rock band tour dates 2023

As America, the perennial classic-rock favorite, hits the road in 2024, they're celebrating their 54th Anniversary with their powerful performances. America met in high school in London in the late 1960s and quickly harmonized their way to the top of the charts on the strength of their signature song "A Horse With No Name." America became a global household name and paved the way with an impressive string of hits following the success of their first #1 single. Fifty plus years later, these friends are still making music, touring the world and thrilling audiences with their timeless sound.

America's journey has found them exploring a wide variety of musical terrain. Their best-known tunes, which also include "I Need You," "Ventura Highway," "Don't Cross The River," "Tin Man," "Lonely People," and "Sister Golden Hair" were cornerstones of 1970's Top 40 and FM rock radio. Yet beyond their impressive catalog of hits, listeners would discover there was always much more to America than surface perceptions. The combination of melodic pop rock and folk-jazz elements, slinky Latin-leaning rhythms and impressionistic lyric imagery contrasted well with other more traditional country-rock leanings and highly personal lyrics.

America's albums--six certified gold and/or platinum, with their first greatest hits collection, History, hitting four plus million in sales--displayed a fuller range of the trio's talents than did their singles. Their material encompassed an ambitious artistic swath; from effects-laden rockers to oddball medleys to soul-bearing ballads, America displayed a flawless blend of disparate genres and styles as wide-open as the great American plains.

Enjoying massive success early in their career, America earned their stripes as musical soldiers on the battlefield amidst the excess, craziness and chaos of the 70's. The trio won the Grammy for Best New Artist in 1972 and began working with George Martin and Geoff Emerick in 1974. This successful team went on to record seven albums and several Top Ten hits, including "Tin Man," "Sister Golden Hair" and "Lonely People."

By the mid-70s, inter-band conflicts combined with an exhaustive touring and recording schedule exacted its toll on the group. With Peek's departure from the fold in 1977, the band rose to the challenge and carried ono. Shifts in sound and direction, changes in producers and managers, and a renewed dedication to the craft of songwriting helped rocket America to the upper reaches of the pop charts in 1982 with their smash single, "You Can Do Magic." During this tumultuous time in their career, the band immersed themselves in their craft, infusing a newfound maturity into their rich body of work. Their growth as singers, songwriters and musicians has continued into the present day as illustrated by landmark releases such as 2000's Highway 3-disc box set, 2002's Holiday Harmony, an album comprised of seasonal classics and live showcases, 2007's Here & Now, 2009's Live In Concert: Wildwood Springs, 2011's Back Pages, and 2015's Lost And Found and America: Archives Vol. 1.

In 2020, the band released their ultimate 8-disc anniversary box set, Half Century (America Records), and streamed their concert special America--Live at the London Palladium for the very first time (it is commercially available as a DVD and CD). 2020 also saw the release of the book America, the Band, An Authorized Biography by journalist Jude Warne. She weaves original interviews with the band and many others into a dynamic cultural history of America, the band, and America, the nation. Billy Bob Thornton wrote the foreword.

From their formative years, America has been a band capable of transcending borders with its uplifting music and positive message. Embracing a rainbow of divergent cultures, America's audiences continue to grow, comprising a loyal legion of first, second and third generation fans, all bearing testament to the group's enduring appeal.

KANSAS Announces 50th-Anniversary North American Tour

KANSAS , America's legendary progressive rock band, will embark on its 50th-anniversary tour this spring. Dubbed "Another Fork In The Road" , which is also the title of the group's recently released career-spanning compilation, the trek will kick off June 2 in Pittsburgh and run through January 28, 2024 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

"Our entire career has been a winding journey," KANSAS guitarist Richard Williams said in a press release. "Whether it's been the 'original' lineup signing with Don Kirshner , years on the bus, touring with QUEEN , worldwide success peaking with 'Leftoverture' and 'Point Of Know Return' , the valleys of the '90s and 'dinosaur bands' losing steam, various lineup changes, to our most recent 'rebirth' and success of our latest new music over the last eight years — there have been several forks in the road of that journey. This 50th-anniversary tour and release will represent that journey and the forks along that road."

Added singer Ronnie Platt : "I'm incredibly excited about the 50th-anniversary tour. I tell people I'm not allowed to create a setlist, because it would be five hours long. There are so many songs I want to perform live. I think fans will be excited not only to hear our hits and fan favorites spanning 50 years of KANSAS but also some songs that haven't been performed live in decades."

