Dead trees start coming back to life, the wintry grey skies start to disappear, the crowds start reappearing on the various Parisian streets , and the Paris magic returns as we know it!

Spring Months in Paris

Springtime in Paris officially begins on 21st March and ends on 21st June, but when you get to see flowers blooming depends on how brutal the winter was or how warm the spring season begins; then you know it’s springtime.

However, sometimes the flowers start to bloom as soon as March clocks in especially in places like the Luxembourg garden. It might not be the perfect time to start looking out for them but it’s a good escape if you’re already dreading the winter blues.

So if you dream of being in Paris in springtime, you should plan to visit in the months of, March , April , and May with mid-March to the end of April presenting the best chances of seeing the trees and flowers in full bloom.

Paris weather in spring

The weather in Paris spring is what you can call dynamic and “everything in between”.

In Paris spring, you can expect to see some sun, it’s most likely to stay chilly up to the end of April but you can also expect a few days of rain throughout the season.

So technically, you’ll have to be ready for all kinds of weather! However, don’t expect it to be as cold as winter or as hot as summer!

Temperatures in Paris in the spring can range from 5°C (41 °F) to 20°C (68°F) depending on the specific spring month while the average rainy days oscillate between 8 to 9.

To give you an actual idea of the average temperatures of all the months, below is a summary of the temperatures in each fall month including the lows and highs.

With pink-flowered trees scattered around the city, the cherry season in Paris creates an amazing atmosphere while creating a beautiful backdrop for those perfect Instagram photos.

You can find cherry blossoms in Paris in several places but the most notable ones which are a must-visit include; Luxembourg Gardens, Jardin Palais Royal , Champs De Mars which is near the Eiffel Tower giving incredible views of the Eiffel Tower with a touch of pink, Tuileries Gardens which is next to the Louvre Museum, Jardin Des Plantes and so many others.

Pro tip* The best time to see the cherry blossoms in Paris is during the weekdays and either in the morning or the evening hours if you want to beat the huge crowds. Also, since it will be a lot of walking, make sure that you take comfortable walking shoes like these .

2. Go for a picnic

One of the cool things to do in Paris in the springtime is to go for a picnic! As winter gloomy and cold days end and the spring sun comes out, you know it’s time to go for a picnic in one of the many beautiful parks in Paris .

In spring, the weather is just right – not too cold and not too hot making for a perfect temperature to stay out all afternoon as you enjoy a picnic in Paris.

So all you need to do is pack up your picnic essentials, your favorite French wine , the famous French baguette , some fresh fruits , and water, and head out in the outdoors.

When the sun comes out, you know Parisians want to party or at least attend some festivals to forget the gloomy days in winter. And when it comes to springtime, Paris never runs out of festivals to attend!

There are a number of festivals to attend in Paris and a few you shouldn’t miss out on include; Roland Garros, the International Art Show, Festival   de Saint-Denis  which is perfect for people who enjoy classical music, or  Paris Jazz Festival  for those who hunger for jazz music.

4. Visit some museums at night

Let’s be real, Paris has some of the best museums in Europe , and not visiting one will be a big Parisian mistake .

Though you can visit them during the day, Paris in the spring allows you to visit them at night during the Night of Museums Day also known as La Nuit des Musees .

On this day, most museums in Paris stay open till 9:45 pm as opposed to the usual 5:00 pm or 6: 00 pm and the big plus is that they’re free to visit.

Some of the museums you can visit at night in spring on the Nuit des Musees day include; the famous Louvre Museum , Musée Guimet , Musée des Arts et Métiers , and many others.

So while in Paris in spring, make sure you take advantage of the night of the museums as it’s one of the best things to do in Paris at night .

5. Taste all the Chocolate you can

If you have a sweet tooth or you can never get enough of chocolate, spring in Paris is the best time to visit. During the time leading up to the Easter season, you will find thousands of various chocolates in different designs.

You can find these chocolates in most stores beautifully wrapped as Easter delicacies but as a chocolate lover, it means that you have a variety to taste as most chocolate companies/shops present their best during this time of the year.

A few places where you can indulge in Easter chocolate include; Jean-Paul Hévin in the 1st arrondissement, Foucher in the 2nd, Pierre Hermé which is known for its macaron — another Parisian dessert you must try, La Maison du Chocolat in the 8th arrondissement and so many others.

But if you want an already organized tour where you don’t need to look for places yourself, then you can opt for this famous chocolate tour .

Pro tip* If you want to taste lots of chocolate but don’t want to spend hundreds of Euros on them, wait for Easter to end and you can go back to stores to buy them. At this time, since the reason for making these Easter-centric chocolates is done, they go on sale with huge discounts which means that you can get them for even less than half of the actual price.

6. Join the Easter celebrations in Paris

If you ever wanted to attend a special service in Paris, then visiting in spring is the best time as you’ll get to attend the Easter service.

Church services in Paris are special as you get to pray while taking in the magnificent architectural beauty that lives in almost most churches and cathedrals in Paris.

Also, some churches in Paris prepare special Easter concerts where you can enjoy beautiful Easter music while spending the day away.

And if you’re visiting Paris in spring with kids, you can take them to parks like Parc des Buttes Chaumont , Jardin des Champs Élysées , Jardin du Palais Royal, etc so they can take part in the French Easter tradition of egg hunting; an experience they will remember forever.

7. Enjoy the views of Paris from The Dome Of The Panthéon

Though the Panthéon is open all year round, the only time of the year you can climb it to take in the panoramic views of Paris is between April to October.

This means that if you visit Paris in the springtime, you’ll be able to climb its dome and admire the entire city of lights from above while getting views of the Eiffel Tower , the Invalides , and the beautiful Paris roofs .

8. Cruise the Seine River

One of the best things to do in Paris in spring is to go on a cruise on the Seine River. A cruise on the Seine River will give you incredible views of the most famous landmarks of Paris while feasting on some of France’s famous cuisines.

You can go for this afternoon Lunch Seine cruise to enjoy the sun while taking in the beautiful views but I’d recommend taking this evening seine cruise instead .

An evening cruise will treat you to the best sunset in Paris and as it becomes darker, the lights of the famous buildings will create an impressive reflection on the surface of the Seine!

And on top of this, you’ll be able to see the Eiffel Tower dazzle at every top of the hour which is a magical sight to see!

9. Visit the garden of Versailles Palace

If you’re up for a short day trip out of Paris , then head to Versailles Palace (which is one of the best castles near Paris ) for your breath to be taken away by its garden.

The flowers of different species and colors welcome you to the garden and since the protections against the cold are removed from the sculptures in spring, this even creates a more magical sight.

And it’s not just to be amazed by the flowers in the garden of Versailles, the palace organizes fountain shows during spring and summer which makes for a perfect way to spend your spring in Paris.

So while in Paris in spring, pick either a Tuesday, Sunday, or even a Saturday to visit the garden of Versailles Palace to enjoy both the beautiful flowers and the fountain’s musical shows.

But as you plan to go, make sure that you purchase this Versailles skip-the-line ticket in advance to skip the long lines or this one if you don’t want the stress of planning and prefer a guided tour.

10. Explore Paris on foot

If you’ve been reading my posts for a while, you know that I am all about exploring Paris on foot as that’s how you can see all its hidden gems and take in all its beauty up-close.

The best time to easily see Paris on foot is during springtime since it’s neither freezing cold nor extremely hot, which would otherwise make walking for long uncomfortable.

You can walk around the areas of Montmarte and explore its charm, take a stroll along the banks of the Seine River to feel its breeze while enjoying the views, or just walk around the city with no real agenda while taking photos to appreciate Paris even more.

As I mentioned earlier, Paris in springtime can be both warm and chilly, so as you pack clothes, make sure that you carry warm ones too. And below is what to wear in Paris spring .

A warm waterproof jacket

It might be spring but it will still be cold, so as you pack for Paris in spring, make sure that you pack a really warm coat like this one .

It’s perfect for those spring rainy days and it will keep you warm especially if you’re visiting at the beginning of the season when temperatures are still low.

Fleece/Leather Jacket/Bomber

You might think that carrying a thick jacket is enough but no. Spring temperatures keep changing day by day. Some days it can be super cold but other days just chilly.

So to avoid heating up and being bothered by the huge coat, you might want to pack yourself either this really warm fleece , a leather jacket , or even this cute bomber jacket . One of them is perfect for those days when the temperatures are not too low but you still need something to warm you up.

Top 10 things to do in Paris in spring

Paris is beautiful to explore any season. But spring is the time to soak up that special ‘April in Paris’ charm that Sinatra sung about so well: chestnut groves blossom, city parks burst into flower, plane trees sprout foliage over boulevards, and cafe terraces buzz with new-found energy as Parisians head outdoors to enjoy spring’s soft warm days.

Eiffel Tower

No Parisian landmark embraces springtime blue skies as enthusiastically as the Eiffel Tower – its spire is frequently half-lost in fog in winter. On clear spring days, the 324m-tall tower is striking from any angle. And with glass flooring on the 1st floor – peer down at Paris beneath your feet – views are even sharper.

For a panorama of the city from the tower, lunch at 58 Tour Eiffel or Michelin-starred Le Jules Verne . For ringside views of the icon and its webbed ironwork imprinted on blue sky, consider Les Ombres or the more casual Café Branly .

The Islands

Romance oozes out of every historic nook and cranny of Île St-Louis and Île de la Cité, both perfect for a springtime stroll. These two islands on the Seine have quaint car-free streets full of old-world boutiques. Start on a high with the bestial rooftop of Cathédrale Notre Dame , then relax on a bench beneath pink cherry blossoms in the Seine-side garden of Square Jean XXIII.

The stained glass windows inside Notre Dame and at nearby Sainte-Chapelle are dazzling at this time of year when the sunlight streams in. Cool down afterwards with une glace (an ice cream) from Paris’ most famous ice cream maker, Berthillon .

Jardin du Luxembourg

Lounging on a sage-green deckchair in this mythical city park is a Parisian spring essential. Chasing a vintage wooden sail boat around the park’s octagonal Grand Bassin pond is brilliant fun – kids have done this since the 1920s.  Puppet shows entertain at the Théâtre du Luxembourg and art exhibitions take place at the   Musée du Luxembourg , both in the park.

Musée Rodin 

Spring marries perfectly with the Musée Rodin , one of Paris’ loveliest art museums in the former studio and showroom of sculptor and painter Auguste Rodin. Sculptures inside the 18th-century mansion are world-class (don’t miss Rodin’s L’Eternel Printemps  ( Eternal Spring) and The Kiss , both sculptures of two lovers embracing) but the museum gardens are most memorable. Roses mingle with The Thinker and other iconic works, while wooden sun lounges offer peaceful contemplation between springtime blossoms.

Other art museums with gorgeous gardens are  Musée du Quai Branly ; the Musée de l’Orangerie in the fashionable Jardin des Tuileries ;  and the Musée Marmottan-Monet , home to the world's largest collection of Monet's works, overlooking the delightfully local Jardin du Ranelagh.

Nuit des Musées

The annual Nuit des Musées  in May is a prime opportunity to revel in Paris’ second-to-none portfolio of museums and monuments: sights stay open late and admission is free.

Cafe culture

Watch the world go by over un café  (a coffee) or early evening apéro (pre-meal drink) on one of the city’s zillions of cafe pavement terraces – there is no finer time of year to indulge in Parisian cafe culture than spring as outdoor heaters are put away and tables multiply.

Traditional neighbourhood cafes with sunny terraces and bistro chairs meticulously arranged in tight rows include Le Petit Fer à Cheval  and Café Charlot in Le Marais neighbourhood; Le Progrès , loaded with ambience in Montmartre ; Café Saint Régis , footsteps from Notre Dame; and  Café La Palette where art dealers and fashionistas congregate on the Left Bank. At dusk place du Marché Ste-Catherine is a pretty cafe-laced square to sit beneath fairy lights and sip an apéro .

Chez Prune   is the cafe-bar that put Canal St-Martin on the map. Café Marly overlooks the Louvre's inner courtyard, while homemade ginger lemonade and hibiscus flower cordial make   L’Ebouillanté , footsteps from the Seine, an artsy favourite.

The tranquil, 4.5km-long Canal St-Martin in northeastern Paris was surely created with sunny spring days in mind – reflections on the water are superbly photogenic and a stroll or cycle along the canal’s leafy towpaths or between trendy boutiques is like a scene straight out of a film. Watch canal boats pass through locks and beneath vintage swing bridges that pivot 90 degrees when boats approach.

Spring in Paris is about sitting outside and feasting on the city’s extraordinarily varied cuisine. Gastronomic restaurants rarely have outdoor seating, but budget and midrange places do.

