Considered the most influential Latin rock band in the world, MANÁ continues to transcend generations with their music. MANÁ – meaning positive energy in Polynesian – began in 1986 when four friends from Guadalajara, Mexico came together to fuse new rock sounds with Latin and Caribbean rhythms. The group includes Fher Olvera as vocalist, guitarist and main composer, Alex González on drums, Sergio Vallín on lead guitar, and Juan Diego Calleros on bass. The group released their first album, Falta Amor in 1990. In 1992, they released ¿Dónde Jugarán los Niños?  which sold more than 10 million copies worldwide, becoming the best-selling Spanish-language rock album of all time.

MANÁ is one of the highest selling Latin touring acts of all time. From their first show in Los Angeles at the Hollywood Palace in 1993 to their ongoing, historic residency at the Kia Forum on the Rayando El Sol Tour, MANÁ has established themselves as a powerhouse in the city. Their residency has sold over 165,000 tickets to date across 12 sold-out shows.

MANÁ has sold millions of albums around the world and has released 11 albums of original songs along with several live albums and compilations. MANÁ’s many accolades additionally include their handprints on the Hollywood Rockwalk and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, making them the first Spanish-language rock band to receive that honor. Their influence also spans beyond music. For 30 years, the Selva Negra Ecological Foundation has been the social arm of MANÁ, combining conservation and environmental rescue with social development. Throughout their career, the band has been a vocal advocate for issues impacting their fans around the globe. Most recently the band joined forces with Dr. Anthony Fauci in support of President Joe Biden’s Month of Action to encourage vaccination among the US Latino population.

MANÁ has 133 Certified Gold Albums, 256 Certified Platinum albums, 4 GRAMMY Awards, 9 Latin GRAMMY Awards, 26 Billboard Latin Music Awards, 15 Premio Lo Nuestro Awards, and honors such as the 2018 Latin Billboard Lifetime Achievement Award & 2018 Latin Grammy Person of the Year Award and more recently the 2021 ICONO LATIN BILLBOARD Award.

Their current collaboration project, which began in 2019, revisits some of their greatest songs, accompanied by renowned and diverse artists.

The most recent release -“Te Llore Un Rio,” featuring Christian Nodal (pop and maricheño), has been one of their most successful releases of their current duet project so far, trending in over 15 countries across North America and Latin America at the time of release. Spanish singer Pablo Alborán joined them in 2019 with “Rayando el Sol”, Sebastian Yatra in “No Ha Parado de Llover,” Joy Huerta in “Eres Mi Religion”, “El Reloj Cucú” with 12-year-old Mabel, and “Mariposa Traicionera” with Regional Mexican superstar Alejandro Fernandez.

Hailed as Mexico's answer to U2, Maná are a hugely successful rock act who have achieved countless awards and accolades, including four Grammy Awards and seven Latin Grammy Awards, making them one of the most successful Spanish-speaking rock acts.

Formed in Guadalajara, Mexico, the band came together in 1986, featuring the talents of Fher Olvero (vocals), Ulises Calleros (guitars), Juan Diego Calleros (bass) and Alex González (drums). Despite initially signing with Polygram Records, the band soon moved to Warner Music, citing creative differences prompting the move.

Their debut album, "Falta Amor," arrived in 1992, initially slow to find success until the single, "Rayando el Sol" became a hit the following year. After the release, lineup changes saw Ulises replaced by keyboardist Iván González and guitarist Cesar Lopez, before then embarking on their second effort. In 1994, "Donde Jugaran Los Niños" was unleashed, becoming a seminal record that brought Maná superstardom in the Latin-rock world. Spawning several hits, the album went on to sell over 3 million copies, prompting an international tour.

Their third effort, "En Vivo," captured the band's live energies in 1995, featuring their new guitarist, Sergio Vallin, replacing Lopez. Folowing the album "Sueños Liquidos" in 1997, Maná became global stars outside of the Spanish-speaking world, receiving airplay on MTV, as well as featuring in their "Unplugged" series in 1999.

Success could only continue for Maná, whose 2002 "Revolución de Amor" earned them a Grammy Award for 'Best Latin Rock/Alternative Album.' Their sixth studio effort, "Amar Es Combatir" went on to become the highest charting debut of a Spanish-language album on the Billboard 200 in 2007, as well as earning them another Grammy Award. It was five years before new Maná releases arrived, in the form of "Drama y Luz" in 2011, which again stormed the Billboard 200, reaching number five. Two years later, "En Toda Libertad" was released, continuing to find commercial success.

