With Apple’s ever-turning game of unsigning older firmware to prevent downgrades to jailbreakable firmware, jailbreakers are forever wondering what the best strategy is for their device.

Should existing jailbreakers stick with their jailbroken firmware, or should they upgrade? If they’re already without a jailbreak, then which firmware version should they be on to get one? What should they do to upgrade from an older jailbroken firmware?

In this article, we discuss the best options for every device and firmware version so that you can make an informed decision.

Navigate to the section corresponding to the firmware version on your device and find the sub-section that refers to your device type. You may need to know whether your device is 64-bit or 32-bit, as well as what generation chip your device has (e.g. iPhone X is has an A11 chip). A quick internet search will give you those details.

Remember that these are recommendations based on current information. Information changes from one day to another, so it’s a good idea to check back frequently for up-to-date details. For legacy firmware, check out our more general introduction to jailbreaking.

64-bit devices You can jailbreak with Pangu9. If you like, you can stay on 9.0-9.0.2, and live long and prosper with your jailbreak.

A9 (iPhone 6s & 6s Plus) and iPad mini 4 Devices with an A9 chip and iPad mini 4 users who are content with a semi-tethered jailbreak have the option to jailbreak with checkra1n. See iOS & iPadOS 14.0-current instructions above for more details.

A7-A8 (iPhone 5s – iPhone 6(+)) excluding the iPad mini 4 Devices with an A7-A8 chip, except for  the iPad mini 4 also have the option to update to iOS 12.5.1 and jailbreak there with Chimera instead. See iOS 12.4.9-12.5.1 instructions above for more details.

32-bit You can jailbreak already with Pangu9!

If you want to be on the highest possible firmware that’s untetherable and you have blobs for iOS 9.1-9.3.4, you can  upgrade to any of them and then jailbreak with Home Depot. Untether that jailbreak with UntetherHomeDepot !

Alternatively, if your device handles iOS 10 well and you want its features and fixes, upgrade to iOS 10.3.3 and jailbreak semi-untethered with  tihmstar’s h3lix tool for iOS 10.x .

64-bit devices You’re out of luck; there’s no jailbreak for this firmware, and no apparent interest in making one. You have the option to update to iOS 12.5.1 and jailbreak with Chimera. See iOS 12.4.9-12.5.1 instructions above for more details.

32-bit devices Jailbreak now with tihmstar’s EtasonJB for iOS 8.4.1 !

If you have blobs for iOS 9.0-9.3.4, you can  upgrade to any of them  by jailbreaking with EtasonJB and using futurerestore.

If you only have blobs for iOS 9.3.5, you can  upgrade to that and use tihmstar and siguza’s Phœnix tool to jailbreak your device semi-untethered.

64-bit devices You can jailbreak already, with various tools, depending on your firmware version. If you don’t mind the considerable compatibility problems you’ll be experiencing by now and love solid, untethered jailbreaks, stay where you are. You also have the option to update to iOS 12.5.1 and jailbreak there with Chimera instead. See iOS 12.4.9-12.5.1 instructions above for more details.

32-bit You have options. You can jailbreak already, with various tools, depending on your firmware version.

Otherwise, if you have iOS 9 blobs and want to upgrade for better compatibility, you can  upgrade to any iOS 9 firmware  and then jailbreak with either Pangu (9.0-9.0.2), Home Depot (9.1-9.3.4), or Phœnix (9.3.5).

Upgrading to Phœnix (9.3.5) will be swapping an untethered for a semi-untethered jailbreak however, so you’ll have to choose between a newer iOS with better app support and an untethered jailbreak, unless you go with 9.0-9.3.4.

Whilst checkra1n should support this and all future tvOS versions, Apple appears to have patched something to make life difficult. Jailbreaking these firmwares is currently not working, though this may be fixed in the future.

tvOS 13.4.8-14.4

Jailbreak now with checkra1n! As always, all users should  block updates and not update.  Start saving blobs with TSS Saver  for all current and future firmwares.