Hot spots near the Eiffel Tower – popular among the local office crowd for a brasserie lunch in the midday sun – are La Mascotte and Upper Crèmerie . In Le Marais, a trendsetting crowd lunches in the hidden courtyard of Derrière , while the terrace at Mini Palais is magnifique for soaking up the old-world atmosphere of art nouveau Paris. Beloved Left Bank addresses include casual Le Square and Yves Camdeborde’s raved-about gourmet bistro Le Comptoir du Relais . 1.  Photograph the Eiffel Tower Surrounded by Cherry Blossoms

Whether you're visiting the City of Light for the first time or are a frequent return visitor, it's hard to resist photographing Paris's most iconic attraction, the Eiffel Tower, especially on a beautiful spring day from about mid-March through mid-April when the intoxicating beauty of pink cherry blossoms fill the air.  (Please note:  bloom times vary a bit each year.)

But here's an "insider's secret" tip:  to get the best views of the "Iron Lady" surrounded by pink, avoid the crowds of tourists vying for the "perfect" spot for selfies under the rather sparse grove of cherry trees with pale pink flowers located in the small garden areas on Champs de Mars near the Tower. 

Instead, walk across the Seine River on the Pont d'Iéna Bridge to the gently sloping Jardins du Trocadéro - maybe a 3-5 minute walk from the Tower.  Once you're there, you'll see flamboyant deep-pink cherry blossoms covering dozens of large Kwanzan cherry trees  along both sides of the park's long reflecting pools.

Walk around to find the views you like best.  Bonus tip:   you may find better angles toward top of the slope rather than closer to the river.

2.  Watch Spring Unfold at Monet's Garden in Giverny

French Impressionist painter Claude Monet's home at Giverny reopens to the public around the first of April each year, just in time for the first spectacular flush of flowers in his famous gardens and surrounding the lily ponds that inspired so much of his later work.

Although you'll see continuous blooms in the densely planted gardens and ponds throughout the year, spring is especially gorgeous.  What can you see?  In addition to Japanese cherry trees, apple trees, rhododendrons, and azaleas, look for peonies, irises, tulips, lupins, roses, clematis, daffodils, allium, pansies, poppies, forget-me-nots, and hardy geraniums.

If you're very lucky, you may even see a few water lilies in bloom toward the end of May - although their peak blooming season comes during the summer and early fall.

3.  watch the musical fountains show at the palace of versailles.

Starting around the first of April, the Palace of Versailles begins seasonal Musical Fountains and Musical Gardens Shows in the chateau's magnificent gardens - a magical experience that you should not miss!

During the Musical Fountains, the fountains in the Estate's gardens spout water to the beat of Baroque music as you stroll along suggested paths.  Not all fountains will be on at all times during the day due to environmental considerations. To see all 32 functional fountains in play, your best strategy is to be in the garden during late afternoon hours (3:30pm-5:30pm).

The Musical Gardens show gives you access to groves and gardens not usually open to the public.  As you walk around admiring the beautiful flowers, sculptures, topiaries, and other hidden treasures, you'll hear Baroque music wafting through the air. 

Musical Gardens take place on Tuesdays through Fridays, and Musical Fountain shows take place on Saturdays and Sundays.

4.  Enjoy a Drink at a Sunny Parisian Cafe Terrace

Especially during March and April, spring temperatures in Paris can still be chilly. 

But even if you still need to wear a coat or jacket to feel comfortable while walking around, the sun creates appealing "heat traps" outside of local cafes and bistros, which set up tables and chairs in front of their establishments

So do what Parisians do as soon as the sun appears on even the earliest spring days:  find a seat on a sunny terrace, order a coffee, a drink, or even a meal, and soak up some Vitamin D while you relax and watch tout le monde walk by.

5.  Discover the Newest Treasures at Les Puces

If you want to get a head start on other treasure-hunters at Les Puces, Paris's gigantic (and best) flea market, spring is the time to visit - the earlier, the better.

Why?  Many dealers take advantage of the slower winter months following Christmas to replenish their inventory when fewer shoppers visit.  So when you visit during the spring, you're getting to see the full array of the newest and best offerings - before hoards of summer shoppers arrive!

More to Know:   Want to buy something larger than your largest suitcase?  Let's say, an exquisite Venetian glass chandelier or gilded 18th century mirror you're unable to resist?  No worries!  You can easily arrange to ship your treasure home - just stop by one of the on-site shipping offices, and they'll take care of everything.

6.  Smell the Spring Roses at Musée Rodin

One of the pleasures of visiting Paris in spring is immersing yourself in the city's stunningly beautiful rose gardens - but unless you know where to find them, they're easy to miss because most are hidden from the street. 

Perhaps the most beautiful rose garden in Paris is the gorgeous seven-acre sculpture garden surrounding the Rodin Museum , located in a historic private mansion called Hôtel Biron.  Although Surrounding August Rodin's famous monumental works such as The Thinker and The Gate of Hell are formal gardens containing over 2,000 rose bushes, including about 100 different varieties.  

At the peak of their blooming season during May and early June, they are show-stoppers.  But don't worry if you're not there at that moment - they are beautiful throughout the spring, plus many continue to bloom through the summer and fall.  Extra special:  the garden's Christmas roses, which usually start in November and continue through January.

More places in central Paris where you can see beautiful rose gardens in full bloom during late spring:

• Palais Royal Garden, 1st arr - In addition to the roses which peak in May and June, look for magnolia blooms and cherry blossoms starting in April or even late March
• Jardin des Plantes, 5th arr - With almost 400 types of roses ranging from wild species to contemporary hybrids, the Rose and Rock Garden (tucked away next to the Galerie de Minéralogie), overflows with gorgeous colors and scents in formal beds and arches against a backdrop of interesting rocks from all regions of France 
• Square Saint-Gilles Grand-Veneur, 3rd arr - Located at the end of a narrow lane off Rue Villehardouin in the Marais, this secluded walled garden features beautiful varieties of roses.  Peak blooms come in May and June, but you'll see some blossoms throughout the year 
• Bercy Park, 12th arr - Located a bit further out but definitely worth an extra 10 minutes on the metro, this park contains a number of magnificent gardens, including one devoted solely to roses.  Also spectacular in spring: the rhododendrons and peonies.

7.  See the Eiffel Tower from Île des Cygnes (Before the Leaves Block Your View)

Here's something you may not notice about Paris if you visit between late spring and early winter: from about the end of April through late-November, all the leafy trees lining streets, the banks of the Seine River, and the city's 500+ parks and square block many of the most charming views of top attractions, famous monuments, and curvy Art Nouveau architecture.

So take advantage of early spring, when leaves are emerging just enough to give the landscape a green veil, and stroll around the city as you enjoy vistas that will be hidden for the next six months once the foliage fully develops.

Where to Go & What to See:

• Île des Cygnes - See iconic views of the Eiffel Tower from this small human-made "Island of the Swans" located in the Seine River between the 15th and 16th arrondissements.  To reach it, walk across the Pont de Grenelle or Pont de Bir-Hakeim bridge
• Art Nouveau Architecture in the 16th District - In addition to the cherished Art Nouveau Metro entrances by French architect Hector Guimard, Paris contains a treasure trove of other examples of this magnificent Belle Epoque style - especially in the wealthy 16th arrondissement.  

8. Plan a Few Rainy Day Activities... Just in Case

Spring in Paris experiences its share of showers.  Although they usually end as quickly as they be gin and therefore will not cause you much inconvenience, you should always have a few indoor backup plans... just in case.

Here are a few wonderful indoor places to explore:

• Covered Passages - These precursors to modern malls revolutionized shopping for wealthy Parisians back in the 19th century.  Here are three of the best:  1) Véro-Dodat Gallery (1st arr), filled with luxury clothing and accessory boutiques such as Louboutin, antique stores, and jewelry dealers; 2) Galerie Vivienne (2nd arr), also specializing in luxury boutiques, fine leather goods, and vintage/antiquarian maps and books; 3) Passage Verdeau (9th arr), a favorite of stamp, book, and art collectors.  Use our covered passages guide to explore any or all of these on your own - or take a guided tour
• Grevin Wax Museum - If you're a fan of wax museums - or even if you're not - this is one of the oldest in Europe and among the best in the world.  With almost 500 wax characters depicting French history, culture, and contemporary life, you'll see everything from bloody scenes of the Inquisition and French Revolution to present-day film stars, sports greats, Bollywood favorites, and of course homages to French couture and culinary celebrities. • Paris Opera House (Palais Garnier) - One of Paris's most dazzling jewels, dripping with gold, crystals, and over-the-top opulence.  Don't miss the Grand Hall, massive curving staircase, and Marc Chagall mural painted on the domed ceiling. Get a reserved admission ticket

Spring in Paris is when the city awakens from its winter slumber, and the streets are filled with the scent of blooming flowers. It’s no wonder that many (including myself) consider this the best time to visit the City of Love .

During this season, you can be delighted by some of Paris’s prettiest hues with gardens and parks bursting into life.

⛅ While March might still feel a bit chilly, by late May, summer seems just around the corner, with temperatures averaging between 47°F in March and 60°F in May .

Here’s a convenient breakdown of Paris’ spring weather:

While clear spring days may give you that picture-perfect Instagram shot, don’t be surprised if you also encounter some rainy days.

Oh, the  joie de vivre  of Paris in spring! It’s the perfect season to enjoy the city’s famous gardens. One of the most beautiful places is the  Luxembourg Gardens .

Grab a coffee and a fresh croissant from a nearby café and take a leisurely stroll to appreciate the vibrant flowers, exquisite fountains, and historic statues.

Another must-visit garden is the  Tuileries Garden , located in central Paris. It’s a fantastic place for a picnic or to simply relax on a sunny day.

If you’re in the mood for a charming day trip, head down to  Parc de Sceaux , known for its elegant chateau and breathtaking cherry blossoms.

Outdoor Sightseeing

Of course, no trip to Paris is complete without heading to the top of the Eiffel Tower . The views are spectacular, especially during spring when the city is in full bloom.

And if you can’t get tickets (they sell out months in advance), I’d recommend heading to the Arc de Triomphe and climbing up to the rooftop instead!

The views are just as good – if not better – because you can actually see the Eiffel Tower from up there.

A visit to the iconic  Notre Dame Cathedral  is also a must. As of now, it is still under construction after the 2019 fire, but it’s still worth seeing from the outside.

Walk along the  Seine River  for dazzling views of the cathedral, as well as the charming  Île de la Cité .

I suggest exploring  Le Marais  and its cozy cobblestone streets. You’ll find delightful boutiques, art galleries, and scrumptious French cuisine. Don’t miss the   Canal Saint-Martin area for a picturesque stroll or a charming boat ride along the canal.

Museums and Indoor Attractions

Art lovers rejoice! Spring is an ideal time to explore Paris’ museums.

My personal favorite is the  Musée Rodin . Its lovely sculpture garden is perfect for a spring day. The  Louvre Museum  houses iconic works such as the Mona Lisa and is a must-visit.

If you’re a fan of Van Gogh, head to the  Musée d’Orsay  to admire his masterpieces and many others from the Impressionist era. While you’re there, take a break at their rooftop café and savor the mesmerizing views of the Seine and the city.

Springtime Events and Festivals

Ah, Paris in spring, where the  cherry blossoms  bloom and the city comes alive with events and festivals to suit all tastes! Let’s dive into a few must-experience celebrations during this beautiful season.

Easter Sunday

Paris takes its spring holidays seriously, and Easter is no exception. Traditional Easter egg hunts take place throughout the city, including the famous event at the Champ de Mars park near the Eiffel Tower.

Ah,  spring in Paris ! It’s arguably the best season to visit the City of Lights. The weather is pleasant, flowers are blooming, and there’s an undeniable feeling of romance in the air.

If you’re heading to Paris in springtime, here are some practical tips to help you make the most of your trip.

Getting around Paris

The public transportation system in Paris is fantastic, and exploring the city by metro is quite efficient. In fact, using the Paris metro is probably going to be your most efficient option for getting around the city.

However, spring is a beautiful time of year to stroll the streets of Paris on foot. Consider joining a walking tour  to get a sense of the different neighborhoods and their unique ambiance.

And, if you have a full day to spare, you can even rent a bike or take advantage of the city’s bike-sharing program.

Due to the amount of traffic in the city, I’d avoid taxing taxis/Ubers to get around, unless you’re going longer distances (like to and from the airport). Ubers here can be quite expensive, and oftentimes they take longer than a trip would take via metro.

Visiting Paris in the spring is a magical and memorable experience you won’t soon forget. Ever watched the movie or heard the term” April in Paris?” That is because this is a wonderful time of year to visit the most romantic city in the world! The weather during spring in Paris will be a bit cold [Paris has an average temperature of 47°F in March and 60°F in May], but the entire city will be in bloom and you are in for a real treat!

Springtime in Paris is generally defined as March-May, but March may still experience colder weather while May can actually be quite hot. Spring in Paris means April showers and beautiful May flowers and most importantly, fewer crowds to fight. This time of year is still the “off-season” so the city will be less busy and more pleasant than other times of the year. With a few tips and this handy guide by your side, you will be able to enjoy a wonderful trip to Paris during the spring!

