15 Things to Know About Victory Casino Cruises Before You Sail

Want to go try your luck spinning the slot machines, throwing the dice, or trying to get blackjack? If you’re in central Florida, one of the most popular choices to gamble is Victory Casino Cruises . Departing daily from Port Canaveral, the boat heads out beyond state waters where it is legal to play casino games.

If you’ve never sailed on the gambling boat, there are quite a few things you might want to know before you book your spot. We recently sailed on the casino cruise and have everything you need to know.

Billboard for Victory Casino Cruise

It’s $13 Per Person to Sail

Most casinos are happy to let you in the doors for free. Victory charges passengers $13 per person to board. You can book your tickets ahead of time on the cruise line’s website. As well, many regular players who are members of the casino’s players club can get free boarding vouchers for their play. You can also just show up and book your spot to board at the terminal.

The Gambling Age is 18 Years Old

Head to Las Vegas and you have to be 21 to gamble. On the ship, however, you only need to be 18 to board and gamble. No one under 18 is allowed. If you want to drink on the ship you will still need to be 21 years old, like on land.

Victory Casino Cruise ship

Trips Sail 7 Days a Week, Twice Daily

While the departure and arrival times may vary slightly, there is a morning and an evening cruise seven days a week. Most morning cruises depart at 11 a.m. and get back at 4:15 p.m. Most evening cruises leave at 7 p.m. and get back at 12:30 a.m. Sunday cruises depart at noon and return at 6 p.m., while Friday and Saturday night cruises leave at 7 p.m. and get back at 1 a.m.

If You Book Online You Can Skip the Line

As we said, the entry fee for the ship is $13 per person, and you can book your ticket online. One of the advantages of booking early is that you can skip the line that most people stand in to get their tickets. Instead, when you arrive, just enter the terminal and head to the left to the security metal detectors. It can save you a lot of time on boarding.

The Ship Has Four Decks, With Gambling on Each

The Victory has four decks, and each has a different purpose and feel. Deck 1 features the ship’s buffet and ala carte restaurant. As well, there are sports betting terminals here where you can bet on nearly any sport you can think of.

Deck 2 features slot machines, video poker, and table games. Deck 3 is the “Slot Atrium” with nothing but slot machines spanning the entire length of the ship. Deck 4 features the ship’s nightclub, lined with slot machines. There is also an outdoor bar on the back of the ship.

Victory Casino Cruise gaming floor

Tables Games Options Are Impressive Considering the Size of the Ship

You might think that a casino boat would only have a few table games. In fact, the Victory has an impressive variety of games. There are several craps tables (the only ones in Florida), roulette, blackjack, baccarat, Let It Ride, Ultimate Texas Hold ‘Em, and more. There are also electronic roulette machines (a real wheel but betting terminals) and even bingo. If you don’t want to play slots or video poker, there is plenty for you to do. All told there are 27 tables. Note that there is no live poker.

It Takes About 45 Minutes of Sailing Until You Can Play

Due to state laws, it’s not legal for gaming until the ship reaches three miles from the shore. That means for the first part of the trip — and again when the ship comes back in — you can hang out on the deck or grab a bite to eat, but you can’t play. The trip out to sea takes roughly 45 minutes until reaching the 3-mile mark. There will be an announcement that gaming is now open.

The Ship Is a Fantastic Vantage Point to Watch Rocket Launches

Sailing from Port Canaveral, the channel from the port is literally right next to the Kennedy Space Center. Rocket launches draws tons of people to the area, and finding a spot to watch the launch can cost money and mean fighting for a spot. However, the ship heads just a few miles out to sea offering a fantastic vantage point with no obstructions like buildings in the way. It’s the perfect spot to have some fun and head to Deck 4 to watch a launch if it goes up while on your cruise.

Slot machines on Victory Casino cruise

Limits Are Usually Low

Are you a low-stakes gambler? Good news, you’ll fit right in on the Victory Casino Cruise. With 600 slot machines, penny slots are plentiful, as are quarter video poker machines. During our cruise — which wasn’t very busy — we saw multiple tables with $5 minimums. The highest minimum we saw was one table at $15. Bottom line, you don’t have to bring a huge bankroll to have some fun.

