The Kokomo boards in Wanchese on the Outer Banks and cruises the scenic Roanoke Sound in exploration of the magnificent paradise we call home. Our North Carolina shores offer breathtaking beauty that becomes a serene portrait aboard the Kokomo. Our goal for our guests is to search for bottlenose dolphins and local species of birds while taking pleasure in the splendid scenery along the way.
Bottlenose dolphins are well known for their intelligence, friendly disposition, and “smiling” faces. Dolphins have been interacting with humans for centuries and seem to have as much interest in us as we have in them. They often swim near the Kokomo, lifting their heads out of the water to get a glance at all the people onboard. As you embark on our 2 hour journey into the inland waters, we will witness some of the most spectacular scenes ever seen. The Roanoke Marshes Lighthouse on the east side of Roanoke Island stands watch over the quaint Manteo Waterfront. The Bodie Island Lighthouse is a majestic view from the Kokomo as we cruise south on the Roanoke Sound in search for dolphins.
The Osprey, also known as the fish hawk is always a welcomed sight from the Kokomo. Many say that the Osprey rule the Outer Banks, being a constant presence as they fly over our waters in search for their next meal. The OBX is home to a wide variety of birds of prey, waterfowl, wading birds, terns and gulls, and shorebirds. The spectacular Outer Banks sunsets make our sunset cruises a fabulous way to end your day and begin your evening.

This was our first dolphin/sunset cruise and we had a good time. Our captains were fun and had lots of stories and knowledge about the area. We had to drive quite a ways in order to find the dolphins, and we didn't see many up close, but dolphin sightings are not 100% guaranteed. The weather was not cooperating so we weren't able to see a sunset, but overall, it was a fun experience.
Had an Awesome time!! Will be returning, I would highly recommend! Thanks again! The captain is from the area, so he is very informative throughout the entire tour.
Overall: A great option for dolphin cruises and sunset cruises alike! The good: Our 2-man crew was informative, fun, and courteous throughout the entire trip. And, best of all, we saw plenty of dolphins! (I think they advertise a 98% chance to see them?) I was expecting to spot some maybe off in the distance or just passing by, but there was plenty to see and they were up close by the boat. It was great that the trip also consisted of cruising around the entire area and giving us a great sunset, instead of just focusing on the dolphins. 30-45 minutes of dolphins was great, but I'm glad they mixed it up. Also, for $20 a person, it was a great deal! The not-so-good: Not much! Just wish it was BYOB ;), and that the area to check in was a little more defined.
Super cheesy. I guess it's ok for the old folks and little kids but even my 4 year old was done after 20 minutes...2 hours is way too long. Saw dolphins within the first 30 minutes and then they take you on a "cruise" around to see absolutely nothing interesting...duck hunting lookouts and a lighthouse from a mile away. They don't mention it but bring a towel or your bathing suit because the people in the front half of the boat will get soaked. The boats are packed full so it's uncomfortable and there's no where to move if you don't want to get wet. Big waste of 2 hours for me!
They have a bar and corn hole while you wait to board. Family Monday saved $5 per person. A family of four (2 adults and 2 kids was $70). Captain J was an awesome captain. Christian an extremely knowledgeable guide. We went on the sunset cruise. It was beautiful. We saw many things and learned about the area. The boat is clean, the people were great. I highly recommend this cruise.
We had a wonderful time on our dolphin cruise yesterday! There were so many dolphins and we had special treat of seeing a baby dolphin! Captain Jay is the best!! We learned so much about the dolphins and he even taught us something about wrestling. Can't wait to do this cruise agai
First of all, it is an awesome boat ride all over the sounds and bays of the Outer Banks. You get 2 hours of awesome scenery and yes you will see Dolphins frolicking in their playground left and right, pretty up close. Captain Jay is passionate about his job and very knowledgeable of the area. Very, very good 20 bucks per person.
Jay and Scott made a great pair leading us out. We had a blast, learning about the area and seeing so many dolphins! Price is great too. Pontoon boat with shade, perfect for daytime cruises. Been on many dolphin tours over the years, these guys were great - highly recommend!
Awesome company. Super friendly staff. Great prices and we saw hundreds and I mean 100's of dolphins. They were swimming an playing. Would do again. Don't miss out.
It's a bird, a fish an a crab on the paradise Cruise
Dolphins doing back flips for us on The paradise cruise
We had a great time on this cruise. The kids had fun and we saw a ton of dolphins swimming close to the boat. The captain was great and really informative.

We took the sunset cruise with our group of senior adults and it was so much fun! The crew was so incredible and friendly. They made the last night of our vacation so memorable and special!
Great cruise! The crew was fantastic and really friendly. Will definitely be back again! I would recommend for all ages!
We did the sunset cruise for the first time and it did not disappoint! Andrew and Hunter were absolutely AMAZING!!!! We had so much fun and saw so many dolphins that I eventually lost count! I got some great photos and my grandson (1st time) who is 2 even got to "drive" the boat! I highly recommend this cruise and we will definitely be going back next summer!
After several days of high surf and winds, last night was the perfect night for the sunset/dolphin cruise. Andrew and Hunter took great care of us and took us to the best spots for seeing dolphins. We stopped counting because we saw so many. The sunset was beautiful too! I highly recommend taking a trip with Paradise Cruises.
First time going on a dolphin watching trip and had an amazing time. The crew were very friendly and knowledgeable. Would highly recommend the sunset cruise. Can't wait to do it again next year. Don't forget your camera!

From bourbon to brunch to beach, Wilmington food and drink events to check out in May
It’s a month that begins with the Kentucky Derby and Cinco de Mayo (and all of the bourbon and Mexican fare that come with them) and ends with a classic beach party weekend. And, oh yeah, the year's brunchiest holiday, Mother’s Day, is sandwiched in there, too. So of course, there’s a lot of food-and-drink fun on the calendar in May. Here’s a look at some local events.
May 1 : The Wilmington's Farmers Market is hosting a fundraiser to benefit their EBT Double Bucks program. It begins at 5 p.m. and includes a pig picking, a tour of Lizzy Lou's Flower Farm and two drink tickets. It takes place at Malachi Meadows, 197 Richard Switch Road in Currie. Tickets are $75 .
May 2 : It's the sixth year that Design NC takes place at the Cameron Art Museum. It's a two-day event that welcomes the very best in design and architecture. There's also a Cocktail Party that offers people a chance to eat, drink, and mingle. Look for music, and food from CAM Café , Covey, and drinks from End of Days Distillery. Cost is $100 for CAM members, or $150 for non-members , which includes a membership. It's 5:30-8:30 p.m. at 3201 S. 17th St., Wilmington.
May 2 : Nonnie’s Baking Co. is celebrating its first anniversary in business 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 1517 N. Howe St. in Southport. The first 10 customers will get a free slice of cake and shoppers can also enter to win a gift card giveaway.

30 reviews and 44 photos of PARADISE CRUISES "Went on this tour last week and the whole family enjoyed. We were traveling with 2 13 yr old boys, a 73 yr old, a 23 yr old and a mom and Dad. We chose the sunset tour assuming that even if the dolphin watching was not spectacular the scenery was likely to be. It turns out that both were. A rare glance of "onion" the dolphin was enjoyed by all.
