Star Tours – The Adventure Continues: Everything You Need to Know

posted by Charmaine Cortes on June 11, 2023 // last updated on June 11, 2023

Star Wars has been in the hearts and minds of people around the world since it debuted in 1977. The popular film series comes to life at Disney World in Orlando, Florida with the Star Tours – The Adventures Continues ride. The ride includes a high-definition, 3-D film in a flight simulator.

Fans of the movie saga will recognize scenes from the films, including clips from The Force Awakens. Because of the sheer number of fans who come to Disney to experience Star Wars, knowing all the details about the Star Tours – The Adventure Continues ride can make your visit to the parks more magical.

Important Factors to Consider

Disney characters you’ll see in the ride, history of the ride, what happens in the ride, potential sights in star tours, stop at the store on your way out, easter eggs in the queue, continuity in the star wars universe.

The ride is located in Disney’s Hollywood Studios . In the Echo Lake area. The ride lasts about seven minutes, and riders should expect to wait about an hour. While the line might cause riders to leave, it’s helpful to know the ride is one of the best in the park, so the wait is worthwhile. The ride has a large capacity, so the lines move quickly.

Riders sit in a flight-simulator cockpit, so if you are in a scooter or wheelchair, you’ll have to transfer out of it to get into the ride. Disney requires all riders to be at least 40 inches tall. Unfortunately, The Star Wars ride does not have a ride swap program, but the ride is climate controlled with air conditioning and heat.

Disney warns that the ride can trigger motion sickness for people who are sensitive to it. If you are prone to motion sickness, consider sitting in the middle of the ride. The back row is the best choice for people who want more motion during the ride.

A benefit of the Star Tours – The Adventure Continues ride is the variation of each ride. Disney has over 50 opening and closing scenes. You could visit the ride throughout the day and never have the same experience twice.

While flying through the Star Wars world, riders will enjoy seeing their favorite characters. The ride features characters like Rey and Kylo Ren from the new trilogy, and it includes classic characters like Darth Vader, Chewbacca, Yoda, and the Droids.

The first Star Wars ride opened as Star Tours in 1989, and Disney gave it a refresh with a redesign in 2011 that is still open to the public today. Disney frequently offered Star Wars Weekends where fans could interact with their favorite Star Wars characters who wandered around the Ewok park near the ride.

Disney updated the ride in 2019 after The Rise of Skywalker arrived in theaters, after updating the ride to add characters from The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi. Disney added more video clips and audio-animatronics.

Visitors can ride Star Tours – The Adventure Continues at Disney World in Orlando, Disneyland in California , Tokyo Disneyland in Japan, and Disneyland Park in Paris, France.

Riders at the park in Tokyo get a special Easter egg when they enter the queue. The first room they enter while in the line features a billboard of potential travel destinations, one of them being Spaceport THX1138, named for the first movie George Lucas made.

Otherwise, guests encounter their first Star Wars characters when they enter the hangar with the StarSpeeder 1000. Iconic droids C-3PO and R2-D2 are working on the speeder and a set of commercials share information about flight lists and space stations.

The next step includes a security droid scanning baggage and broadcasting the items on a screen. Guests will quickly recognize several Easter eggs from Star Wars and Disney. They will eventually reach the boarding area where C-3PO is chatting with AC-38 about the status of the speeder.

AC-38 (Ace) inspects the ship, then the ship takes off and C-3PO and R2-D2 take the controls. At takeoff, you’ll face one of many obstacles including an angry Kylo Ren and a checkpoint filled with Stormtroopers. It all happens while being chased by the First Order.

Your Star Tours ride could include interactions with Han Solo and the Millennium Falcon. YOu could also see Boba Fett, TIE fighters, and Kylo Ren with First Order stormtroopers.

All rides stop at one of five planets including Hoth, Kashyyyk, Tatooine, Jakku, and Kef Bir. While visiting these planets, riders could encounter snow speeders, speeder bikes with Wookiees, pod races, First Order TIE fighters, or a Death Star Mobile Battle Station.

After stopping at or around the first planet, riders will receive a hologram message from Yoda, Admiral Ackbar, Princess Leia, BB-8, Maz Kanata, Poe Dameron, or Lando Calrissian. The messenger will announce the next step of the journey.

The second leg of the journey includes one of five stops: Coruscant, Naboo, Geonosis, Crait, Exegol, or Batuu. On the visit, riders could end up attacked by Buzz droids while in a star battle. They could meet Jar Jar Binks after a battle above Naboo. Riders chased by Boba Fett could end up on Geonosis.

Riders who end up in a non-canon location could be forced to survive a battle between the First Order and the Resistance. They could also face the Sith Eternal Forces, and finally, they could visit Spaceport THX1138.

In typical Disney and Star Wars fashion, all exits feature shops loaded with Star Wars merchandise. At Disneyland, the store is appropriately named The Star Trader, while the Disney World store is named Tatooine Traders. The Star Wars shop looks like it could be at home on Tatooine. Some merchandise can only be found at these shops, making them popular with fans.

Disneyland reused several animatronic geese to make the G2 repair droids you’ll see in the queue. If you listen carefully, you’ll hear the droids singing various versions of “I’ve Been Working on the Railroad,” which is a song the original geese sang in the America Sings ride.

The Easter eggs continue as the G2-9T droid answers a call from a supervisor by harkening back to A New Hope saying “Uh, everything’s perfectly alright now, w-we’re fine. We’re all fine here now, thank you. Uh, how are you?” – just like Han Solo did.

The Easter eggs continue in the scanned luggage. People in the queue will notice a Goofy doll, Jar Jar Binks, Chip and Dale, and the lamp from Aladdin. If you’re lucky, you’ll see WALL-E, Madame Leota, or Stitch. Occasionally, riders get to see Sorcerer Mickey’s hat, V.I.N.C.E.N.T., a snowflake, the Mighty Microscope, Mike Wazowski’s teddy bear, and Indiana Jones gear.

Star Wars – The Adventure Continues is one of the most popular rides at all Disney Parks. The ride is pure joy for Star Wars fans who enjoy the surprises and Easter eggs in the queue and the ride itself.

Disney is dedicated to providing several Star Wars rides, especially in the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge section of Hollywood Studios with a few more rides, shops, and restaurants themed after the epic film series.

We love the "Star Tours" easter eggs you find as you wait in line. What's your favorite?

ANAHEIM, CA — Disneyland Resort's premier Tomorrowland attraction, "Star Tours," turns 35 years old on Sunday. The fan-favorite attraction has transported Disney and "Star Wars" fans to galaxies far, far away since 1987, and the immersive experience has taken us to Endor, Tatooine and Hoth.

The ride opened 10 years after the release of the first "Star Wars" movie. Guests step through the gates and into an interstellar spaceport.

Inside, easter eggs abound. There's a chance to watch C-3PO and R2-D2 dish over a starship. Droids scan the crowd for safety measures. Over the years, more visuals have been incorporated, such as silhouettes of fellow travelers including Jawas, bounty hunter Boba Fett and even Darth Vader. If you're lucky, you may find a "hidden Mickey" or two.

"Star Tours" was the brainchild of Disneyland's finest "imagineers" working with George Lucas and his visual effects house, Industrial Light and Magic. The idea was simple: Allow guests to step inside the "Star Wars" story.

Since then, "Star Tours" has kept pace with each iteration of the feature films, adding scenes and immersive experiences to further draw us into the "Star Wars" universe.

At the 1987 grand opening of "Star Tours," Disneyland remained open for three days and nights in a solid 60-hour-party, accommodating guests who would wait in hourslong lines to board their ship and see what scenes would appear on the ever-changing attraction.

Princess Leia, Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Chewbacca, Ewoks and Darth Vader joined Michael Eisner, then chairman and CEO of the Walt Disney Co. Lucas and Mickey Mouse cut the ribbon with a lightsaber, furthering the magic.

In the beginning, we would cheer if we got to see Chewbacca's world of Kashyyyk. Years later, we would merely sigh when we had another chance to go podracing. By 2011, more scenes were added as more feature films offered new scenes and adventures to thrill guests.

"Star Tours" is forever a must-ride at the park for our family, even with the addition of "Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge" and "Rise of the Resistance."

The subject of this article exists in or is relevant to the real world.

Star Tours: The Adventures Continue is a Disney simulator ride theme park attraction located in Disneyland at Disneyland Resort in California , Disney's Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World in Florida , Tokyo Disneyland at Tokyo Disney Resort in Tokyo , Japan and Disneyland Park at Disneyland Paris in Paris , France . It officially opened in Florida on May 20 , 2011 , [4] in California on June 3 , 2011, [5] in Tokyo on May 7 , 2013 and in Paris on March 18 , 2017 . [6] Early promotional materials referred to the ride as Star Tours II , [3] while the alternate name Star Tours 3-D was used when the ride first opened. [7]

The attraction replaced the original Star Tours attraction and serves as its prequel, taking place between Episodes III and IV and tying both trilogies together. Additional elements from Episode VII were added in late 2015 to promote the new film, while scenes depicting the planets Crait and Batuu from Episode VIII and Star Wars : Galaxy's Edge respectively were added on November 17 , 2017 . Additions from Episode IX featuring the moon of Kef Bir and Exegol debuted on December 20 , 2019 . [8] At the Star Wars Celebration Europe 2023 , it was announced that more destinations would be added to the rides in California, Florida and Paris in 2024 [9] , with Disneyland's debut of the those scenes taking place during the Season of the Force event from April 5th to June 2nd . [10]

Some footage from the initial version of the ride appeared years later as part of a flight simulator in the Star Wars : Millennium Falcon themed area of the Disney Dream cruise ship. [11]

Plot summary [ ]

Star Tours 2 cabin

The ride's passenger cabin

Unlike the original Star Tours , the ride has twenty-one (originally eleven) segments that are randomly chosen during each viewing. In all, the various options resulted in 54 possible combinations. [13] [14] Two new segments added in 2015 to promote The Force Awakens were locked into place for the duration of the Season of the Force event, after which the randomization was re-enabled. Additionally, variations of existing segments created in 2011 were activated for the first time, [15] increasing variability further during the lock. The 2017 addition of material to promote The Last Jedi brought in more sequel trilogy content to create a full experience focused on the era as a result of criticism of the Jakku segment mismatching the rest of the attraction. The 2019 addition of The Rise of Skywalker material, initially presented as a locked experience, allowed the sequel trilogy to share more of the original unpredictability by providing two additional planets to shuffle through when the lock was removed. 2024 would see the addition of Seatos as a second planet option and additional hologram messages from Cassian Andor , Ahsoka Tano with Huyang and Chopper , and Din Djarin with Grogu . While Ahsoka and Cassian specifically reference the Rebellion, Din's message is more ambiguous, potentially allowing him to play within either era. Scenes based on the Sequel trilogy and new Canon TV series are considered non-canon here, since the original ride is part of the Legends continuity .

Queue and boarding [ ]

In one feature exclusive to the version of the ride at Tokyo Disneyland, guests first enter a room with a large video billboard advertising various travel destinations and revealing other details of the story, such as identifying the Star Tours terminal as only one part of Spaceport THX1138 . Also in the version of the ride in Tokyo Disneyland guests pass RX-23 and HHG-RX and two other droids standing in poses in reference to the hitchhiking ghosts from the Haunted Mansion.

Star Tours 2 queue StarSpeeder 1000

The ride queue

In every version of the ride, guests then enter a hangar where C-3PO and R2-D2 are busy repairing a StarSpeeder 1000 while a large screen displays commercials (some hosted by droid Aly San San ), messages, flight lists and exterior views of a space station that presumably the waiting passengers are now inside, just like in the original attraction.

Guests pass by security droid G2-9T X-raying luggage, where a monitor displays various items inside the luggage (including many Star Wars and Disney references). Guests also pass by droid customs, where RX-24 is malfunctioning with a sticker labeled "Defective: return to factory."

After passing another droid screening passengers, G2-4T , guests reach the boarding area and watch video screens that display the outside of the StarSpeeder maintenance area where C-3PO speaks with the ships' pilot droid, AC-38 , also known as Ace. C-3PO needs to sit in the pilot's seat to repair the binary motivator. Ace leaves to inspect the outside of the ship and then gets called away from the area. Guests then watch a safety video hosted by Aly San San. Ace does not return before the ship is elevated to the passenger boarding level, leaving C-3PO and R2-D2 on board the flight with passengers. Star Tours Flight 1401 is then cleared for take off despite C-3PO's protests, and R2-D2 takes control of the vessel.

Spaceport escape [ ]

This segment includes one of five scenes. Sequel-trilogy-era variants are non-canon.

  • Darth Vader and a group of stormtroopers arrive to prevent the ship from leaving. A video screen identifies one of the passengers as a Rebel spy . Vader uses the Force to stop the ship until R2-D2 fires the laser cannons , and the StarSpeeder exits the hangar backwards and is a chased by TIE fighters . The ship then evades Star Destroyers and escapes into hyperspace . In one later variant of the scene, Boba Fett is part of Vader's entourage.
  • While the StarSpeeder is docked near the Millennium Falcon and Han Solo , a droid scans the ship and one of the passengers is identified as a Rebel spy, while outside Solo gets into a firefight with stormtroopers. The StarSpeeder then follows the Falcon as it flees the hangar and flies past Star Destroyers (causing severe damage to the bridge of one) before entering hyperspace. An alternate version of this scene added in 2024 has us following the T-6 1974 out of the spaceport instead.
  • Non-canon: In a scene patterned after the earlier Darth Vader scene, Kylo Ren and First Order stormtroopers arrive, and Ren uses the Force to prevent the ship from leaving. After he identifies a spy and "traitor to the First Order ," R2-D2 opens fires, and the ship flees as in the earlier version.

Planet 1 [ ]

The ship exits hyperspace above one of five planets. Sequel-trilogy-era variants are non-canon.

  • The ship reaches the surface of Hoth and follows snowspeeders in an attack run on an AT-AT . The ship hits the ground and slides down an icy mountain before flying back into space.
  • On Kashyyyk , the ship is caught in a speeder bike chase through the forest with some Wookiees . Chewbacca is thrown from his bike and hits the ship's windshield. The speeder then leaves the forest and heads for space.
  • The ship arrives at Tatooine and drops through the atmosphere into the middle of a pod race . After getting stuck to a pod racer and crossing the finish line, the ship heads back into space.
  • Non-canon: The ship arrives on Jakku in the midst of a chase between the Millennium Falcon and a squad of First Order TIE fighters through the wreckage. Finn or Rey appears on the screen asking what Star Tours is doing here and tells them to stay low. Diving into a wrecked Star Destroyer and avoiding debris, the ship stumbles into a group of scavengers, who steal the Star Tours seal. The ship then leaves before more damage can be done and heads for space.
  • Non-canon: The ship drops from hyperspace flying past Endor , which 3PO comments on, and lands in the oceans of the moon of Kef Bir near the ruins of the DS-2 Death Star II Mobile Battle Station . When ocean waves send the StarSpeeder inside these remnants of the Battle of Endor, the ship encounters a pack of Dianoga before R2 gets the ship able to take off and leave the moon.

