Collars&Cuffs

The history of CHIPPENDALES begins in 1979 when the Indian emigrant Somen Banerjee bought an old bar in Los Angeles. Inspired by British furniture maker Thomas Chippendale, he converted the bar into a club called “Chippendales”. Here he develops a show with ten to twelve dancers who embody the most diverse types of men. Her legendary trademark: “Collars&Cuffs” (bow ties and cuffs). The club is so successful that the show is brought to New York, where it immediately hits home. With the two shows in the tourist cities of New York and Los Angeles, the CHIPPENDALES quickly made a name for themselves in the USA. Every woman who has seen the Chippendales tells her friends, sisters, mothers and grandmothers about this unique show. Today, the CHIPPENDALES perform in their very own Las Vegas theater year-round to a full audience.    It quickly becomes clear why the CHIPPENDALES are the undisputed No. 1 worldwide in the field of women’s entertainment: they have style and class. Vom schummrigen Nachtclub in Los Angeles hinaus auf die große Showbühne: Als Vorreiter des Männer-Striptease setzen die Chippendales seit über vier Jahrzehnten ganz eigene Maßstäbe. Neben knisternder Erotik sind auch aufwendig choreografierte Tanz- und Gesangsnummern fester Bestandteil wechselnder Chippendales-Shows. Wo diese muskelgestählten Entertainer auftreten, gerät das vornehmlich weibliche Publikum in Verzückung.

Aus der Not eine Tugend machen: Wie viele zündende Ideen basiert die Gründung der wohl berühmtesten Stripper-Formation der Welt auf einer scheinbar ausweglosen Situation. Weil ihr Nachtclub namens „Destiny II“ kaum nennenswerte Gewinne erzielt, engagieren Somen „Steve“ Banerjee und Bruce Nahin im Jahr 1979 erstmals eine Gruppe männlicher Tänzer und Stripper.

Unter der Leitung von Paul Snider avancieren die nach dem Chippendale-Mobiliar ihrer neuen Wirkungsstätte benannten Bühnenkünstler schnell zum heiß begehrten Export-Schlager. Erste Chippendales-Touren beschränken sich noch auf US-Terrain, doch bald schon liegt die ganze Welt den hübsch anzusehenden Multitalenten zu Füßen. Mit ihrer anregenden Performance-Kunst begründen die Chippendales eine neue Ära stilvoller Erotik .

Die Chippendales erobern die Welt

Während sich die frohe Kunde dieses außergewöhnlichen Live-Erlebnisses schnell verbreitet, kultivieren die Chippendales ihren charakteristischen Stil weiter. Von Beginn an fungieren die weißen Krägen mit schwarzer Fliege und die um die Handgelenke gelegten Ärmelmanschetten als typisches Erkennungszeichen. Auch wenn die Hüllen im Laufe jeder Chippendales-Show fallen, ziehen sich diese Elemente wie ein roter Faden durch die mit Herzblut präsentierten Choreografien.

Jenseits der Jahrtausendwende sind die Chippendales gleich in fünffacher Besetzung unterwegs: Während sich vier Ensembles auf die West- und Ostküste der USA, Boston und die Glücksspiel-Metropole Las Vegas aufteilen, bestreitet eine fünfte Formation die Chippendales-Touren in Europa und Südafrika.

Auch Sternchen aus Reality-TV-Formaten lassen gelegentlich die Hüllen fallen: So stieß etwa TV-Bachelor Paul Jahnke bei der Deutschland-Tour 2019 zu den Strippern.

At 100-1 to win outright in the 2024 Masters odds, it's unlikely that Tiger Woods will pick up his sixth career green jacket this week at the Masters 2024. Who won the Masters in 2023? Jon Rahm became champion before LIV Golf defection

Only three golfers have won back-to-back Masters tournaments at Augusta: Jack Nicklaus, Nick Faldo, and Tiger Woods. Jon Rahm is hoping to become the fourth.

The 2023 Masters winner will be in the field in 2024 as he looks to do something that hasn't been done since 2002, when a Tiger Woods in the midst of his first prime won golf's first major of the season for the second time in a row. Rahm, who shot a 12-under 276 for the weekend, beat out Phil Mickelson and Brooks Koepka (8-under 280) for his first green jacket.

This year, it won't get any easier. Rahm will find himself up against Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy, Jordan Spieth, and many more of golf's best as he looks for his third career major win.

Rahm, who went on to join LIV Golf later in 2023 despite previously pledging himself to the PGA Tour, is suspended from the PGA Tour for his defection to the controversial league. However, he is able to play at Augusta thanks to The Masters' eligibility rules.

