What Time Do The Jonas Brothers Go On Stage For ‘The Tour?’

Megan Armstrong

The Jonas Brothers launched The Tour with back-to-back sold-out shows at Yankee Stadium on August 12 and 13 — the start of their most ambitious international tour yet with 54 semi-newly added dates across North America, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. Overall, The Tour will stretch into June 2024.

So far, Nick Jonas accidentally fell into a hole in the stage but recovered impressively quickly, and the actress Sophie Turner poked fun at her husband, Joe Jonas, with a Taylor Swift-inspired friendship bracelet . Fitting, because Joe, Kevin, and Nick are in their The Eras Tour era — delivering a three-plus-hour set spanning their entire discography .

According to No-Guilt Fangirl , the Jonas Brothers have so far been taking the stage between 8 p.m. and 8:15 p.m. local time for each show.

That’s mostly corroborated by setlist.fm , where fans have recorded that the Jonas Brothers took the stage at 8:20 p.m. and 8:35 p.m. at Yankee Stadium on August 12 and 13, respectively, before starting at 8 p.m. in Boston on August 15, 8:05 p.m. in Toronto on August 19, and 8 p.m. in Chicago on August 25.

This week, The Tour will visit Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas on Wednesday, August 30, and the Minnesota State Fair in Saint Paul, Minnesota on September 1. September will also see the Jonas Brothers perform at iconic venues, such as MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas and Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles. See all of their remaining dates here .

Jonas Brothers add more than 50 dates to The Tour: 'We want MORE!'

jonas brother tour stage

The Jonas Brothers – and their fans – want more. More tour, that is.

The brother trio – Nick, Joe and Kevin Jonas – announced a new batch of dates Thursday for their upcoming The Tour, which kicks off in New York with two sold-out nights at Yankee Stadium Aug. 12 and 13, supporting their sixth release, "The Album." The band is adding more than 50 new shows to the North American leg of the tour and across Europe, Australia and New Zealand, totaling more than 90 shows across 20 countries in their largest tour to date.

"You heard us… we want MORE! We added additional dates for THE TOUR in Australia, Europe and the US," the Jonas Brothers shared on Instagram alongside a cheeky video of the three of them excited about wanting "more."

Another sibling group, pop-soul act Lawrence led by Clyde and Gracie Lawrence, will open all the North American shows.

Ahead of the tour, the Jonas Brothers unpeeled the layers behind their albums at midtown Manhattan's Marquis Theater for their  five-night concert residency on Broadway .

Fans might also get an emotional moment between the brothers on tour with their ballad "Little Bird," which talks about the importance of a father/daughter relationship and is among their new favorites to perform live.

"It's one of those tunes where you're fighting back tears," Joe Jonas told USA TODAY in a May interview . "It's an emotional tune and we all kind of go, 'OK, here we go' when we see it on the setlist."

"I think it's like a thing where (before) one of us was out on a boat or something and the other was home with kids. There was a clear difference in what our realities are on an everyday basis," Nick Jonas said in the same interview. Now, "there's a better understanding and awareness of where we're all at, and that's totally reflected in the music."

I first saw the Jonas Brothers perform in 2009 at Nassau Coliseum on their World Tour. This was the peak of their career. They were the hearthrobs and swoons that reminded the mothers in the audience of the days when they hung up posters of the Beatles. The show in 2009 was one of their more glitzy performances with amazing pyrotechnics, the show was like a huge light show with the Jonas Brothers walking from end to end of their circular stage that truly allowed them to be in the center of the audience the entire time.

Since then I saw them perform three more times, twice at Jones Beach theater and once at PNC Bank Arts Center. My second Jonas Brothers concert was when their Camp Rock 2 Tour. This time, the cool effects came from the screens behind them rather than the lights and fire, but with Joe Jonas wearing some sort of Justin Bieber-like metallic ensemble, the show was good, but not raw like their shows had become last year.

Last year I saw them twice on their First TIme tour. Oddly enough, no album was released prior to the tour. They claimed they were using this tour to test out the songs (that never made an album since the band broke up this past October) I assume that financial reasons got in the way of cool effects, backup dancers, and glitzy costumes for the band of brothers since these concerts were as raw as the Jonas Brothers could get. This was the Jonas Brothers like I had never seen them before. The entire show was about the music and each time the brothers performed a new song the crowd got quiet rather than scream like they did back in 2009 and 2010. It was a moment where I realized that in addition to the brothers growing up, the fans were growing up too and the amphitheaters were filled with fans who had been there since day one. Going to the concerts felt like getting together with old friends as the crowds sang out hits from 2007 six years later. Fans who were once tweens and teens were now going off to college, getting jobs, getting married, and having kids like the oldest brother Kevin. Unfortunately the brothers broke up in October of 2013, just days before they were set to do another tour and months before a new album release. The brothers picked some of their new favorite songs and gifted it to their fan club members. Joe and Nick are both working on new music while Kevin is enjoying life as a father and a new business man, but when Nick and Joe release their new music and eventually set back out on tour, I recommend seeing them. The brothers from New Jersey really care about their fans, and now that their fans are older and more mature, so are their shows. Long live the days of shrieks so loud you went deaf before they graced the stage. Now, the shows are more intimate and the Jonas Brothers have come back down to Earth and I personally like them here.

