Frequently asked questions

How do i benefit from using manage my booking, what can i do through manage my booking, how do i access manage my booking, if my booking contains flights, which are not with british airways, can i still access manage my booking, if i made my booking with a travel agent, can i use manage my booking, are there any restrictions to which bookings i can access with manage my booking, if i make changes to my booking, how do i know that my changes have been stored in my booking, if i make seat and meal requests, are they guaranteed, why can't i request a special meal on my flight, can you tell me about the service where customers are able to print their own boarding pass.

As a British Airways customer, Manage My Booking is a self-service online initiative designed to assist you by:

  • Giving you reassurance about your booking by being able to view booking details 24 hours a day at any time up to when you travel for each flight.
  • Eliminating the need for you to check your booking details and request booking services by phone.
  • Reducing time spent in airport check-in queues.
  • Providing travel information relevant to your booking to help you plan and prepare for your travel.

Manage my booking allows you to:

  • View details of your travel itinerary.
  • View your seat and meal requests.
  • Make seat requests from an interactive seating plan.
  • Make meal requests from a list of available special dietary meals.
  • Provide Advance Passenger Information (e.g. passport and other details).
  • Apply for an ESTA if you're travelling to the USA or Puerto Rico.
  • Add an Executive Club or partner frequent flyer number to ensure receipt of Tier Points and Avios.
  • Email your itinerary to colleagues, friends and family.
  • View check-in times and information about Online Check-in and Self-Service Check-in kiosks.
  • Check in for your flight online and print your boarding pass before going to the airport.
  • Obtain baggage information including allowances or restrictions.
  • View city guides and other useful links.
  • Access real-time departures and arrivals information.
  • Change your flights, upgrade your cabin class and claim refunds.

To access Manage My Booking, you just need your booking reference and last name. Regardless of where you made your reservation, your booking reference can be found on your ticket (in an area called 'PNR code' or 'Locator') or on your e-ticket itinerary receipt. The reference is a series of six characters containing letters and numbers. If you are an Executive Club member and you are logged in to ba.com, you will be able to automatically list your booking references, which contain your Executive Club number. If you are unable to see this reference on any of your documentation, please contact the company from where you purchased your ticket who will have a record of it.

You can access Manage My Booking to view any flights on your booking, provided there is at least one flight with a British Airways flight number. Seat and meal request services, the Advance Passenger Information service, Online Check-in, if available, can only be used on flights with a British Airways flight number.

If you have booked through a travel agent and your booking contains at least one flight with a British Airways flight number, then simply use your travel agent's booking reference to access the Manage My Booking service. There are two key service limitations, which may apply to a travel agent booking:

  • You may not be able to view all of your flights in Manage My Booking. If this is the case, then this is because British Airways does not own the booking and is normally allowed to view it's own flights plus with preceding and succeeding connecting flights (regardless of airline).
  • Changes made through Manage My Booking to British Airways flights will normally not be passed back to your travel agent booking.

You will be unable to access Manage My Booking for any bookings that:

  • were made through our Group Bookings team or via a travel agent for a group, which includes any booking for 10 or more passengers
  • are for flights that have been flown or cancelled
  • include hotels, cars, experiences or transfers booked on iberia.com

Please contact us instead.

You will be notified of any change to your booking by email, where an email address has been provided.

Whilst we will do all we can to satisfy your request, the delivery of seat and meal requests cannot be guaranteed.

Special meal requests cannot be made for travel on any UK Domestic flight. Special meals requests cannot be made on some Euro Traveller flights.

Check where you can request a special meal

If you are travelling on a standby or waitlist ticket you will be unable to request special meals on any route.

Kosher meal requests are not available on all services. Please check here to see where kosher meals are available . Special meal requests are unavailable on all other routes if your flight is due to depart within 24 hours.

