COMPLETELY unnecessary. We didn't get inside the venue until 9:45pm. To make matters worse, the line for the bar was ridiculously long. Needless to say, we missed the first 15 mins of Galantis' set.

In between the opener and Galantis, no music was played which was completely ridiculous.

As for Galantis' actual set-- the show was amazing! The lasers, visuals, & confetti drops were insane. The music/mix/sound was incredible. They did not disappoint overall.

Doors opened at 10, but we had to sit through 4 opening acts until Galantis finally came on. Your typical club scene, and the typical same beat club music from the opening acts. The place got way too packed. It was like the venue only cared about stuffing as many people inside with no regard to safety or fire hazards.

When Galantis finally came on, because of the openers essentially playing the same old crap, the mood was dead.

Galantis however had an amazing set. It was actual electronic music and not the same club beat repeated but in different variation. Unfortunately for ravers and people like me, there was absolutely no space to shuffle, which was a huge let down. It had that old school warehouse rave feeling which added to the atmosphere when Galantis played.

Overall I'd give it a 7/10

Galantis was amazing! Great atmosphere, great supporting acts too. There was not one person stood still, everybody was moving in some way. Great mixture of people aswell, so many ethnic groups and cultural vibes going around. It was a really pleasant place to be and a great venue too if I might add. It was the nicest rave I’ve ever been too

Good show. not as spectacular as last year at EchoStage. DJs seemed a bit subdued. The stage set up, lights and extra effects like confetti seems very budget. I was hoping for a bit more.

I had a VIP table front row pretty close to the stage and i was surprised it wasn't as intense. I thought they would have even more fans and do something new.

rtack7’s profile image

Amazing! Most DJ sets I see are mostly just that: a set. This was a nice mixture of a set AND a show. They had a good amount of theatrics, fantastic energy, and of course the music was excellent. A lot of really special moments during the show I won't soon forget! I will see them again when they visit my area again.

Absolutely amazing show... the CGI was just mesmerizing and the energy was off the charts! I brought my 15 year old daughter and she is chatting is up on Instagram all the next day. They are so talented and I was truly impressed and that is coming from a true Soundfactory graduate.. lol. Don't miss these guys.

About Galantis

Setting a new standard for songwriting in dance music, Galantis is a collaborative project between Christian Karlsson (aka Bloodshy) and Linus Eklöw (aka Stye of Eye). Embraced early on by influential DJs like Tiesto, Kaskade, Diplo and Pete Tong, and now festival staples, the powerful live act performed a monumental first-ever live performance at Coachella in 2014, and has dominated festival stages ever since. Their debut album 'Pharmacy' (2015) is an anthemic, transcendent, 13-track feel good record that was written and recorded in Los Angeles and on a tiny archipelago near Stockholm, Sweden. The album also spawned the Platinum and Gold-certified worldwide hit singles 'Runaway (U & I)’ & ‘Peanut Butter Jelly’.

Hannah Boleyn joins Galantis on new single “Little Bit Yours”

galantis tour uk

Internationally-acclaimed dance music powerhouse Galantis has joined forces with UK singer/songwriter Hannah Boleyn on new track “Little Bit Yours” – available now via Big Beat Records.

Channeling a classic house sound that shares the enigmatic characteristics of your favorite 90s dance anthem, Boleyn ‘s ethereal Kate Bush-akin vocals (most recently heard on top 15 UK single “ DNA [Loving You] ” with Billy Gilles ) glide effortlessly over a mesmerizing, house groove, making “Little Bit Yours” a welcome return to Galantis ‘ early European dance roots.

“Hannah Boleyn is a brilliant songwriter with a voice that is as gorgeous as it is captivating! I was absolutely thrilled to collaborate with her on this timeless and classic 90s-infused piece of house music.” – Christian Karlsson (Galantis)

galantis tour uk

“It is a joy getting to work with someone whose music I’ve been a genuine fan of for so long. I love the way Christian can make a record that feels fun and exciting whilst also giving the vocal space to shine.