The experience was amazing!!! First we got to see Picture This, which is an amazing underrated group and not only that but we got to take a picture with them. Then the Jonas Brothers were incredible, every song opening had a little story behind, a video playing through or special effects like confetti, fire or lights. The songs sounded perfect and depending on the song the ambiance was set to different thing, a slow song, a more happy song or a rock song. I LOVED IT!!!!

I have always been a Jonas Brothers fan but I never had the opportunity to go to one of their concerts since they went to my country once (my parents didn't want to pay for it :'( and I didn't go) and then split. I went to their concert in Manchester (luckily I am not studying in the UK) and it was amazing. It has been one of the best experiences of my life! There are no words to describe how much I enjoyed it. Just LOVED it!!!

The Jonas brothers show was great! The thing that was the most disappointing was how much time we had to wait for them to come on stage! We waited over an hour for them to come on stage and the 2nd person who was supposed to perform before them did not come on stage at all and nobody told us why. All in all a great show but the excitement kind of war off waiting for them to come on stage

Lovely, the Jonas Brothers are the best band on Earth, and I'm such a big fan, also I can't wait to be the biggest fan of Kevin, Joe, and Nick, I love their songs and their fans. The band makes me happy and relaxed of listening to their songs on YouTube.

YAAAYYYY...I'M SO HAPPY AND EXCITED FOR THEM!!!

One of the best shows of my life, the atmosphere was so incredible and joyous, I felt as excited as eleven years ago. Too bad they started the show late and I felt like they rushed through it; they didn’t talk much but made sure to make us all feel appreciated. I love the Jonas Brothers ❤️

Best concert of my life!! Such a fun, happy experience that I will never forget. It was worth every penny I paid and more!! Both the brothers and Bebe Rexha made it clear that they love what they do and they made their audience feel like they were up on stage with them. It was amazing.

Amazing Show! BeBe Rexha and Jordan McGraw were breathtaking. Of course the Jonas Brothers were awesome. We were up on the very highest seats in the right. Everyone got confetti expect for us because we were so far away. Loved the show but we didn’t get much action far away.

Incredible. Perfect mix of new music and nostalgia. Although my seats were high up, the experience was great, the multiple stages made a huge difference. Will most likely go back in November to experience there energy and music again.

Jonas Brothers Promise ‘Five Albums Every Night’ on North American Tour

  • By Jon Blistein

Jon Blistein

The Jonas Brothers will dig into their own “eras” bag with a new North American tour that will find them performing “five albums every night.” A few weeks before its kick-off, the band has extended their biggest tour yet with the addition of 26 new shows in North America and 27 new shows in Australia, New Zealand, and Europe.

“The Tour,” as it’s being called, appears to build off the band’s recent Broadway residency , during which they played one of their albums in its entirety each night, along with a selection of hits. The shows covered 2007’s self-titled up through their new LP, The Album , released May 12 (no luck for fans of 2006’s It’s About Time ).

Anyway, “The Tour” will kick off with the band’s two previously-announced how’s at Yankee Stadium in New York City on Aug. 12 and 13. The run was originally scheduled to wrapping on Oct. 14 at the Kaseya Center in Miami. Now, it will continue with a show at Atlanta’s State Farm Arena on Oct. 18 and extend through June 20, when it will conclude with a show in Northern Ireland. The new dates include shows in Brooklyn, Portland, Newark, Nashville, Vancouver, Seattle, Salt Lake City, and more.

Jonas Brothers setlist: Here are all the songs on their lively The Tour

  • Oops! Something went wrong. Please try again later. More content below

NEW YORK – The brothers are back.

Four years after their comeback Happiness Begins Tour, the Jonas Brothers are on the road again for their The Tour , kicking off with the first of two consecutive, sold-out hometown shows at Yankee Stadium on Saturday.

The New Jersey natives are chronicling five of their studio albums as the marathon beginning to their tour, supporting their latest LP, "The Album."

Building on the anticipation and format of their five-night Broadway stint earlier this year , songs from their newest album were sprinkled through two halves of the three-hour show, split by a downpour at intermission that magically halted as soon as they returned to the stage.

"A little rain doesn't stop this show," Joe Jonas said to the drenched crowd, still happily dancing and belting out the lyrics.

Act I featured their first two albums, "Jonas Brothers" and "A Little Bit Longer," while Act II cycled through "Lines, Vines and Trying Times" and "Happiness Begins."

They also had surprise guests: "Walls" got a boost from gospel legend Kirk Franklin alongside a soulful choir, and the band reunited with their former security guard Robert "Big Rob" Feggans, who rapped his verse on "Burnin' Up."

Joe, 33, Nick, 30, and Kevin Jonas , 35, dedicated songs to their wives in the audience ( Sophie Turner , Priyanka Chopra and Danielle Jonas , respectively) and praised the OG JoBros fans for sticking with them for more than 15 years, even after a brief hiatus when the band broke up in the mid-2010s.

"I'm so proud we got (ourselves) together so we could be here tonight," Nick Jonas said. "We've seen a lot of people who have been with us from the beginning."The Tour is jam-packed with more than 60 songs from their Disney Channel start to their grown-up sound.

After going to the concert, here's everything you need to know about the Jonas Brothers' The Tour wi...

You’re gonna wanna remember this.