The Ship Could Use Some Updating

If your experience gambling involves the big swanky hotels in Las Vegas or similar venues, then you should temper your expectations. The Victory casino ship is a bit worn and could use some updating. Things like worn carpet are common and in general the furnishings show some age. There is also a bit of rust and wear on spots around the ship itself.

Terminal

Parking is Free

Many people drive to the terminal and the good news is that parking is free. While parking for a regular cruise is around $20 per day, the casino cruise doesn’t charge. You can park across the street from the terminal and walk right to the check-in area and the ship. It makes it extremely convenient for those coming to the casino by car.

The Terminal is at the End of the Port Complex

Need a little help in finding where to go? There are abundant signs pointing the direction, but the port is at the end of the Canaveral cruise complex, close to the beach. We’ve labeled the map below to give you a sense of where to go:

Map of Victory Cruise Terminal

Transportation Is Available

Don’t want to drive to the port? You’re in luck. Victory has a number of bus routes that will pick you up all over the central Florida area. This includes everywhere from Ocala to The Villages, to Vero Beach to Palm Coast. Rides are also affordable at just $20. Call the company to arrange your spot on the bus.

Get $5 Freeplay with a New Card and Email Address

Want a little freeplay to start your day at the casino? Sign up for the casino card when you get on the ship. It’s completely free and when you track your play on the machines and at the table with the card, you can get casino offers. If you provide your email address when you sign up, you also get $5 freeplay to use on the machines.

Victory Casino Cruise deck 4

Drinks Are Free When Playing

Want to have a drink or two while you try your luck? There is drink service from waitresses that roam the casino floor. Drink service is free while you play (be sure to tip). If you want something from the bar, you will have to pay for that. There is coffee and soda available on Deck 1 if you want to sip something non-alcoholic.

Our Thoughts of the Victory Casino Cruise

As mentioned above, we recently sailed aboard the ship to check it out. So what is our impression of it?

In general, we had a good time. Our cruise on a Monday night didn’t have many people, meaning it was easy to find a place to play without having to fight for a spot at a table or a machine. It was also extremely easy to drive right up to the terminal, park, and board.

We found the machines to be “loose” and came out ahead on our cruise. Slot machines consistently gave good play, even when we ended up losing. Video poker machines were either 7/5 or 6/5 (be sure to check the pay tables to find the best for you), which does leave something to be desired. One thing that stuck out to us was that nearly every game you can think of was available on the ship. Normally smaller casinos offer only some games you might find at a larger venue.

Our biggest complaint is that the ship is definitely in need of some updating. As mentioned above, it definitely shows its age. Wear and tear are evident in many places. Keeping any ship in tip-top shape is difficult given the salt and the sea, so we understand. Still, it would be nice to have a more updated casino to play.

Overall, if you are in the central Florida area the Victory Casino ship is a fun way to spend a few hours… and hopefully make some money.

Is there a nonsmoking area to play and eat?

This article is old. The table minimums are much higher now and the experience has deteriorated. I would recommend searching for updated info.

I dont see anything about activities for those who come along but dont gamble. Is there swimming or anything else to do? Whats the menu. I dont see anything on the website it only mentions a la cart. If someone gets motion sickness at times how does this compare to the normal cruise ships? Thanks

It’s a casino cruise, so there isn’t much to do other than gamble. There is some outdoor seating and a musician sometimes plays. As for motion sickness, this is a much smaller ship than a cruise ship, so you’ll feel the ocean more if there are waves.

Hello and thanks for an outstanding article! My husband has an itch for casinos and I have one for the water. We’ve been pondering a casino cruise for some time. What airport would we fly into from Phoenix Sky Harbor? What hotels are near the ship? Thanks!

Hi, I’d like some information for transportation from The villages to your location. Thanks Bob

Bob, Cruzely is not the cruise line. You can find more info about their transportation options here:

https://victorycasinocruises.com/transportation/

Is there spots open for next week…my daughter is coming for the week thought this would be fun. So the whole expense for this is $ 28.00 cause we will drive to cruises ship. And we have a coupon for the $28.00 dollars…if I could have someone email me back soon…

Lori — we aren’t the cruise line. You’ll want to contact them directly.

i love gambling on this ship. Its clean, everyone is friendly. i have no complaints, only praises

Have a group of Seniors in Kissimmee that would like to go on the Victory Cruise again. We have gone before, but am not sure if you still have representatives that will work with us? How many people do we have to have for a bus to come in our Manufactured Home Park and transport us to the ship? And what would be the cost?

