Taylor Swift ticket demand crashes Ticketmaster website, presale times changed

There's "Bad Blood" between fans and the ticket platform.

Taylor Swift fans are truly seeing “Red” after a massive surge in demand for presale tickets for her new tour led to major issues on Ticketmaster Tuesday.

The ticket platform announced that it’s been forced to delay the presale release of West coast concert tickets until 3 p.m. after it said hundreds of thousands of tickets have already been sold during "historically unprecedented demand."

Further, Capital One, who also planned to release tickets to cardholders only, rescheduled its presale to Nov. 16 at 2 p.m. local venue time. All presale codes and links sent via text will still work at that time, according to Ticketmaster .

A surge of outraged fans in online waiting rooms took to social media to call out their frustrations with Ticketmaster over the presale ticket process for Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour. Some said they have been waiting “in line” for nearly four hours and still haven't had the chance to choose tickets.

"Sitting in a paused queue for over 2 hours for Taylor Swift Eras Tour tickets is my villain origin story,”" one fan wrote on Twitter.

Usual $60 nosebleed seats are reportedly being resold for $700. One fan said they found a resale ticket priced at $33,750.

"There has been historically unprecedented demand with millions showing up to buy tickets for the TaylorSwiftTix Presale," Ticketmaster said in a statement Tuesday. "If you are currently in a queue, please hang tight - queues are moving and we are working to get fans through as quickly as possible."

What is ticketmaster's verified fan program.

The presale tickets were only for so-called “verified” Swift fans, aimed at ensuring that loyal “Swifties” can get tickets to the star’s big show through a special presale code.

Ticketmaster introduced the “Verified Fan” program in 2017. Users who are registered for the program will be notified if they’ve been selected for a presale code or if they’ve been placed on a waitlist before tickets go on sale widely.

Last week, Taylor Swift announced that she was adding eight more shows, on top of the additional 17 shows the star has already tacked onto The Eras Tour, according to a press release from Ticketmaster on Nov. 11. The tour, which kicks off in March 2023, is the 32-year-old singer's biggest U.S. stadium tour ever.

The tour will feature songs from her record-breaking album, "Midnights," that the singer released in October. Swift became the first artist to claim the entire top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart with the new record.

Taylor Swift

Trying to see Taylor Swift live? You’re on your own, kid.

Tickets for the pop star’s highly-anticipated “ Eras Tour ” became available for presale on Tuesday morning to lucky Swifties selected as “verified fans” by Ticketmaster . However, for many, today wasn’t a fairytale.

I started my ticket-buying journey at 8 a.m. PT, an hour before my purchasing window for the Glendale, Ariz. shows. While Ticketmaster issued the codes, both Glendale and the Arlington, Texas concert presales were executed through SeatGeek .

Popular on Variety

@Ticketmaster @TMFanSupport we have been at the same number (number 295) in the queue for a new jersey show for over an hour now. can you please help us? — sofia is not another rockstar (@alltoosofia) November 15, 2022

As soon as the clock struck 9, I was redirected to SeatGeek’s virtual line. Unlike Ticketmaster, there was no telling where I was in the queue: the words “you’re in line” were accompanied by an unmoving orange progress bar.

At 9:09 a.m., one of my computers displayed a blurry image of the seat map. It took another four minutes for the interface to actually load. I immediately noticed that I was assigned March 18, with no option to try for the March 17 show, despite Ticketmaster’s assurance that the verified fan presale would apply to any dates for your selected venue. I decided not to waste time over the date, instead locking in on the very front of the pit, choosing four seats as close to the stage as possible.

My boss called me in the middle of my ticket-induced meltdown. After an attempt to discuss the workday was interrupted by my screams of expletives, we cut things short. “Get your tickets and call me after you’re done,” he said, clearly recognizing I was in a frenzy.

At 9:18 a.m., I finally managed to pick some seats that were actually available in the front section of the pit. I was, to borrow a phrase from Swift, “The Lucky One,” snagging four tickets at $429 each (plus the dreaded service fees, adding $99.14 to each ticket).

After soaking in the glory of being my friend group’s hero (and finally calling my boss back), I texted another pal buying tickets for an L.A. show. “Ticketmaster has not let me into the waiting room, which was supposed to be open 20 minutes ago,” he said. After 20 minutes, he was pushed to a sale at 3 p.m. PT.

Ticketmaster addressed the crash in a statement on social media, citing “historically unprecedented demand with millions showing up to buy tickets.” The seller delayed the Capital One presale by a full day, moving it to Wednesday at 2 p.m. local venue time.

Moreover, fans who had tickets to Swift’s canceled “Lover Fest” were promised “preferred access” to the sale, but it seems that fell to the wayside during the purchase process, with many reporting they still waited in the general presale queue.

What is the point of having verified priority because of canceled lover fest tickets if all it meant was waiting in line for 5 hours only to have zero tickets available when I'm finally let in??? @taylornation13 what kind of priority is that lol — itsa me!! ang (@anginkies) November 15, 2022

A quick glance at StubHub shows that seats in my section now range from $1,999 to $12,825. If the verified fan system was intended to stop scalpers from reselling tickets at a premium… it didn’t. It’s curious that Ticketmaster, which controlled the number of verified fans, wouldn’t have the means to support the sale.

Obviously, tickets for Swift’s concerts are a hot commodity, but no one should be forced to take days off work and wait in hours-long lines with no end in sight just to see their favorite artist. While I’m grateful I’ll be able to attend the “Eras Tour,” I can’t stop thinking about how poorly this sale went — and this is far from the first strike against these sellers.

Ticketmaster and SeatGeek: You’re the problem, it’s you.

Ticketmaster Pauses Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour Sale in France

Fans trying to purchase tickets to six of the pop superstar’s concerts faced long queues and technical issues before the company said that a new on-sale time would be announced.

Ticketmaster has once again cracked under the weight of a Taylor Swift ticket sale — this time in France.

As French fans prepared on Tuesday to purchase tickets to six concerts in May and June 2024 on Swift’s Eras Tour —  four shows in Paris, two in Lyon — Ticketmaster’s website displayed a gigantic queue of customers ready to buy; one screenshot appeared to tell a fan that 1,023,504 shoppers were in line ahead of them.

Soon, Ticketmaster announced that sales for those shows had been placed on “pause.” The company said that a new on-sale time would be announced, and that “all codes not already used will remain valid.” But some fans’ social media posts seemed to show technical errors on Ticketmaster’s website, including a progress icon that “keeps spinning and spinning and spinning,” as one fan — speaking English with an American accent, but with 762 euros’ worth of tickets in their shopping cart — put it.

A few hours later, the French branch of Ticketmaster offered some more detail on social media, blaming the problem on a “third-party provider” that the company did not identify, and adding that tickets were still available. A representative of Live Nation Entertainment, Ticketmaster’s corporate parent, said that the provider works with Ticketmaster only in France.

The situation in France appeared to be a frustrating repeat of the problems that plagued Swift’s North American presale in November, when an influx of millions of fans — and bots — overwhelmed Ticketmaster’s systems, and fans reported issues like tickets in their shopping carts disappearing before they could be purchased. Ticketmaster shut down its public sale as a result, though the company also said it had sold more than two million tickets to the tour in a single day.