Hologram message [ ]

Once back in space, the StarSpeeder receives a holographic message from one of ten different characters. Scenes based on the Sequel trilogy and new Canon TV series are considered non-canon here, since the original ride is part of the Legends continuity.

  • Yoda , Admiral Gial Ackbar , Princess Leia , Cassian Andor or Ahsoka Tano , who explains that you must help get the Rebel on board safely to a rendezvous point, and then sends the coordinates to R2-D2.
  • Non-canon : Din Djarin accompanied by Grogu tells us we can no longer stand in the shadows and asks us to join an unspecified battle while Grogu uses the Force to play with a frog before swallowing it.
  • Non-canon: BB-8 asks for help with a secret mission to deliver vital information. 3PO refuses, but R2 accepts and makes a hyperspace jump; Maz Kanata , in the middle of a combat situation, asks the crew to join the Resistance; Poe Dameron , asking for help, is surprised at seeing R2 and 3PO before getting right to business and sending them the coordinates for their next destination; Lando Calrissian asks for help to join a battle against the First Order, while being happy to see R2 and 3PO.

Planet 2 [ ]

After jumping through hyperspace, the ship reaches one of six destinations. The sequel-trilogy-era scenes are non-canon.

  • Incident above Coruscant : The ship ends up in the middle of a battle high above Coruscant , and is attacked by Buzz droids . R2 takes care of one droid, while the others are knocked off in the battle. The ship then flies through the city traffic below before reaching a landing platform, where a number of parked StarSpeeders can be found. An alternate option added later has the Millennium Falcon and Chewbacca appear on the platform instead.
  • Skirmish over Naboo : The StarSpeeder reaches Naboo in the middle of a space battle. The ship then follows a group of N-1 starfighters to the surface, and eventually lands in the ocean near a Gungan city, either dodging or crashing into Jar Jar Binks upon arrival. After traveling through the planet core and encountering dangerous sea creatures, the ship launches back to the surface and crash-lands in a Rebel hangar, where it crashes into an N-1. The N-1's tail ends up inside the craft, smashing into the viewport, as a pit droid angrily shouts at Threepio. Alternatively, the StarSpeeder only breaks the tail of the N-1 off, angering the pit droid working on it, resulting in him throwing paint onto the viewport.
  • Skirmish at Geonosis : In the Geonosis asteroid belt , the StarSpeeder is chased by Boba Fett in Slave I . The ship escapes but then encounters the incomplete, first Death Star while pursued by Vader and his TIE pilots . The ship escapes by flying right through the unfinished Death Star, but are then met again by Boba, who shoots a seismic charge at the ship. The StarSpeeder shoots it back, evading him and then heads into hyperspace to meet up with the Rebel fleet and land in the Home One ' s hangar bay.
  • Non-canon: Battle of Crait : The StarSpeeder arrives on Crait in the middle of the battle between the First Order and the Resistance . After escaping Tie Fighters by going through a cave, the StarSpeeder re-emerges in the midst of a battle with a group of All Terrain MegaCaliber Sixes and after taking down a few, the ship escapes to hyperspace.
  • Non-canon: Battle of Exegol : The StarSpeeder arrives in the skies over Exegol, where the Resistance is engaging the Sith Eternal forces . As we dodge shots and debris in the chaotic battle, a frightened 3PO tells us he was happy to have us as passengers assuming we won't make it. After knocking a broken Sith TIE fighter off the ship's viewport, the StarSpeeder helps take out a Xyston -class Star Destroyer and then jumps back into hyperspace.
  • Non-canon : Incident on Seatos : Arriving in the skies of Seatos , the StarSpeeder finds themselves in the middle of a pod of Purrgil while the T-6 1974 is engaged in battle with two RP82 Fiend fighters , with Ahsoka asking for assistance. Weaving through the tentacles and avoiding being swallowed by one of the Purrgils, the StarSpeeder is able to take out one of the fighters and R2 has the ship spin in triumph to imitate Ahsoka's ship. Before the ship jumps away, Ahsoka wishes us safe travels and remarks that it was good to see R2 again.
  • Non-canon: If visiting sequel trilogy locations and Seatos, one of two additional ending scenes occurs. In one version, the ship escapes to Batuu , where C-3PO muses that their adventure is just beginning . Alternatively, the StarSpeeder returns to Spaceport THX1138 . After dodging several outgoing ships, we land on a lower level, frightening a group of pit droids and catching the ire of AC-38 , who approaches StarSpeeder demanding an explanation before the viewport shield closes.

StarTours2 bg

A scene from the re-vamped Star Tours

After years of rumors and speculation of an updated version of Star Tours , it was confirmed in April 2005, at Celebration III , where creator George Lucas announced that a Star Tours II was in production. [16]

It was claimed at the 2009 D23 Expo, the official Disney fan convention, that there would not be a second ride introduced, but that instead the existing ride would be updated and improved. The original rides closed in 2010 ( July 27 in California and September 8 in Florida) to allow Disney engineers to begin the updates and renovations. This new iteration of Star Tours re-opened on May 20 , 2011 at Disney's Hollywood Studios in Florida, [4] and June 3 , 2011 at Disneyland in California. [5]

The new ride is in 3-D, and features the StarSpeeder 1000 , [17] bursting into the Boonta Eve Classic pod race. In a high-resolution image of the scene provided to various media outlets, the 1000 designation on the speeder could be seen. It was also confirmed that the new ride would take passengers to Coruscant among other destinations, and there were rumors that the Endor flight would be reworked as well so that passengers would actually go to Endor this time. A new queue video "commercial" for the attraction was released in August 2010 at Celebration V which showed the StarSpeeder traveling to Bespin , Endor and Alderaan , though it was not confirmed that these would be destinations within the ride. [18] In April, the final destination list was released, adding Naboo , Geonosis with the Death Star I under construction, Kashyyyk , and Hoth joining the already announced Tatooine and Coruscant. [19]

Due to timeline concerns by the Imagineers, they changed the plan for the Hoth sequence from featuring Imperial walkers to focusing on wampas and tauntauns . However, when the plans for this version of the sequence were presented to George Lucas, he insisted on using the walkers and offered a continuity explanation that the Rebels and the Empire had a skirmish there before, and the reason the Rebels went back to establish Echo Base was that they believed the Empire would never suspect they would return there. [20]

In September, the official Disney Parks Blog revealed two droids from the new attraction: a pilot droid from the AC series named Ace (a predecessor to RX-24 from the original) and a "spokesbot" named Aly San San , voiced by actress Allison Janney . The blog also revealed that the ride's story takes place between Episode III and Episode IV ( 19 BBY and 0 BBY ). [21] The Destination D23 event that announced these new droids also revealed that there would be 54 different experiences of the attraction. [22]

In October, it was revealed that, although Star Tours uses AC Droid pilots, C-3PO would pilot the StarSpeeder 1000 in the attraction, through some chaotic mistake. [23] The article also revealed that RX-24 would return, due to his popularity with thousands of fans.

The score of the ride was composed by Oscar winner Michael Giacchino , who, according to some reports, was a big fan of the original attraction. [24] [25]

In January, it was announced that Star Tours: The Adventures Continue would open on May 20 , 2011 at Disney's Hollywood Studios in Florida. [4] In February, it was announced that the ride would open on June 3 , 2011 at Disneyland in California. [5] That same month, the Disney Parks Blog revealed that ride passengers would encounter Darth Vader , Boba Fett and Imperial jumptroopers . [26] A May 2011 interview with Tom Fitzgerald revealed that Jar Jar Binks would also appear, and that James Earl Jones and Frank Oz would reprise their roles as Vader and Yoda . [1] The interview also revealed that the StarSpeeders would travel underwater and slide on ice. On May 14, almost a week before its official opening, early previews of the ride began at Disney Hollywood Studios in Florida.

Star Tours TAC-Tokyo

Star Tours: The Adventures Continue entrance at Tokyo Disneyland

Similar to the original Star Tours , the ride varied depending on the theme park location. In November 2011, it was announced that a new ride would open at Tokyo Disneyland in Spring of 2013. Tokyo Disneyland featured most of the characters and aspects of the original American version of the rides at Disneyland and Disney's Hollywood Studios. However, it also featured some additional content, such as an in-depth explanation of the spaceport shown in the queue area and rides, including the name of the spaceport in question (Spaceport THX1138). It also showed additional info about the location advertisements, as well as additional characters and droid models. It also featured three language settings: Aurebesh , English , and Japanese. At the end of the ride, three droids— F-25-OJSx , F-24-AMTx , and HHG-RX —were in poses mirroring that of the Hitchhiking Ghosts from the Disney ride Haunted Mansion . [27]

On November 16 , 2015, a new segment set on Jakku debuted as part of Disneyland's "Season of the Force" event in order to promote The Force Awakens [28] , then premiered at Disney's Hollywood Studios on December 1 of that year. [29] Additionally, variants of existing segments created for the original 2011 show were activated for the first time, [15] such as a version of the Vader opening featuring Boba Fett, an altered Naboo segment where the StarSpeeder hits the Gungan while visiting Otoh Gunga and the windshield is splattered with paint at the hangar, and a version of the Coruscant ending where Chewbacca greets guests from the Millennium Falcon cockpit. [28]

On March 18, 2017, the Disneyland Paris version opened. While similar to its counterparts, Paris expanded on the "old droids in shipping containers" idea and relocated ROX-N and the original Goose Droids to additional shipping containers, with new builds of the upgraded GT droids taking over those spots.

On April 15, 2017, it was announced at Star Wars Celebration Orlando that a new segment set on Crait would be added in order to promote The Last Jedi . [30] The segment was activated on November 17 , 2017, and also included Batuu , a planet created for Star Wars : Galaxy's Edge . [31] The update also included a scene of Kylo Ren and the First Order , patterned after the similar Darth Vader scene that opened earlier ride variations. On October 23 , 2019 , it was announced that The Rise of Skywalker content would be added on December 20 . [32]

On March 5, 2024, it was announced that segments based around The Mandalorian , Ahsoka , and Andor would be added to the attraction, with the new segments set to debut on April 5. This will bring the number of sequence combinations up to 250. [33]

Merchandise [ ]

Bree rec

Bree Starlighter , a character used only in promotional material and mall tours prior to the opening of the new ride

As with the original version, upon exiting the ride, passengers are led to a store which sells merchandise based on Star Wars and the ride itself. This includes action figures, clothing, etc. At Disneyland the store is The Star Trader . [34] At Disney's Hollywood Studios, the store is Tatooine Traders , themed to resemble the buildings of Mos Eisley and Mos Espa. [35] Both stores include some exclusive merchandise sold only at Disney theme parks, including action figures of the various droids seen in the ride and queue, and StarSpeeder 1000 toys. [36]

Easter eggs [ ]

In the queue [ ].

The G2 repair droids in the queue line (also found in the original version of the queue) are actually the skeletons of Audio-Animatronic geese from an old Disneyland show, America Sings . They were removed from the show during the last 2 years of its run. The droids can be heard singing variations of "I've been working on the railroad, all the livelong day," a reference to the song sung by the geese. The New Essential Guide to Droids nicknamed the G2s "Goose droids" as a nod to this show. [37]

In the ride queue, after G2-9T somehow starts causing alarms to go off and gets a call from his supervisor, the droid at one point says "Uh, everything's perfectly alright now, w-we're fine. We're all fine here now, thank you. Uh, how are you?," a paraphrase of what Han Solo said when trying to maintain cover after killing most of the security detail for the Detention Block AA-23 in A New Hope . He also says "Boring conversation, anyway" after cutting his supervisor off mid-sentence, which was also from the same film.

One of the items scanned in the luggage by G2-9T was a Goofy doll, prompting him to say that the design was "really goofy." When finding a Goofy hat in another luggage set, G2-9T will mistake it for a Jar Jar Binks styled hat. A Chip and Dale doll set seen in scanned luggage has G2-9T calling them clones . Upon discovering the magic lamp from Aladdin , he mentions that the Star Tours' non-smoking policy extends to luggage as well.

WALL-E , from the Pixar film of the same name, can also be seen in one of the scans, attempting to get G2-9T's attention. G2-9T fails to see this, and clears the suitcase without noticing. Other luggage cameos include Madame Leota from the Haunted Mansion , [37] a Stitch plush, Sorcerer Mickey's hat from Fantasia, Mike Wazowski's teddy bear from Monsters Inc., Indiana Jones's hat and whip, the Mighty Microscope and a snowflake from Adventure Thru Inner Space, and V.I.N.CENT from The Black Hole .

On the ride [ ]

The idea of going to Kashyyyk was suggested by John Lasseter , principal creative adviser at Walt Disney Imagineering, and chief creative officer at Disney and Pixar Animation Studios . [38] During the droid's scan in the stormtrooper opening, two of the images that flash by in the video hologram are photos of Lasseter and George Lucas.

In the scene on Coruscant, a video billboard can be seen advertising " Tomorrowland " in Aurebesh . Disneyland's Star Tours attraction is located in that park's Tomorrowland themed area.

References to the original ride are included when Threepio echoes a line from RX-24, saying, "I've always wanted to do this" (referring to a pod race, instead of the original's Death Star trench run), and again when he yells, "Brakes! Brakes! Where are the brakes?!" while careening through the Naboo hangar. [37] A third quotation was added in 2019 when the StarSpeeder arrives at Kef Bir, where Threepio comments, "R2, we've passed the Endor moon!"

Continuity [ ]

According to " The Incredible Journey ," an article in Star Wars Insider 127 , the events of Star Tours: The Adventures Continue occurred at some point between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope . [39] While the attraction itself did not provide precise data about its chronology, [40] Admiral Ackbar's appearance set it after his rescue from Imperial slavery in 1 BBY , and droid G2-9T's comment about the Yavin 4 Rebel headquarters also places it after that date. [41] The Star Wars Blog article Convenient Daily Departures: The History of Star Tours finally placed the ride's date at about 1 BBY. [2]

The seasonal Season of the Force version of the attraction, which included a scene set on Jakku, characters Finn and BB-8 , and the First Order , is anachronistic with the timeline presented throughout the rest of the attraction. In one scene, riders were confronted by Darth Vader, and encounter Finn in the next, even though Vader would have been long dead by the time of the latter scene. It can be assumed that the events presented in these scenes are non-canon. Further sequel-trilogy additions in 2017 smoothed out some of these issues by creating a new Kylo Ren intro and a reworked version of the stormtrooper intro featuring First Order stormtroopers. The attraction is still randomized, but each flight includes either original content entirely based on Episodes I to VI, or entirely based on Episodes VII to IX. This avoids the most glaring continuity issues.