Using checkra1n on Apple TV 4K requires a costly and difficult hardware modification to provide USB access to the device, but is possible. Apple TV 4 does not require this. For users unable or unwilling to make this modification, downgrade your Apple TV 4K to the lowest signed firmware and wait for a sideloadable tool which does not need USB access, as seen in the past.

tvOS 11.0-13.4.5

Jailbreak now with unc0verTV!

Do not update your firmware!  Block updates  and start saving blobs with TSS Saver for all current and future firmwares.

tvOS 10.2.2

Jailbreak now with backr00m! As an added bonus, if you have previously saved blobs for tvOS 13 you can use futurerestore to jump from tvOS 10.2.2 up to tvOS 13-13.4.5. Then follow the instructions above for tvOS 11.0-13.4.5. If you can’t go the futurerestore route because you didn’t save tvOS 13 blobs, and you’d prefer tvOS 14 features to a jailbreak, then upgrade to the lowest currently signed tvOS 14.x version and wait there instead. As always, all users should  block updates and not update.  Start saving blobs with TSS Saver  for all current and future firmwares.

tvOS 9.0-10.2.1

Restore immediately to tvOS 10.2.2 . Jailbreak there with  backr00m! As an added bonus, if you have previously saved blobs for tvOS 13 you can use futurerestore to jump from tvOS 10.2.2 up to tvOS 13-13.4.5. Then follow the instructions above for tvOS 11.0-13.4.5. If you can’t go the futurerestore route because you didn’t save tvOS 13 blobs, and you’d prefer tvOS 14 features to a jailbreak, then upgrade to the lowest currently signed tvOS 14.x version and wait there instead. As always, all users should  block updates and not update.  Start saving blobs with TSS Saver  for all current and future firmwares.

You can jailbreak with EtasonATV on iOS 7.4 (sometimes confusingly called iOS 8.4.3 (12H885)) only.

Update to iOS 6.2.1 (sometimes confusingly called iOS 7.1.2) and use SeasonPass.

There are a couple of developer-only tools which saw preliminary work. However, no public tools exist for anything newer than the Apple Watch Series 3, and nothing for firmwares newer than watchOS 4.1. As far as general users are concerned, no viable tools exist.

These jailbreaks are developer-only and have no applications for the average user. They do not support tweaks nor any of the other features associated with a consumer jailbreak. However, in the interest of completeness, audioOS 13.2.1-14.4 on the HomePod (not mini) can be jailbroken with checkra1n. Versions of bridgeOS running on the T2 chip (the secure chip which handles security and Touch Bar support on newer Macs) can also be jailbroken using checkra1n.

All that is left to say is that regardless of device, current firmware version, model, or happiness with your current setup,  save blobs for all firmware versions from now on. They open up more options in this guide, and they might allow you to jailbreak in the future too. Do not wait until it’s too late to find out their uses. We’ve seen futurerestore , as well as a jailbreak-less iOS 9.x downgrade tool for 32-bit and another 32-bit downgrader with Odysseus functionality . All require blobs, which people kept saying were useless. Developers of these tools have always advised you to save blobs as they can come in handy, and they’re right.

For most devices, .shsh2 blobs can be saved with TSS Saver in a matter of moments. Devices with an A12, A12X, or newer chip (iPhone XS and above), must follow a slightly more involved process to save valid blobs.

Remember, blobs can only be saved for an iOS version while that version is signed by Apple. You do not have to actually have your device on the iOS version to save blobs for it, it just needs to be currently signed. Get saving!

That just about wraps it up. Is JB Values 100% accurate?

Although it is impossible for a value list to be 100% accurate, as the market is constantly changing and is subjective to each trader, our team works extremely hard to provide you with the most accurate information possible.

How often is JB Values updated?

Submissions are created daily, and values are updated based off them every 6 minutes. While there will always be delays as we research changes prior to rolling them out, our goal is to update you on them as soon as possible.

In August 2022, the Cargo Train received a brand new look and a longer route that passes through Crater City . The train varies in length (10-20 cars) hauled by a pair of yellow diesel locomotives, which resembles the livery of Union Pacific . It travels around most of the map along the track, then disappears into Train Tunnel 3 after passing the Mini Train Station . The cars the Cargo Train pulls changes after each train. For example, the Cargo Train may have 3 boxcars one time, and only one the next. It is operated by a silhouette of maplestick , one of the designers for some of the early vehicle textures . Following the revamp, it is now operated by the third developer CritStyx .