Average Paris Spring Weather

The average weather in Paris in the spring is a bit rainy and chilly, with the spring “thaw” coming in late April and all throughout May. The weather begins to improve in March, but you can expect a great deal of rain in March and through April. If you are visiting Paris in the springtime, it is a great idea to bring an umbrella or buy one at one of the grocery stores in Paris during your stay. Since it is wet in March and April, you can expect the possibility of at least one potential day of snowfall during those months!

Paris observes Daylight Savings Time so the sun sets early during the beginning of spring in Paris, but as soon as the time changes, you get to enjoy more daylight hours than if you visited during the fall or winter. You will have only 6 hours of sunshine during March in Paris but if you visit Paris in May, you will experience 9 hours on average! This is a huge difference and either way, there is still plenty to see and do when you visit Paris in the spring!

Average Spring Temperatures In Paris

Like many cities, Paris in the springtime can oscillate between chilly and more pleasant weather. The average temperature for Paris in March is 47°F, the average temperature of Paris in April is 52°F, and the average temperature of Paris in May is 59°F. As you can see, the temperatures are not freezing but not hot either. You are still going to need a coat, hat, and gloves, as well as waterproof shoes, but you won’t be freezing to death. Paris in the spring is certainly more enjoyable than many other cities!

If you are looking to visit Paris in the spring, rest assured that the weather really isn’t all that bad. During one of our trips to Paris in April, we were wearing dresses and shorts, and then a few days later we were back to boots and long pants. You won’t show up to Paris in the springtime and be shocked by the temperature change, especially if you live in a place that experiences a spring with a wide range of temperatures. The warmer the weather the quicker the flowers will come into bloom.

How To Get To Paris In The Spring 

If you want to spend springtime in Paris, you are in luck! Transportation prices, especially flights, are very low, especially during the beginning of the spring, so you will save a lot of money flying in at this time! The main airport in Paris is Charles de Gaulle and it is about an hour outside of the city. Paris Orly airport is the secondary airport that hosts more local European flights. Once you land, you have the choice to take an Uber or Taxi into the city or choose to take Parisian public transportation which is easy and affordable. We always take the RER train from Charles de Gaulle from the airport directly into the heart of Paris.

If you live in Europe or you are already traveling within the country, then you may arrive on one of the many high-speed trains that run into Paris instead!  The main train stations in Paris are Gare du Nord, Gare de Lyon, and Gare de l’Est. If you want to take the train into Paris, book in advance so you can save additional money on your fare. Spending springtime in Paris is a wonderful time to visit the city while also saving money on traveling there!

Getting To/From The Airport In Paris

If you are are flying into Paris for your springtime adventure, you are going to have to transit the hour it takes to get from the airport into the city. Charles De Gaulle Airport is the main airport in Paris for international arrivals. Paris Orly is the second most popular international airport in Paris but much less popular than Charles De Gaulle.

If you are flying into Paris Orly, you can take the bus into the city center which only takes around 15-20 minutes. Since you are traveling in low or shoulder season, the traffic should be light and you shouldn’t have any issues!

If you are flying into Charles de Gaulle, you can take a private taxi or uber, take the RER train, or take the bus. Depending on which stop you need to get off on and where you want to go in Paris, one may come out easier than the other. For example, we recommend taking the bus over the RER if the RER has more than 2-3 transfers and you are carrying a lot of luggage. Either way, the prices are affordable and the time passes quickly as you make your way into the city! A RER ticket from Carles de Gaulle into the city costs about $10USD and is good for the whole ride.

How To Get Around Paris In Spring 

Choosing how to get around Paris in the spring will depend on the weather and your preference! If the weather is good, you can take some of the brand new electric scooters popping up around the city or try your hand at renting a bike. These usually only cost a few dollars to get started and are a fun way to see the city and enjoy the pleasant temperatures.

If you are in good physical fitness, you can take the Paris Metro! The Metro is a fast, affordable, and easy way to get around, and is great when spending springtime in Paris because it will shelter you from any possible bad weather! The Paris Metro will run rain or shine so you always have an affordable transport option, even if the weather turns ugly. You can purchase a metro ticket for 1.90 Euros, a booklet or 10 tickets, or a weekly metro pass, depending on your needs. We always choose a booklet or a weekly pass when we visit.

If you are not able to walk up and down a lot of steps [elevators are rare] or you are in a wheelchair, we recommend taking an Uber as it may be easier and safer. The Paris bus system is also quite easy to navigate and you can use the same tickets you purchased for the Paris metro for the bus system as well!

What To Pack For Springtime In Paris

Springtime in Paris is probably one of the most difficult times of year to pack for, because you don’t know how the weather is going to pan out! That being said, if you are traveling closer to March, your best bet is packing more “winter” focused gear and if you are traveling more toward May, your best bet is packing more “summer” focused gear. Dressing in layers is key so you can easily go from warm to cold weather with ease. Packing waterproof shoes and outwear is also important as it does rain often during some of the spring months in Paris!

When we visit Paris in the spring, we always pack rain boots, a few dresses with leggings underneath, and a waterproof coat because the weather still is chilly, especially for us Floridians! A light long-sleeve or thermal top works well too. Just be sure to see what month you are going to visit, check out guide to weather and temperatures above, and check the current local weather the week before you leave and you should be all set!

• Fleece lined leggings.  We don’t care if you are a guy or girl, if you are packing for springtime in Paris, you need to bring  fleece lined leggings!  We actually bring two pairs each so that you can double them up if you want to wear a dress or you can take one layer off if the weather warms up! Fleece lined leggings are the perfect thing to add to your spring packing list for Paris because they don’t take up much space and they keep you warm under slacks, jeans, or dresses! They are also great to wear on the plane.
• Long Colorful Dresses.  Victoria swears by these long floral dresses and they are so cheerful and perfect for Paris in the spring! They come in many colors and are great with leggings underneath and a light sweater for warmth!
• Thin Long Sleeve Thermal Tops.  If you are heading to Paris in March or early april, we recommend bringing 2-3  thin thermal tops . These tops are affordable and pack up very small all while keeping you extra warm!
• Waterproof Boots/Shoes.  Although you can probably get away with bringing canvas or lighter shoes to Paris in the spring, we do not recommend it! We brought  these Hunter Boots  on our last springtime trip to Paris and they were well worth it! They are a little pricey, to begin with, but you can find cheaper versions  like these  that just isn’t the brand name. If you don’t like boots, don’t worry, but we highly recommend packing a waterproof shoe of some sort!
• Waterproof Coat.  waterproof trench coat We love this and if you are packing for Paris in Spring, you are going to want to bring a waterproof jacket or coat along with you too! If you are visiting later in the spring, you will be okay with a light leather jacket or sweater, but if you visit earlier, we highly recommend something waterproof yet fashionable!
• Cute Floral Scarf. A lightweight scarf is your best friend when packing for springtime in Paris! Layer one over your dress or jacket and make sure to choose a floral and “happy” springtime color for an extra “pop!”
• Colorful Beret. The spring is the perfect time to break out your French beret! We love wearing berets in Paris and always buy them online from Amazon before we leave! You can choose many colors and the weather in spring will be warmer and will allow for wearing berets which we love!

Springtime in Paris is just bursting with new life and excitement! Whether this is your first trip to Paris or you have been before, the city truly comes alive during the springtime as the end of winter is being celebrated! From colorful flowers to fun events, there is always something to see and do during Paris in the spring!

Explore Paris By Electric Scooter

Bikes are SO last year [just kidding if you love biking do it!] and scooters are IN in Paris! You can rent electric scooters in Paris from companies such as Lime Scooters and tool around the city going at least 15-20mph! The scooters are lying all over the city and you simply download an app which shows you the GPS tracking of each scooters location. You find which scooter is close to you, scan the scooter with your app, and away you go! We are totally obsessed and sometimes get scooters just to tool around for the fun of it even if we have no real place to go!

Beat The Rain And Visit One Of The Many Museums In Paris

Museums are a highlight to explore in Paris and if you are visiting in the spring, they will be less busy than the high season! Millions of people travel to Paris from all around the world to visit museums and there is no better time to enjoy them than when visiting Paris in the spring! If you are visiting the Louvre, make sure to  buy a timed entrance ticket   so you aren’t stuck waiting over an hour in line to buy a ticket!

Walking along the Seine River is the best during springtime in Paris because all of the trees and plants are in bloom. The best place to stop is the gardens near Notre Dame Cathedral. The blossoms are bright pink and picture perfect and you really will want to make sure you take some photos to commemorate the occasion. If you don’t want to walk, you can take a public bike and enjoy a ride as you view the best and most beautiful blooms in Paris.

Where To Stay In Paris In The Spring

Where you are going to want to stay during your spring trip to Paris will depend on what you want to be doing and your personal preferences. If you ask 10 different people, they will probably give you 10 different answers on the best areas of Paris to stay. Here is the thing, there really is no  bad area to stay in Paris, and all areas are well connected by public transportation.

If you are truly looking to see how the locals live, we highly recommend renting an Airbnb during your time in Paris. We  love staying in Airbnb when in Paris and have paid anywhere from $45 per night for an “entire home” private accommodation to $200 a night for the same thing. The prices will be much cheaper during Paris in the spring so you are in good luck! Booking an Airbnb is also a wonderful way to try cooking at home, maybe using the skills you learned from your cooking class above!

Our recommended areas to stay in Paris in the spring would be near the Eiffel Tower, near the Arc De Triomphe/Champs Elysees, and near the Louvre. If you are looking to save and travel on a budget, Montmartre is a great place to stay and where we scored a $45 a night Airbnb which was quite lovely! There really is no “bad” area to stay in Paris so we can really only give our personal recommendations for areas, hotels, and Airbnbs that we love.

Hotel Recommendations In Paris:

• Hôtel Elysées Bassano, Paris.   This four-star hotel is located in a fantastic area in between the Arc De Triomphe and the Seine river! It is moderately priced, for Paris, and the rooms are spacious and modern! It is also 0.8 miles away from the Eiffel tower which is an easy walking distance for most.  Check price and availability here! 
• Mercure Paris Centre Tour Eiffel, Paris.  If you are looking for a hotel in Paris that is right next to the Eiffel Tower, this is it! Just steps away from the base of the famous Eiffel Tower, this four-star hotel delivers Parisian charm. If you are visiting Paris in winter, be sure to walk along the Seine and share some delicious crepes under the Eiffel Tower!  Check price availability here!
• Hôtel Eiffel Petit Louvre, Paris.  If you are looking for a more affordable Eiffel Tower hotel in Paris, check out this one! It is only a few blocks further from the tower than our suggestion above, but it is a bit cheaper. The rooms are clean and modern and pretty luxe for the price!  Check price and availability here! 
• Sofitel Paris Baltimore Tour Eiffel Hotel, Paris [Luxury Option].  There are many luxury hotels in Paris you really can’t go wrong! As we said, we love a good Eiffel Tower location and the rooms are well done. You are also close to a Metro if you need easy access to transportation!  Check prices and availability here! 
• District République, Paris [Budget Hotel].  If you are in the market for a good budget hotel, we like this one located in the 10th district. It offers free wifi and is located near metros and bus stations so you can easily get around. The rooms are clean and many attractions are within walking distance!  Check prices and availability here!

The thing about Airbnb’s is that sometimes a host will take a listing down so we apologize if one of these listings is inactive when you try to book. We try and update as often as possible to reflect current listings. We are only going to recommend “entire home” Airbnbs where you will get to stay in the entire home by yourself, without sharing with anyone! • Charming Studio near the Canal Saint-Martin.  This adorable studio is oh-so-cute and so very affordable! We love that Airbnb in Paris are affordable yet allow you to live like a local. • 5 minutes near Eiffel Tower and the Champ de Mars.  This is our very favorite location in all of Paris! Walking distance from the Eiffel Tower and the Seine as well as near more shops and restaurants than you can count! • Charming Parisian Studio.  This little studio offers the best of both worlds between a hotel and an Airbnb. It comes with a full kitchen and is comfortable and clean with a couch, TV, and separate bed! It is quite cozy if you are spending winter in Paris!  Check prices and availability here! 
• L’Etoile du 7éme – 2-bedroom, sleeps 4 [Luxury option].  If you are on the hunt for a luxury flat in Paris, this one will not let you down! It is stunning, romantic, massive, and in a fantastic location! • Lovely & bright studio 10 min from Moulin Rouge [Budget Option].  If you are looking for a budget Airbnb option in Paris, head to Montmartre! It is a haven for lovely affordable Airbnbs without sacrificing the authentic Parisian charm! Where To Eat In Paris

Paris is internationally famous for their food and it is no surprise! There is every type of cuisine imaginable, and you can pick whatever type of food suits your fancy. From Asian and Indian fare to Italian and traditional French, there are so many wonderful types of food to choose from. We are listing some of our personal favorites below, but don’t be shy and go out and find some new favorites for yourself as well!