Live reviews

Multicolored strobe lights flash, the band members walk onto the smoky stage, and as the opening chords to “Rayando El Sol” begin, the audience belt out the lyrics before Fher Olvera gets the chance. Mana brings a bright, manic, infectious positive energy to the stage, and the crowd is immediately affected. Everyone is smiling, singing, and having a good time when Mana comes in concert. Just when you think it can't get any better, Alex Gonzalez smashes out an epic drum solo and the night is made.

Mana are arguably the most successful Latin rock band in the world, having won seven Latin Grammy Awards, four Grammy Awards, fourteen Billboard Latin Music Awards and five MTV Video Music Awards. Their track record itself is a demonstration of their success. They have also set records in both concert attendance and record sales, and if you listen to their music, it's not hard to see why. They produce excellent music on every one of the albums they have recorded, from Falta Amor, released in 1990, to En Toda Libertad in 2013. Their music has roots in Latin pop, pop rock, ska, and reggae.

Whether you're in the front row high fiving the band members or in the farthest seats from the stage, Mana are a must see. They pick epic song sets, using a range from their classics to their new songs and everything in between. Not only do they have awesome songs, but they bring the audience in and make them a part of the show too. If you want to listen to hours of great music and have an incredible night, go see a Mana concert.

Fher Olvera, Alex González, Sergio Vallín and Juan Calleros otherwise known as Mana are one of Mexico's most adored rock bands and their live show is equally adored by their loyal fan base. Often billed as Mexico's answer to U2, this veteran live act really knows how to put on a show for their crowds. Despite having formed almost 30 years ago, Fher and co step onto stage with the confident demeanour of a rock band half their age and enjoy the rapturous applause received by the audience.

Kicking off proceedings with an anthemic rendition of 'Oye mi amor' the crowd sing, dance and jump along in time with the latino rockers. Olvera whips them into frenzy and encourages them to rock out further to the likes of 'El dragón' which evokes massive cheers. Having scored numerous hits on both the US albums and singles chart, the audience know the band's discography well and remain engaged and enthusiastic throughout the show. They clap along during each band member's personal instrumental solo as they showcase their talents as musicians. Mana leaves the stage knowing they have successfully brought a rock party.

Mana is a hugely successful and popular Mexican rock band that have won countless awards including four of the heavily coveted Grammy awards and an incredible seven Latin Grammy awards. The band is one of the most successful Spanish speaking rock bands of all time, and certainly of modern times. Their concert hall was absolutely packed out with devoted fans, some of whom were so emotional and excited to see their heroes that they were close to tears. And there was more than a few people screaming hysterically, and this before the band had even emerged on stage! Mana have often been compared to U2, as the Spanish speaking equivalent. Judging by their live show, I could see why. Despite their ages, the band stepped on to stage looking and acting like young rock gods. They put on one hell of a show, a performance that was accompanied with flashing lights and strobes that really added to the atmosphere of the venue. The band played all their biggest hits, they had enough to play only their well known songs, which had the whole crowd screaming along.

The music was great. Expect for the remake of an already great song.

It was funny to see how most of the crowd wasn't into the remake. Sad that the band doesn't care about what the fans think.

It was also disappointing that the band had a political agenda. We all came to see a show, listen to some great music. But they couldn't just let that be.

Needles to say I will not be attending another MANA concert

Great concert...!The band is amazing live, they have great energy and interact with the crowd. By balancing their new stuff with their old stuff, they kept both new fans and old fans happy with the repertoire of the event, and make it even more intimate with the audience by performing acoustic. If you’ve never heard of Maná do it now! PS.I would love to see it again...

The concert was awesome, they are very interactive with the crowd. They had 3 different stages along the floor and played at all of them so that if you spent some good money to sit on floor you got your money's worth because they hit all the spots. Will definitely be going again, probably one of the better concerts that I've ever been to.

unfortunately we did not make it to the show. We drove 418 miles half way to Vegas our car broke down. We had to tow and get it fixed didn't make to to Vegas until 11.30pm. By that time Im sure the show was over....so wasted over $300 on a show we did not get to see. So upset about it.....

Mana had an energetic show with great sound. I had seats in the last row but could still see everything. They also had two stages set up which was a fantastic idea to allow more people to see them up close.

Convenient venue with easy parking or easy walking distance from several hotels.