The Cargo Train first comes out of the tunnel in Crater City , then passes through multiple locations like the Casino and Train Tunnel 4. Depending on how the train switch is configured, it will either stop briefly at the Train Station , or instead make a slight right turn and follow the tracks leading to the Rising City Police Station and the Military Base 's original spot. The tracks will merge at the Tesla chargers near the Jewelry Store and right before Train Tunnel 2. It will follow along to the Rising City Criminal Base , cross the bridge, pass the Mini Train Station , and will despawn when it reaches Train Tunnel 3.

In the Fall 2023 Update , the Cargo Train now spawns inside the map alongside the Cargo Ship and the Tomb with the new robbery open system.

Making contact with the train at the front will instantly kill the player

Robbing Procedure

The Cargo Train is one of the easiest heists in Jailbreak . It is important to note that you have approximately two minutes to rob the Cargo Train (3 minutes when diverted to the Train Station and became stationary there before continuing on) and you will teleport out if you don't escape in time.

When the Cargo Train has spawned, find a red boxcar. Open the top door, breach the vault and stand inside to collect the money. As of the September 2022 update, some lasers, if any, need to be avoided as well, depending on the boxcar variant. There are currently four boxcar variants.

An alternative way is to go on the roof of the tunnel where the Cargo Train first comes out of; if criminals climb the nearby mountain, they can stand on top the tunnel and wait for the Cargo Train to come. Once it does, jump onto it as soon as the yellow locomotives exit the tunnel or when a red boxcar appears.

• Using an air vehicle is recommended, as criminals can fly over the Cargo Train and drop onto the red boxcar easily.
• Jump onto a flatcar with a blue crate on top, and get onto the Cargo Train that way.
• Use a Jetpack to get on top, but be careful not to ragdoll off, or you might fall off the train or even under it.

Before the Cargo Train reaches the end of the track, exit through the boxcar's side door and escape.

If the criminal did not exit before reaching the Cargo Train's route, they will teleport to the Mini Train Station and they will automatically collect the cash that they did collect.

Tips/Tricks

• The Cargo Train is one of the safest heists in Jailbreak , as Police usually don't camp this location, as it moves.
• Make sure not to touch the front of the train, as it can instantly kill players.
• Before exiting, check where you are. Ideally, you would like to get off near Crater City or Rising City , as you would be near robberies & heists , gun stores , and garages . However, if there is a specific robbery that's open and is near the train tracks, you should get off there.

Robbery Payout

If the criminal successfully robs the Cargo Train to the maximum amount of money, they can earn up to:

Initially, the Cargo Train gave 200 XP per boxcar robbed. Seeing how players can rob the Cargo Train multiple times depending on the cars that spawn and the skill of the player, the developers figured out that the XP Payout for the Cargo Train could be abused. After around 24 hours, the developers of the game decided to bring the XP per boxcar down to 80, as a way to reel back in on the abuse. However, after the City/Weapons update, the XP payout for the Cargo Train was increased to 150 XP after players can only rob one red boxcar per Cargo Train.

Since the introduction of Season 1: New Beginnings , robberies do not give players XP, as Contracts are the only way to earn XP. One of the criminal contracts requires players to rob the Cargo Train and Passenger Train without dying. Another criminal contract requires the player to rob any train 5 times.

• "The Cargo Train, Tomb, and Cargo Ship will open next. BOSS's learn this before everyone else!" (Notifies the player who has the BOSS Gamepass)

