Stonehenge Bus Trip from Victoria Coach Station

If you are reading this review and want to go to Stonehenge, grab your smartphone and download the Stonehenge App. It allows you to access the audio tour beforehand and during the tour from your smartphone. If you want to use your smartphone for the tour you would want to bring a set of headphones. The admission to the tour also includes the physical audio guide (if there are ones left/available). I know there is an iPhone App. Check the Google Play store if you have an Android. This tour departs from the Victoria Coach station gate 0. The coach station isn't that same place as the Victoria tube station. It is next door so there is a little walking to get over there. Our bus driver and "guide" was Richard. His comedy routine was well rehearsed and I'd like to see him at a club on open mic night. I couldn't think of a better person to take us to see a well organized ancient pile of rubble in the countryside. The drive to Stonehenge takes about 2 hours without any traffic problems. Please note that the bus DOES NOT have a bathroom on board. Make sure you use the bathroom as Richard isn't supposed to stop to let people go to the bathroom (he did stop on the way there for a number of people who were very thankful for this stop). If you hit traffic on the way stopping would be much more difficult. Once you arrive at Stonehenge, you get close to two hours to walk through everything. More time than this isn't really needed. We hit a large amount of traffic on the way back. You are not dropped off at the same location. They make two stops. We hopped off on the first stop as we wanted off the bus and we really only needed the closest tube station to get back to our hotel. The last tip is to take a seat on the left side of the bus. When you leave Stonehenge, you will drive past Stonehenge. You can then take some more photos out the bus window while driving past Stonehenge. You'll have some time as you are stuck in a little bit of traffic that is also taking pictures of Stonehenge.

We took the day tour from London to Stonehenge and Bath. The tour guide NEVER shut up. Not once, never. There was no need to point out every sheep, pig, or field of barley. After the first three times, I think we all got it. The bus was comfortable and easily accessed. I appreciated the early morning pick up near our hotel. Stonehenge was amazing but after visiting the bathroom, with lines of course, and getting the shuttle bus to the stones, there was precious little time to spare. I never got to the exhibit or to stroll through the recreated 11th century village. We needed more time...even one-half hour would have been nice. Bath is a lovely city. We did have the tour of the Roman baths. They are a great example of Roman architecture. If you have never been to Italy, this is a must see. If you have been to Italy, you can easily skip this and take in the other sites there. The squares were lovely with local musicians playing and singing. There were nice, unique shops and restaurants. I would have loved to go to the Jane Austin house, but, alas, my husband hadn't a clue. Next time I'll bring another Austin reader! We could have had a little less time in Bath and more in Stonehenge.

My husband and I did the Stonehenge, Bath , Windsor and Lacock tour which we enjoyed immensely. The tour guide Sev was absolutely briiliant . Apart from being extremely informative she also was very attentive and went out of her way to ensure all the people on board were looked after. I was so inspired by this tour that my husband and I are going to take a trip back to Lacock for a few days break. We will definitely book a tour with Premium Tours again and thank you Sev you are a star keep up the good work !!

I had very enjoyable day on the 28.10.16 with Premium Tours. The tour guide, Tara, was very knowledgeable. Only point of confusion for me was in the morning at Victoria Coach Station. I was at Gate 16 very early and then I want to Gate 1 when there wasn't any sign of the coach. Anyway I should have stayed at Gate 16. I know you could spend a full day in either Windsor or Bath but I liked hitting three birds with one stone so to speak. Pick up point, directions and timings at the locations was spot on and we didn't lose anyone. I didn't have any sleep the night before so it was nice to get some shut eye on the coach in between Tara's very insightful commentary. The highlight for me was Bath. I don't know, it was just the atmosphere from the moment I stepped off the coach. I was overcome with a feeling of nostalgia when I stopped and listened to some people singing near the square beside the Roman Baths.

Had a wonderful time. Tour guide Steve was very informative and our driver Natalie was very nice and prompt. I would book their tour again.