Please note: Special meal requests on British Airways flights operated by our partner airlines may differ from above. Flights operated to/from London City airport have complimentary catering.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

From selected locations, customers using Online Check-in can print their own boarding pass at home or in the office and go straight to the central search security area on arrival. This then saves the customer visiting a Self-Service Check-in kiosk at the airport to collect their boarding pass. The Online boarding pass needs to be printed on plain white A4 or letter paper and includes a unique 2D barcode, which will be scanned by airport security staff and checked off against information already in the system. When travelling from the UK, customers will need to provide photographic ID in the form of a passport, identity card or driving licence, along with their Online boarding pass, before they will be allowed to pass through security. At all other airport locations, the passport/identity card check will be carried out before boarding the aircraft. The technology that is being used, along with the requirement for an approved type of photographic ID, means that customers can be reassured that security is in no way being compromised. Customers with onward flights If the Online boarding pass service is not available from the location that your onward journey or return journey departs, customers will need to collect their boarding passes for their onward/return journeys from a check-in or a Self-Service Check-in kiosk where available.

How to log in to your british airways executive club account right now – despite the ‘upgrade’ (2-min travel tip).

November 21, 2021 by Joe Deeney

british airways travel login

As BA’s Executive Club ‘upgrade’ completion is now 4 days overdue , more and more members are increasingly desperate to access their accounts. The bad news is that the main login page is still down – this is the message you will now see:

british airways travel login

You can try using the app as the official advice above suggests, but in reality, people have been having pretty mixed luck with that. Fortunately, there is a relatively simple workaround that should allow you to access your account (albeit, with limited functionality).

How to log in to your British Airways Executive Club account right now

First of all, I want to be clear that while this tip is working at the time of publication, that doesn’t necessarily mean it will continue to work – the tech situation at BA seems pretty fluid at the moment…

Rather than clicking on the usual log in page link, you want to start by making a ‘dummy’ booking on the BA homepage instead:

british airways travel login

Select some flights and then click on the “Log In” link next to “Save With Avios”.

british airways travel login

Enter your login details:

british airways travel login

You should then see something like the following page – note that your name will now be in the top right of the page:

british airways travel login

Click on your name and you should be taken to your normal British Airways Executive Club dashboard:

british airways travel login

Bottom line

Don’t get too excited – you are still likely to face some issues in terms of what you can and can’t do once you are logged in. But, it’s a lot better than nothing.

Hopefully BA can restore normal access and full functionality soon…

British Airways Executive Club: Guide to Avios, elite status and transfer partners

Ben Smithson

Editor's Note

British Airways is the largest full-service airline in the United Kingdom and flies to more destinations in the U.S. than any other European carrier.

The airline's loyalty program is called the Executive Club, and the program's currency is called Avios. With a substantial global route network and a loyalty currency that is easy to earn and redeem, it is a program that should be on your radar, even if you aren't traveling to the U.K.

Here's what you need to know about earning and redeeming British Airways Avios for rewards and how to earn elite status in the Executive Club .

What are Avios?

Avios are the points currency used by the following loyalty programs:

  • British Airways Executive Club
  • Iberia Plus
  • Aer Lingus AerClub
  • Qatar Airways Privilege Club
  • Finnair Plus ( from March 9. 2024 )

Avios can be transferred between any of these programs at a ratio of 1:1, so each Avios is theoretically worth the same in each program. There are, however, different ways in which Avios can be redeemed in each program. This means the savvy reader can achieve different values depending on which program they are used in — and how.

This guide focuses on Avios earned and redeemed in the Executive Club program.

How to earn elite status in the British Airways Executive Club program

Tier Points count toward status, and there are four different status levels:

  • Blue — the level where everyone starts
  • Bronze — achieved after 300 Tier Points earned in a membership year
  • Silver — achieved after 600 Tier Points earned in a membership year
  • Gold — achieved after 1,500 Tier Points earned in a membership year

Like some other airline programs, the British Airways Executive Club also has two additional levels of status that aren't published:

  • Gold Guest List — achieved after 5,000 Tier Points earned in a membership year and maintained in subsequent years by earning 3,000 Tier Points in a membership year
  • Premier — invitation-only elite status

Blue benefits

  • Collect Avios on revenue flights with BA or its partners
  • Share Avios in a household account (up to six members)
  • Free seat selection 24 hours before departure (excluding exit row seats and not including travel on basic fares)
  • Save preferences, such as special meals and seating
  • Access to Reward Flight Savers

Bronze benefits

  • All the Blue benefits
  • Priority check-in and boarding
  • Free seat selection seven days before departure
  • 25% bonus Avios when flying with Japan Airlines
  • Status freeze for maternity/paternity/adoption

british airways travel login

Silver benefits

Silver is the equivalent of Gold on many other airlines, where the benefits kick in.