• This is most likely due to the developers going above and beyond the Roblox physics at that time.
• Now however, all the glitches have been patched.
• Following the revamp, the train is still a Union Pacific, though the train model is now based on a EMD SD9043MAC locomotive.
• asimo3089 also added a function where there were no red carts on the Cargo Train. When replying to a tweet, he says "This isn't a bug. You can't rob all Cargo Trains".
• However this was removed in an unknown update
• There is a glitch where players can receive money on top of the boxcar or next to it, which is used in the team robbing method.
• If you drive a vehicle headfirst into the Train you will die whenever you exit the vehicle.
• No vehicle in the game can stop the Cargo Train from reaching its destination. If too many vehicles are in front of the Cargo Train, then the server will crash, kicking everybody out.
• Parking a Helicopter in front of the tunnel adjacent to the City Criminal Base will glitch out the Cargo Train, causing the engines and the first train cars to fly straight up, but will reset and continue, glitching out the Helicopter as well and sometimes even pushing the Helicopter under the map. This was patched in the Cargo Train Patch Update.
• During the Ready Player One Event, the first red boxcar contained a lockbox. Badimo did not remove the lockbox after the Ready Player One Event was over. Back then, since that was before the Cargo Train Patch Update, Cargo Trains were short and usually only had one red boxcar, meaning most Cargo Trains were impossible to rob as if there was only one red boxcar, there would only be a lockbox, and players couldn't collect. Many complained, so Badimo managed to remove the lockbox in the 1 Year Update .
• When players breach the vault of the red boxcar and are standing close to it, they can be flung towards the back of the boxcar. This can be fixed by quickly running backwards once it blows, or breaching the vault while standing on top of the boxcar.
• In the 2018 Fall Update , the blue cart was transformed into it carrying 4 "Pumpkin Spice" coffee cups with asimo3089 and badcc waving as a logo. It also changed the appearance of some carts, such as the coal cart now carried leaves, the oil tank turned orange, the flatcar lost its blue boxes and had blocks of ice, the oil car turned blue, and snow was on top of the red boxcar.
• There was a Roblox glitch that allows you to easily exit a red boxcar. Simply hold the top of the window and your Roblox game will freeze, allowing the Cargo Train to pass by you. This glitch only worked on Windows computers, as you can not use this glitch on mobile, console, or Mac computers. This glitch has been patched as part of the Passenger Train Update.
• As of the City/Guns update, the Cargo Train is now able to also stop at the Train Station but won't give any cash until it's moving again.
• This was changed when said train tunnel became unused and the spawn moved to crater city.
• If a player uses an aerial vehicle and fly it above the train, it will move along with the train even if the player isn't moving the aerial vehicle. Anything that is on or near the cargo train moves along with it. This is how you can jump from one car to the next easily on the Cargo Train.
• Possibly as a part of the "cryptic puzzle" mini-event going on outside of Jailbreak , the Maplestick decal has weirdly been removed from the Cargo Train. It is unknown if it will return or not.
• In the Roblox game, Rails Unlimited , the old model of the Cargo Train can be driven after purchasing the Breakout Express gamepass in the game. It was used with permission from Badimo .
• After a certain update, the gold bars in the train were made solid and cannot be passed through, whereas before it wasn't solid and you can walk through it.
• The train easter egg looks very similar to this train but it was removed.
• This was later patched.
• The Cargo Train is sometimes referred to as a moving Bank vault if you have the Bigger Duffel Bag gamepass. Coincidentally, to finish both robberies, you only need to exit it.
• This has been seen with the Passenger Train as well.
• Sometimes a glitched Cargo Plane appears at this location as well.
• This glitch usually happens when players have low internet.
• There is a glitch where if a player is collecting money inside the train and there is something in the way of the train, the obstruction will clip through the train, knocking everyone collecting money in the train's red boxcar out of the vault and ending their robberies.
• A glitch occurs when using a Jetpack in this robbery, as the player may glitch through the train cars. If the player glitches into the vault of a train car, then will be unable to open it from the inside. The player can just glitch out using the Jetpack.
• This has been spotted on videos by various Jailbreak YouTubers.
• The vault cannot be breached before the door is opened, despite the E prompt showing up on the roof of the train.
• After 2023 Fall Update, Cargo Train has been classified to Robbery Group D, opening along with Cargo Ship and the Tomb .

• The Cargo Train is the first moving heist to be added into Jailbreak , before the Passenger Train , Cargo Plane , Cargo Ship , and the Bank Truck .
• The Cargo Train is the first cargo-related robbery to be added, followed by the Cargo Plane and Cargo Ship .