Disneyland Secrets & Hidden Details

Disneyland is rich in details and history, and thanks to that, there are a lot of little “Easter Eggs,” secrets, quirks, and fun minor experiences to be discovered, most of which go unnoticed by casual guests. They’re obviously not major elements of attractions or substantial things, but they are layers of detail that really enhance the Disney experience for a lot of guests.

There are tons of things in Disneyland that could qualify for this list. Literally thousands. We’re sure there are plenty of things even we don’t know about! Accordingly, this list is not exhaustive. If you’re really into learning more about the secrets of Disneyland, a couple of great books to check out are the Disneyland’s Hidden Mickeys book and great historical books about Disneyland , like Disneyland Inside Story . We’ve tried to put together a fresh list, so we’ve left out common “secrets” like the basketball court in the Matterhorn (sorry, Travel Channel, if you mention this in every special on Disneyland, it ceases to be a secret), Club 33 , the stray cats, and, of course, Disney’s “Best Kept” secret, Disney Vacation Club ! However, if you’re a die-hard Disneyland fan, there’s a decent chance most of these will be familiar to you.

Unlike our list of Walt Disney World Secrets , which covered all four parks, there are so many details of Disneyland (the park) that we think it’s deserving of its own list. We’ll cover Disney California Adventure in a subsequent post (and perhaps even a post dedicated solely to Cars Land). Note that we’ve updated this post since it was originally published to remove and add things that have appeared or disappeared!

Here are some of our favorite “hidden” Disneyland details, secrets, etc…

Popcorn Turners – Each popcorn stand in the park has a different character attached to its popcorn turner. These range from a yeti (near the Matterhorn) to the Rocketeer (Tomorrowland) to even seasonal turners like Oogie Boogie (near Haunted Mansion Holiday) and Santa Claus (Main Street). This tradition continued at Tokyo Disneyland, where my all-time favorite one exists in Frontierland–Big Al!

Tomorrowland Future Dinosaurs? – If you look carefully in the planters between Redd Rockett’s Pizza Port and Space Mountain, you will notice a few large, blue eggs among the plants . There is scant information about these eggs online, but a couple of reputable sources have indicated that they are meant to be dinosaur eggs. Dinosaurs in the future? Now that’s a promising future to us! (Out of all of these secrets, this one is my favorite…if you know anything more about these eggs, please share in the comments!)

Secret Restrooms – Indiana Jones Adventure probably takes the cake for having the most little secrets scattered throughout it. One of our favorites is the “secret” restroom in the queue. Our understanding is that this was built out of necessity, as the Indiana Jones Adventure queue is looooong, and waits regularly exceeded three hours when it first opened. Because of that, guests having “emergencies” was a fairly regular thing for a while. There are also “secret” (or lesser known) restrooms in the Tiki Room waiting area.

LEGO Captain Jack – Standing in the scene above on top of a treasure chest is a LEGO Captain Jack Sparrow. You can only really see it if you’re looking for it, and once you see it, it sticks out like a sore thumb on each subsequent ride-through. Unfortunately, LEGO Captain Jack has gone missing since the last refurbishment, but keep an eye out, as he may return.

New Orleans Square Mast – From Tom Sawyer Island, a ship’s mast is visible above the roofs in New Orleans Square. This mast is not visible when in New Orleans Square itself, and to my knowledge, it’s only visible from certain elevated spots on Tom Sawyer Island. Pretty nice touch, especially given that very few people will ever notice it!

Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh – Winnie the Pooh displaced the Country Bear Jamboree, and actual audio animatronics for Max, Buff, and Melvin are actually inside the attraction and visible if you look behind you at the right as you enter the “honey” room during the ride! There are other tributes to the Country Bears throughout Critter Country (formerly Bear Country), including at Hungry Bear Restaurant and above the shops.

Disneyland Spring 2012_036

Plaza Pavilion Mural – During its early years of operation, Disneyland had sponsors for many (most?) of its attractions and restaurants. The Plaza Pavilion, now the home of the Jolly Holiday Bakery, was sponsored by Stouffer’s, and featured a large, whimsical mural about food preparation. That mural was tragically lost forever, but when Jolly Holiday Bakery opened, a tribute to that mural featuring Mary Poppins was added . Most guests probably don’t realize why that quirky “Poppins Tree” painting is in Jolly Holiday Bakery and pass it up without a second thought, but for those who do know the story , it’s a smile-inducing sight.

Splash Mountain Critters – Splash Mountain features different characters at Disneyland than at Walt Disney World because Disneyland’s wasn’t built entirely from scratch. Many of the Audio-Animatronics figures in the Disneyland version were sourced from America Sings, which was a stage show that used to play in the Innoventions building. Take a look at this article to see exactly how the Splash Mountain AAs were featured in America Sings .

Miss Tilly – Tilly is a mannequin who works at the Main Street Cinema. Her Cast Member name tag lists here as being from Marceline, Missouri, which is where Walt Disney lived as a child. There are references to Marceline throughout the parks, but this is our favorite because it’s understated. Not sure if there’s any significance of the name “Tilly,” but it seems like more than a coincidence that it’s the name of both this Cast Member and the shrimp boat impaled on Mount Mayday at Typhoon Lagoon. For more info about Tilly, check out this post on Yesterland .

Hidden Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters Target – In the second room of the ride where Zurg stands and turns (revealing and concealing targets with his cape), there is a small “Z” on his chest that does not look like the other targets. But it is a target, and it’s worth 50,000 points. This target can be very difficult to hit (even if it looks like you squarely got it), and it only registers about half the time, but the payoff is great.

Fantasyland Weather Vanes – Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride has a Mr. Toad weather vane, and Peter Pan’s Flight has a Tic-Toc-Croc weather vane. As you’ll learn from another of these secrets, it pays to look up in Fantasyland!

Walt Disney World 068

Captain Rex – Just inside the second queue room are a few droids sitting in and around packing crates. One of these is Rex, pilot of the original Star Tours. Rex is marked as defective and can be heard faintly playing audio from the original attraction in a broken manner. Author Kevin Yee has a good rundown of them here . Our favorite Star Tours “Easter Egg” has got to be the “Hitchhiking Droids” (like the Hitchhiking Ghosts from Haunted Mansion), but unfortunately, that’s only at Tokyo Disneyland .

Eeyore Parking – This borders on being too well known, but we think it’s pretty cool. Behind the projector in the Indiana Jones Adventure queue is a sign with a picture of Eeyore on it. The best way to see this sign is to get to the end of the projection room of the pre-show and turn around to look for it. If you still can’t see it, ask a Cast Member. They often carry flashlights and can point it out for you.

Mine Train Thru Nature’s Wonderland Remnants – Mine Train Thru Nature’s Wonderland was, essentially, the predecessor to Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, except it was a leisurely train ride focused on sight-seeing and it encompassed a much larger footprint. When it closed, many aspects of the ride were left in place , probably in part due to cost of removal and in part because they added to the look of Frontierland without being obvious elements of a closed attraction. Nowadays, these remnants are fun reminders of the past for Disney geeks like us. I’ve become obsessed with this ride over the years, and given my fondness of other leisurely rides like the Peoplemover, I wish it were still around.

Evil Queen – Above Snow White’s Scary Adventures, there’s a small window (see the photo above) that opens now and then to reveal the Evil Queen peering over guests. Most people miss this small detail because it’s brief, discreet, and above their sight lines.

Morse Code Telegraph Office – I don’t know Morse Code, but I’ve heard from numerous sources that the telegraph office at the New Orleans Square Train Station “plays” Walt Disney’s opening day dedication of Disneyland in Morse Code. It’s either true or this is a carefully promulgated urban legend. Here’s a fun and interesting story about the Morse Code …its level of details suggests that this is true, or the author of that article has an incredible imagination!

Snow White’s Wishing Well – Another Snow White detail is to the right of Sleeping Beauty Castle in Snow White Grotto. If you listen into the Wishing Well here, you will hear an ‘echo’ of Snow White singing.

20111118_318

Jingles – The “lead” horse of the King Arthur Carrousel was dedicated to Julie Andrews in honor of her service to the Walt Disney Company, including during the 50th Anniversary of Disneyland. Ornate decorations and tributes to Andrews were added to Jingles, and these remain today. Jingles is easy to spot as the horse covered with bells (and the most ornamentation).

Party Line Phones – The Market House on Main Street has a couple of 1800s-era party line phones. Pick up these phones to listen into some mundane, yet humorous conversations. With the recent opening of Starbucks, there was some concern that these phones would disappear, but they are still present!

Edible Plants in Tomorrowland – This is another one I can’t verify the truth of, as I haven’t tried to consume them all, but each of the plants in Tomorrowland is supposed to be edible. The idea behind this stems from Tomorrowland’s original role as offering a glimpse into a better tomorrow for America, from transportation to homes to even horticulture. Over the years its vision has morphed to a science fiction land and the plants don’t make quite as much sense, but they’re still a cool detail.

Mailboxes – There are working mailboxes throughout Disneyland. Not a huge secret, but many guests don’t realize that these boxes aren’t just for show. Disneyland used to have its own special Sleeping Beauty Castle stamp for the mail, but now it is stamped with the regular Anaheim, California stamp.

Mike Fink’s Keel Boat – Another remnant of an extinct attraction, this little keel boat along the Rivers of America looks like it’s just one of the many little details added to give interest to the River’s edge for its attractions, but it also serves as a tribute to this attraction of the past.

Swisskapolka – Tarzan’s Treehouse replaced the old Swiss Family Treehouse (which still exists at Walt Disney World), but as a tribute to the former attraction, a phonograph in the treehouse quietly plays the Swisskapolka, which is the catchy theme song from the original treehouse.

Fortune Tellers – The very existence of these fortune tellers throughout Disneyland would almost be enough to make the list, but the bonus “secret within a secret” of Esmeralda (in the Penny Arcade on Main Street) playing cards that are themed to the Haunted Mansion puts her over the top. Other fortune tellers can be found in various “hidden” spots around the park!

disneyland-christmas-2013-159

That’s the list of our favorite Disneyland “hidden” secrets, Easter Eggs, and other details that we most enjoy! As you can see, a lot of our favorite things are tributes to Disneyland’s past; it’s interesting how Disneyland toes the line between staying current (“not being a museum”) and embracing its storied past. We’ve learned about a lot of these from simply experiencing the parks at our leisure, but also from various D23 events, visiting the parks with passionate Annual Passholders, and from the sites and books devoted to the topics . Big thanks to all of the great resources from which we’ve learned about these secrets over the years!

For any surveyors, Disneyland also has custom “Mickey Mouse” survey marks hidden in the streets. These are actually functional for taking survey coordinates, but each decorated as differently themed Disney plaques.

They used to have princess shows there, but it was first built in the 80’s as a dance club called videopolis. We used to go every weekend when we were teens.

Amazing Flash Animation Recreates Original Star Tours Ride

  • by John Frost

star tours easter eggs

Miss the original Star Tours? No worries Kit Molaison has recreated it in flash animation glory for everyone to enjoy. The queue area includes pictures of the original attraction along with links to some of the source material. Then you board the Starspeeder 3000 and there’s an animated version of the original attraction, including a lot of the original attraction’s easter eggs. It appears to use original audio tracks, but everything else is an animated simulation.

Disney fans never fail to impress me with their skill and creativity. Check it out , you’ll be impressed too.

Easter Eggs of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge – An Exhaustive Guide to Hidden References, In-Jokes, and Hidden Mickeys

star tours easter eggs

Now that Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge  has been open to guests (who have pre-booked reservations) for a full week at Disneyland, we’ve had some time to explore the amazingly detailed new land and drink in many of the intricate design elements, taking note of any hidden (and sometimes not-so-hidden) references or in-jokes we spotted along the way.

With that in mind, it’s time to begin putting together an ever-growing list of these clever allusions to both Star Wars and Disney theme park history, a task that may never be fully complete, considering Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is essentially constructed from the ground up with wall-to-wall Easter Eggs. My plan is to regularly update this list from my own observations and via information we receive from the community.

star tours easter eggs

RESISTANCE BASE

  • GNK power droids  – Two of these droids, which first appeared in the original Star Wars  film ( Episode IV: A New Hope ), are tending to an antenna just outside the entrance to Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. Their footprints can also be seen along the paths in Galaxy’s Edge.
  • A-Wing Starfighter  – The A-Wing first appeared as used by the Rebel Alliance in Return of the Jedi , but the version parked here is the updated RZ-2 A-Wing interceptor used by the Resistance in their battle against the First Order.
  • X-Wing Starfighter  – Again, the X-Wing was first used by the Rebellion in A New Hope , but the full-size model in the land is the later T-70 model used in the sequel trilogy.
  • Tactical screen  – At the entrance to Rise of the Resistance stands one of these transparent strategic boards we’ve seen both the Rebellion and Resistance use in the movies.
  • Turret  – The anti-aircraft turret that marks the entrance to Rise of the Resistance resembles ones used by the Rebel Alliance on Hoth in The Empire Strikes Back .
  • Macrobinoculars  – This device, first used by Luke Skywalker in A New Hope , is on display above the Resistance Supply gift shop.
  • R2-D2 footprints  – Walt Disney Imagineering used an original 1976 Star Wars  production R2 model’s feet to created the “roll marks” on the ground.
  • Gungan footprints  – A member of the species native to Naboo (first appeared in Episode I: The Phantom Menace ) has been walking around near the Resistance base.
  • Creature noises  – If you stand in this wilderness area long enough, you will hear the sounds of Star Wars critters both large and small moving through the brush.
  • Chewbacca  – The most famous Wookiee from many Star Wars  films regularly appears in this area, trying to fix the X-Wing and posing for photos with guests.
  • Rey  – This Jedi-in-training and hero of the Resistance (first appeared in The Force Awakens ) wanders her way through the base area and into Black Spire Outpost.
  • Vi Moradi  – Known by the codename Starling, this Resistance spy was enlisted by General Leia Organa to seek out a new base on Batuu. She first appeared in the Phasma  novel and will be the protagonist in Galaxy’s Edge: Black Spire , coming this August from the same author.

THE MARKETPLACE

  • Monolith  – ?????
  • Dianoga  – This creature, first spotted in the Death Star trash compactor in A New Hope , pops up in the water filtration tanks above the Marketplace’s water fountains.
  • Wood carvings  – In one corner of the Marketplace, a craftsperson has created representations of a Porg, an Ithorian, a Loth-cat, the Jedi Order insignia, a Wookiee, and a Pelikki. Whoever made these sculptures also appears to have used an astromech droid without a dome as a kiln for metalwork.

