Under the motto “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion” and the dress code “The Garden of Time”, Korda opted for a literal interpretation.

With stars like Matt Damon, Zendaya or Keith Urban attending, the fundraiser event for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute raises eight-figure sums each year.

The Nelly Invitational will be an experience to remember

By madison evans, may 04, 2024.

Laughing.jpg

Bradenton, FL – Excitement was in the air at The Concession Golf Club when 66 AJGA players arrived to prepare for the inaugural, all-girls Nelly Invitational. The field is ready to tackle the challenges of the course while competing against the top female junior golfers in the world. Each player is hoping to hoist the trophy adorning the name of the #1 LPGA Tour player in the world, Nelly Korda.

A tour-like experience welcomed the juniors from the start. At registration, they received beautifully assembled swag bags that made them feel like the pros. Then, they were greeted by a luxurious clubhouse that led them out to a perfectly manicured course, guaranteed to impress any golfer. If it was even possible, the energy turned up a notch when Nelly Korda drove up in a golf cart toting her Chevron Championship bag which was accentuated by the Florida sun.

“I am feeling pretty amazing with the weather and course conditions and all,” said Amy Lee, 16, of Langley, British Columbia, Canada. “I saw Nelly just now and she obviously looked fantastic and confident and I am just trying to live up to her and play my game.”

Korda’s champion presence was felt by all. “You can see all the hard work and dedication Nelly Korda puts in,” said Irene Kim, age 16, of Columbia, Maryland. Korda’s commitment to the sport was evident when she took a few minutes to putt after all players tee’d off for their practice rounds.

Korda is more than a top professional, she is an inspiration to all of the girls out in the field. “Nelly is inspiring all golfers right now with her five-streak win and it is really cool to be able to see someone dominate the game at her level,” said Aphrodite Deng, age 14 of Short Hills, New Jersey.

Anna Huang, 15, of Coto De Caza, California shared similar feelings, “Nelly is my favorite golfer, she’s my role model and I look up to her a lot. She inspires me to work hard and be the best version of myself.”

With freshly trimmed greens designed to play fast with difficult slopes, this competition could come down to a putting contest. The juniors have been preparing as much as they can to make sure they can play their best.

The top five players to watch in The Nelly Invitational field are:

  • Ryleigh Knaub of Debary, Florida - No. 11 in the Rolex AJGA Rankings
  • Aphrodite Deng of Short Hills, New Jersey – No. 13 in the Rolex AJGA Rankings
  • Anna Huang of Coto De Caza, California – No. 14 in the Rolex AJGA Rankings
  • Amy Lee of Langley, British Columbia, Canada – No. 15 in the Rolex AJGA Rankings
  • Irene Kim of Columbia, Maryland – No. 16 in the Rolex AJGA Rankings

“Practice makes perfect,” said Lee. “The course is just beautiful, and it is in really good shape. So I just want to play and get to know the course and find room for improvement because golf is always about improvement.” Kim and Lee both feel the Bermuda grass might be challenging so they were eager to practice and get to know the course. Others are focused on keeping their normal practice routine. Ryleigh Knaub, 17, of Debary, FL said, “I prepare the same for every event, same practice routine, play before I come out here, eat healthy, and drink a lot of water.”

The top five players seemed to share the same, simple goal - play their best and have fun. Ear to ear smiles were proof they were having a good time. They even laughed as sandhill cranes walked across the practice range coming feet away from their club heads and stopping all play.

Up ahead this weekend, the golfers will continue to be treated like pros. The TaylorMade Tour Truck, donned with colorful LED lights and the latest equipment, sits by the practice green ready to assist players. Players can also swing into the S2 Cognition Mobile Lab where they can take a test to learn more about their mental game. Then, as a special surprise, LPGA Tour player and World Golf Hall of Fame member, Hollis Stacy will serve as a guest announcer on the first tee.

The players are thankful to the AJGA for experiences like The Nelly Invitational.