For me that’s what is special about records like ‘Runaway (U & I)’ and ‘Heartbreak Anthem’ and it feels like Christian has created that same magic with ‘Little Bit Yours’. ‘Little Bit Yours’ is saying ‘there are two sides to me and if you want me, you have to love both” – Hannah Boleyn

Last month saw the release of “ Dreamteam ” with Neon Trees , continuing to usher in the hotly anticipated fourth Galantis album era which will mark the first full-length since 2020’s Church .

The album is due to also feature recently released tracks “ Koala ” which was declared “another dance hit” by American Songwriter and “ BANG BANG! (My Neurodivergent Anthem) ” which Rolling Stone praised as “an upbeat festival-ready banger.” The latter also exclusively premiered alongside a candid statement from Christian Karlsson revealing his ADHD diagnosis and neurodivergent journey.

A college is hosting a sold-out Taylor Swift masterclass for parents ahead of the star's UK tour

  • A UK college is running a crash course on all things Taylor Swift ahead of her UK tour.
  • The one-day course is aimed at parents and plus ones of Swifties.
  • The college says the course will provide "the full Love Story on all things Eras Tour."

Insider Today

A college in Scotland is running a crash course on all things Taylor Swift ahead of the pop star's UK leg of her Eras Tour .

The one-day course held by Glasgow Clyde College is aimed at parents and plus-ones of Swifties set to attend the singer's three-night stopover in Edinburgh.

The college says the course will provide "the full Love Story on all things Eras Tour to help them have the best night of their lives."

"From set lists and crowd chants to need-to-know information on each Era, the course, which is being delivered by a Taylor Swift expert, will give members of the public a whistle-stop lesson that'll leave them ready for the gig," the college says on its website.

The Eras Tour, which has already become the highest-grossing tour of all time, pays tribute to Swift's first 10 studio albums and the unique styles and staging that accompanied them.

The release of the singer's 11th studio album, "The Tortured Poets Department," in April could mean that the setlist will change from previous legs of the tour, however — but the college seems likely to have that covered.

Glasgow Clyde College assistant principal Robert Anderson told local media outlet The Scotsman : "Taylor mania doesn't seem to be slowing anytime soon, and we expect it'll reach its peak here in Scotland in June. We understand that not everyone will be up to speed on all things Taylor and might not get the full Eras experience," he said.

Related stories

"That's why we created this masterclass - to prepare those who'll be heading along to the gig with their superfan kids, friends or partners to ensure they have just as memorable a time," he continued. "Taylor's gigs are known for being so well crafted, and unless you're a fan yourself, you might miss some of the iconic moments."

The course is due to be held on May 7, one month before Swift kicks off her UK tour.

European cities could benefit from Swift's tour

Swift is taking her Eras Tour to 18 European cities this summer , and many are hoping Swifties will splash the cash as they arrive.

The tour has already boosted the US, Singaporean, and Australian economies, with eager fans spending big on things like travel, accommodation, and merchandise.

While the UK and the rest of Europe have yet to feel the full effect of Swift's presence, the price of hotels and short-term rental homes across Scotland have shot up as opportunistic hoteliers and rental hosts have sought to take advantage of increased demand for accommodation.

Around 200,000 people are expected to attend across the star's three performances at Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh.

Marc Crothall, chief executive of the Scottish Tourism Alliance, told Business Insider that there would be a "ripple effect" from the shows that will be felt across Scotland.

"We're a small country. It's important that those who are coming from further afield, don't just go straight back to where they came from," he said, adding that they would hopefully go and visit some other parts of Scotland.

Billie Eilish has announced a new tour and will be coming to the UK next summer.

The 22-year year old 's show is named after her latest album - Hit Me Hard And Soft - and will kick off in North America in September.

It will then head to Australia in February 2025, before travelling across Europe and arriving in the UK on 7 July when she will perform for two nights in Glasgow, at OVO Hydro.

Eilish will then play six nights at the O2 in London, and four nights at the new Co-Op Live arena in Manchester - a venue that has been beset with problems as it prepares to open to the public.

The singer will then play two gigs in Dublin, Ireland, at the 3Arena.

A vocal environmentalist, fans are being encouraged to take "sustainable transport" during the tour, which will also feature "eco-villages" and encourage plant-based food options.

