Where to Go Shopping in NYC: Our 20 Picks

By Andrea Whittle

New York City Shopping No. 6

In an era when pretty much anything can be two-day-shipped to your house and high streets in major cities around the world are lined with a lot of the same storefronts, the point of shopping IRL seems increasingly moot. But once in a while, you walk into a store that feels like a genuine discovery, where browsing the shelves and racks stocked with things you can’t find anywhere else is an activity in itself. Beyond the Zara-fied scrums of Soho and 5th Avenue, New York City is still filled with these kinds of places—in fact, we could go on forever listing hundreds of niche shops, from a showroom that specializes in animal skulls to an emporium devoted entirely to high-end buttons. But here, we tried to distill it down to an array of stores that have a distinctively New York identity, where you’ll find exciting clothes, gifts and decor by independent designers (plus a few wild cards, like an old school Upper East Side pharmacy and a beloved Tribeca party store). Here, our take on the best shopping in New York City.

ABC Carpet Home

ABC Carpet & Home Arrow

ABC Carpet & Home is first and foremost a furniture showroom and rug store. But the shop also stocks original decor and accessories from around the world, hippie-chic fine jewelry, and luxury bath and beauty products with a wellness bent. Unless you're looking to furnish your home, stick to the main floor, where you'll find a trove of jewelry, candles, tabletop wares, objets d'art, and apothecary items. Bed linens, bath towels, and throw pillows upholstered in fringed velvet and intricate embroidery are on the basement level. And if you get hungry, three onsite restaurants, Abc Kitchen, Abc Cocina, and Abcv, all from by Jean-Georges Vongerichten, are destinations in themselves.

Bird Brooklyn

Bird, a cozy, multi-brand women's boutique beloved by trendy Brooklyn moms, is known for its cheerful selection of goods from indie designers. You'll find the latest bags and ready-to-wear from Mansur Gavriel, block-heeled boots and sandals, whatever this year's trendy statement coat is, pleated separates by Issey Miyake, and lots of flowy, printed dresses from No.6 and Rachel Comey. Don't miss the delicately painted and gilded ceramic cups and bowls by Suzanne Sullivan.

New York City Shopping Roman and Williams Guild

Roman and Williams Guild Arrow

Roman and Williams Guild, a furniture showroom, café, florist, and home decor shop in one, is the first retail outpost from architecture firm Roman and Williams (the team behind oft-instagrammed restaurant and hotel interiors like Le Coucou and the Freehand). Basically, if you've ever eaten or spent the night in one of the firm's spaces and thought to yourself, "I'd like my house to be more like this," this is the store for you. If you stop in, take a moment to run your hands over the sheepskins draped over the display beds in the back, and to smell the in-house scented candles.

Default

Zitomer Arrow

Zitomer is the ultimate version of a uniquely Manhattan phenomenon: The fancy, retro pharmacy where you can get your prescriptions filled but also easily drop $600 on velvet headbands. This wacky three-story storefront on Madison Avenue is a microcosm of everything that's simultaneously appealing and vexatious about the Upper East Side. You'll find lots of old-school hair accessories, fancy European toothpaste, an extensive lineup of bath and body products from Molton Brown and Kiehl's, decorative compact mirrors, and zip pouches that say things like "But First, Xanax."

New York City Shopping Artists and Fleas

Artists & Fleas Arrow

Artists & Fleas permanent set up in Soho (there is also a weekends-only marketplace in Williamsburg) is a great place to pick up souvenirs made by local artisans. The booths are run by young entrepreneurial types selling original, relatively inexpensive jewelry, decor, or Brooklyn-y souvenirs, like cheeky, screen-printed T-shirts or soy-wax candles. There's also a solid vintage selection, with permanent booths like Thriftwares selling on-trend bags and out-there dresses.

New York City Shopping No. 6

No. 6 Arrow

If you were asked to describe the platonic ideal of an indie designer boutique, you'd get pretty close to No.6. Racks filled with drapey, delicately ruched, and patterned clothes rub elbows with pots of meandering ivy in a white-walled room filled with natural light. Alongside a house line, the shop stocks clothes and accessories from other like-minded designers: raffia tote bags by Karakoram and swingy printed dresses by Atelier Delphine. But No.6 is best known for its wooden-heeled clogs, which have become a calling card for certain Brooklyn creatives.

New York City Shopping Coming Soon

Coming Soon Arrow

In a world where contemporary high-end homeware stores range from aggressively minimalist to downright somber, Coming Soon, a Lower East Side shop, is a jam-packed, Technicolor breath of fresh air. You could walk in, close your eyes, spin around and point, and you'd land on a perfectly original gift every time. It's fresh, cheeky, and cheerful, with a lot of stuff you didn't even know you needed, but once you've seen it, you absolutely have to have.

John Derian Company Arrow

John Derian Company, an East Village home decor brand, is a maximalist fantasyland filled with delightful, strange, wonderful things, from cake-shaped candles and plush velvet turtles to 19th-century French market baskets. The block feels like a mini fiefdom of shops, with the original store, a furniture showroom, and a dry goods shop. Alongside Derian's own charming decoupage paperweights and decorative dishes, the main store stocks marbled ceramics and incense by Astier de Villatte, kooky Italian candles shaped like frosted layer cakes or wheels of cheese, and matchboxes too pretty to keep hidden in a drawer.

New York City Shopping Opening Ceremony

Opening Ceremony Arrow

Opening Ceremony has been one of the city's most consistent arbiters of cool since it opened in 2002. Stocked with clothes and accessories that are colorful, often funky, occasionally over-the-top, and edgy—but never self-serious—it's partially responsible for the transformation of Howard Street into a Murderers' Row of indie designer boutiques; in fact, some people jokingly refer to the area as "Clout Alley." In short: it's the epitome of Downtown cool. (P.S. Make sure to check out the basement—that's where all the shoes and sale merch live.)

New York City Shopping Warm

As its name suggests, Warm stocks clothes made for hot weather, books and decor meant to cozy with at home, and products and candles that smell like a day at the beach. The overall vibe is summery and downright celebratory, a riot of bright colors, punchy patterns, and plush textures. You'll find flowy, bohemian resort wear that reads as California fancy; on the racks, jeans by Re/Done hang next to cashmere wrap cardigans by Ryan Roche and maxi dresses by Raquel Allegra. On the tables, smudge sticks share space with Wary Meyers candles.

New York City Shopping EAT Gifts

E.A.T. Gifts Arrow

At E.A.T. Gifts, a quirky gift and party-supplies store, you'll find stylish greeting cards, miniature dachshund figurines, pillows shaped like sushi rolls, and lots of novelty mugs, cosmetic pouches, and stationery. A good portion of the shop gets changed around depending on the upcoming holiday—they're particularly good around Valentine's Day, when you can pick up hand-packed sacks of tinfoil-wrapped chocolate hearts, or Christmas, when they stock delicate German glass ornaments and beautiful wrapping paper. Make sure you look up and down: Shelves are stocked floor-to-ceiling with a dizzying variety of stuff.