I was planning a day trip to Stonehenge from London and after doing research on tour groups, I decided to go with Premium Tours (over Golden Tours and Evan Evans Tours; all were comparable). This review is for the Windsor Castle, Stonehenge, and Bath trip, which ended up being one of the highlights of our London vacation. Our tour guide was Richard with bus driver Chris, and they were both great! The tour was well organized; Richard kept us on schedule and was informative about each point of interest. Since tour guides were not permitted to spew facts inside the venues (since it would be too chaotic with the dozens of tour groups there at the same time), each stop had its own audio guide included. Both Windsor Castle and Bath provided a digital audio guide with headsets, while Stonehenge had a QR code to download an app and listen on your own device. However, the DIY audio guide method does require you to pace yourself and make sure you get back to the bus on time. Premium Tours has the tour set up so that you arrive at Windsor Castle slightly before it opens. It requires some queuing, but this gets the day going quicker to allow for ample time at all of the sites. This efficient level of planning was one of the reasons that I decided to book with Premium Tours. Admittedly, some of the stops felt rushed (you will NOT get to read and study every object on display at any of the museums with this itinerary), but we were generally able to see what we wanted to see in the time allotted (and that's the trade-off of going with a tour group - you pay for the planning and transportation convenience but on someone else's schedule). They did provide us with a fair amount of time at each location. For example, when we arrived in Bath at 3:35pm, we were given exactly two hours, until 5:35pm to be back on the bus. One could've easily blamed traffic for the delay and given us until 5:30pm, but no complaints about giving us a full two hours. A lot of other people on the tour group were able to breeze through the stops with plenty of time for them to visit the attraction, snap some pics, and explore the cities, grab a bite to eat, shop, etc. A couple things to note: - while it's not their preference, if you're not at any of the meeting points by the designated time, you will get left. (This seemed standard across all tour group companies.) - the first meeting spot at Victoria Coach Station is a bus hub for many tour groups. Make sure you know the name of your tour company and the tour stops so that you get in the right line. For example, there was a Windsor Castle, Stonehenge, Bath, Lacock, and pub lunch tour with Premium Tours (their most popular tour) which was boarding right next to our Windsor Castle, Stonehenge, and Bath tour group. The tours are similar but still different, and if you're not in the right line, your name won't be on their list (obviously), and you can't get on that bus. - this type of bus tour - three stops in one day - is not for everyone. If you want to take your time at any of the one stops, choose a different tour that allows you to fully explore each place. If you are someone who wants to listen to the entire duration of every clip for the audio tour, this tour style is not for you. - while we did opt to pay for all admissions when booking the tour, you are able to opt out of some entrance fees if you just want to explore the towns instead. A few people in our tour group decided to walk about Bath instead of pay for the Roman Baths entry. - the bus had a bathroom (recommended for emergencies only); no charging ports were available on the bus (but none were promised). Onboard WiFi was advertised but it didn't work for me. They requested no hot food/drinks to be consumed on the bus - they did enforce safety and requested everyone buckle up while riding - we were allowed to leave stuff on the bus at each stop. I took advantage of this and was able to travel light at each stop; the bus was locked and I felt safe leaving my things unattended - while there are places to grab a quick bite at each stop, it cuts into your visiting time at the attraction (and could be a tourist trap), so bring snacks or a bagged lunch if you want to save time/money - the drop-off location (Gloucester Road underground station) was different than the pick-up point (Victoria Coach Station) - this was clearly communicated when booking the tour, stated on the confirmation booking, and reiterated by the tour guide. At the end of the trip, our tour guide Richard went above and beyond and made sure everyone on the bus knew what route to take to get home (shout-out to Richard!) I would book with Premium Tours again.

We did a tour of Bath with a sunset inner circle trip of Stonehenge. Excellent tour guide and experience! One of the highlights of our vacation.

Bath

The tour itself was good and my son enjoyed the vintage double decker bus quite a bit! We took the options with the London Eye and when dropped off at the location, there was no indication the bus would be moving on. When we found this out and it would be taking tour stroller with them, we circled back to get it with another driver. However, rather than communicating to wait the few minutes, the driver drove off with our stroller. They placed in Victoria station room which closed at 6:30pm. So we had to cab there and back to miss our reservation for later event. When I explained the situation and asked for money back, I was denied and told I was "fortunate" they didn't dump it in coach yard further away! There are a lot of choices of tours and premium tours shows an indifference to helping their customers. So I recommend finding another company to choose

I recently took a solo trip to London and decided to book the tour to Windsor Castle, Stonehenge, Bath, and the pub dinner in Lacock. It was an amazing and very packed day, I got to see so much. The tour guide Steve and driver Christian were both amazing and made the day so much fun! All of the stops were amazing, and the little visits made me want to go back and explore even more! I will definitely book another tour next time I go back! I also have to say I felt totally comfortable and safe going on this tour alone!