  • All the Bronze benefits
  • Free seat selection at the time of booking
  • 50% bonus Avios when flying with Japan Airlines
  • Two 71-pound checked bags economy (applicable to everyone on your booking, except basic fare)
  • Business-class lounge access when flying BA and partner airlines (with one guest)
  • Priority baggage delivery
  • Priority phone support

Gold benefits

  • All Silver benefits
  • Free seat selection at the time of booking, including exit row seats and exclusive access to 1A and 1K in first-class
  • 100% bonus Avios when flying Japan Airlines
  • Additional free checked bag in any class and a weight allowance of 71 pounds per bag (applicable to everyone on your booking)
  • First-class check-in desk and lounge access when flying BA and Oneworld airlines (lounge access includes one guest)
  • Use of BA arrivals lounge at London's Heathrow Airport (LHR) Terminal 5 after a long-haul flight (no guests)
  • Access to Gold Priority Rewards, which allows you to force an Avios reward ticket by paying double Avios for flights (you must book more than 30 days in advance)
  • Additional reward availability in economy
  • Gold upgrade voucher for two (at 2,500 Tier Points in one year)
  • Two Gold upgrade vouchers for one (at 3,500 Tier Points in one year)

Lifetime Gold is earned after collecting 35,000 Tier Points; there's no limit on the amount of time you can take to collect.

Gold Guest List benefits

  • All Gold benefits
  • First-class lounge access when flying BA and Oneworld airlines (with up to five guests for BA-operated lounges)
  • Access to Gold Guest List redemptions, also known as Jokers, which allow members to get BA to open up Avios redemption seats (for up to five passengers), provided certain booking classes are still up for sale
  • Priority assistance helpline
  • Concorde Room card for access to the Concorde Room at LHR and John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) (with one guest)
  • BA arrivals lounge access after a long-haul flight (with one guest)
  • Hilton Honors Diamond status
  • Upgrade to Business First on the Heathrow Express
  • Gift one Gold and two Silver partner cards each membership year

Requalifying for status with British Airways requires the same amount of Tier Points, with the exception of Gold Guest List. However, BA has a "soft landing" for members who don't retain the same status level in the following membership year. If a member fails to maintain their status, they'll slip to the level directly below.

british airways travel login

What is the difference between Avios and Tier Points?

Many frequent flyer programs differentiate between redeemable miles and elite qualifying miles. This is partly because airlines award multiples of actual miles flown to passengers in premium cabins or those with elite status for redeeming, but they award progress toward status based on actual miles flown.

British Airways Executive Club has a split. Rather than having elite qualifying miles, BA awards Tier Points, which count toward status. Sometimes confusingly for those new to the world of miles, BA calls its mileage currency — i.e., the miles that are earned and can be used for spending — Avios.

Avios are the air miles earned for flying, credit card spending and spending with partners through online shopping, hotel stays and rental cars. Therefore, Avios are the currency customers can use for reward flights, upgrades and other things like gift vouchers.

You can earn Avios points based on the price of your ticket and any additional add-ons when you fly, such as carrier charges, cabin upgrades, seats pre-booked and paid for, and additional bags.

Then, you will receive additional Avios points based on your Tier status. If you have Bronze Tier status, you will earn 7 points per British pound ($1.26) spent, 8 points per pound spent as a Silver Tier member and 9 points per pound as a Gold Tier member.

Tier Points

British Airways awards Tier Points for all flights taken on British Airways, Aer Lingus (as of April, 2024) or any of BA's Oneworld partners , which count toward status in the Executive Club. The number of Tier Points awarded depends on your ticket type and the class flown.