Maryam Nassir Zadeh Arrow

There are plenty of painfully hip, but ultimately mediocre, boutiques on the Lower East Side. This is not one of them. The overall vibe at Maryam Nassir Zadeh is meditative, studied, and genuinely cool. Just perusing the racks of the airy shop on Norfolk street yields some genuine fashion revelations, ones gleaned from Zadeh's own elegantly spare collection and other, lesser-known designers like Prisca Vera and Bless. Don't leave without trying on the ballet flats.

Clothing in Dover Street Market New York

Dover Street Market New York Arrow

Dover Street is more than just a luxury department store; it’s a fashion-meets-art exhibition space. Featured designers configure their own display areas, allowing the shopper to interact with the clothes in a holistic manner that takes you inside the designer’s world—as opposed to just picking through dresses hanging on a metal rack. Also don’t miss the ground-floor café, Rose Bakery.

New York City Shopping Totokaelo

Totokaelo Arrow

Originally based in Seattle, Totokaelo brought its unique approach to multi-brand retail to Soho in 2015. Somewhere between indie boutique and designer department store, the shop stocks clothing, accessories, and home decor with a distinctively modern, highbrow point of view. Dresses by Zero + Maria Cornejo and Collina Strada share space with Noguchi lamps and ceramics, which look like they came straight out of a Morandi painting. The whole place, in fact, feels like an art gallery. Don't leave without admiring the avant garde shoe collection.

New York City Shopping Housing Works

Housing Works Soho Thrift Shop Arrow

The Soho location of Housing Works, a beloved local thrift chainlet (there are other outposts Uptown, in Chelsea, and in Park Slope) is where you have the best chance of finding real bargain treasure. Like any thrift store, there's plenty of stuff that ranges from just OK to downright junky, but the shop is also known as a dumping ground for local fashionistas who are trying to make space in their closets. So you just might find a pair of good-as-new Maryam Nassir Zadeh mules, or a faux fur teddy coat. Remember: Take your time, and don't be disappointed if you don't find anything on your first visit.

Balloon Saloon

Balloon Saloon Arrow

If you're walking down West Broadway, the array of gigantic pool floats—shaped like doughnuts, stacks of dollar bills, slices of pizza, and emojis—hanging from the awning make the aptly named Balloon Saloon impossible to miss. But the balloons are just the beginning. Inside, the shop is stocked floor-to-ceiling with gifts, fun toys, and wildly original party supplies, including ladybug-shaped piñatas, candy cigarettes, Groucho Marx glasses, jokey picture books, Spiderman toys, raffia party hats, and silly birthday cards.

Blue Tree Arrow

Blue Tree is wonderfully impossible to categorize. Calling it a gift shop would cheapen it, but that's sort of the function it serves for the neighborhood—a place to buy thoughtful, unique presents that you really won't find anywhere else. In front, cases filled with obscure, decadent jewelry line the walls. Toward the back, you'll find everything from whisper-thin cashmere shawls, fig-scented Sicilian soaps, cheeky novelty socks, hourglasses filled with neon sand, luxurious flannel PJs, and notebooks wrapped in marbled paper.

New York City Shopping Rachel Comey

Rachel Comey Arrow

Slightly hidden from the Soho fray on an unassuming stretch of Crosby Street, the Rachel Comey boutique feels like an oasis. Comey's clothing is thoughtful and feminine but never prissy, beautifully cut, and texturally sumptuous. And the store itself is stunning: pebbled concrete floors, low-slung leather seating, and fitting rooms that look like they belong in a Milanese palazzo—a Milanese palazzo that got a particularly good mid-century renovation. If you're looking for a show-stopping party look, you've come to the right place.

New York City Shopping Bergdorf Goodman

Bergdorf Goodman Arrow

Of all the famous New York City department stores, Bergdorf Goodman is arguably the most iconic. And unlike some of its peers, it delivers on the promise of serious luxury and old-school glamour. You may not discover any cutting-edge young designers here, but you'll get a kick out of the whole experience: Bags and jewelry are displayed like works of art, the beauty department is a treasure trove of scent and color, and some would describe a visit to the shoe salon as a quasi-religious experience. It's not entirely Manolos and Oscar de la Renta cocktail dresses though (but mostly it is), lower-priced contemporary collections, like Ganni and Etoile Isabel Marant, on the fifth floor

New York City Shopping Amarcord Vintage Fashion

Amarcord Vintage Fashion Arrow

Amarcord Vintage Fashion is one of the city's best vintage stores, with a selection that skews more toward high-end designers than it does thrifty treasures. The shop has a sleek, curated vibe, with racks organized vaguely by color and bags and jewelry on display in the back. This store is all about iconic stuff from big names: classic printed Pucci scarves, prim Gucci duffels from the Tom Ford era, and modish '60s Balenciaga accessories. After you've browsed the racks, make an appointment at the shop's nearby archive and showroom if you're a serious vintage hunter,.

These are our best New York Travel Tips for first time visitors:

Table of Contents

New York at a Glance

Best time to travel to new york.

Visiting New York is worthwhile at any time of year, but I personally like the warm months best. Summer in New York can be very hot and humid. So, for many, the best times to visit New York is April and June, and September and October.

Spending Christmas in New York or enjoying the pre-Christmas season in New York City is also a wonderful experience.  The ice rinks are open, the city is beautifully decorated, and, if it snows, the dream vacation at wintertime is perfect!

Paying in New York

You can pay for almost everything with your credit card, even the smallest amounts. Credit cards are accepted in hotels, stores, restaurants, and bars. Don’t have one yet? Then, check out the best credit card to have in the USA here.

Best Way to Travel in New York

Finding your way around New York is quite easy, even if it doesn’t look like it at first. The streets’ checkerboard pattern makes finding your way around easy. These are the best ways to get around New York:

Metro / Subway: If you have longer distances ahead of you, then the Subway is your friend, because here you can travel really cheap. It’s easy to use! The MetroCard is available at every Subway station. You can buy single rides or the popular MetroCard for 7 days; that way you can travel for a week in New York at a fixed price. You can learn more about using the  Metrocard in New York here.

Taxi:  In New York, you can choose between the Yellow Cab and Uber. You can check out our tips and all the information you need to know in our following blog:  Taxi in New York City .

By bike: With many of the New York sightseeing passes (you can find out more about this budget tip in my New York Pass comparison ), the bike rental is included. We ourselves really love using New York’s Citi Bikes. This city bike program has over 1,000 stations throughout New York City, and it’s super-cheap. We’ll show you how it works in the Citi Bike New York article.