It’s not just the weather outside — things are burnin’ up this summer, thanks to the Jonas Brothers . Nick, Joe, and Kevin Jonas are revisiting five of their six studio albums on their own version of an eras tour, which is simply titled The Tour. The band of brothers kicked off The Tour in NYC with two sold-out shows at Yankee Stadium, which included some surprise guests, light-up wristbands, and a career-spanning set list . As they’ve moved on to the next shows on the schedule, some things have changed along the way. To better prepare you for your night with the JoBros, here’s everything you need to know about The Tour.

I actually attended both nights of the Jonas Brothers’ The Tour at Yankee Stadium, so I went into my concert experience totally blind. This meant I ended up stuck in the rain night one, because I totally forgot that an outside concert is susceptible to the changing weather. I also wasn’t aware at the time that it’s such a long show — they really aren’t lying when they say it’s five albums in one night. Tracking how the tour has been going since my shows on TikTok, I can confidently say I’ve put together a Jonas Brothers’ The Tour survival guide for other fans to follow. From everything like things to bring in your bag to the best Jonas Brothers’ Tour outfits, here’s what to know so you aren’t a sucker for Nick, Joe, and Kevin.

Jonas Brothers' fans are making friendship bracelets and purity rings to exchange at The Tour.

There are a lot of similarities between the Jonas Brothers’ The Tour and Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour . Along with light-up bracelets that are being handed out at most shows once you enter ( Boston Night Two was an exception), fans are also exchanging friendship bracelets at the concert. However, JoBros fans are taking this trend to the next level by making friendship rings , inspired by the boys’ purity rings they used to wear in their Disney Channel days. So, get a kit before your show, and make some bracelets and rings with different lyrics and song titles to exchange.

Just like the Eras Tour and Beyoncé’s Renaissance Tour , this is a chance for you to really dress up — and some fans are going all out. Several people were wearing outfits inspired by when the Jonas Brothers competed on the Disney Channel Games , which is a fun group costume. However, you can also keep it simple by wearing an OOTD inspired by what the JoBros used to wear in the early aughts. Think vests, infinity scarves, and lots of swooping bangs. The more camp (rock), the better.

First, be sure to check your venue’s bag policy. Once you know whether there are size restrictions or if you need a clear bag, you can start packing. Along with a portable charger to keep you going through the entire set, you’ll also want to be prepared for any weather. I was caught in the rain and really wished I had brought a poncho or umbrella. But it was also super hot at night in NYC, so a fan was a must-have as well. I recommend bringing a little fan to keep you cool, and if possible, an empty water bottle to fill up once you get inside.

Kevin Jonas, Nick Jonas, and Joe Jonas pose backstage with their surprise guest, Jimmy Fallon, durin...

The Jonas Brothers have teased that there will be surprise guests on The Tour , but that’s not always the case. While both nights in NYC had guests like Big Rob for “Burnin’ Up” and Kirk Franklin and Jon Bellion for their song “Walls,” night two also had Jimmy Fallon come out after the intermission. Boston also had inconsistent surprise guests: Night one had TikTok sensation DJ Crazy Times and Ms. Biljana Electronica singing “Planet of the Bass,” while night two didn’t have anyone. So, don’t get your hopes up if you no one shows up for your concert. At least you have Nick, Joe, and Kevin, and you might get to go home just a tad bit earlier.

Joe is notoriously bad at remembering lyrics to some of the older Jonas Brothers songs, and honestly, it’s relatable. Some of these songs from their self-titled album, Jonas Brothers, you haven’t heard since it was released in 2007. Give yourself a break if you can’t scream-sing every line from “Hollywood” or “Australia.” It’s been 16 years. Of course, you could give yourself a crash course ahead of time by studying their set list . Just know that many of the songs are shortened into medleys, so you won’t have to know every single word.

While Swift mixed up her eras, the Jonas Brothers are doing things chronologically. That means the first half of the show covers Jonas Brothers and A Little Bit Longer, and the second half is Lines, Vines, Trying Times with Happiness Begins. They do sprinkle in tracks from their latest album, The Album, during both halves, and give a moment to their solo eras with Nick singing “Jealous” and Joe singing DNCE’s “Cake by the Ocean.” So, you could say it’s a five albums, one night show with some extras thrown in.

However, there are no songs from Camp Rock on the set list, and just like Swift ignored her debut album during the Eras Tour, the Jonas Brothers’ It’s About Time is left out as well. It truly is a bummer for us OG fans, who just want to hear “Please Be Mine” and “Mandy” live one more time.

You can shop for the Jonas Brothers' Tour merch online instead of at the show.

I wish I had known ahead of time that all the Jonas Brothers merch being sold at the venue is also available online. It would have saved me so much time not having to wait in line by just buying it ahead of time. For now, nothing is show-exclusive, so don’t waste your time and use it to go to the bathroom and get some snacks. (Have I mentioned already it’s a long show?)

For both nights, I was in the stands rather than on the floor. I’ve seen the Jonas Brothers plenty of times, so just being there is enough for me. I don’t need to spend $800 on VIP Jonas Brothers tickets . However, if you want the chance to look them in the eyes or even talk to them, you’ll want to splurge on those VIP packages — more specifically, the Ultimate Wings Lounge VIP Package. A more central seat will also give you a better view of the entire stage, along with the fireworks that go off behind them.

