Saskatchewan-born country musician Colter Wall is scheduled to play two dates at the Coors Event Centre in Saskatoon next month.

Tickets for the March 3 and 4 shows go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. through livenation.com.

Wall is the son of former Saskatchewan premier Brad Wall and was born in Swift Current, later attending the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon. He’s known for his baritone voice and narrative songwriting.

Wall’s self-titled debut album was released in May 2017 and was followed by Songs of the Plains in 2018. His third album, Western Swing and Waltzes and Other Punchy Songs, came out in 2020.

His latest single is “Cypress Hills and the Big Country.”

Colter Wall Announces Rare Fall 2023 Tour Dates

Ever since the COVID pandemic effectively shut down live music around the world,  Colter Wall  has remained content tending to his farmland in Saskatchewan, Canada, and releasing the occasional album . Even after concerts returned in full force, the singer-songwriter has continued to shy away from any large-scale touring, instead opting for one-off festival appearances largely in the Western United States. Therefore, it was an exciting announcement last week when Colter Wall announced a run of ten U.S. tour dates in October and December.

The tour begins on October 11th in Columbus, OH, with a string of shows through Louisville, Chicago, Detroit, Omaha, Minneapolis, and Madison, WI over the next ten days. In December, Wall travels to Dallas for a two-night engagement at the  Longhorn Ballroom  before wrapping the trek in Durant, OK.

Despite Wall’s continuous upward trajectory, many of the venues are intimate 1,500–3,000-capacity rooms. That, plus the rare nature of Wall’s appearances, will likely move tickets quickly. Adding to the hype, Wall’s latest record—the reflective Little Songs —just put the country revivalist at #1 on Billboard ‘s Emerging Artists Chart, as well as #75 on the Billboard 200.

Tickets for the upcoming Colter Wall tour dates go on sale on Friday, August 11th at 10 a.m. local time. In anticipation of high demand, fans are encouraged to sign up for Wall’s mailing list in order to access pre-sales beginning on Wednesday at 10 a.m. local time. Quite a disappointing concert, Colter Wall, last night.

He released an album last year - Songs of the Plains - that’s brought him a lot of positive critical attention then only played 4 songs from it. One of these, the great Wild Dogs, he sang like he couldn’t get into the mood.

He had his band with him, so they were whooping it up like a hundred other country bands further diminishing the man’s talent which wasn’t much on display anyway because he kept singing cover songs.

His rendition of his Calgary Round-Up from the last album was brilliant, but it wasn't enough.

While I almost bailed due to the lousy weather, I am so glad I did go to the show. This kid has an amazing voice and his stories between songs are just as much fun as the actual music. I love that he is aware and acknowledges those that came before him but still makes the music his own. I know he will continue to grow as an artist and I will be able to say I saw him in this intricate venue. Can't wait to see him again!

As usual, Colter Wall was great. Unfortunately, a high percentage of audience members who attend his shows these days are too focused on drinking and socializing and posting selfies to actually watch or listen to his songs. So much loud talking and stumbling two-fisted drinking thatI doubt a one of them heard anything he said or sang.

Colter Wall was great. Pustervik is in my opinion wrong place for him. The concert hall of Gothenburg is more suitable.

Colters sound and voice deserve better settings than an audiance that came more for the beer than the music.

Con: He could get more in contact with the crowd.

Colter Himself was great.

Colter Wall is the real deal. His show has no props or schtick... just a man, his guitar and some fabulous songs. And a voice that evokes country legends of yesteryear like Johnny Cash or Steve Earle. If you get a chance to see him, GO!

It was absolutely phenomenal!!! The best experience I've had in years!!! Thenjoy venue was cool the vibe was exciting and open. Good beer, good music and all the local bars and restaurants within a block or 2...

Colter seems like a great overall person. His music is gold but the personality of the artist also matters. Keep doing what you're doing and I'll forever support your love and passion for music.

Amazing show!! Colter Wall is an incredible artist and performer live. Great stage presence, great stories. His sound live is even better than on record - gritty, raw, and undeniably phenomenal.

The Best! Colter Wall's voice is ageless. I was in the second row - basically touching the stage and it was incredible. I've seen Colter twice and have loved both shows. He's terrific!!

Colter Wall  is a young Saskatchewan born country music singer, songwriter, and musician. 