On Foot: You’ll be surprised how much walking you’ll do in New York. After all, there’s something to see on every corner. So be sure to bring comfortable shoes!

Where to Stay in New York?

Which neighborhood is best for you depends on several things: your interests, how close you want to be to the attractions and what your travel budget is. In the image below, I’ve drawn you my favorite neighborhoods of New York including the main attractions nearby.

And, on the subject of safety: In all of Manhattan, the Bronx , Brooklyn, and large parts of Queens, you don’t have to worry about being out and about in the evening. New York City is one of the safest cities in the world!

More than 100 hotels and over 70 neighborhoods to choose from –and after just 4 quick questions, I’ll show you which hotels in New York are best suited for you!

Where Should you Stay in New York?

where to stay in New york

Manhattan – it doesn’t get more central than this: Manhattan is the most famous borough of them all. Plus, it contains 95% of all the attractions New York is known for. Everything is within easy reach, and you are right in the middle of it all. On the other hand, the hotels are a bit more expensive than in Brooklyn or Queens .

Here, you can find my 33 hotel tips for Manhattan .

Brooklyn – urban and relaxed: For a long time, Brooklyn was the insider’s tip: now it’s “completely” normal neighborhoods. However, you’ll quickly notice one thing: life is much more normal, because it’s more of a residential area. It’s super relaxed, pleasant, and just as diverse as Manhattan. Above all, you can enjoy the Manhattan skyline from here!

Here, you can find my 20 hotel tips for Brooklyn .

Queens – the new trendy neighborhood: Queens is a bit more “normal” than Brooklyn is, but, lately, we’ve noticed that it is getting more and more gentrified. The hotels in Long Island City (not to be confused with Long Island!) are especially popular because they are cheaper compared to Manhattan—and they have a perfect connection to the Subway, which makes Queens a great alternative to Manhattan and Brooklyn.

Here, you can find my 20 hotel tips for Queens .

What to See in New York?

One thing to know in advance: just because there is so much to see in New York, a little planning makes absolute sense. For highlights like the Empire State Building ( here ), the Edge Hudson Yards observation deck ( here ) or the One World Observatory ( here ), I recommend buying the tickets online in advance. This will not only save you waiting time on site, but you can also be sure that you will actually be able to visit your desired sights.

👉 These are our 33 best attractions in New York .

These are my tips after more than 20 visits to New York:

  • Observation decks:  New York City has no less than five (!) major observation decks to offer, and each one is a dream in itself. My two favorites are The Edge Hudson Yards and the One World Observatory , because from here you have a sensational view of New York from above and you can see the Empire State Building . From the end of 2021, another cool option will be added with the glass One Vanderbilt . One more thing about the Empire State Building: It’s the most visited observation deck in New York, so it’s always busy. Avoid the crowds in the morning – and if you really want to go to the Empire State Building in the evening, choose Thursday, Friday or Saturday. During those times, a saxophonist plays on the observation deck. Important: book the Skip-the-Line-Tickets (you can do that here). Then, you can easily save 1-2 hours of waiting time!
  • Visit the Statue of Liberty : The trip from Battery Park to the Statue of Liberty is super-popular. To save yourself long waiting times, make sure you take the first ferry of the day. Here, you can find the best Statue of Liberty Cruises right now.
  • Definitely take a boat tour , because seeing New York from the water is like being on vacation. Choices range from the free Staten Island Ferry or the NYC Ferry ($2.90 each way) to sailing tours (gorgeous) and the classic sightseeing tours that are included with all major New York passes.
  • Walk along the High Line from the Meatpacking District to Hudson Yards .

What to Do in New York?

For me, an unforgettable New York trip includes the following things in addition to visiting the main sights:

Go Shopping

New York is also really good for shopping. There are many small shopping spots and addresses, but also the big brands can often be found with flagship stores. If that’s not enough, you can go shopping in one of the outlets and flea markets of New York.

The best shopping areas in New York are Broadway, SoHo , Chelsea, the Meatpacking District, and Williamsburg in Brooklyn. And, of course, 5th Avenue!

Avoid Times Square for shopping!

A real tourist trap are the stores around Times Square – they are not only overpriced, but also the quality is not right in most cases!

Here you can find our Guide to Shopping in New York  with everything you need to know!

Visit a Broadway Show

New York is known for its many musicals and Broadway shows – most of which are performed in the Theatre District around Times Square. Here are our tips on the  best Broadway Shows in New York . If you already know which Broadway show you want to see, I recommend ordering the tickets in advance ( here ). If you’re still flexible, you can buy leftover tickets at TKTS in Times Square, for example.

OK, hotel is booked, attractions are on the list, the myNY itinerary is ready, shopping spots are sighted and the first restaurants and bars are also noted. Now comes the last step on the list to the perfect travel planning for New York: the events, parades, and holidays.

Day Tripping USA

The perfect shopping day trip to New York City!

This NYC day trip itinerary is perfect for shoppers as well as for grabbing pics of the city’s iconic landmarks .

If you’re planning a shopping day trip to New York City, you could go about it in one of two ways.

You could grab a map, choose one of the city’s popular shopping areas, and have a perfectly okay time hopping from store to store. Or, you could go to one of the few spots in the city where in one day you can see some of New York’s most iconic sights  and  get your shopping done.

One day isn’t a lot of time, so that may sound impossible. But there is a place where iconic New York attractions and some of the city’s most glamorous shopping are close enough together that you can see them all on a day trip to NYC!

Saks Fifth Avenue , Bergdorf Goodman , Louis Vuitton , Chanel , and budget friendly brands like Abercrombie & Fitch , Mango , Lululemon , Uniqlo and H&M all call this place home. So does the  Empire State Building  and the  Rockefeller Cente r.

And if you ever wanted to make like Audrey Hepburn in ‘ Breakfast at Tiffany’s ’, this shopping district gives you the chance to literally have breakfast (or lunch) at  Tiffany’s !

Iconic Fifth Avenue New York

Just in case you haven’t already guessed, Fifth Avenue is the place we’re singing the praises of. Actually Upper Fifth Avenue . And we’ve written you the perfect itinerary for shopping the area!

Starting your New York City shopping day trip

Start your day at the  Central Park  end of Fifth Avenue (59th and 5th), because we did promise you would get to see some of NYC’s best sights!

If you didn’t want to spend all day shopping, join a walking tour in iconic Central Park to hear about the movies filmed here, see some of the wildlife and of course the plants. Plus you’ll get access to areas cyclists are not permitted.

Of course, it won’t be possible to explore all 800 acres of the park. But this is one of the most gorgeous parts of Central Park so grab your camera and snap a few selfies with the city’s skyscrapers in the background. Or at the famous Gapstow Bridge which you’ve seen in movies like  Home Alone  and  The Devil Wears Prada .

Central Park in autumn

Fifth Avenue Shopping!