Excelent show even with Fher losing his voice. People attending saved the concert singing all sings and helping Fher. Only one thing: they should stick to schedule. It is not respectful to have people waiting for more than one hour. No excuses on that

Saw them in Oct 2015 in CDMX. It was incredible! The drummer did an epic 12 min set and a couple proposed and danced onstage to Bendida la Luz. Not a dry eye in the house. Thry soumd great! I think I was the only non latino, but I was rocking out!

Mexican rock band Maná announced an unprecedented and ambitious residency at the LA Forum that will have them playing monthly shows at the Los Angeles venue, making it the only venue and only city where fans will be able to see the top-selling Latin rock band perform in 2022.

See latest videos, charts and news

The significance of the residency goes well beyond Latin music and is the most ambitious for the Forum in nearly a decade.

“Maná’s presence within Los Angeles and their live history at the Forum is immense, amongst any genre,” Geni Lincoln, GM/SVP of booking for the Forum, tells  Billboard . “Being able to conceive a pinnacle experience of this nature, in both the Forum’s as well as the band’s history, is beyond anything we have done since our 2014 renovation, and far outside the realm of what we normally see being produced at the Forum.”

Maná’s Fher Olvera and Mabel In Conversation At Billboard Latin Music Week: 5 Biggest…

Maná, the top-selling and top-touring Latin rock act in the world, already holds a rarefied position in both the history of Los Angeles and the Forum. In 2019, the group broke the record (held by Kanye West and the Eagles) as the first and only act to sell out seven dates at the Forum as part of a single tour since the venue’s reopening in 2014.

This time, the group is taking things many steps further.

“We aren’t playing anywhere else until people stop buying tickets,” Maná frontman Fher Olvera tells  Billboard in an exclusive interview ahead of the announcement. “And those tickets fly. They have wings. And we get very upset with reselling, so we’re going to keep prices accessible to all. We want to be democratic in every sense of the word.”

“Democratic” doesn’t mean modest, though. Olvera says Maná is going all out with the performances, moving 80 tons of equipment for each show, inviting guest artists to each performance and curating different set lists to provide different listening experiences every night.

“Saturday’s set list will be different from Friday’s — not totally because there are hits we have to play. But we will be playing different songs,” adds Olvera.

Maná to Play Record Seven Shows at L.A.'s Forum on 'Rayando el Sol' Tour: Exclusive

Produced by Live Nation, tickets to the run of shows go on sale Nov. 19 on Ticketmaster  for four dates — March 18 and 19, and April 22 and 23 — with new weekends added every month on a rolling basis until fans literally stop buying.

While such a plan might appear risky, it’s a very calculated risk.

“At the Forum, we had been hoping we would welcome an experience like the Billy Joel residency in New York,” says Lincoln. “We had an amazing experience with Maná during our shows in 2019 and a special working relationship with artist management, Jason Garner, and the promoter, Jared Braverman, where we began to build on what could be the next extraordinary experience for the fans as well as the band. We all wanted something that would be a real stand out.”

Likewise, both the venue and the city of Los Angeles held a special place for the band.

“Los Angeles has been like our second home,” said Olvera. “We call it the house of rock. And we like the Forum very much. It has privileged acoustics and no bounce, and it’s not too big or too small.”

Maná to Receive Icon Award at 2021 Billboard Latin Music Awards

The timing also worked for the band, which, unlike many other Latin acts, held back on restarting its touring, even as it recorded a new album and began rehearsals.

“We’ve been doing this 30 years, so to suddenly stop [due to the pandemic] isn’t easy,” said Olvera. “But I kept saying, ‘Don’t worry. We’re going to put together a great show. It’s not about getting there first, but knowing how to get there.’”

Aiming for 2022 also allows fans from Mexico and other Latin countries where touring has not yet kicked off properly to plan their trips to Los Angeles.

In the meantime, fans can get their Maná fix with a new version of “Mariposa traicionera,” alongside Alejandro Fernandez, that will be out this week.

“It’s a good tapatío partnership,” said Olvera, referring to the fact that both Fernandez and the band hail from Guadalajara. “Sergio Vallín [Maná’s virtuoso guitarist] made a new arrangement in the same vein, adding mariachi elements to the accordion. It’s gonna be good.”