There is an opening act for The Tour, Lawrence , who do a great job at pumping up the crowd beforehand, but don’t stress yourself out trying to get to the venue too early. Since merch isn’t a must like it was at the Eras Tour , you can take your time. Even the Jonas Brothers were late getting on stage when I went in New York. They said they’d be on at 8 p.m. , but both nights it was close to 8:30 p.m. Just give yourself enough time to get some snacks, go to the bathroom, and find your seat before they take the stage.

Nick Jonas, Joe Jonas, Robert "Big Rob" Feggans, and Kevin Jonas perform "Burnin' Up" onstage during...

If you do find yourself running late to the show, there’s an intermission. The last song before the break is “Burnin’ Up,” which closes out their A Little Bit Longer section. To avoid long lines, just make sure you’re ready to head to the restroom as soon as the song ends. This is also a great time to grab some snacks or refill your water bottle for part two.

The touring news comes just 10 days ahead of the May 12 release of The Album , the Jonas Brothers’ first record since 2019’s Happiness Begins . Kevin, Joe and Nick have effectively been working toward The Tour since February, when they staged a five-night run of intimate shows on Broadway in New York. Each night, they played a different one of their albums, starting with 2007’s self-titled LP and ending with the live debut of The Album .

In April, the guys played two sold-out shows at Yankee Stadium in New York, both of which included run-throughs of all five of the albums spread out across five nights on Broadway two months prior. This format will now be applied to every night of The Tour , as explained by Kevin, Joe and Nick in an Instagram announcement video.

Jonas Brothers were ‘Burnin’ Up’ in Salt Lake City stop of ‘The Tour’

Jonas brothers hit the stage with music and a few pyrotechnics on saturday night at the maverik center. this was the 44th stop in their worldwide tour.

The Jonas Brothers took a trip to the “Year 3000” — and they brought a horde of screaming fans in Utah with them.

The band performed dozens of their top hits to a nearly sold-out crowd at the Maverik Center in West Valley City on Saturday night. There were times when it was hard to hear the music over the audience’s applause.

“This is honestly the loudest Salt Lake has been for us,” Joe Jonas, the band’s middle brother, said after the band played a few songs.

Joe Jonas of Jonas Brothers performs at the Maverik Center.

How the Jonas Brothers came to be, broke apart and came together again

With a career spanning two decades, producing five albums and various solo projects, the real-life brothers — Kevin, Joe and Nick — have come a long way from their parents’ basement in New Jersey. While they found early success on Disney Channel, the Jonas Brothers have established themselves in the mainstream music industry, having 26 top 100 songs, according to Billboard .

The concert highlighted the brothers’ current success as musicians while also paying tribute to their long careers. Nick, the youngest in the band, was only 12 when their first album was released, per People .

Nick said during Saturday’s concert that their first album, “It’s About Time,” didn’t perform as well as they expected, so they were dropped by their first record label. Despite the early setback, the Jonas Brothers chose to continue making music.

“We learned how to fail early on so that we could look up in 2023 and be very proud to celebrate this journey with the people that got us here, all of you, so thank you,” Nick told the audience.

Their sophomore album, “Jonas Brothers,” shot them to mainstream recognition. Over the next few years, the brothers continued making music and appeared in Disney originals like “Hannah Montana,” the “Camp Rock” movies and even their own TV show, “Jonas.”

The band went on hiatus in 2011, and the brothers took time to work on individual projects, per People. Nick went on tour with his band Nick Jonas & the Administration, Joe released a solo album, and Kevin and his wife starred in a reality TV show.

The brothers reunited in 2012 but cancelled their planned 2013 tour, which People attributed to a “deep rift within the band.” The band confirmed they had split in 2013.

During the split, the trio continued to work on solo endeavors and focused on their own growing families, with both Joe and Nick getting married.

In 2019, the brothers reunited and released a comeback album, “Happiness Begins.” The band released “The Album” in May 2023 and began their discography-spanning tour a few months later.

Jonas Brothers dazzle the crowd — and tug at a few heartstrings

Saturday’s performance was the 44th stop of “ The Tour ,” which opened Aug. 13 in New York City. They’ve gradually made their way west over the past three months, but will finish up back where they started on Dec. 9 in Brooklyn.

On Saturday’s show, the three rose from the stage amid clouds of smoke shortly after 8 p.m. and played for nearly three hours, stopping only for a brief intermission. They played songs from each of their albums, including early hits such as “Burnin’ Up” and “Year 3000” and more recent songs like “Sucker” and “Waffle House.”

Nick Jonas of Jonas Brother performs at the Maverik Center.

Nick Jonas also sang “Jealous,” a song he released as a solo artist in 2014, and Joe played “Cake By the Ocean,” which he released with his band DNCE in 2015. The stage crew included DNCE guitarist JinJoo Lee and 14 others, featuring a brass band and a cello. Lee’s guitar solo in “Cake By The Ocean” was a showstopper.

Although the trio’s songs are generally upbeat pop with a hint of rock, they slowed it down for several softer ballads, such as “Hello Beautiful” and “When You Look Me In The Eyes.”

Nick became visibly emotional during “Little Bird,” a song the brothers released this year about their own children. Before they began the song, the camera panned to a fan, Kayla, holding a sign asking the band to dedicate the song to her “two angels in heaven.”

After strumming a few bars of the song, Nick was overcome with emotion and stopped playing. Joe then invited Kayla to join the brothers onstage for the remainder of the song, which they finished to thunderous applause.