TOYDARIAN TOYMAKER

  • Kids’ speeders  – Sort of like Power Wheels for Star Wars, there’s a few child-size Landspeeders and Speeder Bikes on display outside the shop. One of them is the same model of M-68 Landspeeder Han steals at the beginning of Solo: A Star Wars Story .
  • Sign  – Toydarian is the name of the species of the character Watto from The Phantom Menace . The one depicted on the sign outside is the shop’s owner, Zabaka. You can see Zabaka working in silhouette through the window at the back left hand side of the store.
  • Obi Wan vs. Darth Vader puppets  – Two marionettes represent the duel aboard the Death Star between the former master and apprentice in A New Hope .
  • Rocking Fathier  – A rideable children’s version of the lovable animal from Canto Bight in The Last Jedi .
  • Asteroid scene  – One of the most exciting action sequences from The Empire Strikes Back  (featuring the Millennium Falcon, TIE Fighters, an Imperial Star Destroyer, and lots of space rocks) is depicted in hand-made metal mobile form hanging from the shop’s ceiling.
  • Jabba’s Sail Barge  – A toy version of the Hutt’s favorite form of transportation from Return of the Jedi rests on a shelf above the merchandise, accompanied by a Jawa Sandcrawler from A New Hope , numerous characters from Tatooine, and even Naboo Starfighters from The Phantom Menace .
  • Wooden Stormtrooper Doll  – Owned by a young Jyn Erso in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story .
  • Plushes  – Stuffed toys of First Order Stormtroopers, Lando Calrissian, Ahsoka Tano, Wicket W. Warrick, Watto, Chewbacca, Porgs, Kylo Ren, Rey, Yoda, Finn, Princess Leia, Darth Vader, Jabba the Hutt, and (most obscurely) a Tooka doll from The Clone Wars  are all available in the shop.
  • Wooden figures  – Boba Fett, Admiral Ackbar, Stormtroopers, Darth Vader, and C-3PO.
  • Instruments  – Toy versions of the Ewok drums from Return of the Jedi  and the exotic musical instruments used by Figrin D’an and the Modal Nodes (AKA the Cantina Band) from A New Hope  are up for purchase, plus noise makers shaped to look like the frog-dog from Jabba’s Palace and a Convor from The Clone Wars .
  • Dejarik  – The game first seen played in holographic form aboard the Millennium Falcon in A New Hope  (and later/earlier in physical form in Rogue One ) is available as a very nice board made to look as though it was carved from a tree trunk.
  • Sabacc  – While this card game was part of the Star Wars Expanded Universe for a long time, it wasn’t seen played on the big screen until Solo .
  • Chance cubes  – Watto used one of these in his bet with Qui-Gon Jinn in The Phantom Menace .
  • Zabaka  – The female Toydarian who runs the shop can be seen (and heard) in silhouette on the rear left-side window. Her bed is also visible in the corner of the store.

THE CREATURE STALL

  • Loth-cat  – First appearing in the Star Wars Rebels  animated series, there is a “sleeping” Lothcat animatronic in a cage at the center of the shop. Plus, this cute critter has an adorable Porg chew-toy.
  • Dokma  – In an aquarium lives this snail-like creature native to the planet Atollon in Rebels .
  • Puffer Pig  – Another creature that first appeared in Rebels  is for sale in the shop.
  • Dewback  – This large lizard-like beast of burden from A New Hope  is available in miniature form.
  • Rathtar  – Han Solo was transporting these dangerous “meatballs with tentacles” in The Force Awakens .
  • Bantha  – The chosen mode of transport for Tusken Raiders on Tatooine in A New Hope .
  • Porg  – Native to the Island Planet Ahch-To, first appeared in The Last Jedi .
  • Tauntaun  – Two-legged beast of burden used by the Rebel Alliance on Hoth in The Empire Strikes Back .
  • Worrt  – This frog-like creature was first spotted outside Jabba’s Palace in Return of the Jedi .
  • Krykna  – A spider-like native of the planet Atollon in Rebels .
  • Wampa  – This fearsome beast attacked Luke and his Tauntaun on Hoth in The Empire Strikes Back .
  • Kowakian Monkey-Lizard  – Jabba the Hutt kept one of these as a pet and court jester named Salacious B. Crumb in Return of the Jedi .
  • Neebray  – A flying creature that first appeared in the Star Wars: The Clone Wars  theatrical film.
  • Mynock  – These guys are always chewing on power cables. First appeared in The Empire Strikes Back .
  • Fireflies  – Spotted in several episodes of The Clone Wars  and Rebels , these insects are visible in a container along the ceiling of the shop.
  • Eyeballs in cage  – If you look up while shopping in the Creature stall, you’ll see that the ceiling is lined with dozens of cages. One of them has eyeballs that will blink, stare you down, and move around.
  • Leaf in cage  – Another cage has a leaf sticking out of it that will move around as though the creature inside is eating it.

BLACK SPIRE OUTFITTERS

  • Jedi robes  – Outfits worn by Force-wielding characters from throughout the saga like Rey, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Anakin Skywalker are available for purchase here.

KAT SAKA’S KETTLE

  • Mouse droid  – Also known as the MSE-6 series repair droid, this lively little guy first appeared on the Death Star in A New Hope  and is available in popcorn bucket form.
  • Dex’s Diner  – An item on this food stall’s menu claims it was made famous by this eatery first featured in Attack of the Clones .

THE JEWELS OF BITH

  • Black Spire Outpost merchandise  – This is the only place to shop if you’re looking for souvenirs with the name of the city or Batuu on them, but you won’t find anything that says “Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.” That you’ll have to find off-planet.
  • Sign  – The sign outside this shop is in the shape of a Bith head, the same species that made up the Cantina Band in A New Hope .

RONTO ROASTERS

  • Podracer engine  – Straight out of Mos Espa’s Boonta Eve Classic in The Phantom Menace , this giant machine is grilling the meat for the Ronto Roasters food stand.
  • 8D-J8  – This animatronic character, from the same series of smelter droid as 8D8 in Jabba’s Palace in Return of the Jedi , operates the engine. You can see beads of oil “sweat” dripping from his forehead.
  • Ronto  – This tall beast of burden first appeared in Mos Eisley Spaceport in the Star Wars Special Edition .
  • Nuna  – Flightless birds from Naboo in The Phantom Menace .
  • Tatooine Sunset  – A reference to one of the most famous shots from A New Hope .
  • Meiloorun  – A fruit that first appeared in an Expanded Universe (Legends) novel called X-Wing: Wedge’s Gamble , and later showed up in the current canon via Rebels . Available in juice form.
  • Sarlacc  – The creature who lived in Tatooine’s Pit of Carkoon in Return of the Jedi . Namesake of another beverage sold at Ronto Roasters.
  • Gorg  – The species of amphibian Jar Jar tried to eat in Mos Espa in The Phantom Menace  can be spotted hanging in an alcove.

DOCKING BAY 7 FOOD AND CARGO

  • 77, 80, 83  – These numbers appear on the food delivery shuttle on the restaurant’s roof, and correspond to the release dates of the original Star Wars  trilogy.
  • S-Foil  – One of the wings from an X-Wing Starfighter is used as a dining table in this restaurant.
  • Bright Suns, Rising Moons  – Daytime and nighttime greetings on Batuu and the names of breakfast items at Docking Bay 7.
  • Mustafar  – The lava planet where Anakin and Obi-Wan dueled at the climax of Revenge of the Sith , and the name of a “lava roll” available for breakfast.
  • Moof  – A creature first mentioned in The Force Awakens , whose juice is available for purchase.
  • Phattro  – A drink that first appeared in alcoholic form in The Clone Wars .
  • Felucia  – A lush planet that first appeared in Revenge of the Sith  and is the source of the Garden Spread here.
  • Kaadu  – Creatures native to Naboo in The Phantom Menace . You can enjoy their ribs.
  • Tip-Yip  – A chicken-like fowl from Endor in Return of the Jedi  that provides a lot of meat for Docking Bay 7.
  • Yobshrimp  – A shellfish also native to Naboo.
  • Takodana  – The planet where Maz Kanata’s castle is located in The Force Awakens . “A Taste of Takodana” is a dish available off the kids’ menu at this counter-service restaurant.
  • Oi-oi  – A small red berry that appeared in Maz’s castle and is part of a dessert here.
  • Shaak  – Another species from Naboo. Their roast is served at Docking Bay 7.
  • Ithor  – Homeworld of the Ithorian species and source of the menu’s Garden Loaf.

BLACK SPIRE OUTPOST STREETS

  • Hidden Mickeys  – There are at least two of these Disney Parks mainstays in the area surrounding Docking Bay 7, represented by three blaster holes in a familiar configuration.
  • Moisture vaporators  – A device used on moisture farms like the one owned by Owen and Beru Lars in A New Hope  and the Star Wars  prequels. There are a couple operating near the central entrance to the outpost.
  • Petrified trees  – Surrounding you are the spires that make the landscape of Batuu. Giant ancient trees long petrified and crumbled form the foundation of this civilization.
  • Landspeeder  – A model very similar to the X-34 Luke drove on Tatooine in A New Hope  is parked outside Salju’s Black Spire Station garage.
  • Star Tours  – On two large red tanks near Ronto Roasters, the number “87” is printed in Aurebesh, 1987 being the year Lucasfilm first teamed with Disney Parks to present Star Tours.
  • Jango Fett’s jetpack  – The bounty hunter’s gear from Attack of the Clones  is hidden with some Rebel helmets in a cage on the street.
  • Hoth/Endor helmets and backpacks  – Gear used by the Rebel Alliance and Imperial forces in two battles from The Empire Strikes Back  and Return of the Jedi  are in one of the cages.
  • Endor bunker bombs  – The explosive devices used by Han and the Rebel strike team to blow up the Imperial shield generator in Return of the Jedi  are inside one of the cages.
  • 3263827  – This number appears on each trash can in and around Black Spire Outpost, and is a reference to the serial code on the Death Star trash compactor where Luke, Han, Leia, and Chewie almost get smushed in A New Hope .

  • Blue Snaggletooth  – The ashes of an alien named Zutton (visible in the Cantina in A New Hope ) lie in an urn behind the shop’s central counter. The blue color of the urn is an in-joke referencing an error in Kenner’s original Star Wars  action figure toy line.
  • Gamorrean Guard axe  – The weapon used by the pig-like guards at Jabba’s Palace in Return of the Jedi .
  • Taxidermied heads  – The head of a Tauntaun  from The Empire Strikes Back  is mounted on the wall alongside a Nexu  (from Attack of the Clones ), a Kod’yok  and Corellian Hound  (both from Solo ), and what looks like an Anooba  (from The Clone Wars ).

  • THX 1138  – In one of Galaxy’s Edge’s most clever Easter Eggs, the droid parts on the upper conveyor belt are spaced out in batches of 1, 1, 3, and 8, repeating the pattern over and over again. OGA’S CANTINA

  • DJ R3X  – One of the best and most fleshed-out Easter Eggs in Galaxy’s Edge is DJ R3X (formerly known as RX-24), who used to work as a Starspeeder pilot not too far away from where Batuu sits right now. Sitting in Oga’s Cantina and listening to R3X spin his tunes and make wisecracks between songs may provide more Star Wars and Star Tours references and in-jokes than we could possibly have room for here.
  • Worrt  – In cages above the bar are more of the frog we saw back in the Creature Stall, but this time his eggs are flowing down tubes to be used as boba in one of the drinks. Gross…?
  • Spiran Caf  – This drink first in Rebels  and is available during breakfast hours at Oga’s Cantina.
  • Moogan  – A sentient species from The Clone Wars  whose tea is served here.

  • Hyperdrive  – The method by which ships in Star Wars go to light speed. Namesake of a punch. Get it?
  • Jabba  – The Hutt gangster from Return of the Jedi  gets an alcohol-free juice named after him in Oga’s.
  • Blurrg  – Another lizard-like beast of burden. This one is from The Clone Wars  and has a drink named after it.
  • Carbon Freeze  – Kind of insensitive to name a drink after the freezing process that put Han Solo into hibernation in The Empire Strikes Back , isn’t it?
  • Dagobah  – The planet where Yoda went into hiding after the rise of Emperor Palpatine. First seen in The Empire Strikes Back . Has a drink named after it.
  • Jedi Mind Trick  – It won’t work on Hutts or Toydarians, but the drink named after it will probably work on you.
  • Bespin  – Planetary home of Cloud City, where Lando Calrissian is Administrator in The Empire Strikes Back . Has a fizzy drink named after it.

  • The Outer Rim  – A sparsely populated region of the galaxy, where Batuu happens to lie. Has a drink named after it.
  • Yub Nub  – Title of the song that the Ewoks originally sang at the end of Return of the Jedi , though it was replaced by a more sweeping ditty in the movie’s Special Edition. Fortunately there’s now a drink named after it.
  • Gold Squadron  – Call sign for the Rebel Alliance Y-Wing group at the Battle of Yavin in A New Hope . Has a beer named after it.
  • Bad Motivator  – A line of dialogue spoken by Luke about the poor broken droid R5-D4 in A New Hope , which, unsurprisingly at this point, has a beer named after it.
  • Spice Runner  – Han Solo’s sometimes occupation before he joins the Rebel Alliance. Has a hard cider named after it.
  • More drinks named after things  – There are plenty more Star Wars-inspired beverages to imbibe at Oga’s, but if the reference was something I already covered in one of the areas above, I skipped it.
  • Tap handles  – Follow along the back of the bar to catch some cool references tied in with the above listed drinks. There are handles made from a lightsaber hilt, a starfighter joystick, Yoda’s Gimer Stick, a bone from the Rancor Pit, and more.

