During his marriage to Katie, Tom absolutely gushed about baby Suri. “My whole life I always wanted to be a father,” the actor shared in the family’s 2006 VF profile. Tom also has two adopted children from his previous marriage to  Nicole Kidman — a son named Connor , 26, and daughter named Isabella , 28. Although Tom shared in 2006 that he looked forward to Connor, Isabella, and Suri growing close, his divorce from Katie led to those relationships seemingly fraying.

“I always said to myself that my children would be able to depend on me and I would always be there for them and love them—that I’d never make a promise to my kids that I couldn’t keep. I’m not one of those people who believe you can spoil a child with too much love. You can never give a child too much love. The atmosphere around the world is…terrifying,” she expressed. “Doesn’t every parent [worry about that]?”

The 17-year-old was seen in New York's Soho while walking with some friends.

Suri is the daughter of actors Tom Cruise , 60, and Katie Holmes , 44.

She was wearing a black tank top and a knee-length denim skirt which gave early 2000s vibes.

She paired it with several silver bracelets and a black string choker necklace that had a large silver flower on it.

On her feet were black sneakers and tall white socks that were scrunched down at her ankles.

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes’ daughter has made her on-screen debut.

Holmes, 43, directed and stars in the newly released movie Alone Together , and her daughter Suri Cruise, 16, joined her on the big screen.

“I always want the highest level of talent,” Holmes said in an interview with Yahoo! Entertainment . “So, I asked her [Suri].

“She’s very, very talented. She said she would do it, and she recorded it, and I let her do her thing. That’s the way I direct in general. It’s like, ‘This is what I think we all want – go do your thing.’”

In the movie, Suri sings a cover of Blue Moon , which plays during the opening credits of the film. Holmes told the outlet this will not be her daughter’s only on-screen singing gig, Fox News reports.

“She actually did sing in Rare Objects , which is the film we did last [autumn],” Holmes said. “Other than that, she’s a 16-year-old kid doing high school.”

Cruise and Holmes were married from 2006 to 2012. Suri is their only child together, and her uber-famous parents opted to keep her out of the public eye for the majority of her childhood.

Holmes directed, wrote and stars in Alone Together – a romantic comedy set during the Covid pandemic. Also appearing opposite her in the film is English actor Jim Sturgess.

The film follows a man and woman fleeing New York City during the first wave of the pandemic in 2020.

They end up booking the same Airbnb and ultimately decide to stay at the upstate property together.

Sturgess praised Holmes’ directing style and shared that she gives actors wide latitude when they are in front of the camera.

The high-profile relationship of her parents  Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes made Suri’s birth in April 2006 one of the most publicised celebrity events of the entire noughties. 

Thanks to the soaring public profiles of her celebrity parents, their whirlwind romance, and their relationship with Scientology, Suri’s childhood was a constant point of fascination for tabloids and a hungry public. 

As a toddler, Suri became a fashion icon, drumming up controversy for wearing baby heels and handbags to style-out her designer outfits. 

However, after Cruise and Holmes separated in 2012, Suri and Holmes took a large step back from the spotlight. While Holmes inched back into headlines for her relationships and various professional moves over the years, Suri has not yet returned to the public eye.

Suri Cruise recently leant her vocals to two of mum’s film soundtracks. The 17-year-old performed ‘Blue Moon’ for the soundtrack of the 2022 film  Alone Together , and has sung yet-to-be-released tracks for Holmes’ latest directing project, Rare Objects . 

“ I hope she always does something on my films,” Holmes said in an interview with Glamour . “I always ask her. But both of those experiences came out of the same sense of what I love about our industry, which is, you have these projects and you become a family with people. And it’s this safe, beautiful, creative space. So it comes out of love for me to include someone who I love dearly. That’s how I like to work. I like to have that kind of feeling. It was very meaningful to me to have her there, because she’s my heart.”

According to the Daily Mail , Suri is reportedly applying for college to study fashion.

While a source said Suri was “applying for schools all over the place”, they also divulged that Holmes would prefer she stay close to home in New York City. 

In her interview with Glamour , Holmes confessed a continued desire to protect her daughter.