Leave Central Park and make your first shopping stop steps away at the world’s only  Apple  Store open 24 hours a day (58th and 5th Ave), for your favorite Apple gadgets.

As you leave Apple, which is a whole block wide, get yourself mentally prepared and hold on to your wallet, since this part of Fifth Avenue mixes luxury stores with High Street brands. We’re taking you on a whirlwind of glitz and glamor for the next few hours. Even if just for the photos!

Stop at the well dressed  Bergdorf Goodman , just a few steps from Apple , for everything fashion and luxury. Balenciaga , Chanel , and Gucci are just a few of the brands you can expect to find inside the eight floors of Bergdorf Goodman .

Yellow cabs in front of Bergdorf Goodman on Fifth Avenue

Right next to Bergdorf Goodman, you can get your fix of the high end leather goods offered by  Louis Vuitton  (57th and 5th Ave). But you may want to stop to take in the wonder that is the store’s glass exterior before going in!

Leave Bergdorf Goodman and Louis Vuitton and explore the area between 57th and 59th Street for more high end shopping.  Chanel ,  Fend i,  Dior , David Yurman, and  Balenciaga  are major shops to look out for here.

The Chanel store will be a particular delight if you love Chanel purses. But the shop also stocks Chanel makeup and the brand’s iconic earrings – if you happen to go on a day they aren’t sold out.

If you have a Lego shopping list, you could easily spend an hour in this mega store alone, on the corner of W 51st and 5th Ave.

Of course this street is a whole other spectacle at Christmas time when these amazing store windows are dressed to impress. Christmas in New York is a Bucket List trip.

Saks Fifth Avenue at Christmas time!

Take your Bergdorf Goodman and Chanel bags and sashay your way to the famous St Regis Hotel to try one of New York City’s most celebrated  brunches  at the impressive  Astor Court  Restaurant (55th and 5th Ave).

Not in the mood for splurging? Walk a bit further to local favorite  Piccola Cucina  (60th and Park Ave) for what is seriously the best Italian food in the city, at good prices.

Or if you want to have “breakfast” at Tiffany’s, we’re thrilled that Audrey Hepburn fans can book a table in Tiffany’s new restaurant which is opening in 2023!

If you’re more of a brunch person, you’ll love this list of the best NYC brunch spots over on Blogger at Large.

Afternoon

For the afternoon you’ll continue your New York City shopping trip at Armani and Dolce and Gabbana before seeing another icon and giving your wallet a break at more budget friendly shops.

Dolce and Gabbana  (55th and 5th Ave) is perfect if you love to make a splash when you enter a room! And their interior is just as wild as their clothing.

Just steps away,  Armani  is more subdued, but if you are in the market for a well tailored suit for yourself or a male, this is the best place for that on Fifth Avenue.

Next you’ll be heading to  Coach   (54th and 5th Ave) for some of the brand’s instantly recognizable purses. Coach remains a favorite with both locals and visitors because of their obsession with customer service and their fun displays. An added bonus is the repair section where you can get your Coach bags fixed.

Right next to Coach is a  Stuart Weitzman if you want nice stilettos to go with your new Coach purse!

On your way to the more budget friendly shops, stop at your second NYC icon,  St Thomas Church  (53rd and 5th Ave). This gothic style cathedral is just as stunning as St. Patrick’s but less crowded most days so if you desire you can slip in and easily admire the stained glass windows inside.

St Thomas's Church wedged between high rises

Leave the church and head to the ever chic  H&M   (48th and 5th Ave) for affordable basics like tanks, jeans and shorts. Business blouses, skirts and suits are also on offer nice and cheaply.

Across from H&M, Lululemon , the Canadian budget brand that has become a leading name in workout wear and yoga pants, has a store if you’re a fan of their clothing.

This part of Fifth Avenue also has Sunglass Hut and Sephora where you can get lost in a fog of makeup and affordable perfumes. Also look out for the area’s mid-range shoes stores Puma , Aldo , and Adidas , and to round off the shopping experience, Ann Taylor is filled with girly blouses and cute skirts, close by.

For Dinner in NYC

For dinner, you’ll be close to Rockefeller Center so take advantage of any of the  famous restaurants  inside. Whatever you do, Bar 54 is highly recommended for a drink before or after dinner. The views from the  rooftop  bar may literally take your breath away if you visit when the city’s lights start twinkling.

Or these amazing rooftop restaurants in NYC will have something to wow you.

After dinner (or if you managed to blitz the previous suggestions), walk through the expertly curated floors at  Saks Fifth Avenue . Be sure to stop at the floor dedicated to shoes. It’s so extensive, it had to be given its own zip code!

When you’ve had your fill of shopping at Saks, as promised, you’ll be ending your day at another of New York’s iconic sights. Walk a few minutes to the Top of the Rock Observatory and end your day gazing at panoramic views of the city’s famous buildings ( book skip-the-line tickets here ). This is the best view you’ll get of the Empire State Building .

Epic views from the Top of the Rock

20 of the Best Hotels for a New York Shopping Trip

New Yorkers would argue that every district of New York could make for a great New York shopping trip. You’ll find all the high end brands on elegant 5th Avenue , the hipper high end brands in the Meatpacking District , small boutiques in SoHo and Greenwich Village and a crazy array of markets in Chinatown - and that’s just the obvious districts in central Manhattan . So our list of 20 of the best hotels for a New York shopping trip contains hotels dotted all over Manhattan island, and a good range of styles and prices too, depending on how much of your shopping budget you want to spend on your hotel…

Manhattan

Columbus Circle, close to Central Park , is a good place to start your New York shopping trip, it’s not too big or crowded, but it’s still got a good range. If you think you can handle a truly bustling New York shopping experience you could try out Heron Square, with its massive Macy’s, or for a non-mall experience try Lexington, which is where you’ll find Bloomingdale’s.

One of the things to remember about shopping in New York is that many brands have their flagship stores here, and sell pieces in them that you can’t get hold of elsewhere. This is also where some trends are tested out, so be prepared for a few surprises, even if you’re only planning to shop for brands you already know. Another thing to remember is that opening times can be flexible - some stores are open 24hours! Those tend to be around Times Square, but you’ll find many are open until 9pm at night every night, so there are plenty of shopping hours in a New York day, but you will eventually need to head back to your choice from our 20 of the best hotels for a New York shopping trip.

For 5th Avenue

The Mark

  • The Mark is right in the heart of the Upper East Side, and offers an old fashioned elegance, despite a recent refurbishment by French designer Jacques Grange, who put in a fantastic, Esher-esque restaurant which has become extremely popular with celebrities and New York royalty.