Eleanor, Cruzely is not affiliate with Victory Casino. You’ll want to contact the company directly to ask.

What if I don’t want to play any game, just enjoying the trip. Is that possible? I mean I only want to enjoy the sea view and some music maybe

Sure. There’s no rule that you have to gamble!

How long does it take to get ocean card? I did have it and was working for the elite. But then had to help friends in Alaska and was gone 3 years. Had to start over when I came back which I understood. But do they still have 3 players cards.

How long is the ship?

Looks to be about 300 feet long.

We sailed on the a.m cruise on St. Patty’s day! Absolutly horrible!!!! They over booked! It was sooo crowded you could not find a machine to play!!! We come often, but this was the worst of the worst! Should of stayed home!!! What were they thinking besides money! No 6 foot distancing here.

My fiancée and i went on the sunday day cruise . Nice boat and cruise . Boat is not huge . Older crowd wich is fine . If you dont gamble This probably wont be a good thing. There are no other activities . Besides sitting and watching the ocean. We did well playing Slots and blackjack . There is probably a different vibe on the evening cruise . As i saw They had a dance floor amd dj area . Not operating in daytime . Restrooms and Common areas clean . It is a older vessel Groupon has discounted tickets .

It used to be fun. Then COVID happened and everything changed and went downhill. Food used to be delicious. I was served a greasy cod fish sandwich on a stale roll. My husband's Philly cheesesteak sandwich had spices on it that had no business being cooked with it. How can anyone mess up a cheesesteak? The fountain drinks - self-serve - tasted like they outlived their expiration dates. Getting a good cup of coffee was also impossible. We used to be able to order food from the bar on the 4th deck and enjoy our meals outside while cruising back to the port. Not anymore. Now players are confined to eat their food indoors on the first deck, while sitting under freezing A/C vents. Overall, the experiences from Victory made me drive the extra hour to Tampa and play at the Hard Rock Casino. If it wasn't for the hardworking staff, we would've gone to Tampa a lot sooner.

My BF and I went here for the first time last night. It was our first time gambling, and didn't really know what we were doing. One of the dealers, Gino (from the UK) was extremely helpful and patient with us. He helped us learn how to play BlackJack, and we had a great time?

The Victory Casino Cruise gets a bad rap because very few accept the fact that the casino has a statistical probability against you winning. Go with the intention of having a fun afternoon gaming and if you win ...great. Remember to Set a limit and pace yourself. The boat went out to sea at 10am and returned at 4pm. We started out finding seats in the open air deck area and enjoying the live music. 45 minutes in you can start gambling. On the way back you stop gambling about 45 minutes before docking. We spent that time listening to an entertainer that played excellent music and was skilled at getting people on the dance floor. The food was mediocre/poor quality to me but many others loved it. The full priced drinks are superior to the free drinks and the blackjack table is hands down the best experience.

Punch

The ocean was rough sailing on my day and had to sign a waiver. Staff was great, drinks relatively cheap, and the food was good. Had trouble activating my free slot play but the attendants guided me through the process. Slots and VP were super tight. and the customers were mostly crusty old curmudgeons, some of whom reserved machines with their players card while not seated (even though it's not allowed). Didn't do any of the tables but not a lot were open due to low attendance. Go with friends and have fun regardless.

This was a bad casino cruise. The boat was rocking way too much when it was parked. The food is fake: like I ordered a burger and it wasn't real beef or meat. Literally all the machines are the same, the slot machines are programmed to take all your money. The employees have quite an attitude if you ask them a question. Mainly Caucasian audience, but there was different cultures on the boat so why not play a mix of music. The bathrooms are nasty, you will feel extremely exhausted and just wanna go home after 2 hours. Do not go to this boat unless you know how to play in a casino or have friends that can show you and if you're okay with getting sick. The only highlight was seeing NASA launch a rocket