Premium Tours was excellent. Two words: Nicholas and Ricardo . Nicholas (guide) and Ricardo (driver) made our trip a great experience when they took us to Stonehenge, Bath, Lacock, etc. Nicholas was super awesome in keeping my son engaged when we thought it would be the "boring" part for our first visit to London. Nicholas was very efficient in making sure we are all on time from the start (one of the first groups in, first out) to ensure we spend less time in lines and for us to enjoy the next parts of the trip...at the end gave us a bonus tour (keeping it a secret for u to find out when u book with them). Meal at Lacock was also delicious. One thing I regret is that we should have taken this tour at the very start instead of the end of our London vacation coz Nicholas had very heartfelt tips for a great London experience.

Peter from Enfield was our tour guide extraordinaire. He clearly loves what he does, which showed in his enthusiasm, knowledge, humor, and wit. He's a non-stop talking machine, but manages to do so without aggravating my tinnitus. I chose the Stonehenge tour, which included the special inner-circle access. I selected the afternoon departure (there is a morning option, but damn it leaves early. Blech!). The sequence was: the city of Bath for a tour of the Roman Bathhouse, then to Stonehenge, then to Lacock for a final meal. For me, the Roman Baths was the least interesting, though I know a lot of people will like this sort of museum visit. You get to walk through a well-organized museum with an optional audio guide. Some of it was interesting, but some of it was just boring 'museum stuff' I was much more fond of walking around the city itself, and trying out a pastie from a place recommended by Peter. It was absolutely delicious. You don't get a ton of time, but I felt it was just enough. The Stonehenge tour is certainly the highlight. Getting into the circle, up close and personal with the stones, is a must for Stonehenge, in my opinion. They will have their own dedicated guide here which is hit or miss according to Peter. I thought initially that the large group would not make for good photos, but you get about an hour and at some point, it's likely the space will clear enough for a people-less photo.. not to mention everyone is trying to get the same photos so people are normally good about vacating an area if you want a photo. They also divvy up the groups in consideration of this. By the end, it didn't feel crowded and it will only be with people from the group you started out with on the bus. The village of Lacock is the (in our case dinner) stop of the tour. The food is not terrible, but extremely average and very overpriced. Very clever that they won't list prices anywhere beforehand. There's no obligation to purchase food, but I expect their main source of income is the few tour groups that come through, so it is expected. If there's time, you'll get a quick tour of the village with Harry Potter locations included. Since it is a village with actual residents, it felt a bit intrusive to me, but I suppose HP fans gotta HP fan. Even the bus ride is entertaining, as Peter will point out an immense amount of sights along the way. How does he know so much? But he also gives everyone sleep time, so don't worry about hearing him blab non-stop. At the end of the tour, on the ride home, he even will come up to each tourist and chat with them for a while. He really adds such a nice personal touch. I have to give him perfect marks. Shoutout to Sean the driver as well, whose driving skills are unparalleled. Keep in mind if you choose the morning tour, the sequence of stops will be different. They also make a point to say that stuff happens, and there's always a possibility the tour will be imperfect due to unforeseen circumstances like traffic or weather. In our case, it was flawless, but they definitely run a tight ship. Don't be one of those... according to Peter he's left plenty of people behind, ha!

