15 of the best things to do in Nepal: experience the Himalaya

From trekking in the Himalayas and exploring historic cities to wildlife safaris and high-adrenaline rafting, kayaking and mountain biking, Nepal offers an incredible range of experiences, activities and adventures.
With so many options, it can be tough to know where to start. Whether you’re a first-timer or a repeat visitor, there’s always more to see – here’s our guide to some of the best things to do in Nepal.
Trek through the Himalayas
Nepal is synonymous with trekking : trips are easy and inexpensive to organize and there is a mind-boggling range of trails, from easy self-guided day hikes to epic multi-week expeditions. They provide both dramatic Himalayan scenery – Nepal boasts eight of the 10 tallest mountains on Earth – and a fascinating insight into the diverse cultures of the highlands.
The most popular treks are the Annapurna Sanctuary, Everest Base Camp , and Langtang Valley routes, but there are lots of other less-well-trodden options, too.
Sample Newari cuisine in Kathmandu
As befits one of Asia’s leading backpacker hubs, the Nepali capital, Kathmandu , has an impressive variety of street food vendors, cafes, bakeries, restaurants, bars, and pubs serving food from across the globe, as well as local standards such as daal bhaat tarkari (dal, rice, and vegetable curry) and momos (steamed or fried dumplings).
But don’t leave without trying the traditional Newari cuisine of the Kathmandu Valley . Although most Nepalis are vegetarian, meat – including buffalo, goat, and wild boar – features strongly in many Newari dishes. Try choila (spicy grilled buffalo strips) and baji (beaten rice, with a similar texture to rolled oats).
Admire the Janaki Mandir
The Terai city of Janakpur – a major pilgrimage destination thanks to its association with Hindu epic the Ramayama – is home to one of the most eye-catching temples in Nepal. Built in the baroque Mughal style and boasting a wealth of domes, turrets and arches, the marble Janaki Mandir is dedicated to the goddess Sita, who is believed to have been found as an infant on the site.
The best time to visit is in the early evening when the temple is illuminated with lights and hymns drift gently through the air.
Spot one-horned rhinos in the Terai
By the early 20th century, the greater one-horned rhino had been hunted to the verge of extinction in the Indian subcontinent, but dedicated conservation efforts have since helped the species to recover.
These majestic creatures can now be spotted in the forests, marshes, and grasslands of Chitwan and Bardia national parks in the Terai – a stretch of lowlands running the length of southern Nepal – alongside tigers, wild elephants, gharial crocodiles, and hundreds of species of birds.
Climb up to Swayambhunath
High on a hilltop in the west of Kathmandu, Swayambhunath is a glorious Buddhist stupa, a dome-shaped monument featuring the painted eyes of the Buddha, topped with a gilded spire and surrounded by a complex of temples, shrines, rest houses, and statuary.
In the morning and evening, devotees climb a long stone stairway to the lofty site to make a kora (ritual circumnavigation) of the huge stupa, which is thought to date back some 2000 years. With commanding views across the city and beyond, it is a wonderful spot to enjoy the sunset.
Go mountain biking
An extensive network of back roads, tracks, and trails – some of which have been used for centuries – allow mountain bikers to reach little-visited parts of Nepal. Although you can strike out independently – rental bikes are widely available in the major tourist centers – many routes are unmapped and best explored on a guided tour, particularly if you’re an inexperienced cyclist.
The two-day Scar Road from Kathmandu, six-day Muktinath to Pokhara , and 12-day Jomsom to Lo Manthang routes are all excellent choices.
Watch the sunrise in Nagarkot, Dhulikhel, or Daman
The Kathmandu Valley’s fringes are dotted with villages and towns whose elevated locations offer sublime views of the Himalayas, particularly at sunrise. They include Nagarkot , Dhulikhel , and Daman, which are all easy to reach from Kathmandu.
Many of their guesthouses and hotels are oriented to allow you to gaze out at the world’s highest mountains from the comfort of your room or balcony, though there are also numerous viewpoints that can be accessed for free or a small fee. To maximise the likelihood of clear, cloud-free skies, visit from October to December or from March to April.
Visit the birthplace of the Buddha
In 563 BCE, Siddhartha Gautama – who later became known as the Buddha – was born in Lumbini in the western Terai. The spot is now marked by the Maya Devi Temple , which is named after his mother and is thought to date back some 2200 years. Alongside Bodhgaya in India, where the Buddha found enlightenment, it is the holiest site in Buddhism.
The Maya Devi Temple is part of a huge complex that includes a range of temples built by Buddhist communities across the globe, including China, Cambodia, and Thailand, as well as gardens, a museum and cultural center, and a gleaming peace pagoda.
Kick back in Bandipur
A picture postcard bazaar town perched on a ridge, Bandipur is the perfect place for a spot of idle relaxation. It is packed with attractive 18th-century townhouses, several of which have been turned into elegant boutique hotels, guesthouses, and homestays.
Although you could head out for a walk, go rock climbing or even visit a nearby silkworm farm, it’s hard to beat simply ordering a coffee and watching the world go by or losing yourself in the superlative Himalayan views.
Go white water rafting
Although most famous as a trekking destination, Nepal also offers world-class white water rafting (and kayaking), with plenty of options for novices and pros alike. For an economical introduction, take a one- or two-day trip along the Trisuli river, which is close to Kathmandu.
Alternatively, test yourself on the more challenging Bhote Kosi, Nepal’s steepest rafting river, which surges down from the Tibetan border, or try a week-long journey through the wilderness on the Sun Kosi or Tamur rivers.
Explore the Kathmandu Valley’s medieval architecture
The historic quarters of Kathmandu and the neighboring cities of Patan (also known as Lalitpur – “City of Beauty”) and Bhaktapur are famous for their evocative medieval architecture. Despite being badly affected by the devastating 2015 earthquake, their Durbar Squares (royal plazas) are still lined with well-preserved or restored palaces, temples, shrines, and pavilions, many of which are open to the public.
They collectively form a Unesco World Heritage Site, alongside several Buddhist and Hindu temples and monuments in the Kathmandu Valley, including Swayambhunath.
Go birdwatching in Koshi Tappu
In the eastern part of the Terai, the Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve is a birdwatching hotspot. At least 527 avian species can be spotted in its wetlands and grasslands, many of which are rare or at risk. They include the swamp francolin, the Bengal florican, and the red-necked falcon.
You may also see some of the last surviving arnas, endangered wild water buffaloes with giant sets of horns.
Paraglide in Pokhara
For adventure sports enthusiasts there are few better places on Earth than the chilled-out lakeside city of Pokhara. Nestled in the shadow of the Annapurna and Manaslu ranges, it offers everything from trekking and rafting to bungee jumping and canyoning.
Pokhara is also an incredible place to go paragliding: after taking off from the nearby peak of Sarangkot and soaring through the azure sky on thermals you’ll be rewarded with mountain views of heart-stopping beauty.
Learn about Tibetan Buddhism in Bodhnath
The Kathmandu Valley village of Bodhnath (also known as Bouda) is home to a thriving community of Tibetan Buddhist exiles. Its focal point is a monumental whitewashed stupa, which was built around 600 CE and draws pilgrims from far and wide. The surrounding streets and plazas are filled with monks and students in maroon robes, strings of colorful prayer flags, and stores selling butter lamps.
Numerous monasteries and institutes in Bodhnath run courses for foreign visitors on Tibetan Buddhist theory, practice and meditation, ranging from introductory seminars to advanced study programs.
Stop off for tea in Ilam
In the far east of Nepal, the lush hills around the pretty mountain village of Ilam produce exceptional tea. They share the same climate and geography – though not the scale or international renown – of nearby Darjeeling, which lies just across the border in India. Visiting the tea gardens, which are hives of activity during the April–November picking season, and sampling a brew is a must.

Experienced guides
From Tim Macartney-Snape, who with Greg Mortimer completed the first Australian summit of Mount Everest, to Bir Singh, one of Nepal's most experienced local guides, our leaders are the key to our success as they strive to make your experience exceptional.
Widest range of adventures
From a trek around the Annapurna Circuit and crossing the high passes of the Everest region to a challenging mountaineering expedition, we offer the widest range of Nepal adventures on the market with a trip to suit every level and interest.
Pioneering the GHT and other world firsts
World Expeditions operated the first commercially guided and fully supported expedition along the entire length of the Nepal section of the Great Himalaya Trail, a representation of exploratory trekking at its finest. Our ability to pioneer this challenging trek underscores our superb logistics and crew in Nepal and embodies the essence of World Expeditions' travel philosophy.
Leaders in responsible travel
Responsible travel is at the heart of every program that we offer in Nepal. World Expeditions is a founding member of the International Porter Protection Group and has pioneered many sustainable tourism initiatives that benefit our staff, the local community and the environment such as our 10 Pieces Litter Collection initiative, our Community Project Travel program and our exclusive eco-campsites in the Everest, Gokyo and Annapurna regions.
Litter collection
The 10 Pieces litter collection initiative, where travellers collect 10 pieces of plastic or paper litter on the trail each day, is offered on all of our Nepal treks. This simple yet effective initative harnesses the collective power of tourists to keep wilderness trails clean and to educate local communities about the negative impact of litter on their environment and tourism economy.
Porter welfare policies
All porters that we employ receive a good working wage that is regulated by the Trekking Agents Association of Nepal and the Labor Union of Nepal, paying as per their guidelines, which are unionized. We are one of the only trekking companies in Nepal to provide porters with three meals a day, prepared by our cooks, as well as lodging or tents, sleeping mats and blankets. Porters receive income protection and life insurance and have access to the same first aid care that travellers receive including emergency helicopter evacuation if required. Porters are provided with a wind and waterproof jacket and over-trousers, woolen socks and gloves, leather or canvas shoes, sunglasses and a warm cap, and carry a maximum of 30kgs.
Eco-campsites
Our series of eco-campsites in the Everest and Annapurna regions contribute to the local economy by providing employment and yearly rent and by bringing trekkers into nearby villages to purchase handicrafts. The campsites minimise our environmental footprint by using yak or cow dung to fuel heaters, kerosene to cook meals and boil water, rainwater tanks, composting and septic toilets and incinerators to burn paper and non-toxic plastic waste.
Private eco-campsites
Comfort and adventure are combined in our private eco-campsites. The campsites are exclusive to World Expeditions, featuring raised beds and high ceiling tents as well as dining and toilet structures. The campsites were designed with the environment in mind, minimising the impact of our presence and providing employment opportunities to local communities.
Wilderness camping
Enjoy fully supported camping in remote locations with our outstanding crew of sherpas, porters and kitchen staff. While the campsite locations have been handpicked for their location, our commitment to responsible travel ensures our footprint is kept to a minimum.
Select locations involve lodges on a twin share basis that provide a comfortable and hygienic environment to relax at the end of the day.
In cities and large towns you will be accommodated in good quality properties that are centrally located, atmospheric and reliable.
Tim Macartney-Snape
Tim is Australia's best known mountaineer and an inspiring leader whose passion is taking small groups into the most isolated and wildest places. He has climbed Everest [twice], Ama Dablam and Gasherbrum 4, among many others. Tim brings different tangents to exploratory treks with his natural history knowledge and true understanding of the Himalayan culture.
Soren Kruse-Ledet
One of our most experienced leaders; Soren has summitted many Himalayan peaks as well as completed a six month traverse of Nepal, and attempted Everest solo. He has also led many climbs and treks in Nepal, Tibet, China and Bhutan including Cho Oyu. Popular, easy-going and professional, Soren can be found leading various adventures for us in Nepal.
Andrew Lock
Andrew is an inspiring and immensely accomplished adventurer, and a wonderful communicator. In October 2009 he conquered Shishapangma, Tibet, becoming the first Australian to climb all 14 of the world's 8000m peaks - a feat only achieved by a select few worldwide. His achievements include multiple ascents of Everest, Lhotse & Manaslu, five Australian first ascents and establishment of many new routes.
Simon Yates
Simon has been at the forefront of mountaineering for almost two decades with first ascents in the Andes, Himalaya and Karakoram. Best known as Joe Simpson's climbing partner [Touching the Void], he has developed a strong reputation as an engaging expedition leader.
Lhakpa Lama
Based at our desk at the Radisson Hotel, Kathmandu, Lhakpa is always on hand to advise you on the best restaurants, local sightseeing opportunities and to assist with questions on forthcoming treks. Lhakpa has been with World Expeditions for over 20 years. His helpful, cheerful and efficient manner ensures the beginning and end of your Nepal adventure will be smooth, letting you focus on enjoying Kathmandu and preparing for your trek.
'Mr Din' has been the driving force behind the operation and management of our Nepal trekking program for the past two decades. His tireless commitment to trip quality and focus on responsible tourism practices has ensured that World Expeditions remains at the forefront of the Himalayan trekking scene.
Mrs Uma has been with us nearly 20 years and is the driving force behind our Kathmandu office. Coordinating the details of school and private groups and managing our community project works, her skills are as diverse as her knowledge of achieving the best services and prices for our travellers. We are privileged to have such an effective administrator and negotiator on the team, not to mention Uma's delightful manner when liaising with travellers.
Jon has been at the cutting edge of world adventure for 33 years. Jon reached the summit of Everest alone and completed first ascents of extreme new routes in the Himalaya. An accomplished polar explorer, Jon was the first Australian to trek to both poles with Eric Philips. The culmination of Jon's dedication to adventure was his unsupported traverse of Australia in 2001, where he completed the first unsupported walk to the geographic centre of Australia.
Bir is one of our most versatile leaders, escorting our trekking groups along challenging sections of the Great Himalaya Trail, our family treks in the Annapurna region, private special interest groups to Everest Base Camp and our Mera and Island Peak Expeditions. He has also been instrumental in the organisation of our community projects at the Sanjiwani Health Clinic which has seen positive change for this important medical facility in the lower Annapurnas. Bir is a very popular guide with all groups he is involved with.
Sorrel Wilby