Have not been on this casino cruise since before Covid hit. Before the pandemic, they had a buffet that was great and worth getting the Groupon. You had the two well drinks, the buffet and $10 credit for the slots or what you wanted to use it for. Now.... no buffet... you get an option of "a la carte" which means, a burger, a sandwich, quesadilla, wings or a salad. Actually, it's not too bad. I had the wings which were pretty big and came with with 3 pieces of celery and my choice of ranch or blue cheese. My wife chose the Philly Cheesesteak and it had good amount of meat and cheese. So, for the Groupon, you get a good meal and the soft drinks and coffee are free refills during the voyage. You can purchase upgrades for your meals and the prices are moderate. We came on Memorial Day, not a normal operating day for them, but it was nice to get out. Water was choppy and the boat moved A LOT. They do warn you about that and when they are going to turn in the water. As for the casino, a lot of people love it.. depends on your "poison", but people do win money. We signed up for the bingo, but if there are not enough people signed up, they refund you your entry. Go on their website to see the special days with music or more money winning options. UPDATE: when the ship is getting close to Port, do not head for the exit. They use wristband colors to tell you when to come up to get ready to disembark. It's better to stay on deck 1 and have a soft drink or coffee while you're waiting to be called.

A fun day out with friends and family. We ate a breakfast sandwich($6) before the cruise left. After the boat goes out 3 miles the games and slot machines begin. There are 3 bars throughout the boat, including a sports bar and one outside with a DJ. $15 and $25 craps, $15 back Jack, roulette and poker games. There's a video roulette game on the same floor as the dance floor . They also have bingo and slot tournament. There's usually fun games where you can win. FreePlay and lots of specials if you call ahead and ask. For lunch there's various sandwiches and salads which are all around $12-$15 nonalcoholic drinks for free. And alcoholic drinks are free while you're gambling. So if you're in central Florida, this is a good place to go.

Well the slots are very tight. I sat at a black jack table and say next to some loud drunk people. The woman told me why don't you have a drink ( alcohol) I suppose but I said no I felt very wobbly because the boat was making me sick . I didn't want yo fall because I broke my arm and leg a year and a half ago and it took the longest time to bounce back. The food is expensive and it wasn't that good. I'm glad I left with a lot if money in my purse. Then you have to wait a ridiculously long time to board and unboard. They take people by wrist bands. Thank God my group was the first to leave. I needed wheelchair assistance but the people were very kind and I tipped them. The toilets were nasty and you couldn't flush the toilets! I WON'T be back there

Photo of Diego B.

I was mislead, and honestly it feels as if it was done with malicious intent. If not, then treated with the "well you're on the ship now." If you have a coupon that reads "$10 slot credit," to me that sounds like $10 slot credit. Attached is the coupon that I used with the fine print. Nothing on there read anything about having to spend another $40 dollars more for "8 credit points," or whatever. I was expecting to spend a good amount as everything seemed wonderful! However, after informed of that little surprise, I didn't spend another dime. One of the workers even informed me that they themselves didn't know about that fact until after a couple of months working for this company. That was pretty revolting. Taking the bad with the good, if you're weary about being on a boat then this is where to start. The captain notifies passengers via intercom every step of the way. The ship does rock around a little bit, but there are plenty of places to get fresh air. Also, they do keep it relatively cool. I believe it was 65° outside and honestly it was about the same temperature inside (*Update, found a thermostat that was locked at 50°). If you're planning on drinking, then this is a safe haven. Drinks were good, food was good, and the staff was amazing. If you're well informed prior to departure, then this spot is the place for you.

Great Lakes cruise, spring 2019

Knowing what we know now, yes we would still book this cruise. That said, there were glitches. This was the first cruise of the season; some initial food inconsistencies got fixed quickly. The contracted pier locations at the beginning and end of the cruise were pretty bad, especially the one in Chicago (pick-up cabs had difficulty accessing the facility). We did not expect an "entertainment" cruise -- it shouldn't be. The focus should be on seeing and learning. Unfortunately the outsource for the local tours was quite spotty and it seemed like some of the bus drivers hadn't been instructed on routes. There were only two local experts giving talks on the ship; we expected more. The locations themselves were very interesting and worth it all. The ship was pleasant, cabins comfortable and adequate. Food was very good and quite varied, breakfast had a buffet as well as a cooked to order option. However, the option outside of the main dining room (the Grill on topside) was mostly a repeat of main. The Grill should offer sandwich fixings and more salad (lighter stuff) at lunch rather than the same menu as below. The bar was well provisioned. We appreciated the espresso machine with cookies in the lounge (minor complaint: coffee in the restaurant was pretty wimpy). The crew was excellent and service was stellar! We stayed extra days on either end of the trip (Toronto and Chicago), and this should be offered as an option. If the glitches get worked out, this will be a 4-5 star cruise.