MILLENNIUM FALCON: SMUGGLERS RUN

  • Hondo Ohnaka  – This Weequay pirate voiced by Jim Cummings of Winnie the Pooh  fame first appeared in The Clone Wars  animated series, but has since popped up in many other in-canon media, most notably Star Wars Rebels . Hondo enlists you on your quest to fly the Millennium Falcon.
  • R5-P8  – This Astromech member of Hondo’s pirate gang also shows up in the Smugglers Run queue.
  • Sabacc game  – It seems some of Hondo’s technicians have been playing cards in the queue area.
  • Scout Trooper helmet –  This Imperial Biker Scout’s gear is being used as an oil pan in the ride’s queue.
  • Astromech garbage can  – A poor disassembled droid has been used to store leftover parts in the queue.
  • Laser canon  – A large AG-2G quad laser canon (similar to the ones mounted on the top and bottom of the Millennium Falcon) can be spotted resting in the queue area.
  • “I have a bad feeling about this.” / “Boring conversation anyway.”  – Hondo probably-unknowingly quotes two famous lines familiar to any Star Wars  fan during his pre-show speech to prospective crew members.
  • Luke’s training helmet  – With the blast shield down, he can’t see. Used during the flight to Alderaan in A New Hope . Stored above the Dejarik table in the Falcon’s hold before you enter the ride.
  • Porg nests  – Those pesky birds have made the Millennium Falcon their home since The Last Jedi , and have apparently spread out into the Smugglers Run queue as well.
  • Han and Leia’s hallway kiss spot  – Now you can the famous “I’ve isolated the reverse power flux coupling!” scene from The Empire Strikes Back .
  • Ladder to the Falcon’s blaster cannons  – Look behind you as you approach the cockpit.
  • Hidden Mickey  – Yup, there’s another one made out of bolts on a monitor in one of the Falcon’s hallways.
  • Rathtar frozen in Carbonite  – spot the once-fearsome creature from The Force Awakens  now rendered inert along one of the walls at the attraction’s underground exit.
  • Corellia  – During your mission flying the Falcon, you travel to Han Solo’s home planet, which was first mentioned in A New Hope .
  • Coaxium  – The Star Wars hyperfuel that first appeared on-screen in Solo  is the target of your quest.
  • Starspeeder 1000  – The ship most famously used by the Star Tours travel agency can be spotted leaving Black Spire Outpost upon your return to Batuu near the end of the ride.

star tours easter eggs

As noted at the top, this list will be continually updated as we discover more references and Easter Eggs throughout Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Thanks to the contributors of a few items so far: @jimbishopjr , @Figment_Jedi  and @mewhunter67 .

10 Weirdest Star Wars Easter Eggs

There are some truly weird easter eggs in the Star Wars galaxy far, far away.

  • The Star Wars franchise contains many Easter eggs, some of which nearly got Lucasfilm in trouble and others that were inside jokes by the production team.
  • Characters in the Star Wars universe have names inspired by different sources, such as Ima-Gun Di's name being a play on "I'm gonna die" and Sha'a Gi being a reference to Shaggy from Scooby-Doo.
  • There are various Easter eggs in the Star Wars movies, like the appearance of the Mickey Mouse silhouette in The Empire Strikes Back and the resemblance of the Jedi Archives to Trinity College's Long Room.

A popular franchise today, Star Wars has taken inspiration from many different things. Historical events like the Vietnam War inspired the Rebellion's fight against the Empire in the original trilogy. Akira Kurosawa’s films were massive influences on the saga’s key plot points, with Samurai warriors inspiring the Jedi and Sith.

It follows, then, that the Star Wars franchise is bound to contain many Easter eggs . Some are more prominent, whereas others will only be recognized by true fans. If viewers look closely enough, some of the most random things can be found in the movies, and are truly weird. Certain Easter Eggs nearly landed Lucasfilm in trouble, and others were the result of jokes by the production team.

10 Ima-Gun Di's Unfortunate Jedi Name

Star wars: the clone wars s3e3 "supply lines".

An episode in Star Wars: The Clone Wars’ third series sees a Jedi master fighting a bitter, ultimately futile, battle against the oncoming Separatist droids. He was sent to the planet Ryloth to aid the suffering Twi'lek population. This noble Jedi fights to the very end, but ultimately the Separatist forces are too powerful. However, his sacrifice saw the shipment of humanitarian aid reaching the Twi'lek people.

This Jedi’s name, Ima-Gun Di, is a silly play on the phrase “ I’m gonna die ”, which obviously serves to foreshadow his death at the episode’s ending. Though, canonically speaking, he's had that name his whole life.

9 Sha'a Gi The Padawan

Star wars: clone wars chapter 20.

This animated Clone Wars series is done in a 2D art style and features some incredible lightsaber duels. This series also introduced the ferocious General Grievous on the planet Hypori. Many Jedi fight him, including Ki-Adi Mundi and Shaak Ti. However, there’s also a young, cowardly Padawan with a slightly scruffy appearance in the group.

RELATED: Underrated Characters From The Star Wars Prequels

This Padawan goes by the name of Sha’a Gi. This is a direct reference to the character Shaggy Rogers from the Scooby-Doo franchise. Sha'a Gi shares a similar appearance and temperament to his namesake. Genndy Tartakovsky, the series’ director, has confirmed Shaggy was the inspiration for the Padawan. Either that or Shaggy somehow found himself in the Star Wars galaxy in search of some Scooby Snacks.

8 The Separatists' Kitchen Sink

Star wars episode 3: revenge of the sith (2005).

When Anakin and Obi-Wan partake in the Battle of Coruscant, they aren’t expecting to nearly get hit by a kitchen amenity. As the two Jedi fly through the intense battle, a nearby Separatist ship explodes, unleashing a torrent of debris. One piece that hits the Republic Venator is actually a kitchen sink.

This very random Easter Egg is a nod to the visual effects team, Industrial Light and Magic. ILM stated that during the production of this epic space sequence, they threw 'everything but the kitchen sink' into it. Their colossal effort into what was, at the time, the last ever Star Wars movie made this scene one of the most spectacular space battles in the franchise.

7 Abednedo, The Song-inspired Species

Disney's sequel trilogy (2015-2019).

Many new and interesting characters debuted in these movies. One such species is the Abednedo, which just happens to follow a rather amusing trend, in that their character names are derived from song titles. The very first Abednedo on screen is “Ilco Munica”, who’s unfortunately killed by the First Order in Tuanul Village. Fans of the Beastie Boys will realize his name is derived from their album “Ill Communication”. As director J.J. Abrams was a fan of this hip-hop group, the trend continues.

Various Abednedo appear in the trilogy; one example has the name “Ello Asty”, secretly a reference to the album “Hello Nasty”. In The Last Jedi , another Abednedo, seen on the planet Cantonica, goes by the name “Slowen-Lo” which refers to the song “Slow and Low”. This Easter Egg will surely please any fans of this musical group.

6 Trinity College's Long Room As The Jedi Archives

Star wars episode 2: attack of the clones (2002).

Obi-Wan enters the grand Jedi Archives in search of any information he can get on Kamino . After only a brief glance, it’s obvious how much resemblance the Archives bear to a real-life location, this being the famous Long Room in Ireland’s Trinity College. Even the busts of the “Lost Twenty”, a group of Jedi that includes Count Dooku, line the archives. Similarly, busts of famous alumni line the college’s library. It’s weird how the two locations share a striking resemblance which was seemingly unintentional.

Indeed, George Lucas was nearly sued by the college since he’d never obtained permission to use the famous building as a reference for the movie. Lucasfilm claimed to have taken inspiration from a range of other famous libraries from around the world. However, it has become something of an Easter Egg due to the similarities the two locations share, whether intended or not.

5 The Certain Extra-Terrestrial Senator

Star wars episode 1: the phantom menace (1999).

A popular Easter Egg is the appearance of a certain Extra-Terrestrial in the Senate. After Queen Amidala calls for a Vote of No Confidence in then-Chancellor Valorum, a group of characters can be seen who look the same as E.T. from the 1982 movie E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial. This is a homage to George Lucas’ friend and fellow director, Steven Spielberg, who made this movie. What’s more, the Senator among them is called “Greblieps”, which is “Spielberg” backward.

RELATED: Unluckiest Minor Star Wars Characters, Ranked

Spielberg’s movie included Star Wars references, such as Elliott’s action figure collection and the child wearing a Yoda costume, the latter of which makes E.T. exclaim: “Home!” This suggested that E.T. was trying to ‘phone’ the Star Wars galaxy as that’s his home. Lucas returned the favor by including Spielberg's character in Star Wars . This seemingly confirms the theory that E.T.’s species is actually from the ‘galaxy far, far away’.

4 The Galaxy's Most Famous Mouse

Star wars episode 5: the empire strikes back (1980).

This is one of the most seemingly weird, yet glaringly obvious once it’s seen, Easter Eggs in the original trilogy. It’s made even stranger as at the time, in 1980, Disney did not own Star Wars . Believe it or not, in the battle on Cloud City between Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader, the iconic Mickey Mouse silhouette is clearly visible. Surprising though it may be at first, there is a reason for this.

George Lucas was a big fan of Disney and was actually working with them in the 1980s. Star Wars was first included in Disney parks in the form of "Star Tours". Star Tours opened in 1987 as a way of celebrating 10 years of the franchise. Despite this, Mickey’s appearance makes for a fun and weird Easter Egg as, technically, he’s in Star Wars canon, decades before actually owning the billion-dollar franchise.

3 The Bounty Hunter Pursuit

This movie features a thrilling high-speed chase sequence between Anakin, Obi-Wan, and bounty hunter Zam Wesell. During the chase, it's possible to see three TIE fighters pursuing an X-Wing at the very bottom left of the screen. It’s over quickly, but this little insert is a pure Easter Egg as no canon explanation exists.

When the two Jedi enter the Outlander Club after Zam, there are three screens broadcasting various sporting events. One is of a Podrace, acting like a homage to Anakin, and his childhood experiences racing in such events. What's on the screen, though, is actual footage of Star Wars: Episode 1 Racer on the Nintendo 64. So is the screen showing a real Podrace, or has someone got an N64 on Coruscant?

2 Famous Real-Life Inspired Artwork

Star wars episode 2: attack of the clones, star wars: the clone wars.

It seems some characters have hired artists from this galaxy! This is evident on the planet Mandalore in The Clone Wars . Duchess Satine Kryze has a portrait of herself in the style of Picasso’s artwork, “Seated Woman”. There are also other murals done in the style of Picasso’s iconic piece “Guernica”. One belongs to secret Death Watch leader Pre Vizsla, whereas the other two can be seen around Sundari, Mandalore’s capital. They depict battles between Jedi and Mandalorians, as historically the two were enemies.

Another famous art piece is seen in Padme's apartment in Attack of the Clones . This is “Bird in Space” by Constantin Brancusi, a highly influential Romanian sculptor. Interestingly, Padmé reveals she once had a friend named Palo, who became an artist . This sounds similar to Picasso's first name, Pablo.

1 The Galaxy's Tallest Building

Star wars episode 3: revenge of the sith, star wars: the clone wars.

Connection or Coincidence? There is a building in Coruscant’s skyline that looks like the spitting image of the tallest building in our world: the Burj Khalifa. What’s even stranger is that the movie was released in 2005, and the Burj Khalifa wasn’t completed until 2010. However, construction began on the tower in 2004, a year before the film's release. This seems an exciting phenomenon, possibly suggesting that Star Wars inspired the tower’s design.

The owners of the Burj Khalifa, Emaar Properties, however, have denied the movie somehow influenced the building's design. The tower's appearance was based on the spider lily, a flower that grows in the desert. But seemingly reiterating a connection between the two, in The Clone Wars episode "Padawan Lost" there is a character named “Kalifa”. This episode debuted in 2011, a year after the tower was completed. It's most certainly pure coincidence that the tower’s iconic design appeared on Coruscant five years before it did in Dubai. However, fans can still speculate about a possible connection, seemingly reinforced by the Padawan's name.

From the obvious homages to the subtle callbacks

The Mandalorian

The Mandalorian 's third season was filled with more Easter eggs and delightful deep cuts than ever before. Now that it's over , here are all the best Star Wars connections and references you might have missed:

Clan Vizsla

During the opening scene of "The Apostate," which depicts a Mandalorian initiation ritual, one of the flags we see features the logo of Clan Vizsla. That's a famed Mandalorian clan descended from Tarre Vizsla, the creator of the Darksaber and the first Mandalorian inducted into the Jedi Order. In The Clone Wars , Pre Vizsla led the terrorist group Death Watch, which Bo-Katan joined, and Paz Vizsla is a follower of Din Djarin's religion, the Children of the Watch, in The Mandalorian .

In "The Apostate," Grogu notices some creatures floating through hyperspace while he and Din are traveling. Those are Purrgils — space whales, essentially — and they popped up in the animated series Star Wars Rebels . Rebels ended with its lead, Ezra Bridger, facing off against the villainous Grand Admiral Thrawn before a group of Purrgils wrapped around their ship and the two disappeared into hyperspace, never to be seen again. It's believed that the upcoming Ahsoka show will be about trying to find Ezra, hence why Ahsoka was looking for Thrawn in The Mandalorian season 2. So the presence of the Purrgils here is likely planting the seeds for that plot.

Kowakian monkey-lizards

On Nevarro, we see a group of Kowakian monkey-lizards in a tree as Grogu and the Mandalorian arrive. They're of the same species as Salacious B. Crumb , Jabba the Hutt's court jester in Return of the Jedi . We previously saw one of them being roasted on Nevarro in The Mandalorian 's first season.

The Hydian Way

Greef Karga notes in "The Apostate" that Nevarro is now an "official trade spur of the Hydian Way," a deep cut to a hyperroute that has been mentioned in various Star Wars media, including novels and episodes of The Clone Wars . In the Clone Wars episode "R2 Come Home," for example, Plo Koon tells his fellow Jedi, "We shall reinforce our fleet along the Hydian Way."

One of the most notable background aliens on Nevarro, who we can glimpse after Greef Karga says he's "got to level with you," appears to be a Kyuzo. That's the same type of alien as Constable Zuvio from The Force Awakens , who fans famously expected to have a prominent role in the film given he received his own toy, only for Zuvio to briefly appear in the background of a single shot. The species originated in The Clone Wars .

A cook droid

Also on Nevarro, we see the same kind of cooking droid that was in Jabba's Palace during The Book of Boba Fett .

Din Djarin turns to a group of Anzellans to repair IG-11, the same species of alien as Babu Frik, who helped access information within C-3PO in The Rise of Skywalker . Hey hey !

Kalevala and Sundari

At the end of "The Apostate," Din goes to visit Bo-Katan on Kalevala, a planet in the Mandalore system previously mentioned in The Clone Wars as the homeworld of Bo-Katan's sister, Duchess Satine Kryze. She's referred to in the animated show as "Duchess Satine of Kalevala," though The Mandalorian is the first time we're seeing the planet.

Bo-Katan also mentions Sundari, which was the capital city of Mandalore in The Clone Wars , and we previously saw Satine ruling from Sundari in that show. We later see the ruins of the civic center of Sundari in the episode "The Mines of Mandalore," and it looks fairly accurate to how the city was depicted in animation.

At the start of "The Mines of Mandalore," Peli Motto (Amy Sedaris) mentions not wanting to work on Boonta Eve, a major holiday. In The Phantom Menace , the pod race Anakin Skywalker competes in was the Boonta Eve Classic.

The droid R5-D4 is a major part of the episode "The Mines of Mandalore," as Din takes him on his journey to Mandalore after he's unable to get IG-11 fixed.

In A New Hope , R5-D4 was the droid that Luke Skywalker and Owen Lars were originally trying to buy from the Jawas along with C-3PO, only for it to suddenly catch fire, leading Luke to buy R2-D2 instead. A short story in the book From a Certain Point of View later explained that R5-D4 malfunctioned intentionally because he knew R2-D2 was on an important mission to deliver Princess Leia's message to Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Peli Motto asks Grogu who "taught you how to leap like a Lurmen," a reference to a monkey-like species . In the Clone Wars episode "Jedi Crash," Ahsoka Tano and Aayla Secura come across a village of Lurmen, pacifists who want no part of the war with the Separatists.