Problems like those at Swift’s presale in November — as well as long-simmering concerns over Ticketmaster and Live Nation’s market dominance — led to a brutal Senate Judiciary hearing in January. Senators from both parties flatly called the company a monopoly and were skeptical of an executive’s explanation that Ticketmaster was unable to defend itself against an onslaught of bots during Swift’s presale.

“This is unbelievable,” Senator Marsha Blackburn, Republican of Tennessee, said at the hearing. “Why is it,” she added, “that you have not developed an algorithm to sort out what is a bot and what is a consumer?”

Yet the demand for Swift tickets has been extraordinary, with Swift selling out stadiums everywhere she plays and tickets going for thousands of dollars on the secondary market. She is scheduled to complete the North American leg of her tour next month, then play in Latin America, Asia and Europe.

The Justice Department has separately been conducting an antitrust investigation of Live Nation. The Justice Department has not confirmed that investigation, but Live Nation’s chief executive, Michael Rapino, has spoken about it openly.

The high-demand tickets are being sold through AXS and Ticketmaster, but some fans complained they weren't able to get through to the AXS queue due to email verification issues.

Fans reported that the ticket queue started working again around 20 minutes after the tickets went on sale - but some claimed that they have been "screwed over by the system" as the delay has pushed them to the back of the queue.

@tylalews1 tweeter: "I finally made it into the @AXS_UK queue for Taylor Swift tickets. But now I’m probably so far at the back of the queue that I’ll probably never get tickets anyway. So frustrating to do everything right but then get screwed over by the system/website."

@SDemoc said: "@TicketmasterUK just been bumped out of the Taylor Swift ticket queue as about to buy. Now at back of queue!"

Today, tickets for two of six London dates and all three Edinburgh dates go on sale. Taylor's Wembley Stadium gig on June 21 and her BT Murrayfield gig on June 7 went on sale at 11am.

At 1pm, general sale tickets for London on August 15 and Edinburgh on June 8 go on sale. Edinburgh's final date on June 9 goes on general sale at 5pm.

This week’s registered fan sales come after the Midnights pre-sale last week, which granted a select number of fans access to an early ticket sale if they pre-ordered Taylor’s Midnights album.

Although, this didn’t go down without a hitch either, with site outages wreaking havoc – and there was chaos in Paris as over one million fans joined the virtual queue .

Consequently, Ticketmaster was left with no choice but to postpone the sale.

Everyone’s favourite US singer-songwriter returns to Europe next year for a string of dates on British soil following the incredible success of her American leg this summer.

Taylor will play six dates in London alone , as well as three in Liverpool, three in Edinburgh, three in Dublin, and one in Cardiff.

As if her three-hour concert taking fans on a trip down memory lane through all her eras wasn’t enough, she’ll also be supported by the one and only Paramore!

Taking to Twitter after her shows in Denver last weekend, the Grammy winner expressed her gratitude to fans as the US leg nears its end.

‘Just had the best time in Denver!! And we got to be the first tour to play in that stadium 2 nights’, she wrote.

‘It’s really hitting me that we only have 3 cities left on the US Eras Tour. This has been my favorite adventure of all. I appreciate and cherish every second of it.’

Taylor Swift fans report Ticketmaster outages while trying to scoop up presale tickets for The Eras Tour

By Erica Mokay

Updated on: November 15, 2022 / 11:28 PM EST / CBS Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — The presale of tickets for Taylor Swift's The Eras Tour caused issues for Ticketmaster.

Downdetector.com began reporting outages for the Ticketmaster website just before 9 a.m. on Tuesday, with a huge spike between the 9:30-10:30 a.m. hours.

Presale began Tuesday morning and general ticket sales for the highly-anticipated tour are set to start Friday, Nov. 18, at 10 a.m.

Because of the issues, Ticketmaster issued instructions to fans on Twitter.

"If you received a code to the TaylorSwiftTix Presale, please login and access the queue through the link you received via text rather than entering through the Ticketmaster homepage. This will ensure an optimal shopping experience."

However, many fans have taken to social media to complain about the outages. A Pittsburgh mother said her search ended in disappointment on Tuesday.

"I finally gave up I think at 4 p.m. because it just wasn't good for my mental health," Jamie Murphy said.

Murphy said she tried for six hours to get tickets for her girls.

"As a parent, the reason I kept pushing is that I knew I would have three girls who were crying because they couldn't go," Murphy said.

"I was really hoping it would work because she's my favorite songwriter ever, and I really like her," Morgan Murphy said.

"Unprecedented demand for tickets" prompted Swift to add 17 additional dates to her tour last week. One of those additions is an extra date in Pittsburgh.

Swift will perform back-to-back shows on Friday, June 16, and Saturday, June 17. Friday's show will feature girl in red and Gracie Abrams and the second will feature girl in red and Owenn.

On Twitter , fans claim they've been left unable to access the general ticket sale as a message on AXS reads: "The queue is paused". MillaBerenice tweeted: "@AXS_UK queue is apparently paused for Taylor Swift ticket in London - wondering if this is an error or just waiting for the waiting room issue to be sorted. I got into the waiting room but now stuck here."

Alexkingo67 added: "Pretty sure #AXS knows there's a problem with the waiting room. I've managed to join the waiting room and queue, but the queue is paused."

Swiftly resolved? The problems in concert ticketing – and how to fix them

After an outright debacle in the US, European fans of Taylor Swift have still found getting tickets to be a nightmare. Industry experts explain how to improve the experience

L ast year, thousands faced disaster when trying to buy tickets for Taylor Swift’s Eras tour in the US. Fans said the presale access codes they were given didn’t work properly and the Ticketmaster website crashed repeatedly. As a result, the main sale was cancelled and a group of fans filed a lawsuit accusing the company of fraud, price-fixing and anti-trust violations. “We need to do better and we will,” said Joe Berchtold, president of Ticketmaster’s parent company Live Nation.

In the UK and Europe this month, presales for various dates and locations opened at different times and different days, to try and avoid the same issues – but fans have found the process stressful and unpredictable. We spoke to some of them about the difficulty of buying Swift tickets, and to people across the industry about how the ticketing system can be improved.

How transparent is the pricing and distribution system?

Ticket prices for the primary market (those sold through a tour’s official ticket partners) are determined by the artist and their team alongside the tour promoter. Sometimes, they employ dynamic pricing where ticket prices fluctuate according to demand, as they do in the airline industry. While this doesn’t seem to have been in play for the Taylor Swift presales, Ticketmaster has used it in the recent past for shows by Harry Styles and Coldplay (and got flack due to prices sometimes doubling ).

For artists playing arenas and stadiums, prices typically fluctuate depending on how close the tickets get you to the stage. Then there’s the growing popularity of various VIP packages which offer a host of add-ons (of varying quality) for an extra fee. Swift fans only found out how much they were expected to pay for tickets once they made it through the giant online queues to the seat allocation: the fans we spoke to for this article reported price tags that ranged from £78 to £600 for a single ticket.