Great Lakes

The crew members were very accommodating. Food was good — at times, excellent; sometimes food was not great BUT - always willing to take it back so u could try something else. Would Ha e been nice to have more “snacks” available between meals. Ship was clean and nicely appointed. Rooms were comfortable. Tours were great. It was a pleasant experience all around.

Reply from Victory Cruise Lines

Hello, thanks for your review and the great suggestion! We take note of everything, our aim is to offer the very best in-depth cruise in any region we sail. Hope to see you soon.

A Gem…Excellent in Every Way

We were totally pleased with our cruise on Victory Cruise Lines. The lectures and discussion groups enhanced the excursions we had at each port. The staff was attentive and pleasant. The food was excellent. I would highly recommend Victory Cruises for travelers who want to truly understand the culture and history of the area that they are visiting.

Dan and Linda, thanks for your fantastic review. Hope to see you both soon. For more information about our upcoming voyages to Cuba and Yucatan, you can contact us at [email protected] or give us a call to 1-888 -907-2636.

I recommend this cruise!

My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed our cruise on the Great Lakes this past June/July. Smooth sailing, beautiful scenery - and a great crew! Very glad we took it - felt like a bargain for the price. I have no complaints - just a wonderful experience and praise all around. The food was excellent.

Thanks so much for your kind words, hope to see you soon! Follow us on Social Media to stay up-to-date with our company, destinations and more!

Inaugural cruise review for Victory II

We were on the inaugural cruise for Victory II from Montreal to Detroit. It was a special price and was worth every penny! there were some issues due to the newness of the ship, but the crew and staff worked overtime to correct them. The food was good and the company even better. They will be adding more local info lectures in the future and local entertainment as they took down all our suggestions. I had to go to the doctor and she was helpful and I used the spa for a massage that helped immensely. The tours were great and included in the price. Hope to take advantage of future specials.

Thanks for your comments Rona & Jary. It was a pleasure having you onboard the Victory II. Hope to see you soon in Cuba or Mexico!

Daily info on the navigation…

Daily info on the navigation route....what is being passed, interesting history, special navigation required etc. at sea day would be a great time for a talk on the river. more info on the ports and hints on “to do” options. Interesting things to see/do beyond the scheduled tours. Hop on, hop off options so those that want to spend more time at the art gallery can do so...those that want to do walking tours can do so etc. maps showing options and pick up locations Add buffet to lunch in dining room or replace lunch with a buffet. This may be a nice option for breakfast too. FOOD WAS GREAT! Have urns of coffee or brewed pots available in the lounge by 6a with to go cups for those that want to take a cup back to the room A great trip...we have recommended to others.

This was a great trip for sites and history of this region and i thoroughly enjoyed the every bit of it. It was a great experience. The crew was very nice and made every effort to make you comfortable. There appeared to be some new crew members that were not as good as others but did try hard and by the end of the trip were getting their stride. The food was average but gave a good variety and was always fresh. The rooms were not fancy, but clean and the crew did of great job of daily cleaning and bed change. The excursions were included which was great and the tour guides in each stop were well educated and informative on the history of their tour. Slower pace and relaxing. i would recommend this trip for those 50+ since not a party boat but designed for site seeing and exploration.

Great Cruise!

We did the Great Lakes cruise which is not widely offered. We are in our mid 50’s and were among the youngest on the cruise. If you love travel you will meet mostly well traveled passengers. The crew and food were very good and the port stops were interesting. The best part was that the stops are places we wanted to see but would not stay at for more than a day or so and probably would not make a special trip to see. Mackinac Island is great but it’s pretty remote. The cruise allowed us to check a lot of boxes on places we wanted to see in a relatively short amount of time while traveling in comfort.

Hello George, thanks for this awesome review! We are glad that you had a great time with us! Hope to see you again very soon.

Victory cruise to Cuba is amazing

Our trip to Cuba was simply lovely. It was our first cruise and we had waited for a small well appointed ship and Victory l was just that. The crew was amazing-thoughtful, accommodating and very personable. I would recommend this to anyone and already have!

Dear Jennifer, thank you for you positive review. We hope to see you back soon!

Everything is Included

Great itinerary...they think of and include EVERYTHING. Fellow passengers are all very interesting and well traveled. Attentive service. Nice variety for all meals. Excellent guest speakers. Comfortable cabin.

