Introducing The New Safari Chronometer 42mm Watches From Ralph Lauren

Ralph Lauren probably isn’t the first name you’d think of when it comes to luxury watches. Indeed, although they are renowned for their other luxury goods, those goods usually complement a luxury watch from a more established watch brand. However, these days, we see more and more luxury fashion brands having a go at the luxury watch sector, names like Gucci, Louis Vuitton and Chanel to name a few. Ralph Lauren has been making more luxurious watches in recent times, too, such as a collection of engraved watches , a minute repeater and a twin-register chronograph . Recently, Ralph Lauren has expanded its range of watches again to include three new watches, let’s take a look.

The three new watches all fly under the Safari Chronometer range which already has some 39mm pieces and a 45mm model. The new watches fit snugly in that size range and all seem to be sufficiently rugged for an extended stay in the safari. Each watch has an “aged” stainless steel 42.6mm case which has been shot-blasted for a more unique look. The case’s water resistance of 100m also indicates some real world usability, too, even if there isn’t typically an abundance of water in the safari.

Of the three models available, the main difference in each model can be found on the dial where you get a choice of black, camouflage pattern and khaki. Of these, I think black is the one to go for; it’s sleek and classic, but if you did go with the watch with the camouflage pattern dial, I’d totally understand! All three models have Arabic numerals painted on with SuperLumiNova and the orange seconds hand stands out above the dial in a good way.

Inside all of these watches is the RL300-1 calibre, this is a Ralph Lauren branded version of the Sellita SW300-1a calibre, which can be found in a variety of models from TAG Heuer, Bell & Ross, Sinn and more. As it’s based on a robust and accessible movement, the RL300-1 should be serviceable for a long time without any real issues. It comes with a 50-hour power reserve and has a 4Hz beat rate.

Finally, once you’ve chosen which dial colour you want your new Ralph Lauren timepiece on, you need to choose which of the three interchangeable straps you’d like. The olive green canvas strap would be a classic choice and the “aged” stainless steel bracelet might give some more practicality, especially in the summer. However, my choice would be the wildcard, the Bund strap, which is also on offer. I think that completes the rough chic look these watches appear to be going for.

All of this can be yours for as little as $3500 , which is the starting price, certain dial colours and strap options will make one of these. bit pricier. Most of what you’re paying, I think, is to have something totally left-field in the world of horology. This will be much more of a conversation piece than some of the other watches with the same movement in them.

Ralph Lauren Introduces a New 42mm Case Size into its Rugged Safari Collection

American designer Ralph Lauren has forged an emporium on his vision of laid-back sophistication carefully choreographed in settings designed to evoke a certain lifestyle. Ralph Lauren’s preppie collegiate apparel incarnated by the Polo shirt of 1971, for instance, was equated with the game of polo, and his Safari apparel collection of 1984 harnessed the designer’s vision of the “ romance of safari… an adventure, a world of refinement set against a rugged and powerful landscape. ” Translating the mood of his Safari apparel line to men’s watches, the first Safari models appeared in 2013 in gunmetal steel cases in 39 and 45mm diameters and chronometer-certified movements. The latest Safari returns in 2024 in a new 42mm case with three dial options powered by an automatic Sellita COSC-certified chronometer movement.

Now a colossal lifestyle emporium offering everything from tableware to pinstripe tailored suits, Ralph Lauren incorporated watches into the mix in 2008. Grouped thematically, the Stirrup and Polo collections play with the brand’s love of all things equestrian; the Automotive collection takes design cues from Ralph Lauren’s fabulous vintage car collection, including his 1938 Bugatti Type 57SC; the 867 Collection taps into his love for Art Deco design, and the Vintage 67 model’s name speaks on its own. While the designs are American, all the mechanical models are powered by Swiss movements.

Sitting alongside the existing 39 and 45mm Safari models, three new rugged-looking models in 42mm blackened steel cases join the collection. The 11.5mm thick steel case is blackened and shot-blasted to produce a slightly vintage gunmetal look. Like earlier editions, the bezel and caseback are secured by six screws and the crown is screwed to ensure the 100m water-resistance. The screw motif extends to the sides of the lugs giving the watch a solid tool-like vibe.

As outdoor adventure watches, the khaki, black and camo dials are snailed to produce a matte, non-reflecting surface. A distinctive feature of the Safari collection is the oversized, luminescent Arabic numerals, with extra-large numerals at 6 and 12 o’clock. Depending on the dial colour, the Arabic numerals are painted with beige or black Super-LumiNova. The sword-shaped hour and minute hands follow suit, while the baton central seconds hand is picked out in bright orange varnish on all three.