Taking the Ryman stage to absolute silence, Colter Wall and his traditional country influenced gift for songwriting and storytelling would leave a breathless audience begging for more as he completed an unforgettable opening slot for country icon, Lucinda Williams .  With the support of his fans at home in Saskatchewan, countless media outlets and notable attendees such as W. Brett Wilson (of CBC Dragon’s Den fame) the baritone vocals and music of Colter Wall would finally fill the walls of a venue he had dreamed of playing since he was a teen.  Known by many as the *Mother Church of Country Music* on Sunday, May 8th Colter Wall officially became one of the few Saskatchewan artists to ever take the stage at the iconic Ryman Auditorium (known as Grand Ole Opry from 1943-1974).

On June 2nd, he will be travelling North to perform to a sold-out Saskatoon crowd at The Capitol alongside Saskatoon musician Kristan Couture and award nominated roots artist, Steph Cameron.  July will see Colter Wall return to the United States with a performance in Indianapolis, Indiana. Colter Wall continues to be one of the most sought after tickets in country music since it’s been so rare for him to make appearances post pandemic. Aside from a few select shows here an there, the Cowboy & Western singer spent most of 2023 on horseback as opposed to in a bus, making demand for his live appearances outpace supply. But folks out West are in luck, because Colter Wall has just announced a rare run of tour dates through Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada, and California. They join select shows Colter has scheduled at the Longhorn Ballroom in Dallas on December 6th and 7th with Red Shahan, as well as Durant, Oklahoma on December 9th. Colter was also recently revealed as one of the performers at the Two Step Inn Fest in Central Texas in April. Despite releasing some of the most traditional and obscure cowboy music possible, Colter Wall continues his upward trajectory. His new album Little Songs released in July turned in career numbers for the Canadian Cowboy and Western singer. Colter debuted at #1 on the Billboard Emerging Artists Chart, as well as #75 on the all-genre Billboard 200—his best showing to date. I was able to get tickets for the Sacramento show! After getting Covid cancelled twice in my area over the last 4 years I’m finally going to get to see Colter do his thing!

Saw him finally at Under the Big Sky. He is the best in country music currently in my opinion. He’s the real deal too.

I’m very surprised he’s doing anything resembling a tour. His life & hustle keeps him pretty grounded at home so anything tour like is an extreme surprise. Mostly sold out and justifiably so, I’d love to hear him play some new tunes cause that new record is a masterpiece.

I just wanted to come back the this post and report on the Colter Wall show we just saw over the weekend. First of all, thanks so much to Trigger for the article. I almost didn’t even read it, knowing CW and most country artists at this level don’t play Southern California.

First off, Vince Neil Emerson opened and was awesome. Secondly, Colter sang great and the band was lights out. The biggest impression I took away was how QUIET the night was. At first “we” were complaining about the sound guy not doing a good job, but once “we” shut the hell up and listened it was an amazingly unique experience. The quietest 2,000 people I have ever been around.

There were a couple moments when the band brought it down so low all you could hear was Colter singing and the pin someone dropped in the back row. I’ve seen a lot of shows and never experienced something quite like that.

The funniest part of the night was that the camera operator definitely didn’t know the difference between a pedal steel, an electric guitar and a harmonica… For every solo the camera panned to the wrong player, sat for a second, and then quickly refocused for the last few notes, only to repeat the process for the whole break. It was funny as hell.

Anyway, hope lots of people get their singing cowboy fix on this tour!

Colter Wall Announces US Fall 2023 Tour

Colter Wall has delighted fans by announcing a run of US shows for Fall 2023.

The Canadian wrangler and troubadour follows up his Western Canadian tour back in March and his headline appearance at Under The Big Sky in July by announcing ten dates for October and December this year.

Wall will stop through Columbus, Louisville, Chicago and more, before heading down to Texas for two nights at Dallas' Longhorn Ballroom in December.

Texan singer-songwriter Red Shahan will join Wall in support for all ten dates.

The tour is in support of Wall's 2023 album, Little Songs , which Holler rated 9/10 and said "In the end, Little Songs is a treasure, joining the trove of Wall’s young but already well-loved repertoire".

If Wall's previous shows this year are anything to go by, then fans can look forward to hearing a wide range of covers and originals from his catalogue.

The Saskatchewan singer-songwriter has been covering beloved deep cuts of Merle Haggard and Ian Tyson as well as treating fans to live renditions of his own favourites, including 'Sleeping On The Blacktop' and 'Plain To See Plainsman'.