She's not released any singles in advance, encouraging fans to listen "in one go".

Mike + The Mechanics to “play all the hits and drift into Genesis” on 2025 UK tour

The band, led by Genesis' Mike Rutherford, will play 30 dates across the country in early 2025

Mike Rutherford

Mike + The Mechanics have announced a 2025 UK tour, on which they will “play all the hits” as well as “drift into Genesis ”. See all the dates below.

The shows, titled ‘Looking Back – Living The Years 2025 Tour’, will kick off on March 3 next year in Glasgow’s Royal Concert Hall, and run for a total of 30 nights, concluding at London’s Royal Albert Hall on April 14. You can get your tickets here .

The band were formed in 1985 by guitarist and bassist Mike Rutherford as a side project to Genesis, and originally featured vocalists Paul Young and Paul Carrack. After achieving commercial success, they separated in 2004 after Young’s death, before reuniting in 2010 with new vocalists Andrew Roachford and Tim Howar.

Speaking about the new tour, Rutherford has said: “It’s exciting to announce that we will be touring The Mechanics again. Getting back on the road with the guys last year was a real pleasure. Even though it had been four years, we slotted back into the old ways, the old jokes and the camaraderie like it had been a day!”

Referring to their 2023 ‘Refuelled!’ tour, he added: “We had so much fun on the last tour and the audiences were so gracious and warm, when we played the final show in Dusseldorf we all agreed then that we wanted to do it all again. We can’t wait to see you.”

Mike + The Mechanics will play:

MARCH 3 – Glasgow, Royal Concert Hall 4 – Aberdeen, Music Hall 5 – Edinburgh, Usher Hall 7 – Perth, Concert Hall 8 – Stockton, Globe Theatre 9 – Manchester, Bridgewater Hall 11 – Nottingham, Royal Concert Hall 12 – Stoke, Victoria Halls 14 – York, Barbican 15 – Ipswich, Regent Theatre 17 – Cambridge, Corn Exchange 18 – Sheffield, City Hall 20 – Halifax, Victoria Halls 22 – Gateshead, Glasshouse 23 – Llandudno, Venue Cymru 24 – Liverpool, Philharmonic Hall 26 – Leicester, De Montfort Hall 27 – Basingstoke, Anvil 29 – Bournemouth, Pavilion 30 – Portsmouth, Guildhall

Recommended

APRIL 1 – Southend, Cliffs Pavilion 2 – Northampton, Derngate 4 – Birmingham, Symphony Hall 5 – Eastbourne, Congress Theatre 6 – Oxford, New Theatre 8 – Guildford, G Live 10 – Bristol, Beacon 11 – Swansea, Arena 12 – Plymouth, Pavilions 14 – London, Royal Albert Hall

Genesis played their last show together in March 2022 at London’s O2 Arena. Rutherford later described the gig as “bizarre” and “emotional” .

“It was nice afterwards when everybody, including Peter [Gabriel] and Richard McPhail [tour manager from the seventies], were together in the dressing room,” he said. “Apart from that we kept backstage closed off.”

“But the actual show felt bizarre. I was kind of okay until I saw on my setlist that there were just four songs left. Seeing that in print made me emotional, but having got through all of the problems with Covid, it felt very good to see things through.”

Playing 23 tracks in total, Genesis ran through a long list of their biggest hits including ‘I Can’t Dance’, ‘Mama’, ‘Turn It On Again’, ‘No Son Of Mine’ and ‘Invisible Touch’.

Before playing ‘Land Of Confusion’, Phil Collins addressed the crowd and announced that it would be Genesis’ final show. As the crowd applauded the band, Collins sat looking thoughtful, seemingly taking in the fact that it was the last hoorah. He then quipped: “After tonight we’ve all gotta get real jobs.”

Collins performed that show in a wheelchair, after a period of health problems relating to damaged vertebrae in his neck.

Rutherford later offered an update on Collins’ condition , saying: “He’s much more immobile than he used to be, which is a shame, but at the tour, he was in good spirits.

“He’s fine now at home, enjoying life. He’s worked so hard over the years. I think he’s enjoying his time at home.”