Short economy-class flights that are less than 2,000 miles can earn between 5 to 20 Tier points, depending on the fare class booked and, essentially, the price. The more expensive the ticket, the more likely you are to earn more Tier points. Short-haul business-class flights (or domestic first class, in the U.S.) of less than 2,000 miles typically earn 40 Tier points for each sector. So, taking lots of short flights in premium cabins can be a way to earn elite status quickly.

Once a year, Tier points balances reset to zero, and earnings for the next year start anew. BA currently does not use calendar years, but instead, each membership year is based on when someone joined the British Airways Executive Club. (It always comes on the eighth of the month.) This system will change in 2025 when all Executive Club members' Tier Point year-end dates will begin on April 1 and end on March 31 each year.

Unlike the loyalty programs of some U.S. airlines , there is currently no spending requirement to earn status in the Executive Club program. You just have to earn the Tier Points and take two qualifying flights on British Airways each membership year for Bronze status. You must take four qualifying flights and meet the Tier point thresholds to earn Silver or Gold status.

How to earn Avios

Credit cards

The easiest way to earn a meaningful number of Avios for everyday spending is by applying for the British Airways Visa Signature® Card .

This card — issued by Chase and, therefore, subject to the 5/24 rule — is currently offering new applicants 75,000 Avios after they spend $5,000 on purchases within the first three months from account opening. TPG values Avios at 1.5 cents each , making the full bonus worth $1,125.

The British Airways Visa Signature has a $95 annual fee and earns 3 Avios per $1 spent on purchases with British Airways, Aer Lingus, Iberia and Level. Plus, you can earn 2 Avios per $1 spent on hotel accommodations when purchased directly with the hotel. All other purchases earn 1 Avios per $1 spent.

Transferable rewards cards

Savvy TPG readers know that we usually recommend sticking with cards that earn transferable points because of the added flexibility they offer. This strategy still applies if you're trying to accrue Avios. British Airways is a transfer partner of Capital One , Chase Ultimate Rewards , American Express Membership Rewards , Bilt Rewards and Marriott Bonvoy , making Avios one of the easiest currencies to earn.

Points transfer from Capital One, Chase, Bilt and Amex at a 1:1 ratio (in addition to occasional transfer bonuses ), while Marriott points transfer to Avios at a 3:1 ratio. Plus, you'll get a 5,000-Avios bonus for every 60,000 Marriott points transferred.

The following cards all currently offer strong welcome bonuses that you could easily convert to Avios:

  • American Express® Gold Card : Earn 60,000 Membership Rewards points after you spend $6,000 on purchases in the first six months of card membership. Terms apply.
  • The Platinum Card® from American Express : Earn 80,000 Membership Rewards points after you spend $8,000 on purchases within the first six months of card membership. Check to see if you're targeted for a 125,000-point welcome offer through CardMatch (offer subject to change at any time). Terms apply.
  • Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card : Earn 75,000 bonus miles once you spend $4,000 on purchases within the first three months from account opening.
  • Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card : Earn 75,000 bonus miles once you spend $4,000 on purchases within the first three months from account opening.
  • Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card : Earn 60,000 bonus points after you spend $4,000 on purchases in the first three months from account opening.
  • Chase Sapphire Reserve® : Earn 60,000 bonus points after you spend $4,000 on purchases in the first three months from account opening.
  • Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card : Earn 100,000 bonus points after you spend $8,000 on purchases in the first three months from account opening.

Other ways to earn Avios include:

  • Purchasing Avios : They are often on sale .
  • Online shopping portal : Earn bonus Avios from many online merchants, with some stores offering 10 Avios per dollar or more.
  • Vacation packages: Search the British Airways Vacations website since it can earn you an extra 1 Avios per $1 spent. BA partners with major hotel brands such as IHG and Accor, so you can earn additional Avios.
  • Airbnb: Earn 2 Avios per $1 spent on vacation rentals.
  • Car rentals: Earn 5 Avios per pound ($1.26) spent with Avis and 1 Avios per dollar with Budget.
  • Lounge Pass: Earn 5 Avios per dollar spent when you buy access to a club lounge at over 350 airports worldwide.
  • Heathrow Rewards: Earn 1 Avios per pound (about $1.26) when you shop, dine or park at London's Heathrow Airport (LHR), British Airways' primary hub. You can then convert these Heathrow Rewards points to Avios at a 1:1 ratio.
  • Surveys: Members can use e-Rewards and Avios for Thoughts to earn Avios for completing surveys, including 600 Avios when you complete your first survey.