Dr Ross Anderson
Dr Anderson lives with his wife in a small town near the Lakes District in the north of England. He is a family doctor and spends much of his spare time travelling as an expedition doctor. He has more than 10 years of altitude and travel medicine experience. Our trekking season in Nepal extends from mid-September to May. However within this period there are clear seasons in the weather.
Trekking in Nepal during winter, from December to February, offers cool to mild and clear days with often very cold nights. Occasionally winter storms can bring snow as low as 2500m.
In March the cold, dry winter season begins to give way to warmer, spring conditions. Mornings are usually clear with cloud build-up occasionally bringing afternoon rain.
Late spring conditions, in May, are generally hot at low elevations and as the clouds build up to the next monsoon, which generally begins in June, daily afternoon rainstorms are common. This is a period that generally has clear weather at the higher altitudes and is traditionally a time when mountaineering expeditions commence their ascents.
The monsoon creates a rainy season in Nepal, which lasts from mid-June to mid-September. During this time the Nepal Himalaya is unsuitable for trekking, with the exception of a few remote valleys.
During the monsoon in Nepal it is possible to trek in Tibet, the Indian Himalayan regions of Kulu, Garhwal & Ladakh, Central Asia and Pakistan, places that are at their best during this time.
The post-monsoon period - From early September the monsoon rain starts to decrease. By mid-October through to mid-December the weather is usually stable with mild to warm days, cold nights and clear views. Daytime temperatures can reach 25 - 30 degrees Celsius at lower altitudes and decrease as you gain height. Over 3000 meters the daytime temperatures can vary as much as 10 to 20 degrees Celsius, and may be hotter or colder, depending on whether it is sunny or windy etc. At night at lower altitudes, temperatures do not normally drop much, although as you approach November it does get colder and the days shorter. Up high it can drop sharply at night, from 0 to minus 10 or 15 and more when camped on the ice or snow.
The pre-monsoon period - In March the cold, dry winter season begins to give way to warmer, wetter spring conditions. Mornings are usually clear with cloud build-up bringing occasional afternoon rainstorms. Views of the mountains in the middle of the day and afternoon may often be obscured. Daytime temperatures increase quickly in March with temperatures of up to 30 degrees Celsius and mild nights. At higher altitudes it is similar to the conditions of the post-monsoon period, however there is usually more snow, which has accumulated over the winter period. There are spectacular displays of rhododendrons and wildflowers at this time of year. Late spring conditions ie April and May, are generally hot at low elevations and as the clouds build up to the next monsoon, daily afternoon rainstorms are common.
Time in Nepal
Nepal is +5:45 ahead of UTC/ GMT
Nepal is a country of high linguistic diversity. 123 different primary languages were reported in Nepal’s 2011 national census—including Nepali (official) 44.6%, Maithali 11.7%, Bhojpuri 6%, Tharu 5.8%, Tamang 5.1%, Newar 3.2%, Magar 3%, Bajjika 3%, Urdu 2.6%, Avadhi 1.9%, Limbu 1.3%, Gurung 1.2%, other 10.4%, unspecified 0.2%
Nepali is Nepal’s official language and also its lingua franca, understood by most in Nepal, and spoken by many living in Bhutan, India and further abroad
Newar (aka Nepal Bhasa; not to be confused with Nepali) is the native language of the Newar people and was Nepal’s official administrative language from the 14th to late 18th centuries, but is now considered by UNESCO to be an endangered language.
English is spoken by many in government, business and tourism sectors, and is part of the core curriculum of Nepal’s education system
In Nepali the local currency is the Nepalese Rupee (NPR). The Nepalese Rupee is different to the Indian Rupee, and the Government of Nepal has banned the import, export and use of 500 and 1000 Indian Rupees notes in Nepal.
It is difficult to convert your NPR back to foreign currency, and you will not be able to exchange NPR once back in your own country. There are many money change shops in Thamel and around Kathmandu where you will also be able to change money, however, note that many places will not allow you to change currency back.
There are also ATM’s available for use in Kathmandu and Pokhara.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Nepalese traders do not like TORN notes. Most people will not accept them so ensure you check your notes when exchanging and refuse to accept any torn notes
International Dialing Code
Electricity in Nepal is 230 Volts, at 50 hertz. The most common pin type is C (two round prong).
Electricity is becoming more widely available throughout Nepal though generally speaking the further you venture from the trailhead the less reliable it becomes. More populous areas are serviced by the grid or small scale hydro-electric projects. In more remote areas solar energy is harnessed for electricity production and as such can be unreliable and in short supply.
Many of our camps and eco-lodges provide charging facilities for small electronic devices such as phones, cameras and battery packs. In some cases this is provided free of charge however in most cases there is a fee associated with the use of such amenities. This can range from NPR100 – NPR500 (US$1 - $5) per device charged, depending on how far you are from the power grid.
We recommend you consider purchasing portable power banks or solar chargers for phone charging and at least one spare camera battery.
All nationalities require a visa for Nepal. For nationals of most countries, multiple entry Nepal tourist visas can be obtained on arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport (Kathmandu), however, to speed up arrival processes, it is easier to obtain your visa prior to departure. The details for the various options available to you are outlined below:
Visa issued by a Nepalese Diplomatic Mission prior to your departure from home -
Queues are common during peak tourist arrival times, especially at the visa application counters. In order to skip the bulk of the queues you are able in many cases to apply for your visa at your nearest Nepalese diplomatic mission. The location and contact details of your nearest mission can be found at https://nepalembassy.gov.np. Visa fees are often comparable to that paid on arrival though you will need to consider the courier costs associated in sending your passport to and from the appropriate mission. Please note that THE VISA IS ONLY VALID FOR 6 MONTHS FROM THE DATE OF ISSUE, ie. you must enter and depart Nepal within six months of the date of issue of the visa. There is an online form for completion which is then printed and presented with your passport and payment to the relevant mission for visa issuance. The online form can be sourced at https://nepaliport.immigration.gov.np/onlinevisa-mission/application and there is a handy user manual which can be downloaded from the site to guide you through the process.
Visa Application submitted Pre-arrival, with visa issued on arrival -
There is an official online application portal (https://nepaliport.immigration.gov.np/) that allows you to submit and print your application prior to arrival (note this can only be completed a maximum 15 days prior) which removes the need to carry passport photographs as the electronic versions of your image are supplied as part of the process. Once you’ve applied, the form can be printed for use on arrival and payment made as outlined below.
Visa Application submitted on arrival -
If you opt to obtain your visa on arrival and have not prefilled the online form as noted above, join the queues to a row of computers and fill out the online form. Unfortunately, at time of writing, there are no printers attached to the computers so make sure to take screenshot of your final application, then join the queue to pay for your visa (officials will need to sight the screenshot of your application). You will need to pay the application fee for which cash is recommended and will be issued with a receipt. Classic Nepal Tour
We had a great experience in Nepal! There is so much to see in the country and the tour provided us a combination of both guided visits and times to explore on our own which was really nice. From visiting temples and historic sites, to exploring the forests of Chitwan National Park, to sunrise viewing of the Himalayas, all was amazing. Our guide, Raj, was knowledgeable and kind, very gracious, and shared a great deal of information and knowledge. He moved quickly through areas that he knew but also met the pace we wanted to experience the various facets of Nepal with. All in all, we enjoyed Katmandu, Chitwan, and Pokhara, and would recommend anyone to visit Nepal and enjoy the beauty of the country.

We had a blast on our EBC trek last November 2023. It was an adventure of a lifetime and Alpine Ramble Treks made it more special. Our guide and porters made sure we were taken care of from Day 1 until the end of the journey. Thumbs up to the team.
Tale of Three Cities (Kathmandu & Nagarkot Tour)
Without doubt one of the favourite countries in the world Nepal Upon arrival I was warmly welcomed by Navaraj my name was mentioned on the board and i felt welcomed and with such a friendly atmosphere i had a fantastic start! The guide and tour was extremely good, very flexible (appreciate this!) and for that he deserves a special thanks. I had four great days there, which obviously also added up to the experience. Navaraj is such a warm personality and highly motivated guide (recommendable!). I truly enjoyed walking the tour with him. The scenery was beautiful and it was a relieve to walk in such a quiet and peaceful environment. The nature of the tour was fantastic Kathmandu t I saw a lot of new things in that trip and experienced a lot especially the temples and the view of the Everest and Hamilya mountains The atmosphere is so special that it really felt like home to me i respect Navaraj who does a great job there; a true sample of excellent tour guide! Many thanks again and I recommend this trip to everyone
It was amazing! Everything and I mean everything was easy. From my questions answered in a timely manner with accuracy and knowledge to my reasking because I was unsure or nervous and just needed reassurance of some things. I was never made to feel like my inquiries were invalid. As far as my trek….. I couldn’t be happier how it turned out. My guide, Ganga is simply amazing! He is patient, knowledgeable, respectful, kind and super easy to talk to about anything. His attention to everyone in the group was more than just a job. To him we were his friend, family. Thank you Ganga for taking such good care of me on my DREAM trip. I could not have made it without you and your love of your country, job and your passion for showing the world the beauty that is there. All of my appreciation and gratitude. Katy