•   Breizh Cafe   Breizh Cafe offers galettes and crepes along with local ciders and beers. They have both an indoor and outdoor sitting area, in case you want to try eating outside in Paris in the winter! The food was delicious and the drinks were great! We recommend a galette for dinner and a crepe for dessert!
• La Catrina Taqueria .  If you are looking to experience some Mexican in Paris, this is the place for you! Their tacos are out of this world and the location is right next to a Metro stop and a Velib bike station. Their Hibiscus juice is a highlight! We did say Paris had every food cuisine, right?
• Papelli .  Authentic Italian in Paris? You are going to love it! As we said above, Paris is an international city so it makes sense to try all different types of food! The pizza at Papelli is so amazing and their appetizer of bread and olive oil is scrumptious! There are multiple locations around Paris to make getting around easy.
• La Taverne de ZHAO.   This Chinese restaurant is our all-time favorite restaurant in Paris! We go every time we visit! It is the perfect place to visit when traveling to Paris in winter because the food just warms your soul. Try the tofu with egg of a thousand years. It looks weird, but it is one of the most delicious things ever! This is our favorite places to eat and we cannot say enough about it!
• Les Fondus de la Raclette.  We went here for Victoria’s birthday and it is literally the perfect spot for a Paris dinner especially if it is colder outside. Raclette is a cheese dish that came from the French Alps and skiers eat it after coming in from the slopes. This restaurant mimics a ski chalet and the food is so delicious! Come hungry because they give you a ton of food and so much cheese you have enough to take home

1- Bask in the sun on one of the capital's 3,000 terraces

Rooftop spaces with a bird's-eye view of the city, leafy courtyards sheltered from sight and the noise of the street… in Paris, some restaurant terraces are real treasures, jealously guarded by those in the know. With an intimate terrace hidden from view, Apicius is set in a sumptuous 18th-century mansion akin to a small palace; overlooking the River Seine and the Eiffel Tower, Monsieur Bleu is ensconced in the Palais de Tokyo; and then there is the impressive terrace of Michelin-Starred Le Tout-Paris , a brasserie perched on the seventh floor of the Cheval Blanc hotel  (3 MICHELIN Keys). From Saint-Germain to Montmartre, via the Eiffel Tower, discover all the loveliest terraces in Paris!

More good news for fans of outdoor dining is that this year, as every year since 2021, the capital's 3,000 or so outdoor cafés will be allowed to expand and overflow onto the sidewalk too. Even better: from 1st April to 31st October 2024, these pop-up terraces will be open until midnight (instead of their usual closing time of 10pm).

2- Go bargain-hunting outside, from the bouquinistes to brocanteurs

The return of warmer weather means getting out in the fresh air! The City of Paris regularly publishes a list of the best flea markets. But for anyone who loves antiques and vintage design, the best place to go remains the Puces de Saint-Ouen, the world's largest flea market, where antique dealers and brocanteurs (second-hand dealers) sell their wares. This Marché aux Puces is spread over 7 hectares and encompasses no fewer than 11 different markets and over 2,000 stalls and shops. Furniture, bronze ornaments, lights, tableware, jewelry, books, archaeological finds… Pick up a rare piece as you wander through the narrow streets of this bohemian market founded in 1885, or sit on the terrace of a café and listen to a gypsy jazz concert. Another typically Parisian point of interest: the bouquinistes . These are booksellers who set up on the Right Bank of the River Seine, from Pont Marie to the Quai du Louvre, and on the Left Bank, from the Quai de la Tournelle to Quai Voltaire – they specialize in old editions and second-hand books.

3- Picnic in a park with a view of cherry trees blossoming

If you ask a Parisian what their favorite springtime activity is, the chances are they'll say having a picnic. If you're lucky enough to be in the capital during that brief period when the cherry trees are in bloom, then your timing is perfect! In the Jardin des Plantes, the impressive 'Shirotae' Japanese cherry tree stands at 8m tall, and its branches form a giant parasol measuring 12m across. Square Marie-Trintignant on the edge of the historical Marais has a number of benches overlooking the nearby Seine. But if you're a true cherry blossom fan, the Parc de Sceaux is the place to go to see a remarkable floral explosion. From 30th March to 28th April 2024, the park is celebrating Hanami, the Japanese festival marking the blossoming of the sakura (cherry trees) – of which there are more than 150 scattered across the 180 hectare estate. Other green spaces where you can relax on the grass and tuck into your picnic are the Luxembourg Gardens, the Champ de Mars at the foot of the Eiffel Tower, the Buttes Chaumont, and Parc de Belleville, which commands one of the best views in the capital from its hilltop location. And let's not forget Parc Montsouris, in the very south of Paris.

4- Stock up on top-notch produce at the best markets

Would Paris be Paris without its countless food markets? With stalls packed with mouth-watering produce from all over France, they illustrate Parisians' obsession with good food. From the stalls of the famous Marché des Enfants Rouges to the crowded paths of the Marché d'Aligre, take a stroll through The MICHELIN Guide's favorite Parisian markets .

5- Hire a license-free boat or embark on a cruise

With Marin d'Eau Douce, hire a license-free electric boat and navigate the waters at your own pace, whether with friends, family or a date. Alternatively, hop aboard one of the famous Bateaux-Mouches, Vedettes de Paris or Bateaux Parisiens for a River Seine cruise taking in sights such as the Invalides, Musée d'Orsay, Notre Dame Cathedral, the Louvre, the Grand Palais, and the Eiffel Tower. At night, with its illuminated bridges and monuments, the capital feels like a life-size film set. The Seine doesn't have a monopoly on Parisian waterways. Enjoyable cruises are also organized on Canal Saint-Martin, Canal de l'Ourcq, and the River Marne. Paris Canal takes you alongside the Musée d'Orsay, the Philharmonie, and La Géode; Canauxrama offers a range of cruise formats, from an introduction to the Paris of Parisians to a full-day exploration of the banks of the River Marne.

6- Savor the best ice creams and sorbets in Paris

Just a stone's throw from the Sacré Coeur Basilica, at 16 Place des Abbesses, Une Glace à Paris came up with the concept of offering outdoor seating in the form of deckchairs. Their delicious sorbets and ice creams are designed by Emmanuel Ryon (a Meilleur Ouvrier de France Glacier and World Pastry Champion) and Olivier Ménard. You can of course also order your cornet to take with you as you explore the streets of Montmartre. Head for the most popular sights, from Café des Deux Moulins, made famous by the film Amélie, to the bronze bust of the singer Dalida at the top of rue de l'Abreuvoir. On Île Saint Louis, Berthillon has become a real institution, having reigned supreme since the 1950s. Their recipes are guaranteed to contain no artificial colors or preservatives, and the menu features around 40 flavors on any given day (there are over 90 altogether): candied chestnut, blackcurrant, mango, roasted pineapple with basil… all delicious!

7- Admire the greatest masterpieces at the European Night of Museums

Around mid-May, just before summer is in full swing, a magical night takes place in Paris. The European Night of Museums is a not-to-be-missed event organized by the Ministry of Culture, offering free evening entry to over 3,000 museums in France and Europe. As night falls, soak up the festive atmosphere with new routes, guided tours, open-air events, live shows, music, and culinary delights! In Paris, the Musée d'Orsay, Fondation Louis Vuitton, and Centre Pompidou will be welcoming you free of charge for this 20th edition, which falls on Saturday 18th May 2024. It's also an opportunity to visit the Louvre, as well as its eponymous brasserie with tables set up beneath the arcades of this quintessentially Haussmann-style building. But take note: you'll need to pre-book!

8- Get romantic in the gardens of the Musée de la Vie Romantique

South of Montmartre, on the other side of Boulevard de Clichy, the bucolic ‘Museum of Romantic Life’ is well worth a visit. From the ground floor (where writer George Sand's room has been recreated) to the first floor (dedicated to painter Ary Scheffer), it sweeps us back to the 19th century. But the main draw of this private mansion is its foliage-kissed terrace – one of the most idyllic in the capital, complete with an English-style tearoom, Rose Bakery. At a remove from the hustle and bustle, this green space is an oasis of calm in the heart of the 9th arrondissement.

9- Visit the Opéra, the Eiffel Tower… and the best restaurants in the area!

Kill two birds with one stone: Avoid the tourist traps and confidently head to these top restaurants located close to Paris's most beautiful monuments , not forgetting the excellent bistro Le Maquis , just a 15 minute walk from Montmartre.

10- Get a bird's-eye view of Paris: belvederes, rooftops and balloon rides

Springtime in Paris (usually) means clear skies. From the Belvédère de Belleville to the Tour d'Argent or the Jules Verne restaurant in the Eiffel Tower, from the upper terrace of the Arc de Triomphe to our favorite rooftops , see Paris from a different angle at these sky-high venues! If you want to go even higher, the Ballon de Paris Generali – in the Parc André Citroën (15th arrondissement) on the banks of the Seine – promises an unforgettable experience for young and old, from 0 to 99 years. Aboard the world's largest hot-air balloon, see the capital and its monuments from 150m above the ground.

11- Eat macarons

The famous almond-based sweet is distinguished by its texture, which is at once both crunchy and soft. The most famous brands are Ladurée, Lenôtre, Dalloyau, Fauchon, and Pierre Hermé, but there are also noteworthy lesser-known names; for instance, Jean-Paul Hévin, one of the best chocolatiers in Paris, has created a delicious macaron with Peruvian Grand Cru dark chocolate. There's also Chez Carette (Place des Vosges and Place du Tertre) and Yannick Lefort, another macaron specialist, in the 6th arrondissement. And don't forget Le Jardin Sucré (17th arrondissement), whose shop is nestled next to Parc Monceau. Get ready for a rainbow of flavors! For the record, it was Queen Catherine de' Medici, of Italian origin, who imported the macaron to France in the 16th century. It was a roaring success, shooting to fame all over France during the Renaissance and giving rise to the Amiens Macaron, the Saint-Emilion Macaron, and the Nancy Macaron. The Parisian version, also known as the Macaron Gerbet, only appeared in the 19th century.

12- Take a dip in the most stunning open-air, Art Deco swimming pool in Paris

Luxury hotel Molitor Paris has taken over the Molitor swimming pool , a legendary venue from the 1920s up to the 1980s. Tastefully renovated by architect Jean-Philippe Nuel, the outdoor pool has had extra floors added, including a roof terrace overlooking the city. It also boasts a Clarins spa and a fantastic restaurant run by an award-winning chef. Behind the ultra-contemporary veneer, the site's Art Deco heritage has been preserved, not least the original studded portholes and 1940s furniture. Access to the swimming pool is, of course, included in the room rate.

13- Order an excellent specialty coffee… or the best hot chocolate!

There was a time when the average espresso at a Parisian café was undrinkable, being dubbed ‘jus de chaussette’ (‘sock juice’), but over the last decade the capital has been making up for lost time. When it comes to coffee, Paris has nothing left to prove and now even boasts a number of quality coffee roasteries. If you're not a fan of caffeine, you can fall back on our best Parisian haunts for a hot chocolate. Drink in or take away if you can, to sip as you wander the streets of the capital.

14- Enjoy the gardens of Versailles, its fountains and restaurants

Considered among the most fabulous in Europe and the world, the royal gardens of Versailles come into their own in spring. Take in the Palace of Versailles fountain show, in which the water interacts with lights and music. Then refuel at Le Bistrot du 11 , just a stone's throw from the palace, one of five establishments in Île-de-France (the Paris region) to have recently been awarded a Bib Gourmand .

15- Watch a tennis match at Roland Garros

The French Open is back from 20th May to 9th June for another championship! Located in the west of Paris, at Porte d'Auteuil, on the edge of the Bois de Boulogne, the Roland Garros Stadium hosts this Grand Slam tournament every year, as well as the Paris Major Premier Padel. The sun will hopefully be shining, so don't forget your hat and sunglasses. Celebrities are often to be seen watching from the stands, so you might even bump into a famous face while you’re here!

Except for the week around Easter, Paris in springtime is relatively quiet before the summer hordes arrive. Take the opportunity to visit the city’s top sights, such as the Eiffel Tower , the Louvre Museum , and Versailles , without too much company and enjoy wandering around town with the locals.

During Easter week , Paris becomes a coveted destination for a cultural holiday in Europe, and skip-the-line tickets are paramount to avoid the longest lines. If you can be flexible with dates and pick the right moment, Paris in spring can be cheap and the attractions quiet.

Visit Paris outside the holidays mentioned above and look for accommodation and airline deals. Often, empty hotel rooms and airplane seats need to be filled at the last minute, meaning there is room for some off-season bargains.

4. STAY IN AN AREA THAT’S CLOSE TO EVERYTHING

Walking around Paris in the springtime is a pleasure, so I recommend staying central for short or no metro rides and more walks.

There are so many beautiful things to see in Paris; most places in central Paris will be close enough to at least a couple of things you have on your itinerary. By strategically planning where you stay will limit the amount of time you spend in the metro.