Tickets and KANSAS VIP packages for most dates go on sale to the public Friday, January 27, 2023. American Express Card Members can purchase tickets in select markets before the general public beginning Tuesday, January 24 at 10 a.m. local time through Thursday, January 26 at 10 p.m. local time.

With a legendary career spanning five decades, KANSAS has firmly established itself as one of America’s iconic classic rock bands. This "garage band" from Topeka released its debut album in 1974 after being discovered by Wally Gold , who worked for Don Kirshner , and has gone on to sell more than 30 million albums worldwide.

Composing a catalog that includes sixteen studio albums and five live albums, KANSAS has produced eight gold albums, three sextuple-platinum albums ( "Leftoverture" , "Point of Know Return" , "Best Of Kansas" ),one platinum live album ( "Two For The Show" ),one quadruple-platinum single ( "Carry On Wayward Son" ) and another triple-platinum single ( "Dust In The Wind" ). KANSAS appeared on the Billboard charts for over 200 weeks throughout the 1970s and 1980s and played to sold-out arenas and stadiums throughout North America, Europe and Japan. "Carry On Wayward Son" continues to be one of the top five most played songs on classic rock radio, and "Dust In The Wind" has been played on the radio more than three million times!

The summer of 2020 marked the release of "The Absence Of Presence" , KANSAS 's sixteenth studio album, which debuted at No. 10 on Billboard 's Top Current Albums chart. The wide-ranging progressive rock album, released by InsideOut Music , follows-up 2016's "The Prelude Implicit" , which debuted at No. 14 on the Billboard 200 chart.

JOURNEY has also received a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame and were inducted into the Hollywood Bowl Hall Of Fame. Additionally, the band is the subject of the award-winning documentary "Don't Stop Believin': Everyman's Journey" about the band's resurgence upon adding Arnel Pineda as lead singer after JOURNEY Founder, Neal Schon discovered the Philippines native on YouTube.

The members of TOTO are celebrating an accomplishment few bands have achieved in the modern era. Cumulative streams of the ensemble’s repertoire

now exceed 3 billion plays. Amongst the most listened to recordings, “Africa” accounts for over one billion streams at Spotify alone. This year the song was recertified by the RIAA 8X Platinum.

Over the past decade, the band has had a major renaissance in popularity like few bands at this point in their career. The audience is truly multi-generational, becoming younger with each passing year. Joining Steve Lukather and Joseph Williams are band members bassist John Pierce (Huey Lewis and The News), drummer Robert “Sput” Searight (Ghost-Note, Founding member Snarky Puppy, Snoop Dogg), keyboardist Dominique “Xavier” Taplin (Prince, Ghost-Note), multi-instrumentalist / vocalist Warren Ham (Ringo Starr) and keyboardist / background vocalist Steve Maggiora,. This line-up marks the fifteenth incarnation of Toto in consideration of band members or sidemen who joined or exited. Individually and collectively, few have had a larger imprint on pop culture than the members of TOTO. The family tree can be heard on an astonishing 5000 albums that together amass a sales history of a half a billion albums. Amongst these recordings, NARAS applauded the performances with hundreds of Grammy nominations.

With now 45+ years together and literally thousands of credits, including the biggest selling album of all time: Michael Jackson’s Thriller, and accolades to their names, TOTO remains one of the top selling touring and recording acts in the world. They are the benchmark by which many artists base their sound and production, and they continue to transcend the standards set by the entire music community, being simply synonymous with musical credibility. They are pop culture and are one of the few 70’s bands that have endured the changing trends and styles continuing to remain relevant.

Extreme band 2023

Extreme are hitting the road this summer with Living Colour. The trek kicks off on August 2 at the State Theatre in Portland, Maine and wraps up on August 29 at The Showbox in Seattle, Washington. Check out the full tour itinerary below. Venue pre-sales begin today, Wednesday, April 19, at 12pm local time HERE . General tickets and VIP Soundcheck Packages go on sale this Friday, April 21 at 10am HERE .

Additionally, the band revealed the videos for two new songs – “Banshee” and “Rebel” – which can be streamed below now.