Best Classic Nepal Tour (Kathmandu, Chitwan and Pokhara)- 8 days
I had a trip to Nepal with Relax getaways. I booked with them just a couple of days before the departure. They made trip well organized and it was a solo trip. I was accompanied by the guide Pradeep through out the trip. Service was up to the mark but the road conditions of Nepal was terrible due to monsoon. It was very bumpy.???? From my experience it is good to go on trip after monsoon. It is recommended.
Epic scenery, amazing group of people - such a fun dynamic, and everyone was so supportive as the trek got into the higher altitudes. Loved every second.
Everest Base Camp Trek 12 Days
Our experience with Sherpa Expedition exceeded all expectations. The professionalism, expertise, and dedication of our guide made us feel safe and well taken care of throughout the trek. From the breathtaking views to the rich cultural experiences, this journey was truly unforgettable. If you're planning to trek to Everest Base Camp, Sherpa Expedition is the way to go!
An Everest View Trek 9 Days
I can't believe that just a few short days ago I was strolling the streets of Kathmandu after having trekked in the Himalayas. My host Shailesh was very welcoming and attentive. His brother Na Win expertly guided me through the "hills" on the Everest view trail which leads to the Everest base camp. Kumar carried this 65yo couch potato's 8kg pack like it was a feather. He is more used to 130kg! Na Win and Kumar patiently waited as I crawled up the trail from Lukla, through Phakding, Namche Bazar to Tengboche and back. Uphill all the way it seemed! I think Nepal actually means "uphill."
Classic Nepal
Great tour and introduction to Nepal. Tour includes time in the urban jungle in Kathmandu, the resort lake town of Pokhara, a very charming old town in the mountains, and the wildlife refuge in Chitwan. Itinerary was balanced between activities and free time, enough that we never felt rushed or forced. Great accommodations except for one overnight in a guest house at Bhaktapur. Otherwise, perfect trip!
Ghorepani Poon Hill Trekking
My partner and I recently embarked on the Ghorepani Poon Hill trek, a magnificent journey that exceeded our expectations in every way. We were fortunate to have chosen Sherpa Expedition as our trekking company, and with the guidance of our exceptional guide, Pasang Sherpa, and the assistance of our helpful porter, our experience was made even more memorable and enjoyable. From the very beginning, Sherpa Expedition's manager, Ram Barakoti, demonstrated his expertise and dedication to providing a top-notch trekking experience. He took the time to provide us with detailed information about the trek, ensuring that we were well-prepared and informed about the challenges and highlights that awaited us. Ram's professionalism and attention to detail instilled confidence in us, and we knew we were in good hands. Upon our arrival in Nepal, we were warmly greeted by Pasang Sherpa, our experienced guide for the Ghorepani Poon Hill trek. Pasang's friendly and approachable nature immediately made us feel comfortable and excited for the adventure ahead. Throughout the trek, Pasang's extensive knowledge of the region, its culture, and its natural beauty shone through. He shared captivating stories and insights about the places we visited, enriching our trekking experience and deepening our appreciation for the surroundings. Pasang's expertise in trekking and his understanding of the challenges that come with high-altitude hiking were invaluable. He ensured that we maintained a steady pace and followed a well-planned itinerary that allowed for proper acclimatization. Pasang's constant support and encouragement motivated us to push our limits and made the trek both enjoyable and rewarding. His attentiveness to our well-being, including checking our oxygen levels and providing guidance on altitude sickness prevention, was truly commendable. Alongside Pasang, our porter played a vital role in enhancing our trekking experience. He tirelessly carried our belongings, allowing us to fully immerse ourselves in the stunning landscapes and focus on the journey itself. His assistance and friendly demeanor were greatly appreciated, and we are grateful for his hard work and dedication. The Ghorepani Poon Hill trek itself was a mesmerizing adventure. The trail took us through lush forests, charming villages, and terraced fields, offering a diverse and captivating landscape at every turn. The highlight of the trek was undoubtedly the sunrise view from Poon Hill, where we were treated to an awe-inspiring panorama of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges. The breathtaking beauty of the Himalayas, painted in hues of gold and pink, left us speechless and filled our hearts with gratitude. The accommodations and meals provided by Sherpa Expedition were exceptional. The tea houses we stayed in were comfortable and cozy, providing a welcoming respite after a day of trekking. The meals served were delicious and nourishing, offering a taste of local cuisine as well as familiar international dishes. We were impressed by the effort made to cater to our dietary preferences and ensure that we had a satisfying dining experience throughout the trek. Overall, our experience with Sherpa Expedition on the Ghorepani Poon Hill trek was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment we contacted them to the moment we bid farewell to our guide and porter, we felt supported, cared for, and inspired by the beauty of the Himalayas. We highly recommend Sherpa Expedition, Pasang Sherpa, and their team to anyone seeking a professional, knowledgeable, and unforgettable trekking experience in Nepal.
Annapurna Sanctuary
Nice hotel in Kathmandu, hiking was great. A ton of additional expenses, tipping drivers and porters and every meal was out of pocket. The cities were dirty, roads were a mess, stray dogs everywhere, electricity minimal. A great experience but be prepared for some discomfort. Scenery in the mountains were breathtaking.
Explore Nepal Tour 11 Days (Hill Stations Beach Jungle Safari and Sunrise view Tour)
Our recent trip to Nepal was an amazing experience . It truly was a trip of a lifetime! Upon arrival we were warmly welcomed by Shailesh Pokharel, the local travel advisor and this was a fantastic start! Despite the constant rainy weather everything went as planned. The trip, overall, was a huge success. Even in difficult, due to the rain situations, our guide, Valmiki Rijal, Sujan, as we used to call him, offered alternative solutions that help us to enjoy every moment of our trip. On the way to every location, he provided interesting and fascinating facts about the history and geography of the places and regions. He is very knowledgeable about Nepal in general, he is nice and engaging and made sure to give us an amazing experience. Sujan was very patient with us and did his best to accommodate our needs and interests. Sujan is a great guide, a true sample of excellent tour guide! After spending 7 days with him, I don’t hesitate to say that we got an exceptional friend in Nepal. Apart of the rainy weather, the other problem we faced was the bad condition of the 2 hotels we stayed in, but again everybody did their best to facilitate our stay. Both Shailesh Pokharel and Valmiki Rijal, (Sujan) and all the people met in Nepal were so friendly that make us felt like home. During our stay in Nepal, we always felt like we were among friends. We really loved meeting Sujan’s family and enjoying the dinner, Shailesh’s wife offered to us at their home. Shailesh and Sujan you have did a great job. Thank you! We highly recommend Nepal Trekking Routes!

Nepal Tours
Valley deep, mountain high, welcome always
Northern India's kinder, gentler cousin, Nepal is a true Himalayan kingdom. Sharing Everest, the Earth's highest mountain, on its northern border, and with seven more 8,000m (26,246 ft) peaks sprinkled around the country, Nepal has the best trekking in the world. Sitting in a bowl of Himalayan mountain peaks, the capital Kathmandu is surely one of the world's most fascinating cities. For decades it has served as a hub for a multicoloured mix of travellers, trekkers, and hippies from around the world, and in its famous Durbar Square, every day a theatre of Hindu and Buddhist traditions plays out. The warm Nepali people themselves are a study in Buddhism: often very poor, yet sure to beat you to a smile.