What makes it even more confusing is that multiple ticket companies will usually be involved in selling tickets for one show. Adam Webb, campaign manager at campaign group FanFair Alliance, explains: “At the majority of UK venues, box office contracts are usually outsourced to a third-party ticket company, which can be guaranteed an allocation of up to 60-70% of the tickets.” Promoters will then appoint a range of other companies to sell the rest, “so it’s quite common to see two, three or four official ticket agents at UK shows,” he says. For the Eras tour in the UK and Europe, there are five official providers operating across the different territories: Ticketmaster, AXS, Eventim, See Tickets and eBilet.

That’s before you get to secondary resale sites such as Viagogo and StubHub. Ticket prices are determined by the third-party seller and based on demand, hence they can reach extortionate levels. A recent listing on Viagogo priced up one ticket for Swift’s 21 June Wembley Stadium date from £49 face value to £393, plus a £74 booking and “handling” fee.

How much preparation does it take to get a Swift ticket?

Swift fans have been employing complex strategies involving spreadsheets, group chats, multiple computers and social media in order to aid their success in getting tickets. Hopeful fans needed to register for a presale code, which they already had if they’d pre-ordered Swift’s Midnights album last year. . Registration didn’t guarantee a code, and some were waitlisted; even those with codes are then put into a queue to buy tickets, their position seemingly random.

Andrea Rogers-Mühlhaus, a Swift fan who lives in Munich, had multiple presale codes and three computers set up for presale day. She and a friend tried to get tickets in Munich, Milan and Zurich but couldn’t get any that were in line with their €300 per-person budget.

After crying and feeling like she wanted to “throw up” from stress, Rogers-Mühlhaus’s husband got lucky. He managed to track down another code for Warsaw and secured affordable tickets. “I’m incredibly impressed,” she says. “I kept saying, ‘you can go all the way to the basket but it’s going to time out because it happened to me’. But it’s like he walked into a grocery store, picked up an apple, went to the checkout and it was his. It was so flawless.”

The Guardian’s deputy music editor Laura Snapes, who was eventually successful in buying tickets, has this tip: “Check again later once it seems as though a date is sold out, to try buying individual tickets – I got two in a row that way – and to keep searching for tickets even if it says none are found.”

What other issues have fans faced?

As well as these frustrations, French fans were left hanging last week after the sale was suspended due to a website glitch. And even fans who got through to the sale found themselves repeatedly getting timed out of the website, or panicking in the face of a 90-second checkout window.

Disabled fans trying to get tickets to the Wembley Stadium dates were faced with even more issues. They needed to call an access line managed by the venue directly, which Swift fan India Rose Meade says wasn’t functional on Monday’s presale day. “It would connect to the point that it would say ‘this line is too busy, please try again later’ and cut out after three or four seconds. It did that from opening time all the way through to the end of the day.” Meade eventually got hold of tickets by calling a different number on Tuesday.

Similarly, it took Jack Fermor-Worrell until 1.30pm on Tuesday afternoon “to reach an actual human being”. Then, he was faced with an option of buying a ticket for £197.25 – a “much higher price” than he’d hoped for. In a complaint written to the venue Fermor-Worrell said: “I feel beyond let down and somewhat insulted by the service that Wembley Stadium has provided to its disabled patrons throughout this entire experience.”

Is it a simple matter of demand outstripping supply?

A big part of the problem is unprecedented demand for the Swift shows. The 131-date tour could become the first in history to reach more than $1bn in ticket sales. Part of this is due to the fact that Swift is “having a moment”, says ticketing expert and consultant Tim Chambers: after dipping in favour at the end of the 2010s, Swift is back on top. Chambers calls the tour the “epitome of a frothy Fomo event”. Each show lasts more than three hours, encompassing highlights from her back catalogue to date.

There’s also pent-up demand: it’s Swift’s first tour since her 2017-18 Reputation dates. Since then, as Chambers points out, “we’ve had the pandemic, which forced a lockdown and limitation of live, and the re-recording of her back catalogue, so the tour is well-timed”.

Speaking of Covid, there’s also what economist Will Page correctly predicted to be “the slingshot” effect at play. After a two-year downturn of the live music industry, ticket sales bounced back last year as fans and artists clamoured to get back into venues to make up for lost time. According to data from trade title Pollstar , which concerns the US market, total ticket sale gross hit $6.28bn in 2022, up 13.2% on the pre-pandemic year of 2019. The publication is predicting a record-setting year at the box office thanks in large part to a number of big-selling artists, including Swift, being on the road.

What would a better, fairer ticketing situation look like across the industry?

Beyond improving technology to better handle high demand, it’s difficult to pinpoint what a different solution might look like. While there are many reports of issues with the sales process, other fans have been satisfied. Swiftie Mollie Corrigan managed to get seven tickets thanks to a presale code she got by ordering Swift’s latest Midnights album. “It meant that longtime fans got priority with tickets, which has been great compared to the general sale system where it’s random, and a lot less people were trying for the tickets at one time.”

Pixies manager Richard Jones says the issue lies in the complexity of the buying process. “I personally think they’ve tried to be too clever and made the entire process far too frustrating and difficult for people, who have other things going on in their lives. Yes, the demand is insane but knowing that, they need to prepare in a more sensible way. Make it more streamlined, make it very clear what you need to do to try and get a ticket and put all the dates on sale at the same time.”

When it comes to the secondary market, Jones says artists and their teams could have better control and “immediately” cancel any tickets that show up on websites like Viagogo and StubHub, a process he calls “complex, but very doable”.

Phil Hutcheon, who heads up ethical ticketing platform Dice, says the issues associated with the Eras tour create a “lack of trust” in the market. His platform advertises prices up front and doesn’t allow reselling. If fans can’t go to a sold-out show, organisers can deploy an option where, at the tap of a button, a refund is issued and the ticket goes to someone on a waiting list. “It’s not rocket science – it should be the same as buying a toaster on Amazon,” he says.

“At a basic level I think most of us want transparency,” concludes FanFair Alliance’s Webb. “We want clear upfront info about which companies are licensed to sell tickets, the pricing, and any important information about its use. And we also want to know where we can resell a ticket at the price paid or less, while cutting out the parasitical secondary market that invests nothing in UK culture.”

Ticketmaster To Swifties: "It's Me. Hi, I'm The Problem. It's Me."

🎶 I THINK THERE'S BEEN A GLITCH 🎶

taylor swift tour queue paused

Tickets to Taylor Swift's upcoming tour went on sale Tuesday — but Ticketmaster crashed almost immediately, making it impossible for many fans to buy tickets and sending thousands of Swifties into all-out pandemonium.

Snagging tickets to the "Eras Tour" — Swift's first tour in four years, and just as many original albums — was never going to be easy. Many enrolled for a chance to access the "Verified Fan" presale, but only the luckiest ones were selected.

Ticketmaster crashes may be nothing new, but fans knew there was trouble as soon as they logged in to the presale Tuesday morning. People were stuck waiting in the queue for hours with "2000+ people ahead" of them.