The concert even included some holiday cheer, as Joe noted he had seen some snow on the mountains and asked the crowd if they would mind starting Christmas a little bit early. The brothers then sang their 2019 hit “Like It’s Christmas,” with fake snow exploding out of cannons and over the crowd. Joe even made a snow angel on stage during the song.

Jonas Brothers have come a long way since their debut album in 2006, and their musical careers are far from over. “The Tour” will take them around the U.S. before heading to Europe in 2024. Their next show is Tuesday in Spokane, Washington.

Tickets for the Jonas Brothers' highly anticipated tour officially went on sale Friday (May 12) — and some fans are concerned about where they might be hearing The Album from.

Whether you purchased your tickets during presale or the public on sale, you might have noticed some venues across the U.S. offered tickets behind the stage. Fans on social media were quick to panic, sharing posts on Twitter about how they bought the "worst" seats in the house. Fear not, says Nick Jonas himself.

"Did I just buy the worst @jonasbrothers tickets ?!!? WTF WHY ARE THEY BEHIND THE STAGE. WTF IS HAPPENING," one fan from Texas wrote on Twitter on Friday morning.

Nick came to the rescue, quote-tweeting her stress-filled tweet and giving the rest of the country room to breathe and relax. "Those seats are actually incredible. Trust me. 😎," he wrote.

This isn't the first tour where the Jonas Brothers cater to fans who buy tickets in the behind-the-stage area. While we don't know how the stage will be set up, we do know that it's likely you'll get a good view of the Jo Bros no matter where you're sitting. Check out this video from a few years ago from a fan who bought last-minute seats:

The Jonas Brothers phenomenon doesn’t seem to be running out of steam any time soon, as the three brothers continue to excite crowds with a retrospective of their five albums and timeless pop hits. Whether it’s songs like Celebrate, S.O.S. or tracks from the film Camp Rock, Joe, Nick and Kevin know all too well there is nothing like the energy generated on stage after their tour around the world, which included two sold out concerts at Yankee Stadium in New York City in 2023.

The Next Jonas Brothers Performance Will Be Different In a Big Way From 'The Tour' - Here's Why

The Jonas Brothers take on a massive undertaking with their new concert The Tour – they’re performing all of their music every time they take the stage.

However, their performance on Friday (September 1) in Saint Paul, Minnesota will be different from their others in a major way.

Read more about the Jonas Brothers’ next show…

Nick , Joe and Kevin Jonas are taking the stage at the Minnesota State Fair for their performance. That means that they are performing with a limited set time and will not be able to perform for as long.

More specifically, they’ll be limited to 75 minutes of stage time.

“Tomorrow night’s show at the Minnesota State Fair will not be the usual show on the tour. The total runtime will be 75 minutes,” they wrote in a post on Instagram. “Performing the best possible show in our allotted stage time is our top priority and we promise to pack in as much music as we can for all of you in those 75 minutes!”

They signed off, writing, “Looking forward to seeing you and thank you for your continued support [heart emoji] We will see you on the fairgrounds!”

The Jonas Brothers performed a shocking 67 songs when they took the stage for opening night earlier this month. They’ve gone viral several times since kicking things off, most recently for an emotional dedication that they made.

Live music is taking center stage in India

This story was produced by our colleagues at the BBC .

When major international artists plan their world tours, India has often been left out . Now, that’s starting to change. As the country invests in better venues , transportation and staging, more and more musicians are heading there to try to break into the multimillion dollar market.

In March, 50,000 people headed to Mahalaxmi Racecourse in Mumbai. They were there to see Ed Sheeran. He sang in Punjabi for the first time with Indian singer Diljit Dosanjh, and the video went viral with more than 50 million views.

Sachin was there and enjoyed every minute. “He was so electric and charming, I had the best night of my life,” he said.

Ed Sheeran is not the only one to play on that stage. Over the last 12 months, the Jonas Brothers, Royal Blood and Irish band Westlife have all energized India’s live music scene .

Ashish Hemrajani is the co-founder of BookMyShow, India’s most popular online ticket platform for live events. They put on shows, as well as sell tickets across sports, theater, live music and film.

Over the past 10 years, India’s entertainment industry has rapidly changed from one that’s focused on movies to music. “13.5 million Indians are stepping out for events, outside of movies, on an annualized basis,” Hemrajani said.

Since 2022, live music has been BookMyShow’s fastest-growing category, contributing to 25% of their revenue.

But Hemrajani said the weather can be a challenge. “It’s a country where six months of the year it’s either too hot or it’s raining, and there aren’t any indoor venues for live entertainment.”

“One of the things we’re doing is taking earlier created venues for sports like cricket and seeing if we can use it as a multi-use venue,” he added.

In addition to building new stages and developing better transport routes, India has also scrapped a tax on all event tickets less than $6. That’s made a big difference to people like Arjun Sagar Gupta, who owns the Piano Man, a music bar with three venues across Delhi.

“A lot of our shows fall below that,” he said. “So it just makes the entry point for a potential audience member easier.”

Gupta thinks the growing appetite for live concerts in India is partly down to music becoming more accessible. “When we were kids, you know, we were at a shop buying cassettes and CDs, and we were at the beck and call of the distributor, what they decided would sell in India.”

But now streaming platforms like Spotify and Apple Music have changed all that, he added.

India also has a ready-made base of young music fans — more than 40% of the population is under the age of 25, according to Pew Research Center . But they’re still waiting to see some of the biggest names in music perform live.