“What has been really important for me with my daughter, because she was so visible at a young age, is I really like to protect her,” she said. “I’m very grateful to be a parent, to be her parent. She’s an incredible person.”

Suri and Holmes are frequently sighted together around New York, and reportedly quarantined together at their home during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Does Tom Cruise see Suri Cruise?

According to recent reports from Page Six , Tom Cruise does not have a relationship with his daughter. 

Sources say he has not seen Suri in a decade, with their last meeting thought to be in 2013, around a year after Cruise’s split from Holmes.

Suri Cruise's birth was 'powerful' and 'spiritual'

On April 18, 2006, Suri Cruise was born in Santa Monica, California, to Hollywood superstar couple Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, at the time publicly known as " TomKat ." Holmes had been previously told Seventeen magazine  that she "used to think that I was going to marry Tom Cruise," so the public became enchanted as Holmes and Cruise, over the course of a year and some enthusiastic couch-jumping, eventually did begin to date in 2005. The couple quickly become engaged and announced they were expecting a child together in October 2005, according to  People . Cruise was reportedly so excited that he even  bought a sonogram machine in order to see baby Suri in utero.

The name Suri, according to Cruise in an interview with  Vanity Fair , came from a baby-naming book, and means "red rose."  CBS News reported that Suri was born weighing 7 pounds, 7 ounces, and measuring 20 inches long.

He received the news while on set for his film, "Oblivion," per  People . Proceedings moved swiftly, and the couple reached a settlement after just 11 days (per InStyle ). Holmes was awarded primary custody of Suri in the divorce, with Cruise gaining visitation rights. While Holmes did not receive spousal support in the settlement with Cruise, according to The Hollywood Reporter , Suri is set to receive $400,000 in child support per year until her 18th birthday. Cruise is also required to pay for Suri's expenses, including medical, dental, insurance, education, college and other extracurricular costs.

"We are committed to working together as parents to accomplish what is in our daughter Suri's best interests," a joint statement read (via  The Hollywood Reporter ). "We want to keep matters affecting our family private and express our respect for each other's commitment to each of our respective beliefs and support each other's roles as parents."

Suri has a complicated relationship with father Tom Cruise

Tom and Suri Cruise haven't been seen in public together since a visit to Disneyland in 2012, as reported by Yahoo . According to Us Weekly , the "Mission: Impossible" leading man has the right to see his daughter up to ten days a month, but chooses not to, allegedly because of Holmes and Suri's distance from the Church of Scientology. According to Huff Post , Tom admitted that post-divorce, Holmes and Suri were no longer practicing Scientologists. 

In a deposition with Bauer Media, Cruise was asked whether he and the church considered Holmes a " Suppressive Person ," or someone who tries to keep others down. According to Scientology expert Rick Ross, Church followers are taught to avoid Suppressive Persons (SPs) and "Potential Trouble Sources," (PTS). In an interview with InStyle , Holmes opened up and confessed that the time post-divorce was "intense" as a newly single mom. "It was a lot of attention, and I had a little child on top of it. We had some funny moments out and about in public. So many people I didn't know became my friends and helped us out, and that's what I love about the city," Holmes said. 

While Suri's digital presence is highly curated and limited, even on Holmes' own Instagram , the mother-daughter duo doesn't hold back when it comes to displaying their  close relationship during public appearances. "I was happy to become a mum in my twenties. It's been nice that our ages fit ... how do I put this? Every age that my child has been and my age at that time has been a good match. We kind of grew up together," Holmes said in an interview with Elle . 

She's been called 'one of Hollywood's most iconic teens'

Suri Cruise turned 13 in April 2019, and was immediately labeled by ET Online as "One of Hollywood's Most Iconic Teens." Through glimpses of Suri's life on her mom's Instagram page, we can tell she's already becoming a  stylish and confident young lady. The proud mama shared a rare video on her Instagram of Suri in black-and-white bounding through an empty street. In an interview with " Today ," Katie Holmes said her parenting secret for raising a down-to-earth teen is to "listen" to her daily and "reward her for hard work." 