Last month, Extreme announced SIX – their first new studio album in over a decade. The record arrives on June 9 via earMUSIC. It is the long awaited follow-up to 2008’s  Saudades de Rock . The band also revealed the video for the album’s lead single “Rise” which was directed by lead guitarist Nuno Bettencourt.

“Musically, it’s aggressive,” says frontman Gary Cherone about album opener “Rise.” “Lyrically, it’s a cautionary tale on the rise and fall of fame. You get seduced into it. Once you’re on top, they’ll rip you apart and tear you down. That’s the nature of the beast.”

In addition to directing the music video for “Rise,” Bettencourt also produced the record.

“When Eddie Van Halen passed, it really hit me,” shares Nuno. “I’m not going to be the one who will take the throne, but I felt some responsibility to keep guitar playing alive. So, you hear a lot of fire on the record.”

New York City natives Living Colour released their last studio album Shade back in 2017.

The Rolling Stones Rock Houston to Kick Off 2024 ‘Hackney Diamonds’ Tour With Live Debut of “Mess It Up”

by Matt Friedlander April 29, 2024, 10:45 am

The Rolling Stones ’ 2024 tour in support of their latest album, Hackney Diamonds , blasted off Sunday, April 28, at NRG Stadium in Houston.

Videos by American Songwriter

Appropriately enough, the British rock legends started things off with their classic 1981 hit “Start Me Up.” The band played for about two hours and the set featured 18 songs.

The show was made up mostly of versions of The Stones’ classic hits, including “Get Off My Cloud,” “Tumbling Dice,” “Can’t Always Get What You Want,” “Sympathy for the Devil,” “Honky Tonk Women,” “Miss You,” “Paint It Black,” and “Jumping Jack Flash.” “Beat of Burden” was added to the set thanks to a fan vote.

The band also played three songs from Hackney Diamonds —“Angry,” “Mess It Up,” and “Sweet Sound of Heaven.” The Houston concert marked the live debut of “Mess It Up,” while the other two previously had been played live only once, at The Stones’ intimate album-release party at the New York City club Racket in October 2023.

The set also included a few deep cuts from the group’s catalog—“Rocks Off,” “Out of Time,” and the Keith Richards-sung “Little T&A.”

The Rolling Stones brought the concert to a close with their signature song, “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction.”

The Rolling Stones’ Posted Photos on Their Social Media Sites

After the show, The Stones posted a message on their social media sites that read, “Thank you Houston! You were an amazing audience for the opening night!”

The post also featured a series of photos from the concert, including several pics of the audience and one of the evening’s set list. A separate post featured photos of the band members onstage.

Another shared, “I caught Ronnie [Wood’s] pick he used for Paint It Black. great show, finally got to see Beast of Burden.”

Alien Ant Farm and CKY announce joint UK tour – with a £1 ticket levy for grassroots venues

“We have seen the work that Music Venue Trust are doing for grassroots venues across the UK and were inspired to lend our support”

Dryden Mitchell of Alien Ant Farm and Chad I Ginsburg of CKY

Alien Ant Farm have announced a joint headline tour with CKY, which will come with a £1 ticket levy to help support grassroots venues. Find ticket details below.

  • READ MORE: Report shows “disaster” facing grassroots music venues: “The big companies and arenas are now going to have to answer for this”

The announcement of the upcoming 2024 shows comes on the heels of California nu-metal band sharing ‘~mAntras~’ last week – marking their first new album in nearly a decade.

Set to kick off towards the beginning of November, the shows will see frontman Dryden Mitchell and co. join forces with CKY for a run of joint headline dates across the UK.

The gigs follow on from a series of European shows, which kick off in October, and launch with an opening night at the Dreamland venue in Margate on November 9. From there, shows in Manchester, Bristol, Nottingham, Birmingham, Glasgow and more are lined up for the remainder of the month, before the shows wrap up with a closing set at London’s O2 Forum Kentish Town on November 24.

Both Alien Ant Farm and CKY have also become the first first American bands to support Music Venue Trust (MVT) by adding an optional £1 donation to support grassroots music venues on the UK dates. The MVT will distribute donations to small, local, grassroots music venues across the country to ensure the music ecosystem continues to support new and developing artists.