The movement powering the new 42mm Safari models is the RL300-1 automatic (Sellita SW300-1 base) with a 4Hz frequency, a power reserve of roughly 50 hours and COSC chronometer certification.

Fitted with an interchangeable strap system, the new 42mm Safari watches can be paired with three strap/bracelet choices – a dark brown aged Bund calfskin strap, an olive green weathered canvas strap, or a black aged steel 3-link bracelet. The models fitted with calfskin or canvas straps retail for EUR 3,600 or USD 3,500, and the Safari on a bracelet increases slightly in price to EUR 4,050 or USD 3,900 . Surprised to hear that RL watches is still going, I thought they had stopped a few years back! Always like the safari for its case finish, no date and no nonsense approach, they usually are great bargains second hand, including the precious metal ones.

The Ralph Lauren Safari Chronometer, known for its robust design, is now available in three new dial colors: khaki, camouflage, or black. It embodies the adventurous essence of a sporting expedition combined with a touch of global sophistication.

This year marks the introduction of the Safari Chronometer with a new 42 mm dial. In the Ralph Lauren  Safari watch collection, comes the RL67 Tourbillon (RLR0220704), a fashionable luxury watch for a major fashion brand continuing to assert themselves in the luxury watch market. The notion of a “Safari Tourbillon” is an ironic concept borne out of emotion rather than practicality. It isn’t about anyone needing this watch, but more about the personality it implies. Maybe it is like Land Rover which started as a more or less “safari truck” and is now a plaything of rappers and rich soccer moms. So is there a future in luxtopia for a safari watch? That really isn’t up to me to decide as I am not in the demographic of customers who spend $50,000 or more in timepiece purchases. To be fair, I prefer other pieces in the gunmetal (style metal) clad Safari watches in Ralph Lauren’s high-end watch range. For many watch collectors, the Safari Tourbillon may not hit a sweet spot, but for others who see the tourbillon itself as a tangible symbol of status, I think there is room for a piece such as this.

At $55,000, the Ralph Lauren RL67 Tourbillon is arguably well-priced given that most tourbillon-based watches from the watch motherland are $70,000 and over. Though, Swiss tourbillon watches priced as low as $30,000 aren’t unheard of. This particular piece has a movement produced by La Fabrique du Temps in Geneva, a respected third-party high-end movement maker. Ralph Lauren – through their partnership with Richemont – has never been about creating their own movements, but rather borrowing talent from existing high-end houses such as Piaget, IWC, and Jaeger-LeCoultre.

At 45mm (44.8mm) wide, the steel watch wears like a champion. The case is still technically part of Ralph Lauren’s Sporting collection, but that name seems to have been removed in favor of “Safari” here. It isn’t actually gunmetal in the traditional sense, but rather finished to look like gunmetal, which in a sense actually makes it looks better. A few years after it launched, the case and its bezel screws still have a solid handsome look to them that is very much in line with Ralph Lauren’s personal aesthetic of vintage sport performance – with a hint of “aged by activity.”

REVIEW: Ralph Lauren RL67 Safari Chronometer 39 mm

W e have already shown you the Ralph Lauren RL67 Safari Chronometer numerous times, including HERE  in the 39 mm case and HERE  in the 45 mm size. But recently, we took it a step further and wore the watch for a weekend in Vegas, around town, at the pool, at the club, giving it a more thorough test. Read on to hear our thoughts.

First off, having a 7.5″ wrist or smaller, the 39 mm seemed liked the ideal size. And upon arriving and strapping it on, we confirmed this. When we asked Ralph Lauren Watch Co. if the 39 mm is marketed towards men or women, they said it does, in fact, target the former, but can also be worn by the latter, as seen by so many women nowadays, who wear bigger watches. If you have extra-large wrists or prefer the oversized look, then go with the 45 mm version.

Second, while the watch is not powered by a Jaeger-LeCoultre, Piaget or IWC movement – like many of the Ralph Lauren watch models have been equipped with since the beginning of the joint venture between Ralph Lauren and the Richemont group (who owns all of the aforementioned brands) – it is instead equipped with a Sellita SW-300 Chronometer grade movement that beats at 4Hz, has a 42-hour power reserve and is finished with vertical Côtes de Genève and perlage (circular graining). The advantage is that it can be offered at a much more affordable price point because it is not an exclusive in-house manufactured Richemont caliber. But don’t let that deter you, because as I mentioned, it is a chronometer level movement, so it is highly reliable and accurate. Something I can attest to over the course of my time wearing. The precision was right on.