"I do a lot to put perspective on life," Holmes said. "We help out the homeless. We do small acts of kindness. I don't over-gift. I don't inundate my child with a lot of things. We're trying to raise good humans and some days we're better at it than others. We just focus on what she's passionate about and how you feel when you achieve your goals." She continued, joking, "I also demand a 100 on a spelling test!"

She quarantined with mom in NYC during the pandemic

Katie Holmes said she and Suri Cruise were in and out of New York during the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in the spring of 2020, according to Yahoo Entertainment . The duo remained quarantined in their NYC apartment during lockdown. Holmes even shared a candid photo of Suri celebrating her 14th birthday on her Instagram . "This lockdown has had a lot of silver linings. It was a beautiful moment. I think when you have less, you are more creative," Holmes told " Entertainment Tonight " in an interview. "This year has also been a reminder that the simple things are really beautiful and that is, those are the gifts of life," she said. 

In an interview with  Yahoo Entertainment , Holmes was asked about how she felt about Suri (and her NYC classmates) possibly re-entering school in a post-COVID pandemic environment. "I want everyone to be safe as possible," she said. "It's a hard one: I have no expertise on this in terms of health measures, but I just want to be as smart as possible for the whole community and to really prevent anyone from getting sick. My heart really goes out to all the people who have lost people."

Teen Suri stuts the streets of NYC like a runway

As an independent teen, Suri sightings are becoming more frequent in public as the teen explores NYC with her friends. According to Hollywood Life , Suri Cruise is looking more and more like her mom Katie Holmes every day — and becoming a Gen-Z style icon. During a visit to the Harry Potter store in the Flatiron district of Manhattan, Suri and friends were seen rocking Slytherin house colors and bringing back 2000s clothing staples like floral midi skirts and converse sneakers (possibly raiding her mom's "Dawson Creek" character Joey Potter's closet?). This wasn't the first time the young starlet stepped out in vintage threads: She's been spotted bringing low rider flare jeans back in style, too (per Hollywood Life ). Holmes and Suri's mother-daughter bond is still going strong as well, with Momma Holmes showing off their adventures in tie-dye together on Instagram . 

"I love her so much. My biggest goal has always been to nurture her into her individuality. To make sure she is 100 percent herself and strong, confident, and able. And to know it. She came out very strong — she's always been a strong personality. She'll pick an activity and work her butt off until she's really good at it. Then she's like, 'OK, I'm going to try the next thing.' She's very focused and a hard worker," Holmes said in an interview with InStyle . 

Suri celebrates her sweet sixteenth

Suri Cruise celebrated her sweet sixteenth birthday in April 2022. The teen still keeps a low profile online, but every now and then proud mom Katie Holmes will send out a loving post on Instagram to celebrate with fans. Holmes' last Instagram  post featuring Suri was for her daughter's birthday the year before, with the caption, "Happy 15th Birthday Sweetheart! I love you!!!!!!!! I can't believe you are already 15!"

Nevertheless, witnessing her daughter transform and grow over the years hasn't always been easy for Katie Holmes. "Every day, kids get a little further away from you," she told Town & Country (via HuffPost ). "That's a positive thing. They should be becoming more independent, but it's heartbreaking." She continued, saying, "You want them to stay with you forever, but they're these amazing beings, and you have to do everything you can to give them what they need ― and then they're going to go. And that's going to be very, very sad for me."

In June 2022, Katie Holmes introduced Suri to her new boyfriend, Bobby Wooten III (via  Stylecaster ). According to Elle , Wooten, a musician and composer, made his public debut as a couple with Holmes in May at The Moth's 25th Anniversary gala, The Silver Ball, held at Spring Studios in New York City. An insider revealed to  Hollywood Life  that Suri "absolutely approves" of Wooten. "Bobby treats Suri like an adult, which she likes and Suri thinks it is great to see her mom happy," the insider said. 

Suri is growing up to look like like her mother

Suri Cruise is Katie Holmes' mini-me. In 2023, Suri was photographed buying flowers on Mother's Day, and the young woman is the spitting image of her mother. Her voice has been featured in two of her mom's films

Because of their close bond, it was inevitable that Suri Cruise and Katie Holmes would eventually work together. In July 2022, Holmes revealed to Yahoo Entertainment that Suri's vocals were featured on not one, but two of her movies.