“I am so honored and I feel that AJGA has been really generous for all junior players, said Lee. “They have opened up a lot of junior opportunities for us and I think that will really help not only through college and university but for whatever paths I have with my golf career. I am really thankful for them.”

Cognizant Founders Cup 2024 Preview: Can Nelly Korda extend her run to six in a row?

Published: 06 May 2024 Last updated: 07 May 2024

Jin Young Ko is a three-time winner of the Cognizant Founders Cup

Jin Young Ko is a three-time winner of the Cognizant Founders Cup

The Cognizant Founders Cup returns this week to Upper Montclair Country Club in New Jersey for the third consecutive year on the LPGA Tour.

Cognizant has been the main sponsor of the tournament since it moved to New Jersey in 2021 and the company has been a champion of women’s sports as a whole, especially golf. This year’s LPGA event has a prize fund of $3m, the highest outside the five major championships and the CME Group Tour Championship.

Jin Young Ko has dominated the event since 2019. Across the previous four tournaments (2020 was canceled due to the COVID-19 Pandemic), the South Korean golfer has won three times, including a playoff victory in 2023.

Jin Young Ko is one of the favourites to win the Cognizant Founders Cup

Ko overcame a four-shot deficit in the final round to prevail over Minjee Lee at the first playoff hole as the New Zealander missed her par putt to hand the title to the 27-year-old for the third time.

She will be looking to win the event for the fourth time this week, but all eyes will naturally be on Nelly Korda , who is one of the hottest commodities in golf right now. After five successive wins on tour , Korda will compete for an unprecedented sixth consecutive title in New Jersey.

Nelly Korda won her fifth consecutive tournament at the first Major of the LPGA Tour Season

Who is playing the Cognizant Founders Cup?

Korda headlines the field and will be joined by four other winners on the LPGA Tour this season. Hannah Green, Lydia Ko , Bailey Tardy, and Patty Tavatanakit have remarkably shared every single LPGA Tour event on the schedule in 2024 that hasn’t been won by Korda, showing how strong the field is this week.

Defending champion Ko returns along with past winners Sei Young Kim, Minjee Lee, Anna Nordqvist, and Stacy Lewis, while Georgia Hall , Gemma Dryburgh, and Jodi Ewart Shadoff all aim to become the first British player to win the event.

Lydia Ko is one of the few players, other than Korda, to have one on the LPGA Tour this season

What is the format of the Cognizant Founders Cup?

It is a standard strokeplay event played over 72 holes with a cut after 36 holes (two rounds) and the player who achieves the lowest score over four rounds will win the tournament.

Where is the Cognizant Founders Cup being played?

Upper Montclair Country Club will host the event for the third year. The par 71, 6,656-yard layout has been a familiar course for hosting LPGA tour events, doing so in 1979, 1980, 1983, 1984, and 2007-2009. Originally designed by A.W. Tillinghast, the course was remodeled by Robert Trent Jones Sr in 1956.

Fans of The Sopranos will also recognize the course as it was host to several golf scenes shot in the iconic show, and it is not for the faint-hearted.

Arguably the most difficult hole on the front nine is the par-4 8th, as a solid tee shot is required to avoid the desert areas. Players then face a long approach to a challenging green which has a lake situated on the right side.

The back nine features a range of difficult holes, none more so than the par-3 14th. Coming in at 214 yards, receiving breaks and slopes make this a hole where par will be a good score during the closing stages.

The Cognizant Founders Cup is played at the Upper Montclair Country Club in New Jersey

Who will win the Cognizant Founders Cup?

Going for a record-breaking sixth consecutive victory, Korda has everything at her disposal to make history in New Jersey, but there will be a plethora of players looking to end her dominance this week.

Three-time winner of the event, Ko, finished in a tie for fourth last week at the JM Eagle LA Championship, coming into the tournament following a positive showing as she aims to win the Founders Cup for the fourth time in five starts.

Green is another name to watch out for. The 27-year-old has won two events already this season yet has also missed the cut in two tournaments – the Chevron Championship and the Fir Hills Seri Pak Championship – suggesting consistency has been her biggest issue.