“We’ve always loved our UK tours! For over 20 years we have been able to play shows all around our “home away from home” and we’re excited to see old friends and fans on this run. We’ve watched CKY as fans through the years but have never had the pleasure to meet and tour with them. We think this is a proper nice fit,” said Alien Ant Farm frontman Dryden Mitchell.

“As a band, we have seen the work that Music Venue Trust are doing for grassroots venues across the UK and were inspired to lend our support. We are honoured to be the first American bands to be involved in this initiative and would urge other artists who enjoy playing in the UK to follow suit.”

CKY’s Chad I Ginsburg continued: “We are beyond ecstatic and ready to cross the pond once again, and return to one of our most favourite places in the world to perform and tour, celebrating 25 years of CKY! We are playing songs spanning our career and looking forward to an amazing tour with AAF.”

Tickets, along with the optional £1 donation to Music Venue Trust, will go on sale on Thursday (May 2) at 10am BST. Visit here to buy tickets and check out a full list of tour dates below.

Alien Ant Farm and CKY’s 2024 UK tour dates are:

9 – Margate, Dreamland 10 – Southampton, 1865 12 – Bristol, O2 Academy 13 – Torquay, The Foundry 15 – Norwich, Epic Studios 16 – Birmingham, O2 Institute 17 – Nottingham, Rock City 18 – Newcastle, NX 20 – Glasgow, SWG3 21 – Manchester, O2 Ritz 22 – Bradford, Nightrain 23 – Patti Pavilion 24 –London, O2 Forum Kentish Town

The news that both Alien Ant Farm and CKY will be supporting grassroots venues across the UK with their tour follows a similar move by Enter Shikari last year. Last May, the band shared details of a 2024 run of UK tour dates, where £1 from each ticket sold was donated to the Music Venue Trust .

The idea was spurred by the band’s incentive to give back to the local venues which continue to support them throughout their careers.

“Grassroots music venues in the UK are under existential threat. Every time we lose another one we lose a vital part of our culture,” explained frontman Rou Reynolds at the time. “Bigger venues that benefit from the productive pipeline that grassroots venues provide need to support these smaller venues, as do the artists that have come up through them. Enter Shikari stands with Music Venue Trust in their efforts to bring more solidity and community to our brilliant UK live music scene.”

After the incentive from the band was announced, it was later reported that the UK was set to lose 10 per cent of its grassroots music venues in 2023, and further calls were made for larger venues to pay into the ecosystem and help protect grassroots spaces .

Rou Reynolds of Enter Shikari performs at The Academy Dublin on March 21, 2024 in Dublin, Ireland.

The Music Venue Trust revealed to NME that 67 venues had closed by September 2023, and 90 were working with MVT’s Emergency Response. It also shared a prediction that around 100 grassroots music would be lost from the UK by the end of the year – the equivalent of 10 per cent of the country’s independent gig spaces.

“It sounds like there’s a lot of focus on providing spaces for the real high-end of the music industry,” Reynolds told NME at the time. “There are a lot of new arenas on the way, while at the same time there is no support whatsoever for the grassroots circuit. There’s a very clear link between small venues and big venues – especially in the terms of providing new artists with a space to find their way in the industry and find their audience.

“We’re going to have all these new arenas without supporting the ways that artists can grow into them. It just all seems a bit silly!”

He continued, recalling how the band found it easy to enforce the £1 incentive. “The ticket prices are the same price as they were always going to be. We were keen to keep them below £40 and £1 from every ticket isn’t really going to effect us… More importantly, this is about getting those big venues to really start supporting this and helping the grassroots sector.”

“For us, it just seems like the obvious thing to do,” he added. “We wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for these venues. The sad thing is that a lot of the venues that helped us are no longer here. I don’t want to see any more of them disappear. It’s not just me wanting to give back to associate some kind of personal sense of morality. We know how important these venues are.”

Music Venue Trust CEO Mark Davyd hailed Enter Shikari’s example, and encouraged others in the music industry to contribute the keeping small gig spaces alive.

“I keep being told, ‘It’s too hard to find a way to connect the most successful bands with the most struggling venues’ – but it turns out it isn’t, because Enter Shikari just did it,” he told NME . “They didn’t ask anyone’s permission, they just phoned me up and said, ‘By the way, we’ve done this’.”

Murray Matravers of Easy Life performs on stage at Brudenell Social Club during Live At Leeds festival on May 04, 2019 in Leeds, England.

