The Voyager Series is a high quality starter kit offered by Mapex that comes with all the cymbals and hardware you need to start playing immediately!  These are awesome poplar shells and double braced hardware for extra durability.  We prefer the Rock Configuration which comes with 10-12-16 toms.  These drums are available in a handful of different finishes: Crystal Sparkle, Black, Royal Blue, Dark Red, and Snow White.

NAMM 2010: Mapex introduces Voyager Series drums

Brand new replacement for the Q Series

PRESS RELEASE: Mapex USA announced the introduction of the Voyager Drum Set Series, an entirely new entry-level product line for 2010.

All Voyager drum sets are packaged to be "ready to go" and include a full set of all-new Mapex 330 Series Hardware, a padded throne, an optional set of Mapex Cymbals, and a setup and instructional DVD. The all-basswood drums feature newly designed appointments, including lugs, mounts, badges, and bass drum claws.

The Voyager features 7.2mm, basswood shells with newly designed, low mass lugs. These small profile lugs are mounted to the shell using only a single point of contact, minimizing the holes drilled into the shell and thereby enhancing resonance. Voyager Series drums also Remo drumheads, including a self-muffling bass drum batter head.

The Voyager's bass drum claws are newly designed to be low in profile and include cushioned gaskets to protect the bass drum hoops. The bass drum's tom mount features new styling and a recessed adapter to accommodate an optional cymbal arm.

All Voyager drum sets feature newly designed Mapex 330 Series Hardware. The 330 Series Cymbal Stand features Multi-Sustain Cymbal Felts which allow players to use any combination of plastic or felt on their cymbal stands for more precise cymbal sustain. All sets include a T250A padded throne, and a Mapex 330 Series straight cymbal stand, snare stand, hi-hat stand. and bass drum pedal.

Mapex Voyager drum sets also include an instructional setup DVD, hosted by Drumming's Global Ambassador and Mapex Artist, Dom Famularo.

Voyager is available in Black, Burgundy, or Snow White covered finishes and three 5-piece configurations: Standard/VR5255TCZ (22x18 bass drum, 12x9 and 13x10 tom toms, 16x16 floor tom, 14x5.5 snare drum), Fusionease/ VR5245TCZ (22x18 bass drum, 10x8 and 12x9 tom toms, 14x14 floor tom, 14x5.5 snare drum) and Jazz/VR5045TCZ (20x18 bass drum, 10x8 and 12x9 tom toms, 14x14 floor tom, 14x5.5 snare drum). The tom drum kits were introduced in the early part of the 20 th century. A tom is a cylindrical drum that has no snares . The sizes of toms range from between six inches to 20 inches.

Just like any other drum type, toms also need to be suspended or mounted on an object for convenience. Thus, Mapex has the most convenient tom mounts in the entire globe . The Mapex tom mounts can also be used to mount floor toms.

In other instances, the tom mounts can be used to hang bass drums and snare drums. The rim mounts use a standard hanging tom mount to hang tom and snare drums. They are fitted to the rim rather than the drum.

Therefore, it is much convenient to have tom mounts for you tom drums. It will make your performance extraordinary. You will also enjoy your drumming because you will be comfortable while playing them .

Mapex SONIClear tom holders are well designed to support all the weight of the tom. The holder is much durable as it is made of high-quality material . These holder does not take away precious real estate from your setup or affects tone from your drums.

The Sweetwater drummers like this holder because of its integrated spring-loaded clamp that secures any hi-hat tom stand or cymbal to a diameter of about 1.25 inches.

This holder also has pairs of thumbscrews that help the drummer adjust the Mapex toms to a required position. A memory screw helps the player avoid frequent adjustments. The memory screw is useful because you will not make adjustments while performing; thus, it will keep your toms in check .

This holder can support a single tom and has simple functionality and multi-purpose adaptability that enables them to mount single items. It has a Ball-in-Socket tilter that allows you to keep your items at the position.

Millions of viewers across Mexico and North America witnessed a historic total solar eclipse on April 8, 2024. Here are some of the best photos from the day.

On April 8, 2024, a total solar eclipse drew its enormous shadow over North America, cutting a 115-mile-wide (185 kilometers), 10,000-mile-long (16,000 km) path of sudden darkness across the continent.

Starting in Mexico, the eclipse moved through 15 U.S. states and was visible to an estimated 44 million people.  If you didn't catch the stunning spectacle in person, here are all of our favorite photos taken from eclipse watching parties throughout the Americas.

The first totality began in Mazatlán, Mexico, where onlookers saw the moon pass in front of the solar disk. Just before totality, viewers were treated to a thin diamond-like ring of sunlight shimmering through valleys on the moon's outer surface.

After the moon had completely blocked off the sun's face, all that could be seen were thin purple plumes in the corona caused by solar eruptions.

Meanwhile, the moon began to carve the sun into a toenail-thin sliver above Fort Worth, Texas.

Then, just before totality, the diamond ring effect could be seen. As the final beads of sunlight zipped through the valleys on the moon's limb, the two bodies appeared in the sky as a ring studded with brilliant diamonds.

Later, in space, the European Space Agency 's Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite captured the shadow of the moon sweeping across North America.

The eclipse passed over Cleveland, Ohio, where the Chicago White Sox and the Cleveland Guardians were just about to face off. Baseball fans and players alike flocked to the field to capture photos of the eclipse; this image shows a composite of the partial and total phases of the eclipse as seen from Progressive Field.

During totality, the sun's corona shone in the darkened sky, high above the stadium lights at Progressive Field in Cleveland, Ohio.

Clouds obscured much of the total phase of the eclipse at Niagara Falls, where millions of people flocked to both the U.S. an Canadian sides of the river to witness the spectacle. While the corona is obscured in this image, the horizon glows with the 360-degree sunset effect that's synonymous with totality.

Not far away in Hamilton, Ontario, eclipse chasers flocked to the edge of Lake Ontario for a view of totality. Here, the partial phase of the eclipse begins above a haze of clouds, as seen through a pair of orange-tinted solar eclipse glasses.

The sun's corona shines in the dark sky during totality over Glover, Vermont.

No less spectacular is Mizar the dog, who awaited the total solar eclipse at the Sacre Coeur de Beauvoir Sanctuary in Sherbrook, Canada.

The eclipse bathed the sky in ethereal light above Torreon, Mexico.

The moon descending upon the sun created the conditions for this moody photograph, taken through cloud cover, in Brady, Texas.