Here's what to know about the defending champion at Augusta.

Who won the Masters in 2023?

Spanish golfer Jon Rahm is the defending Masters champion, making him the second non-USA-born golfer in three years to don the green jacket (2021 winner Hideki Matsuyama was born in Ehime prefecture in Japan).

Rahm held off LIV golfers Brooks Koepka and Phil Mickelson to win his first Masters, capping off an utterly torrid start to his season. Koepka entered the final round with the lead while Mickelson came in 10 strokes off pace, putting Rahm in the Goldilocks position to pull off a Sunday victory.

He shot 3-under 69 in the final round whereas Koepka shot 3-over 75, giving Rahm a four-stroke victory. Mickelson, meanwhile, shot 7-under 65 on Sunday to work his way into a tie for second on the leaderboard.

“Hard to put it into words," Rahm said after his win, per Golf Digest . "Obviously we all dream of things like this as players, and you try to visualize what it's going to be like and what it's going to feel like. And when I hit that third shot on the green [at the 18th], and I could tell it was close by the crowd's reaction, just the wave of emotion of so many things just overtook me. Never thought I was going to cry by winning a golf tournament, but I got very close on that 18th hole."

Rahm had a phenomenal first two days at Augusta before a lackluster third round threatened his position atop the leaderboard.

After entering the final day two strokes back of leader Brooks Koepka, Koepka's struggles on Sunday opened the door for Rahm, who ultimately won the day and the tournament. Par at Augusta National is 72 for the day, and 288 for the weekend.

Is Jon Rahm playing in 2024 Masters?

Despite not playing on PGA Tour, Rahm will be participating in the 2024 Masters.

Rahm defected to LIV Golf in December 2023, which led to his immediate suspension from PGA Tour events. The Masters, however, operates as an independent body, and has its own suite of rules for eligibility. One of those rules is automatic tournament participation for life thanks to his 2023 victory.

Rahm isn't the only golfer from LIV who is eligible. Other LIV golfers who will be in field include Koepka, Joaquin Niemann, Cameron Smith, and Mickelson, among others.

Why did Jon Rahm join LIV Golf?

Rahm, who decried LIV Golf upon the breakout league's inception, joined the Saudi-backed league on Dec. 7, 2023.

"To be honest, part of the (LIV) format is not really appealing to me," Rahm said in 2022, per NBC Sports . "Shotgun three days to me is not a golf tournament, no cut. It’s that simple. I want to play against the best in the world in a format that’s been going on for hundreds of years. That’s what I want to see."

Upon joining LIV, Rahm has performed an about-face.

“I’d say there was two instances," Rahm said of his change of heart on GOLF.com's "Breakthrough." "I think dynamics started to change and there was a lot of division at that time. And yes, for me to want to change, there had to be reasons beyond the money, right? So when I said that I fully meant it and it was true. Now, when they slap you with a large amount of money in your face, your feelings do change. I try not to be a materialistic person, but I do owe it to my family as well to set them up for success the best I can, and having kids I think changed that quite a bit. So the money is a part of it; I’m not going to lie. But again, when I said that I wasn’t fully aware of what I was saying because you don’t really understand.”

In summation, the move largely came down to money.

The Par 3 Contest at the Masters has been a Wednesday tradition dating back to 1960 with the inaugural competition won by Sam Snead. Tournament participants as well as all past champions are invited to play the nine-hole course designed by George Cobb and Cliff Roberts which is set around DeSoto Springs Pond and Ike's Pond. In the tournament's history, there have been 107 holes-in-one made, including a record nine in 2016. Five holes-in-one were made in 2023, including two by Seamus Power (Nos. 8 and 9). No Par 3 Contest winner has won the Masters the same year as his short-course victory.

The best golfers in the world have once again converged at Augusta National Golf Club in search of the coveted green jacket. This is the 88th edition of the annual Masters Tournament , so will we see a brand new winner or will one of the 18 former winners playing in this year's tournament claim the championship yet again?

Day 1 proved to be exhilarating. Not only did we see the early tournament favorite, Scottie Scheffler , prove why so many people were backing him to win, but a few dark horses emerged as well. LIV's Bryson DeChambeau leads the entire field after Day 1, shooting 7-under par on Thursday. Other golfers who weren't given great odds to start the tournament like Danny Willet (-5) and Nicolai Højgaard (-4) also played some incredible rounds. Even Tiger Woods had some great moments and moves into Day 2 ranking inside the top-20 at 1-under.

Three more days are left in this year's tournament, with one round played each day. The cut will happen after Day 2, and only the top-50 players on the leaderboard will advance into Saturday and Sunday. It's unforgiving, but what else can you expect from a tournament as heralded as The Masters.