Din Djarin mentions in "The Mines of Mandalore" that he grew up on the moon of Concordia. We previously saw Concordia on The Clone Wars , which established that this is where members of Death Watch were exiled during Duchess Satine Kryze's pacifist rule. Bo-Katan is a former member of Death Watch, and Din's religion, the Children of the Watch, presumably has its origins with this group.

The Mythosaur

The creature that pulls Din Djarin into the living waters at the end of "The Mines of Mandalore" is a Mythosaur, a legendary beast whose skull is depicted in the logo of the Mandalorians . The Mythosaurs have been mentioned in The Clone Wars and earlier in The Mandalorian , including when Kuiil noted that "your ancestors rode the great Mythosaur" in the first episode of the show. But this is the first time we've ever seen a living one depicted in live-action.

The opera house

When Dr. Pershing gives a speech near the start of the episode "The Convert," this is taking place at the same opera house where Palpatine famously told Anakin Skywalker about the "tragedy of Darth Plagueis the Wise" in Revenge of the Sith .

During his speech in the opera house, Dr. Pershing mentions the "groundbreaking work of the Kaminoans," a reference to the aliens who created the Republic's clone army in Attack of the Clones . We've also recently been seeing them on the animated show The Bad Batch .

The mantabog of Malastare

The droid piloting Dr. Pershing's ship after his speech recommends he visit the Holographic Museum of Extinct Animals and gives a shout-out to the "mantabog of Malastare," one of the displays. Malastare was a planet briefly mentioned in The Phantom Menace — a representative says "the congress of Malastare concurs" during a Senate scene — and it was featured in The Clone Wars during the episode "The Zillo Beast." That episode introduces a massive creature, the Zillo Beast, which is said to have once roamed Malastare but was thought extinct. The mantabog is also the name of a creature from a Star Wars roleplaying game.

Plus, the droid references the " Mysses blossoms " at the botanical gardens, a reference to a type of plant found on Kashyyyk, the homeworld of the Wookiees, in the pre-Disney "Legends" continuity.

The Resistance theme

When Dr. Pershing and Elia are walking together in the Coruscant plaza and eating ice cream in "The Convert," we can hear a rendition of the Resistance theme from the sequel trilogy. This music appears to be diegetic, suggesting the theme is an in-universe anthem for the New Republic. We previously heard the Resistance theme in the season 2 episode "The Passenger" after Din encounters two New Republic pilots.

Photon fizzle

Elia offers to buy Dr. Pershing a Photon fizzle , referring to a type of drink available at Dex's Diner from Attack of the Clones and featured in the cookbook for Galaxy's Edge, Disney's Star Wars theme park area. It was also mentioned in the recent video game LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga .

Benduday and Taungsday

We hear in "The Convert" that two names for days of the week in Star Wars are Benduday and Taungsday. In Star Wars Rebels , Bendu was the name of a key Force-sensitive character who balanced the dark and light sides, and George Lucas' original plan for the Jedi was for them to be called "Jedi Bendu." Taungsday also likely gets its name from the Taungs , a species from the pre-Disney "Legends" continuity.

Elia tells Dr. Pershing to touch the peak of Umate, the highest mountain on Coruscant. We previously saw this mountain in the Clone Wars , including during the episode " Duchess of Mandalore ," and this whole plaza was originally inspired by concept art from Ralph McQuarrie, the legendary artist who worked on the original trilogy. Umate also popped up in the 2021 book Light of the Jedi .

'It's a trap'

At the end of "The Convert," Dr. Pershing tells a Mon Calamari doctor that "it was a trap," which sure seems like an intentional reference to Admiral Ackbar's infamous " it's a trap " line from Return of the Jedi .

While The Mandalorians are discussing their game plan for rescuing Ragnar Vizsla in "The Foundling," Bo-Katan says that the mountains are "no higher than the peaks of Kyrimorut," referring to a stronghold on Mandalore that has previously been mentioned in Legends books.

Kelleran Beq

"The Foundling" finally reveals who rescued Grogu during Order 66: Jedi Master Kelleran Beq, a character introduced on a kids' game show called Star Wars: Jedi Temple Challenge .

Kelleran is also played by Ahmed Best, the actor who portrayed Jar Jar Binks in the prequel trilogy. Best has previously opened up about the fact that he received so much hatred for playing Jar Jar, a divisive character, that he contemplated suicide. Almost 25 years later, though, Star Wars fans celebrated his return to the franchise.

And the return of Jar Jar himself could potentially be around the corner. Kelleran mentions he's bringing Grogu to friends of his, and he's aided by security forces from Naboo, Jar Jar's homeworld.

Shooting first

Early in "The Pirate," Greef Karga tells Gorian Shard that he gunned down one of his men because "he shot first," to which Gorian responds, "Well, now I will shoot first." This could be a reference to "Han shot first," the infamous rallying cry among fans who were unhappy that a special edition of Star Wars: A New Hope adjusted Han's encounter with Greedo so that Greedo fires the first shot.

Also in "The Pirate," Gorian Shard tells Greef Karga that "this isn't sabacc," referring to the card game in which Han Solo beat Lando Calrissian to win the Millennium Falcon, as seen in Solo: A Star Wars Story .

After Captain Teva gets his message from Greef Karga in "The Pirate," he shares a few words with an alien at the bar before setting off. This alien is Garazeb "Zeb" Orrelios, one of the main characters of the animated series Star Wars Rebels. The credits confirm it is Zeb himself and not merely a member of his species. Like with the Purrgil appearance, this cameo (the alien's first in live-action) is likely setting the stage for Zeb to return in the Ahsoka series.

Director cameos

Also in the bar scene in "The Pirate," three Mandalorian directors can be seen chatting in the foreground: Dave Filoni, Deborah Chow, and Rick Famuyiwa. All three previously had cameos as New Republic pilots in season 2's "The Prisoner." This time, though, Filoni gets to wear his signature hat, for which he has become known in real life.

When Gorian Shard is urged to retreat during the final battle in "The Pirate," he declares, "In a puffer pig's eye." A puffer pig is a type of creature that can inflate like a balloon, as previously seen in Star Wars Rebels . In the Rebels episode "Idiot's Array," Lando Calrissian is transporting a puffer pig and explains that the creatures are valuable because they have a "nose for precious minerals" and can "do the job of a dozen mining scanners."

Tom Holland's brother

"Guns for Hire" features a number of notable cameos, namely Jack Black and Lizzo, who make their surprise Star Wars debuts. But one feature you may have missed is Harry Holland, brother of Spider-Man star Tom Holland, showing up at the start of the episode to play the Mon Calamari nobleman.

Christopher Lloyd's character mentions a stockpile of Imperial robotics scheduled to be scrapped at Karthon, referring to the prison moon where Migs Mayfeld was serving his sentence in season 2.

They don't serve our kind here

In "Guns for Hire," Din Djarin and Bo-Katan visit a bar consisting entirely of droids, where Din remarks, "I don't think they get many of our kind here." It's the inverse of a scene from A New Hope where Luke and Obi-Wan visit a cantina on Tatooine but have to leave C-3PO and R2-D2 outside because, as the bartender says, "We don't serve their kind here."

RX-Series droids

The bar in "Guns for Hire" is filled with familiar droids, including a pair of RX-Series. That's the same kind of droid as RX-24, a.k.a. Rex, the pilot on the classic Disney ride Star Tours. After that ride was revamped, Rex was turned into a DJ at Galaxy's Edge .

The Techno Union

In "Guns for Hire," Din and Bo-Katan learn that the nano-droids were manufactured by the Techno Union, referring to the guild that originated in Attack of the Clones . It allied with the Separatists during the events of the prequel trilogy.

Brendol Hux

Moff Gideon meets with a council of Imperials at the start of "The Spies," one of whom is Brendol Hux . This is the father of General Armitage Hux, played by Domhnall Gleeson in the sequel trilogy. In fact, the character in The Mandalorian is portrayed by Gleeson's actual brother, Brian Gleeson. Brendol Hux has previously appeared in the expanded Star Wars media, which revealed that Armitage is his illegitimate son. Captain Phasma ends up becoming Brendol's protégé, only for her to murder him in the novel Phasma .

Gilad Pellaeon

Another member of this Imperial council is Gilad Pellaeon , who had an extensive role as Grand Admiral Thrawn's right-hand man in the old Legends continuity. The character was originally created for Timothy Zahn's Thrawn novels. Pellaeon has also been established as someone who worked with Thrawn in the current Disney continuity, and we heard his voice in the finale of Star Wars Rebels in 2018.

Project Necromancer

Moff Gideon's Imperial council mentions that Brendol Hux is working on something called Project Necromancer. We don't exactly know what that is, but it's likely connected to the efforts to bring back Emperor Palpatine following his apparent death in Return of the Jedi , which will eventually lead to his return in The Rise of Skywalker . The same way The Clone Wars retroactively improved the prequel films, The Mandalorian could soon provide much-needed context to the infamous declaration that "somehow, Palpatine returned."

Meiloorun fruit

Once Grogu is in the IG-11 suit, he passes by a shop and grabs some fruit. This appears to be a meiloorun fruit , which we previously saw on Star Wars Rebels . In the episode "Fighter Flight," Hera sends Ezra and Zeb on a supply run and demands they not return "without at least one meiloorun fruit," and they bring her back one at the end.

Praetorian Guards

At the end of "The Spies," Paz Vizsla is apparently killed by three Praetorian Guards, who were first introduced as guards for Supreme Leader Snoke in The Last Jedi .

The barrier shields

In the finale "The Return," Din Djarin has to fight through a series of barrier shields, which he instructs R5 to deactivate one at a time. This seems like an intentional callback to the end of The Phantom Menace , where Qui-Gon Jinn fights Darth Maul through a series of barrier shields that keep opening and closing. This separates Qui-Gon from Obi-Wan Kenobi, leading to the former's death.

Mouse droids

R5 is spotted in Moff Gideon's base by a group of mouse droids , a.k.a. MSE-6-series repair droids, which we saw on the Death Star in A New Hope . They've also popped up in The Last Jedi , The Clone Wars , and more.

An RA-7 protocol droid

When the camera pans over to show the droid head that helps repair IG-11 in "The Return," on the far left next to all the Stormtrooper helmets, we can briefly see the head of an RA-7 protocol droid. This type of droid was first seen on the sandcrawler in A New Hope , though perhaps its most memorable role was as the droid AP-5 on Star Wars Rebels .

Another Dave Filoni cameo

When Din Djarin makes his deal with Carson Teva in the bar at the end of "The Return," Mandalorian producer Dave Filoni once again makes a cameo in the background, just as he did earlier in the season — meaning his pilot character, Trapper Wolf, seems to just constantly hang out at this bar. Perhaps it's the Cheers of the Star Wars galaxy, and Filoni is the Norm.

Do You Know ALL of These Easter Eggs in Disney World’s Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge?

By AJ and the DFB Team Leave a Comment

Star Wars : Galaxy’s Edge is one of the most intricately themed areas we’ve ever seen in a Disney Park.

Disney World’s Galaxy’s Edge at Night

Every single detail has been designed with total immersion in mind, and the whole experience reads like a love letter to the franchise. But there are a few details that, unless you’re a hardcore Star Wars fan with a keen eye, you might not have noticed. Let’s take a look at some secrets of the galaxy , shall we?

It Came From the Water Fountain

Go to the water fountain at the entrance to the Batuu Marketplace (right next to the restrooms), and you might notice a creepy surprise as you take a drink. Hidden in the piping is a slimy, one-eyed creature that will pop out and stare back at you!

Galaxy’s Edge Marketplace

This is a Dianoga , more famously known as The Trash Compactor Monster. These monstrous mollusks are used for waste management in the Star Wars galaxy, and one kept on the Death Star almost killed Luke and company in A New Hope . They usually make their homes in the filthiest places imaginable… which says bad things about that water fountain. In fact, if you want to feel sick to your stomach, try using the Translator app on your Datapad to read the sign posted by the bottle filler. Preferably before you fill the bottle.

star tours easter eggs

The Dianoga isn’t a huge secret in Galaxy’s Edge. You can see crowds of people trying to snap its picture or using the Datapad to coax it out. But did you know there’s a second Trash Compactor easter egg at Galaxy’s Edge? You can find it in… well… the trash! Look at the themed garbage cans around the outpost. All of them are labeled with a seemingly random string of numbers: 3263827 . What’s with the serial number, and why is it the same on every can?

Galaxy’s Edge Trash Can

In the famous trash compactor scene , a frantic Luke sends C-3PO a distress signal telling him to disable the machinery. To help him, he calls out the hatch number of the trash compactor: 3263827! It seems like the Death Star and Black Spire Outpost have the same waste management company! 😉

These ARE The Droids You’re Looking For

Droid Depot is home to all sorts of robotic references. Maybe you spotted the imperial enforcer droid locked behind a grate; the same model as K-2SO from Rogue One . Considering that K-2 was… um… decisively prevented from making future appearances in the franchise, that likely isn’t our favorite reprogrammed companion. However, several of the droids around Batuu have made appearances in the films!

Enforcer Droid

There are several references here, from the probe droid that scanned Jyn Erso in Rogue One to one of the GNK droids powering ships at the Battle of Yavin. The most famous, however, has to be an astromech that should look familiar to longtime fans; it’s the same one Uncle Owen tries to buy at the start of A New Hope, only for its motivator to fail just in time to save R2-D2 from the scrap heap! You can only find out the identities of these famous droids by using the Hack function on your datapad, so get slicing!

Batuu Beats

If you’re fortunate enough to get a booking at Oga’s Cantina , you might spot a few unique Easter eggs. The most obvious is the fact that R3X , the pilot from the original Star Tours , is now the house DJ. He’s got an adorable pair of headphones and will occasionally make quips from the attraction as he spins tunes.

Dj Rex at Oga’s Cantina

Occasionally, the hyperdrive powering the whole cantina will fail, leading to a blackout. This leads to an exciting group chant as the bartenders start banging on the engine, erupting in a cheer as the power comes back on and R3X opens his new set with a performance of “Mad About Mad About Me”. If that name sounds familiar, it’s because it’s R3X’s remix of the famous Cantina Band song from A New Hope.