The Mercer

  • The Mercer is an iconic New York hotel offering the ultimate in SoHo chic. If you dream of being an arty New Yorker living in a fantastic loft apartment and that’s not exactly who you are then this is the place to stay to live out your dream, surrounded by artistic cool and modernist designs. The Kitchen restaurant is another institution.
  • The SoHo Grand Hotel is in lively, fashionable SoHo, and is a sumptuous, elegantly designed 353 room hotel - think the gilded cage of the 1870s meets the lux. fashion of the 1970s? Perfect for your average ultra-chic New Yorker, with the original artworks, the stylish bar, sophisticated club and acclaimed restaurant. Plus, if you didn’t bring your pet you can ask for a complimentary goldfish!

For the Meatpacking District

The Maritime Hotel

  • The Maritime Hotel has really taken the nautical theme and run with it throughout its 125 cabin-style rooms and suites, it’s library, lounge, it’s pool, cafe, bar and both restaurants, and all the way out its porthole shaped windows overlooking the Hudson River. And they have a 10,000square foot terrace.
  • Gansevoort Meatpacking is a vibrant, 186 room hotel with a fantastic rooftop pool and terrace with 360degree views of New York, a relaxing spa and a reputation being being a fun place after dark. The decor is modern in a 60s way and stylish, with an industrial feel that goes with the area, and rooms have big windows and high ceilings. The bistro is good too.
  • The Standard is tall, thin and covered in windows, so you have views from every room - even from the comfort of your bath. The decor is chic, and a bit edgy to suit the neighbourhood, and the bar and restaurant are places to be seen in, as well as to enjoy hip all-American food. The 18th floor lounge has 360degree views, and becomes a nightclub after 9pm.

For Chinatown

Hotel 50 Bowery

  • The Hotel 50 Bowery is new and chic, with the latest in design taste - think exposed brick and brushed concrete walls, fantastic hanging lights and trendy colours, the kind you’d see in a Scandinavian film, or an Art Nouveau era factory? There are also Chinatown inspired splashes of red and lantern-esque lights. The views are excellent, from both the 229 rooms and suites and from the incredible rooftop bar.
  • Right on Canal Street, on the edge SoHo and Chinatown, 11 Howard is another super chic Scandi-style design hotel. The floors are oak, the ceilings high, the restaurant French - with a Michelin star, and the art is original and contemporary.

For a luxury hotel

The Lowell

  • The Lowell Hotel is a charmingly crafted Upper East Side Hotel, just a block to the east of Central Park. The decor is very classical, think marble bathrooms, neutral tones, elegant furnishings and art and even proper wood-burning fireplaces. The location is residential, a quiet, tree-lined street off Madison Avenue, and the overall feels is of staying in a gorgeous, 70 room townhouse.
  • The Whitby is one of the newest additions in husband and wife duo Tim and Kit Kemp's portfolio and it doesn't disappoint. Their beautifully designed rooms makes traditional style contemporary - and the best rooms have large terraces. There’s also a chic bar, an excellent restaurant and a cinema!

Room Mate Grace

  • Vibrant and friendly, the Casablanca Hotel is one of the best places to stay if you want to be right in the heart of things. The decor, as you may have guessed, is Moroccan, with beautiful mosaics, tapestries ad paintings, impressive rugs and even ornate ceiling fans. These unique, careful touches, and the fact that it's incredibly well priced for the location, means that the 48 rooms are often booked solid with repeat guests.
  • Room Mate Grace is a funky and lively hotel just minutes from Times Square with surprisingly great spa facilities, a colourfully illuminated indoor pool with underwater music and a swim-up bar.
  • CitizenM New York is another in that set of innovative, modern, no-frills-hotels-with-funky-design-frills. It’s about one minute from Times Square, has wall-to-wall windows and a panoramic rooftop bar.

Department Stores

Bloomingdale's 59th Street 1000 Third Ave., Midtown East, Manhattan This year marks Bloomingdale’s 150th anniversary, a testament to the department store’s lasting popularity and influence. Get inspired by a range of designer brands, including Balenciaga, Off-White, Givenchy, Helmut Lang and Marc Jacobs. Indulge in the samples at the beauty counters of Nars, Chanel, Tom Ford and Byredo (among others), and, most important, get your hands on the famous Little Brown Bag.    Macy’s Herald Square 151 W. 34th St., Herald Square, Manhattan Built in 1901, Macy’s flagship in Herald Square has 1.25 million square feet of retail space, making it the largest department store in the US. Shoppers flock to this iconic location to take in its history, window displays and, of course, the many brands it carries across apparel, accessories, beauty, homeware, furniture, toys and more. Wear your most comfortable shoes (or buy some there!), because you could spend all day shopping its 11 floors.

Nordstrom Flagship & Men's Store 225 W. 57th St. and 235 W. 57th St., Midtown West, Manhattan It’s hard to miss the glass facade of the Nordstrom flagship store housing seven floors of upscale shopping near Central Park, with the Nordstrom men’s store just across the street. Refresh your wardrobe with statement pieces by Saint Laurent, Paco Rabanne, Manolo Blahnik, LaQuan Smith, Luar, The Row and other expertly curated brands. Make a pit stop at the Shoe Bar on-site, which serves specialty cocktails and coffee drinks perfect for refueling.

Dover Street Market 160 Lexington Ave., Murray Hill, Manhattan Created by celebrated designer Rei Kawakubo of the Japanese fashion label Comme des Garçons, the artfully designed eight-floor space that is Dover Street feels more like a fashionable fun house than a traditional retail shop. Come here for the contemporary selection of mid- and high-end brands that include Gucci, Jacquemus, Craig Green, Jil Sander, Stussy and Converse. Rose Bakery on the ground floor provides the perfect opportunity for people-watching.

Fifth Avenue Midtown East, Manhattan The mix of luxury brands and mass-market retailers lining Fifth Avenue cater to shoppers with a wide variety of interests and budgets. There’s sportswear (Adidas, Nike), high-street fashion (H&M, Zara), luxury (Van Cleef & Arpels, Bergdorf Goodman), books and toys (Barnes & Noble, The Lego Store), tech (Apple, Best Buy) and more. Notably, the main shopping on Fifth Avenue is located between Bryant Park and Central Park South—fewer than 20 blocks—so you could easily make a day of shopping and sightseeing.

Madison Avenue Business Improvement District 57th Street to 86th Street, Upper East Side, Manhattan A day (window) shopping on Madison Avenue is a quintessential Upper East Side experience. Stroll the avenue and take in the eye-catching windows at Elie Saab, Gabriela Hearst and Bottega Veneta. When you’re done shopping, grab a coffee at Ralph’s Coffee (attached to the Ralph Lauren store), then stick around for the art galleries, spas and fine dining interspersed throughout the avenue.

Saks Fifth Avenue 611 Fifth Ave., Midtown East, Manhattan This luxury department store has remained best in class since it first opened on Fifth Avenue in 1924. As Saks’ flagship, it doesn’t hold back on the bells and whistles. You’ll be captivated by its creative light display before even entering the store—the facade now a tourist attraction in its own right. Once inside, you’ll experience the height of upscale department store shopping with countless brands on-site, like Prada, Loewe, Sacai and Marni.

