Ndhovu Safari Lodge  is about 20 km south of Divundu (Bagani) Bridge, a peaceful riverine retreat situated on the western banks of the Okavango River, overlooking the well-known Caprivi Game Park (Bwabwata National Park).

In true safari tradition, Ndhovu Safari Lodge offers luxury tented accommodation, each tent being fully equipped with its own En-suite bathroom facilities. The charming thatched lapa overlooking the banks of the river, provides residents outstanding game and bird-viewing opportunities whilst enjoying sundowners at the bar and delicious three course meals. In addition, there is on offer an exclusive camping area fitted with private ablution, braai, power-point and water-tap.

Activities offered at the lodge includes sundowner cruises, fishing excursions, village tours and game drives. The Mahango Game reserve is a mere 2 km away, offering excellent opportunities to view elephant, buffalo, red lechwe and sable antelope, to name a few, in typical riverine and swampland habitat.

Our tents (2-4 people) are all equipped with an enclosed, newly built bathroom, shower (warm water), toilet, fan, power connection, mosquito nets and towels. Each tent is located directly on the river and from the veranda you can look directly over the Okavango and the Buffalo Park opposite.

The holiday homes (2-4 people / room 2 people) are equipped just like the tents and are also all located directly on the river and also have a veranda with a view of the Buffalo Park. There is also the possibility of self-catering.

Our campsites are equipped with a toilet, shower (warm water), water connection, barbecue area and a fireplace. Of course it is possible to book meals in the lodge.

Ndhovu Safari Lodge is a no-frills lodge, somewhat reminiscent of an old-style African safari lodge. It used to be our lodge of choice in this area, and whilst the location is still good, things could do with a bit of a freshen up. As a result, we feel that there are now better options.

About 20 km southeast of the Divundu Bridge along road D3403 (C48), just behind the Popa Falls, is the exit to Ndhovu Safari Lodge. A quiet retreat on the river, located on the western banks of the Kavango River, overlooking the famous Mahango game reserve.

Ndhovu Safari Lodge offers accommodation in tents, river tents on the water and regular camping pitches. Various activities are offered at the lodge. Such as sunset cruises, fishing excursions, village tours and game drives. There are more than 400 bird species known in this area, of which you are likely to see a large number.

The Mahango Game Reserve is just 2 km away and offers excellent opportunities for spotting elephants, buffalo and sable antelope. Ndhovu is only a ten minute drive from the Bagani runway. By road it is 20 km from Bagani Bridge (Divundu), 225 km from Rundu and 340 km from Katima Mulilo, an ideal stopover between Etosha National Park and Victoria Falls.

Opened in 1989, Ndhovu Safari Lodge is the oldest establishment of its kind on the Okavango River. The area is home to large game such as elephant and hippo and to more than 400 different bird species such as the black-crowned night heron, purple gallinule and carmine bee-eater – heaven for any ornithologist. Ndhovu Safari Lodge also offers houseboat safaris on the mighty Okavango. During the rainy season the area around the lodge is very often flooded; then Ndhovu is transformed into an island on the Okavango.

The Lodge provides accommodation in luxury tents, all with en-suite shower facilities. For those seeking something special, and particularly close to nature, there is also an en-suite floating tent. Here you may experience close encounters with crocodiles and hippos at night . . . An exclusive campsite is also available. The lapa, housing the restaurant and bar, overlooks the riverbank which is often frequented by elephants and hippos. Over 400 species of birds have been seen at the Lodge. There are ample opportunities for spotting some of them, or the wild animals and water creatures around the Lodge, nearby in the Mahango Game Reserve or further afield in the Zambezi Game Park (Bwabwata National Park). The Lodge Grounds feature beautiful lush, shaded lawns sloping gently down to the riverbank. The charming thatched lapa provides uninterrupted views of the riverbanks where elephants and hippos frequently converge at dusk, providing a unique accompaniment as Guests enjoy their sundowners and delicious three-course meals. The Lodge boasts an attractive swimming pool. Ndhovu Lodge operates its own cruise boat to offer a programme of guided river trips. Also available are a wide range of interesting excursions ranging from fishing and birding to local village tours and cross-border trips to visit the vast collection of ancient rock paintings and drawings discovered in the Tsodilo Hills in Botswana.

Ndhovu Safari Lodge

Approximately 20km southeast of the Divundu Bridge along road D3403 (C48), just behind the Popa Falls, is the turn-off to Ndhovu Safari Lodge, a peaceful riverine retreat situated on the western banks of the Okavango River, overlooking the well-known Caprivi Game Park (Bwabwata National Park).

In true safari tradition, Ndhovu Safari Lodge offers luxury tented accommodation, each tent being fully equipped with its own en-suite bathroom facilities. For the adventurous type, we offer a Rivertent on the water. Here you can feel real close to crocodiles, as well as the hippos. On its own small deck, you can either relax in the sun or try catching the famous tigerfish. In addition, we offer an exclusive camping area.

Experience nature at its best on an all-inclusive two or three day boat safari on the houseboat “ Hippo “.

The charming thatched lapa overlooks the banks of the river, where elephants and hippo sometimes congregate, providing residents outstanding game and bird-viewing opportunities whilst enjoying sundowners at the bar and delicious three course meals.

Facilities offered at the lodge includes sundowner cruises, fishing excursions, village tours and game drives whilst the birdlife in the area will satisfy the most ardent bird-watcher – over 400 different species have been recorded in the surroundings. L'accueil, la beauté du lieu, le calme et beaucoup de activités. Safari divers.

L'accueil était parfait, nous étions au bord de l'eau les hippos droit devant, les crocos pas bien loin, les oiseaux partout, les repas étaient très bien pour le lieu ou nous sommes, nous avons visité par nous même le Mahango park sans soucis, puis avec le staff du lodge nous sommes partis sur l'autre rive le buffalo park ca vaut le détour des troupeaux de buffles et d'éléphants, de gros crocos, et j'en passe.

Very good lodge, big room with private bathroom. Equipped with stove, microwave, refrigerator, etc. The rooms are literally on the okavango River, and we could see and hear the wild animals in the Buffalo park. Highly recommend to take 1 or 2 of the activities the lodge offers. Very recommended