Maja Stark finished 2nd, 2nd, 40th, and T3rd in her previous four starts. The Swede will be aiming to add to her solitary LPGA win in 2022.

Selected odds (correct 07 May, 09.00):

Nelly Korda 7/2

Jin Young Ko 16/1

Brooke Henderson 16/1

Atthaya Thitkul 18/1

Hae Ran Ryu 22/1

Lydia Ko 25/1

Celine Boutier 33/1

Maja Stark 35/1

Rose Zhang 40/1

Linn Grant 45/1

Maja Stark wins the 2022 ISPS Handa World Invitational

How much does the winner of the Cognizant Founders Cup receive?

The prize fund for the event is $3m, with the winner receiving a cheque for $450k and second place taking home $282,976.

The party is over for Rory McIlroy , who had a good old time of it after teaming-up with Shane Lowry in capturing the Zurich ... and, with Scottie Scheffler skipping this week’s Wells Fargo tournament – one of the PGA Tour’s $20 million signature events – as he awaits the arrival of his firstborn, the Northern Irishman returns to a favoured course at Quail Hollow as the headline act in the field.

McIlroy’s breakthrough win on the PGA Tour came at the Charlotte course in 2010 and he has also won the tournament in 2015 and again in 2021, before its elevation to one of the PGA Tour’s signature status events.

Lowry – who also enjoyed partying after his New Orleans win – and Séamus Power are also in the limited field in North Carolina.

Scheffler, however, is not. The player and his wife Meredith are expecting the birth of their child at any time. Scheffler hasn’t played since winning the RBC Heritage in Hilton Head last month – his fourth win in five starts as he strengthened his position at the head of the world rankings – and could yet have a decision to make about next week’s US PGA.

In winning last month’s Masters at Augusta, Scheffler admitted he would leave the course if his wife went into labour. “You only have your first child once, so I would rather be at home if that is going to happen,” remarked Scheffler at the time.

McIlroy, the world number two, has some work to do – even in Scheffler’s absence – to catch the American in the rankings any time soon. Scheffler at 14.71 points average is more than double that of McIlroy, at 7.05.

Word of Mouth

“Of course it stings, right? You feel like you had it right there and let it slip away” – Ben Kohles after fluffing a chip and bogeying the final hole of the CJ Cup Byron Nelson, ultimately finishing one stroke behind maiden tour winner Taylor Pendrith.

Lauren Walsh continues her globetrotting rookie season

Lauren Walsh’s globetrotting in her rookie season on the Ladies European Tour takes her to yet another new stamp on her passport, as the Kildare golfer has earned a place in the $1 million Aramco Team Series event in Seoul, South Korea.

Walsh has made the cut in four of the five tournaments she has played on the LET so far – which has seen her compete in Kenya, Morocco, South Africa and Australia – and that solid start to her professional career has her at 51st in the LET order of merit standings.

This week’s tournament in South Korea, however, represents the biggest purse event so far for Walsh in an event that features a 36-holes team element along with the 54-hole individual strokeplay event. World number seven Charley Hull is the headline act.

On the LPGA Tour, Leona Maguire – aiming to bounce back from a rare missed cut – and Stephanie Meadow are in the field for the Cognizant Founders tournament in Clifton, New Jersey, starting on Thursday, where world number one Nelly Korda will seek to continue her amazing form which has seen her win five straight tournaments.

By the Numbers

Graeme McDowell was a distant 37th behind winner Brooks Koepka in the LIV Singapore tournament at the weekend. Koepka collected a pay-day of $4 million for his troubles but G-Mac’s take was a not to be sniffed at $140,333.

On this day ... May 7th, 1995

Mark Calcavecchia unlocked the code to winning, after a three-year drought on tour, when he went flag-chasing in the final round of the Bell South Classic at Atlanta Country Club.

The popular player, known as Calc, shot a final round 66 for a 72 hole total of 17-under-par 271 to claim his seventh win on the PGA Tour and first since his Phoenix Open success in 1972.