For those that managed to actually get through, many got error messages saying their codes were invalid or associated with a different account.

Some people even got kicked off the website while attempting to complete their purchase and had to rejoin the thousands waiting in the queue.

At one point, it appears Ticketmaster may have temporarily stopped sales in order to address the problems. After more than an hour in the queue, many people reported that a message had appeared on the page saying the queue had been paused. Since then, it appears to have opened back up.

At least some people have managed to secure tickets — including, of course, scalpers. Tickets are already listed on StubHub for thousands of dollars, and even nosebleed seats are going for hundreds.

It's not yet clear how widespread these issues are. Thousands of frustrated fans have tweeted at Ticketmaster, clamoring for a solution and complaining that the company hadn't adequately prepared for the demand. Early into the chaos, the company tweeted that it was "aware fans may be experiencing intermittent issues with the site” and is “urgently working to resolve" the problem.

Later Tuesday, Ticketmaster said demand for tickets was "historically unprecedented," with "millions" of fans attempting to purchase theirs. "Hundreds of thousands" of tickets have been sold so far, it said. Those stuck in the queue were advised to "hang tight" while the company worked "to get fans through as quickly as possible."

The West Coast presale was pushed back several hours, and the Capital One presale — which was expected to be even bigger than the Verified Fan presale — was postponed until Wednesday.

"Thank you for your patience as we continue managing this huge demand," the company said.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez criticized Ticketmaster in a tweet, saying they're a "monopoly" that needs "to be reigned in," echoing growing accusations from activists that the company's 2010 merger with Live Nation violated antitrust laws.

Ticket sales for Taylor Swift tour reignite fan frustration over Ticketmaster

Ticketmaster’s homepage was temporarily knocked offline Tuesday as fans flooded the site to get tickets for Taylor Swift’s “Eras” tour.

“HOW IS TICKETMASTER ALREADY DOWN ?????? #TaylorSwiftTix” one fan wrote , echoing the frustration of thousands of “Swifties,” the nickname for diehard Swift fans, vying to see their favorite artist in her first concert tour since before the pandemic.

Swift's 2023 U.S. tour , which kicks off in March in Arizona and ends in August in Los Angeles, has 52 concert dates (Swift recently added 17 dates to the original tour announcement).

Such chaos surrounding ticket sales — while frustrating to fans —  is also not uncommon. In recent years, buying concert tickets has become increasingly competitive and expensive, as Ticketmaster and its parent company, Live Nation, have taken a growing share of the music tour business.

Backlash against the ticketing companies has also grown: When a major artist announces a tour, fans inevitably complain on social media about Ticketmaster’s high fees and unchecked scalping. Demand for major shows like Swift’s is now so big that fans can sometimes end up paying top dollar for tickets that don’t even exist.

“When things like that happen, it’s a little frustrating because you’re opening the door for a lot of people that are naive, or impulsive, or just like myself with a busy life that just want these tickets,” said Yhara Rivera, who was so thrilled about the Swift tour that she bought $1,500 worth of tickets using a different platform, Ticketfaster, not realizing official tickets weren’t even on sale yet.

“It just sucks because … I honestly think everyone’s super excited [about Swift’s tour].”

By Tuesday morning, Ticketmaster was trending on Twitter , with fans flooding the site with complaints. “Swifties” was also trending on Twitter.

Some fans reported that the queue had been “temporarily paused,” causing uncertainty as to if and when they’d ever obtain tickets

Ticketmaster and Live Nation did not respond to requests for comment. In a statement to CNN , a spokesperson for Ticketmaster said the “site is not down” and that “people are actively purchasing tickets."

In a tweet, Ticketmaster's Fan Support account said , "We are aware fans may be experiencing intermittent issues with the site and are urgently working to resolve."

Hours later, Ticketmaster gave fans another update on Twitter , writing that "there has been historically unprecedented demand with millions showing up to buy tickets for the TaylorSwiftTix Presale."

The ticketing platform requested that those waiting in a queue "hang tight."

"Queues are moving and we are working to get fans through as quickly as possible," Ticketmaster wrote, adding that the time slot for West Coasters who want to get tickets has moved from 10 a.m. PT to 3 p.m. PT.

As of 1:05 p.m. ET, “hundreds of thousands of tickets have been sold," Ticketmaster said.

A spokesperson for Swift did not respond to a request for comment.

‘Verified fan’ experience can further frustrate fans

In recent years, Ticketmaster has offered North American fans the option of registering as “Verified Fans” to enter a lottery to buy tickets for certain shows. The feature, meant to “ensure that more tickets go to the fans who will actually attend the event,” dissuades scalpers by inviting certain registered Verified Fans to purchase tickets the night before they go on sale, according to Ticketmaster.

Ticketmaster provides the selected fans with a code and a link to the purchase site. When tickets go on sale, the link leads fans to a “Smart Queue” that “keeps ticket bots out.” Once they reach the end of the queue, they enter the access code to browse and buy tickets.

Ahead of Swift’s tickets being released, Ticketmaster reminded fans that “no Verified Fan tickets have been sold.”

“Many unofficial sellers will list tickets on secondary marketplaces even before they go on sale,” the company wrote in an email to fans, adding also that “codes cannot be purchased. You should not trust anyone trying to sell you a code.”

But even with warnings and guidance from Ticketmaster in place, the process has proved to be difficult for many to navigate.

Last year, fans of Olivia Rodrigo ended up disappointed after they said Ticketmaster’s technical difficulties kept them from buying the coveted tickets when they went on sale.

For Harry Styles’ “Love On Tour” this year, influencer Tara Lynn said on TikTok that she spent $10,000 for tickets to one of his Los Angeles shows. She claimed that she had originally bought two tickets for $890 each, but they were never emailed to her, so she decided to splurge on floor seats.

Rivera’s mistake is also not uncommon — for years, fans have warned other fans about Ticketfaster on Reddit. A spokesperson for Ticketfaster did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Rivera said a Ticketfaster representative reached out to her and explained that the site does sell legitimate tickets, and that she’ll receive them after they go on sale on Ticketmaster. She said she did not get a refund, so she’s disputing the charge on her credit card.

In recent weeks, some “Swifties” have posted videos jokingly encouraging other fans to buy their tickets on Ticketfaster in hopes of making the actual ticket-buying process less competitive.

Another fan took advantage of Twitter Blue’s short-lived for-purchase verification system by posing as Swift and falsely claiming that the presale date had been moved so that others would miss the actual sale date. The account has since been suspended.

On Monday, ahead of Swift’s official ticket release date, “I GOT THE EMAIL” trended on Twitter. Users shared screenshots of emails from Ticketmaster that said “Your invitation to TaylorSwiftTix Presale powered by Verified Fan.” “You’ve been selected!” the email reads.

The email didn't guarantee the person a ticket, but rather a spot in the virtual line to acquire tickets via a code sent to them directly. Those who weren’t selected quickly lamented how they did not get a code.