The pressures faced by grassroots music venues across the UK has continued into 2024, and the news of Alien Ant Farm and CKY supporting the MVT with their upcoming shows comes just weeks after various artists and figures from the live music industry headed to Parliament to push for a mandatory £1 ticket levy on all gigs arena-sized and above .

Held at the end of March, the Culture Media & Sport Committee headed to parliament and held evidence sessions with figures from across the industry to see what can be done.

“We’re a huge net exporter of music – where does that all start? It all starts at a grassroots music venue,” argued Davyd at the hearing. “Even if your career didn’t start there, then your inspiration and aspiration started there because you lived in a community with music. If you take that away, then we’re taking away the starter motor of our entire industry. We need to really think about that and plan for the future because we do not have a plan at the moment.”

The points raised by Davyd coincided with the report shared by the MVT in January, which found that 2023 was the “most challenging year”, and saw 125 UK venues abandon live music and that over half shut entirely .

Overall, it was found that venues’ rent had increased by 37.5 per cent, with them operating at an average profit margin of just 0.5 per cent, and MVT COO Beverley Whitrick highlighted how the demand for live music hadn’t disappeared.

“23.6million people visited a grassroots music venue in the UK in 2023, which is an increase on the previous year. Sometimes people say to us when they ask about closures, ‘Is it that people are not interested in going anymore?’ Of course, that’s not the case at all,” she said.

“The wish to see artists, to connect with them in small spaces in local venues is as high as it’s ever been.”

Ghost Will Haunt U.S. Amphitheaters on a Summer Tour

Papa Emeritus IV is coming to an amphitheater near you. Ghost , the Swedish hard-rock band led by the man of a thousand faces, Tobias Forge, has announced a U.S. summer tour .

Titled the Re-Imperatour U.S.A. 2023, the trek begins August 2nd in Concord, California, and plays 27 dates, wrapping up September 11th in Los Angeles. Along the way, the tour hits cities like Chicago, Milwaukee, Tampa, Austin, and Phoenix. Fellow Swedish metalheads Amon Amarth open all dates except the L.A. closer.

Ghost released their latest album, Impera , last year, a record that rails against bloated nations, empty leaders, and the glorification of stupidity. “We now have mechanisms within our own Western empire who are actively trying to, and to some degree have, created this time machine where we’re regressing,” Forge told Rolling Stone . “We’re flattening the earth. We’re submitting to stupidity, which is fucking unbelievable.”

Sleep Token are currently in the US and will start their Teeth Of God North American run tomorrow at the Financial Theatre in Phoenix, Arizona.

The band are promoting their 2023 album Take Me Back To Eden , which was released via Spinefarm.

Metal Hammer gave Take Me Back To Eden a glowing 8/10 review upon release.

Journalist Dannii Leivers wrote: “Combining feeling and sound in a potent, masterful statement, …Eden is Sleep Token’s strongest effort to date.

“And, while they’ll always be Marmite, there’s no question it will delight those already onboard.

“This is a record that not only expands the band’s universe and continues to prod metal’s boundaries, but considers what it means to be human. Otherworldly they may be, but there’s the deepest empathy within.”

Sleep Token have since inked a deal with major label RCA.

The band announced the signing by calling it the start of their “new era”, which they’d previously teased by unveiling new masks in December 2023.

Mask designer Lani Hernadez-David stated in an interview with Metal Hammer that month: “I’m sure they have something in mind that the fans will appreciate greatly.

“There’s definitely a new era coming, but I won’t speak too much on that, because I’m not really clued up on it.”

Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour took over Houston in 2023. Can The Rolling Stones top it?

T he Rolling Stones tour is set to make a stop at NRG Stadium Sunday for the band’s first Houston concert since 2019. The performance comes on the heels of an album release by another music legend — Taylor Swift — whose three-day stop in Houston one year ago received shows of appreciation from fans and elected officials alike.

With the Stones' Hackney Diamonds Tour underway and Swift's 11th studio album , "The Tortured Poets Department,” that dropped last week, both music industry icons maintain dedicated fanbases worldwide.

The 1960s rock n' roll band has been performing for decades. The Stones hold a record for drawing one of the largest crowds in rock n’ roll history during a show in Rio de Janeiro , with 1.5 million people, PBS reported. Swift is no stranger to large crowds either, with one of her shows in Melbourne seeing more than 96,000 people, according to Deadline.

