The time table app, with no actual time
If you what to know what time your train is coming tough luck, you’ve woken up and you use the app now you have to figure what 40 mins is from now as the app won’t tell you the literal time , it will however tell you the time of every train station after, so the work around is to look you the time for the station or halt prior to the one you want doh The count down also does not refresh it’s only relative to the moment you clicked to the page so it you recheck the app, it will still say xx mins away unless you recheck from the start , and if a mate or taxi is dropping you to the halt xx mins from 08:43 isn’t helpful to them either. The icon for the halt station that looks like a Wi-fi icon actual shows a zoomed in map it a halt and a road there’s literally nothing to define a local. The same zoomed in map could be used for any halt
Shocking Service; 655 route and Poorly updated app
Big big problem with your 655 service! From my own experience getting it the last 4 years or so it’s been a disaster. In my opinion at least 2 times a month the bus fails to show up and if Translink do decide to update the app to reflect this, it’s far too late. Dozens of times I have stood waiting for the 655 for it not to show up, setting me back 35 mins each time as I’ve waited at least 15 minutes and another 20 for how slow the replacement glider sets me back. Shocking service! If there was another competitor to use I would have been with them years ago! Shame Northern Ireland only has Translink
Terrible user interaction and planner that does not work!
Fine to get just times of next bus. Using the planner does not work properly when it needs to use more than one bus. At times telling me to walk the rest of the distance (30+ minutes) even though a bus is available! The new design is a user interface disaster. Should be ashamed developer. The refresh button has been removed for a pencil button. This allows you to change the text. However, the refresh button is now hidden here. One click is now two, and was not immediately found!

Publication of Public Transport Journey Planning in Northern Ireland 2016/2017
Date published: 28 June 2018
- Public transport
The Public Transport Journey Planning in Northern Ireland 2016/2017 report is now available.
This report, produced by the Analysis, Statistics and Research Branch (ASRB) of the Department for Infrastructure (DfI), presents findings from the 2016/2017 Continuous Household Survey (CHS) and this is the first year that this question set was included in the CHS. The publication is available on the ASRB website at:
- The resource most respondents were aware of for journey planning information for public transport was timetables, either on the Translink website (55%) or via hard copy (54%).
- There are large differences in awareness of journey planning resources across age groups. Just over a quarter (26%) of those aged 65 and over were aware of the availability of timetables on the Translink website compared with 70% of those aged 16-24. For all Translink journey planning resources except hard copies of timetables, awareness is significantly lower for those aged 65 and over.
- 63% of respondents used some form of journey planning resource, 18% didn’t use any form of planning resource and 20% didn’t use public transport.
- Of the respondents who used journey planning resources, 60% used a timetable on the Translink website, 41% used a hard copy of a timetable, 24% used the Journey Planner on the Translink website, 20% used the Journey Planner on the Translink mobile app and 14% used the Translink call centre.
- There are large differences in how those from different age groups access information, for example, 69% of 16-24 year-olds use timetables on the Translink website compared to 30% of those aged 65 and over, whereas those aged 65 and over are much more likely to use a hard copy of a timetable (76%) than those aged 16-24 (32%).

A total of 3,262 adults aged 16 and over were surveyed in 2016/2017 and 3,250 provided a response to the initial question.
It contains information on the proportion of people who are aware of the various methods of journey planning available on Public Transport, the proportion who use journey planning methods and the types of journey planning method used. The Department will use the information presented in this publication to assist transport providers in identifying improvements to passenger information, including how best technology can be utilised to promote awareness of and access to public transport services.