Third, the (38.70 mm by 10.40 mm) case which is made in what Ralph Lauren calls “black aged stainless steel” is more of a dark greyish gunmetal color. The hue is excellent, giving the watch an appearance that is distinctive from your typical murdered-out  timepiece. Furthermore, the PVD finish is very robust, which I tested first hand by accidentally banging it into a wall. It took the white paint right off the wall, I wiped it off, and there was not even a scratch on the case. There is something to be said about a watch that you can beat up without worrying too much about damaging it.

Fourth, is the azure anthracite dial, finished with a matte varnish. The large concentric circle pattern is stamped onto the dial with a CNC machine, resulting in what is called an “azurage” finish. The pattern, which is typically used on smaller subdials, looks great as the entire backdrop for the dial. On top of that are big, easy to read beige luminescent Arabic numbers that have been printed. The minute track is printed in the same color material around the outer ring. The sword-shaped hour and minute hands have a shiny black oxidized finish and are filled with a luminescent material the matches the Arabic hour numerals. A shiny orange varnish painted, baton-shaped center seconds gives the watch a nice color contrast. Printed in the middle is “RALPH LAUREN Chronometer.” And there is no date display. Overall, the minimalist look is great and offers easy time reading at a glance, which is great while you are rushing around and having fun in Vegas.

Lastly, the dial is protected by a slightly convex sapphire crystal with an internal colorless anti-reflective treatment. The bezel and lug screws are non-functional, however, the solid caseback is secured by six functional screws. The steel crown is signed with “RL” and screws down.

Final Thoughts

Ralph Lauren may not be the name you associate with wristwatches, but believe me they take this part of their business just as serious as the fashion side of the business. In fact, Ralph Lauren, whom I’ve personally met, is involved in every design decision.

While the olive green “weathered” canvas strap, with black leather lining and a black “aged” stainless steel pin buckle, works flawlessly with the Safari look, so does an aftermarket Nato strap, which is also what I recommend if you want to use this around water.

In my opinion, the watch is the right size and has the look that works equally well at the beach or with a sports shirt. And while it is not a dive watch, it is perfect for the beach, lake, pool or boat, mainly because it has a locking crown, good water sealing and is 100 meters water-resistant. Further, the circular azurage finish dial looks awesome, and the readability is amongst the best I have seen.

Back when it debuted in January, we brought you a few photos of the Ralph Lauren RL67 Safari Chronometer live from SIHH 2013. We knew immediately that this was one we were going to have to get our hands on back in the United States, and the pieces are finally arriving on our shores. We spent some time with this relatively budget-friendly chronometer from Ralph Lauren and overall are very impressed.

In case you need some reminding, Ralph Lauren Watches is part of the Richemont group, meaning the brand has access to some fantastic movements that typically elevate these far beyond your typical "fashion watch." Plus you get that distinctive Ralph Lauren aesthetic and good attention to detail when it comes to design.

The RL67 Safari Chronometer On The Wrist

And that brings us to the RL67 Safari Chronometer. This watch starts with a rather large 45mm (44.8mm to be precise) aged black stainless steel case similar to the one you may remember seeing with the RL67 Safari Watch last year ( you can read all about that special gunmetal case here ). Inside though is a time-only chronometer movement. It is important to note that this is not a Richemont movement, but rather a "Richemont-modified" automatic movement called the caliber RL300-1. This is the first chronometer certified movement in a Ralph Lauren watch, so while you're not getting something in-house from IWC, Piaget, or Jaeger-LeCoultre, you are getting a COSC certification.

A Closer Look At The RL67 Safari Chronometer's Dial

The dial is appropriately sporty for the large, inky black case. There is a deep circular graining that catches tons of light, lending hints of green and khaki to the anthracite base color. And while it shimmers a bit, I wouldn't call the dial shiny or reflective in any way, which keeps things from getting flashy. There is a minutes track printed around the edge of the dial and luminescent printed Arabic numerals as well, including the oversized 12 and 6. This looked a bit strange to me at first, but after a day or two I got used to this and even began to like the little touch.

The "Ralph Lauren Chronometer" signature is down by 6 o'clock and is relatively subtle, matching the color of the minutes track and numerals. The simple three-hand layout has luminous hours and minutes hands that recall those on vintage pilot's watches and a straight bright orange seconds hand.  