However, both music artists made their mark in Houston during their most recent concerts: the Stones' No Filter Tour in 2019 and Swift's Eras Tour in 2023. The success of their concerts highlighted their strong fanbases in the Bayou City.

TAYLOR SWIFT : Here's a look at Texas ties to the latest release 'The Tortured Poets Department'

How did the city react to The Rolling Stones' 2019 concert?

Excited fans first caught on to the Rolling Stones’ planned 2019 Houston concert when NRG Park teased the tour stop in an email. Park officials sent an email to subscribers with the band's logo at the end of the email and no further explanation.

The 2019 show would be the Stones’ first Houston appearance in more than 10 years. The group even teamed up with the NFL for a Houston Texans—Rolling Stones jersey.

NRG Stadium officials said the venue is happy to have the band back any time.

"We're thrilled to host the legendary Rolling Stones at NRG Stadium as the first stop on their Hackney Diamonds Tour. As Mick Jagger might say, 'Start me up' – and what better place to kick off this iconic tour than right here in Houston? We look forward to welcoming fans from near and far to enjoy a night of timeless rock 'n' roll classics. Get ready to rock the night away at NRG Stadium!" stadium officials said in a statement.

How did the city react to Taylor Swift's 2023 concert?

Houston was the second city on Swift's Eras Tour .

A marketing campaign was launched to temporarily rename NRG Stadium to "NRG Stadium - Taylor's Version," initiated by NRG Park and Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo's office. Banners were placed with the temporary name on the stadium's north and south entrances.

The City Hall also honored Swift and her mother, a University of Houston alum, by lighting the building in a “lavender haze.”

How many tickets were sold at The Rolling Stones' 2019 concert?

The Rolling Stones had to postpone their 2019 No Filter Tour dates in North America because of Mick Jagger’s heart surgery. But the rescheduled concert still brought in more than 40,000 fans for its one-night stop in Houston.

How many tickets were sold at Taylor Swift's 2023 concert?

During Taylor Swift's three sold-out performances at NRG Stadium, more than 180,000 tickets were distributed, which averaged about 60,000 a day.

NRG CONCERTS : The Rolling Stones announce Houston set for next spring

The impact of The Rolling Stones' 2019 concert in Houston

The organization Houston First found that the hotel market revenue during the Stones’ concert was $16 million between July 26-28, 2019. The occupancy was about 64%.

The impact of Taylor Swift's 2023 concert in Houston

The impact of Taylor Swift's three-day tour in Houston wasn't only shown through the name change at NRG Stadium, but also in the economic impact.

Her tour happened the same weekend as a large convention downtown which likely contributed to the boost in Houston’s market, according to Houston First. Still, the organization found that the hotel market revenue was a whopping $34 million between April 21-23, 2023, which was a 30% increase from the same three days in 2022. The occupancy was about 78%.

Breaking news, expect the unexpected at katharine mcphee and david foster’s 2024 tour.

David Foster (L) and Katharine McPhee stand next to each other onstage with microphones in hand.

When Katharine McPhee and David Foster go on the road, it’s a family affair.

Not only do the married couple perform together — McPhee, of “Smash” and “Waitress” fame belts classics from her extensive catalog while Foster known for his work on “St. Elmo’s Fire” and countless other films and records mans the keys— they also recently brought their two-year-old son Rennie onstage to play the drums with them at Washington, D.C.’s Kennedy Center.

“He only had to wait two years to play there. I had to wait my whole life,” Foster joked in an exclusive interview with the New York Post.

While Foster’s quip may make it sound like he’s been twiddling his thumbs waiting for gigs, he and McPhee have been far from inactive these past few years.

Not only have the musically gifted duo have toured extensively together, they’re about to kick off the next leg of their ongoing run where they’ll make stops at Waterloo, NY’s The Vine at Del Lago Resort and Casino on Saturday, May 11, Staten Island’s St. George Theatre on Friday, May 17 and Atlantic City’s Hard Rock Hotel and Casino on Saturday, May 18.

As expected, fans can expect to hear hits from the lovebirds’ impressive back catalogs at all shows.

“I’ve been around forever, so I have a long list of songs that did well and a lot of songs that didn’t do well,” Foster smiled.