Beyoncé and Taylor Swift haven’t yet added India to their global tours. But the music industry — and their fans there — are hoping that will change very soon.

Taylor Swift and Joe Jonas' Relationship: A Look Back

From sharing the stage to writing songs about each other, the musicians have come a long way since dating in 2008

jonas brother tour stage

Taylor Swift and Joe Jonas are still on good terms following their short-lived romance in 2008.

The two started dating under the radar for a few months in the summer of 2008, when the " Love Story " singer hit the stage with the Jonas Brothers for a handful of concerts during their Burnin' Up Tour.

However, their relationship made headlines when Swift publicly addressed their split on The Ellen DeGeneres Show , notably calling out how Jonas broke up with her in a 25-second phone call.

Though the aftermath was rocky (both wrote fairly pointed breakup songs about each other), the two musicians have developed a friendship in recent years, mingling at award shows and supporting each other's music careers.

Jonas' wife Sophie Turner is a huge Swiftie herself — and when Taylor released a Fearless (Taylor's Version) vault track called "Mr. Perfectly Fine" seemingly about her split with Jonas, Turner hilariously showed her support for Team Taylor.

From their early beginnings to their friendship now, here's a look back at Swift and Jonas' relationship.

July 2008-October 2008: Taylor Swift and Joe Jonas date

The two first sparked romance rumors in July 2008, though they denied they were a couple at the time. "We're all friends," Swift told PEOPLE at the time. "He's an amazing guy and anybody would be lucky to be dating him."

Jonas echoed those same sentiments when Ryan Seacrest inquired about their relationship status, saying, "She's a great girl … I think anybody would love to go on a date with her."

Speculation about their relationship went into overdrive when they sat together at the MTV Video Music Awards in September 2008. Swift also notably performed with the Jonas Brothers during their Burnin' Up Tour, which was later featured in their 3D movie, Jonas Brothers: The Concert Experience .

November 11, 2008: Taylor Swift releases "Forever & Always" about Joe Jonas

Swift and Jonas parted ways shortly before she released Fearless in November 2008, but she did manage to sneak in one song about the singer titled "Forever & Always."

"[It's] a song about watching somebody completely fade away in a relationship and wondering what you did wrong," Swift told PEOPLE about the breakup track inspired by Jonas .

"It's been tough," she said of their breakup during an appearance on KIIS-FM. "You just have to try to realize someday you'll find someone that's right for you."

November 11, 2008: Taylor Swift says Joe Jonas broke up with her over the phone on The Ellen DeGeneres Show

During an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show , Swift opened up about her split from Jonas , noting that he broke up with her in a 25-second phone call.

"Some day, I'm gonna find somebody really, really, really great, who's right for me …" she told the host. "When I find that person that is right for me, he'll be wonderful and when I look at that person, I'm not even gonna be able to remember the boy who broke up with me over the phone in 25 seconds when I was 18."

Swift continued to poke fun at the breakup on her Myspace page, posting a vlog that showed her holding up a Joe Jonas doll. "See, this one even comes with a phone. So he can break up with other dolls," she joked to the camera.

November 14, 2008: Joe Jonas talks about his split from Taylor Swift

Following Swift's appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show , Jonas took to his own Myspace page to address his breakup with Swift as well as his new relationship with actress Camilla Belle.

"Several things I will state with all my heart," he wrote at the time. "I never cheated on a girlfriend. It might make someone feel better to assume or imply I have been unfaithful but it is simply not true. Maybe there were reasons for a breakup. Maybe the heart moved on. Perhaps feelings changed. I am truly saddened that anything would potentially cause you to think less of me."

He then addressed the infamous phone call Swift had previously mentioned. "For those who have expressed concern over the '27 second' phone call, I called to discuss feelings with the other person," he continued. "Those feelings were obviously not well received. I did not end the conversation. Someone else did. Phone calls can only last as long as the person on the other end of the line is willing to talk."

December 31, 2008: Taylor Swift and Joe Jonas perform during Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest

Amid the drama, the two were slated to appear on Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve With Ryan Seacrest in December 2008; they were spotted standing on opposite ends of the stage as they watched the ball drop at midnight alongside Demi Lovato and Lionel Richie.

During the show, Swift notably performed "Love Story" on stage before transitioning into a performance of "Forever & Always," which she penned about Jonas. Meanwhile, the Jonas Brothers performed their hit "Burinin' Up" as well as their breakup track "Tonight."

June 16, 2009: Joe Jonas releases "Much Better" about Taylor Swift

When the Jonas Brothers released their Lines, Vines and Trying Times album, many fans noticed that their track "Much Better" seemed to reference Swift. As Jonas talked about moving on with someone new, he sang about being "done with superstars and all the tears on her guitar," a nod to Swift's song "Teardrops on My Guitar."

Fans also assumed that their lead single "Paranoid" was written about Swift with the lyrics: "Caught in a nightmare / Can't wake up/ That's why my ex is still my ex/ I never trust a word she says / I'm running all the background checks / And she's freaking out."

November 7, 2009: Taylor Swift mentions Joe Jonas in her SNL monologue

In November 2009, Swift hosted Saturday Night Live for the first time, and delivered her monologue musically with the original song "Monologue Song (La La La)." As she recounted her last year in the spotlight, she made pointed references to Kanye West storming the VMAs stage after her win , her newfound relationship with Twilight actor Taylor Lautner, and her ex Jonas.