Which airlines can I book with Avios?

british airways travel login

British Airways is a founding member of Oneworld, a global alliance of more than a dozen airlines.

Assuming there's award availability, you can use your Avios from your British Airways accounts for flights on any Oneworld airlines:

  • Alaska Airlines
  • American Airlines
  • British Airways
  • Cathay Pacific
  • Fiji Airways (Oneworld connect partner)
  • Iberia, including Iberia Express and Air Nostrum
  • Japan Airlines
  • Malaysia Airlines
  • Oman Air ( joining in 2024 )
  • Qantas, including QantasLink and Jetconnect
  • Qatar Airways
  • Royal Jordanian
  • Royal Air Maroc
  • S7 Airlines (currently suspended)
  • SriLankan Airlines

In addition to the Oneworld partners listed above, you can also use Avios from British Airways Executive Club to redeem for flights on:

  • Sun-Air, a BA franchise partner in Scandinavia

How many Avios will I need?

Though British Airways Executive Club does not publish an official redemption chart, TPG has found that the airline follows this award pricing for one-way Avios redemptions:

British Airways has introduced Reward Flight Savers on all BA-operated routes. This allows Executive Club members to pay more Avios in exchange for a reduction in the significant fuel surcharges the program instates, some of the industry's highest.

Here is the partner award chart for flights operated by partner airlines, excluding Zone 1 to 4 American Airlines and Alaska Airlines (all flights are charged at the peak price):

For some flights operated by partner airlines who also use Avios, you may see slightly different pricing than on the table above when redeeming through British Airways Executive Club. For example:

  • Aer Lingus Zone 1 flights are priced at 4,000 Avios in economy
  • Iberia Zone 1 flights are priced at 5,000 Avios in economy; and
  • Qatar Airways Zone 1 flights are priced at 8,000 Avios in economy.

Related: 4 versions of Avios: When to use Aer Lingus, Qatar Airways, Iberia and British Airways

For shorter flights operated by American Airlines or Alaska Airlines, the following prices apply :

Flights in Zone 5 or above (such as to Europe) operated by American Airlines are priced using the regular partner award chart.

If you do a mixed-cabin redemption, the number of miles payable will also be the highest fare class amount.

How do I book flights with British Airways Avios?

british airways travel login

First, to transfer points or search award availability, you will need a British Airways Executive Club account. Click here to sign up if you don't already have an account.

British Airways' website is one of the best options for searching Oneworld award availability. Most redemptions can be booked online through the Executive Club website.

There are two main ways to search for award availability. Immediately after logging in to BA's website, I usually hover over the "Book" tab in the upper left corner and click on "Book a flight with Avios."

british airways travel login

BA lets you easily search plus or minus three days at the top of the results page.

british airways travel login

When you select your preferred flight, you will then see the Avios and fees and taxes cost.

british airways travel login

Can I use a combination of Avios and cash?

There are two different ways to do this:

  • You can partly pay with Avios to reduce the cost of a cash ticket. This is not dependent on award availability, and you will earn Avios and Tier Points as normal.
  • You can reduce the number of Avios needed for redemption by paying additional cash (beyond just the fees and taxes).

You may not have sufficient Avios in your account to cover the cost of the entire flight, or you may not wish to use so many Avios for one redemption. So, British Airways gives you the option to pay with a combination of Avios and money for redemption on British Airways or its partners.

Bottom line

British Airways has a huge route network, especially in North America and across Europe, making it a great option for those flying from the U.S. to Europe. Plus, BA remains committed to maintaining international first class, and while none of its products are world-leading, they are fairly consistent.

Avios is one of the easiest loyalty program currencies to earn and redeem. Redemptions for short-haul travel can offer great value, though fuel surcharges remain the biggest frustration with the program.