Officials pledge to help combat ‘junk fees’

Ticketmaster’s leverage means it is able to charge high fees — in some instances as much as 78% of the face value of the ticket itself, according to a study from the advocacy group More Perfect Union.

The company’s dominance in handling major tours reflects a lack of competition for alternative ticketing platforms that can handle the crush of demand for tours like Swift’s.

“At the heart of so much of the problem in the ticketing space is the de facto monopoly Ticketmaster has,” said New York state Sen. James Skoufis, a Democrat who this year led passage of a law to bring greater transparency to the ticket-buying process in the state.

“Everyone except federal regulators view Ticketmaster as a monopoly, and from that come all the bad things that happen when there’s a monopoly in an industry,” Skoufis said.

Ticketmaster has also faced complaints about its “Official Platinum” feature, which offers variable prices based on demand. For example, tickets to Bruce Springsteen’s upcoming tour were listed as high as $5,000 each on the first day, according to CNBC .

That news prompted Rep. Bill Pascrell, D-N.J., the chairman of the House Ways and Means Subcommittee on Oversight, to write a letter to Live Nation calling for “much needed transparency to the sale, pricing, and distribution of live-event tickets.”

“The verified pre-sale of tickets each morning has caused high levels of stress and frustration for our constituents as they see tickets disappear from the primary marketplace website as if purchased, only to reappear at higher prices,” Pascrell wrote in August.

Ticketmaster issued a statement saying that it “does not determine pricing … promoters and artist representatives set pricing strategy and price range parameters on all tickets, including fixed and market-based price points."The fee situation has gotten the attention of the White House.

Last month, President Joe Biden announced he would begin cracking down on what he called junk fees that are often initially hidden from consumers when they search for a ticket, or are added on after buying.

“Each year, these ‘junk fees’ ... that companies charge cost Americans tens of billions of dollars, weighing down family budgets and making it harder for people to pay their bills,” Biden said.  “So my administration is taking action to eliminate these fees.”

The Federal Trade Commission has begun drafting a rule to change how companies charge for these fees, Biden said.

Live Nation appeared to welcome the news.

“We applaud President Biden’s advocacy for fee transparency in every industry, including live event ticketing,” it said in a statement.

As for the Swift ticket sales chaos on Tuesday, Ticketmaster urged fans on Twitter to avoid going through its homepage to get tickets.

"If you received a code to the TaylorSwiftTix Presale, please login and access the queue through the link you received via text rather than entering through the Ticketmaster homepage," Ticketmaster tweeted . "This will ensure an optimal shopping experience."

One fan replied , "Has anyone actually been able to get tickets??"

Ticketmaster France crashes after more than 1 million Taylor Swift fans swarm Eras presale

Taylor Swift

On Tuesday, European fans logged onto the Ticketmaster site to buy Taylor Swift concert tickets—and saw that over 1 million other fans were ahead of them in the virtual queue. The Swifties were vying for spots at the pop star’s six Eras Tour concerts in France slated for June 2024.

Soon, the site traffic got so high that Ticketmaster simply stopped sales with no explanation, saying that they had been placed on “pause” and that a different sale time would be announced later. All of the tickets already purchased at the time of the pause were still valid. According to fans on social media , the Ticketmaster site seemed to have technical problems, with the webpage freezing with a loading icon and not allowing shoppers to buy the items already in their cart.

“The onsale date and time for Taylor Swift The Eras Tour in France is being rescheduled and tickets are still available,” Ticketmaster France tweeted on Tuesday. “This morning’s sale was disrupted by an issue with a third-party provider and they are working to resolve this matter as soon as possible.”

Ticketmaster did not immediately respond to Fortune ’s request for more details about the issue with the third-party provider.

This isn’t the first time Ticketmaster has fumbled selling Swift’s tickets. The venue canceled a sale of tickets for the North American leg of the tour in November 2022.

“Due to extraordinarily high demands on ticketing systems and insufficient remaining ticket inventory to meet that demand, tomorrow’s public on-sale for Taylor Swift The Eras Tour has been cancelled,” Ticketmaster tweeted in November.

The Eras Tour, Swift’s first worldwide tour in five years, has set records for Ticketmaster traffic en route to becoming a bona fide cultural phenomenon. In November 2022, when Ticketmaster had to cancel a public sale, it told the New York Times that it had received 3.5 billion system requests in one day. The tour has become such a landmark cultural and economic event that fans are paying over $20,000 resale for a seat. The singer, who’s won 12 Grammy Awards, generates so much spending in her tour destinations that analysts have even coined her economic boost as the “TSwift Lift.” She is pulling down over $13 million per night, and the entire tour is projected to bring in over $1 billion, Bloomberg reported .

Recurrent problems with Ticketmaster’s sale of Eras tickets doesn’t just highlight Swift’s wild popularity—it reveals flaws in the dominant ticket outlet’s business. Part of the problem is that Ticketmaster, owned by Live Nation Entertainment, occupies most of the ticket selling market, so fans have little other choice but to suffer its millions-long queues and Sisyphean loading screens.

Ticketmaster was even subject to a Senate judiciary hearing in January, in which senators from both sides of the aisle dunked on the company for cornering the market, specifically citing its inability to deal with Swift’s presale.

“This is all the definition of monopoly,” Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) said at the hearing. “Live Nation is so powerful that it doesn’t even need to exert pressure. It doesn’t need to threaten. Because people just fall in line.”

The Justice Department is also reportedly conducting an antitrust investigation into Live Nation.

Swift will complete her North America leg of the Eras Tour next month, and then will continue to Latin America, Asia, and Europe, concluding in London in August 2024. She just might bring crashing Ticketmaster sites around the globe wherever she goes.

Taylor Swift announced the Eras Tour earlier this month — her first since her “Reputation” album tour in 2018 — and fans are eager to get their hands on tickets.

The series of concerts is described as “a journey through all of [Swift’s] musical eras” and will launch in stadiums in the US .

The coveted tickets went on presale Tuesday, and fans are burning Ticketmaster to the ground on Twitter after experiencing a range of difficulties during the pre-sale.

Fans are experiencing difficulties including given codes not working, queues being “temporarily paused” and 505 error messages.

“Guys the line isn’t moving because none of our codes are working so no one can check out and let you in lol,” one fan tweeted . “Looks like lines are officially paused while they fix it??? pls pray it works so we can get seats and so the rest of you can be let in because this SUCKS.”

Hell hath no fury like a Swiftie scorned as Ticketmaster crashes during the Eras tour presale

Stacey Ritzen

Taylor Swift fans who descended upon Ticketmaster in hopes to snag presale tickets for the singer’s highly anticipated upcoming Eras tour on Tuesday have unfortunately been met with unexpected website crashes and long queues.

Tickets officially go on sale on Nov. 18, however those who signed up in advance for Ticketmaster’s Verified Fan program, or happened to be a Capital One cardholder, were able to get early access on Nov. 15. A lot of good that did diehard Swifties, though, as fans who were actually able to load the website were notified that the queue had been paused, presumably while the company sorts out its technical difficulties, with over 2,000 people in front of them in most cases.