Oga’s Cantina Hyperdrive

Speaking of which, the entire playlist is available for free online and can be found on every major streaming service. Listening to the songs and looking at the artists will also reveal some fun easter eggs. For instance, if “Modal Notes” reminds you of the Cantina Band song, that’s because it’s by the Cantina Band: F’igrin D’an and the Modal Nodes .

star tours easter eggs

Cantina Band ©Lucasfilm

Another familiar singer might be RB Snootles , who performs on the song “Moulee-rah”. Sy Snootles is a member of the Max Rebo Band, who famously performed “Lapti Nek” and “Jedi Rocks” at Jabba the Hutt’s palace in Return of the Jedi . Perhaps a relative?

star tours easter eggs

Jabba’s Palace Band ©Lucasfilm

One last song of note: if you’re lucky, you’ll be able to take part in Batuu’s traditional drinking song, “Una Duey Dee.”  A deep-voiced and somewhat intoxicated singer named Kra Mer 5 will perform as the entire cantina bangs the tables and chants along. It’s a high energy experience, and one of the best times to be at Oga’s. A fun fact, “Una Duey Dee” means “One Two Three” in Gungan, giving the only hint we’ve got at the singer’s species. Kra Mer 5, if you’re out there, you’ve done good work in redeeming the Gungan name after what Jar Jar Binks did. 😉

A Retched Hive of Scum and Villainy… and tasty drinks!

Ok ok, so Jar Jar did usher in 30 years of imperialism by giving emergency powers to Palpatine, but it’s a really good song, okay?

Antiquities and Curiosities

Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities is one of the coolest shops in Black Spire Outpost. It’s like a Star Wars Museum! The merchandise here is loaded with history, but some of the coolest stuff is only visible if you look up.

star tours easter eggs

Dok Ondar’s Den of Antiquities

The inaccessible upper floors of Dok-Ondar’s are filled with artifacts from across the galaxy. There’s a Tauntaun bust , which you might recognize from The Empire Strikes Back as the world’s first arctic mount/sleeping bag. 😉 There’s also the medals of valor that Leia gave to Luke and Han at the end of A New Hope . Maybe Han sold his to pay off a debt?

star tours easter eggs

Tauntaun Bust

One cool detail for Disney+ fans should look for is a familiar-looking helm and rifle. That’s right, it’s the helmet and signature weapon of The Mandalorian , defender of Baby Yoda and star of the hottest new series of 2019. Considering that weapons are a part of his religion and removing his helmet is forbidden, the fact they’re on Dok-Ondar’s wall doesn’t exactly bode well for him… we hope these are just replicas!

A Living Galaxy

One thing that’s beautiful about Batuu is how it’s a fully detailed world. We’re just getting a glimpse of it as part of our adventures, but every cast member has a detailed backstory they’ve come up with themselves. Next time you’re in Batuu, just ask them about themselves. Where are they from? What do they think of the First Order? Do they know any cool facts about the outpost? You never know what you’ll get from that conversation; you might even end up invited to a game of Sabacc, or recruited for a secret Resistance mission.

star tours easter eggs

Citizen of Batuu

One of our favorite parts of the area is the face characters. Unlike your typical Disney princesses, these guys have an agenda. Vi Moradi might give you a top-secret mission. Hux will sneeringly check garbage pails for evidence of contraband, only to recoil in disgust from the scent. Once, Chewbacca snuck up on us and asked if we were half-Wookie… which is we knew we needed a shave when we got home! Try talking to everyone you meet; Galaxy’s Edge is just as much of a roleplaying experience as it is an attraction, and you’re missing out if you’re just a passive observer.

So next time you’re exploring the streets of Batuu, take a look around! You never know what secrets you might be missing right in front of you!

Screen Rant

Wish's 23 easter eggs & disney movie references explained.

Wish’s numerous Disney Easter eggs and references cement Disney’s newest animated movie as a love letter to Disney’s past classic films and moments.

Warning: Spoilers ahead for Disney's Wish!

Disney’s Wish is a love letter to 100 years of iconic animated classics, exemplified by Wish’s impressive amount of Disney Easter eggs and references. Wish follows 17-year-old Asha, who discovers that the wish-granting King Magnifico isn’t as benevolent as he appears. After Asha learns the wishes Magnifico takes from Rosas’ subjects won’t be granted, she, along with the magic-wielding Star and her goat Valentino, endeavor to return the wishes to the people. The dynamic between Asha and Magnifico is a return to form for Disney’s animated movies, but that isn’t the only way Wish pays homage to Disney’s past.

Wish ’s story is completely original, but the newest Disney movie finds many ways to salute past beloved Disney classics through its liberal use of Easter eggs . In fact, the creators behind the movie claim that there are over 100 Disney Easter eggs and references throughout Wish . Given the staggering amount of Easter eggs, catching all of Wish ’s Disney references is a Herculean feat. However, doing so allows audiences to both enjoy nostalgic Disney memories of past features while making new ones with Wish .

7 Reasons Wish's Rotten Tomatoes Score Is So Divisive

23 wish's storybook intro is a nod to other classic disney intros, wish's storybook opening references the intros of classic disney movies.

This framing device is an early hint that Wish is a love letter to classic Disney.

Wish ’s Disney Easter eggs begin as early as the movie’s intro, which calls back to some of Disney’s other classic movies. The movie’s opening is framed through the use of a storybook to establish Wish ’s lore and backstory complete with a "Once upon a time" voiceover. Although this is a clever way to give exposition without weighing down Wish ’s plot, this isn’t the first time Disney has used a storybook to frame its story.

Using a storybook as a framing device is a tactic that several of Disney’s early classics employed, namely Disney's first three official princess movies Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs , Cinderella , and Sleeping Beauty . The design of the storybook is even similar to the ones that appear there. This framing device is an early hint that Wish is a love letter to classic Disney.

22 Asha's Friends Are A Reference To Snow White's Seven Dwarfs

Asha's friends in wish each correspond with one of snow white's seven dwarfs.

Wish uses several character archetypes that Disney is known for employing , including a reference to some of Snow White ’s most famous characters. Asha’s best friends are all references to Snow White ’s seven dwarfs. Each of her closest friends have one characteristic that stands out for their personalities, much like the dwarfs. Gabo is the most sarcastic of the group, for example, while Bazeema is the shyest. These characteristics aren't the only way the characters line up though.

This point is driven home by their names: Dahlia (Doc), Simon (Sleepy), Gabo (Grumpy), Hal (Happy), Dario (Dopey), Bezeema (Bashful), and Safi (Sneezy) . Even the color schemes for their clothing are similar. Dahlia and Gabo both wear shades of red, like Doc and Grumpy, while Dario and Dopey both wear green, and Bezeema and Bashful are both in orange.

21 Magnifico Is A Nod To Past Disney Villains

Magnifico's evil ways & lair pay homage to disney's classic villains.

Disney has varied their villain archetypes in recent years, but Wish ’s Magnifico is a nod to classic Disney villains. Rather than being a twist villain like many of Disney’s recent animated baddies, it is established early in Wish ’s run that Magnifico is pure evil, with his actions being fueled by pride and vanity rather than the altruism he tries to claim. Magnifico’s evil nature and powers harkens back to several classic Disney villains, such as Snow White ’s Evil Queen, The Emperor’s New Groove ’s Yzma, The Little Mermaid ’s Ursula, and Sleeping Beauty ’s Maleficent .

To drive home Magnifico’s connections to past Disney villains, Wish sprinkles Easter eggs throughout his evil lair that tie him to classic Disney evildoers. Vials that resemble Yzma’s poison potions can be seen in Magnifico’s lab. There are even more references in the dungeon once Magnifico decides to embrace forbidden magic, including the Evil Queen’s poison apple and magic green hands that resemble the ones Ursula used to steal Ariel’s voice.

Magnifico’s vain obsession with mirrors also harkens back to the Evil Queen’s vanity with the Magic Mirror. These Easter eggs tell the audience right away that Magnifico is unequivocally up to no good.

20 A Copy Of Aurora’s Dress From Sleeping Beauty Appears In A Wish

One of the wishes shows aurora's iconic outfit from sleeping beauty.

When Wish ’s main characters view the wishes that Magnifico is keeping in his possession, they often contain brief references to classic Disney movies. The wishes appear as small orbs that Magnifico can view images of the person's wish within. Though these vary in how obvious they are, one of the clearest can be seen in a wish where the subject desires to be a dressmaker.

Specifically, she wishes to make the most beautiful gowns in the land. She's given the chance to achieve her wish in one of Magnifico's wish-granting ceremonies, complete with a pair of magical golden scissors, but her wish can briefly be seen when he decides to grant it. In the wish, the lady is shown crafting a gown that is nearly identical to Aurora’s iconic dress from Sleeping Beauty .

19 The Advice Asha Got From Her Father Harkens Back To Mufasa’s Speech To Simba

Wish's fatherly advice references mufasa's from the lion king.

One of the guiding forces in Asha’s life is the memory of her late father, who used to take her stargazing. He died five years before the events of the movie. Even when he was sick, the two used to climb a specific tree that allowed them to feel as if they were sitting among the stars. According to Asha, her father used to tell her that “ the stars are there to guide us ,” which is a reference to one of Mufasa’s famous speeches to Simba in The Lion King .

Mufasa and Simba stargaze much like Asha and her father did. While Mufasa’s advice for Simba is more metaphorical, Asha is inspired by her father’s past words to wish upon a star. As a result, this is one of the most important Easter eggs to Wis h’s plot, as Asha’s wish is what sets the story in motion.

18 Asha’s Hair References A Famous Pocahontas Moment

Asha recreates pocahontas' "colors of the wind".

Many of Wish ’s Disney references are brief visual cues thanks to the gorgeous animation, including a quick Pocahontas Easter egg. While Asha is standing on the cliff as she makes her wish, the wind blows her hair. Her hair is swept very carefully over one shoulder throughout the movie, but as it sways in the wind, it will look familiar to Disney fans.

This visual is reminiscent of the famous image of Pocahontas in the “Colors of the Wind” sequence from the movie of the same name . During that song, the titular character is asking John Smith about his connection to nature, if he can even understand the beauty of it. Similar to Pocahontas in “Colors of the Wind”, Asha’s wish is a moment of her reconnecting to and affirming her personal beliefs when confronted with sinister influences, making the reference an apt one.

17 Wish’s Wishing Well Is A Reference To Snow White

The well asha passes in wish looks like snow white's wishing well.

After Asha’s wish results in the arrival of Star, she and Valentino chase Star through the woods. During the chase sequence, Asha briefly leans against a well. The sequence is fast-paced and adrenaline-fueled for the audience, so viewers might not be paying attention to what's going on around Asha until the animals start speaking to her. The well she leans against, however, bears a striking resemblance to the wishing well from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs , one of the first of numerous references that Wish makes to Disney’s first feature film .

In Snow White's story, she gathers water while singing to the birds. She specifically sings about wishing for her prince to come. A similar design for the well was also used as an Easter egg in Disney's Enchanted as the "wishing well" that Giselle falls through to end up outside of her animated fairy tale.

16 Wish’s Woodland Animals Reference Disney’s Famous Talking Animal Characters

The animals star gives the power of speech to reference other disney animals.

Disney’s animated movies are known for featuring talking animals, and Wish continues this trend when Star enchants several woodland creatures, including Asha’s goat Valentino, allowing them to speak . This itself is a reference to classic Disney features, but there are other references and Easter eggs within this woodland scene. The references in this scene vary in specificity, with some animals merely being familiar features in other Disney animated classics, to actually referencing specific Disney characters.

Although few of the animals featured in Wish ’s woodland scene receive names, those that do are clear Easter eggs to other Disney movies. When a bear and deer talk to each other, they call each other “ John ” and “ Bambi ,” which reference the characters Little John of Robin Hood and Bambi from his eponymous film . There is also a rabbit who stomps his foot while speaking, which is a clear reference to Bambi ’s Thumper. In addition, there are two mice inside a leaf that bear a resemblance to Bernard and Bianca of The Rescuers .

15 Star Accidentally Draws Mickey In Magnifico’s Library

Then enchanted quill references mickey mouse.

Star is the source of many of Wish ’s Disney Easter eggs, including a brief moment in Magnifico’s study. When Star, Asha, and Valentino are attempting to break into Magnifico’s library to steal back the wishes of Asha’s family, they get stuck in the food chute that they were trying to sneak in through. In an attempt to release the locking mechanism, Star tries to use magic, but it backfires. Instead, Star accidentally enchants a quill on Magnifico’s work table, which can be seen drawing the outline of the Disney mascot Mickey Mouse.

Hidden Mickeys are actually long-running Easter eggs for Disney fans. Many Disney properties, not just animated movies, feature the outline of Mickey Mouse in a nod to the studio's best-known animated character. The ABC series Once Upon A Time , for example, was known for featuring them in unlikely places, such as made up of gears, or in the contents of a desk drawer.

14 Asha’s Moves In Magnifico’s Library Are Like Sorcerer Mickey From Fantasia

Asha's movements when trying to unlock magnifico's door are like mickey's in fantasia.

Once Wish ’s three main characters finally free themselves from the locked food chute, they quickly set to work on trying to get into the locked door, behind which Magnifico keeps the wishes of the people of Rosas. As the only person who had been inside before, Asha attempts to unlock the doors by mimicking Magnifico’s movements. Though Asha is unsuccessful in her attempts, the movements that Asha tries on the door resemble those that Sorcerer Mickey used in Fantasia . These movements include her arms out to her sides and above her head in sweeping motions.

Both characters were going to apprentice under more powerful magic users.

Similar to Mickey in Fantasia , Asha has a middling track record of successfully using magic. Both characters were going to apprentice under more powerful magic users. Luckily for Asha, Star comes in to help her, just like Fantasia ’s Sorcerer, before anything gets out of hand.

13 Magnifico’s Animated Objects Reference Beauty & The Beast

Magnifico enchants objects like beauty & the beast's during his villain song.

Magnifico goes into full evil villain mode in his song “This Is The Thanks I Get?!” after his actions are questioned during an address to the people of Rosas, and the song’s sequence holds many Disney references, including one to Beauty and the Beast . At one point in the song, Magnifico enchants some empty knight gear, which all become animated, seemingly alive.

The Coat of Arms that Magnifico dances with during “This Is The Thanks I Get?!” is a reference to Beauty and the Beast ’s own enchanted everyday objects , which are central to that film’s plot. There, the enchanted objects are the employees and household servants of the prince who has been turned into a beast though. They move themselves rather than being moved by magic.

12 Wish’s Dungeon Stairs Are Like Snow White’s

The stairs to magnifico's dungeon look like the ones in snow white.

Once Magnifico makes the decision to embrace the forbidden magic that he had been waxing poetic about the dangers of, he decides to retreat from his library to the dungeon in the basement. A set of spiraling stairs appears that wasn’t there before, and Magnifico enters the dungeon, where he creates his evil magic staff. These dungeon stairs bear a striking resemblance to the ones from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs , adding to Wish ’s long list of Snow White homages.