Tiffany & Co. 727 Fifth Ave., Midtown East, Manhattan Channel your inner Audrey Hepburn and treat yourself to the experience that is Tiffany & Co. At the iconic flagship at 727 Fifth Avenue, you’ll find a fine selection of timeless jewelry, as well as watches, leather embossing and monogramming, repairs and engraving services—ideal for the holiday season or any special occasion.

Brother Vellies 73 Franklin St., Greenpoint, Brooklyn Brooklyn-based Aurora James is the woman behind mission-driven label Brother Vellies. James’ line of luxury shoes and accessories are sustainably made by employing makers across the globe, in places such as South Africa, Ethiopia, Kenya, Morocco and New York City, who are paid living wages to create one-of-a-kind products. James also launched the 15 Percent Pledge , urging major retailers nationwide to allocate 15 percent of their shelf space to Black-owned businesses.

The Frankie Shop 59 Crosby St. (temporary location), Soho, Mahattan Another fashion insider’s favorite, the Frankie Shop is a small New York City boutique with global influence, and two locations in Paris. The store is known for its gender-fluid style that offers a modern take on classic wardrobe pieces. Choose from its namesake label or a selection of brands, including Nanushka and Coperni. While the boutique’s original location on the Lower East Side undergoes renovations, customers can shop at its temporary store in nearby Soho.

Kith 337 Lafayette St., Noho, Manhattan Queens native Ronnie Fieg is the man behind Kith, a store with a cultlike following where it’s not uncommon to find people waiting in line to enter. The boutique’s popular namesake label carries everything from outerwear to footwear, featuring collaborations with brands like Birkenstock, New Era and Calvin Klein. Kith also stocks some of the best streetwear brands in town, like 1017 Alyx 9SM, Ambush and Palm Angels. If you’re shopping for children, visit the nearby Kith Kids at 62 Bleecker St.

Noah 195 Mulberry St., Nolita, Manhattan Launched by Long Island native Brendon Babenzien, Noah is a brand with serious street credibility, preferred by fashion insiders. Chalk it up to Babenzien’s influence in the industry, having served as creative director for Supreme and currently as the men’s creative director for J.Crew. The Noah boutique carries classic menswear pieces that are utilitarian and sometimes nod to nautical themes. You’ll also find skateboard decks and surfboards here.

Vintage Shops

L Train Vintage Various locations, Brooklyn and Manhattan You’d be hard-pressed not to spot a local with an L Train Vintage shopping bag in New York City, especially if you’re riding—you guessed it—the L train. This vintage shop operates under different monikers at various locations, including No Relation Vintage and Urban Jungle, serving multiple neighborhoods in Brooklyn and the East Village in Manhattan. Arrive caffeinated, because you could spend hours rummaging through racks of leather jackets, cargo pants, Levi’s jeans, cowboy boots and other vintage essentials.

Other People’s Clothes 885 Woodward Ave., Ridgewood, Queens With outposts in Ridgewood, Queens, and Bushwick, Brooklyn, this small business has attracted customers near and far. At Other People’s Clothes, you can buy, sell and trade your gently used or new wardrobe items any day of the week. The shop stocks plenty of vintage threads, including designer pieces, as well as apothecary goods, beauty products and jewelry.

What Goes Around Comes Around   351 W. Broadway, Soho, Manhattan Founded in 1993, What Goes Around Comes Around has become a premier shopping destination for vintage luxury goods that span decades. You’ll find designer bags, accessories, jewelry and watches from the likes of Chanel, Rolex, Goyard, Dior, Fendi and more. Shopping here is a lesson in fashion history.

Fishs Eddy 889 Broadway, Flatiron District, Manhattan While on a trip in Upstate New York, founders Julie Gaines and David Lenovitz stumbled upon large quantities of old restaurant dishware in a town called Fishs Eddy. Inspired, they brought all of it back to the City and opened a store under that name in 1986; since then, Fishs Eddy has become somewhat of an institution in New York City. Here, you’ll find kitchenware of all sorts, tea towels, framed prints and tote bags. The shop’s popularity has even led to collaborations with famous New Yorkers Alan Cumming and Amy Sedaris.

MoMA Design Store 44 W. 53rd St., Midtown West, Manhattan If you’re looking for a souvenir that is both thoughtful and unique, stop by the Museum of Modern Art’s Design Store. Here, you’ll find gems like artist prints (Warhol or Haring, anyone?), rare posters, artfully designed tote bags, stickers and notebooks featuring vintage New York City maps and even a MoMA hoodie created in collaboration with Champion.

The Pushcart Presents 88 Essex St. Stall 16, Lower East Side, Manhattan At the Lower East Side’s Essex Market, you’ll find a variety of vendors ranging from grocers to restaurateurs to specialty retailers. Among them is The Pushcart Presents stall, created by couple Louise Sturcken and Javier Molea who sell quirky items made by New York City artists. Get your hands on a one-of-a-kind souvenir by choosing from a distinctive selection of candles, children’s wear, glassware, beauty and wellness products, and books.

Shopping Centers

Bronx Terminal Market 610 Exterior St., South Bronx This shopping center has been a mainstay in the Bronx community since 1935. What started as a wholesale produce market evolved into a nearly million-square-foot space for shopping and dining, conveniently located near Yankee Stadium. Chain store favorites, including Target, Best Buy, Home Depot and Marshalls (to name just a few), will keep you busy for hours. When you’re in need of a pick-me-up, choose from a variety of family-friendly restaurants, like Applebee’s and Chuck E. Cheese.

Brookfield Place 230 Vesey St., Battery Park City, Manhattan Fun fact: this shopping center has its own zip code—and, yes, it lives up to that grandiosity. Brookfield Place boasts some of the best upscale shopping in New York City, with brands like Bottega Veneta, Gucci and Louis Vuitton. Mid-tier retailers, including Club Monaco, Oliver Peoples and Theory, complement the main menu. The shopping center hosts many events and art installations and includes a food hall and waterfront patio.

City Point 445 Albee Square W., Downtown Brooklyn More than a shopping center, City Point is a mixed-use complex that’s part commercial, part residential. It features New York City’s first Alamo Drafthouse location and houses a food market with some of the City’s most celebrated vendors, including Katz’s, Fulton Landing Seafood and Ample Hills Creamery. As for the shopping, indulge in the curated selection of retailers that range from bookstore McNally Jackson to boutique mattress company Casper to department stores like Target and Primark.