5. WHAT TO PACK FOR SPRINGTIME IN PARIS

What to wear in Paris in spring?  Spring in Paris means unpredictable weather, with warm and sunny days but also rainy and chilly days. You’ll still want to pack some warm clothes, particularly if you’re visiting Paris in April, as it can sometimes feel colder than you expect.

If you visit Paris in springtime, you need to be prepared for anything! When thinking about clothes to wear in Paris, layering is essential, and your packing list will definitely include a jacket or a trench coat for rainy days.

Items like a foldable umbrella and a light scarf will be your best allies in the Paris spring season, so don’t forget to include them in your packing list.

1. EXPERIENCE PARIS’ CAFÉ CULTURE

Spring in Paris is the ideal time to enjoy the sidewalk cafés. With their laid-back feel, Parisian cafés play an essential role in the city’s cultural and social life.

Sitting out in the sunshine and watching the world go by while drinking a cup of coffee or a glass of rosé is one of the pleasures of spring in Paris. You can enjoy Paris’ sidewalk cafés in their full splendor – outdoors, without the crowds yet, but with enough life to live up to the atmosphere.

2. VISIT PARIS’ PARKS AND GARDENS

Paris boasts beautiful green spaces, so make the most of this glorious time of year with a tour to the most beautiful gardens in Paris to take in the fresh air.

There are plenty of options, but the Tuileries Garden , the Luxembourg Gardens , and the Jardin des Plantes are the most central. There are many things to do in these gardens, from quirky museums to beautiful carrousels, puppet shows, or treasure hunts. They also have stalls offering drinks and sometimes also cheap eats .

In the lesser central districts, the rolling lawns of Parc Buttes-Chaumont or Parc de Belleville offer simpler pleasures and great views.

3. CHECK OUT THE SPRING BLOOMS

If you visit Paris in the spring, don’t miss the spring blooms, which add a touch of color to the city.

The cherry blossoms are photographers’ favorites (check out our cherry blossoms guide for the best locations) and they are flowering all over Paris in April, though when exactly depends on the weather. There are also beautiful magnolia and wisteria flowers, as well as elaborate floral displays at the city’s parks.

You can also head to the Marché aux Fleurs on the Ile de la Cité to buy yourself a bouquet at the daily flower market.

4. TAKING TO THE WATER

In spring, when the days are longer, and the weather starts getting warm, locals crowd the banks of the Seine River for waterside pétanque, drinks along the bar-terraces, or casual picnics with their feet dangling over the water.

One of the most popular things to do in Paris in spring for visitors is a night cruise on the Seine River to admire the city’s main historical monuments. A Canal Saint-Martin boat tour , instead, allows you to explore other lesser-known (but also lovely) areas in Paris.

However, the coolest option is sailing the Seine on a private boat with a skipper and perhaps a glass of champagne.

5. SEE THE FOUNTAINS OF VERSAILLES

Don’t miss the water shows in the  Gardens of Versailles ! Versailles is one of the best places to visit in spring, and during the garden shows, you can also explore the most secret grooves (usually closed in wintertime) and admire the  Versailles Fountains  in full swing.

The  Musical Fountains Show  usually takes place on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. In spring, Paris celebrates  La Fête du Pain , a bread festival to honor one of France’s most precious foods.

For this food festival, the city invites bakers in the largest ephemeral bakery, set up in front of Notre Dame Cathedral, to show their know-how and best pains through outdoor events, always in a festive atmosphere. Of course, the traditional  Parisian baguette  is represented together with more elaborate bread.

During this event (7 to 16 May 2024), the city also chooses the  Best Baguette in Paris , and it is a fun and, at the same time, important contest. Indeed, the winner has the honor of serving his baguettes to the Presidential Palace for a year!

7. EAT SEASONAL SPRING FOODS  

Eating seasonal produce is an important part of everyday French life that can help you eat healthier, support local farmers, and save money.

Indeed, most Parisian bistros and restaurants only use fresh seasonal produce, which means that their menus continuously change according to the seasons.

There are many Paris food festivals , like the Salon du Vin et des Vignerons Indépendants (22-24 March) or the National Cheese Day (27 March). Spring in Paris is also the season of several music festivals, like Saint-Germain’s Jazz Festival (13 to 20 May) or the Villette Sonique festival (date TBD).

In short, spring is one of the best times to travel to Paris. The clear blue sky and warm light showcase Paris at its best, and the temperature is ideal for exploring the streets and sights of the city.  

Paris in springtime is also the best time to visit to avoid crowds, at least until the school holidays or Easter arrive. Enjoy Paris’ main tourist attractions without the lines or very short lines! No matter at what time of the year you travel to Paris, you will never hit really a low season. There is simply no such thing. Expect Paris to be either packed or rather full, but it’s never without crowds. Also keep in mind Easter , it is high season!

Tip No. 3: Pack a Down Jacket for Paris in Spring

Spring’s unpredictable nature is well-known : you might encounter cold, warmth, sunshine, rain, or even a rare snowflake. Sometimes, all these weather changes can happen in just one day. This variability certainly poses a challenge when packing for your trip, requiring a versatile and adaptable approach to

If you travel in March , April, or even May to Paris, I strongly recommend packing a lightweight down jacket . The temperature gap between day and night is usually huge, but just not enough to pack a winter jacket – it takes up too much space anyway, doesn’t it?

That’s why I am a big fan of down jackets . You just wear them under your usual light coat without that they are ruining your outfit and thanks to their minimal format, you can easily store them even in your purse. 

Tip No. 4: Know about the Public Holidays during Spring in Paris

While early spring in Paris is relatively quiet, the high season takes off latest by mid-April. Easter is the first big holiday of the year and often comes with mild temperatures. In 2024 Easter Sunday is even as early as end of March.

Many European visitors use this public holiday for a short weekend getaway to Paris . Expect Paris to be packed, and absolutely make sure to buy your attraction tickets way in advance !

But Easter is only the beginning of the many bank holidays that are happening in spring:

• Easter Monday: Monday, 1stof April 2024
• Labor Day: Wednesday, 1st of May 2024
• Victory Day 1945: Wednesday, 8th of May 2024
• Ascension Day: Thursday, 9th of May 2024
• Whit Monday: Monday, 20th of May 2024

The only public holiday that you will feel the most in Paris is the 1st of May . You can expect to find everything closed: sights, museums, restaurants, and shops.

For the others, however, most shops will be closed, but museums, sights, and restaurants remain mostly open.

Like most Paris visitors, you probably think about taking a day trip from Paris to one of the many sights around the city. Frankly, I highly recommend doing so. While there are many options ( click here to see the most popular day trips from Paris ) one just stands out as the very best to visit if you are in Paris in spring: The Gardens of Monet in Giverny.

If you think of Monet, it’s likely that a picture of a painting of waterlilies pops up in front of your inner eye, and Giverny is the place where you can see those lilies for real.

The Monet Foundation and the famous gardens are just an hour west of Paris. Even though you can reach the property by public transportation – take a train from Paris to Vernon and then a bus to Giverny – I recommend taking an organized tour from Paris . It’s cheaper, quicker, and saves you tons of time and stress.

As Giverny is not too far from Paris, it makes a perfect half-day trip from Paris . Especially if you are short of time. You also have the option to combine the Gardens of Monet with the Versailles Castles . It lies on the way, and the castle gardens are also a great destination when visiting Paris in springtime.

This digital art center is one of Paris’ most popular museums. It opened in April 2018 and is sold-out weeks in advance ever since! Check here if they have tickets left on your dates.

The first immersive show dealt with installations of Hundertwasser and Gustave Klimt, and due to its success, it was followed by Van Gogh in 2019, Monet, Renoir, and Chagall in 2020, and Gaudì and Dalì in 2021.

It’s my all-time first recommendation for everyone who travels to Paris: Take a cruise on the Seine . It’s a budget-friendly and most fantastic activity . The change of perspective is mind-blowing and truly enriches the “feel” for Paris. A cruise is especially nice during springtime in Paris – you can sit outside and enjoy the warm spring sun while being completely in awe.

#5 Enjoy the Parisian Parks and the Spring Blossoms

Oh, all the lush greens and a million blossoms… springtime in Paris is just so beautiful. Paris has 421 parks and gardens, from little public yards to world-known gardens like the Jardin du Luxembourg or the Champs de Mars. It’s inevitable that you will walk through a few during your time in Paris. However, some parks are so beautiful, that they deserve the extra trip. Especially if you are in Paris in the springtime. The following are my favorites:

• The promenade plantée (The Parisian high line)

Good to know : the beginning of April is the best time to see the Cherry Blossom . But if you are visiting Paris in March , prepare to see beautiful Magnolias!

#6 Take an outdoor Apéro

Apéro is without exaggeration the best culinary invention of the French , I am sure you love it. It’s drinks and nibbles that you enjoy before dinner. Usually in the company of friends or family and the perfect excuse reason for having a drink.

While you can have an apéro in France at any time of the year, it’s just better in spring. Like everything 😉

Spring in Paris is the time when the apéro moves from inside an apartment to the outside.  People are meeting in cafés and on patios, in parks and gardens, at the Seine river banks.

The setting is always the same: A bottle of wine, a couple of beers and chips, nuts, fruits, cold cuts.. whatever you like to nibble.

I usually just grab some drinks and snacks at a nearby store 🙂  But if that’s not your style, don’t worry: Apéros are offered in as good as any bar in Paris and there are quite a few nice ones along the Seine river banks as well.

Paris is a foodie paradise; hence it’s not surprising that you’ll find local food markets and delicacy shops on every corner. There are so many that it’s hard to tell – and to know – which are actually the excellent ones. Ok, to be fair, even the random ones usually come as a treat. 

Where can you find high-quality chocolates? Where the best cheese, and what about those Macarons? You really need to know your hood to find the best products and the finest tastes – or you rely on the knowledge of a friendly Parisian that shows you around and fills you in. #8 Play Pétanque  

Imagine a shadowy square. Sycamore trees are hiding the sun, and a light breeze rustles through the leaves. A group of people is chatting away and taking turns in throwing a silver, shiny ball. .. Well, what sounds like a very French cliché is actually happening daily in almost every park in Paris: Pétanque.

The boule game belongs to the French culture like the baguette, red wine, and cheese . You can play the game throughout the year, but it’s especially agreeable in Paris in the spring – when everyone enjoys immensely being outside again.

A very popular spot to play Pétanque is the Arène des Lutèces and the Luxembourg Gardens. However, you have to bring your game though, you can get Pétanque set here.

#9 Walk up Belleville and Enjoy the View

Paris has few hills, 5 to be exact. However, only 2 are making it to a height of 130 m – the famous hill of Montmartre and the lesser-known Belleville . The latter is under the radar of most Paris visitors and impresses with local charms and beautiful panoramic views over Paris.

The area around Belleville will surprise you. It has not much in common with the rest of Paris and is also home to some of Paris’ finest street art. I recently joined a street art tour in Belleville and can only recommend it.

Belleville is perfect for setting off for a stroll to explore a Paris off the beaten track .

The heart of the district is the Parc de Belleville that stretches along the west side of the hill and makes a really nice walk until the summit.

#10 Don’t miss the TOP Sights in Paris in Spring

If you visit Paris in the spring, know that it’s not the low season. Not only is spring – in my humble opinion – the nicest time to visit, but as you know it is also the season with the most bank holidays in France.

In other words: there will be quite a few people in town, and you definitely need to make your reservations before you arrive. That the Eiffel Tower or the Catacombs are easily sold-out days, if not weeks in advance, isn’t a surprise, but did you know that even the Louvre can be full?

Springtime in Paris starts on the 20th of March 2020 and ends on the 20th of June 2023 .

The weather is rather mild, but do pack a sweater, a light jacket, and a light scarf, especially if you are traveling at the beginning of spring. If your travel time is May or June, you can leave your scarf at home but bring a few t-shirts instead! Spring is also one of the wettest seasons and it’s best to have an umbrella with you at all times.

The peak time for flower blooming is usually the beginning of April

Paris is incredible any time of year, but it looks spectacular in spring. I would love to visit. When we went in July a few years ago, they were having a heatwave and it was 105!! Not pleasant. LOL!

It's the stuff of legend and of songs — Paris in the springtime. There's something special about being in Paris as the weather warms up, the days get longer, and the first flowers start to bloom. It's a time to store your winter coat, get outside, and take in all the city has to offer. The luscious Jardin des Plantes should be on every visitor's springtime list. The pathways and allées are crowded with shrubs, flowers, and trees in early bloom. But to our mind the most iconic is the large tree with snow white flowers.

The best view is from the pathway that comes in from the Pont d'Austerlitz entrance, with the Grande Galerie de l'Évolution in the background. After the overcast skies and short days of winter, a bright day in late March or early April magically draws Parisian to visit this harbinger of better days to come.