“Kat has her ‘Smash’ repertoire, songs from ‘Waitress’ on Broadway and her ‘American Idol’ stint. It’s just a fun-filled night. Sometimes, I make her do a Céline Dion impression, and then that will lead to a Céline song.” “I love doing them,” McPhee chimed in. “I just don’t want to bomb the high notes.”

And if you dream of catching the bubbly pair live — they say the show is for fans of Céline Dion, Whitney Houston, the band Chicago, Michael Buble and “Smash” — last-minute tickets can still be scooped up for all upcoming concerts.

And yes, aspiring vocalists are welcome, too.

“I go into the audience and ask people if they want to sing,” Foster explains. “When they’re good, the audience goes crazy. So if you’re a singer, come on down. If you wave your hand hard enough, I’ll pick you.”

Want to see the one-of-a-kind couple — and maybe sing along with them and their drummer son — live?

You’re in the right place, McPhee-nds and Foster fans.

We’ve got everything you need to know and more about Katharine McPhee and David Foster’s 2024 tour below.

This interview has been edited and condensed for clarity.

Katharine McPhee and David Foster tour schedule 2024

A complete calendar including all tour dates, venues and links to buy tickets can be found below.

Katharine McPhee and David Foster set list

While McPhee and Foster like to keep things fresh and mix up the set list, things stay fairly consistent on a gig to gig basis.

For a closer look of what to expect, here’s what they played at a recent concert in South Carolina, courtesy of Set List FM .

01.) “Snowbirds” 02.) “Winter Games” (David Foster cover) 03.) “St. Elmo’s Fire” 04.) “Cry Me a River” (Julie London cover) 05.) “Singin’ in the Rain” (Nacio Herb Brown cover) 06.) “Over the Rainbow” 07.) “Man in Motion (St. Elmo’s Fire)” 08.) “You Raise Me Up” (Secret Garden cover) 09.) “You Used to Be Mine” from Waitress 10.) Drum Medley by JR 11.) Audience Songs (2) 12.) Chicago Medley 13.) “Let Me Be Your Star / Don’t Forget Me” from Smash 14.) “Redneck Woman” from Smash 15.) “The Prayer” (Céline Dion cover) 16.) “Nessun dorma” (Giacomo Puccini cover) 17.) “Got to Be Real” (Cheryl Lynn cover)

18.) “I’ll Be Seeing You” 19.) “Love”

“Boop” the Musical

On top of touring, Foster also wrote the music for the musical “Boop” that sends the classic Black and White cartoon character into the 21st century. The show ran at Chicago’s CIBC Theatre in 2023.

“‘Boop’ has been a labor of love,” Foster gushed. “We had a great run in Chicago. We have a great team. If all things go well, I think we’ll be on Broadway by February (2025).”

David Foster rock and roll history

Prior to his piano ballad days, Foster played with a number of the most beloved rock stars from the 20th century.

“I have rock and roll roots,” Foster told us. “Not much though, because if you know my music at all, (you know that) when I lay my hands on the piano, it’s pretty soft.”

After playing with Chuck Berry as a 16-year-old back in the mid 1960s, Foster worked with three (!) of the four Beatles.

“I spent a lot of time with George Harrison, thanks to my friend, the drummer Jim Keltner, who introduced me,” he said. “I was sitting in my little condo with no furniture and the phone rings (and when) I heard ‘Hello, this is George Harrison’ it was one of the most mind blowing moments of my life. We did a couple of albums together in the mid-70s where I played piano and arranged the music.”

Foster also produced Paul McCartney’s 1989 album “Flowers In The Dirt” and played on a record with Ringo Starr.

Huge 2024 concert tours

In the unfortunate event that Foster and McPhee aren’t headed to a venue near you in the next few months, there are plenty of other great acts that just may make their way to your neck of the woods.

Here are just five of our favorites you won’t want to miss live.

•  Idina Menzel

• Norah Jones

No one rocks like The Rolling Stones: Mick Jagger, band thrill on Hackney Diamonds Tour

rock band tour dates 2023

HOUSTON − It’s not only stunning, but it's somewhat miraculous that more than 60 years after their first tour, the Rolling Stones are still filling stadiums.

It’s even more head-spinning to realize that along with their treasured hits, the Rolling Stones are enhancing their set list with a trio of songs from last year’s well-received “Hackney Diamonds” – their first album of original material in 18 years and the impetus for this 16-city tour.