Taylor Swift officially landed on Forbes’ billionaires list on Tuesday, April 2. But what distinguishes the 34-year-old singer-songwriter from other wealthy artists is how she accumulated her billion-dollar fortune.

The Miss Americana star ranked No. 2,545 on Forbes’ World’s Billionaires List . According to Forbes , there are more billionaires than ever before (141 more than last year and 26 more than the 2021 record), with their collective worth reaching $14.2 trillion. Swift’s inclusion comes after Forbes declared the singer a billionaire in October 2023 and reported her net worth at $1.1 billion.

In a rare feat, Swift is the first musician to reach the milestone solely from songwriting and performing. Her fortune doesn’t largely derive from profitable side hustles (think: beauty brands, fashion lines, alcohol investments, etc.), which have been typical avenues for entertainers to become billionaires in recent years. This puts her in a unique category with artists like Bruce Springsteen, who earned $1 billion from on the road touring.

More than $500 million of Swift’s fortune is from music royalties and touring. She made an estimated $190 million after taxes from the first leg of the Eras tour and another $35 million from the first two weeks of screenings of the corresponding concert film, Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour , which became the highest-grossing concert movie in history.

Meanwhile, another $500 million of her earnings came from the increasing value of her music catalog. Her masters (Swift’s first six albums) were infamously purchased in 2019 by Scooter Braun and eventually sold to Shamrock Capital for $300 million in 2020.

“This is my worst case scenario. This is what happens when you sign a deal at fifteen to someone for whom the term ‘loyalty’ is clearly just a contractual concept,” Swift penned on Tumblr in 2019 when she learned that Braun had bought her masters. “Now Scooter has stripped me of my life’s work, that I wasn’t given an opportunity to buy. Essentially, my musical legacy is about to lie in the hands of someone who tried to dismantle it.”

At the time, Swift also parted ways with her long-time home, Big Machine Label Group, to join Universal Music Group’s Republic Records, a deal that would give the superstar complete ownership over songwriting and the recordings, ultimately boosting her earnings in the long run.

"I'm ecstatic to announce that my musical home will be Republic Records and Universal Music Group," Swift wrote on Instagram about the news. "Over the years, [UMG chief] Sir Lucian Grainge and [Republic chief] Monte Lipman have been such incredible partners. It's so thrilling to me that they, and the UMG team, will be my label family moving forward. It's also incredibly exciting to know that I'll own all of my master recordings that I make from now on."

Since switching labels, Swift has released four new albums, Lover, Folklore, Evermore and Midnights, and re-recorded Fearless (Taylor’s Version), Red (Taylor’s Version), Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) and 1989 (Taylor’s Version ). Swift’s the sole writer on over one-fourth of her top 50 Billboard chart hits, although she frequently shares writing credits with collaborators like Jack Antonoff and Max Martin, who also get a portion of a record sale.

On April 19, the pop star will release her 11th studio album, The Tortured Poets Department, which will also add to her massive earnings. Swift announced the new record during her Album of the Year win acceptance speech at the 2024 Grammy Awards in February.

While becoming a billionaire, the singer made a huge monetary impact on the NFL. Swift created a brand value equivalent of $331.5 million for the Chiefs and the league, according to data from Apex Marketing Group . That number comes from print, digital, radio, TV, highlights, and social media mentioning Swift from her first game on Sept. 24 to Jan. 22.

One of Swift’s many accomplishments from last year also includes being named Time Magazine’s 2023 Person of the Year. In her interview with journalist Sam Lansky, Swift told the magazine that “this is the proudest and happiest I’ve ever felt, and the most creatively fulfilled and free I’ve ever been.”

The first major tournament of the year started on Thursday, and nearly 90 players were at the Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia to contend for a highly sought-after green jacket. Thirteen of them are LIV golfers.

Spanish golfer, LIV participant and 2023 Masters champion Jon Rahm will be looking to become the fourth golfer in Masters history to win back-to-back jackets and the first since Tiger Woods in 2001-02.

Several other LIV golfers likely will be in contention for a Masters win by the end of the weekend as well, with Brooks Koepka, Dustin Johnson and up-and-comer Joaquín Niemann also among favorites.

Though it's red-hot American (and non-LIV golfer) Scottie Scheffler who wass the early favorite after winning his second consecutive Players Championship last month. He also won this year's Arnold Palmer Invitational just one week before his Players win. Scheffler played remarkably well on Day 1 as well, shooting 6-under on Day 1. Still, he sits in second place heading into Friday as LIV's Bryson DeChambeau leads all golfers at 7-under after Thursday.