"Snow white" is the perfect descriptor for this flowering tree. In case you're interested, this is a cherry tree of the Japanese Prunus group called Shirotae , which means "snow white" in Japanese. It's not one of the tallest trees in the jardin , at something under 4 metres tall (less than 13 feet), but it has a circumference of 18 metres. The photo above is from March 27, 2012.

This is what might be called a no brainer. In the spring, from March 21 onwards, the parks in Paris come to life, day by day, leaf by leaf. It's a glorious feeling to stroll in the sunlight along the tree-lined pathways seeing the fresh green shoots reaching out. Just about any park will do, but this is a great time of the year to take in the Big Two — Jardin des Tuileries in the 1st Arrondissement and Jardin du Luxembourg in the 6th.

3. Visit Claude Monet's Gardens at Giverny

An hour from Paris, at Giverny, the famous gardens of Claude Monet come alive starting in late March. The gardeners have been busy preparing the plants, pathways, and lily pads for springtime viewing. It's an easy day trip from Paris, with plenty of time to explore Monet's house and gardens, including the famous lily pond.

Even more popular is an activity that combines Monet's gardens at Giverny with a visit to the gardens & chateau of Versailles — all in the same day. Nine of the best things to do in Paris in spring – discover why Paris makes a great springtime break with its pastel blossoms, street markets, festivals and chocolate-fuelled Easter celebrations.

Sandwiched between the chill of winter and the crowds of summer, spring is when Paris bursts with new life in its gardens, street markets and café terraces. Add a sprinkle of pretty pastel blossoms, lush green parks, a dash of romance, chocolate-fuelled Easter celebrations and special cultural events and you’ve got a season packed with Parisian pleasures.

But what are the essential experiences you shouldn’t miss if you’re visiting Paris in springtime? Here are nine of my favourite things to do in Paris in spring.

What’s Paris’ spring weather like?

The weather in Paris in spring is starting to warm up. Temperatures rise from an average high of 13°C (55°F) in March to 20°C (68°F) in May, with overnight lows ranging from 5–11°C (41–52°F). It’s a great time to explore the city before it gets too hot – or busy.

You will need some warm layers for the evenings though, particularly if you’re visiting early in the season. There’s even a French saying to warn you that “ En avril, ne te decouvre pas d’un fil ” – in April, don’t remove a thread (of clothing). And pack an umbrella or raincoat as there are around 10 days of rainfall a month, with the highest levels in May.

Things to do in Paris in the spring

1. Check out the spring blooms

From trees draped in blossom to immaculately manicured gardens planted with rows of tulips, Paris’ spring blooms add a sprinkle of colour to the city. The pink cherry blossoms are a photographers’ favourite, and you’ll find crowds gathering in popular spots.

Cherry trees usually flower in April, though when exactly depends on the weather. The Trocadero Gardens, Parc du Champ-de-Mars by the Eiffel Tower and Square Jean XXIII by Notre Dame Cathedral (access currently limited after the fire) all have beautiful blooms.

Or if you go a bit further afield there’s a whole cherry orchard at the Parc de Sceaux. This 440-acre park was designed by Andre Le Nôtre, who also created the gardens at the Palace of Versailles, and is a 25-minute journey on RER line B from central Paris.

There are also beautiful magnolia and wisteria flowers, as well as floral displays at the city’s parks, which are splashed with colour from their tulips, daffodils and peonies. My favourite spots are the Luxembourg Gardens and Jardin des Plantes. Or head to the Marché aux Fleurs on the Île de la Cité to buy yourself a bouquet at the daily flower market.

2. Join in the Easter celebrations

Celebrate Easter at some of Paris’ most famous churches and chapels. At the stunning Gothic Saint-Chapelle you can listen to a concert of music by Mozart, Bach and Handel set against the backdrop of the chapel’s 600-square-metre stained glass windows.

You can also join a church service on Easter Sunday (31 March 2024). As well as services in French at Paris’ major churches like Sacré Coeur Basilica and the Église Saint Germain des Prés, there are English-language services at Paris’ American Cathedral, American Church, Trinity International Church, St Joseph’s Catholic Church and Scots Kirk.

3. Feast on chocolate

Easter’s also the perfect excuse to feast on chocolate, and the edible works of art from Paris’ top chocolatiers are almost too beautiful to eat. They’re worth visiting for their window displays alone, with ornately decorated eggs and chocolate sculptures. Look for Jeff de Bruges and La Maison du Chocolat shops, or visit Galeries Lafayette department store.

But if you’re a real chocolate lover, head to Saint-Germain-des-Prés . This is where you’ll find high-end chocolatiers Jean-Charles Rochoux (Rue d’Assas), Chocolats Richart and Patrick Roger (both Boulevard Saint-Germain) – as well as Pierre Hermé, who creates delicious chocolate creations as well as his signature macarons (Rue Bonaparte).

You can take a chocolate and patisserie -themed walking tour * of Saint-Germain. Or if you want to try making your own chocolates, Le Musée du Chocolat Choco-Story near Strasbourg Saint-Denis Métro runs chocolate-making workshops * and tastings.

4. Stay up all night at the Nuit des Musées

Get a dose of culture after dark at the Nuit des Musées – Night of the Museums. For the last 19 years, Paris’ museums have been staying open late into the night on the third Saturday in May (18 May in 2024) as part of a special event taking place across Europe.

Over 150 Parisian museums and galleries join in the event, including big names like the Louvre, Musée d’Orsay, Pompidou Centre and Museum of Modern Art. The museums taking part are free to enter for the night, but there are also special events put on for the evening, like film screenings, concerts, performances, tours and kids’ activities.

On a warm night it’s a nice way to spend a few hours, strolling between different museums, trying out a few unusual ones and stopping for food and drinks along the way.

5. Shop the street markets

Spring in Paris is the perfect time to visit a farmers’ market and shop for new-season produce like asparagus, artichokes and rhubarb. Each neighbourhood has its own, but some of the best (and most charming) are Marché Bastille, Marché Mouffetard, Marché d’Aligre, Marché des Enfants Rouges and market/shopping street hybrid Rue Montorgueil.

Or go bargain hunting at a flea market – marché des puces . They’re a real treasure trove where you never know what you’ll find, from vintage clothes to antiques glassware. The Marché aux Puces de Saint-Ouen is the city’s biggest and busiest, with 2500 stalls.

The market is broken down into different streets selling different things, but be prepared to bargain hard for a deal. Or you can take a tour * with a guide who’ll show you how to find the best buys. You can also try the less touristy Porte de Vanves or Montreuil markets.

6. Stroll through Rodin’s sculpture garden

If it’s too nice a day to spend inside a museum, you can soak up both Parisian culture and sunshine in the sculpture gardens of the Musée Rodin . This 19th-century mansion was where sculptor August Rodin lived and worked in the latter part of his life, and was turned into a museum with his sculptures, drawings and photographs on display inside.

But the highlight is the seven acres of gardens outside the museum, which feature some of Rodin’s most famous works including The Thinker , The Gates of Hell and The Monument to the Burghers of Calais , all set along plants, flowers and shady trees.

7. Listen to live jazz

Soak up some live music on a spring afternoon at the annual Festival Jazz à Saint-Germain-des-Prés (13–21 May in 2024). The event has been held in the area since 2001 and has a mix of free and paid-for shows, with both big international names and emerging talent.

There are outdoor events in the Place Saint-Germain-des-Prés as well as concerts in interesting venues like the Odéon Theatre, Sorbonne University and Maison de l’Océan.

8. Experience Paris’ café culture

Sitting out in the sunshine, drinking a cup of coffee or a glass of rosé and watching the world go by is one of the pleasures of spring in Paris. You’ll find people packing the city’s café terraces all through the year, but springtime is one of the best times to join them.

You can’t walk 100 metres in Paris without coming across a café, but for peak springtime scenery, head inside Paris’ parks. Among the lawns, pathways and boules pitches you’ll find spots like Café Renard in the Tuileries Gardens or La Terrasse de Madame in the Luxembourg Gardens where you can relax with a drink or bite to eat.

9. See the fountains at Versailles

The lavish 17th-century Palace of Versailles is just 12 miles outside of Paris so makes a great day trip from the city. One of the largest palaces in the world, it was transformed from a hunting lodge to the French royal family’s primary residence by Louis XIV.

The interiors drip with gilt, mirrors, marble and carvings. But the palace is also famous for its beautifully landscaped gardens which stretch over almost 2000 acres and include 55 elaborate fountains. From April to October, the fountains come alive to the sounds of Baroque music for the Grandes Eaux Musicales musical fountains show .

The show takes place on Saturdays and Sundays (plus Tuesdays from 7 May–25 June). Pick up a map and follow the route around the gardens, ending up at the Neptune fountain in time for the grand finale. The palace can get really busy, especially during the Easter holidays, but you can dodge the worst of the queues with a skip-the-line * ticket.

Spring is really the nicest time of the year, especially in Paris! The trees are already starting to be in bloom and the terraces are filling slowly :) I hope the garden in front of Notre Dame will open soon again - they are supposed to at least - and that the cherry trees didn't take any damage during the fire.

Hi Lucy, I am so glad that i cam across your blog. I hope to be travelling to Paris next May and would also like to visit Amsterdam ( in essence, I wanna get in my money's worth). I have read about travelling via Paris to Amsterdam with a train.

Would you recommend this? Is there any other way to travel from Paris to Amsterdam that is cost effective?

Hi, yes the train is probably going to be the quickest and easiest way – it takes around 3.5–5 hours and costs from €35 but best to book in advance to get the best prices, tickets normally go on sale 3-4 months in advance.

Spring in Paris is unlike any other season. Flowers start to bloom again, and the city seems to come alive with new energy. There is something special about Paris in the springtime; it’s like nothing else exists.

I was lucky enough to enjoy a Paris spring during my visit to France while studying abroad in Dublin . It truly was the most gorgeous weather, and lines were nowhere near as long as I heard they could be if I were to visit during the summer months.

Throughout this post, you’ll learn all about the best things to do during springtime in Paris. From visiting historical landmarks to enjoying the beautiful weather by going on a tour, this list does have something for everyone.

Spring in Paris Activities

Visit the notre dame cathedral.

One of the top things to do during spring time in Paris is to pay a visit to the Notre Dame Cathedral . It’s genuinely one of the most important landmarks throughout the city.

The Notre Dame Cathedral is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Paris, and for a good reason. The cathedral is beautiful inside and out, and it offers visitors a chance to truly step back in time, even if you can only see it from the outside. In fact, seeing it from the outside is one of the top free things to do in Paris .

There are also plenty of shops and restaurants nearby, so visitors can easily spend an entire day exploring Notre Dame Cathedral and the surrounding area.

During the time of my visit in 2019, visitors were allowed to sign up to go into the tower and take in the view from the top of the cathedral. Hopefully, this (or something similar) will be open to the public again after restorations.

Snap a Photo at the Eiffel Tower

Obviously, one of the best Paris Instagram spots is no other than the Eiffel Tower . This is the landmark to visit while in Paris, and it’s almost always busy.

Paris is known for its stunning architecture and picturesque scenery. There’s no better place to take in the city’s beauty than at the Eiffel Tower. The tower is lit up every night, making it a must-see attraction during any season.

The perfect time to visit the Eiffel Tower is during spring in Paris. Snap a photo of this iconic landmark , and you’ll always remember your trip!

For an unforgettable experience, you can also consider going to the top of the Eiffel Tower. It’s best to try to reserve this in advance. You can see all of the beautiful parks and riverfronts that make up this iconic cityscape from the tower.

See the Cherry Blossoms

Springtime in Paris is a memorable experience. The city wakes up from its winter slumber, the flowers start to bloom, and the trees are covered in blossoms.

There are many spots throughout Paris to find cherry blossoms. Some great spots to go to include the Champs de Mars, Tuileries Gardens, Parc Monceau, and Palais Royal. Sometimes you can also find them up and down the Seine River.

Note that there is a pretty specific window of time to see the cherry blossoms in Paris in the springtime, and the time truly does vary by year, which makes it hard to plan. Generally, it’s from early March to the end of April. To avoid crowds, try to find them during the week. This will allow you to get better pictures!

Go on a Seine River Cruise

There’s no better way to take in the beauty of Paris in the spring than by cruising down the Seine River! The river winds its way through the heart of the city, providing picturesque views of world-famous landmarks like the Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame Cathedral. 

A leisurely cruise is a perfect way to spend a spring day in Paris – enjoy a glass of wine or a bite to eat as you take in the sights and sounds of this fantastic city.

The Marina de Paris Seine River Cruise is an excellent option if you want a romantic cruise for spring in Paris. It’s an hour and a half long and includes dinner, beverages, and incredible views along the way.

Another great option is this Seine River Cruise which is during the day and includes the Paris canals. This tour is a bit longer and lasts about two and a half hours. Plus, there is excellent commentary along the way.

Marvel at History in the Louvre Museum

The Louvre Museum is one of the most popular tourist destinations globally, and with good reason. The museum is home to a vast array of art and artifacts, but it’s also located in one of the most beautiful scenic parts of Paris .