Top 10 Adventure Activities in Nepal
By Jennifer Dombrowski
Nepal is a country of natural beauty and cultural heritage. While summiting Everest is what typically pops up in people’s minds when you hear about Nepal, you don’t have to be a die-hard mountain climber to enjoy a trip to Nepal. It’s a country that offers so much more beyond climbing Everest.
Nepal is rich in terms of the adventure activities it offers. Not surprisingly with everything from trekking Nepal’s massive peaks to wildlife viewing safaris, Nepal is definitely a destination that attracts adventure enthusiasts. But do you know all the adventure activities you can do in Nepal? Far more than just these, here are the top 10 adventure activities in Nepal.
1. Trekking in Nepal
Trekking is by far the most popular adventure activity in Nepal and the main reason many people visit Nepal. And while Nepal is known as being home to the tallest mountain on earth, summiting Everest is only one of hundreds of possible trekking routes available.
Nepal has such a diverse landscape that there is really hiking opportunities for any level of trekker. The thrill that trekking in Nepal provides is just a small part of it. Hiking in Nepal is also about exploring the flora and fauna of remote Nepal, along with sparse but culturally rich human settlements.
There are actually so many Nepal treks that it can be a bit overwhelming to know which is the right trek for you and when the best time to go is. A few recommendations to get started for planning a trekking trip to Nepal are:
Everest Base Camp Trek
The route for the Everst Base Camp trek is Lukla-Everest Base Camp-Lukla. This trek takes 14 days to complete and from March to May and from October to November are the best times to visit Nepal for this trek.
Annapurna Circuit Trek
The route for the Annapurna Circuit trek can vary depending on where you start and end your trek, with the total length of trail being anywhere between 160–230 kilometers. Thorong La Pass, Muktinath Temple and Kali Gandaki Gorge are some major attractions along the trek. A shorter version can be completed in around 15 days, while completing the entire route takes around 21 days. From March to May and from October to November are the best times to visit Nepal for trekking the Annapurna Circuit.
Chisapani-Nagarkot Trek
The Chisapani-Nagarkot trek is perfect for anyone wanting to combine a short trek in Nepal with visiting other cultural sights and adventure activities. The trek starts from Sundarijal and takes you through Chisapani to Nagarkot. It takes 3 days to complete, but can also be completed in just 2 days. The other great thing about the Chisapani-Nagarkot trek is that this trek can be done year round.
Ghandruk Trek
The Ghandrik trek takes you around Ghandruk village, which is the gateway to Everest Base Camp. With the trek taking just 5 days to complete, this is another good trekking option for a shorter visit to Nepal. This trek is also suitable for any time of the year.
Dhampus Village Trek
The Dhampus Villae trek takes you around the village by the same name and provides unique views of the Pokhara valley, Fewa Lake and Annapurna Massif. Another trekking option perfect for visitors with a shorter amount of time to visit Nepal, it takes 5 days to complete. This trek can be done year round.
Ghorepani Trek
The Ghorepani trek , or Poon Hill trek as it is also called, is a loop that offers varying views of Nepalese mountain villages and the Annapurna Range. It typically takes 5 days to complete and is about 60 kilometers in length. You can do this trek year round, though the best months for it are really from October to November.
2. Helicopter Tour of Mount Everest
Climbing Everest is a feat that very few people dare to undertake since it takes months of rigorous training to prepare for, weeks of acclimatization once in Nepal and a significant amount of money. While Everest’s busy peak has made the news in recent years for the traffic jams at the summit, only around 5000 people have actually summited the massive mountain since its trekking history began in 1953.
Climbing Everest definitely isn’t for the faint of heart and it’s not an adventure for everyone. But thanks to the ever-advancing adventure tourism in Nepal, anyone can take a thrilling flight to reach Everest Base Camp and stand on the world’s tallest mountain.
An Everest Helicopter Tour can be taken from Kathmandu or Lukla, or really just about any other place in Nepal if you so desire. It’s an early morning adventure with helicopters usually taking off at 6am when the weather is best. If you’re starting the adventure from Kathmandu, you make a quick refueling stop at Lukla before heading toward Kala Pathar at 5545 meters where Everest Base Camp is located.
You spend about 10-15 minutes at Everest Base Camp where you can take in the view of Everest, as well as some other mountains such as Lhotse, Nuptse, Island Peak and Ama Dablam. You also get a chance to see the Khumbu Glacier, which is the highest-altitude glacier in the world, and the Gokyo Lakes.
After the Everest Base Camp visit, you fly to Hotel Everest View. The hotel is famous for being the highest-altitude hotel in the world, and it’s a spectacular place to enjoy breakfast before returning back to Kathmandu (or your pick-up spot).
3. White Water Rafting
Nepal isn’t just about it’s mind-blowingly tall mountains. This is a country with fast flowing rivers, making Nepal one of the premier white water rafting destinations in the world.
Rivers originating from the Himalayas flow turbulently through the narrow spaces between the green hills to reach the plains of Terai. Due to the flow of water from the high altitude of the Himalayas to the plains, Nepal’s rivers provide ideal conditions for white river rafting.
Popular white water rafting destinations in Nepal include the Trishuli River, Seti River, Bhotekoshi River, Kali Gandaki River, Marsyangdi River, Sunkoshi River, Arun River, Tamor River and Karnali River. All of these rivers have their origins in the Himalayas and offer white river rafting adventures of various classes of rapids. The ups and downs in the direction of the flow of these rivers are extreme, providing thrill seekers with a heart pumping river adventure.
The difficulty level of rafting varies among these rivers. Karnali River is considered to be the most difficult one, whereas Tamor, Sunkoshi and Bhotekoshi are considered to be less difficult. Trishuli and Seti are considered to be the easiest rivers and perfect for first-time river rafters. Camping along the river banks of these rivers is also an option for a multi-day river adventure.
September to November and May to June are considered best periods for rafting. That’s because the water levels are moderate during these times of year.
4. Paragliding over Nepal
The closest a human can get to truly feeling like a bird in the sky is paragliding. There’s no aircraft, no noise and nothing around you. It’s just you (and your trained guide) in a harness and the incredible 360-degree views.
Paragliding can be done in both Pokhara and the Kathmandu Valley. In Pokhara, the take-off takes place from the hill of Sarangkot at 1592 meters. In just a 20-minute jeep ride from Pokhara, you can be paragliding over Pokhara with incredible views of Fewa Lake, Mount Annapurna, Mount Dhaulagiri, Mount Machhapuchhre and Mount Manaslu.
Another spot for paragliding is Chapakharka in the Kathmandu Valley. Located just 13 kilometers from Tribhuvan International Airport in the surrounding green hills, the fresh air along with wind inflation make this an ideal place for paragliding.
Kot Danda, which is 12 kilometers from Tribhuvan International Airport, is another place for paragliding in Kathmandu. This place is popular for thermal navigation. The green vegetation and high flying birds also make it a beloved spot for paragliders.
The Godavari, which is located 10 kilometers from Kathmandu, is also known for paragliding. Lush green vegetation and pollution-free air are the characteristic features that make it a popular paragliding spot.
5. Jungle Safari
Mention “safari” and most people immediately think of Africa with its savannas and the Big Five. You might not know that Nepal is also home to a diverse amount of flora and fauna. Exciting jungle safaris to spot Nepal’s tigers, elephants and rhinos are definitely a bucket list adventure.
Chitwan National Park, Bardia National Park and Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve are all ideal places for jungle safaris. Travel by jeep with a guide within these protected areas for the optimal wildlife viewing adventure.
Chitwan National Park is known for its protection of the Bengal tiger, one-horned rhinoceros, wild Asian elephant and Ghariyal. Bardia National Park is popular for being home to the Bengal tiger. Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve has a wetland ecosystem that is home to wild buffalo and numerous rare species of birds.
6. Nepal Climbing Expeditions
With eight of the world’s 14 mountains that are higher than 8000 meters located in Nepal, the country attracts mountaineers more than any other country in the world. While Nepal is undoubtedly the place for expeditions on the world’s biggest mountains, there’s actually a range of options for mountain enthusiasts from the tallest to smaller but still impressive peaks.
Nepal opened the door to climbers in 1949. Ever since, mountains of all sizes and difficulty levels have been climbed in Nepal. The list of mountains most popular for climbing expeditions in Nepal is not short. Every year climbers make expeditions on Cho-oyu, Shishapangma, Makalu, Kanchenjunga, Manaslu, Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, Mount Lhotse, Putha Hiunchuli, Baruntse, Pumori, Tilicho Peak, Churen, Mount Ratna Chuli, Himlung, Ama Dablam, Api Himal, Kumbhakarna, and above all, Everest.
But it’s not only climbing expeditions on Nepal’s snow-covered mountains that are available. Rock climbing is also a popular adventure activity in Nepal and can be done in both Shivapuri-Nagarjun National Park and Nagarkot, which are very near to Kathmandu.
7. Bungee Jumping over the Bhotekoshi River
Jumping off a bridge or other launch pad with an elastic cord tied around your legs might sound absolutely insane to some. Others say there’s simply no adrenaline rush like it. If you’re brave enough to trust an elastic cord and launch yourself off of something like a tower or bridge, there’s a few places you can give bungee jumping a go in Nepal.
The Last Resort at the Bhotekoshi River offers jumping off a 160-meter high suspension bridge that spans the Bhotekoshi River. The river is known to be among the most wild and flowing rivers in Nepal. Not for the faint of heart, bungee jumping there leaves you dangling over the steepest rive in Nepal.
8. Ultralight Flight over Pokhara
Imagine soaring with the eagles. As one of the purest ways to experience flying, aviation enthusiasts love flying ultalights. Essentially a powered parachute, ultalights are some of the most fun adventures you can have in the air.
Pokhara is the only place in Nepal where you can experience ultralight flight. You can book various flights, and the duration determines what you can see in the vicinity of Pokhara.
A 15-minute tour flies over the city of Pokhara, Sarangkot and Fewa Lake, and also provides a panoramic view of the Annapurna Range and Dhaulagiri peak. A 30-minute tour takes you as far as Lamachaur in the northern part of the Pokhara Valley, and also provides a view of Sarangkot and Naudanda Hill. A 60-minute flight provides a panoramic view of the Annapurna mountain range, Mount Machhapuchhre and Mount Dhaulagiri. A 90-minute flight is the most adventurous since you fly inside the Annapurna circle, and gets very close to Mount Manasalu and Mount Dhaulagiri.
9. Hot Air Ballooning over Nepal
Clearly we love taking to the air! As one of the newest adventure activities offered in Nepal and things to do in Pokhara, can you imagine gently drifting with mountains still towering above and the lush Nepal landscape below?
The balloon flight provides a breathtaking view of mountains such as Annapurna, Machhapuchhre and Dhaulagiri. You also see a birds-eye view of the lakes such as Fewa, Rupa and Begnas. Of course, you can also spot the beautiful city of Pokhara.
Hot air ballooning is currently only offered in one place in Nepal: Pokhara, Nepal’s adventure capital. There are two locations in Pokhara to start your balloon journey: Dhampus village and Landruk. The balloon lands at Mardi Khola and Hemja after either a 30 or 60 minute flight, depending on which ballooning tour you choose.
10. Skydiving in Nepal
Jumping out of an airplane to spend several minutes rushing back toward earth, before finally pulling open your shoot to slowly glide back toward the ground is not something everyone dares to do. While you can give skydiving a go in many other countries around the world, doing it in Nepal provides the unique experience of a spectacular view of the Himalayas. It’s definitely one of the more unique things to do in Nepal. CNN even thinks so, calling Everest Skydive one of the 50 most thrilling, daring things you can do on vacation .
Everest Skydive allows adventurers to jump out of an airplane at a height of 29,500 feet. That’s jumping from a height higher than Everest itself. Skydiving right in front of Mount Everest provides you with a spectacular view of Everest, other high mountains along with Khumbu Glacier and the Gokyo lakes. You land at either Gorak Shep of Kala Pathar (Everest Base Camp), Syangboche airport or Ama Dablam Base Camp.
You can also opt for Pokhara Skydive if you want a more mild skydiving adventure. You jump from as high as 12,000 feet with mesmerizing views of Mount Annapurna, Mount Machhapuchhre, Mount Dhaulagiri and the lakes of Pokhara such as Few and Begnas.

Annapurna Circuit Trek
Why trek Annapurna Circuit trek with Nepal Eco Adventure? Well if you’re puzzled by the question or having trouble deciding whether to visit the destination or not then let me put it straight. Annapurna Circuit trek is a complete package of adventure, fun, and challenges. It’s unlike any trekking spot in the world, incredibly stunning and packed with a surreal view of Mt. Annapurnas.
Nepal’s trekking trails are worldwide acclaimed for their spectacular views, dramatic landscapes, and wilderness. Their peaceful setting with unique geological wonders, high-mountain meadows, and glacially carved valleys pull the trekkers from across the world.
Annapurna Circuit trek hosts visitors from all around the world. In fact, it’s one of the few trekking destinations in Nepal, where there’s an overflow of hikers throughout the year. Visitors seem to be flattered walking the demanding trails of the circuit as it provides them an unforgettable experience.
Annapurna Circuit trek is sheer beauty with a pristine trail that offers a minute scene of snow-capped mountains, sweeping hills, and a steep-sided valley. It gives every better reason possible for trekkers to hike the classic trail that heads all the way up to Thorong La Pass.
The trek provides a fascinating insight into the local customs and traditions of different ethnic groups living in the region. But, most importantly, it exposes the visitors to the unique culture, heritage, and lifestyle of the Gurung community.
Visitors will be able to witness the great influence of the people in the region, especially with their villages, historical and religious sites. Other ethnic groups whose spiritual and cultural impacts are equally noticed in the local community are Thakali, Tamang, Magar, and Brahmin.
Annapurna Circuit Trek lies in central Nepal and has a trek length of 100-145 miles. It begins with a half-day drive to Besisahar and a short walk off the mountainside to Bulbule. The trek continues with an uphill walk on the next day and has us crossing several bridges to arrive at Chamje.
We’ll walk past many villages in the following days, including Chame, Pisang, and Manang. Since the trek above Manang is more difficult with low atmospheric pressure, we’ll stop at the village to give the body a whole rest. From Manang, we head to Yak Kharka, which has only a few settlements.
You can see a lot of yaks grazing here, though. From here, we take the most strenuous walk to Thorong Phedi via Thorong La Pass. From the cliff, we’ll get a fantastic view of Annapurna massif and Dhaulagiri. After crossing the pass, we’ll descend the trail to Muktinath and visit the religious shrine here. From there, we navigate the path to Jomsom that is rugged and looks more like a desert.
After arriving at the lovely village of Kagbeni, we'll take a short break for breakfast and then immediately rush to the trail. The journey to Jomsom continues with a gentle walk on the trail that overlooks the beautiful Kali Gandaki River before taking a rocky uphill climb.
Walking past the terrace farm and through the brink of the deep valley, we’ll reach the village. The next day, we’ll take a picturesque drive to Tatopani, where you can also enjoy a hot spring bath and then finally return to the valley.
In between the trip, we’ll also take a short uphill walk to Ghorepani, which is one of the trekkers’ favorite spots to stop by and watch the beautiful view of Machhapure and Gangapurna.
A lot of trekkers who’re pushed for time and cannot make it to the circuit trek Ghorepani to catch a beautiful sight of Annapurna. We’ll also be walking the steep trail of Poon Hill to see the beautiful sunrise view. In this way, with Nepal Eco Adventure, you’ll get an amazing experience of trekking the Annapurna Circuit.