Maná Announces their First U.S. Tour in 4 Years & Fans Are Losing It

mana concert 2022 tour dates

If you were looking for a concert to start your 2023 itinerary, look no further. Maná, one of the world’s most influential Latine rock bands, is bringing their “México Lindo y Querido” Tour to the U.S. early next year.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Maná (@manaoficial)

“The love we have for our race made us and the dreams of those kids from Guadalajara made us fly,” wrote the band in an Instagram caption announcing the tour. “México, lindo y querido, we sing to you here and wherever we go!”

The Mexican band will kick off the U.S. leg of the tour in Los Angeles on Feb. 10 and will play arenas in major cities, including Houston, Washington D.C., New York, Chicago, and Las Vegas before wrapping up in Sacramento, CA, on Sep. 23. The concert trek originally kicked off this past summer in Mexico before playing stadiums in Colombia and Puerto Rico .

The new tour marks the first time Maná is touring U.S. cities since their 2019 “Rayando el Sol Tour,” which concluded before the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. The group also performed a record-breaking arena residency in Los Angeles earlier this year.

After nearly four years away from their U.S. fans, Maná fans took to social media to express their excitement over the tour announcement.

The residency shows continue, April 22-23, June 24-25, July 15-16 and Sept. 17-18. Tickets are on sale at ticketmaster.com .

Considered the most influential Latin rock band in the world, MANÁ continues to transcend generations with their music. MANÁ - meaning positive energy in Polynesian - began in 1986 when four friends from Guadalajara, Mexico came together to fuse new rock sounds with Latin and Caribbean rhythms.

MANÁ's many accolades additionally include their handprints on the Hollywood Rockwalk and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, making them the first Spanish-language rock band to receive that honor.

Anthony Fauci in support of President Joe Biden's Month of Action to encourage vaccination among the US Latino population.

The most recent release -"Te Llore Un Rio," featuring Christian Nodal (pop and maricheño), has been one of their most successful releases of their current duet project so far, trending in over 15 countries across North America and Latin America at the time of release. Spanish singer Pablo Alborán joined them in 2019 with "Rayando el Sol", Sebastian Yatra in "No Ha Parado de Llover,'' Joy Huerta in "Eres Mi Religion", "El Reloj Cucú" with 12-year-old Mabel, and "Mariposa Traicionera" with Regional Mexican superstar Alejandro Fernandez.

Maná announces 2023 US tour dates, teases new album: 'We're planning way ahead' (exclusive)

mana concert 2022 tour dates

  • Mexican rock band Maná announced they will be performing in the U.S. in 2023 as part of their México Lindo y Querido tour.
  • The band will play two dates in Los Angeles at the Kia Forum.
  • Maná drummer Alex González told USA TODAY fans can expect a new studio album from the band as well.
  • "We're planning way ahead," he said. "We're just so excited to be able to do what we love."

For  Maná , it's never too early to plan ahead. The Grammy Award-winning Mexican rock band is ending 2022 on a high note with big plans for 2023.

After nearly four decades of hits – including "Rayando el Sol," "Oye Mi Amor," "Mariposa Traicionera," "Labios Compartidos" and "Bendita Tu Luz" – the band, composed of lead vocalist Fher Olvera, 62, drummer Alex González, 53, guitarist Sergio Vallín, 50, and bass player Juan Calleros, 60, has no plans to stop performing.

USA TODAY can exclusively reveal Maná is embarking on a new North American leg of their México Lindo Y Querido tour. "Next year looks amazing and we can't wait to be back on the road,"   González says. "We haven't toured the U.S." since just before the COVID-19 shutdown.

The 19-date U.S. tour kicks off Feb. 10 at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles, a return to the venue where  Maná played the city's first-ever arena residency last spring  with 12 sold-out shows.

The band will play two nights in major cities including Los Angeles, Phoenix, Miami and Chicago and will conclude the tour Sept. 23 in Sacramento, California. (For a full list of tour dates go here .)

Tickets go on sale Friday.

'Our second home': Maná announces residency at The Forum in Los Angeles in 2021

Now, Maná is "bringing a little piece of México" with their new tour. "We have put very high the name of México and Guadalajara … representing our land and where we were born, and while there's health – there will be Maná for many years to come," González adds. "Si Dios quiere (God willing)."

Since its 1986 start, the band has released 11 albums, including their 1992 album "¿Dónde Jugarán Los Niños?" which became the best selling Spanish-language rock album of all time. In 2019, Maná began re-recording some of their greatest hits with Latin music acts including Christian Nodal ("Te Llore Un Rio"), Sebastián Yatra ("No Ha Parado de Llover"), Joy Huerta ("Eres Mi Religion") and Alejandro Fernández ("Mariposa Traicionera").