The museum is home to some of the most famous artworks in history, including Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa. In addition to its collection of ancient and Renaissance art, the museum also has extensive holdings from other periods, including French Impressionism and Post-Impressionism.

If you do plan on visiting The Louvre, make sure you give yourself ample time, as the museum is actually huge. You’ll also want to get there earlier in the morning to avoid the crowds, especially the ones that occur around Mona Lisa.

Relax in the Luxembourg Gardens

The Luxembourg Gardens are a wonderful place to spend a spring day in Paris. The gardens are full of beautiful flowers and trees, and there is plenty of space to relax and enjoy the sunshine.

The gardens are also home to a playground, a pond, and several restaurants, making them perfect for families or those who want to explore Paris’ green spaces.

What makes it even better is that there are many benches throughout the park, too so you can honestly sit and relax. Consider bringing a book to read while enjoying the spring weather at the Luxembourg Gardens.

Take in the View from the Sacre Coeur Basilica

One of the most popular tourist destinations to visit during spring in Paris is the Sacre Coeur Basilica. The view from the top of the Basilica is stunning, and it’s a great place to people-watch. In the springtime, when the trees are starting to bloom and the flowers are in bloom, it’s an especially beautiful sight.

Truthfully, you can also get a great view without even going into the church. Right in front of the church is a beautiful view of Montmartre and the rest of the city. There are also telescopes so you can see further out if needed.

In addition, there are many spots to sit and relax here if you’d like, and there are often some food trucks in the area too, where you can grab a bite to eat.

Explore the Arc de Triomphe

The Arc de Triomphe is a must-see for anyone visiting the city. It’s one of the largest monuments in Paris. Climb to the top for some fantastic views of the city. If you’re lucky, you might even glimpse the Eiffel Tower.

Even if you don’t have time to climb to the top, it’s still worth visiting to see it in person. Be sure to walk up to it and also snap some photos from across the street . It’s truly a sight to behold, especially if you’ve seen it before in Parisian movies on television.

Attend a Cooking Class

Paris is a city that is known for its food. It has something for everyone, from the simple croissants and baguettes to the more complex dishes. If you are looking to learn how to cook some of these amazing dishes or even just want to learn more about French cuisine, consider attending a cooking class.

There are many different cooking classes available in Paris. You can find classes that focus on specific types of cuisine, such as French or Italian food, or you can find general cooking classes that will teach you how to make a variety of dishes. 

Classes are typically 2-3 hours long and include a demonstration from the instructor and time for students to practice what they have learned. Attending a cooking class is a great way to learn more about French cuisine and meet other people interested in cooking.

This Paris Cooking Class is an excellent option for a lovely French dinner. It lasts about four to six hours long and includes a starter, a main, and a dessert. Specifically, choose the six-hour option if you really want also to include a visit to a French market.

For a more sweet time, consider booking this Paris Macaron Class . Throughout the three hours, you’ll make this classic French treat from scratch.

Have a Picnic in a Paris Park

There are many great places to have a picnic in Paris, but one of the best places is on the banks of the Seine River. The view of Notre Dame Cathedral across the river is breathtaking, and there are always plenty of people around to watch and enjoy. 

Another excellent spot for a picnic is in one of the city’s many parks. The Luxembourg Gardens or Jardin du Tuileries are both wonderful choices, and they’re both close to some of Paris’ best museums. 

And if you’re looking for a quiet spot away from the crowds, there are plenty of gardens and squares all over Paris where you can spread out your blanket and enjoy a delicious meal al fresco.

Go on a Day Trip to Versailles

When the weather starts to warm up in Paris, there’s no better way to spend a spring day than by taking a trip out to Versailles . The Palace of Versailles is just a short train ride from the city and is definitely worth a visit. 

The gardens are stunning in the springtime, and there’s plenty to see inside the palace as well. A day trip to Versailles is the perfect way to escape the hustle and bustle of Paris for a while and enjoy some peace and quiet in nature.

If you’d rather visit Versailles on a budget, then be sure to just go to the gardens because they are completely free to visit. If you want to go to the palace, make your ticket reservation in advance and get there right when they open.

Try Macarons

If there’s one thing that Paris is known for, it’s the endless array of delicious pastries and desserts. From croissants to éclairs, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. But if you’re looking for a uniquely Parisian pastry experience, you can’t go wrong with a macaron. Macarons are delicate meringue cookies filled with flavored cream, and they come in a wide variety of flavors and colors.

There are countless places to find macarons in Paris, but if you’re looking for the best of the best, here are a few spots worth checking out. 

Ladurée is arguably the most famous macaron maker in Paris, and their boutiques are always crowded with tourists and locals alike. A more affordable option that I personally loved is Maison Georges Larnicol which has a few spots throughout the city.

Final Thoughts: Paris in Spring

Paris in springtime is a magical place. The city is alive with color and activity, and the weather is perfect for sightseeing and enjoying the outdoors. Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a seasoned pro, be sure to add Paris to your list of destinations for a spring vacation.

What to do in Paris in the Spring

Spring is one of my favorite times to visit Paris. The city comes alive as soon as the weather breaks, the cafés are complete, and the city is buzzing with energy. It starts to warm up towards the end of March in early spring and gets hot towards the end of April. Remember that every year is different; it snowed on April 1st in Paris last year, and the first two weeks were freezing and rainy. It is always good to check the forecast before you go because the weather can be unpredictable. Below are my favorite activities for what to do in Paris in the spring.

What to Pack for Paris in the Spring

Layers are essential when it comes to packing in the spring. For jackets, I recommend a leather jacket and a trench coat. If it is frigid, you can always layer the leather jacket under the trench, which I have done in the past. A scarf is great as an accessory and for keeping warm on chilly days. Comfortable walking shoes are a must. There are several ways to get around Paris, but walking is one of my favorite ways. Sneakers are a hot item right now; you won’t feel out of place walking around them. Vejas and these Madewell sneakers are blog reader favorites. Galleries Lafayette or BHV are two Paris department stores with anything you need if you forget to pack something.

Rainy Day Paris Activities

A few rainy days will always be in Paris, especially during the spring. Rainy days are a perfect time to explore the Paris passages . Most of them run from the 9th arrondissement to the center of Paris, leading you to Palais Royal through Galerie Vivienne.

Plan activities indoors, as well as rainy days, are expected in the spring. Museums book quickly when rain is forecast, so plan and buy tickets. One of my favorite ways to escape the rain is to duck under a café terrace and people-watch. Bookshops are also a great spot to escape for an afternoon. Merci Bookshop is an excellent spot in the Marais. You can check out this post for other ideas on what to do in Paris when it rains.

Enjoy a glass of rosé on a terrace.

Rosé season begins just as the Paris weather starts to warm up. Order a glass of rosé at just about any café in Paris. I recommend choosing one that has an active terrace or street to watch the world go by. This is a great afternoon activity in Paris, and it lets your feet rest after a day of walking or sightseeing. Not a rosé fan, but do not worry; you can order a coke or one of my favorites, citron pressé, which is fresh lemonade. The waiter will bring over a small glass of fresh lemon juice, a carafe of water, and some sugar. Pour and mix to your desired taste.

Pro tip: you will have the terrace table for as long as you want once you find the perfect place for a drink. Once you order something from the waiter, it will be up to you to ask for the bill. It isn’t like in the US, where they will rush you off to turn your table. Simply ask for “l’addition, s’il vous plaît?” To pay by card, they will bring a small portable machine over to tap to pay or insert your chip. Cash is also accepted. You will want to leave a few euros for your waiter for good service.

Stroll Through Jardin des Tuileries

The Tuileries garden is just in front of the Louvre museum. If some people in your group want to enjoy the Louvre, you can enjoy the park in the center of Paris. As I noticed during my visit in January, part of the garden is under construction. Hopefully, it will be up and running towards the end of spring for you to enjoy it during your visit. This part of Paris is a beautiful place to kick up your feet at the fountain and sit in the green chairs.

Picnic on the River Seine

Grab a bottle of wine, a baguette, and your favorite cheeses, and picnic on the Seine river. Ask the wine shop to uncork a bottle; some will even have plastic cups for you. Those of you staying in an apartment can borrow the wine opener and glasses. (make sure to return them) Watch the sunset from the banks of the Seine, and people watch. Make friends with locals or other travelers while enjoying your Seine picnic. Watch your belongings, as those unattended can get picked up while you aren’t looking.

Read a book in Luxembourg Gardens.

Luxembourg Gardens is a favorite Paris garden on the Left Bank of Paris. Traveling with kids? You can push boats around in the pond for a small fee which will entertain them. Grab an empty green chair and stay a while, read a book, or pack a picnic. There will be plenty of people watching to keep you entertained. Don’t forget the sunscreen!

Visit the Marais on a Sunday

Sunday is one of the best days to visit the Marais; the area is full of energy, musicians, and cafés. Some of my favorite places to stay in the Marais include Place des Vosges, a little park in the center, great for little ones to play for a bit or have a picnic on the grass. The Bastille Market is nearby, a great place to pick up picnic essentials. Rue de Rosiers has the famous falafel restaurant L’As du Fallafel, which is a great cheap eat but comes with long lines. Where to Visit Rooftop Bars in Paris

There are so many rooftop bars popping up in Paris. You can visit a rooftop at Galleries Lafayette and Printemps for a great view of the center of the city and the Eiffel Tower. Kimpton Paris St Honore had a great rooftop with a view of the city. Hotel Madame Rêve has a beautiful rooftop in central Paris with a great perspective of the city’s architecture and fun drinks. For other spots, visit Le Perchoir on the top of BHV, which overlooks Hôtel de Ville. Also nearby is Cheval Blanc offers a great view of Paris over Pont Neuf to the Eiffel Tower.

Soak up the Marais on a Sunday

Visit the Bastille market like a local, grab a drink on an outdoor terrace, or visit Place des Vosges. Discover my guide to the Marais is here for more ideas.

Get Berthillon Ice Cream

There are a few spots to get Berthillon ice cream, with the original location on Ile st Louis. The lines will be extended on the weekend, so I highly recommend going on an off time or weekday. Chocolate noir and framboise (raspberry) are my top choices. île St Louis is located in the heart of the city and is worth the visit to walk around the island. Check out Noir coffee , order a street crêpe, or enjoy the terrace at Café St Regis.

Seine River Cruises in Paris

A great activity with kids is a Seine river cruise in Paris. Spend an hour off your feet and discover a different perspective of Paris. For those of you who are short on time or have already been to the top of the Eiffel Tower, this is a great way to see the city of light. For Seine River cruise options, take the Batobus , a hop-on hop-off experience that will run you around 20 euros for adults and gives you access to different drop-off points at various Paris monuments for 24 hours.

Bateaux-Mouches are larger boats and run every 45 minutes, and the total cruise time run is 1 hour and 10 minutes. The price is 15 euros for adults and 6 euros for kids. I vote for a cruise at sunset if you are looking for something romantic.

Where to Visit a Brocante (Flea Market) in Paris

A Brocante is a flea market. In Paris, they have them every weekend in a different arrondissement. I wish I could bring everything home: dishes, glassware, and the incredible gold mirrors. Even if you can’t get it all home, it’s fun to look at. You will find this post helpful if you want to discover a Brocante in Paris. There are also designated areas in Paris towards the city’s north that have flea markets every weekend. A Brocante is a great place to browse antiques and small collectibles. I have fallen in love with large mirrors, frames, and leather chairs; they will happily help you bring it all home for an extra shipping cost.

Shop a Paris Food Market

Make a visit to a food market in Paris for fresh fruits, vegetables, and meats. You don’t have to have a kitchen to enjoy a food market in Paris. Pick up meats, cheeses, and a baguette and make a picnic. Experience French culture this way and how the Parisians live and shop. Visit this post to see how to shop a French market like a local.

How to Flâneur in Paris

Flâneur means to wander without a purpose and is one of my favorite things to do in Paris. No agenda; stroll the streets, observe, and people-watch. Pick a neighborhood and explore and soak up the culture and the city.

Explore the Neighborhood of Montmartre

Montmartre will always have a special place in my heart because that is where I had my first apartment many years ago. The neighborhood has a lot of memories as my Paris story took shape. It is a destination but worth making a trip out of it. SoPi, south of Pigalle, has become a favorite place to hang out in Paris. The location is close to Montmartre, and the area is booming with restaurants and shops. Le Bon Georges is close by for lunch or dinner and is a fantastic French bistro.

Soak up Cherry Blossom Season

First comes the magnolia trees; second to bloom are the cherry blossoms, and then the chestnut blossoms. It’s a magical time in Paris to see everything in bloom. The parks and hidden spots all around Paris have their series of flowers. Go off the beaten path and discover something new in a different part of Paris. Just beyond the Sorbonne in the 5th arrondissement, you will find Jardin des Plantes. There will be one of the best spots in Paris to see the city in bloom. There are some of the largest cherry trees in blossom you will see right in the heart of Jardin des Plantes, and the garden is a free activity. Break up the day with kids and visit the carousel inside the park or stop by the Natural History Museum or Zoo.