Suri's cover of the hit song "Blue Moon" was featured in the credits of the film "Alone Together," which was written, directed, and starred in by Holmes . "I always want the highest level of talent," Holmes said. "So I asked her! She's very, very talented." The "Dawson's Creek" star added that she gave her daughter creative freedom. Suri reportedly wants to attend fashion school

Considering the outfits of Suri Cruise have garnered the attention of fashion blogs and enthusiasts alike, it's no surprise that the style icon is reportedly considering attending fashion school in New York City when she graduates from high school.

"Suri is applying to schools all over the place. [Katie] really does want her to stay in New York so they can be close to each other. Katie takes great pride in her but is also extremely overprotective," a source told Daily Mail. It's reported that Holmes is helping Suri with applications, while the only input her estranged father Tom Cruise will have is paying the college tuition costs as per the divorce agreement between him and Holmes.

Fashion school seems like the perfect choice for Suri, as she was already dishing out fashion advice to her mom at the age of four. "Like today I'm wearing brown suede pants, and [Suri] said, 'I don't like your pants.' But then she'll say, 'You've got to wear these shoes.' Or 'That's so pretty, Mom. Wear that.' She's got a great eye," Holmes told Elle in 2011 (via People ). Suri's interest in fashion no doubt stems from her mother, whose name these days is more synonymous with fashion than it is acting. Holmes is always in attendance at fashion weeks, she's graced the covers of multiple fashion magazines, and even co–founded her own clothing label in 2008 called "Holmes & Yang." 

Suri likes staying active

It's no secret that Suri Cruise and Katie Holmes do everything together, and that includes working out. In an interview with Shape magazine, Holmes opened up about her workout routine and more importantly, her workout buddy. "Sometimes I work out with my daughter. It just depends on the day," she said. "We have our routines, and occasionally they overlap. But I don't force her to work out with me because I know that's lame."

The two have been workout buddies for a while. In 2019, Holmes and then-13-year-old Suri were photographed leaving a yoga studio together, decked out in stylish yoga gear. It seems Holmes, who works out 4 times a week, is passing down her healthy habits and active lifestyle to her daughter. "Working out gets me ready for what's ahead and releases whatever frustrations I might have. Afterward I'm like, 'OK, now I can focus on what's right in front of me," Holmes told Shape.

Suri is often photographed strolling the streets in athletic wear. While it's unknown whether she's just visited the gym or gone for a run, her love of workout gear and toned physique makes it clear she stays in shape.

Suri is living life like an average teen

Growing up, Suri Cruise was one of the most photographed children of celebrities, which is why her mother Katie Holmes has made a concerted effort to give her a normal upbringing, as shielded from the Hollywood spotlight as possible. "What has been really important for me with my daughter, because she was so visible at a young age, is I really like to protect her," Holmes told Glamour.

Of course, not many "normal" teenagers can say they've had their voice featured in their mother's films, but that's as much as Suri's been involved in Hollywood so far. "Other than that, she's a 16-year-old kid doing high school," Holmes told Yahoo Entertainment. Holmes has done a good job, when you consider the lavish lives  and high-profile exposure of other celebrity children. We've seen Blue Ivy sing on stage with her mother Beyonce, we've watched the Kardashian children grow up on TV, and we've double-tapped countless pictures of Stormi Webster on her mom Kylie Jenner's Instagram page. Meanwhile, Suri is content taking her dogs for walks and watching "Dirty Dancing" with her mom like any normal teen. 

"My child is the most important person to me, and her upbringing is paramount to my work right now," the Dawson's Creek actress told Town & Country (via Page Six ). "It's very important that I'm present and she has a stable, innocent childhood."

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes shared the first photos of their daughter in an impressive spread published by Vanity Fair . "Yes, Suri, She's Our Baby!" read the cover. Photographed by Annie Leibovitz, Suri Cruise appeared content as the camera snapped away. The cover shot featured the bouncing baby girl in her father's arms, with her mom looking on. She had a full head of hair and appeared to be the perfect mix of her parents. "She has Kate's lips and eyes. I think she looks like Kate," the "Top Gun" actor told the publication. "I think she has Tom's eyes. I think she looks like Tom," countered Holmes. 