If you become a Chase Online customer, your Rewards Program Agreement will also be available after logging in to chase.com Opens in a new window . How you can earn Avios points: You'll earn Avios points on purchases of products and services, minus returns or refunds, made with a British Airways credit card by you or an authorized user of the account. Buying products and services with your card, in most cases, will count as a purchase; however, the following types of transactions won't count and won't earn Avios points: balance transfers, cash advances and other cash-like transactions, lottery tickets, casino gaming chips, race track wagers or similar betting transactions, any checks that access your account, interest, unauthorized or fraudulent charges, and fees of any kind, including an annual fee, if applicable. 5 Avios points per $1 spent on gas, grocery store and dining purchases until the earlier of the end of your first year or first $10,000 spent: You'll earn 5 Avios points total for each $1 spent on purchases made at gas stations, grocery stores and on dining within your first 12 months from account opening, or until you reach $10,000 in purchases, whichever occurs first. This is an additional 4 Avios points on top of the 1 Avios point earned for each $1 spent you earn on those purchases in the program. The additional Avios points will appear on your billing statement in a separate line from the base Avios points you earn. After that, you'll earn 3 Avios points: You'll earn 3 Avios points for each $1 spent on flight purchases made directly with British Airways, Aer Lingus, Iberia and LEVEL. 2 Avios points: You'll earn 2 Avios points for each $1 spent on hotel accommodations when purchased directly with the hotel. 1 Avios point: You'll earn 1 Avios point for each $1 spent on all other purchases. Information about earning/transferring Avios points to British Airways: Avios points earned during a billing cycle will be automatically transferred to British Airways after the end of each billing cycle. You must have a U.S. address listed on your British Airways Executive Club profile to earn Avios points in the British Airways card rewards program. Avios points expiration: Avios points will expire according to the British Airways Executive Club program terms and conditions which include maintaining Executive Club program activity for 36 consecutive months. Losing Avios points: You'll immediately lose all Avios points that haven't been transferred to British Airways if your card account status changes, or your card account is closed for program misuse, fraudulent activities, failure to pay, bankruptcy, or other reasons described in the terms of the Rewards Program Agreement. Rewards Categories: Merchants who accept Visa/Mastercard credit cards are assigned a merchant code, which is determined by the merchant or its processor in accordance with Visa/Mastercard procedures based on the kinds of products and services they primarily sell. We group similar merchant codes into categories for purposes of making rewards offers to you. Please note: We make every effort to include all relevant merchant codes in our rewards categories. However, even though a merchant or some of the items that it sells may appear to fit within a rewards category, the merchant may not have a merchant code in that category. When this occurs, purchases with that merchant won't qualify for rewards offers on purchases in that category. Purchases submitted by you, an authorized user, or the merchant through third-party payment accounts, mobile or wireless card readers, online or mobile digital wallets, or similar technology will not qualify in a rewards category if the technology is not set up to process the purchase in that rewards category. For more information about Chase rewards categories, see chase.com/RewardsCategoryFAQs Opens in a new window .

British Airways Expands ‘£1 Fare’ Option to All Flights

Gordon Smith , Skift

April 16th, 2024 at 6:35 AM EDT

Loyalty programs are huge business for many airlines, with fierce competition for well-heeled frequent fliers. BA will be hoping these changes make its Avios scheme more attractive to existing and future customers.

Gordon Smith

British Airways has announced a big change to redemptions in its loyalty program. The airline is making every flight available to buy from just £1 ($1.25), plus Avios.

Until now, the lowest available ‘cash plus Avios’ price was dependent on multiple factors, meaning overall fare combinations varied considerably.

Operated by IAG Loyalty,  Avios is the reward currency  used by British Airways and other major airlines including Iberia, Qatar Airways, and Finnair. It also has partnerships with brands including American Express, Avis Budget Group, and Marriott.

From today, members of the Executive Club have the option to discount any British Airways flight to as little as £1, with the difference being paid in Avios. The incentive applies to seats throughout the aircraft from economy right up to first class.

Refining Frequent Flier Perks

In line with many of its competitors, such as  Virgin Atlantic’s Flying Club , British Airways has long  offered a part payment service .