Although Annapurna Circuit Trek is considered moderate and doesn’t have a technical climb, trekkers will still face some difficulties. They’ll have to work their way through the steep hills and walk over rugged terrains with sharp rocks and boulders. Walking Thorong La Pass is one of the greatest challenges for hikers of the Annapurna Circuit due to low barometric pressure.
Annapurna Circuit Trek is a safe trek. But, get to know about the weather, avoid walking in the dark and stay on the main track. Don’t leave your guide and companions behind. Also, walk slowly and be aware of the symptoms of altitude sickness. If altitude sickness becomes intense, then do not force yourself and get ready to return.
The cost of 18 days Annapurna Circuit Trek largely depends on the length of stay and available services. It also varies based on whether you’re doing a solo trek or with the agency. If done with the travel company, the cost can range between US$1,200 to US$2,000, subject to the itinerary. We have a package of $1250 . The amount covers the cost of a trekking permit, accommodation, food, porters, and guides. The trek, however, can cost low or high depending on various factors. The number of trekkers, porters, trek routes, trek season, accommodating hotels, and the number of trekking days are some major factors that determine the cost of the trek.
Usually, you walk for about 5-7 hours per day. But some days, you will walk less or more than that.
You spend so many days far from conveniences. Having a guide helps you smoothen your trek. You don’t have to worry about accommodation and meals. We help you pre-plan your entire trip and probably, you will not experience any trouble.
Hiring a porter at Annapurna Circuit lifts off the pressure from the trekker. It allows them to walk the trail more comfortably without losing much energy. Likewise, carrying a load on your back for 5-7 hours a day is quite difficult. Porters here are strong and walk at a higher pace than trekkers. So, having a porter/porters helps you enjoy the trip freely. Trekkers who can navigate the trail carrying their backpacks don't need to hire a porter. Individual trekkers who have never traveled to mountainous regions should consider hiring a porter as they reduce the weight from your shoulder and make the trip relaxing just at the cost of US$25 to US$30.
Yes, you can bring extra luggage on the trek unless you’re willing to carry it yourself or hire more than one porter. It’s because a porter can only help with the 15-20 kgs load of an individual hiker. For the excess weight, trekkers will have to pay an additional amount.
Travel insurance is recommended for tourists to cover their medical and helicopter rescue helicopter expenses. Sometimes travelers may get sick and have to be evacuated by helicopter to the nearest hospital. Travel Insurance is usually recommended for the all trekkers for worse case scenario. Since all our trekkers will be traveling the region on a local bus, they won’t need to buy one of these. Their backpack and equipment are safely transported to starting point of the trek so there's no risk of theft and stealing. Travel insurance gives you extra layer of security if things goes wrong.
Yes, you need two different permits. TIMS card and Annapurna Conservation Area Entry Permit( ANCAP). As there will be various checkpoints, make sure you grab them in Kathmandu and keep them with you. Although trekking permits are required for access to Annapurna Circuit, the permit fee is already included in the trekking package and there’s no extra amount charged for the entry to the conservation area.
Passing Thorong La Pass is a tough part of the trek. You begin ascending to Thorong La Pass early in the dark morning. The total walk of the day exceeds 8 hours. However, the trail on the pass is well-marked and there will be lots of trekkers during high seasons. But, be aware of the weather condition before you ascend to Thorong La Pass.
A porter usually carry 20-25 kg of weight between two trekkers. As porters carry your load, you can carry a small backpack with daily essentials.
Annapurna Circuit Trek poses a lesser risk of altitude sickness since there’s a continuous elevation gain and loss. Apart from that, trekkers will have to acclimate before going high so they’re able to adapt to the weather and temperature. Exposure to high altitudes has a mild impact on trekkers. Beginners with no previous experience of trekking may show some light symptoms like headache and dizziness. But, after getting some rest, they’ll be fine to walk the trail. Hikers will have to be a bit careful while climbing Thorong La Pass at 5416m meters. as the trails are steep here. They may feel an elevation gain at this height but if they take preventive measures, trekkers of Annapurna Circuit can easily cope up with the low atmospheric pressure.
Anyone who has not lived at high altitudes can suffer from Altitude Motion Sickness. You have to be extra careful to prevent altitude sickness. Hydrate your body, take a slow and steady walk and take rest at times. If you find any symptom of altitude sickness, be careful to not take it to another level.
There are small medicals in larger villages of the circuit. Also, there are hospitals in Manang and Jomsom. During the peak season, some temporary clinics at high-altitudes provide medical services. If you feel sick or injured during the trek, your guide will work out and find the best option.
Annapurna Circuit Trek is a popular classic trek. So, the villages throughout Annapurna Circuit route have teahouses to accommodate trekkers. Teahouses in most villages of the trek are basic ones with basic food and accommodation facilities. Rooms have a bed, blanket, and some other essentials. Bathrooms usually are fine but not to optimal quality. The meals are usually Dal Bhat with vegetable curry. Although many tea houses offer western foods as well, nothing beats heavy meals of Dal Bhat.
The travel package cost of the Annapurna Circuit trek is US$1,250 per person. It includes the cost of local transportation, food, accommodation, guide, and porter. We suggest all our hikers carry extra spending money between US$15-US$25 or equivalent amount of local currency to cover snacks, hot shower(only above Manag, cost around $5), electricity, internet, charging camera batteries, bar bills phones, It’s better to buy these things at the shops in town since the price gets higher with the increase in altitude. If you want to splash out an extra amount on the snacks and bars or western dishes, expect the cost to rise up to US$50 per day. Trekkers will be responsible for any private cost apart from the ones mentioned in the package.
Autumn (Late-September to November) and Spring (Mid-March and Early-May) offer the best weather for Annapurna Circuit trekkers. They provide a warm and humid climate with a little bit of moisture in the lower region. The skies are clearer than any other time in these seasons so you’ll have a higher chance to spot the magnificent view of Dhaulagiri and Annapurna. The greeneries, fall foliage, and blooming flowers make the surroundings even more delightful and amazing for the hikers.
The entire trek length of the Annapurna Circuit relies on where the hikers start their trek from; and where they wrap it up so it can range anywhere from 160-230 km. You can do the circuit Trek in as little as 12 to 18 days, but if you want to do a full tour, it can take about a month.
Annapurna Circuit trek is a tea house trek as it can be found even at a higher altitude with a few settlements. They are more convenient and affordable with all the basic facilities available. The service quality may vary between tea houses, but one thing is sure that all of them have a single bed and shared bathrooms. Pillow, blanket, and bedsheet are provided to the guest, but the use of solar heating and hot water will be charged separately.
Many guesthouses offer wi-fi service to hikers for a small charge. It may work fine at lower hills, but in the mountains, the connection might not be stable; therefore, trekkers may not be able to use the wifi whenever required.
Do you provide trekking gear Despite the fact that trekking gears are a personal expense, we do provide our clients the needed equipment. To make their trip safe and amazing, we provide all the essentials including a duffel bag, hiking poles, and sleeping bag. Since the weather is chilly in high altitudes with low temperatures, we make the down jacket available to the trekkers. It will help them withstand the cold climate at Annapurna Circuit and even Thamserku. Upon returning back to Kathmandu, they’ll have to return the gears back to Nepal Eco Adventure. Apart from these items, if there’s any other apparatus that trekkers find missing from the list then they will have to bring it along with them from the native country or buy it. There are plenty of shops in Thamel which help trekkers find the needed equipment. It can be on the budget or high standard which is a bit pricey but the qualities are unmatched. and equipment?
Don’t fear running out of money on the Annapurna Circuit Trek as there are a few ATMs and money exchange services at Chame, Jomsom, and Tatopani. But, keep in mind that the service is not available at higher altitudes. Therefore, if you have to exchange the currency, do it right at Chame, Tatopani or Jomsom.
Yes, you can hike the Annapurna Circuit alone, but we highly recommend you to hire a professional trek guide who can navigate you the way. It will make the journey easier for you and also help you get the trek done faster.