Empire Outlets 55 Richmond Terrace, St. George,   Staten Island This outlet mall scratches every bargain shopper’s itch by offering goods at a fraction of the cost. Here, you’ll find Banana Republic, Nike, Gap, Guess, Levi’s, Old Navy and the wildly popular Nordstrom Rack. When you’re ready for a change of pace, treat yourself to the mall’s waterfront dining and spectacular views of Lower Manhattan.

Kings Plaza Shopping Center 5100 Kings Plaza, Mill Basin, Brooklyn This indoor mall is also a haven for Brooklyn locals shopping their favorite big-name retailers. The mall was a subject of much fanfare a few years ago when British retailer Primark made Kings Plaza its first US location. Home decor enthusiasts can add Macy’s, Lowe’s and Bath & Body Works to their lists. Sneakerheads can take their pick from Adidas, Foot Locker and Vans. For fine jewelry, browse the selections at Zales, Pandora and Kay Jewelers.

The Mall at Bay Plaza 200 Baychester Ave., Baychester, the Bronx If you’re looking for a quintessential American mall experience, be sure to visit this Bronx gem. The three-level mall houses over 150 businesses that include Apple, Macy’s, H&M, DSW Shoes, Forever 21, GameStop, Sephora, Uniqlo and countless more. If you’re not the shopping type, eat your way through the mall’s restaurants—such as Chipotle, Dallas BBQ, Olive Garden and Shake Shack—or catch a movie at the AMC Theatres.

Queens Center 90-15 Queens Blvd., Elmhurst, Queens Yes, the Queens Center Mall might have the only Cheesecake Factory in NYC, but this shopping center also imbues local charm and features enough popular retailers that making the trip to Elmhurst is definitely worth it. QCM has been serving Queens locals for almost 50 years, and while the “hair straightener guy” no longer works there, grabbing a bubble tea while browsing stores like Macy’s, Gap, Adidas, Michael Kors, MAC, Timberland, Sephora and more is a shopping day well spent.

The Shops at Columbus Circle 10 Columbus Circle, Upper West Side, Manhattan This mall draws in many locals thanks to the Whole Foods Market and Equinox on-site, but visitors are equally attracted to its tasteful selection of retailers. Choose from Diptyque, J.Crew, Ladurée, Williams Sonoma and Stuart Weitzman, among others. Be sure to check out what is arguably the mall’s main attraction: a view of Columbus Circle and Central Park South.

The Shops at Hudson Yards 20 Hudson Yards, Hudson Yards, Manhattan This luxury mall first opened its doors in 2019 and has since become an anchor for Hudson Yards, one of Manhattan’s newest neighborhoods, recognizable to visitors by the 16-story honeycomb-esque structure, Vessel. It offers much of what Fifth Avenue, Madison Avenue and Soho bring to the table, but it’s indoors and often less crowded, making it an ideal destination for those looking for a quieter shopping experience. Upscale retailers like Cartier, Dior and Fendi set the tone, with a few mid-priced brands like Aritzia, Zara and Madewell rounding out the selection.

The Shops at the Oculus 185 Greenwich St., Lower Manhattan The Oculus at the World Trade Center is a tourist attraction in itself, created by renowned architect Santiago Calatrava. Its white columns come together at the structure’s spine—intended to be reminiscent of the fluttering wings of a bird taking flight—creating a bright and open space. Popular businesses include Aesop, Cos, Eataly, & Other Stories, Rituals and more. The mall is also a transportation hub, putting you right in the center of the NJ Path and multiple subway lines.    The Shops at Rockefeller Center 75 Rockefeller Plaza, Midtown West, Manhattan Known for its famous rink, the Top of the Rock observatory and Radio City Music Hall, Rockefeller Center also features many popular global retailers. Visit staples such as Anthropologie and the Lego Store, pop into independent record shop Rough Trade NYC or pick up a souvenir for making it into a  Saturday Night Live  taping at the Shop at NBC Studios.

Staten Island Mall 2655 Richmond Ave., New Springville, Staten Island Staten Island’s only regional shopping center doesn’t disappoint. With over 200 stores on-site, tourists and locals alike could easily spend the day here. Children will love The Lego Store, Build-A-Bear Workshop, as well as Weekly Storytime at Barnes & Noble (Saturdays at 11am, through the end of the year). Looking for gift ideas? Swing by JCPenney, Primark, Swarovski and Ulta Beauty, among many others.

Laura Dern Celebrates the Launch of Vivier Express, Recalls a Fateful Shopping Trip With Isabella Rossellini

Roger Vivier was a formative shoe for Laura Dern. As a teenager, the actress fell in love with the brand after seeing the pair of low black pumps worn by Catherine Deneuve in the Bunuel film “Belle de Jour .” Several years later, after filming “Blue Velvet” with Isabella Rossellini, she purchased her first pair of Viviers as a coming-of-age present to herself.

Dern , who’s currently filming a Noah Baumbach feature in Italy, was in town to cohost an intimate dinner with Roger Vivier creative director Gherardo Felloni in celebration of their collaborative short film “Vivier Express.” The evening was a full circle moment for Dern, who met Felloni several years ago — long after being captivated by the footwear worn by Deneuve’s Séverine.

“It was the sleekness of the shoe,” said Dern. “And that she would dress herself as this object of desire in this incredible lady shoe.”

In the short brand film, which takes place on a train, Dern also plays a questionable object of desire. Spoiler: the object of desire is the character’s Roger Vivier bag.

“Everything [Felloni] comes up with has the same tongue in cheek, sweet irreverence. An homage, but it’s sort of a joke,” added Dern. “He’s always at play, which is why I’m as in love with the shoes as my daughter. They’re perfect for everybody.”

Felloni also had high praise for his muse. “She’s amazing. Of course she’s super talented, she’s iconic, but on top of that, she’s super nice.”

After dinner, there was another performance in store.

People Are Sharing The "Not-So-Popular" Vacation Spots That Deserve WAY More Attention, And I'm Already Planning My Summer Vacation

"It's like Paris, only with a small fraction of the crowds..."

Hannah Loewentheil

BuzzFeed Staff

Don't get me wrong, there's a reason why places like Paris, Tokyo, and Los Angeles are popular tourist destinations. These places have so much to offer visitors. But it's a great big world out there, full of hidden gems and lesser-traveled locales. So, redditor u/Hot-Vegetable3827 asked, "Which not-so-popular country is a must-visit?" Here's what people said, including some members of the BuzzFeed Community.

1. "hydra, greece. my wife and i just took a long greek honeymoon. one island we really liked that isn't as well known as santorini and mykonos was hydra. in fact, it was probably our favorite island. there isn't much to do or see there, but it was very laid back and chill. it was basically a vacation from our vacation, which we needed after a couple of busy days of sightseeing in athens and before we went partying in mykonos. there aren't any cars on the island, only donkeys, and it's very walkable and small.".

2. "Laos. I totally fell in love with every last thing about this country. The people are fantastic, the food is killer, and the landscape is just gorgeous."