The Stonehenge, Windsor Castle, and Bath with Pub Lunch in Lacock with Premium Tours was so great! We did so much this day and learnt so much. Annamaria was so informative and talked about what we passed by on the bus, what we should expect during the day, and talked about the history of the places we went. She was very organized and made sure we knew where the coach bus would be waiting and were on time to return to the bus. The tour departed at Victoria Coach Station Gate 19 at 8:00am and concluded near Gloucester Road underground station at approximately 8:30pm. We were on a double decker bus and we had 70 people on our tour. The bus was comfortable. First stop was Windsor Castle. Unfortunately, Windsor Castle is closed on Tuesdays & Wednesdays so we just explored the outside and the town. There were many shops to explore. We spent about 2 hours here. The next stop was Stonehenge. This is the most famous prehistoric monument in the world and now a world heritage site. From the coach parking lot, we have to take a shuttle to the Stonehenge and we walked around all angles to view the Stonehenge. The shuttle was very quick and came frequently. On the bus, we were provided with 4 options to choose for lunch (fish & chips, burger, cheese plate, and pasta). We had to inform our tour guide which option we wanted and if we wanted a drink so the pub could have the food and drink ready for us. I ordered the fish & chips and sweet cider. The food was good and filling. Lunch was at 3:00pm in a 14th century pub in Lacock. Our tour guide also showed us the house that was used as Harry Potter's childhood home in the movies in Lacock. The last stop was Bath. Bath is another world heritage site. Due to traffic and things that could come up, we were informed in the beginning of the day to not book the Roman Baths ticket yet because there could be a chance it'll be too late. Thankfully, we were able to secure tickets to the Roman Baths and make it. This was such a cool place to visit. I wish we had a little more time to explore it, but we did see everything. I liked how Annamaria would get off the bus with us to show us around first and then give us free time. It helped that she reinforced what time and how to return to the coach bus and recommended some places for us to check out. On our way back to London, we stopped 10 minutes at a rest stop so people can use the toilets if needed. Annamaria was very thoughtful and took the time to speak to each group to ensure everyone knew how to get to where they were going next and if anyone needed recommendations. Chris was a great and safe driver. We booked this tour through Viator and there were no issues. This tour is a long day, but you get to learn and see so much. If you have time to take this tour, I would recommend it.

Let me sum up our experience in two words "NEVER AGAIN" We took a double decker coach which held about 90 folks and one tour guide. 90 folks crowded around one guide who really didn't show any concern whether or not folks could hear him. I'll skip the Oxford experience as it was the Downton experience we, and pretty much all the bus, were Americans interested in Downton Abbey. I'm not really sure the guide watched Downton Abbey much but it was clear he wasn't a very knowledgeable guide. One instance, in Brampton, we asked if the wall and park leading to the church was used in filming the town park scenes. He said no, they were filmed elsewhere. It looked so familiar we asked the sales folks selling memorabilia in the library the same question and got an answer covering the many scenes ... with example photos in the memorabilia they were selling. Our feeling is he probably knew enough to get his tour guide license but just didn't exhibit the passion about his trade. We expected more. We wound up searching Google for sites and scenes filmed at Highclere Castle - like the cricket game was filmed on the grounds. More info from the web than from a $175 tour Not a tour issue, but Highclere appeared more interested in presenting house memorabilia than Downton Abbey. No pictures allowed inside the castle. We must have missed that tidbit in the literature leading up to the visit. We took a tour of Ted Lasso in Richmond the next day and we're blown away on the knowledge, energy and accommodation of that tour guide. So Premium Tours? NEVER AGAIN

Photo of Linda W.

Left behind. I was slower than everyone, the guide counted us at the stops and I was always last to arrive. I stopped momentarily during the tour to tie my shoe. Lost the group. There was no finding them. Just gone. I feel like the guide didn't really care about someone slower. I ended up pretty lost and unsure as I was solo (first time in London)!! Just be sensitive to those not as fast as you. It was frustrating and I missed out on over half the tour.

Photo of Amanda B.

Date of tours: August 2022 We did THREE Premium Tours on our London trip: Highclere Castle, Harry Potter Studio Tour, and the Paris tour where you ate lunch in the Eiffel Tower. I would recommend all of them, but they are very different experiences. The Highclere Castle trip was my favorite. It wasn't rushed but it was a very full day! The tour guide was knowledgeable and very friendly. It was by far the best planned trip. The Harry Potter Studio tour isn't much in comparison. It was a ride to and from the studios and provided tickets to the attraction, which is what was advertised. The Paris tour does succeed in getting the highlights of the city in one day, but it was extremely rushed, which may not be able to be avoided considering the time restraint. Overall, I had no issues with this company and would recommend using their services. It made getting places from London a total breeze.