"You might think I'd bring up Joe, that guy who broke up with me on the phone, but I'm not gonna mention him in my monologue," she sang before adding, "Hey, Joe! I'm doing real well. Tonight I'm hosting SNL ... but I'm not gonna brag about that in my monologue."

October 25, 2010: Taylor Swift releases "Last Kiss" about Joe Jonas

Two years after her breakup with Jonas, Swift released her Speak Now album, which contained a few songs fans speculated could be about their relationship. The song "Last Kiss" had the most concrete references to their relationship, though, and Swift included a hidden message in the liner notes that read "Forever and always."

September 1, 2011: Joe Jonas attends Taylor Swift's Speak Now concert

Jonas sent fans into a frenzy when he was spotted attending Swift's Speak Now concert in San Jose, California, prompting many to believe that the exes were back on good terms.

Swift, who notably wrote lyrics on her arm during her Speak Now concerts, even seemed to extend an olive branch to Jonas by writing, "After all that we've been through, I know we're cool," from Gwen Stefani 's song "Cool" on her arm that night. At the time, it was reported that Jonas went to a handful of other Swift concerts , including one in San Diego.

August 2012: Joe Jonas says "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" isn't about him

When Swift released her lead single "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" from her Red album, many wondered who might be the inspiration. But Jonas made sure to set the record straight during an interview with Washington, D.C.'s 94.7 Fresh FM radio.

"I don't think we've ever tried [to get back together] another time, so I can tell you it's not about me," he clarified. "That said, I think the song is great. Taylor does pop music really well and I'm happy for her."

He continued to sing Swift's praises during the interview, adding that the exes keep in touch "as much as we can." "I haven't really spoken to her recently, but I was able to go to her concert last year, and her show live is so phenomenal," he said. "I would say anybody should go see it if they haven't had a chance."

October 22, 2012: Taylor Swift releases "Holy Ground"

While "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" wasn't written about Jonas, many believe her Red track "Holy Ground" was. In addition to seemingly making reference to their time in N.Y.C. together when she performed with the Jonas Brothers at Madison Square Garden in 2008, she also alluded to Jonas attending her Speak Now concerts in the liner notes as the hidden message read: "When you came to the show in SD."

May 2015: Joe Jonas reveals he's on good terms with Taylor Swift

In 2015, Jonas said that he was on good terms with Swift after Access Hollywood Live asked how he felt about being the subject of her songs.

"That's part of being a musician, I guess. You write songs about each other," he said. "She's great. Yeah, we're friends ... In this industry, you meet a lot of people and you stay in touch. Obviously, it's tough to be friends with people that are always constantly traveling, but yeah, we're cool."

A month later, the DNCE singer began dating one of Swift's close friends, Gigi Hadid . During a trip to London, Swift and her boyfriend at the time, Calvin Harris , went on a boat ride double date with Jonas and Hadid (with Karlie Kloss fifth-wheeling).

July 4, 2015: Joe Jonas spends the Fourth of July at Taylor Swift's house

The singer (along with then-girlfriend Hadid) and his brother Nick Jonas were among the many stars at Swift's annual Fourth of July bash at her Rhode Island home. The brothers posted a photo in the same matching stars-and-stripes onesies seen on Hadid and Swift, among others.

During an appearance on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen , Jonas was asked to play a game of shag, marry and kill with his exes , Swift, Lovato and Hadid.

A decade after her split from Jonas, Swift mentioned the singer on The Ellen DeGeneres Show when the host asked what's the most rebellious thing she ever did as a teenager.

"Probably when I like, put Joe Jonas on blast on your show," she told DeGeneres. "That was too much. Yeah, that was too much. I was 18. We laugh about it now, but that was mouthy … just teenage stuff there."

August 26, 2019: Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner cheer on Taylor Swift at the VMAs

During the 2019 MTV VMAs, Jonas and his wife of several months Sophie Turner were seen cheering for the "Lover" singer as she took home Video of the Year.

July 24, 2020: Taylor Swift insinuates that she sent Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner's baby a present

With the release of Folklore , fans believed that the song "Invisible String" included a reference to Jonas and his wife Turner , who were expecting their first child at the time.

"Cold was the steel of my axe to grind / For the boys who broke my heart / Now I send their babies presents," sings Swift on the song, later adding that "Hell was the journey but it brought me heaven."

April 7, 2021: Taylor Swift releases "Mr. Perfectly Fine" about Joe Jonas

Being on good terms with Jonas now didn't stop Swift from releasing a fiery track about their split that had been cut from the original edition of Fearless entitled "Mr. Perfectly Fine."

"Me in 2020: life is chill, writing songs based in fiction to avoid drama, feeling pretty grown up. My 2008 music from the vault, in a goblin voice: 'REELEEEEEEASE MR PERFECTLY FIIIIIIINE,'" the pop star tweeted following the song's release.

Turner seemed to confirm the track was about Jonas as she hilariously reposted the song on social media, writing, "It's not NOT a bop." Swift's response to the Game of Thrones star: "Forever bending the knee to the 👑 of the north."

November 13, 2021: Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner support Taylor Swift at SNL

When Swift performed on SNL in 2021, she got support from a handful of her celebrity friends. In addition to hanging out with Selena Gomez backstage (a friend of hers she initially met through the Jonas Brothers in 2008), Jonas and Turner were spotted entering Studio 8H ahead of her episode.