Calcavecchia started the final round playing catch-up on Jim Gallagher Jnr who held the 54-hole lead and the margin increased to four strokes at the turn. “I just kept firing at it and the right things happened,” said the man from Nebraska, who came home in 31 strokes to catch and move ahead of Gallagher. “It was amazing,” said Calcavecchia.

Great to be back on contention. I fought with everything I had on a day when it didn’t feel great. Thankful for my caddie Jamie Lane for keeping me going. I’m excited about my golf again. Belgium's Manon De Roey claimed her second Ladies European Tour title at the South Africa Women's Open

Belgium's Manon De Roey cruised to her second Ladies European Tour title after a dominant four-shot victory at the South Africa Women's Open on Sunday.

She led by three shots on 14-under par before the start of play, and managed to take on the windy conditions at Erinvale carding an even-par round of 70 to claim her second title.

De Roey started well and carded her first birdie of the day on the par-5 seventh before dropping a shot after missing the green on the par-3 eighth whilst Morocco's Ines Laklalech and Sweden's Lisa Pettersson dropped shots early on.

De Roey managed to recover thanks to a birdie in front of the clubhouse on the ninth which took her lead to five whilst Pettersson and Laklalech found trouble on the same hole.

As victory loomed, De Roey made eight straight pars in a row before dropping a shot on the 18th after three-putting the par-4.

In second place on 10-under par finished New Zealand's Momoka Kobori and England's Gabriella Cowley. The latter carded a round of 70 (-2) to also claim the Sunshine Ladies Tour Order of Merit.

Luke Donald early Ryder Cup homework at Bethpage Black ought to scare Team USA

Luke Donald paid a visit to the Long Island track, which is set to host the Ryder Cup for the first time in 2025.

Share All sharing options for: Luke Donald early Ryder Cup homework at Bethpage Black ought to scare Team USA

Luke Donald, Ryder Cup

Preparations for the 2025 Ryder Cup are already underway, and the Americans still do not have a captain.

Rumors around Tiger Woods leading Team USA at Bethpage Black, where he won the 2002 U.S. Open , have picked up steam recently, but the PGA of America has yet to make an official announcement.

Perhaps one comes after next week’s PGA Championship at Valhalla, in which Woods will compete.

On the flip side, Luke Donald , who led Europe to glory at Marco Simone in 2023, will return as captain in 2025.

The Englishman received overwhelming praise from the Europeans for his leadership and team-building skills. He also executed brilliant strategy, pushing the right buttons with his pairings while setting up the golf course to better suit his side. Hence, the DP World Tour selected Donald to lead the team again.

He is not taking his job lightly once more, even though the competition does not begin at Bethpage Black for another 16 months.

As such, Donald visited the Long Island course on Monday and shared the news on his Instagram.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Luke Donald (@lukedonald)

Famously closed to the public on Mondays for course maintenance, Donald got an exclusive look at the Black Course with no one else present.

The sign that greets golfers on the first tee does not lie. The layout is challenging, with each hole featuring complex bunkers and doglegs that create difficult angles. Thick, gnarly, and healthy rough lines each fairway, punishing any tee shot that does not find the short grass. The greens are relatively benign but true, but missing approaches in the wrong places will lead to bogies or worse.

Luckily for Donald, he has competed in major championships on the Black Course before. He tied for 18th in his first U.S. Open appearance there in 2002 but missed the cut at Bethpage in 2009.

Bethpage Black, Ryder Cup

He last competed on the Black Course in 2016, when he tied for 53rd at The Barclays—the first round of the FedEx Cup Playoffs at the time. After shooting a 2-under 69 on day one, the Englishman carded rounds of 71, 72, and 75 to finish at 4-over for the championship.

And yet, the Americans still do not have a leader, while Donald and the Europeans have gotten a head start in the preparation.

That should sound the alarm for Team USA to get moving on their processes because their record against the Europeans over the last three decades is poor at best. Sure, the Americans have triumphed in the previous two Ryder Cups on home soil, but the last thing Team USA would want to experience again is a repeat of the Miracle at Medinah in 2012. The Europeans stormed back from a 10-to-6 deficit going into Sunday singles and stole the cup on the final holes.