Thank you John, it was great to have you on-board. Hope to see you back on our Yucatan or Great Lakes / Canada trips!

This cruise was good

This cruise was very good. The rooms were passable with a shower so tiny that a big man would touch all sides of the space.....but you can manage. The service was excellent and the food was very good. Some of the excursions were very good and some were a waste of time. On one island we traveled by bus for 30 minutes to a curio and craft shop.....very bad. Do not do the arranged tour of Toronto. They stopped at 3 retail outlets and missed almost everything about Toronto that is wonderfull. We did a hop-on-hop-off tour the next day that was much better.

Viva Victory Viva Cuba 🇨🇺

With such an interesting new destination anticipation was perhaps too high The lectures aboard were very interesting English professor and Cuban Lecturers were both good offering different viewpoints Excellent presentation on Bay of Pigs and Cuban missile crisis Cuba itself was very interesting Great people Art Music and Culture Onboard entertainment needs help I love Lucy reruns insulting to everyone’s intelligence as was too much trivial trivia however the musical duo were great Enjoyed the Piano Bar and always friendly helpful and accommodating on the tours and cocktail parties Too many announcements from an inexperienced Cruise Director who kept telling us he was a Jet Blue Airlines attendant ! Upgrade to a bilingual leader Great entertainment by all the Musical groups ashore especially Buena Vista Social Club Most shoreside lunches were fine at the local restaurants and Paladars except at Trinidad Coffee plantation food options were poor and seating not well organized Havana was great superior to other ports definitely a Winner Some tours were far too long for us Break them into optional morning and afternoon trips Allow more free time on overnight stops I don’t need quite so much propaganda from tour guides but generally most werevery good Onboard food was superb room service and Hotel staff were all very friendly efficient and pleasant making it feel like home Captain and Hotel Director were outstanding Cuba is a great destination I’m sure once they improve onboard entertainment with a more experienced expedition leader it will greatly add to the voyage!

Bible in Alaska

Join this exceptional Christian Cruise to Alaska with Pathway to Victory and Dr. Robert Jeffress

A note from robert jeffress.

Dear Friends,

Imagine waking up every morning to the spectacular scenery of snow-capped mountains and filling your days with uplifting worship and powerful Bible studies. Imagine exploring the wonder of God’s creations as you spot magnificent glaciers and awe-inspiring wildlife like humpback whales, bald eagles and grizzly bears. I invite you to share these incredible experiences with me and the Pathway to Victory family as we cruise through majestic Alaska June 15 – 22, 2024.

Over the years, I have become passionate about purposeful travel—gathering with friends and family to seek God in places that proclaim His power and glory. Fellowshipping and praying with other believers in the beauty of God’s Creation, away from the routines of our day-to-day lives. These experiences fill my heart with joy and connect me with Him in a profound way.

We will chart our adventure aboard the luxurious Holland America’s Koningsdam, which will take us to charming Alaskan ports like Juneau and Ketchikan—historic destinations renowned for their scenery, delicious food, and friendly locals. And even though our trip will immerse us in an unforgettable and wild landscape, the beauty is only a faint reflection of the One who created it. I know He has so much planned for us as we seek Him together in these awe-inspiring settings.

I can’t imagine a more spiritually fulfilling way to “get away” than an experience like this cruise! I encourage you to make the most of your summer by joining me in this travel opportunity. I look forward to it all: bonding with friends and family, the sights and sounds of Alaska, and the opportunity to study God’s Word together. I promise the experience will draw you closer to Him than ever before.

If you’re already thinking about what to bring, summer in Alaska is beautiful with sunshine and possible showers. Below is a checklist to help you pack for your exceptional travel experience. Remember that your luggage will be delivered to your cabin at an unspecified time on the day of departure, so it’s a good idea to pack a change of clothes, toiletries and any medications you need in a carry-on bag to bring with you.