On the inside pages of the magazine, Suri became a star. She appeared in an impressive 22-page spread along with her parents, smiling and peering into the camera as if she was made for exactly this moment. And no one was disappointed. Millions of people viewed the first photos of Suri, and the outlet is said to have broken a one-day record with some four million people clicking in for a look. Perhaps even more shocking, when Suri was only three months old, TMZ reported that magazines were willing to pay upwards of $5 million for the first photos of Suri, which is quite a pretty penny for a tiny human who had only been earthside for a handful of months.

From there, paparazzi knew that photos of Suri were a high priority, and that has been the case ever since.

The camera loved Suri Cruise

After the first photos of Suri Cruise emerged, it seemed as though her parents didn't do much to keep her hidden from the world. Suri Cruise attended Avenues The World School in New York

After moving to New York City with her mom, Suri Cruise enrolled in a private school — Avenues The World School. The private school, located in the Chelsea district, requires its students to wear uniforms. Students can enroll at preschool age and can attend straight through high school, with courses designed to prepare them for college as they reach the higher grade levels. Perhaps unsurprisingly, tuition for the institution isn't cheap. Back in 2013, for example, tuition was estimated to be upwards of $40,000 per academic year. While the campus only first opened in 2012, it boasts quite a track record for its graduating students.

"Students from Avenues' first seven graduating classes are studying at a distinctive array of colleges and universities around the world, including the University of Chicago, Harvard, New York University, the University of Southern California and Stanford," the school's website reads. It's at Avenues that Suri started coming into her own and experiencing a different kind of learning in a safe environment — even impressively learning Mandarin Chinese in Elementary School, as reported by the Daily Mail .

Of course, the paparazzi haven't been too far behind, and photos of Suri as she's gotten older still seem to be a hot commodity. Interestingly, photos of Suri in her school uniform before and after classes are extremely rare, although US Weekly  obtained an adorable pic in October 2012.

Suri Cruise became a total yogi (just like her famous mom)

As Suri Cruise has gotten older, she's developed a love for working out and has been spotted heading to and from various classes, including yoga. In 2019, Katie Holmes told Shape that Suri's been a pretty good workout partner for her. "Sometimes I work out with my daughter. It just depends on the day. We have our routines and occasionally they overlap. But I don't force her to work out with me because I know that's lame," Holmes admitted. Over the years, Suri has been photographed alongside her mom in New York City, heading to a yoga studio to get some exercise. 

As Suri has gotten older, she's often been spotted as she heads to the gym to get a workout in. Holmes is such a big fan of her daughter that she has shown some serious interest in working with her professionally.

The actor actually got her daughter to lend her singing voice to a project she'd been working on. The then-16-year-old sang a cover of "Blue Moon" in the film "Alone Together," which was released in July 2022. "I always want the highest level of talent, so I asked her! She's very, very talented," Holmes told Yahoo! Entertainment . In April 2023, Suri's vocals in the film "Rare Objects" hit streaming platforms.

Suri Cruise has prepared for college

As the world has watched this super famous kid grow and change, it seems that most people want the very best for Suri as she embarks on new opportunities and forges her own path in the world. Of course, she will always have her mother's love and support, which has only helped shape the woman she is becoming.

Tom Cruise continues to be estranged from his daughter, Suri Cruise, Page Six can confirm.

A source tells us exclusively that the “Mission: Impossible” star, 60, has not seen the 16-year-old in a very long time and is not a part of her life.

Reps for Tom did not immediately return Page Six’s request for comment.

The movie star welcomed Suri with his then-girlfriend, Katie Holmes, in April 2006, but after the former couple split in 2011 , the father-daughter duo drifted further and further apart.

Tom admitted in transcripts from his 2012 defamation lawsuit against Bauer Media that he had not seen Suri for three months right after he and Holmes, now 44, called it quits.

“Listen, when there is a divorce … things change,” he told lawyers in 2013. “It’s not an ideal scene. It’s not an ideal situation.”