That marks the last time a team won a Ryder Cup on the road.

Alas, Donald and the Europeans already have a head start on achieving just that in 2025.

Janet Jackson extends Together Again tour, this time with Nelly, and 6 California shows

Good times we'll share again: Janet Jackson is extending her Together Again tour — this time with Nelly joining in on the fun.

Just about a year after she announced the initial outing, the showbiz icon on Wednesday confirmed a 35-date run across the United States and Canada this summer that will include the "Hot in Herre" rapper at all the shows.

"Hey u guys! By popular demand, we’re bringing the Together Again Tour back to North America this summer with special guest Nelly!" Jackson wrote Wednesday on Instagram, sharing a sizzle reel for the tour. "It’ll be so much fun! Tickets go on sale Friday 1/19. We can’t wait to see you ♥️☀️ #TogetherAgainTour"

Jackson's ninth concert tour originally included 36 sold-out shows and was the highest-selling of her career, according to concert promoter LiveNation. The "All for You" and "Got 'Til It's Gone" singer will play six California shows, launching the extended run in Palm Desert on June 4. After that, she'll perform at the North Island Credit Union Amphitheatere in Chula Vista on June 6 and at the Kia Forum in Inglewood on June 8.

Additional Golden State shows are set for Anaheim on June 9, Sacramento on June 11 and San Francisco on June 12. The five-time Grammy and two-time Emmy Award winner's tour will also hit several big markets, including Chicago, Boston, Detroit, Brooklyn, Orlando and Atlanta before closing out the tour on July 30 at the Footprint Center in Phoenix.

"The Together Again tour will offer everyone the chance to reunite with Ms. Jackson in celebration of her 50th anniversary in entertainment and spotlight milestones for three of Jackson’s most critically acclaimed albums — 25 years of 'The Velvet Rope,' 30 years of 'janet' and 35 years of 'Rhythm Nation,'" Live Nation said in a statement. The tour features her chart-topping hits and the new leg promises a "powerhouse performance" from Nelly.

Ticket presale begins Wednesday and will run through general on-sale, which begins Friday on LiveNation.com .

The "That's the Way Love Goes" and "Scream" singer — the younger sister of the late King of Pop Michael Jackson — kicked off the Together Again tour in April with a 40-plus-song set, with special guest Ludacris and a guest appearance from “Today” co-host and superfan Sheinelle Jones . She wrapped her initial leg of the tour on Dec. 1 with a World AIDS Day performance at the NRG Arena in Houston.

Before launching the extended tour, Jackson will kick off the 2023 Music Making Waves concert series at the Atlantis Paradise Island resort on April 27. A portion of concert proceeds will be used to support the Atlantis Blue Project Foundation, a nonprofit working to protect the ocean and ensure that the Bahamas remain a haven for marine wildlife, organizers said in a December statement to The Times.

From East to West with London ( 14 days )

This was the first tour I took, actually I prefer taking cruises. But Euromundo surely was a very good tour. I enjoyed my tour from Vienna to London(14 days). Our Tour Manager Matheus/Matteo was incredibly amazing, professional very helpful, compasionate, funny and right on time. I totally enjoyed the tour and would highly recommend to my friends.

Europe Jewel

This is my first tour experience and I am in no position to compare, but our team Explore Together 23 was exceptional, we easily blended together as one big family, caring for each other where needed. i had a motto of “making our dreams bigger than our memories “ to which I shared with some of our team members. Matt is a historian in his own right, giving us lectures, without notes; on the history of the Country we are about to enter into. His timing on his series was perfectly timed that sets the tone of excitement for us. Another thing worth mentioning is his professionalism and efficiency in dealing with issues that could affect our schedule. But he has also to strike the balance between the time involved in dealing with the issue and the challenge presented to arived at resolving the issue at hand. Pascal, on the other hand; is a Star, very efficient and reliable in his driving skills that puts every body at ease. His music added life to the team, keeping them entertained during the long haul. He is competent in following impromptu directions from our local tour guide, this happened because there was huge demonstrations at Budapest that time that it was required of us to changed routes. He can easily manoeuvre sharp bends and tight spots. Matt and Pascal had a great teamwork. I am convinced they can easily get a 5 ratings each.