Packing Checklist

  • Casual clothes including pants, jeans, shorts, T-shirts, collared shirts or blouses
  • Light sweater or jacket
  • Semi-formal clothes or dress clothes for 1-2 evenings, depending on the length of your cruise
  • Bathing suit and a cover-up or wrap
  • Light raincoat or compact umbrella
  • Comfortable walking shoes or sandals with rubber soles
  • Hat, sunglasses and sunscreen
  • Toiletries, in a sealed, clear bag inside your luggage
  • Minor First Aid care items such as Band-Aids, aspirin, hand sanitizer, etc.
  • Medications in their original containers
  • Hair care appliances (see information on Using Electronics)
  • Small bag or backpack for port days; large enough to carry your camera and other personal items
  • Passport with separate photocopy

Dining Dress Code

On a typical seven-day cruise, you’ll have two nights of dressing up for dinner or other special events. We suggest a semi-formal dress or skirt and blouse for women and a dark suit for men. The remaining dinners on the cruise are informal—blouse and pants for women; collared shirt with trousers for men. Remember that T-shirts, shorts or tank tops are not permitted in the dining room.

Packing Tips

Make certain your suitcase closes and fastens securely. Mark your luggage and carry-on bag with your name and address so you can distinguish them easily. We also recommend you put identification information—name, address and phone number—INSIDE your luggage in case the luggage tags are lost in transit. We also suggest keeping your essential toiletries and a one-day change of clothes in your carry-on. Do not pack your passport or travel documents in your luggage. It is suggested that you keep a color copy of the information page of your passport inside your luggage if your passport is lost.

For more information, please call one of our Reservation Coordinators at 800 247 1899 , Monday through Friday between 8:30am – 5:30pm, Pacific Time.

We know how nice it is to have the convenience of home when traveling on a cruise. Bringing your electronics and hair appliances can enhance your overall travel experience. Every cruise ship has plugs that accept U.S. and Continental European devices, and you do not need to bring plug adaptors. Here are some things to know about your electronics before you pack them:

Phones, MP3 Players, Laptops, Cameras & Video Cameras

Most small digital devices have chargers that will fit in the plugs on a cruise ship. One thing to be mindful of is the limited plugs in each cabin; you may want to bring a multi-plug extension cord.

Blow Dryers, Curling Irons & Straighteners

Each stateroom has a hair dryer for your personal convenience. If you prefer your hair appliances, you may want to consider purchasing or borrowing compact and travel-friendly appliances.

For more information, please call one of our Reservation Coordinators at 800 247 1899 , Monday through Friday between 8:30am-5:00pm, Pacific Time.

The scenic beauty of Alaska can be enjoyed from onboard the ship and to make the most of your cruise vacation, you can also get out into the local ports. Shore excursions offer something for everyone. Choose from city tours, culinary explorations, shopping outings, cultural activities and more.

Because shore excursions have limited capacity and fill up quickly, we recommend you book early for the best selection on your cruise. Once you’ve booked your Inspiration cruise, check out the customized cruise line excursion list based on your itinerary. Using your cruise booking number, you can easily book shore excursions online as early as 60 days before your trip and up to 3 days before departure, depending on the cruise line.

Visit the cruise line’s website to find information on specific excursions:

  • Celebrity Cruises
  • Holland America Line
  • Norwegian Cruise Line
  • Royal Caribbean International

You may also register for your Shore Excursions once onboard the ship. All shore excursion requests are processed on a first-come, first-serve basis. Waitlisted requests for sold-out shore excursions will be processed before requests made onboard.

For more information please call one of our Reservation Coordinators at 800 247 1899 , Monday through Friday between 8:30am-5:00pm, Pacific Time.

We want to help make your trip as smooth and as enjoyable as possible. We can book motorcoach transfers for you from the airport to your cruise departure port and on your return trip.

Hotel Stays

Remember that you always have the option of arriving earlier or staying later. For example, hotel reservations may be available if you want to arrive a few days early before boarding your cruise or stay a few days after the cruise returns.

As you plan for your upcoming Christian cruise with Inspiration, you may wonder about using money and credit cards during your travels. We’ve made the following recommendations to help you save money, avoid unnecessary fees and focus on an exceptional travel experience.

  • Consider leaving all unnecessary credit cards at home.
  • Once you determine which cards you’ll bring, remember to notify each credit card company of your intended travel dates and locations to ensure fraud alerts and holds are not placed on your accounts.
  • For each card, you’ll want to store the bank’s contact information in a separate, secure location in the unlikely event your wallet or purse is lost or stolen.