Case Detailing And Nicely Shaped Lugs

Olive Canvas Strap With Gunmetal Buckle

The details on this watch are really nicely executed. For example, the screw detail is carried from the bezel through to the lugs and this watch also comes on the amazing olive canvas strap that the other RL67 watches have come on (and that we've praised before on HODINKEE). There is no getting around the 45mm size, but between the lug shape and the strap, the Safari Chronometer wears smaller than you might think.

And the best part is that the RL67 Safari Chronometer comes in at $3,250, placing it on the more affordable end of the spectrum when talking about watches in this class. You get the aesthetic benefits of a Ralph Lauren watch with a Richemont-modified, COSC-certified movement. For what this watch is aiming to be – a well-built, casual, stylish watch for a guy looking for a little horological seriousness – it does a stellar job.

Ralph Lauren goes minimal for latest fashion show, with muted tones and a more intimate setting

NEW YORK (AP) — Ralph Lauren has been known for many a grand fashion show over the years: taking over Central Park for a sumptuous anniversary celebration, for example, or staging a runway show amid his eye-popping classic car collection.

But for his Fall/Holiday 2024 collection, he decided to go minimal — at least, minimal in Ralph Lauren terms. That meant an intimate show Monday night in a (relatively) small design studio at his New York City offices, inspired by his first women’s fashion show in 1972, where he displayed his wares to editors and friends in his own office.

In front of a typically starry front row that included actors Glenn Close, Jessica Chastain, Kerry Washington, Rebecca Hall and Jodie Turner-Smith, Lauren opened his show on a note of timelessness — his longtime ethos — with the appearance of muse and supermodel Christy Turlington, now 55, in a sleek beige wool coat.

What followed were a series of designs in soothing neutral tones: tans, browns, grays, black and metallics. The soft palette characterized both daytime garments like tailored jackets and sweaters with trousers, and evening wear like slinky, sequined gowns. There were roomy sweaters, lots of boots and wide leather belts with “RL” buckles.

There were Lauren’s familiar Western accents, like long fringes on coats and jacket sleeves. And especially the occasional cowboy hat, which accompanied not only casual ensembles but, to close out the show with a memorable look, a backless gown dress in sparkly gold.

Lauren, 84, appeared briefly at the end, in well-worn jeans, to cheers from the crowd, which also included Vogue editor Anna Wintour.

Close wore a white Lauren pantsuit. “This is a very, very special suit," the actor said. “It was made especially for me. Custom. Five years ago. I won a SAG award in it. So here I am. It looks just as beautiful. It’s a shame to wear something like this only once.”

Close added that growing up in New England, “the mentality was, you buy something that has great quality and then you wear it until it wears out. That’s how I was brought up."

After the show, guests walked the few blocks down to Lauren’s Polo Bar restaurant, where the designer was again cheered when he made his entrance — before tucking into one of his restaurant’s signature burgers.

Lauren's son, David, an executive at the label, discussed the task of creating new designs each season. “You know, everything changes," he said. “You're always looking at new fabrics and you’re looking at new silhouettes, and you’re looking at new ways to bring the brand to life. But there is a philosophy. There is a style.”

With Wintour’s Met Gala coming up in exactly a week, David Lauren was asked if the label would be dressing any stars. “Not this year,” he said. “We’ve been so involved over the years, but this year we have a fashion show and we’re about to outfit team USA (for the Olympics in Paris) and do a men’s presentation in Milan. So our our plate is full.”

After a four-year hiatus, the time is right for another Madison Avenue Watch Week.

The Madison Avenue Watch Week was last held in 2019, and subsequently put on hold due to the pandemic which kept people at home and forced many businesses on Madison Avenue and across the country to close either temporarily or permanently.

As in the past, this year’s edition of Madison Avenue Watch Week is expected to draw hundreds of watch collectors and connoisseurs, as well as a good number of master watchmakers — some flying in from Europe — and others just eager to get out, roam the avenue and check out the newest timepieces and stores.

“There is a genuine fascination with luxury watches . People are so interested in the production process, the handiwork, the details,” said Matt Bauer, the president of the Madison Avenue Business Improvement District which organized Watch Week along with WWD. “There are people that are truly dedicated to learning every aspect about what’s new in luxury watches and how they’re made.”