This makes sense considering he also ends up trapped in a mirror and Queen Amaya decides to have the mirror stored in the dungeon as well. It almost makes the picture complete, since that's where Snow White's Evil Queen also had her magic mirror. All that's missing is the Evil Queen and her cauldron.

11 Asha’s Messenger Mouse For Queen Amaya Is A Nod To Cinderella

The mouse asha sends to talk to queen amaya references cinderella's gus gus.

During the ceremony where King Magnifico declares Asha a wanted enemy of Rosas, Asha, and Star are hidden nearby and notice how fearful the queen looks. The duo employs some unorthodox help to get Queen Amaya’s attention by appealing to a creature in a nod to Cinderella .

Since so many other animals have already been granted the ability to speak, Star enchants a mouse to deliver a message from Asha to Amaya, which is similar to the role of the mice in the Disney classic Cinderella . To fully cement this nod, the mouse is even nibbling on a kernel of corn when Star and Asha enlist its help, which is an Easter egg to Cinderella ’s Gus Gus , who had a particular fondness for corn and would pick up the kernels when Cinderella fed the birds.

10 The Wishes Magnifico Crushes Reference Past Classic Disney Characters

Magnifico destroys the wishes other past disney characters towards the end of wish.

In an effort to gain even more power, Magnifico crushes the wishes of three citizens of Rosas. As he does so, Magnifico states the wishes depicted in each orb, laughing at them before destroying them. Although all three of the townsfolk whose wishes Magnifico crushes have been seen throughout Wish prior to this, the contents of their wishes that Magnifico describes reference past Disney animated movies .

The first wish that Magnifico destroys is a reference to Peter Pan , which Magnifico states is a wish for a Fantasyland in the sky, to which Magnifico dismissively says, “How about Neverland?” The image in the wish even shows what looks to be Peter in his signature green flying through the air.

Next, Magnifico destroys a wish for the perfect nanny to take care of the wisher’s children, by "popping" the wish bubble, which is a clear reference to Mr. Banks from Mary Poppins . The viewer doesn't get a clear look at that particular wish.

Finally, Magnifico crushes a wish for “ true love .” Although this could reference nearly any Disney Princess feature, the specific reference in this scene is likely meant to be to The Little Mermaid since Magnifico says, “ So much for true love, ” a line that Ursula utters to Ariel in the movie.

9 Asha Becomes Cinderella’s Fairy Godmother

Asha takes on the fairy godmother's characteristics in a nod to cinderella.

Asha’s arc in Wish sees her become something of a Fairy Godmother for Rosas, which is a nod to the famous Cinderella character. There are a few different nods to Cinderella ’s Fairy Godmother throughout the ending of Wish , beginning with Asha’s hooded robes that she wears to prevent anyone from seeing her face , which bear a resemblance to those that the Fairy Godmother dons.

Star also gifts Asha a magic wand, just like the one that the Fairy Godmother wields in Cinderella . At the very end of the movie, when Asha’s friends declare her Rosas’ Fairy Godmother, Asha even undergoes the iconic Cinderella dress transformation, cementing her new role in the kingdom. Fairy Godmothers are referenced throughout the movie as a mythical being by Asha's friends, so it's not clear if Asha is the first of her kind, or if Star just grants her the ability to become one.

8 Wish’s Flying Books Are A Reference To The Sword In The Stone

The flying books in wish are reminiscent of the sword in the stone.

While Asha attempts to draw away Magnifico, her friends, and Queen Amaya attempt to free the wishes from the castle by opening up the roof. Queen Amaya instructs the group to use the pulley system in the castle, but Gabo protests that he's afraid of heights. In order to get to the pulleys, they have to either climb or find another way up into the air. In doing this, they are aided by some flying books enchanted by Star to give them a lift to where they need to go.

These flying books reference Disney’s lesser-known movie The Sword in the Stone , in which Merlin similarly bewitched books to levitate. Interestingly, Disney is developing a live-action The Sword in the Stone movie . The movie is inspired by the legend of Camelot's King Arthur and his relationship with Merlin.

7 One Of Wish’s Characters Does A Tarzan Yell

Wish's character yell is a reference to tarzan.

After several failed attempts to pull the roof open with the pulleys, the Wish characters come to the conclusion that they aren’t strong enough. A suggestion from Star and Gabo leads them to jump over the railing of the second floor of Magnifico’s study, using gravity to help open up the roof. As they jump, one of the characters lets out a loud yell, which is reminiscent of the iconic one used by Disney’s Tarzan.

There have been many adaptations of Tarzan for the screen that have featured variations of his yell.

This is especially appropriate considering they're using the pulley system's ropes in the same way that Tarzan would use vines to travel through the jungle. Of course, Tarzan's yell has been used and mimicked before Disney's animated version of the story as well. There have been many adaptations of Tarzan for the screen that have featured variations of his yell.

6 Magnifico’s Green Thorns Reference Sleeping Beauty

Magnifico's magic thorns are reminiscent of maleficent in sleeping beauty.

When Magnifico reveals the full extent of his evil powers afforded to him through his magic staff to Rosas’ citizens, he uses a strong magic spell to trap them after they attempt to dissent. This releases glowing green vines and thorns, which trap his subjects to the ground, keeping them in the kingdom and under his rule. These magic green thorns bear a resemblance to the ones that Maleficent uses in Sleeping Beauty .

Maleficent's vines and thorns aren't exactly to keep people in the kingdom, however, but more to keep people out. She enchants the vines and thorns to grow all around a kingdom where Aurora has pricked her finger and caused a magical sleep to befall every living person. The thick wall of vines and thorns prevents anyone to getting to them and breaking the spell until Prince Phillip uses his sword to cut himself a path.

5 Magnifico’s Fate Is A Nod To Aladdin’s Villain Defeat

Magnifico is captured in the same way as aladdin's jafar.

After Magnifico spent so many years trapping the wishes of Rosas’ citizens, he is finally defeated by the power of wishes in Wish’s ending. As the citizens of Rosas become openly defiant of him, their desire to stand up to him, to come into their own power, and to embrace their own wishes again instead of allowing him to keep them, all weaken his hold over them.

This power not only frees Star from Magnifico’s staff, but also traps Magnifico inside the staff's mirrored adornment, where it appears he will remain indefinitely, according to Queen Amaya. Magnifico being outdone by the power of a wish and that power ending up trapping Magnifico inside his staff is reminiscent of Jafar becoming trapped within the genie lamp in Aladdin , making Magnifico's defeat a nod to a past Disney villain takedown.

4 Valentino's Wish Is Similar To Zootopia

Valentino's wish for an animal utopia is the plot of zootopia.

Once Rosas is free of Magnifico’s evil grasp, Wish ’s main characters begin actually granting the wishes of Rosas’ citizens and discussing their dreams more openly. During this ending scene of the movie, Valentino expresses his own desire for a utopia in which animals are all equal and don clothing just like humans. Although Valentino doesn’t get to see his wish come to fruition in Wish , his desire is a clever nod that is realized by the plot of the animated movie Zootopia , which features anthropomorphic animals living in a utopia.

Zootopia is such a beloved concept that the first movie isn't where it stops either. A miniseries, called Zootopia+ is also available on Disney+, and a sequel movie is on the way in 2025. Valentino would be pleasantly surprised to see his wish thriving for Disney.

Peter Carl Faberge

Jeweller Born: St. Petersburg - 30 May 1846 Died: Lausanne, Switzerland - 24 September 1920

In 1860, the family moved to Dresden, leaving the business in the hands of a trusted manager while Carl Faberge was groomed to take over the family business. He studied first in Dresden, and then with top goldsmiths in other major European cities, including Josef Friedman in Frankfurt, before returning to St. Petersburg in 1872. During the next decade, while the firm was involved with cataloguing and restoring the Hermitage's jewel collection, the House of Faberge continued to produce jewellery in the heavy French style fashionable at the time.

In 1882, Carl Faberge was named a Master Jeweller and at the Pan-Russian Exhibition in Moscow Tsar Alexander III bought a pair of Faberge cufflinks and personally praised Faberge for his replica of a gold Scythian bracelet from the 4th century BC, kept in the Hermitage, saying that Faberge . Drawing inspiration from the treasures he had seen in museums and private collections throughout Europe, especially the Grunes Gewolbe (Green Vault) in Dresden, from the eclecticism and intricacy of newly fashionable Art Nouveau, and from Russian folk traditions, Faberge had begun to design more and more artistic jewellery and objets d'art.

Alexander III ordered the first Faberge egg (the First Hen Egg) as an Easter gift for his wife, Empress Maria Fyodorovna, in 1885. The egg, made of gold covered with white enamel, opened to reveal a matte yellow gold yolk which contained a gold hen with ruby eyes. The hen in turn had a hinged tale, and inside were a diamond model of the Imperial crown and a ruby pendant that could be worn on a chain. The egg was such a success that the House of Faberge was immediately made "goldsmith by special appointment to the Imperial Court", and each year from then until the October Revolution (except for 1904 and 1905, due to the Russo-Japanese War), Alexander III and then his heir Nicholas II presented an original Faberge egg to the Russian Empress (Nicholas gave one egg to his wife, Alexandra Fyodorovna, and one to his mother). In total, Faberge produced at least 52 eggs for the Imperial family, each designed to a theme, often drawn from notable events in Russia or Romanov anniversaries and celebrations, and each featuring a surprise when opened, often with intricate mechanisms. These were a surprise even to the Emperor himself, as Alexander gave Carl Faberge carte blanche to conceive and design the eggs, and knew nothing until the egg was collected from the jeweller a few days before Christmas. Among the most famous are the Trans-Siberian Egg of 1900 and the vast Moscow Kremlin Egg of 1906, which marked the first visit by Nicholas and Alexandra to Moscow.

The Imperial Eggs brought the House of Faberge immediate international success. Eggs were presented to Romanov relatives in royal and aristocratic houses throughout Europe, and smaller versions worn as pendants became highly fashionable accessories. The Faberge output was not limited to eggs, however. The company produced all types of jewellery, ornaments and tableware, with branches in Moscow, Kiev, Odessa and London. The House of Faberge became the largest jewellery manufacturer in Russia, producing over 150 000 pieces by the time of the October Revolution.

In 1900, Faberge commissioned the architect Carl Schmidt, son of a German engineer, to design new premises for the company. The Art Nouveau building at 24, Bolshaya Morskaya Ulitsa contained not only the ground floor store, but also the Faberge family's 15-room apartment and the workshops of his craftsmen. The most prominent of these were the Finns Michael Perkhin, Henrik Wigstrom, and August and Albert Holmstrom. For several years, Carl Faberge's main assistant in the designing of jewellery was his younger brother, Agathon Faberge (1862-1895), who had also trained in Dresden.

The House of Faberge was nationalised in 1918, and Carl Faberge left St. Petersburg on the last diplomatic train to Riga. At the age of 72, Faberge was crushed by the blow to his life and his craft. He died in Lausanne on 24 September 1920.

Since 2013 the lavish 18th century Shuvalov Palace, St. Petersburg has been the home of Museum Faberge and holds the world's largest collection of Faberge eggs.

Echo is still on the science vessel searching the computer for Omega's location when a droid spots him. He shoots it and takes its hand to cover his lack of one. Echo escapes through the droid port, the same way he entered the ship.

Omega wants to find out what is happening so she escapes through the wall , telling the other children to cover for her.

The Empire's forces are combing the jungle looking for the Batch and Rampart. Crosshair reminds Rampart that the Empire betrayed them both.

Echo gets a lock on Omega's location .

Lazy Rampart sits down in the forest. But that's no rock. It's a Dryax , the same creature Omega and Crosshair encountered when they were escaping Tantiss back in Episode 3 . Dryax are a type of huge, humanoid-shaped predator found in the jungles around Tantiss base on Weyland . The last time they escaped because it was taken out by a pack of Lurca Hounds . This time they won't be so lucky.

Not wanting to give away their positions with blaster fire, they fight it head on. Wrecker jumps on the Dryax like he’s in a rodeo but is thrown off and injured .

Thanks to Rampart’s whining, a group of Stormtroopers spot Clone Force 99 but the Dryax attacks them before they can get the Clones. They lose track of Rampart who is eventually captured by the Troopers. This is going to be bad I'm sure.

Dr Scalder and the medical droid appear in The Vault. Omega isn’t back yet so Eva pretends to be sick in order to stall them.

Omega spots a Zillo Beast being harmed as she is climbing through the walls. It’s the same one the Batch encountered before, the one the Empire was after in Season 2 Episode 11 .

Before Scalder finds her missing,  Omega makes it back in time.

Emerie finds Echo accessing the console and reveals she knows who he is. She then tells him Omega and the other children are in the Vault and he will need her help to get them out.

Omega tells the others she found something big (the Zillo Beast) and that she has a plan to get them out . But it's going to take some teamwork.

The Bad Batch Season 3 Episodes 1-14 are now streaming on Disney+.

Taylor Swift Announces New Music Video With Cryptic Clip Full of ‘Tortured Poets' Easter Eggs

Taylor Swift announced Tuesday night (April 16) that her new music video is set to drop shortly after her 11th studio album The Tortured Poets Department arrives later this week - but she didn't stop there. The pop star also posted a cryptic video on Instagram filled with what appears to be Easter eggs about her new era, leaving Swifties scrambling to decipher them in time.

The mysterious clip begins with an animated, first-person view of a room full of crumpled papers, colorful vinyls, photos and more items alluding to Swift's most recent album, Midnights . It then simulates the viewer exiting the room, walking down a stark hallway and entering another wing labeled "The Tortured Poets Department," in which a wall-hanging calendar reveals that the singer's new visual will drop at 8 p.m. ET Friday (April 19), 20 hours after Tortured Poets arrives on streaming services.

The calendar doesn't specify which of the 16 songs on Swift's new record is getting the music video treatment, but it does provide a possible clue. Toward the bottom, someone jotted down 14 tally marks, potentially indicating that the song in question comes 14th on the tracklist, aka "The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived."

Or, it could be a reference to track one, "Fortnight" featuring Post Malone. (How many days are in a fortnight? That's right, 14.)

The video comes as Swifties continue to pore over clues hidden at Spotify's Tortured Poets library pop-up in Los Angeles, which is adorned with texts, dried flowers, figurines and more. Most enticing is a book of stationary on display in a clear case, the pages of which are turned on an unknown schedule to reveal one new lyric at a time. Recently, it bore the message, "One less temptress, one less dagger to sharpen."

But fans may be remiss not to search for Easter eggs in Swift's new animation, too, especially when it comes to what gets left behind in the Midnights room. Swiftie sleuths online have already begun concocting theories about the sunshine streaming in through the windows, the time displayed by a wall clock and the gel pens littered on the table (which tie back to something the pop star once said about how she mentally categorizes her songs).

See the clip, as well as a few Swiftie theories it's inspired, below.