Because far be it from Ticketmaster to have actually anticipated a deluge in fans, and, you know, prepared accordingly. Not only is Swift’s new album Midnights the best-selling album of the year, but this marks her first tour since 2018. Of course this was going to happen.

Unfortunately, this is only the latest in a long string of public relations woes for the company, which has been under fire for years for its shady price gouging practices and adding deceptive processing fees to online tickets. In fact, the outcry for transparency from Ticketmaster reached a fever pitch earlier this year when the company was featured in a deep dive on Last Week Tonight with John Oliver — with the general takeaway being that congress needs to get involved and regulate the ticket-selling industry as a whole.

So it should come as no small surprise that livid fans took to social media to blast Ticketmaster for letting fans down once again. Sure, they might be willing to pay a premium for Taylor Swift tickets, but dealing with incompetency on the company’s part just adds insult to injury.

Many fans blasted the website for technical difficulties, because where are all those tacked-on fees going, if not to ensure that the very website doesn’t crash? (The answer is sadly in the pockets of Ticketmaster executives.)

Others raged about the seemingly never-ending queue, which was still “temporarily” paused at the time of this writing. “Where is Ticketmaster headquarters we’re bout to January 6th y’all,” quipped one user.

Well, with any luck, perhaps this latest kerfuffle will finally put Ticketmaster in the crosshairs of lawmakers who might finally do something about the company’s shady practices. Less in luck are Swifties who might attempt to score tickets once the tour officially opens up to the unwashed masses. If this is the presale, we can shudder to imagine what the sale is going to look like.

Ticketmaster was 'experiencing technical difficulties' and outage reports surged as presale started for Taylor Swift's Eras tour

  • Ticketmaster was experiencing technical difficulties on Tuesday as presale started for Taylor Swift's new tour.
  • Outage reports surged at Downdetector.com and some people took to Twitter to complain.
  • Swift's Eras tour, her first in five years, kicks off in 2023.

Insider Today

Some Taylor Swift fans weren't happy Tuesday morning.

Ticketmaster appeared to be crashing for some people hoping to snag tickets for Swift's upcoming Eras Tour, her first tour in five years.

The presale kicked off Tuesday at 10 am EST, and outage reports surged at Downdetector.com leading up to the presale, and continued after. Reports peaked at nearly 4,000 ahead of the presale start.

When Insider opened the app and visited the website's homepage, both appeared to be down. A message on the Ticketmaster app said "We apologize for the interruption" and "We are currently experiencing technical difficulties and our team is working to resolve this as soon as possible."

A message on the website said, "Something went wrong on our end and we need to start over. Broken things are a drag — our team is on it so it doesn't happen again."

Some people took to Twitter to voice their frustration, complaining that Ticketmaster was down for them or that they couldn't enter the "waiting room" despite receiving an email that they had been approved for the presale.

The Ticketmaster Fan Support twitter appeared to address the latter concern, tweeting on Tuesday: "If you received a code to the TaylorSwiftTix Presale, please login and access the queue through the link you received via text rather than entering through the Ticketmaster homepage. This will ensure an optimal shopping experience."

Some people responded that that wasn't working, either.

"i have my code and receive the same error when i use the link in the text message," one person responded.

In response to someone who said that they received an email without a code, Ticketmaster Fan Support said to DM the email address the person registered with.

Insider also observed some people tweeting that they were waiting in a line o f over 2,000 people in front of them.

Needless to say, demand is high for Swift's tour. After her latest album "Midnights" dropped last month, she became the first music artist in history to claim the entire top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100. It was Spotify's most-listened-to album in a single day.

Taylor Swift fans have been left frustrated after being met with an error message preventing them from buying tickets in the general sale for her latest tour. Tickets for the Wembley Stadium date for The Eras Tour 2024 went on sale on Ticketmaster and AXS at 11am this morning (July 17).

Fans had to register for an access code to be granted entry to the sale, however AXS customers say they have been met with an error page stopping them from accessing the sale, despite having a code. Many Swifties took to Twitter to voice their annoyance at the issue.

Some fans were able to enter the waiting room where it said the queue had been 'paused'. At time of writing, many music-lovers were still struggling to get tickets.

One fan said: "The stress of trying to get Taylor Swift tickets on AXS. Actual heart palps, unpause the queue."

Another wrote: "@AXS_UK what is going on?? Why is that queue paused??" A third Swiftie said: "Was totally unable to join the waiting room - how do I sort this before the next release of tickets??"

By 11.18pm, some fans reported the queue was moving again, after almost 20 minutes of "stress." MyLondon has reached out to AXS for comment.

Thousands of fans are trying to get Ticketmaster and AXS tickets for the Friday, June 21 2024 show. Later, at 1pm, another Wembley Stadium date will go on sale for the Thursday, August 15 2024 concert.

Taylor is performing 13 shows in the UK at Edinburgh, Liverpool, Cardiff, and London. There are three dates in June at Wembley and three more dates in August.

Demand is huge and ticket-selling sites have sent out access codes in a bid to prevent ticket scalpers entering the sales. Registration for access codes has now closed.

Tickets start at £58 for a seat and the most expensive VIP package is £662.40. Head to Ticketmaster or AXS for tickets.

Taylor Swift Is ‘Fired Up’ to Return to ‘Eras Tour’ After ‘The Tortured Poets Department’ Success

Taylor Swift Is Fired Up to Return to Eras Tour After ‘The Tortured Poets Department Success

Taylor Swift is just as excited as her fans to resume her Eras Tour , all thanks to the streaming success of The Tortured Poets Department.

“My mind is blown. I’m completely floored by the love you’ve shown this album,” Swift, 34, wrote via X on Sunday, April 27, sharing snaps from the TTPD recording process. “2.6 million ARE YOU ACTUALLY SERIOUS?? Thank you for listening, streaming, and welcoming Tortured Poets into your life. Feeling completely overwhelmed.”

She continued, “I was already so fired up to get back to the tour but you doing THIS?? May 9th can’t come soon enough.”

Swift released TTPD , her 11th studio album, on April 19 with plenty of tortured poetry about exes Joe Alwyn and Matty Healy , plus declarations of love for now-boyfriend Travis Kelce . The album dropped during Swift’s hiatus from The Eras Tour , which she started in March 2023 to celebrate all of her past records.

While there are sections for most of Swift’s iconic LPs (save for her self-titled debut) and a rotating surprise song part, it is not known if TTPD will make the setlist. Swift’s concert return is set for Thursday, May 9, in Paris before she traverses across Europe and the United Kingdom throughout the spring and summer. In the fall, Swift brings the stage shows back to North America.

Many Swifties do believe TTPD will get a designated Eras section based on a social media video that the pop star shared on Thursday, April 25. In the YouTube Short clip, Swift was seen rehearsing her tour choreography but fans did not recognize the moves from previous shows.

“Why do I feel like these are definitely rehearsal pics for TTPD songs ‘cause when have we ever had the dancers with hats and sticks,” a social media user wrote via X.

Other fans noticed that, at one point, Swift leaned on a railing that featured mystery white letters.

“That’s the TTPD logo on the railing,” one user pointed out via X. “Omg TTPD is getting her own set at The Eras Tour !”

