RENOVATION OVERVIEW

BCD Travel approached Farbman Group for assistance with downsizing and refreshing their leased office space.

Farbman Group hired Indecca to manage the interior modifications to BCD’s space. This included relocating and creating a new demising wall (dividing wall) to reduce the footprint of their space, cubicle furniture, and repainting all interior walls throughout the space. This created a great backdrop for new wall-mounted branded logo signage. It also created a new access doorway to the building’s 3rd floor common corridor.

BCD Travel recognized for flexible, digital working environment

Tmc listed at #14 in flexjobs’ top 100 hybrid companies and awarded for global intranet.

UTRECHT, The Netherlands, Sept. 21, 2023 – BCD Travel was recently named in FlexJobs’ Top 100 Hybrid Companies to Watch in 2023 for its hybrid workplace offering. The company also won a Silver in the 2023 Intranet and Digital Workplace Awards for its world-class intranet. Both recognitions demonstrate how BCD’s flexible, digital working environment empowers employees to connect and work efficiently around the world. BCD’s flexible work model plays a key role in the company’s talent management by offering office, remote and hybrid workplaces. Following the pandemic, BCD’s People and Culture team redeveloped their recruitment strategy to focus on building forward sustainably. By blending traditional, tried-and-tested methods such as referral schemes with more creative ways like targeted social media campaigns, BCD added more than 3,000 employees in 2022. Today, BCD has more than 14,000 dedicated team members servicing clients in over 170 countries. “Our people are at the heart of our organization, and their wellbeing and growth have always been paramount in our journey towards success,” said Christian Dahl, senior vice president of People and Culture at BCD. “Embracing hybrid and virtual work empowers our people to manage their work-life balance and have a more fulfilling and sustainable work experience. It’s allowed us to attract new talent and nurture a culture that values both personal and professional journeys.” Part of creating a collaborative and efficient workplace is offering the right tools to keep employees informed and engaged no matter where they’re working. MySource, BCD’s global intranet, is key to the company’s engagement strategy. MySource provides a platform for employees to share tips, read communications and listen to messages from senior leadership by using SharePoint Online and other Microsoft 365 tools. The intranet’s team focus on user experience and continuous capability improvements has led to high user adoption and satisfaction. BCD’s efforts with MySource were recognized with two consecutive Silver awards from the Step Two Intranet and Digital Workplace Awards. “BCD’s strong company culture connects our people around the globe in a largely virtual environment,” said Stephan Baars, president and CEO of BCD. “MySource is a testament to our commitment to offer a flexible and dynamic workplace, meet our people where they are, and contribute to a positive employee experience.”    For all BCD’s job opportunities, visit the company’s career page .

To become a travel infrastructure provider in the global business society.

HTB-BCD Travel’s management philosophy is “In the global society, we will make efforts to create values together with our customers and contribute to the society as a corporate responsibility.” With this philosophy, we are developing our business with the following management vision: “To become a travel infrastructure that is most frequently chosen by customers.”

Amid the rapidly changing world environment, in the innovation-oriented society, problems nagging customers are becoming diversified and complicated, which makes it necessary for the business travel industry to comprehensively handle multiple solutions.

In the face of this reality, we decided to continue to challenge the changes and shift our focus to become a “Business Travel Management Company” that comprehensively provides overseas and domestic business trip support as well as support for incentive trips and overseas and domestic conferences and events.

In April 2011, we became a business partner of BCD Travel, the 3rd largest in the world in terms of scale and network, and in July 2019, we became a part of the BCD Travel group. We provide BTM services to the Japanese business units of the clients that are under the global contract with BCD Travel.

We will try to provide solutions for all aspects of business travels by integrating know-how on business travels that we have accumulated for half a century since the company’s establishment and the global standard services. We will continue to respond to diverse needs of our customers without fail and will contribute to their creation of values as a provider of travel infrastructure. We appreciate your continued support.

BCD Travel launches digital self-service travel platform for US small and midsize businesses

After a successful launch in Germany in 2022, and a pilot in the US, BCD Travel has now launched GetGoing across the US, an all-in-one platform for small and midsize businesses to book, manage and optimise business travel.

The product aims to combine the ease of digitally managing business travel with the comfort and security of personal expert service, designed especially for businesses looking for a digital self-service solution to manage all aspects of business travel, backed with the support from travel experts when needed.

GetGoing makes business travel hands-on for everyone in the company, from decision makers to office admins and travellers, with the platform providing a simplified business travel solution to manage business travel in one place: booking, policy automation, reporting, traveller safety, and expert support.