Musée Rodin

Musée Rodin is a perfect spot to escape the rain or enjoy the gardens on a warm sunny day. The fee is a few euros to visit the garden and worth checking out. Inside the garden, there are sculptures, and in the summer, the park is filled with roses. Stop by Café Varenne before or after for lunch or a glass of wine.

Off the Beaten Path Paris: Spend an Afternoon Exploring Canal St-Martin

Canal Saint-Martin is a bit off the beaten path regarding the famous landmarks you would typically visit in Paris. It is worth visiting once you have knocked some other spots off your list. Take a boat ride down the canals, picnic, or stroll along. Restaurants and shops line the canals and are a great way to fill an afternoon in Paris.

Day Trips from Paris

Explore outside of Paris by train for a day or afternoon. Some of the best places to take a day trip outside of Paris include The Palace of Versailles, Giverny, and The Loire Valley. Versailles is a quick train ride away, and if you have the museum pass, this is included as part of your ticket. Fat Tire tours also offer a grand tour of Versailles, consisting of the palace and a bike ride around the town and the grounds.

Champagne is a two-hour train ride by the train to Reims. Book a tour or two at a champagne house which you can reach from the city center.

Parc de Sceaux, about a 30-minute train ride outside of Paris on the RER. In the height of cherry blossom season, you can picnic under a field of blossoms. I had the opportunity to do this a few years ago, and it was raining. Leave it to me to be determined to have this experience. I pushed through solo and still loved every minute of it. It is recommended to do this on sunny days if your schedule permits. There were pockets of sunshine between the rain storms, and it was one of my favorite Paris memories. Tucked just outside of the city center of Paris, this is one of the best things you can do in Paris in the spring.

I greatly enjoy your posts! I must share this with you… I happened to google a question…Why do some people NOT want to travel to Paris? I was then horrified about all of the comments about breathing in cigarette smoke everywhere, dodging all of the dog poo on the streets, people urinating on the streets, the Seine smelling like urine… Have to admit, I think I’ll head for Quebec countryside 😳.

Paris is a beautiful city, and it’s also the capital city of France . While it’s a great place to visit year-round, visiting Paris in the spring is a fantastic sight. Spring time in Paris is truly remarkable; you’ll find it full of flowers, trees, lively crowds and an overall fantastic atmosphere.

The weather starts to clear up after the cold winter months, leaving you with the wonderful scents as the spring flowers start to bloom. What could be better than witnessing the changing of seasons from frost to flower? 

Spring is truly a magical time in Paris. Here’s everything you need to know about travelling to Paris in the spring time.

Paris weather in spring

Spring in Paris is one of the most popular times of year to visit, and the season lasts from March to May. You can expect Paris weather in spring to start out chilly, with highs of 54°F/12°C in March, 61°F / 16°C in April and 68°F / 20°C in May. 

The average lows for March are 41°F/5°C, you can expect 45°F/7°C lows in April and 52°F/11°C lows in May. As you can see, the weather warms up in May but remains cool throughout the season, especially at night. Don’t forget to pack warm clothes for your Paris weather in spring, especially if you visit in March. We highly recommend traveling with Merino wool clothes as they work well for all weather types.

Tips for visiting the “city of love” in the spring 

Having a Paris spring is nothing short of amazing. Still, there are some things you should know before visiting to make your holiday and planning process more enjoyable.

• Paris is always busy, no matter what time of year you decide to visit. This is especially true when you book tickets for a significant landmarks or museums. You’ll likely need to book for famous sights like the Eiffel Tower or Catacombs weeks in advance. Social distancing measures have also limited the number of visitors allowed per day, and some ticket booths are even closed. So make sure to book your tickets ahead of time!
• Book a central hotel. Paris is a beautiful city for walking around at any time of day. Spring is even better, as it offers cherry blossoms, sunshine and a fantastic atmosphere. There are many great forms of accommodation , from hotels to guest houses and apartments. 
• There are a lot of public holidays during spring time in Paris. The high season really kicks off in April, and Easter is the first major holiday of the year for the French. You can expect Paris to be especially crowded during the Easter holidays, as well as holidays like Labour Day and Victory Day in early May. 
• Be prepared for flexibility on short notice. Spring time brings unpredictable weather with it. While it’s rare that you’d lose a whole day to rain, it could definitely ruin your plans to walk in Monet’s Gardens or other outdoor activities in Paris. 
• Pack enough to keep warm. While Paris in the spring is not the coldest time of year, it sometimes shows off its four seasons in a day. Packing a lightweight jacket, like a puffer or down jacket, should be enough to keep you out of the cold that you’ll find in a Paris spring. Paris has rightfully earned its popularity as one of the most famous cities in the world. Naturally, the number of things to do in Paris is nearly endless. While you don’t need to specifically wait to visit Paris in the spring, some places and activities are much nicer when visiting in the spring time.

• If you are an art lover, you need to visit the Atelier des Lumières and the Louvre . The Palais Royal is an elegant and historical building offering covered galleries worth a visit. 
• There are many other notable museums in Paris, such as the Musée d’Orsay , Centre Pompidou , Musée du Quai Branly and many more.
• Since Paris has pleasant spring weather, you might enjoy a sightseeing bike tour . If you don’t feel confident on your own, you can book a guided bike tour of Paris to give you the best overview of the city.

Monet’s Garden in Giverny is considered to be one of France’s most beautiful gardens. Giverny is where Monet settled at the end of the 19th century and painted his famous white water lilies that grew in the garden’s pond. I always find Paris in the springtime to be glorious. The winter freeze has left the city, flowers and trees are in bloom and the terrace and park life we all love about Paris picks back up in a big way. There’s so much to see and do and I’m lucky enough to have experienced many of the best things to do in Paris in the Spring.

The city seems to totally come alive and all the Parisians flood the parks and the banks of the Seine and the energy is electric around the City of Love. I personally soak up the warm springtime sunshine and a return to rosé season and ice cream weather and once you’ve experience Spring in Paris – you may just get hooked on it!

18 Best   Things  To  Do  In  Paris In Spring

I love Paris in the spring because it is still technically off season and so the crowds are a bit less than if you were to visit in the summer. The weather begins to warm up and there is suddenly even more to see and do and experience when visiting. 

I always say there is no bad time to visit Paris, but truly Paris in the spring is so iconic songs have been written about it. 

When Is The  Best  Time  To  Go  To   Paris ?

I personally love visiting Paris in May and early June. April is also lovely albeit suffers from a bit more rainy weather typically. No doubt though Paris remains one of the most popular times for my En Route to Rêverie clients to visit and there’s so many reasons as to why.

As you begin to plan for your trip to Paris in the Spring, did you know that according to Expedia international airfare should be booked around 60 days out (and no more than 4 months out) for optimal availability and savings (around 10% on average)? 

For airfare specifically, Expedia’s Price Tracking in-app feature uses historical data (analyzing the last 30 days) and predicted price trends (analyzing the next 60 days) for select flight routes, to determine the best time to book. 

When you’re a One Key member ( Expedia Group’s Loyalty Program across Expedia , Hotels.com and Vrbo ), download the Expedia app and Expedia will keep track of flight pricing and prompt you as a member to log back into the app to get the best deal on your chosen route to Paris. Tick the option that says “Watch prices” to get notifications when the price goes up or down. This can be wonderful if you’re flexible on your month that you’re able to enjoy Paris in the Spring.

Expedia also offers Price Drop Protection. Price Drop Protection lets Expedia travelers get an automatic refund if the price of your flight becomes cheaper on Expedia after you book. This feature is available for a nominal fee, or it is free for Gold and Platinum tier One Key members on the Expedia app. One Key is free to join and comes with plenty of perks to make it worthwhile.

Now, read on below for some of my favorite things to do while in Paris in the spring.

Take in the Cherry Blossoms

One of the best reasons to visit Paris in the springtime is it is the perfect time to take in the cherry blossoms across the city.

A few of the best places to view the cherry blossoms? Square Jean XXIII, the Champs de Mars, the Petit Palais, the Jardin des Plantes, along the edge of the front of Notre Dame Cathedral and the Palais Royal.

Rest in the Palais Royal

In addition to the cherry blossoms in the Palais Royal, the gardens also have beautiful magnolias in bloom in the springtime and I love sitting next to the park’s fountain on a warm, sunny day.

Grab a coffee nearby at several of my favorite coffee shops in Paris in the area.

Enjoy a Picnic on the Champs de Mars

A picnic in Paris is a favorite pastime and there is no shortage of amazing food you can pick up from local purveyors to round out your spread. I love getting baguettes, cheese, fresh fruit and wine along with sparkling water and grabbing a blanket and heading to the Champ de Mars underneath La Tour Eiffel.

The Champ de Mars is often in bloom with cherry blossoms in the spring so it is even more beautiful this time of year to picnic in. Plus what is better than watching the top of the Eiffel Tower while you enjoy French cheeses, fruits and good wine in a little picnic?

Consider a Day Trip

There are so many easy day trips from Paris. In the Springtime I think a visit to Monet’s former home and gardens at Giverny is particularly lovely as you get to experience the gardens as they begin to bloom. Giverny is a small village in Normandy in northern France and is accessible from Paris by a train ride that takes about 40 minutes.

Claude Monet lived and worked there from 1883 until his death in 1926. The artist’s former home and elaborate gardens, where he produced his famed water lily series, are now the Fondation Claude Monet museum. If you’re a fan of Monet’s art, it is a spectacular place to visit – especially as the gardens begin to bloom again after the winter cold.

Wander the Luxembourg Gardens

This is my personal favorite park in Paris . It shows off during all seasons but spending a day walking through it in Spring never gets old when the weather in Paris feels like a gift with blue skies and sunshine.

Take a Walking Tour

Taking a walking tour is an amazing way to be introduced to Paris or to learn more about the city that you may not have known before.

No matter what you are most interested in, I have a variety of great tour companies I recommend to my En Route to Rêverie clients.

Hang by the Seine

Come spring, Parisians are all ready to return to the banks of the Seine for glasses of wine and picnics. Join them and head to the many banks available for a hang out session.

Stroll the Open Air Markets

Paris has amazing open air markets on select days across the city. I adore exploring the various food stands and picking up items for a picnic. I also always love seeing the florals that the vendors have on display!

Get Berthillion Ice Cream

Berthillion ice cream is famed around Paris and you’ll find it offered at a variety of shops and restaurants. Springtime is the perfect time to return to  glace weather! My favorite flavors are framboise and chocolat.

Cruise down the Seine River

I never tire of a Bateaux Mouche ride down the Seine. It’s a lovely way to take in the city and learn a bit about its bridges, buildings and history.

Go on a Food Tour

There’s nothing like the amazing food in Paris and a great way to experience some of the best it has to offer is to take a food tour. A guide will take you around a neighborhood and introduce you to a bevy of treats.

Go to the Jardin des Plantes

Often overlooked for the Luxembourg Gardens and Tuileries Gardens, the Jardin des Plantes is a fun visit in the springtime as all the flowers and trees begin to be in bloom. C

reated in 1635 as a medicinal garden for Louis XIII, the Jardin des Plantes has been used throughout the centuries by botanists, doctors and pharmacists and today is home to botanicals gardens and even a zoo if you’re visiting Paris with kids in the springtime.

Better yet? The Jardin des Plantes is home to the largest cherry tree in Paris!

Explore the Arrondissements

Paris’s neighborhoods are all unique in their own and I personally love to get a coffee and croissant from a boulangerie and a local coffee shop in the morning and then head out to see where my feet take me. Think about doing so in the Latin Quarter, Saint Germain, Montmartre or Le Marais.

Visit a Rooftop Bar

There’s been loads of rooftop bars to crop up across Paris in the last decade and not all have to be super pricey any more as a result! Seek out some rooftop bars to enjoy beautiful views while you sip on a cocktail. The extra cost of the drink is worth a memorable view of Paris during your trip.

Take in Paris from Above

Spring in the City of Light is a great time for clear days to take in Paris from above. Consider a trip up the Eiffel Tower or the Arc de Triomphe.

Enjoy the Nuit des Musee

For one night only 2,200 museums in Europe, half of them in France alone, open their doors for free from sundown until roughly 1 am. There’s something so fun about seeing a museum after dark. This year’s event will take place on May 18, 2024.

Enjoy the Sunset from a Bridge

As Spring arrives, the sun begins to set later and I always think stationing yourself on one of Paris’s beautiful bridges to enjoy the sunset and the Springtime skies is so worth it. Carve out time to do so before your dinner – you won’t regret it!

Have a Photo Shoot

Capture your Paris memories by hiring a professional photographer to capture your Paris memories.

If you experience a rainy day while visiting Paris in the springtime, head to one of the many museums in Paris.

What To Do in Paris When It Rains