Almost all businesses in Victoria or Vancouver, Canada accept U.S. credit or debit cards. If you plan to use your credit cards, you’ll want to check with each credit card company to determine the international exchange fee for each card. Because the difference of a few percentage points could cost you more (depending on your purchases), we recommend using cards with lower international exchange fees. Using your credit card for large purchases gives you more protection for the items you buy on your trip. You can review your credit card statement to verify all of your purchases.

The Canadian Dollar (C$) is the official currency when your cruise stops in Canada, however U.S. dollars are widely accepted. When paying in U.S. dollars expect change in Canadian Dollars so bring small bills. If traveling with currency other than the U.S. dollar you may exchange money onboard the ship, although we always recommend checking the exchange rate before traveling to a foreign country.

Today’s technology allows you to stay connected while traveling—ensuring you get that memorable photo or message from your loved ones. On most ships, you should be able to use your cell phone or smartphone to do everything you’re used to doing at home. In addition, mobile phones provide convenient access for emergencies and confirming travel plans. Some basic guidelines and tips will help you save money, keep your phone working effectively and stay in touch.

Before you leave

Spending some time contacting your cell phone carrier before your trip will help ensure you can call friends and family back home and eliminate any surprises on your phone bill when you return. Let your phone carrier know your travel plans, including how you plan to use your phone on your cruise. You’ll want to make sure you understand all of the potential charges. Contact your carrier for specific information.

Check with your carrier for international dialing access

You will want to make sure international and cruise package dialing is active on your mobile phone plan so that you can use it in the Canadian ports and remember that international and maritime roaming rates will apply to calls placed onboard the ship (charges will appear on your phone bill). Because roaming rates can be high on cruises, checking with your carrier for specific cost details before you leave is a good idea.

Aboard your flight and cruise

Your cell phone’s battery life is the key to keeping you connected. Below are some tips for staying powered up on your trip:

  • Remember to set your phone to Airplane Mode when you board your flight. You can also do this aboard the cruise when sailing to avoid roaming charges unless you have the cruise ship package with your carrier. This suspends all calling and texting functions but still allows you to play games, use your camera and listen to music, etc.
  • On the cruise, you’ll want to charge your phone every night to ensure enough battery life for the next day.
  • Try to turn off your phone when you’re not using it. Leaving your phone on all day drains the battery, so it’s a good idea to turn it off while you’re on a shore excursion, eating or reading.

Smartphone tips

As one of the most popular communication devices today, smartphones have revolutionized how we connect and the world. We know leaving your smartphone behind for an hour, much less multiple days is difficult. The following tips will help you save your phone’s battery life and get the most out of your smartphone while on the cruise:

  • Before your cruise, you’ll want to disable any applications that give you regular updates, such as sports reports and weather updates.
  • Disable the Data Enabled or Data Roaming option on your phone and keep it off until you reach your destination. Turn off the function for “Automatic” checking of emails and change the email settings to “Manual” to reduce data roaming charges. During your trip, you can check for email messages when connected to a free, wireless Internet connection, such as in a hotel lobby or Internet cafe while in port.

In-room phones and phone cards

If you choose to not bring your mobile phone, you can stay in touch with others while on your cruise using the in-room phones. Please make sure you understand all of the charges associated with this before you place your call, as the rates can be expensive.

An Alaskan cruise vacation allows you to explore multiple locations without the hassle of checking in and out of hotels, packing and unpacking, and spending valuable time trying to find quality restaurants–all with excellent service dedicated to enhancing your exceptional travel experience.

Each cruise line makes rewarding the excellent service you’ll receive onboard easy. A gratuity of $16-$19 per day (depending on the cruise line and cabin category), per guest for dining and stateroom services will be automatically added daily to your shipboard account. The cruise line also will automatically add an 18% service charge to beverages purchased through your onboard account. Before the end of the cruise, the Cruise Director will address more specific questions regarding tipping procedures.

If you take a taxi to the pier, it’s common to simply round up to the next dollar when paying your tab. The cab drivers appreciate this, and it is considered part of their income. When you arrive at the ship on embarkation day, we suggest tipping the porters at the pier $1.25 per bag when they take your luggage to place it on the ship. When visiting restaurants off the ship and during shore excursions, a 15-20% tip for restaurant service workers is appreciated.

With its richly dense rainforests and towering glaciers, Alaska is a place unlike any other— anywhere you look is a stunning site. We recommend whale watching; Juneau is home to the majestic humpback whales.