With the launch of GetGoing, BCD Travel now offers "the fast-growing small and midsize market a self-service solution backed up by a team of travel experts," says David Mitchell, president of the BCD Travel Mid-Market division and executive lead of GetGoing in the US market.

"Furthermore, the pricing is fair and transparent: no implementation fees or hidden costs. Clients can pick one of our flexible pricing plans that works best for them and change it directly on the platform as their business travel needs evolve," he adds.

bcd travel memorial office building

BCD Travel says that GetGoing offers the user the ability to have travel programmes "up and running within a matter of minutes" with travellers able to book and manage trips from any device at any time, without any software installation.

The platform leverages BCD Travel's buying power to secure low prices for users, with its content and partnerships with suppliers offering clients a wide range of discount offers creating significant savings opportunities. GetGoing also saves clients time and money with its unused ticket tracking software which identifies residual values to be used for future bookings, according to BCD Travel.

GetGoing's platform also enables companies to set up and automate travel policies, including flight, hotel, rental car and rail settings and automated pre-trip approval flows, so all bookings are automatically made within company policy.

The built-in reporting solution also offers a dashboard with travel data highlights and key metrics. It includes detailed reports with real-time data by traveller, date, location and more. This, according to BCD Travel, enables companies to "empower their team, save time and find new ways to save on their travel costs and make the most of their travel budget".

To help companies fulfil their duty of care and give their travellers peace of mind, the platform also has an integrated safety and security solution. It includes the latest travel risks and restrictions, a live traveller tracking map and GoSafe, an AI-powered flight sorting feature that prioritises safer options like direct flights or flights with connections in lower-risk countries. Automated trip-approval flows help monitor all traveller bookings and prevent employees from traveling to high-risk destinations.

The digital channel also has the human touch, when required. When support is needed, the helping hand of "highly trained experts" is just a call or click away, says BCD Travel. From travel and booking assistance to budget advice and 24/7 emergency support, the expert team is there to help travellers "continue to their destination or get them back home safely to family and friends," it says.

Located one block off of Main Street, City Hall is a powerful civic statement at the heart of downtown Moscow. Designed by James Knox Taylor, Supervising Architect of the U.S. Treasury, this Renaissance Revival building served as Moscow’s post office for sixty-three years. Few other Idaho buildings in the early twentieth century cost as much or had as competent an architect. The building became the Moscow City Hall after a period of nearly twenty years of discussion and debate.

What is today the Moscow City Hall was built during the Progressive Era, when the federal government was expanding the civic infrastructure to meet the needs of a rapidly growing country. Taylor, a highly regarded classicist, spent fifteen years as supervising architect of the U.S. Treasury, overseeing the design and construction of more than 800 federal buildings, including this one. This handsome, three-story structure is built of brick, since stone was not readily available in the Moscow area. Here, the red brick is trimmed in ivory terra-cotta. Ground-floor windows are tall and round arched and the central panel of each is made up of double-hung, eight-over-eight sashes. These are flanked with four-pane sidelights and topped by graceful fan windows for a Palladian effect. Second-story windows are six-over-six rectangles, with accented corners and keystones of terra-cotta. The third story is shortened, set off by a terra-cotta course decorated with round discs. The small, third-story windows are shaded by a wide classical cornice with a course of large dentils. The original roof is metal seamed and hipped. The space below the cornice and between the third story windows is richly decorated with terra-cotta panels and patterned brickwork. A Scottish mason named Howard Buchanan was paid double wages to come to Moscow to execute the brickwork. Apparently, Buchanan was so particular about brick selection and laying that he nearly bankrupted the building’s contractor.

The main entrance is in the central bay of a five-bay facade, and is reached by a flight of ten steps. The fan window above the entrance is repeated over the four windows on this story. The main entry originally featured a revolving door that has since been removed. The south end of the building has a similar doorway in a three-bay front. The raised basement is marked by grill-covered openings below the first-floor windows. This public building is one of only five buildings in downtown Moscow that rise to the height of three stories or more, all of which were built by 1912.

In 1973 a new post office building was under construction and the fate of the old post office and courthouse was hotly debated. Local civic activists began a fervent dialogue with city officials and the Department of the Interior to identify possible uses for the stately building. The City of Moscow eventually purchased the building and by 1981 it had been partially refurbished for use as the Moscow Community Center. During the next decade further discussions led to the complete renovation of the building and its conversion to the Moscow City Hall.

The interior of what remains Moscow’s most handsome and sophisticated building has been fully restored. The old courtroom on the second floor, with its finely detailed oak paneling, was turned into chambers for the city council. The lobbies have been turned into a public gallery known as the Third Street Gallery. Only occasionally have historic buildings changed hands and uses in such satisfying ways.
