Cruisin' Ocean City: Everything you need to know about traffic, classic car show
Cruise on through Ocean City for the 31st annual Cruisin’ event, taking place four days this week.
More than 3,000 customs, hot rods, street machines, classics and muscle cars will assemble for various car shows, contests, parades and live auctions from Thursday, May 19, through Sunday, May 22.
Throughout the week, attendees can visit the Inlet parking lot and Roland E. Powell Convention Center to see the cars on display as well as vendors, artwork, and live music.
Before you hop in your car and head to the beach, here’s everything you need to know about the 2022 OC Cruisin’ event:
Traffic and increased fines
Residents and visitors alike are reminded to tap the brakes as they cruise along Coastal Highway, as the resort town will be designated a Special Event Zone from May 17-22.
The Special Event Zone reduces established speed limits in the town. Violators will face increased fines and penalties for violations and, in extreme cases, arrest. The Ocean City Police Department will remain on high alert during the entirety of the event.
Officers from the Ocean City Police Department, Maryland State Police and the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office will strictly enforce all traffic laws. Officers will also enforce all laws for spectators who incite drivers for spinning of wheels or burn-outs, as well as for the driver.
According to the OCPD, significant traffic congestion and alternate traffic patterns are anticipated throughout the weekend. Due to the high traffic volume, all motorists are advised to plan their drives accordingly to ensure they arrive at their destinations safely and on time.

Behind the Business: Guppies Hot Rod Grille
KIMBERLY, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — One restaurant in Kimberly aims to make everyone feel welcome and free to be who they are.
This week’s Behind the Business takes us to Guppies Hot Rod Grille.
In downtown Kimberly sits Guppies Hot Rod Grille, with amazing energy and delicious food.
“This is an all-American menu, hand-pounded burgers, hand-cut chicken sandwiches, variety of salads, world-famous finger steaks, all kinds of different specials that we will put together, date night specials for the weekends,” said Aaron Gupton, the owner of Guppies Hot Rod Grille.
They also do brunch on Saturdays and Sundays.
Guppies originally opened in 2014 in Twin Falls, but they lost it in 2018 in a fire.
They relocated to Kimberly in August of 2019 and have enjoyed being a part of the Kimberly community since then.
“We provide entertainment, we do live music often, we do street dances often in the summertime, obviously a very unique atmosphere, I’m, I’ve been a car guy since I was a kid, I’ve been a food guy since I was a kid, I just slammed them both together,” said Gupton.
The motto at Guppies is, “come as you are,” something he also encourages his employees to do as well.
“We strive to provide a place where not only our staff can be themselves, but our guests when they arrive, they can be themselves,” said Gupton.
Everything is made from scratch and the restaurant is very family friendly.
They open at 11 a.m. Tuesday through Friday.
Saturday, and Sunday they open at 8 a.m.
They are closed on Mondays.
He says he loves getting to know the customers and encourages anyone who hasn’t been in yet to come down and give them a try.
“I like to give people something special something that they aren’t going to get anywhere else, I like to give people that wow factor, I like the double take when people walk out the front door they’ll turn around and kind of go wow, that was cool,” said Gupton.
Guppies Hot Rod Grille is located at 105 Main Street North in Kimberly.

Cruise operator Viking targets $11 billion valuation as IPO market stays hot
Viking Holdings, the European cruise line operator, is seeking to raise more than $1 billion in a public offering next week that could become the second-biggest IPO of 2024.
Viking is scheduled to price on April 30 and trade the next day, a person familiar with the deal told Fortune . The Pembroke, Bermuda–based company plans to sell 44 million shares at $21 to $25 each, according to a regulatory filing dated April 22. Viking will be offering 11 million shares with the remainder coming from shareholders, according to a statement . BofA Securities and JPMorgan are lead underwriters on the deal, which could end up valuing Viking—slated to trade under VIK on the New York Stock Exchange—at almost $11 billion.
Torstein Hagen, Viking’s chairman and CEO, founded the company in 1997. It has a fleet of 92 vessels that travel to all seven continents, including special expeditions to Antarctica and to the Arctic North.
“Looking toward the future, we believe there are a number of opportunities for growing Viking,” Hagen wrote in a letter accompanying the filing. “We have 24 new ships on order, with options for 12 more. We have also started to enter new markets, such as China and elsewhere in Asia, where we see significant growth potential over the long term.”
Revenue for Viking rose 48% to $4.7 billion in 2023. The company was profitable in 2022 but posted $1.86 billion in losses last year, and it’s highly leveraged, reporting $5.4 billion in total debt as of Dec. 31.
“We have substantial indebtedness and we may not be able to generate sufficient cash to service all of our indebtedness or to obtain additional financing if necessary,” Viking said in the regulatory filing.
The company is also backed by private equity. Canada Pension Plan Investment Board and TPG likely will each have nearly 5% of the firm’s voting power after the IPO.
The IPO market is bouncing back. Last week, Ibotta rose 17% during its first day of trading after pricing at $88. Rubrik, a Microsoft-backed cloud data security provider, is scheduled to list shares on Thursday and could raise as much as $713 million . Also on Thursday, Marex Group, a U.K.-based financial services platform, is expected to trade, according to IPOScoop.com.
The year’s biggest IPO still belongs to Amer Sport, the maker of Wilson tennis racquets, which raised $1.37 billion in February, according to data from Dealogic. Viking, if it prices at the top of its range, could raise as much as $1.1 billion.
