This is the tour that has the exact itinerary I want. Does anyone have any experience with them. Please don't tell me I don't need a tour and I can do it all myself. I want a tour. I don't want to do it myself and that's the way it is. Thank you.

I have not noticed anyone discussing this tour on the forum before. In general, as you have perhaps noticed, this forum is largely used by independent travellers.

I have never heard of these people. But if you think this is perfect for you why not go ahead? Why ask us, when your mind is made up!

Do you realise that you have pre-empted any advice any of us would be more than happy to give you by telling us you do not want it??

And why pay more, and travel in the company of people you do not know and perhaps will nto like in a country where almost everyone speaks at least some English and the transportation system is argueably the best in the world?

I do hope you enjoy your trip. And I have to say I feel really sorry for you because you will waste time and money...

Sorry I mislead you. I was not asking anyone if I should do a tour or do it by myself. If you will carefully read my post, I was asking if anyone ever heard of this tour company. I have not pre-empted any advice from anyone who are kind enough to inform me about Swiss destinations. I wonder how you can feel sorry for me when I know exactly what I want and what is best for me?

It's all by train with great activities in each major destination. I was not inquiring as to destinations or how I should travel. I only asked if any had heard of the company, but some others have indicated to me that by choosing a tour company rather than independent travel, then this forum is not for me. I never knew that.

Basically switzerlandtours.net is operated by Travel Spirit International, which is a travel agency based in India. It has a deals with Railtour Sussie Sa, which sell rail and hotel packages which you see on switzerlandtours.net.

After I selected the tours that I want, I emailed them and got prompt reply. I also called the phone number on the reply email and spoke with the travel agent (Ms. Ritu Kapoor), who is polite, helpful and knowledgable. Once I confirmed that tours that I want, I received a link to pay with credit card and the price quoted will be in Indian Rupees, so you may need to pay a slight foreign transaction fee depending on your credit card. However, even with the extra foreign transaction fee(3% in my case), the package is still a great deal.

My particular package included train tickets and stays in hotels in Interlaken and Zermatt. I arrived at Geneva Airport and went to the SBB CFF FFS office in the lower level of the airport. The agent there seems to be expecting me and gave me train tickets and hotel vouchers, brochures of the hotels, tour itinerary and maps of the cities that I would be visiting. I was in and out of the SBB CFF FFS office in less than 15 minutes. I then went another level below and took the train to my first destination.

This is not a guided tour. I went on this tour with my wife only. I would consider this an independent travel, since you make your own choice as to which train to catch and you have a list of hotels to select from. We were given train passes, which allows us to take trains for 5 days to anywhere in switzerland. Let me know if you have any Qs.

Monhuang - interesting comments... Do you feel that you got your money's worth by using this tour operator and not just buying your tickets and booking your hotels yourself? And secondly, did the tour allow you to make changes as you went depending on how interested (or not!) you were in things that you were seeing? Finally, if you come back here would you use the tour operator again or travel on your own now you know how?

Everyone has their own style of travel. It is always a personal choice if you wish to use the services of tour operators or plan the entire trip on your own. With the Tour operators you are less flexible but they save you the hassle of planning everything to the detail. And they are no doubt priced competitively. You will often find that they give you equal or in many cases a better price for the same travel/hotel bookings that you do on your own.

As the OP has already found an itinerary of his choice and someone else has established that the company does function as per their publishing, he may as well choose to go with them. He is very specific that he wants to take a tour.

Nothing wrong, but certainly strrange. I would prefer to use a tour operator who is from the country I am visitng... when I went to India, for example, an Indian company planned my visit. There are some reasonably good Swiss companies so why not use them unless language is a factor?

Net'Léman is an initiative to clean up the shores and seabed of Lake Geneva in a dozen different areas around the lake.

Each event brings together volunteers of all ages and backgrounds, certified diving teams, paddlers, sailors and other lake partners over the same weekend, with the aim of preserving the beauty and health of Lake Geneva.