Madison Avenue Watch Week kicks off Tuesday with opening night receptions and runs through May 4. It’s the 10th time the annual Watch Week is being held. Discussions, workshops, demonstrations, product introductions and special viewings are all part of the program. Twelve watch stores on Madison Avenue between 57th Street and 75th Street are participating. Watch Week is part of the Madison Avenue BID’s robust schedule of events and activities through the year, among them the Gallery Walk, the Metropolitan Opera festival, and a celebration of the Chinese New Year. The  Madison Avenue  BID has even staged “Shop With Your Dog” days for the combined purposes of encouraging people to adopt dogs, supporting the Humane Society of New York, and like the BID events, lifting shopper traffic along the city’s toniest and most fashionable venue.

For the first time for Watch Week, the Madison Avenue BID is collaborating with the Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie to stage the event. According to its website, FHH was founded in 2005 by Audemars Piguet, Girard-Perregaux and the Richemont Group and is a not-for-profit organization that promotes “watchmaking culture, and positions the watch as an object of art and culture.”

Watch Week is also partnering with the Horological Society of New York and RedBar. The Horological Society of New York was founded in 1866 and is also a nonprofit “dedicated to advancing the art and science of horology through education.” RedBar is a watch collectors club that meets regularly in New York.

“With watches, it’s really a reason why you would come to a store,” said Bauer. “You need to see them in person. You want to touch them and have that visceral connection, and that’s what Madison Avenue Watch Week is all about.”

Bauer added that part of the impetus for bringing Watch Week back is because watch brands and other businesses, including designer stores, restaurants and galleries, have reinvested in Madison Avenue since the pandemic. He pointed out that in the watch category, A. Lange & Söhne opened in October 2023 at 709 Madison Avenue and Panerai opened in June 2023 at 711 Madison Avenue. In addition, IWC Schaffhausen is opening during Watch Week at 645 Madison Avenue, and Jaeger-LeCoultre, located at 701 Madison Avenue, doubled in size this month.

After seeing a surge of vacancies, many even before the pandemic, Madison Avenue has been rebounding now for about two-and-a-half years. In a January 2024 report, the BID indicated that 20 projects including designer stores, hotels and restaurants are to be completed this year and into 2025, on top of the 32 businesses that opened during the second half of 2023. The  Madison Avenue  BID extends from East 57th to East 86th streets along Madison Avenue and blocks just to the east and west of the avenue. In the second half of 2022, there were 29 shop openings along Madison Avenue between 57th and 86th streets.

According to Bauer, the most recent wave of openings is different. “One of the things that distinguished those that have recently opened, pardon the pun, is that they are places to spend time in. Each have spaces or lounge areas where you can really be immersed in the brand, its designs and its history.”

Bauer also believes that staging Watch Week has a halo effect up and down the avenue. “The watch collections really bring so many new clients to the avenue, and then they discover all the things that are here from the fashion collections and restaurants to the galleries and the like.”

In another twist this year, Davide Cenci will stage an “off the cuff” fashion show at the brand’s townhouse at 1041 Madison Avenue featuring Cenci’s tailored menswear collection paired with vintage watches curated by Element iN Time.

Among other highlights of the upcoming Madison Avenue Watch Week:

• The 1916 Company, the collectible watch and fine jewelry company formed through last year’s merger of WatchBox, Govberg, Radcliffe and Hyde Park Jewelers, will present exclusive F.P. Journe and De Bethune Watches & Wonders exhibitions as well as F.P. Journe and De Bethune education sessions with Jack Forster, George Mayer and Tim Mosso.
• A. Lange & Söhne will provide the opportunity to learn about the history of the brand while experiencing the craftsmanship of watchmakers flown in from Glashütte, Germany, through a live demonstration on one of its in-house movements and a dialog with one of its own watchmakers. By appointment only.
• Apple will curate Today at Apple Watch sessions. Participants can learn ways to personalize and utilize for their business. By appointment.
• Breitling Boutique celebrates its 140th anniversary with a special vintage collection of watches that highlight the brand’s innovation through the decades.
• Buccellati will share its extraordinary timepiece history and present a special showing in its gallery setting.
• Element iN Time NYC will display its vast collection of vintage and modern timepieces from assorted Swiss manufacturers. By appointment.
• Jaeger-LeCoultre offers a series of watchmaking masterclasses led by an expert watchmaker. Participants will be able to practice skills of traditional watchmaking with the opportunity to bring a timepiece to life by assembling a mechanical movement. Reservation required.
• Montblanc celebrates the beginning of Madison Avenue Watch Week and invites watch connoisseurs to discover its curated collection of 2024 Watch Novelties. Book a private appointment with a Montblanc watch specialist.
• Ralph Lauren will have on view a specially curated timepiece collection.
• IWC Schaffhausen will present a panel discussion on “How a watch stays eternally relevant,” for an exploration of the IWC Portugieser, one of the brand’s oldest and best known watches, and how it has remained an icon for 85 years, as well as private, small-group product presentations of the newest timepieces just unveiled at Watches and Wonders, the trade fair that is held in Geneva.