Annapurna Circuit Trek is one of the most visited trek destinations in Nepal. Thanks to its spectacular scenery, good services, and reasonable price. Its unique geographical features and diverse landscapes put an excellent display for the hikers. It also delights them with the lovely view of rolling hills, green fields, and roaring white rivers.
Annapurna Circuit is one of the few hiking trails that’s always ready to accompany the visitors and treat them to the most incredible scenery. As a great host, it provides them with the best of the best panoramic vista that looks even more gorgeous in Spring and Fall.
That’s not all; even the locals here are amiable and never upset to accommodate the visitors. And this is only to mention some of them. There are several reasons why Annapurna Circuit is so popular among hikers. A few of them are as follows.
1. Scenic View
With breathtaking sights all year round, Annapurna Circuit Trek is every photographer’s dream. It’s the trekkers’ ultimate destination to escape the city hassle and soak in the natural beauty of the Himalayas.
It doesn’t matter which year they visit Annapurna Circuit; hikers will always find something interesting to watch. Right from the start of the expedition, they’ll be pleased by the lovely view of sweeping hills, clifftops, and beautiful Nepali villages.
Annapurna never fails to offer the most astounding scenery in the world to its guests. Almost anywhere on the trail, they’ll end up gazing at the lofty snow peaks including the famous Annapurna massif.
Trekkers are also likely to view diverse landscapes, steep-sided valleys, cascading waterfalls, and streams. Along the path, they will witness sweeping hills and meadows filled with grazing yaks.
Visitors will even get to explore old Tibetan monasteries, mani walls, and prayer flags that recollect the primordial times during stops at numerous villages. The unique landforms of Annapurna Circuit also have many stunning and hidden places to scout.
3. Great Facilities
When seeking a perfect trek destination in Nepal, lodging is what comes first in the mind of trekkers. That’s perhaps because many remote places in Nepal don’t have human settlements and are difficult to reach.
But, thankfully trekkers of Annapurna Circuit don’t have to fear it as they will mind plenty of lodging from on the budget to a high standard. They have a wide range of accommodation options to choose from depending on the price.
Keep in mind that the options get limited with the increase in altitude. Usually, it’s the tea houses and trekking lodges that trekkers count on most for the accommodation service on Annapurna Circuit Trek. They have basic facilities and come at a reasonable price that you can’t complain about a lot.
4. Diverse Culture
Although spread in a small geographical area with a few settlements, Annapurna Circuit Trek has great diversity and inclusion. Trekkers can find people of varied cultures and religions living cordially during their visit here.
They’ll also get to take a look inside the rich traditions and customs practiced by different ethnic groups and castes while stopping by the village. Its rich history, imposing cultural heritage, beautiful pilgrimage, and monasteries that carry historical value also awe travelers.
5: Beautiful sunrise view
Annapurna Circuit Trek comes with a short morning walk to Poonhill, from where the trekkers can enjoy a lovely sunrise view. The sight of vivid valleys and colorful towns is a bonus to visitors for making it all the way up. They can also see the magnificent view of Annapurna massif, Dhampus, and Gangapurna at the backdrop.
Trek to Poonhill is mostly uphill, which causes hikers to get tired sooner, so we start the expedition at dawn. But, once they reach the hilltop, all their fatigue will be gone, especially when they sneak a look at the magical views of glittering snow-capped mountains. Trekkers who visit Poon Hill in Spring will also get the sight of lush green hills, terrace farms, and blooming rhododendron flowers.
6. Visit Muktinath Temple
Another major reason to trek Annapurna Circuit is a visit to Muktinath Temple, a sacred Hindu temple. It carries a religious significance and is the abode of Lord Vishnu. Trekkers will get to explore this sacred Hindu Temple on their trip. They can even participate in the rituals and offer prayers to the deities. Visitors are also allowed to take a tour of the pilgrimage and shower under the 108 holy taps.
Sitting at the foot of Thorong La Pass, Muktinath Temple also offers a surreal view of Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, and surrounding snow peaks. Those who want to explore the Muktinath Valley and make a visit to the villages can walk a few more miles.
Difficulties of Annapurna Circuit Trek
Although it’s considered a moderate hiking route, Annapurna Circuit Trek isn’t as easy as it seems. Its trails have many ups and downs, with gushing streams to cross over. The alpine meadows are easy to traverse, but the steep hills and rough terrains are demanding and strenuous.
Its long-drawn trails leave many trekkers with back pain, weariness, and cramps. The constantly changing weather doesn’t ease the hiker either and might create trouble. Other difficulties that the Annapurna Circuit trek might toss at them are as follows.
1. Altitude Sickness
But, it’s occasional for hikers of Annapurna Circuit to suffer from acute mountain sickness as they start the trek from low altitude. And by the time they arrive at Manang, the trekkers will have already acclimated themselves by spending enough time to reach the town.
It means that the visitors are able to withstand the environment and weather until they arrive at the highest altitude. It also helps minimize the risks to trekkers climbing Thorong La Pass and above stops and don’t bear the sickness.
Acclimatization is a must during Annapurna Circuit trek as it helps cope with the changing atmosphere. The hiker must give their body enough time to adjust to the climatic condition and weather to not suffer from altitude sickness.
2. Weather and Temperature
Unpredictable weather and temperature are just one of the many challenges trekkers have to endure during the Annapurna Circuit trek. They have to brave the cold in winter while navigating muddy and wet trails during the monsoon.
Tropical storms, low humidity, and blizzards make the hiking difficult and sometimes even leave them stranded on the trail. During winter, heavy snowfall blocks the path to Annapurna Circuit and makes it hard for trekkers to walk.
Not just that, looming fog and mist impacts the visibility and reduces the speed of the trekkers. Monsoon rain makes the trek equally difficult for hikers, especially beginners who’ve never walked mountainous terrain.
It makes the trails wet and slippery, so it’s impossible for trekkers to navigate the path without taking a tumble. Continuous rainfall is likely to trigger floods and landslides on the way to Annapurna Circuit. Therefore, trekkers will have to be sharp and wary while walking the trail in those areas.
The perk of trekking Annapurna Circuit in Monsoon is the incredibly clean and crystal-clear view. After the rain washes all the dirt in the air, trekkers will get to snap at the plain sight of shimmering snow-capped mountains, lush green hills, and terrains. Monsoon also brings the much-needed moisture and makes the climb less difficult.
Fatigue results from physical exertion and overtiredness. Walking a long distance with a heavy backpack, little water, and insufficient rest often causes tiredness. Unfortunately, trekkers of Annapurna Circuit have to deal with it, at most of the days of their trip, which often leads to exhaustion.
Due to steep trails and several hours of walking each day, they often lack the energy to traverse the path. Trekkers are often seen being drowsy due to overwhelming long walks and having trouble concentrating.
Hence, every traveler hiking Annapurna Circuit will have to take excellent care of their health and get enough rest. They’ll have to eat a balanced diet, get regular exercise, and drink more water to avoid dehydration.
4. Long and difficult trails
Annapurna Circuit trek has a hard and challenging trekking route that can’t be done without proper preparation. Like many other treks in the Himalayas, it too can intimidate hikers and make them anxious right from the start. The long winding paths of the Annapurna Circuit can be extremely strenuous and tiring.
However, if carefully planned, hikers will find the trails much easier to traverse. In fact, those who have continuously worked on their physical exercise will find the trails a breeze, especially when it’s so easily accessible.
Beginners will have to invest a little more time in the training, or else they won’t beat the trail. Trekkers must be more vigilant when walking steep inclines with narrow lanes as it causes distress and altitude sickness.
When is the best time for Annapurna Circuit Trek?
The best time for an Annapurna Circuit Trek visit depends entirely on what the travelers expect to form the trip. While its trail can be walked any time of the year, the ideal time to visit is Autumn when the weather is mild and pleasant.
Annapurna Circuit Trek in Autumn Season
Autumn embarks the trekking season in Nepal with a calm and serene atmosphere. It has crowds flocking all over the places in the Himalayas, making the most of low temperature and magnificent vista.
They start to swarm the trail from mid-September and continue to occupy it till late November. Temperature is blazing hot early in the season, with some places even receiving a little rainfall.
But, as time goes by, the weather starts to cool off. Even the temperature tips from 15 to 7 degrees Celsius, making it easy for hikers to navigate the trail. In Autumn, forests and valleys burst out with colorful tree leaves and the chirping of birds.
With the crystal-clear snaps of lofty mountains and beautiful waterfalls gushing down the cliff, trekkers will enjoy walking the path. The continuous flow of religious festivals and events will keep them busy and entertained.
Annapurna Circuit Trek in Spring Season
Spring is clearly another best time for Annapurna Circuit Trek as it offers warm and lovely weather with scenic views. It brings everything in alive after the frigid and snowy winter. The flowers start to bloom again while the animals come off from their shelter, putting on a fantastic display.
However, with the winter still roving around the circuit, the climate is cold and wet at the beginning of the season. As time passes, the temperature gets balmy and warm with radiant sunshine all day long. Visitors will have a great time navigating the path to the circuit, which unfolds magnificent scenery.
Due to the clear blue sky and clean air, trekkers can spot the Annapurna massif and its sweeping landscapes from far away. They’ll also have a great time walking along the path due to the lovely surroundings with varied flora and fauna. The weather is comfortably cool in Spring, so traversing the track won’t be much disturbing.
Walking the old smooth trail that goes into the forest will seem like a regular walk in nature. But, the ascent to the steep hills will be exhausting for trekkers, so they better relax and take slow steps instead of rushing. In this way, they will be able to avoid common problems that occur during trekking.
Annapurna Circuit Trek in Winter
Since the Annapurna Circuit trek has a convenient trek route, travelers will visit it even during winter and monsoon. But, it doesn’t mean they will get delightful weather like the previous seasons. Visitors in winter may encounter various challenges such as harsh climate, snow hazards, reduced visibility, and hypothermia.
Walking the snow-covered trail might cause them blisters while the steep mountain ridge steals the traction. Therefore, hikers have to be rigorous while walking the tracks as it can cause them severe injuries. They’ll have to take preventive measures before trekking the circuit in winter.
It includes staying up-to-date about the weather forecast and planning the trip accordingly. Travelers must carry warm clothes with high insulated jackets, gloves, and trekking poles. Using a sturdy boot with crampons while traveling the course can be of great help.
If done so, the trekkers will be able to enjoy the fantastic scenery that the season has to offer during the trip. They get to watch the snow-blanketed meadows, frozen lakes, and glaciers from the lap of Annapurna Circuit. Nights in winter may be chiller here, but the days are refreshingly warm and clear, making it easy to glance at the snow peaks.
Annapurna Circuit Trek in Monsoon
Monsoon isn’t a great time either for a trek to Annapurna Circuit due to the flash flooding rains, severe thunderstorms, and low precipitation. Strong winds and relentless rainfall keep affecting the region and make it impossible to walk the trail.
It can even put ice on the travel and ruin the whole schedule. Heavy rain can cause landslides and even block sidewalks. Therefore, trekkers will have to be extremely careful while hiking the routes in the mountains.
Post-rainfall, Monsoon brings a little joy to the visitors and provides stunning views. The waters wash away all the specks of dirt in the air, offering clear pictures of the glacial valleys, towering hills, and beautiful villages. Continuous rain feeds the surrounding rivers and waterfalls to the absolute limit that it looks pretty impressive.
Trekkers can feel the summer heat in the daytime, but nights are slightly cold, with the temperature falling up to -3 Degree Celsius. The rainy season lasts from June to August, so those planning to travel the region will have to prepare for the trek.
Preparation for Annapurna Circuit Trek
Annapurna Circuit Trek may be easy compared to other Himalayan camping treks, but there are still many challenges that have to be overcome to reach the viewpoint. Trekkers have to come prepared before starting the hike. They must be physically fit and mentally strong to withstand the 40 miles long trail of Annapurna Circuit.
Physical Preparation
If going to trek Annapurna Circuit, trekkers have to be in good physical condition. They must be strong enough to beat the meandering trail that runs peaks and valleys. Trekkers of Annapurna Circuit have to spend adequate time on physical training and exercise to increase their core strength and develop endurance.
They should focus on cardio exercises like jogging, cycling, running, and squat jumps to strengthen joint muscles. Aerobic exercise can also be added to the fitness regimen for improving balance and have a more solid base to walk the uneven terrain.
Apart from physical fitness, trekkers must also take a walk over different terrains so that they can easily tackle the course of Annapurna Circuit. They can start with the short day trip and, after getting comfortable, move onto long hikes.
Mental Preparation
Trekking Annapurna Circuit with or without a guide is always intimidating. Its long trails with several ups and downs can quickly get in the nerves of hikers and even compel them to give up. The changing weather, endless paths, and rising altitude can be the source of mental stress and anxiety for hikers.
The long-distance walk often gets daunting due to the lack of the right equipment and gear. Therefore, they have to be well-prepared and extremely cautious of what they pick before trekking Annapurna Circuit.
Trekkers have to ensure that they have all the needed essentials to make the trip as comfortable and plain sailing as possible. Lack of confidence can often cause disquiet and panic among trekkers, so trekkers must be emotionally charged.
They have to put enough research on the itinerary and the weather on the Annapurna Circuit. It will give you an idea of what to expect from the trek and how to combat it. Taking a few tips from your tour guide will also help plan the trip and keep your mental strength high.
Essential Equipment
The right equipment at the right place and at the right time can make the journey bliss while its absence can cause havoc. Therefore, trekkers have to make an accurate assessment while choosing the items for the trek. Anyone visiting the circuit must know what gear and equipment are appropriate for the favored season.
This will ease their time on the trail and make it easy to reach the circuit. Simultaneously, they’ll also have to ensure not to carry any extra apparatus that won’t be used even once. This unwanted clothing and equipment will occupy more space in the backpack and make it difficult to walk the trail.
Trekkers in winter will need warm and high insulated clothes, including windproof jackets, gaiters, and mufflers, while those visiting the circuit in Autumn can relax. Since the weather is bright and sunny in Spring and Autumn, travelers can carry light and comfortable clothes. For option, they can carry anyone pair of warm outfits.
Many local stores and clothing shops in Thamel are willing to help the trekkers with trekking gear and equipment, from decent purchase to branded. Buyers can also lease the trekking gear at these convenient stores and return it without damage after trekking.

Travel with accessible adventure in the himalayas.
Namaste! The team from Accessible Adventure welcomes you to an unforgettable adventure in the Himalayas.
As the great thinker, St. Augustine says, “The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only one page”. While travel was largely tedious and extremely difficult in his time, it is much easier now and parts of the world considered once inaccessible are now made accessible. Under the solemn protection of the great Himalayan massifs, lies Nepal which has barely opened its borders for travel for a hundred years. In these hundred years, the culture and beauty of the Himalayan region have become legendary, making Nepal one of the most popular destinations for tours, trekking, and peak climbing.
Established in 2012 Accessible Adventures has more than ten successful years of planning and executing tours trekking, and peak climbing activities in the Himalayan region. Established with the aim to make travel smooth and accessible to everyone, including those with special circumstances, we aim to provide the best travel information and guidance to make your trip the best it can be. We are experts in peak climbing tours and trekking in Nepal. We are aware that each traveler has their own reason for coming to travel Nepal. Whether it be to explore the cultural side of Nepal or the unique natural beauty or a mixture of both with anything else added, we are ready to customize each trip to suit your expectations and requirements for your tours, travel, and peak climbing adventures in Nepal.
We also know that travel is limited by many external factors, time and budget being the two main ones, and thus will work with you to find a travel plan that works best for whatever constraints you have! Our experienced team of agents, drivers, and travel and trekking guides will be there to guide you through each step in your travel. And did we mention we operate in Tibet and Bhutan as well?
So what are you waiting for? Reach us through any of our contact portals and we’ll help you experience the best holiday of your life.

Great Trip, Excellent People
“ We arranged a 6 day customized Kathmandu-based cultural tour of Nepal in September 2019 with a day hike at Nagarkot in the middle to break things up. The company was easy to deal with and made great arrangements. Our guide, Ramesh, was well informed, personable and attentive. Our driver, Rose Linda, accomplished the impossible by getting us around Kathmandu smoothly and pleasantly. Highly recommend using this service.”