Swift has not commented on the fan theories, but at each show she has mentioned how she’s loved being back on stage for the first time in four years. The summer Eras shows, however, will be bittersweet for the Grammy winner since she’ll be away from Kelce, 34.

Swift and Kelce, who have been dating since summer 2023, spent her tour hiatus together on the West Coast. (After downtime in Los Angeles, they jetted off to Las Vegas for the Saturday, April 27, charity auction hosted by Patrick Mahomes ’ nonprofit. Swift donated four tickets to Eras concerts in the United States.)

“[They have] deepened their bond,” the insider exclusively told Us Weekly earlier this month. “It makes the prospect of her tour more challenging. She’ll be sad, [but] they support and respect [each other]. They have busy careers, so they understand those commitments, as difficult as it is.”

Kelce is expected to attend some of Swift’s overseas shows, telling Entertainment Tonight in April that her London concerts at Wembley Stadium will surely be incredible.

Taylor Swift fans have been left devastated after technical issues on Ticketmaster stopped them from getting hold of pre-sale tickets to the pop superstar's upcoming Eras tour.

The highly anticipated sale of tickets took place on Tuesday morning as lucky fans who had received a code to use the company's Verified Fan program logged on to try and secure their seats.

However, many were soon venting their frustration and devastation on social media as the Ticketmaster site crashed before sales began and froze during transactions, leaving many unable to claim their tickets because of the ticketing site's 'screw up'.

One angry fan tweeted: 'Leave it to @Ticketmaster and @TMFanSupport to completely screw up the #TSTheErasTour #TSErasTour presale for @taylorswift13 and @taylornation13 . Sending broken codes and constant 500 errors. You KNEW this s**t would be big and you STILL screwed it up.'

Another wrote: 'F**k you ticketmaster I was about to check out my tickets for Taylor swift and you glitched and sent me to the very back of the que and now I’ll probably never get tickets. Thank you so much for not doing what you were literally designed to do.'

'Nevermind the fact that this @taylorswift13 ticket roll out was a complete disaster, the prices of these tickets are OUTRAGEOUS (if you can even get to the check out part),' one furious fan added.

Many continued to complain of not being able to access the site at all, while others faced a litany of issues including the website denying accounts are verified.

Some took to TikTok to plead for help from fellow music lovers as they were left in despair over the site's glitches.

User arieljann looked tearful in a clip she shared as she said: 'Can somebody help me? I did the verified pre-sale code ticket for Taylor Swift and when I tried to use the code it told me that the code wasn't linked to the sale.

'I did it over and over again, I went through the email and I made sure everything was right... I tried call Ticketmaster and I can't get through... I'm super bummed out, someone help.'

Ticketmaster also temporarily delayed the presale, while many fans online said the site still showed 2,000+ people ahead of them after hours in the seemingly unmoving virtual queue.

'Sorry for the inconvenience. It should be back up and running shortly. To keep your place in line, please don't refresh or close your browser,' the error message read.

The company added that fans should access the tickets through the link provided in the presale email sent on Monday, and not to try to access them through the Ticketmaster homepage.

One fan wrote: 'So has anyone actually got Taylor swift eras tour tickets? Or is everyone still in the death line on Ticketmaster? Asking for a friend…the friends me and I have 20 minutes until I freak out!'

Another joked: 'I would literally rather be in the hunger games & die at the end than be in this Ticketmaster waiting room, but here I am @taylorswift13'

Elsewhere, tweets from incensed social media users indicated they were unable to access the website to buy the tickets and their codes did not work and let them purchase.

One fan tweeted: 'I HAD 17 PEOPLE AHEAD OF ME IN QUEUE AND TICKETMASTER BOOTED ME OUT OF QUEUE IM GONNA SCREAM I HAVE TO WAIT FOR 2000 + PEOPLE AGAIN AHHH WTF #erastour #taylorswift #taylornation.'

Another raged: '@taylorswift13 @Ticketmaster @TMFanSupport I did everything i was supposed to do to become a verified fan, received my code, and got in the waiting room 30 mins early. Now it is saying im not a verified fan. PLEASE HELP

'#Ticketmaster - I had #taylorswift tickets IN my cart - I got a different error. 5 times. And then I got kicked out for trying too many times? Come on,' one annoyed fan added.

Another tweeted: '@Ticketmaster @TMFanSupport @taylorswift13 it is very frustrating trying to get tickets when you do everything as instructed and it won’t work. I have been verified, have a code and was selected and it won’t allow me to get tickets. Many people having the same problem. Advise.'

Those who were able to access the tickets on StubHub reported the lowest priced tickets hovered around $250 at some shows, while others, including at MetLife Stadium with Phoebe Bridgers, skyrocketed to over $12,600.

The Eras tour will have over 50 shows  and will feature joint performances with other stars including Phoebe Bridgers, Paramore and HAIM.

Swift has released four albums and re-recorded two albums since her last tour in 2018, which has driven fan excitement through the roof.

'No excuse for Ticketmaster. They have chosen to become this ridiculous monopoly & had months to prepare,' said one social media user.

'Ticketmaster' quickly trended on Twitter after people reported the site was down at around 9 am.

Even streaming giant Netflix joined in on the fun, and tweeted 'they're all waiting in a ticket queue right now' in response to a post about the Earth's population reaching 8 billion.

Swift's fans have complained of spending hours on Ticketmaster's website to buy tickets for her new tour, which kicks off in March and will travel to 20 cities across the U.S.

The cost of ticket sales for major artists' concerts have sky-rocketed of late - with the cost of entrance to many big stars' gigs going up by more than 1,000 per cent

Earlier this month, Swift said she was in 'shambles' when she tweeted about becoming the first artist in music history to claim the entire Top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart.

'10 out of 10 of the Hot 100???' tweeted the 32-year-old sensation. 'On my 10th album??? I AM IN SHAMBLES.'

The multi-platinum superstar has been taking pop culture by storm  with the blockbuster release of her 10th studio album called Midnights ever since it dropped on October 21.

The 32-year-old singer-songwriter recently added 17 shows to her already jam-packed schedule for next spring and summer.

Swift is starting the tour a day earlier than originally planned on March 17 in Arizona and ending it four days later than planned on August 9 in Los Angeles .

One fan even had to be rushed to the hospital with a collapsed lung after becoming too excited about the singer's tour announcement.

Karlee Kluck, 19, has been a die-hard 'Swiftie' for 16 years, so when sister Averee shared the latest tour news , she started to plan for what date she'd get tickets.

The day Karlee was told about the tour, she recalled how she spent the whole evening blasting her favorite Swift songs, singing and dancing along, when she noticed a sharp pain in her chest.

The following morning the pain increased, with Karlee finding it difficult to breathe, so her mom Vanessa took her to hospital where doctors delivered the shocking diagnosis.

Although the fan claims it was her excitement that caused her lung to collapse, according to medical experts, there was likely a pre-existing condition or trauma that caused the condition to occur.

Ticketmaster has faced criticism recently over the skyrocketing price of tickets to concerts, which is the result of its 'dynamic pricing' system.