Aerial view of a winding river with adjacent forests and mountains during sunrise

— u/Westonworld

3. "Cartagena, Colombia. My wife and I went last year, and we have already planned our next visit. You can get there pretty easily and quickly from the US. There's cheap and delicious street food, friendly people, and nice weather all year round."

Narrow street with colonial buildings and a church tower in the distance

— u/Wakan_Tanka

"I always recommend Cartagena and the Rosario Islands. The whole week I spent there was cheap and incredible, and the Rosario Islands are on par with any tropical vacation spot but with hardly any tourists and extremely cheap."

— JessicaPage

4. "Slovenia. My wife was born there, and we go back every other year to see her family and friends. It's such a beautiful country. The secret is starting to get out now, especially Instagrammable places like Lake Bled and Predjama Grad. Granted, it's still nowhere near as crowded as similar countries like Croatia."

5. "Tunisia, especially Tunis and Monastir. I absolutely love it there. It's very cheap to visit, and the people are incredibly friendly."

6. "Curaçao. I had an amazing beach vacation there. It was much cheaper than the more well-known and visited Caribbean islands."

— u/Echo71Niner

8. "Sri Lanka. Damn, it is beautiful, and this country has it all: beaches, forests, mountains, ancient temples, and wildlife safaris. I loved the food there, including lots of curry. The beach areas offer a lot more culinary variety, like lots of fresh seafood."

9. "Ghent, Belgium is an incredible city. It's vibrant, historic, and fun! I would highly recommend a visit."

Historic European building with ornate facade, red and blue doors, and a vintage lamp post in front

— laughingcaptain56

10. "Malta. You'll find delicious food (it's sort of a mix of Arabic and Italian influences) and lots of historical places like ancient ruins. The capital, Valletta, is beautiful, and there are also two smaller islands called Gozo and Comino that you can visit. There's also extensive public transport, so it's easy to get around if you don't drive. I can't recommend it enough if you're the sort of person who's into exploring history, food, and culture."

A view down a historic street with three pedestrians and a distant harbor

— u/TheKnightsTippler

11. "Belfast is underrated, IMO. I wanted to revisit Dublin, but hotel prices are absolutely wild at the moment, so I went to Belfast instead. I found that it was a very interesting city with excellent food, pubs, music, culture, and proximity to the countryside for day trips. Everyone I met in the city was funny and friendly."

12. "Lyon. It’s a two-hour train ride from Paris but with a fraction of the population. It’s like the Florence of France with its walkability and world-class cuisine."

13. "Kazakhstan. Stunning nature and landscapes, a unique cuisine, and friendly people who are really generous to guests. It's also home to some fascinating archaeological sites."

— u/Meorazhar

14. "New Mexico. People who live in the US don't realize how unique and beautiful the landscape is. The drive from Española to Taos is probably one of my favorite in the world. The food really is second to none. Plus, there's a Balloon Fiesta. Enough said."

Sunset over a river with rocky cliffs on either side and grassy foreground

— rachadach23

15. "I absolutely love Guatemala. If you can speak even a little bit of Spanish, it's even better. Fly in, leave Guatemala City, and make Antigua your base. There's enough to see in Antigua and the surrounding areas that it can be a whole vacation alone, but there are also many places to visit on a day or overnight trip from Antigua."

Two distant volcanoes behind a misty landscape with scattered greenery and a clear foreground

— u/ShitfacedGrizzlyBear

16. "Bolivia. It has an amazing landscape, it's spotlessly clean, the people are friendly, and there's a lot of fun to be had if you want to party. I haven't been back in ten years, and I hope it's still as lovely. It holds a special place in my heart."

Cloudy sky reflected on a calm water surface at dusk

— u/canntrelaxneverrelax

17. "Jordan. Petra is easily the coolest thing I’ve ever seen with my own eyes. Pictures do not do it justice at all. You could fit elephants through the door of the Treasury. It’s wild."

Al Khazneh, also known as The Treasury, at Petra with visitors near its entrance

18. "Mongolia. There's really only one big city, Ulan Bator, and one or two days there is enough. But that countryside! It's so beautiful. I went out to a camp where I was set up with a ger (a Mongolian yurt), and you just hang out in the beauty of nature."

Aerial view of a cluster of traditional yurts in a vast grassy landscape at dawn or dusk

— u/da_choppada

19. "Sapporo, Japan. My husband and I went to this city on Japan's northern island of Hokkaido, and it was spectacular! When most people think about traveling to Japan, they think of Tokyo, but Sapporo is much less touristy, the mountains around the city are incredibly beautiful, and the food is to die for. A scenic hour-long bus ride takes you to the old city of Otaru, best known for its glass-blowing industry and beautiful canals. The subway system is amazing, and the people are friendly and helpful. I've been to a few places in my travels, but Sapporo stands out as the best so far. We already vowed to go back someday."

So nice, she bought it twice.

Taylor Swift might have access to every designer label under the sun, but over the course of her career, she’s made it a point to mix the pricier pieces in her closet with much more accessible ones — and her new favorite top certainly fits that description.

Following the release of her new album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” and lead single “Fortnight,” Swift kicked off the #ForAFortnightChallenge on YouTube Shorts by sharing footage of a few special moments from a recent two-week period in her life.

And in two of the featured clips, she’s seen wearing the bestselling Rumored Be Mine Top ($42), pairing the white version with a lavender Popflex Pirouette Skort ($60) for a game of pickleball and the black with jeans and a Tilly Sveaas T-bar necklace while cooking with ( and kissing ) boyfriend Travis Kelce.

If the latter look feels familiar, it’s likely because Swift also wore it while delivering her virtual acceptance speech after winning artist of the year during the iHeartRadio Music Awards earlier this month.

“Our team at Rumored has long admired Taylor since her debut album. We were beyond thrilled when she chose to wear Rumored. Taylor embodies the spirit of the women Rumored is designed for — confident, unapologetic dreamers and believers. It’s an honor to have her support,” brand founder Dacey Trotta tells Page Six Style.

Described by the New York-based company as “a soft and seamless essential,” the cap-sleeved shirt features a scoop neckline, form-fitting silhouette and cropped cut, and also comes in a light gray color in addition to Swift’s black and white.

And while sizes are flying out of stock swiftly, Rumored is restocking the style on May 5.

In the meantime, if your size is sold out, consider the Be Mine Minidress ($48), which boast the same flattering fit.

It’s not the first time Swift’s stocked up on a sartorial staple in multiple shades; while teasing “TTPD” in a series of preppy, collegiate-cool street style looks , she’s been spotted wearing a particular pleated Miu Miu miniskirt in several different neutral hues.

She also owns her go-to Polo Ralph Lauren baseball cap ($50) in both chino and corduroy varieties , and her favorite cable-knit sweater ($148+) from the same label in a whopping six different colors .