It was an amazing adventure, Everest Base Camp trek and return on Helicopter with Boundless adventure. We were a group of 10 people and Damber helped us in every step of the journey. He has a professional team of ground staff. Every staff was great all the time. We were playing cards often.
We trekked all the way to Everest Base camp which was an amazing journey through the rural landscape. The return journey on the chopper was simply enthralling.
The view you get to behold upon taking off from Gorakshep. It was out of the world. I recommend Boundless Adventures and his team for all he provides in Nepal.
It gives me immense pleasure to share this review with the world about Boundless Adventure. As its name suggests, the company impressed my family members and me. Mr. Dambar helped us. When we went to Nepal.
During our Kathmandu, Pokhara, and Everest helicopter tours , the team of Mr. Khadka took great care. They kept us in the best hotel and provided a humorous guide, Mr. Kumud. I want to mention the best helicopter tour experiences around Everest.
The highlight was the breakfast at Everest View. It was so memorable. My son and I will be doing Manaslu Trekking with Boundless Adventure next time. I highly recommend this company for your holiday in Nepal. Thank you. Mark, UK

The Everest Base Camp Trek is one of the most important trekking beats in the world, attracting gambol and nature lovers from all sides of the world. It takes everyone on a natural scamper as it provides a breathtaking sight of lush flora and fauna and snow-capped mountains. Climbing Mount Everest Base Camp is a step in the right in climbing.
The trek as a general rule starts and ends in Lukla, a town in the Khumbu region of Nepal. The trek, as a rule, starts and ends in Lukla, a percent in the Khumbu in the ballpark of Nepal. You can reach Lukla by a short flight from Kathmandu. This section, situated at 8,016 meters (26,289 feet) between Lhotse and Everest, is notorious for its treacherous weather conditions.
The trek makes one way through various. On some of the world’s giant and most well-liked mountains on the Everest Base Camp trek, trekkers also see snow slides, greenwood, lakes, the inland sea, and wild animals.
The standard time for the Everest Base Camp trek is 12 to 14 days.
Wisely pack:
Pack lightweight but vitally important articles for the trek. Some vital items include a good pair of trekking boots, well-furnished clothing in layers, a warm sleeping bag, a down jacket, a waterproof jacket, gloves, a water bottle, and basic toiletries.
Major currencies AUD, EUR, GBP, and USD are used to gain a visa. There are ATMs in Kathmandu and Pokhara, and credit cards are taken in bounded shops and many restaurants in Kathmandu and Pokhara. Outside the cities, credit and debit cards are unplayable to use to pay for the deficiency of card-reading machines. It is looking with favor on changing currency to Nepali rupees (Rs.) in Kathmandu or before, as it is accepted everywhere in Nepal.
Highlights:
From Everest base camp, we were given a bounty of spectacular views of Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, and Pumori, as well as the imposing Khumbu glacier and icefalls and snow slipping beyond our eyes. It is the major highlight of the Everest Base Camp Trek.
The lofty point you’ll stretch out is Kala Patthar, at a step up of 5545m or 18,192 f. Familiarization days are set up in the daybook to help adventurers adjust to the high elevation and lessen the possibility of altitude ailment.
The government of Nepal has made it essential for all adventurers to come with the essential entry grant, comprehend the Sagarmatha National Park permit and TIMS (Trekkers’ Information Management System) card. These grants are of the whopping great importance to ensure the safety and safeguarding of adventure, as well as to take awareness of the habitat and cultural heritage of the region.
Best time to visit:
The best time to visit Everest Base Camp is either side of the late May to mid-Sep monsoon season. Late September–November and February–May are the most important trekking months, with well-constructed conditions, good clarity, and temperatures at Base Camp rising to about -6°C.
These seasons don’t have the jumbo snow dung heap of winter, nor do they have the monsoonal rains of summer.
Physical Fitness:
While the trek doesn’t pertain to technical climbing or being pro-level athlete-shaped
A good level of physical fitness and staying power is necessary due to the stand against the countryside and altitude. Step by step, increase the duration and degree of your journey on foot to build your staying power over time.
Consider taking on a guide and/or stretcher bearer for support and to enhance the overall experience. Many guided treks provide support, local expertise, and assistance with direction.
It is important to gain guided treks because Nepal’s government has implemented new regulations that require all trekkers to take on a licensed guide and porter for their journey. This change aims to increase the safety of adventure and ensure responsible tourism, as the guides are trained to pick up unforeseen circumstances and are well-versed in the local terrain and culture.
Conclusion:
The sight from Everest Base Camp Trek is not only a get-together for the eyes; it’s an encouragement for the soul. Yes, it is one of the many reasons to go on a trek to Everest Base Camp. You’re standing in a frame of mind that very few have the benefit of experiencing.
For some, a base camp is a form of underworld, a temporary port where one must spend four or five weeks giving and taking for the chance to climb Everest . For others, it’s the concluding summer camp, a place and community far apart from any other on Earth. Either way, for those who want to move up to the highest point on the planet, these are the two starting points.

Religious Tour in Nepal is a country where a variety of ethnic groups have their own spiritual belief. The country is home to a different culture, language, customs, and religious beliefs. The majority of the people living here follow Hinduism and Buddhism. However, other religions like Christianity, Islam, Jainism, and Shamanism also have a significant number of followers as well.
As such, Nepal is an exemplary nation where people from all different religions live together with great harmony and cooperation. Hence, the Pilgrimage tour in Nepal is a base for all religious devotees around the world. So, if you are excited about exploring pilgrimage destinations with religious ideas, or even adventurous purposes you are warmly welcome to Nepal.
Starting from the capital- Kathmandu, you can find a remarkable coming together of Hinduism and Buddhism. The valley is home to seven UNESCO world heritage sites; all of which display a certain degree of religious influence. Pashupatinath is the sacred Hindu temple of Lord Shiva and is located at the bank of the Bagmati River.
The nearby Guheshwori Temple and Sleshmantak forest are also of significant religious importance. Likewise, Swayambhunath and Boudhanath are Buddhist shrines equally revered by Hindus as well. The durbar squares in Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, and Patan are also famed for housing ancient courtyards and temples.
Heading away from the capital, Lumbini- the birthplace of Lord Buddha is another must-visit religious site in Nepal. As such, Lumbini boasts of famous monuments like the Mayadevi Temple, Ashoka Pillar, the Eternal Flame, the Bodhi Tree, and numerous monasteries.

Travel always brings exciting memories, helps to discover new things, and meet new people. Everest Base Camp Trek has been one of the greatest letting you explore the scenic, adventure and cultural side of Nepal. ‘How to prepare for Everest Base Camp Trek?’ is a question we hear too often. If you are having a thought of enduring this journey, this How to Prepare for Everest Base Camp Trek blog will help you know more about how and what to plan for the trek.
- Try to make your backpack as small as possible
You should not pack too many clothes. Bring only the essential ones which you will need. The trek is going to be tough if you have a chunk of clothes in your backpack. A few pairs of t-shirts, shorts, socks (woollen), and gloves are enough for the trek. If you have a big backpack, you can leave some of your stuff in the hotel in Kathmandu and collect it after returning. If you need other items, take a porter with you to carry your backpack. Doing this ensures you are in good shape throughout the trek.
Don’t think of it as a vacation where you would bring a suitcase with you. It might feel too cold so, bringing down jackets is a good idea. It’s better to pack clothes you would need only for a day. The up-and-down trails will comparatively feel a lot easier if you are carrying a lightweight backpack. Our blog Everest Base Camp Packing List will help you with how and what to pack for the trek.
- Bring lightweight footwear
Footwear is crucial for trekking. Bringing lightweight hiking shoes or boots is definitely going to help you a lot. The terrains are tough to walk on, so it’s necessary that you have a comfortable pair of shoes with a good grip. Most people wear hiking boots for trekking, but whatever gives you comfort and has a good grip should do okay. The lightweights are going to bring you many benefits, first, your feet won’t get tired, and second, you will be able to cover much more distance without much energy wasted. Wearing tight and uncomfortable shoes will only add problems during your Everest trek, so make sure to grab some nice shoes.
- Don’t bring too many snacks
Snacks are of course necessary for your trek. Bringing some energy bars, and chocolates, but too much is not good. You will find many teahouses along the way, which means you won’t be needing to eat too many snacks. These teahouses have proper meals and food so reducing some grams weight from your backpack would be good. A few packets of nuts and 5/6 energy bars are enough for the trek.
- Choose an experienced and licensed guide
If you are booking through a trek operator, then you won’t have any hassle of finding a professional guide. The agency will assign you the best guide they have for the trek. If you are travelling without an agency, you can hire a guide through the agency. The guide is important if you have never been to the Everest Region before. The mountain journey is moderately difficult. However, there will definitely be unexpected scenarios which the guide will be able to handle.
Altitude sickness can happen to anyone, even if one has a perfectly healthy body. The guide will mentor you throughout the journey and also crack a few jokes to keep your spirits going. Nepali guides are humble, friendly, and honest. They will be providing you with an amazing company.
Ensure your trekking agency has pre-booked your stays
If you wish to travel during the peak seasons i.e. the Spring and Autumn, you definitely should ask your agency to make every arrangement of hotels for the stay. Though there is enough number of proper hotels in every town and village sometimes you might just get unlucky. So, booking beforehand is always a wise decision.
Dingboche, Khumjung, Lobuche, Lukla, and Namche Bazaar all have proper and well-managed tea houses with facilities to some extent. However, you should not expect top-class services and should compromise a little.
- Keep yourself updated on the weather
The weather in the mountains is unimaginable. You will find yourself in a situation where the weather changes every minute. If you have a guide with you then, he will surely be well informed and had information about Everest Base Camp Trek weather. You and your guide should keep an eye on the day’s weather forecast and make rational decisions.
The decrease in temperature can sometimes go below -20 degrees. You will need to prepare yourself for tricky Everest Base Camp Trek Weather. Getting some good quality down jackets will do for withstanding the cold weather. And also keep some extra fresh woollen socks in your backpack.
Cardio and Physical Training before the trek
You might have already booked for the Everest Base Camp Trek and waiting for the actual day when you actually step foot on the terrains. However, you should definitely prepare yourself both mentally and physically. If you are an experienced hiker, it will be easier for you. If you are not experienced, you can try a few short hikes before you trek to EBC.
Watch the vlogs, and read articles and reviews of people who have already been to Everest. Knowing your Everest Base Camp Trek itinerary, route and options will certainly help you to plan better. And yes Cardio training definitely helps in making your body prepare for the trek. Stamina and endurance improvement exercises, aerobics, etc can be done on Everest on a scheduled basis as preparation for your trek. Exercises should be followed by a properly balanced diet. It’s all about the nutrition needed for your body. Do not overdo it in the name of the exercise, you can spend 5 or more hours a week into the training time before the journey.
- Plan for a few extra days.
If you are looking to trek in a country like Nepal with unpredictable weather at times, you should include a few extra days in your plan. There are chances of flight delays/cancellations and roadblocks too. Planning for an extra few days is a wise idea. You will be on the safe side if the trek gets cancelled or is extended for a day or two due to some unavoidable circumstances.
- Be clear on what services are included or excluded from your package.
While you are planning and booking your trekking package in Nepal, ensure that you are clear about what services you are going to get. Most operators will provide you with the list of what is included and excluded on the trek and even if they don’t, ask for it. This will help you to get things sorted.
- Carry your necessities.
Do not expect to get a whole lot of things in Nepal. You may have to bring some of the things from your country. It is good to prepare early. If your needs are unique, it’ll be better if you bring those stuff to your country.
- Have proper immunization for the trek
It’s better to get immunized against malaria and/or some other diseases with proper doctor consultation. A physical test is also recommended before heading on to the trek. It is better to be cautious about any health hazards one may face during the trekking journey. Immunization against Tetanus, Hepatitis, Malaria, Typhoid, Rabies, etc, is recommended before you head on to the journey.
We are no physical consultants. Please consult a licensed medical person if you need to.