We’d call it a victory lap, but frontman Mick Jagger is better suited for marathons.

At the kickoff Sunday at NRG Stadium in Houston, the core triumvirate of Jagger, Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood – along with their supporting cast of exceptional musicians and singers – hit the massive stage to the sounds of Richards’ slashing out the riff of, fittingly, “Start Me Up.”

Jagger, the nimble CEO of Stones Inc., peacocked in a silver shimmering jacket, his elastic legs a mere pedestal for his rotating torso.

Richards, still owning his disheveled pirate look with a knit cap and multicolored scarf dangling from his hip, and Wood, grinning continuously and occasionally scampering down the lengthy catwalk, retained their roles as faithful consiglieres.

There isn’t a patch of smooth facial skin among them (Jagger and Richards are 80 and Wood is 76). But with the energy to plow through an 18-song, two-hour set – yes, shorter than previous Stones shows, but still fulfilling – no one is looking to crown them pageant winners.

While the band needed a couple of songs to fully find their groove – the striding cadence of a reworked “Get Off Of My Cloud” and a ramshackle “Rocks Off” felt curious rather than robust – Jagger compensated with his riveting presence and still-supple vocals.

Along with the “Hackney Diamonds” songs plucked for their major live debuts (the band played a few of the new tracks at an intimate New York club gig in October ), including the feisty “ Angry ” and encore of gospelized “ Sweet Sounds of Heaven ,” the 1966 tune “ Out of Time ” also received its U.S. debut. The band revived it last year during some performances for the overseas Sixty tour.

“I don’t think you really knew it, but you got to know it,” Jagger said with a smile after leading the nearly full stadium through the arm-waving chorus.

As typical for a Rolling Stones production, the stage ran the width of the stadium, blanketed with screens beaming images of the band with magnificent clarity. Close-ups of drummer Steve Jordan, who assumed rhythm duties after the death of original drummer Charlie Watts in 2021, joyfully thundering through the gem “ Paint It, Black ” and birthday boy Chuck Leavell ripping out a fleet-fingered solo on his Yamaha keyboard on “Honky Tonk Women” offered fans a peek at the magic happening a few feet behind Jagger and Co.

During the always-visceral “ Sympathy for the Devil ,” as serpents and fire crawled across the screens, Jagger prowled through the sinister groove, augmented by percussion provided by background vocalist Bernard Fowler and chunky bass lines from Darryl Jones.

Keyboardist Matt Clifford added French horn to “ You Can’t Always Get What You Want ” as Jagger, playing an acoustic guitar, strolled through the message of acquiescence that escalated into a gospel throwdown.

The horn duo of Karl Denson and Tim Ries coated many familiar anthems – “Jumpin’ Jack Flash” and “Miss You” among them – with their rich brass sounds. But, as fans have realized over the decades, the ominous “Gimme Shelter” remains a centerpiece of any Rolling Stones concert, and Jagger has a new onstage playmate in powerhouse background vocalist Chanel Haynes.

The woman who starred as Tina Turner in the West End musical of Turner’s life and officially became part of the band last year steamrolled through “Gimme Shelter” with a voice blaring attitude and vigor. As she and Jagger strolled the catwalk, sharing vocals and chemistry, Jagger wisely backed off a couple of times, allowing Haynes to unleash her theatrical verve.

But this is still Jagger’s circus, and whether he’s bobbing like a jittery prizefighter or wiggling his shoulders like the world’s most slender Chippendales dancer, he is an octogenarian who captivates.

The band has enlisted various openers throughout the tour. In Houston, blues-rock guitar ace – and Texas native – Gary Clark Jr. landed the opening-night slot and for 45 minutes enchanted the mostly full stadium.

With a large band – five musicians, three background vocalists – behind him, Clark was the epitome of cool in dark shades and a bandanna as he took the stage with “Maktub” from his recently released fourth album, “JPEG Raw.”

Clark is a big name for an opener (then again, it is the Rolling Stones) and he used his time well with massive licks on the crunch rockers “Bright Lights” and “This is Who We Are,” with singer Naala joining him.

The soul-inflected “Feed the Babies” seared as a set highlight as the singer/guitarist displayed sizzling playing and a breezy vibe for the crowd.
