How to Plan the Ultimate Travel-Themed Bridal Shower
Emily is a former editorial assistant for MarthaStewart.com.
Celebrate the bride's next big adventure (marriage) with a party perfect for aspiring globetrotters.
The journey to marriage is a big one in and of itself, which is reason enough to design the bride-to-be's shower around adventure. But if you're still not sure if that's the way to go, ask yourself a few simple questions. Is she planning a destination wedding ? Is she super excited about her upcoming vacation (a.k.a. her honeymoon)? Does she list "travel" as a hobby on social media? Is she an aspiring globetrotter? If the answer to any of those questions is "yes," you've just found the perfect theme for your celebration. And now that you've got that decided, it's time for some inspiration. Lucky for you, we've rounded up some of the best travel-themed bridal shower ideas.
There are a whole bunch of elements related to traveling that you can incorporate into your event. First, think about what people use to travel. This can be anything from maps to luggage to modes of transportation—planes, cars, and even hot air balloons included! Second, consider specific destinations and ways you can nod to their culture. These can be places the bride-to-be already loves or locations she's going to (or wants to visit) in the future. Stick with either focus (the act of traveling or travel destinations) or combine the two.
For example, this De Coeur Bake Shop cake was travel-themed in two ways. First, the continents were illustrated on its bottom tier. Second, Mint Design placed it atop a stack of suitcases. That's just one of many beautiful and creative ideas we've found.
Girls' Trip
Plan a girls' trip, whether it's to a faraway location or the host's house for a sleepover-style "staycation." It's less about where you go and more about treating the celebration like a getaway. Locklane Weddings & Events planned this party, which took place at Walker Inn Bed & Breakfast .
Suitcase Décor
These Mimosa Fresh Flower Design blooms were arranged inside SOWA Vintage Market luggage. Create something similar for statement centerpieces.
Map Signage
Queen J. Productions created this sweet wreath using maps turned into paper flowers. Illustrations of the bride and groom, plus a travel-themed banner quote, made it perfectly personalized.
Regional Food
Serve regional fare to celebrate the destination(s) your party's themed around. This Belle's Catering menu featured Southern food, for example.
Turn your favorite form of transportation into a statement detail. This One Fine Day event featured The California Cocktail Camper as its mobile bar.
Globe Guest Book
Skip the traditional guestbook and ask attendees to sign a globe. If the décor piece looks anything like this one did, you'll want to put it on display for years to come.
Post Card Activity
Ask guests to write marriage (or travel!) advice on postcards, which can later be mailed to the couple.
Travel-Themed Quotes
Oaks + Gray Paper created this cute sign, which read: "Traveling from Miss to Mrs."
Upgrade your place settings with map placemats. These ones came from Sweet Story Studio .
Landmark Invitations
One + Only Paper designed these pretty invites, which featured artwork showcasing different landmarks.
Hot Air Balloon Favors
These transportation-themed succulent favors contained Gold Leaf Event Design & Production place cards, which were adorably shaped like hot air balloons.
Talk about an easy idea—just decorate with little flags wherever you please. We recommend buying ones that represent the couple's nationalities, as well as all of the guests!
Sugar Euphoria baked this incredible cake, which featured a map design on its bottom tier.
Travel-Themed Photo Props
Offer up some travel-themed signage that guests can pose with in photos. This Letters to You prop read, "Say yes to new adventures," playing off the bride's engagement.
Camping Venue
You don't need to travel to a luxe campsite for a little bit of glamping. Just set up a tent (or a few) at home and decorate accordingly—this one was DIYed.
Map Initials
Honor the couple by turning their initials into décor—travel-themed décor, of course. These DIY letters were covered with maps.
Luggage Tag Favors
Send everybody home with the tools to travel. (This is especially corteous for a destination wedding!) These luggage tag favors came in bags tied with stylish Froufrou Chic ribbon.
Airplane Accents
Toast to globetrotting couples with glasses adorned with paper airplanes. Cheryl Dolfo calligraphed these drink tags.
Adventure-Themed Signage
Really, we love any signage that nods to the theme (and the upcoming marriage), including this "let the adventure begin" one by Feather and Birch , The Bloom & Co. , and Tono + Co.
Ramble & Prose
Musings of a wandering writer
Ramble & Prose: Let The Journey Begin!
“ A journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step”. — Lao Tzu
I have always been passionate about writing. From a young age, I started documenting my life through diaries and journals. I would write my deepest darkest secrets on the lined pages of my notebooks, then carefully tuck them away from view. Putting pen to paper and seeing what words would spill out of my brain and onto the pages has always been therapeutic. Writing has been a constant in my life. Whether it’s a journal entry, a handwritten letter, or a strongly worded email, writing has always given me the freedom to express myself. As a card-carrying, textbook introvert, I often find writing a welcome escape when my social battery is running on empty. Of course, my writing has evolved over the years. My writing style and topics have changed. However, I’ve never lost my desire to communicate my thoughts, hopes, and dreams through the written word.
For the better part of the past year, I’ve been writing professionally for a travel and entertainment blog, and I’m proud to say I have over 200 published articles. I am incredibly grateful for the experience and mentorship I received in that role. That said, I couldn’t ignore the little voice nagging me to step out of my comfort zone and pursue the stories I wanted to tell. Today, I am embarking on a new writing journey, and I’m so happy to have you join me! Ramble & Prose is my travel and adventure blog, where I will highlight places I hope will inspire folks to get out and explore more. Each article will be a first-person account featuring my photographs, insights, and perspective. I’m happy to have you along for the ride. Let the journey begin!
Thank you for stopping by. I look forward to exploring with you! If you have ideas about places you’d like me to cover, send them my way! Who knows? Maybe your suggestion will make it into a future blog post! Don’t forget to follow Ramble & Prose on Instagram for more adventures, photos, and videos. Life is short. Get out and explore!