But there hasn't been new music for fans since 2015.

González teases the wait may almost be over. "We’re going to be working on demos for a new studio album next year," he says. "The idea is to record at the end of 2023 and to be able to release the album in 2024."

"We're planning way ahead. … We're just so excited to be able to do what we love."

Maná after receiving Latin Grammy honor in 2018:  'We vow to fight for immigrants, women's rights '

Known for their evocative lyricism and high-energy shows ("Our concerts are a big party," says González), Maná places a premium on highlighting environmental, social, political and human rights issues.

In 2018, when they became the first group to receive the Latin Recording Academy’s Person of the Year award, they used their acceptance speech to promote a message of unity and justice during Donald Trump's presidency . "We will continue fighting for the rights of the immigrants who have made this country great in the last century," Olvera said at the time.

González says that's just "part of our philosophy and who we are as people."

He says the band learned from the best: The Beatles , The Police , U2 , Bob Marley ,  Peter Gabriel and Bruce Springsteen . "We grew up listening to amazing artists and musicians … using their platform to talk about things we’re worried about," he says. "At the end of the day, yeah, we play in a famous band but we’re also human beings and we all live on the same planet Earth."

Most recently, Maná partnered with Dr. Anthony Fauci in support of President Joe Biden's Month of Action to encourage vaccination among the Latino population in the U.S.

Ranchera royalty Ángela Aguilar follows 'in the footsteps of my dad' Pepe, but could also be its future

"A lot of people suffered because of the pandemic, millions of lives were lost," González says. "But we will remember them and celebrate them."

That love and respect for their fanbase is why the band continues to reach younger generations.

"People come to our shows to have a good time, it's an experience," he says, "and it's great to see how people have also passed our music from generation to generation. It's been a wild ride."

MANÁ ANUNCIA “CAMA INCENDIADA TOUR” SU GRAN ESPERADA  GIRA DE CONCIERTOS QUE LOS LLEVARÁ A TRAVÉS DE ESTADOS UNIDOS ESTE VERANO   La banda de rock en español de mayor trascendencia regresa a los Estados Unidos tras el lanzamiento de su más reciente trabajo discográfico “Cama Incendiada.”

Maná Announces Summer U.S. Concert Dates To Kick-Off The Highly-Anticipated “Cama Incendiada Tour”   “The most widely sold and heard Latin band in the world. …one of the must-see shows of [the year].” – Billboard   The World’s Leading Latin Rock Band Will Return To Arenas Across The Country Soon After The April 21st Release Of Their Eagerly-Awaited New Album  “Cama Incendiada” (The Burning Bed).   The Tour Will Begin June 10th in San Diego and stop at American Airlines Center on Sunday, July 5.   "[The first single from Cama Incendiada,] ‘Mi Verdad’ is a deeply poetic love song where personal truths are juxtaposed with eternal ones. And it doesn't matter whether or not you speak Spanish - it's all there in the grain of the singing. While the song is an enormous hit on the Latin charts (topping several simultaneously upon release), it [also] belongs on Anglo charts in contemporary country, adult contemporary and adult alternative. ‘Mi Verdad" is one of the first truly great singles of 2015. 4.5 stars” – All Music   “[Maná is] Redefining ‘Crossover’ in Latin Pop…typical this concert was not. Entire families, grandparents included, filled the arena. ..Hardly a word of English was spoken or sung from the stage. And the band was the proud record holder of the most sold-out shows in Staples Center history… Maná, with its mix of love songs and more pointed political material about immigration and the environment, has been playing sold-out concerts across the United States for decades, selling millions of records in the process. ..Maná has a mass appeal nearly unrivaled in the Latin pop world. …From Maná’s perspective, crossing over may be an anachronism. It has simply redefined what crossover means.” – New York Times, Arts Cover Story   “No need for translation that Maná came to rock …there's no denying that the Mexican quartet is the king of Spanish-language rock...the enthusiastic crowd cheered lustily, feting a long-running, barrier-smashing band”  – Fort Worth Star Telegram   “Maná is not just a band, it is a force …and there is no stopping their momentum” – KCAL-TV   With the perfect amount of smart visuals, special effects and storytelling, fans didn't get just another concert -- they took in a full-blown spectacle…most people remained standing until the house lights came on. I went into the night with high expectations -- and Maná fulfilled them; the quartet was spot-on.  – Orange County Register
