Hello to all my Kiwi friends.

Looking forward very much to visiting your lovely country again and inflicting my songs on all of you who hope to attend one of my concerts, and probably on some innocent bystanders as well. I’ve written quite a few new songs since I last toured New Zealand. And when was that I hear you ask? I can’t really remember, I never was good with dates, but I think it was when Piggy Muldoon was your prime Minister. No, couldn’t be that long surely, I think that was the first time I toured New Zealand, not the last.

Anyway, your taste in Prime Ministers has definitely improved since then, and I hope Jacinda comes to one of my concerts, she likes music so I hear. Might not like my sort of music though….. doesn’t matter really, my main hope is not that Jacinda attends one of my concerts, but that you still have hokey-pokey ice cream for sale in your country. Oh, and Bluff oysters as well……hopefully, Covid permitting, we (Pete Titchener, Emma Luker and myself) will see you October this year

Eric Bogle NZ tour

Born and raised in Scotland, he emigrated to Australia at the age of 25, to settle near Adelaide, South Australia.

Bogle's songs have covered a variety of topics and have been performed by many artists. Two of his best known songs are ‘No Man's Land’ and ‘And the Band Played Waltzing Matilda’, with the latter named one of the APRA Top 30 Australian songs in 2001, as part of the celebrations for the Australasian Performing Right Association's 75th anniversary.

Eric Bogle is touring New Zealand for possibly the last time, with long time musical collaborators Pete Titchener (guitar) and Emma Luker (violin). Don't miss the opportunity to see this legendary songwriter in concert!

Eric Bogle is a Scottish-born Australian folk singer-songwriter. Born and raised in Scotland, he immigrated to Australia at the age of 25, to settle near Adelaide, South Australia. Internationally known and respected, Bogle has been touring the world with his music for nearly 40 years, from outback Australia to the streets of New York and many places in between. 

Bogle's songs have covered a variety of topics and have been performed by many artists. Two of his best known songs are ‘No Man's Land’ and ‘And the Band Played Waltzing Matilda’, with the latter named one of the APRA Top 30 Australian songs in 2001, as part of the celebrations for the Australasian Performing Right Association's 75th anniversary. The song is a haunting evocation of the ANZAC experience fighting in the Battle of Gallipoli and has also been interpreted as a reaction to the Vietnam War.

Bogle has played twice in Gore over the years and was scheduled to perform here in 2001 but due to Covid restrictions the tour was postponed twice. He is touring New Zealand for possibly the last time, with long time musical collaborators Pete Titchener (guitar) and Emma Luker (violin). He is best known for crafting the masterpiece "The Green Fields of France (No Man's Land)" and is widely considered as one of the world's top folk music artists. He was born in Scotland and moved to Australia in 1969, where he found success as a songwriter and performer. He has written numerous other songs, including "And the Band Played Waltzing Matilda," "Now I'm Easy," and "Sitting in a Berlin Air Raid Shelter." Bogle's personalized style of songwriting often includes references to global and personal injustices, love, war, and peace. He has released over 20 albums and continues to tour and perform across the U.S., U.K., Australia, and New Zealand.

Eric Bogle is an internationally known and respected songwriter. For nearly 40 years he has toured the world with his music, inflicting his songs on innocent bystanders from outback Australia to the streets of New York and many places in between. During those 40 years he has embarked on eight tours of North America, 11 tours of Europe and many, many tours of Australia, with 4 tours of New Zealand thrown in as well. He has performed at many of the major folk and music festivals around the globe, including Port Fairy, Woodford and The National in Australia, Philadelphia, Mariposa and Vancouver in North America, the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland and the Celtic Music Festival in Lorient, France, as well as treading the boards in countless folk, footy, bowling and social clubs and arts theatres all around the world

Long to see him one more time in my lifetime

I live in California- he seems to say he has no plans to ever be back in the US - — maybe Ireland? Scotland? I have family/friends there & would plan a trip around his concert appearance.... unfortunately have no family in Australia

I've been to several Eric Bogle concerts, and enjoyed all of them very much. He puts so much meaning into his songs. Will he ever come to the Blue Mountains now, or is he semi retired?

Eric Bogle is probably best known for his now iconic song The Band Played WaltzingMatilda,but he is far from being a one-hit wonder. His songs have been recorded by Joan Baez, MaryBlack, Donovan, Slim Dusty, John Williamson, Billy Bragg, The Pogues and The Furies, just toname a few.

With 14 albums to his credit, appearances at everymajor Folk & Country Music Festival inAustralia and overseas and a touring schedule that has included eight tours of NorthAmerica, 10 times round Europe and multiple Australian shows, Eric Bogle has decided thatit is time to take it easy.

Although he has now decided to stop touring overseas, Eric is still doing the occasionalconcert/festival in Australia as the spirit moves him, which he hopes to keep doing untilsomeone switches off the lights, which he further hopes will be around 2045AD.Country Music Capital News correspondent Jon Wolfe said recently,“I recommend that ifyou haven’t seen him live, put it on your to-do list and immerse yourself in the majesty of Eric Bogle and his music".