Everest Base Camp Packing List

Have trouble finding the list of essentials for the Everest Base Camp Trek ? Don’t worry, you’ve come to the right place. In this blog, we will discuss and list the complete Everest base camp packing list based on feedback and the personal experiences of 100+ trekkers. Let’s begin right away!
“What to pack for Everest Base Camp Trek? ” can be really confusing if you are not an experienced trekker. The general rule is to pack only the essentials and try to make the backpack as small as it can be. Even if you have brought a lot of stuff from back home, you can leave them in your hotel in Kathmandu and receive them after the trek. Below we discuss a list of things you will need for the trek.
Backpack: A 60-litre comfortable backpack is recommended for the EBC trek. Check the backpack, read reviews and make sure it is comfortable to carry while trekking before buying a backpack. A Duffel bag is also one of the options.
Footwear and socks: Footwear is one of the things you can’t afford to choose wrong while trekking. Make sure footwear is comfortable and does not cause sore feet. To ensure comfort and grip, hiking shoes are highly recommended (especially for those with high ankles). Lightweight, waterproof and fitting hiking boots are perfect for the EBC trek. Also, for your stay in a hotel, you may want flip-flops or other light footwear.
You can also buy spikes for hiking boots that will provide extra grip on slippery surfaces. Gaiters are also good if you are planning to trek during the monsoon.
We recommend you buy comfortable and warm but not too thick socks. 5-6 pairs for the trek is a good idea as you won’t be able to wash them while on the trek. Socks can be easily bought in Thamel.
Clothing: You are going to feel hot as well as cold during your trek. It is a good idea to wear layered clothing while trekking to places like EBC. Most experienced trekkers wear and recommend wearing 2-3 layers of clothes while trekking to Everest base camp. The 3 layers are: the base layer for ticking away moisture and sweat, the middle layer to keep you warm and the outer layer is the shell which is usually windproof or waterproof. The base layer should not absorb wetness so it should be of synthetic material and not cotton. So, what clothes can be used as these layers?
Base : Breathable sports underwear, dry-fit t-shirts, hiking shirts, light thermals and socks.
Middle : Fleece jackets and sweaters.
Outer : Raincoats, Rainproof Jackets/Trousers, Windproof Jackets/Trousers, Gloves.
Jackets: Down jackets will ensure you are warm and safe in the extreme cold weather on the trek. These jackets are known to keep you warm even at -10 or -20 degrees celsius. It is recommended that you buy them in your country as buying down jackets (original) in Kathmandu can be costlier. Down jackets are available for rent in Thamel at a cheap price.
Rainproof and windproof jackets are also necessary to tackle uncertain weather conditions in the mountains. They can be easily bought in Thamel for around $40 or more. You can also carry a rainproof cover for your stuff.
Trousers: You will need 2-3 pairs of trousers for your trek. One hiking trouser (windproof/waterproof) to wear during the trek, one normal for your stay in hotels and one extra in case of emergencies. Sometimes during hot days, half pants will also work. The trousers are also available to buy in Thamel.
Thermals: The higher altitude areas are particularly cold and for that, you will need 1-2 pairs of inner thermals. Light thermals are better than thick or woollen ones as you can be sweaty during the trek.
T-shirts: Full-sleeve, light and dry-fit T-shirts will be perfect for the EBC trek. You may need 4-5 t-shirts (both half and full sleeve) for the trek.
Sunglasses, gloves and hats Polarized sunglasses will protect your eyes from dust and UV rays. Beware of the fake ones if you are planning to buy them in Kathmandu. Normal waterproof and windproof gloves are good for the EBC trek. A hat is a good idea but not a compulsion.
Water Bottle and Purifier: Carrying a water bottle is a must. It will help you reduce costs as 1 litre of water may cost around $3 on the EBC trek route. Also, carry a water purifier as the water available on the trek route may not always be safe to drink. Water purifiers are usually drops or tablets. It is better to buy a water bottle suitable for both cold and hot water.
Walking stick: Walking sticks can help you a lot especially if you are a beginner. The stick is also known as the Trekking Pole will help to support your knees during the trek. This can be bought in Thamel for around $10.
EBC Trek Map: Maps will be of great use for planning as well as trekking to those who are trekking without agency. The maps of Everest Base Camp Trek can be bought in Kathmandu or Lukla or Namche Bazaar.
Medical Kit: It is best to carry a medical kit with some basic medicine and health care items. Your medical kit should basically include these items: paracetamol, painkillers, digestive tablets, bandages, hand plants, antiseptic, Diamox, diarrhoea tablets, rehydration powder and lip balm.
If you have any prescription medicines, do not forget to pack them too.
Hand Sanitizer and Toiletries: Hand sanitiser is another must-have and it comes in handy every now and then. Toiletries are better bought in your countries as your options may be limited in Nepal.
Sleeping bag: Sleeping bags are found in teahouses and are also available for hire in Kathmandu. However, carrying one during peak seasons is always a good idea. Sometimes, the blankets may not be enough for you and in this case, a sleeping bag definitely helps.
Trek Sleeping Bag: The Complete Everest Base Camp Packing List In case you don’t miss anything else, here’s the full list:

Everest Base Camp Trek Clothes To Pack For The Trek, if you are willing to trek the Mount Everest base camp, then you must have questions about clothes. People misunderstand that it is usually too cold in the Everest Region, but that’s not totally true. The average temperature throughout the year is between 11 degrees and -8 degrees. But the changes in temperature are dramatic on days and nights. The other thing that may be bothering me is the strong wind. Undoubtedly, there are things you should consider packing for Everest Base Camp Trek.
The best time to trek is in the spring and autumn seasons. But, packing matters as much as seasons and you should be careful about Everest Base Camp Packing List. This blog is a guide for Everest Base Camp Trek Clothes or What clothes to pack for the EBC Trek?
When packing clothes for the Everest Base Camp Trek consider these along with the weather. Rain and snow are common if you are planning to trek to EBC in summer and winter.
Layering is basically a key thing when it comes to clothing for the trek. Trekking involves lots of sweating so the layering should be in such a way that it lets the moisture pass through the layers and not trap it in. You should wear something that keeps you dry and also make you feel comfortable walking strenuous paths. The clothes should be arranged in three layerings (base layer, middle, and outer layer).
The base layer is in direct contact with your skin, so the layer must be of a material that doesn’t absorb the wetness. Below are the base layers you need to pack.
Hiking Shirt
The t-shirt should not be of cotton, as cotton tends to absorb sweat a lot. The material should have wicking which will let the moisture away from the cloth. Consider packing 4 or 5 of these breathable t-shirts.
The leggings should lose fit and be comfortable for you. Merino wool is highly recommended and favoured by most trekkers. Bringing 2 or 3 may be enough for the trek.
Trekking can last 4 or 7 hours a day. And sweating is common for the trek so, packing good quality breathable underwear is necessary. Taking 2 or 3 of these is recommended for the EBC trek.
Woollen socks
Happy feet are necessary for the trek. So, to properly care for your feet, good pairs of socks are necessary. The socks that dry quickly, are comfortable to wear and protect your feet from blisters.
Middle layer
Also called the insulating layer, the layer keeps your body heat from retaining.
Fleece clothes for the torso and legs
For the middle layer, fleece or middle fleece clothes are the best. They are lightweight and comfortable to wear. It also provides some warmth and is breathable. A good brand named The North Face is loved by most trekkers.
Outer Layer
The outer layer cloth must be wind and waterproof as the weather is unpredictable in the Everest Region.
Rain Jackets
Wind and waterproof jackets are a must for the trek. The layer is needed when you reach higher altitudes where the weather changes time and again. To beat the cold and the wind, you need to have good quality jackets. You should not compromise the quality in terms of price and get good ones.
Waterproof trekking pants
Fast-drying hiking pants can be beneficial for the trek. The warmer pants are also available if you trek on the offseason. But one thing is comfort, so you should wisely select the pants for the trek.
Protecting your head and keeping it warm is also necessary. For the headwear the following things are necessary.
Sun can be harsh during trekking, so for minimum exposure to the sun, bring in a hat or two. You should bring a nice comfortable and lightweight trekking hat.
Beanie is for the cold nights, as it will easily cover up your ears and head, and you will have an easy time against the wind and the cold.
Neck Gaiter or Scarfs
It is an easy piece of clothing, which can be used for covering up your neck, mouth, and also nose. It will help you against the freezing wind which is a hurdle while trekking.
It is one of the most important things for making Everest Base Camp Trek easier and more enjoyable. Having a good pair of footwear makes walks less strenuous and more enjoyable.
Hiking Boots
Your shoes define you. Getting a nice comfortable fit boot is a must-have for trekking. A good quality boot that fits you is a wise choice. As for the snowy paths, getting waterproof ones will help you keep your socks dry which is an important factor.
At night, you might want some slippers for yourself in the teahouses. So, do bring a pair of slippers for the trek.
Gaiters are for the legs. It is a waterproof material cloth that will help prevent water, rocks, and mud from getting into your boots. Consider the season before packing and preparing for Everest Base Camp Trek. You might want to pack more clothes in winter than you would in spring. If you have any questions about the EBC trek, then do leave a message down below. We’d be more than happy to help you know more about the trek.

Regarded as the third highest mountain in the world, Kanchenjunga is a synonym for danger because of its path to reach its top. No one has ever been able to climb this incredible yet dangerous mountain to date. The beauty of Kanchenjunga is no less than a fairy tale, and that may be the reason it attracts trekkers to its difficult trails. The trek is one of the best treks in Nepal among the less ventured areas.
It is a 25-day long trek and requires KCA and RAP permits with other restricted permits. Thus, the Kanchenjunga Trekking Package cost is slightly high compared to other trekking in Nepal.
The Kanchenjunga trek is fairly difficult and is not for people with low levels of physical fitness. The trek takes you through difficult trails and is also remote.
- For people with an extreme level of fitness
- The trek is not recommended without a guide.

Another long and venturesome trek in Nepal is at the secluded northern part of the Mustang. The isolated yet captivating barren land of Upper Mustang can be explored with Upper Mustang Trek. The trek takes you to an elevation of 3,800m and with most of its remote trails, is considered an off-beaten trek.
The exceptional geography of Upper Mustang is dry and deserted yet surrounded by majestic mountains giving a spectacular view to cherish. The temples, monasteries, Tibetan prayer flags, tea houses, and huge stones with bizarre structures add glamour to the beauty of this Upper Mustang Trek. With not much human population, Tibetan culture has been preserved for centuries in the Upper Mustang areas.
A 15-day long trip to the Upper Mustang Trek from Heaven Nepal Adventure starts from Pokhara or Kagbeni and it requires special permits too. The trek is accessible during winter but the trek is really harsh so you must be physically and mentally prepared.

- From March to May, September to November
- To proceed with two or more trekkers along with a professional guide
- For people with an average level of fitness.
- For people with Asthma problems.
Geographically rich Upper Dolpo is an isolated trekking destination due to its remoteness and challenging trekking trails. The upper Dolpo trekking trail stretches to the apex of Magdalena Pass, Shey La Pass, and Jeng La Pass.
This elongated 25 days of trekking is challenging yet the view of Kanjirowa Mountain and the mesmerizing Phoksundo Lake captivates the trekkers which makes them forget the struggle and tiredness.
Upper Dolpo Trek is a great way to explore the typical Tibetan culture and monasteries. The beauty of Dolpo was manifested in the 1999 Academy Award-winning movie Himalaya and it has helped this remote Upper Dolpo Trekking attract some trekkers. The trekkers should acquire some special permits. If you are looking for less ventured trekking areas, this is one of the best treks in Nepal for you.