During a deposition for that same $50 million suit — which was ultimately settled — the “Top Gun” star confessed that his ties to Scientology had played a pivotal role in why he was separated from his kid.

When asked whether Holmes had left him “in part to protect Suri from Scientology,” Tom responded at the time, “That was one of the assertions, yes.”

In 2016, the controversial church was once again blamed for keeping Tom and Suri apart because, according to its rules, members are forbidden from associating with nonbelievers.

Since neither Suri nor Holmes were Scientologists, Tom reportedly could not have a relationship with either one.

“This is his loss, his issue, his problem,” a source told Page Six at the time. “He must be really brainwashed.”

Former Scientologist Leah Remini told The Post in 2020 that Scientology considers Holmes a “suppressive person,” which is an “enemy,” and therefore Tom believes he “can’t be connected to Suri.”

The “King of Queens” alum, who has been fighting to publicly expose the alleged misdeeds of the Church of Scientology, speculated of Tom, “I’m sure his master plan is to wait until Suri gets older so that he can lure her into Scientology and away from her mother.”

Aside from the drama involving her father, Suri appears to live a relatively normal life with her mom in New York City.

Over the years, she has been photographed casually going for a stroll in the Big Apple and hanging with a small group of friends .

In 2017, Holmes spoke about wanting to give her daughter a “stable” childhood .

The “Dawson’s Creek” alum told Town & Country at the time, “My child is the most important person to me, and her upbringing is paramount to my work right now.

“It’s very important that I’m present and she has a stable, innocent childhood. I feel so blessed to do what I do, but there’s nothing in the world better than watching your child succeed.”

Holmes’ rep did not immediately return Page Six’s request for comment.

Suri Cruise, 17, is spitting image of mom Katie Holmes as she enjoys solo walk in NYC

Time flies!  Tom Cruise and  Katie Holmes ' daughter Suri is 17 and making her mark on New York City as she was pictured strolling through the vibrant SoHo district solo. 

The teen looked effortlessly cool in a pair of baggy cargo jeans  and black sneakers, with a gray sweater, oversized patterned scarf and olive green puffer jacket. 

Walking on her own, the teen – who turns 18 on April 18, 2024 – appeared to be enjoying a takeaway snack from a white box, as she made her way around the neighborhood, located south of Chelsea, where it is believed she lives with mom Katie in a $12,000 a month apartment. 

Katie and Suri  moved to the city from Los Angeles after Katie's divorce from Suri's father, Tom, and she has previously revealed that they have settled comfortably into a life there, with friends and supportive neighbors. 

"So many people I didn't know became my friends and helped us out,” Katie disclosed to InStyle  in 2022, sharing a story of how a cab driver was once kind enough to help her when Suri was only six or seven. 

"She was spending the night at a friend's house while I was seeing the ballet at Lincoln Center,” Katie explained. "At 10 o'clock I got a call: 'Mommy, can you come get me?' I got a cab and went down to Battery Park to pick her up. She was exhausted. She fell asleep on the way home, and when we pulled up to our building, the cab driver opened the door and helped me not wake her. He helped carry her to the building. He was so kind.” 

"What I love about New York is that for me and my child, this is our vibe," she continued. 

"New York has been very good to both of us. I love the theater, the galleries in my neighborhood. Stuff [like] that is so much of what makes me love this city. I love the Knicks. I love talking to my neighbors in the elevator. I like feeling a part of something big," she later told  E! News . 

Suri now reportedly attended Avenues school in Manhattan, a private school that costs $65,850 for the 2023-2024 year, according to their website. However, she is estranged from her father, Mission: Impossible star Tom, reportedly due to his Scientology beliefs. 

During a $50 million suit deposition in 2012 against Bauer Media, Tom was questioned if Katie had left the actor "in part to protect Suri from Scientology", and Tom replied: "That was one of the assertions, yes."

Members of the church are not allowed to associate with non-believers.

But it seems that Suri is still planning to follow in her parents footsteps,  as she featured in her mom's directorial debut, Alone Together, singing a cover of 'Blue Moon' in the opening credits for the film , which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2022.

"She's very, very talented. She said she would do it and she recorded it and I let her do her thing," Katie later told Yahoo.