When the Jonas Brothers performed in Las Vegas, the singer continued to prove that he and Swift are on good terms as he changed the lyrics to "Much Better ."

In the song's album version, Jonas sings the opening lines, "I got a rep for breaking hearts / Now I'm done with superstars / And all the tears on her guitar / I'm not bitter," which fans have taken as a reference to Swift's "Teardrops on My Guitar" since the track's release.

While on stage in Las Vegas, the DNCE frontman instead sang, "Now I'm cool with superstars," and received a cheer from fans.

“Alright!” shouted a clearly excited Chris Robinson last week as the Black Crowes performed on stage in Chicago. “Friday night at the rock and roll show!”

Following last month’s release of their latest studio album Happiness Bastards , their ninth, the Crowes performed Friday night in Chicago at Aragon Ballroom about halfway through the U.S. leg of their current tour, a lengthy jaunt set to take them abroad next month ahead of fall and winter dates in support of Aerosmith’s rescheduled “Peace Out” North American farewell tour.

“When we saw we were coming back to the Aragon, we were very excited,” said Robinson late, noting the group’s first performance in the picturesque room in almost 25 years. “And we’re very excited to have Glyders opening for us. They’re from this town, check them out,” he continued, lauding the work of the Chicago-based, psychedelic garage rock trio (as a cardboard cutout of Chuck Berry looked on from the venue’s balcony).

“Cheers, everyone!” said bassist Eliza Weber early. Singer/guitarist Joshua Condon and drummer Joe Seger would soon find a groove during standout tracks like “Geneva Strangemod” and “High Time,” both from their 2023 full-length debut Maria’s Hunt.

Since we were first introduced in 1990, the Crowes have tallied a pair of platinum albums and three gold records, with Happiness Bastards , the group’s first studio album of original material in nearly 15 years, a worthy addition to their unique brand of southern-fried rock and roll.

“There’s a little town about 90 miles south of Atlanta called Macon, Georgia,” Robinson explained Friday night in Chicago, spotlighting the group’s roots. “Little Richard is from Macon. And the Allman Brothers Band,” he began, just one day removed from the death of co-founding Allman Brothers guitarist Dickey Betts. “But there’s another: the greatest soul singer of all time, Otis Redding,” he continued. “Well, we jumped on that song and it goes like this,” said Robinson, setting up a late take on one of the biggest Black Crowes hits in Redding’s “Hard to Handle.”

While recent tours celebrated their Shake Your Money Maker record, this one makes the case for the new project, with the Black Crowes performing six songs from it over the course of about 95 minutes on stage Friday in Chicago.

As they do on the album too, “Bedside Manners” and “Rats and Clowns,” two of Happiness Bastards ’ more rollicking moments, kicked things off Friday night.

Performing as an 8 piece group, drummer Cully Symington and keyboard player Erik Deutsch were set beside backing vocalists Mackenzie Adams and Lesley Grant atop a unique two-tiered stage built to resemble stacks upon stacks of vintage amplifiers and audio equipment.

Frontman Chris Robinson, who performed in front of a large mirror, was joined on stage by guitarists Rich Robinson and Nico Bereciartua as well as longtime bassist Sven Pipien. Festive lighting strung over, along and behind the stage flanked the group who performed under a massive “Happiness Bastards” banner hanging from the lighting rig over the stage.

“Good to see you all. Welcome to the ‘Happiness Bastards!’” said Chris early in Friday’s set. “We’ve got some new songs and we got some old ones - like this!” he said, shuffling left before pointing right at Rich on the slide guitar, ultimately bunnyhopping in reverse back to center stage as “Twice As Hard” rang out early in Chicago.

Robinson was in fine form Friday, a rejuvenated frontman shimmying about while delivering a still impressive lead vocal, with the new music cementing a once unthinkable rebirth for the Black Crowes, who’ve continually staked their claim as one of America’s best rock acts since reforming in 2019.

From 1996’s Three Snakes and One Charm , “Nebakanezer” was an early highlight in Chicago. The gnarly dual guitar riffwork of “Horsehead,” from 1999’s By Your Side followed, providing one of Friday’s more rewarding one-two punches.

While “Oh Josephine” slowed things down momentarily, “Thorn in my Pride” found the group beginning to roll, with Chris on harmonica as the Crowes delivered an all hands, Stones-like jam to close the cut.

“Everyone say hello to Rich Robinson,” said Chris, gesturing toward his younger brother. With a wave of his right hand, Rich greeted the rapturuous Chicago crowd, soon strumming in the familiar opening licks to “She talks to Angels” on acoustic guitar.

From the new record, “Flesh Wound” followed, quickly proving to be a late high spot. The saccharine-drenched affair was a blast in the live setting, conjuring up the power pop stylings of Cheap Trick as the Black Crowes soared forward in fun fashion.

The brothers Robinson leaned in close, singing into the same mic during “Jealous Again” before closing with “Remedy,” with Chris back on harp as the new “Kindred Friend” wrapped things up in the Windy City.

“What is a band, other than something you dream up?” asked Chris rhetorically on stage in Chicago. “This band started in our mom and dad’s house in the 80s,” he continued, noting the pair’s humble roots. “And that dream will continue on.”