ScanBaltic Tour Tour

ScanBaltic Tour

overall I think the tour was well worth it for what you paid for and what was included Accommodation was good, (beds were comfortable ) buffet Breakfast every morning were good and the buses were pretty comfortable - I would say some parts of the tour were a bit rushed and you would have liked to have spent more time at some places, however as it is a "highlights" tour of quite a few countries, time was in short supply. It did give you good idea and feel for where you would like to go back too though. The Tour guides however helpful and friendly they were, I feel could have been a bit more organized and clear in so far as communicating information on i.e times to meet back, leaving times etc.. etc.. Overall I had a good time , enjoyed what I saw and would recommend this tour as it was well worth the money.

The Best of Eastern Europe Tour

The Best of Eastern Europe

Very well planned and organized. CEO was round-the-clock attentive to the trip and each individual. Lodgings were excellent and well selected geographically. My only criticism would be that the name of the tour should be Central and not Eastern Europe. Would definitely recommend Gadventures to fellow travelers.

Tour from Athens to Dubrovnik or Split: 7 Balkan countries in 14 days

Excellent! Very well organised, extremely interesting and informative. The most famous ancient sites in Greece mixed with lots of cultural activities and a variety of geographical areas. Our tour director, Nikos Kontogiannis, was superb. Nikos has a great sense of humour, is extremely knowledgable and an excellent organiser. We were very impressed!

For the most part the tour was excellent, but started to fall apart when we reached Paris. We changed our tour leader and our group was split into 2 groups, leaving some of us not getting what we had been led to believe by our previous leader. Of the two groups one leader, Israel bent over backwards to get us the tours we had expected to be offered, but the other leader, Patricia? was completely unhelpful, she told me that she didn’t care about my problem! When I told Patricia that I thought she was very unhelpful she became aggressive toward me by standing over me, puffing out her chest and glaring at me as she told me to “GET OFF MY BUS!” Anyway we did get off her bus and thankfully for Israel he got us the tour we wanted. Israel acted in a professional way, he was honest, proactive and above all, he was extremely helpful! Thank you Israel ????

A great fast-paced tour that was well led by our wonderful guide Ivan!

Magnificent Four Tour

Magnificent Four

It is reasonably priced. The meals included and the hotels were not the greatest but i signed up for the sights to see and it wasn’t disappointing overall. Maybe there was a little too much sights that we didn’t have enough time to enjoy each stop but overall was worth it. The reason i skipped review of tour guide in the options because we had 4 tour guides (shout outs to 2 Juans, Julian, and Veronica) and they all did good. There were 3 local guides - the guide in Berlin and Paris did a fantastic job, while the one in Prague could do better (maybe more practice and she’ll get there eventually). One thing that could be improved on is communication- there are couple of times that we didn’t receive information changes as to meeting time, there was no orientation, and there was no information posted on the hotel front desk. It may not be the tour director’s fault because at times they might be receiving information late as well. There is a change of tour director and group at every destination which is good and bad depending on what type of group you started with. If you started with a fun group and a guide, unfortunately the guide changes in the next destination and the fun group may be split due to large number or because of different destinations. Also, i think there are certain stops that was included in the itinerary but we were not able to go due to weather or if we did, the day wasn’t suited. There should be other options to replace these. Like we stopped at some place in Berlin but it was a Sunday and the majority of shops and restaurants were closed. The same happened in Grindelwald. The weather wasn’t really cooperating and there was a place where we were supposed to go but was closed due to weather condition. So we just went, ate a decent lunch (included in the tour) after freezing outside, then rode the train back down and onto the bus. The consolation price is the astonishing mountain view along the way. After almost 10 hours of going to the mountain most of it spent on the bus, no one was even interested to see Lucerne anymore! The transfer from Switzerland to Paris was a very long ride! From 7:30am to 9pm. There was a couple of hours stop at Bern on the way and it was a pretty little city. I think we could have just skipped Zurich and went to Bern directly. To sum up- would i take this tour again? Yes , I would. I’d like to try it at a different season (maybe Spring). And I would also recommend it to a friend who wants to see a lot of places in Europe at a reasonable price.