This allows frequent fliers or other high spenders to lower the cash price of their booking by using more points. In addition to journeys operated by BA, it can also be used on American Airlines flights between the U.K. and the United States, as well as some codeshare services.

Colm Lacy, British Airways’ Chief Commercial Officer, said the decision was made after listening to feedback from Executive Club members. “We know that most of our customers choose the lowest cash amount when it comes to making Reward Flight bookings, so we anticipate this to be a popular option for those using Avios part payment too. Ultimately, our goal is to keep adding more choice and flexibility for members.”

The change does not impact BA’s popular ‘Reward Flight’ scheme. These will continue to be priced at a fixed rate, with a limited number available for each service.

British Airways Under Scrutiny

The development comes as British Airways continues a  £7 billion ($8.9 billion)  transformation program. Over the next two years, the flag carrier aims to overhaul its operation and enhance the passenger experience. It follows allegations that  underinvestment and outsourcing  have left the airline on the back foot.

Last month, the airline launched the latest phase of a major new advertising campaign. Its unorthodox format sparked controversy as well as critical acclaim.

Airline loyalty programs  are nothing new , however, in recent years they have grown to become critical assets for many major airlines.

For example, American Airlines’ AAdvantage scheme and United Airlines’ MileagePlus program were recently valued at $24 billion and $22 billion, respectively. For its part, IAG Loyalty says there are more than 40 million Avios collectors worldwide.

British Airways resumes daily flights between Abu Dhabi, London

First flight touched down this morning, following four-year pause

Stock-British-Airways

Abu Dhabi: Zayed International Airport has welcomed the first British Airways flight to Abu Dhabi as it touched down this morning, following a four-year pause of the route.
The new route connecting London and Abu Dhabi adds the growing list of international carriers now operating from the terminal at Zayed International Airport.

Further strengthening trade and tourism links between the UAE and UK, the new route caters to the growing demand for further flights connecting the global tourism and business hubs of London and Abu Dhabi.
London Heathrow is one of the top five destinations for passengers count at Zayed International Airport with 290,000 passengers flying this route in the first quarter of 2024.

Elena Sorlini, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer at Abu Dhabi Airports, said, “We extend a warm welcome to British Airways as they start operating at Zayed International Airport with a daily schedule that promises to enrich connectivity and invigorate both business and tourism between the UAE and the UK. Our new award-winning and cutting-edge terminal offers visitors an unparalleled experience to the vibrant UAE capital, where they will be greeted with Emirati hospitality at its finest.”

Calum Laming, Chief Customer Officer at British Airways, added, “We are really excited to be celebrating our Abu Dhabi route launch. The new daily British Airways flight connects Abu Dhabi with London Heathrow and beyond provides our customers with another amazing destination within our expansive global network, further growing our connections with the UAE. With four cabins to choose from, including First, we are confident customers will enjoy our exceptional and original British Airways service brought to life by our incredible colleagues.”

The UAE and the UK have enjoyed historically long-standing ties, and the launch of daily British Airways flights between Zayed International Airport and London Heathrow further solidifies this relationship, strengthening the cultural and economic bonds between the two countries.

More travel misery for Brits after union threatens strike action unless British Airways resolves pay row

PASSENGERS were last night braced for travel misery after the UK’s biggest union threatened strike action unless British Airways resolves a pay row.

Unite general secretary Sharon Graham yesterday blasted the airline and said she “stands ready to defend BA members on this by all means necessary, including full support for industrial action”.

Passengers could face travel misery after the UK’s biggest union threatened to strike unless British Airways resolves a pay row

A summer walkout could cripple flights and shatter holiday hopes for millions of families.

The bust-up is over a ‘good faith’ agreement between BA and the union which stated no section of the airline would receive a bigger pay rise than another.

Officials claim this deal has been ignored following a recent pay hike for pilots – which was not shared across departments.

The union boss pulled no punches addressing BA workers in a letter seen by The Sun.

The union chief added they were also “challenging BA’s claims that the pilots’ one-off payment has been generated through productivity savings

BA was contacted for comment last night.

Last night British Airways told The Sun: “We really value the views of our union colleagues and will continue to engage openly with them on any issues they raise.”