The grandeur of the Roman Baths in Bath will leave you in awe. This UNESCO World Heritage site invites you to explore the exceptionally preserved ruins of one of the most incredible religious spas of the ancient world. Thousands of Roman objects found on-site over the years are on display, i.e. the Haruspex stone and a gilt bronze head of the goddess Sulis Minerva, one of the best-known objects from Roman Britain .

As you wander through the complex, marvel at the grandeur of the Great Bath , where Romans once bathed in the healing waters that still bubble up from beneath the earth. The intricate architecture, adorned with classical columns and statues, allows you to visualise the luxury and sophistication that defined Roman bathing rituals.

Golden Tours - Warner Bros. Studio - The Making of Harry Potter

How to find the golden tours office and how to board the harry potter studio bus.

Golden Tours bus Warner Bros. Studio Tour London - the Making of Harry Potter

What's it like going on a Golden Tours tour of the Harry Potter Studio?

Despite its name Warner Bros. Studio Tour London is not in London itself but located just outside London, in Watford, around an hour's journey each way.

At present, three tour companies offer a combination ticket with much sought after Warner Bros. Studio Tour London tickets with transfers from central London, (see menu, right) and in addition there is another tour: International Friends Warner Bros. Studio with Oxford.

The most popular tour is the Golden Tours tour; this page gives a summary of the experience with Golden Tours. We also have a separate page Warner Bros. Studio Tour London - The Making of Harry Potter - what to expect - which gives more detail on the Studio itself.

Book Harry Potter Studio tickets   Harry Potter shuttle tickets   Golden Tours Harry Potter tour details   Location Golden Tours office   Facilities at Golden Tours office   On board Golden Tours buses   Arrival at Studios   What will I see?   Return to Victoria or Kings Cross

Is there any real difference between Harry Potter tour companies?

The Golden Tours Warner Bros. Studio Tour offer is very similar to that offered by Evan Evans and Premium Tours, except Golden Tours use a Harry Potter branded double decker bus (showing one of the Harry Potter movies) whilst the others use traditional touring coaches. It would be fair to say that the tours themselves are all the same once you arrive at Harry Potter, purely because that is the studio itself. Price and how you get there is the main difference along with departure locations and timings of available tours.

We partner with Travel Compendium to offer the best value tickets. These can be through Evans Evans and Golden Tours depending upon availability. If your heart is set on the Harry Potter themed coach to travel to the studio then you need to select the Golden Tours ticket, which are options 3 and 4 on their website and leave from Baker Street and Kings Cross. Evans Evans tours leave from Victoria and Russell Square.

Ticket guide prices with transport from London

  • Adult tickets (16 years +) vary in price depending on season but are around £95pp on average.
  • Child tickets (5 - 15 years old) are around £85pp on average.
  • Children 3-4 years of age - entry to Harry Potter is free but there is an average of £40pp charge for the transport.
  • Children 0-2 years of age - free entry and transport.

Golden Tours Harry Potter Tour - tour details

Harry Potter Studio Golden Tours bus outside Studio

The tour runs every day that Warner Bros. Studio Tour London is open, which is daily year round .

There are many departures each day with pick ups in London between 7.30am and 4pm returning to London around 7 hours later.

There are two different tours running with Golden Tours - one that departs from Victoria and Baker Street, and another that leaves from Kings Cross.

Our banner above uses two coach companies, Evan Evans and Golden Tours. If you specifically want a Golden Tours tour then you can either use the link above to buy from Baker Street or King's Cross, or visit the Golden Tours website to buy a ticket from Victoria.

The buses drop off at the same three points. Journey time is around one hour, depending on traffic conditions.

Where is the Golden Tours office to board the Harry Potter bus in London?

Victoria Coach Station / Railway Station Map

The main departure bus terminus is at the  Golden Tours Office on Buckingham Palace Road,  in a building just down the road from Victoria Train Station. Victoria is a major hub in central London and easy to get to.