European Cavalcade (End Paris, 18 Days) Tour

European Highlights Tour

European Highlights

I enjoyed visiting all the places that were on the tour and to see the beauty of everything. However, it was very disappointing to not visit the lake Como which was the main reason I joined the tour. Overall the rest of it was a good experience and loved it.

All About Balkans (4 Star Hotels) Tour

All About Balkans (4 Star Hotels)

It was amazing experience all together, visited multiple different places different cultures and full of history. Guide Boyjan and driver Sasha were incredible. I would be much prefer little space i between for a little breath also bit more priority for dining
  • €150 deposit on some dates Some departure dates offer you the chance to book this tour with a lower deposit.

The Great Adventure Tour

The Great Adventure

I truly enjoyed traveling with the group. Europamundo did a good job facilitating the trip. Though, we did have a little trouble keeping to the itinerary near the end. I would make a few changes to some of the highlighted stops in order to add in a little more free time.

What people love about Fully Guided Tours in Europe

The tour was awesome. Too bad it was short. Our Tour leader Noddy perform extremely well job organizing and controlling our big group so we was on time everywhere. Our driver Dennis professionalism is off the charts. Especially when we was driving through narrow streets of Italy. I would recommend this tour to others
I did the ScanBaltic tour during the winter holiday season and it is a lot of distance to cover within a short amount of days. While I did greatly enjoy the trip, the Scandinavian part of the trip had several bumps in the road and did not leave much time to actual explore and experience the cities. We spent many hours on the bus during the day often arriving to the cities in the evening after the museums and major tourist destinations are already closed, so all you could do was eat maybe a dinner and briefly walk around for 2-3 hours before going to the hotel. Days are short in the winter so you couldn’t really see many of the main spots in the evening either. Additionally with this tour, the Spanish speaking tour guide did a much better thorough explanation of the history and description of our destinations than the English speaking one. We often had to ask some of the bilingual group members for the full information of what the Spanish speaking tour guide relayed. The big problem of the Scandinavian part of the tour was our bus getting pulled over by the police in Norway where we sat on a bus for 3 hours and we’re not allowed to leave, before anyone told us anything. This resulted in our New Years being spent at a gas station in Norway. We also missed Aarhus and time in Odense due to disorganization. However, once I joined up with the next group for the Baltics tour it was AMAZING. The tour guide Jose provided a lot of information about our destinations, and it was the same in both Spanish, English, and Portuguese. He was extremely helpful with giving tips and taking care of everyone in the tour group. He really made it a personal experience. This part of the tour also had a great amount of time allocated for each city and we could actually go to museums, main tourist spots, shops, etc. And experience the city and culture. For solo travelers: I went as a solo female traveler. On the Scandinavian part of the tour, there were several solo travelers both male and female in the group whom were very welcoming and ended up coming together as a group to make sure no one was alone for the holidays. I felt completely safe throughout the entire duration of the tour. I opted for the option to do a room share but never ended up being placed in a room with another solo traveler. I got lucky and had a private room 17/17 days. General clarification: when signing up for the tour, it will say look at the boards in the hotel for information about tours, departure times, etc. I was a little nervous about this and why a group chat in WhatsApp wasn’t just used to convey this information. You only have to look at the reception for information about the start of your tour on day 1. Any other day, your guides will tell you exactly what time and where you will need to be to depart and/or go on tours. My only suggestion would be for the Scandinavian tour to have 2-3 extra days added or maybe traveler between cities in the winter after the sun goes down at 4 so then people can sight see and tour museums during the daylight and when everything is still open. Overall it was the trip of a lifetime. Made new friends and a unforgettable memories. I hope this review helps for those booking in the future :)
