I have booked a holiday to the kombo beach
hotel arriving on the 3rd of December could
could anybody please tell me if it will be open.
I have checked on the tui website and they are
not taking any bookings for December, but
gambian experience holidays are.

To be honest I think that your booking is at risk. I think that you should get in touch with the operator and establish this with them. In saying that In any event , if you have booked with Tui or GE then you will not be left 'in the jungle' if the hotel is not available. As with any renovation project there is a time risk. Don't panic.
When we were in the Tui shop and asked what would happen if Kombo wasn't ready we were told that they would either offer a full refund, alternative accommodation or alternative dates and The Gambia Experience do exactly the same thing as some people who have booked for beginning of November have been offered alternative accommodation already.
It's no good going online you are best either going into a Tui shop or contacting The Gambia Experience, as they are very helpful if you ring them.
Apart from having a crystal ball to see into the future it's hard for us to say whether it will be ready or not,but from photos I saw yesterday it looks as if there's still an awful lot of work still to do
We decided to book elsewhere as we were doubtful of it being finished for December 1st.
Perhaps you said it elsewhere but do you mean you booked alternative accommodation - as theres plenty of choice in TG for a good holiday regardless - or a totally different destination, this time?
Post 4, if you mean did we book another destination then no we didn't,we were going to book Kombo but someone sent me some photos of the building work the day before we went into the Tui shop to book Kombo and we thought that it was doubtful that it would be finished by November at that time and see that since then the re launch has now been pushed back to December 1st but I have doubts that it will be ready by then so we booked another hotel in Kotu that we have been to before.

Although you might not need any PCR tests there is at least 1 test, referred to as a 2 day (& possible an 8 day test too) when you get back.

About Gambia. This small country in western Africa has become more popular recently as a beach destination for European travelers. It's a relatively short flight, there's no time difference, and lodging is generally very affordable.