The address to pick up the coach from is: Bus Stop 1, Bulleid Way, Victoria, London, SW1W 9SH

The office is separate (across the road to) Victoria Coach Station.  The outside of the building has colonnades and is unmarked with no tour operator’s details on the outside . There will often be a Golden Tours bus parked outside which is helpful in finding it.

Baker Street

The second pick-up point is at Baker Street, again a strategic location with a major Underground station very close to Madame Tussauds. This is convenient if you are staying in a  hotel district close to Hyde Park, Marble Arch  or the  St Pancras ,  Bloomsbury area .

Kings Cross

Pancras Road, Bus Stop T, London NW1 2SD. The interactive map on Golden Tour's web page shows precisely where the bus stop is in relation to the station.

What facilities are there in and around the Golden Tours office in Victoria?

Golden Tours office in Victoria, London

The reception area is quite large and well lit but there are no seats, except for those in the eateries surrounding the office.

Food, drink and gifts

You can use this time to grab something to eat – there are many places around to buy lunch or snacks and drinks - or maybe even purchase a gift from the London gift shop in the vicinity.

There are no public toilets in the immediate area; you can if you wish use the loos from one of the surrounding shops, but you need to make a purchase to do this.

There is no Wi-Fi in the waiting area at the office, but there is Wi-Fi on the Golden Tours Bus.

Check in closes fifteen minutes before advertised boarding time, but the bus does not actually depart for a further thirty minutes.

The order of queuing is the order of entry onto the bus, so if you are first in the queue you will get first choice of seat. Just before you go on the bus have your paper ticket(s) ready for checking.

You will be given an envelope with your Warner Bros. Studio Tour London tickets inside and also return tickets for your shuttle back to the bus station, and the time of meeting.

On board the Golden Tours bus to the Harry Potter studios in Watford, London

Harry potter movie aboard top deck.

The top deck is popular with everyone choosing to sit up here; from here you have a nice view of some of the sights of London and you can also see two screens, where they show one of the Harry Potter films. This is particularly useful if you have children! The film does not start playing until all passengers have been picked up from Baker Street.

Free Wi-Fi on board

There is free Wi-Fi on board the Golden Tour buses.

There are no toilets on board the bus so it is best to go before you leave.

Food and drink

Hot food and drink is not permitted on the coach, but you can eat simple cold snacks.

The bus is not a guided bus, therefore there is a driver only. Driving to the Studio Tour, the driver does not make a commentary, so any questions are best directed beforehand to the office assistant who can advise you in the queue.

There is no luggage storage on board the bus; at Victoria Railway Station and Coach Station there are left luggage facilities where you can pay a nominal fee and leave your cases all day until you return.

Alternatively you can leave small suitcases, coats and bags free of charge at the Warner Bros. Studio Tour London, in the Lobby cloakroom.

Arrival & admission to the Harry Potter studios

Cloackroom at Warner Bros. Studio Tour London

The bus takes you to just a hundred metres or so from the entrance, and then you are left to walk inside independently. Upon entry you will have your bag checked and then you are free to walk inside into the lobby.

Your arrival time will allow you about twenty minutes to queue, ready for your pre-booked entry time into the Studio Tour itself.

Please note, there is a bag check before you go inside. If you need somewhere to store any small suitcases (or coats and bags) you may have, you can do this free of charge in the lobby cloakroom.

Pushchairs are also encouraged to be left here if possible due to the restricted amount of space in the Studio Tour.

Opposite the cloakroom, also in the lobby, is a digital guide desk where you can hire digital guides for the duration of your tour.

Warner Bros. Studio Tour London - what will I see?

We have a dedicated page detailing what to expect once inside the studios.

Warner Bros. Studio Tour London - full detail

Return journey to Victoria or Baker Street or Kings Cross

Harry Potter tickets and passports - Golden Tours

After 4.5 hours, it is time to leave the Studio Tour, and make your way to your Golden Tours bus, which will be waiting just outside.

The driver will be standing outside the bus; you show your return tickets and hop on.

The entire tour takes around 7 hours including travelling time.

On your return journey you can sit back and watch the remainder of the Harry Potter movie you started on your way over, remembering where all the magic began.