Can Stock Photo has now ceased operations.
After nearly 20 years in business we have been forced to make this very difficult decision and would like to thank our many thousands of talented contributors and customers for making it possible. The industry has changed significantly over this time, with CanStock launched in 2004 during the early mass adoption of digital cameras, and before "social media" was even a phrase. Today of course everyone has a capable digital camera in their pocket, and the advent of AI means amazing images can be created from programs with just a few keywords. Decreased business and increasing costs has made it no longer possible to keep operating, to our great disappointment.
Thank you for everything,
- The Can Stock Photo Team

Writing this from an authentic Bangkok hostel with 8 minutes of coin-prepaid internet remaining on the dial I wanted to introduce myself and lead into the series of International Experience (IE) posts we will all be contributing over the next 3 weeks from different corners of the world. My official IE trip begins on Monday the 6th in Dhaka and will continue through rural Bangladesh and into Vietnam. Our professor and TAs have put together an amazing schedule of diverse visits and a Bonsai River cruise for treat. Right now though, it's all fun and games with a group of about 20 people I didn't know a year ago. They are all disbursing to different IE destinations (some of them blogging about their trips) in SE Asia, but we are spending Spring break together in Thailand. 2 minutes on the clock and the group is ready to head to JJ Market in Bangkok!

Construction starting on $12 billion high-speed rail between SoCal, Las Vegas
The project is touted as the first true high-speed passenger rail line in the nation, designed to reach speeds of 186 mph.
RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif. (KABC) -- Construction is expected to begin Monday on a $12 billion high-speed passenger rail line between Southern California and Las Vegas.
Brightline West aims to lay 218 miles of new track between a terminal to be built just south of the Las Vegas Strip and another new facility in Rancho Cucamonga. That trip usually takes well over three hours by car.
The company says its fully-electric train will take just over two hours each way.
Almost the full distance is to be built in the median of Interstate 15, with a station stop in the Victorville area.
Forecasts are for 11 million one-way passengers per year, or some 30,000 per day, with fares well below airline travel costs. The trains will offer rest rooms, Wi-Fi, food and beverage sales and the option to check luggage.
In a statement, Brightline Holdings founder and Chairperson Wes Edens called the moment "the foundation for a new industry."
Brightline aims to link other U.S. cities that are too near to each other for flying between them to make sense and too far for people to drive the distance, Edens said.
The project is scheduled to be complete by the time Los Angeles hosts the Summer Olympics in 2028.
U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg on Monday will join Brightline leaders at the start of the construction in Vegas. Brightline received $6.5 billion in backing from the Biden administration, including a $3 billion grant from federal infrastructure funds and approval to sell another $2.5 billion in tax-exempt bonds. The company won federal authorization in 2020 to sell $1 billion in similar bonds.
The construction is expected to create jobs for many in Southern California.
"We're looking at thousands of jobs as a result of this and hundreds of millions of dollars of investments, and that impact is going to be felt for years to come," said Rancho Cucamonga City Manager John Gillison. "This project will have a big impact on California, and especially Southern California."
Other fast trains
The project is touted as the first true high-speed passenger rail line in the nation, designed to reach speeds of 186 mph (300 kph), comparable to Japan's Shinkansen bullet trains.
Florida-based Brightline Holdings already operates the Miami-to-Orlando line with trains reaching speeds up to 125 mph (200 kph). It launched service in 2018 and expanded service to Orlando International Airport last September. It offers 16 round-trips per day, with one-way tickets for the 235-mile (378-kilometer) distance costing about $80.
Other fast trains in the U.S. include Amtrak's Acela, which can top 150 mph (241 kph) while sharing tracks with freight and commuter service between Boston and Washington, D.C.
Ideas for connecting other U.S. cities with high-speed passenger trains have been floated in recent years, including Dallas to Houston; Atlanta to Charlotte, North Carolina; and Chicago to St. Louis. Most have faced delays.
In California, voters in 2008 approved a proposed 500-mile (805-kilometer) rail line linking Los Angeles and San Francisco, but the plan has been beset by rising costs and routing disputes. A 2022 business plan by the California High-Speed Rail Authority projected the cost had more than tripled to $105 billion.
The Associated Press contributed to this report.

You wouldn't say "Let him goes". In both sentences, go and begin are bare infinitives, not 3rd person singular of present simple. Furthermore the adventure is a subject in the example "The adventure begins", but in the other one "Let the adventure begin" it is an object.