A new Flagship store for a luxury Retail brand- the First American brand in Russia. First floor – Accessories ; Second floor- Women’s Apparel; Third Floor- Men’s Apparel; Fit Rooms, and cash wraps. Polo Ralph Lauren’s brand is about life-style and aspiration.

The store design is meant to provide the stage set for that life-style, looking more like been granted access to a private mansion-with its attendant public and private rooms -than a store. For this first Flagship in Moscow, the interior was to evoke the luxurious interiors of turn-of-the-century Russia as the setting for an iconic American brand: Anna Karenina meets Ralph Lauren.

This three-level store for Polo Ralph Lauren’s first flagship store in Russia is located in an historic commercial building dating from the 1870’s. Located in Moscow’s city center, it is a short distance from Red Square. Known as ‘Tretyakovsky Passage,’ the building has a sculpted brick fade that is typical of turn of the century Russian buildings, including the red brick fortified walls of the nearby KremlinPalace.

The store fronts on a main thoroughfare, with its primary entrance on one side of an enormous arched portal that leads to an interior passage of additional luxury shops. Half dome awnings over arched display windows and main entry distinguish the Polo brand on the facade. Within the store, architectural details evoke “classic” Russian style, reminiscent of the turn of the century. The ground floor has 14′ high vaulted ceilings adorned with decorative plaster moldings of ropes, wreaths and festoons.

Arched doorways with custom antique silver frames reflect the arched window openings on the fade. The floors are made honed French limestone tiles with black marble insets. Custom display fixtures are detailed with in antique silver. Guests can travel to the two upper floors via a custom wrought iron and glass elevator or a French limestone staircase that wraps around the glass elevator shaft.

The stair has a custom wrought iron and antique silver railing that features motifs of vines and balls. The second floor is devoted to Women’s Collection with millwork of hand-painted white lacquer continuing the lighter, more feminine palette of limestone floors and white ceilings detailed with beams and crystal chandeliers. The third floor, which carries the Men’s Collection, evokes a more masculine feel created by the use of rich millwork of stained and ebonized. Accents of antique silver and leather accent the spaces throughout the store enhancing the exclusive ambience.

What were the principal design problems? Although intended as a commercial building, the existing foot print of this section of the Passage was anything but regular. Years of additions and renovations made for a highly irregular floor plan, with each floor a different footprint. The ground floor was a double height space with an existing storage room mezzanine. The top floor especially was a jumble of additive parts at odd angles, with a very low ceiling.

An additional challenge was that the plan on each floor was split in two by a massive structural wall that ran longitudinally through the space. The wall was punctured with several arched openings of varying widths in different locations on each floor. The client also stipulated that no supply air grilles be visible in the sales spaces.

How were these problems addressed? Ralph Lauren stores done in the traditional style are all about rooms; rooms that look like studies, boudoirs, parlors and great halls. The additive nature of the plan lent itself well to the creation of distinct rooms. Similarly, the longitudinal structural wall became an organizing element in the plan of each floor. Schemes using the arches of the openings were tried and rejected, but the location of the openings determined entrances and exits into rooms. Supply air was delivered in a continuous slot incorporated into the crown moldings of each room.

Russian flagship boutique for Ralph Lauren, this store was a complete gut renovation of a historically listed property near Moscow’s Red Square. This three-story store consists of a large Accessories presentation on the Ground Floor, Women’s Apparel on the second floor & Men’s apparel on the 3rd floor. The design for the store was inspired by Russia’s rich architectural heritage while remaining true to the guiding Ralph Lauren aesthetic. From the outset, this store caused a local sensation with record sales and helped to firmly root Ralph Lauren in the Russian market.

Ralph Lauren Moscow

The interior of this Moscow flagship recalls the opulence of Imperial Russia. Located in a historic building near Red Square, the store features three floors of luxurious materials and details such as honed French limestone floors, antique silver display fixtures, decorative plaster molding and a custom wrought iron and glass elevator surrounded by an elaborate limestone staircase. The men’s floor provides a more masculine environment with richly paneled millwork of stained and ebonized mahogany.