The frequently-criticized program, which has been in place since 2011, allows the prices of 'platinum tickets' to fluctuate according to demand.

'Platinum tickets' can be located anywhere in the arena, meaning that even less desirable seats could leave fans with a large bill.

Ticketmaster claims the system give fans 'fair and safe access' to in-demand tickets with its FAQ page explaining: 'The prices are adjusted according to supply and demand, similar to how airline tickets and hotel rooms are sold.

'The goal is to give the most passionate fans fair and safe access to the most in-demand tickets while allowing the artists and everyone involved in staging live events to price tickets closer to their fair value.'

However, 'dynamic pricing' seems to have caused nothing but headaches for the fans of music’s most popular acts like Taylor Swift, My Chemical Romance and Drake, with their tour prices surging by hundreds, if not thousands of dollars in recent years.

Taylor Swift is excited to get back on the road and reunite with her fans when she resumes her Eras Tour.

After discovering her new album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” sold 2.6 million units in its first week, she took to social media to admit her “mind is blown.”

“I’m completely floored by the love you’ve shown this album,” the 34-year-old singer wrote on X and Instagram Sunday while sharing photos from the recording process.

The album dropped during Swift’s hiatus from The Eras Tour, which she kicked off in March 2023 to celebrate all of her past albums.

While it remains unclear whether she’ll add songs from “TTPD” to her three-hour setlist, Swift will return to the stage on May 9 in Paris. She’ll then travel throughout Europe and the United Kingdom during the summer before returning to North America for several concerts in the fall.

The upcoming Eras Tour shows will be bittersweet for the singer, however, as she’ll be away from Kelce, 34.

“It makes the prospect of her tour more challenging. She’ll be sad,” the insider claimed.

Still, the couple, who  went public  with their romance in September 2023, know that work is a top priority of theirs.

“They support and respect [each other],” Us Weekly’s source also said.

“They have busy careers, so they understand those commitments, as difficult as it is.”

Since Swift’s  last international show in Singapore  in March, she and Kelce have been spotted on several outings together.

Not only were they spotted on a  romantic vacation in the Bahamas last month, but they attended Coachella  just a few weeks ago before attending a gala in Las Vegas over the weekend .

Kelce also previously admitted that he will be  traveling to Europe  to support Swift at a few of her shows, so they won’t be apart for too long.

“Oh, you know I gotta go support,” he told “Entertainment Tonight” earlier this month when asked if he would be “packing [his] bags” soon.

“I think we both love what we do and any chance that I can show my support to her — knowing that she has shown me all the support in the world throughout the [NFL] season — it’s just been an amazing experience getting to know Tay.”

Taylor Swift is Reportedly "Sad" to Start Touring Again After Spending Time with Travis Kelce

A fter spending some quality one-on-one time with her boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, Taylor Swift is reportedly "sad" to be returning to her history-making "Eras Tour."

According to sources who spoke exclusively to US Weekly , the famous couple have "deepened their bond" as a result of "all the time they've spent together recently."

“It makes the prospect of her tour more challenging," the source told the publication. "She’ll be sad."

Swift will be in Paris, France on May, 9, 2024, to kick off one of four shows in the "city of love" as she begins the European leg of the "Eras Tour." The hit band Paramore will join the pop star on stage, according to Swift's website .

The same source says that while Swift will be "sad" to start touring and spending time away from Kelce, the pair understands that they have professional obligations.

“They support and respect (each other),” the source told the publication. “They have busy careers, so they understand those commitments, as difficult as it is.”

In the wake of the release of Swift's eleventh studio album, The Tortured Poets Department —a surprise double feature with an additional 15 songs —the pair reportedly celebrated her incredible accomplishment with some much-deserved one-on-one time before hanging out with another famous couple.

The source told US Weekly the pair took "a trip up the California cost" to "celebrate privately," adding that "they're making the most of the time they have together."

Swift and Kelce were spotted with Bradley Cooper and Gigi Hadid during their California getaway at Carmel-by-the-Sea, which comes as no surprise to those who know Swift—Hadid and Swift are long-time BFFs.

Kelce reportedly sent a picture of the foursome to his beloved mom, Donna Kelce, who shared the photo at QVC's Age of Possibility Summit in Las Vegas, Nevada. Cooper was also in attendance, and when he arrived Donna reportedly greeted him by saying: "Travis told me you were going to be here."

According to a recent report by Page Six , Swift is very much in love with Travis but is "getting nervous about things going wrong—or that he’ll wind up thinking the fame is too much."

"She wants a happy ending with Travis," the source told the publication. "She is worried about jinxing things" and that "something will mess things up."

While Swift's fears are certainly valid given the constant and overwhelming media scrutiny she faces day in and day out, in a recent interview with Extra Kelce said he is pretty much unfazed by the never-ending spotlight on his relationship.

“I think it was all the home videos my mom used to have with the old camcorder, the handheld joint, at the house. I just always felt comfortable with the camera on me and the lights on me," Kelce said.

"I love a good challenge. I get excited for a challenge. Something that I haven't done before is something that really makes me focus," he continued. "And there's something about that that I got a love for."

'Taylor Swift' bills would crack down on bot ticket purchases, inflated resale prices

taylor swift tour queue paused

Lansing — Michigan lawmakers on Wednesday introduced bills to crack down on the use of automated software programs snarling concert ticket sales and driving up prices for big name performers.

The legislation is similar to the so-called “Taylor Swift” laws recently passed in Arizona after tickets were gobbled up for Swift's Eras concert tour by automated bots that later resold the tickets for higher prices.

While there are laws at the federal level preventing the practice, they are rarely enforced, said GOP state Rep. Graham Filler, who sponsored the legislation with Rep. Mike McFall, D-Hazel Park.

“I’m trying to make Michigan a really unattractive state for these bots to do business,” Filler said. “It’s unfair to people, it’s anti-competitive, anti-capitalist, it’s anti-consumer.”

It's not clear that Michigan concerts have been plagued by the same problems seen in Arizona, but Filler and McFall said they want to take a proactive approach to prevent against a similar event.

The Event Online Ticket Sales Act would prohibit an automated software application from creating multiple IP addresses, email addresses or accounts to buy up tickets for an event that exceed the posted ticket limit. The entertainment events protected by the act include theater performances, concerts, exhibitions or sporting events that are open to the public.

The legislation also would prevent individuals from using software to disable a ticket seller's security measure or circumvent a waiting period, electronic queue or other sales volume limitation programs.

Violations of the act would be investigated by the attorney general and would be punishable by a civil fine of up to $5,000 per ticket. The attorney general also could seek to recover restitution.

“Michiganders are tired of these scalping bots who purchase and hoard tickets for resale, often pricing them out of reach for many hardworking families,” McFall said in a statement Wednesday.

The introduction of the legislation comes more than three years after the Michigan Legislature voted to repeal a 1931 ban on ticket scalping.

The 2020 law — passed after roughly six years of debate — repealed a state ban that was rarely enforced and left the door open to bad actor ticket scalpers who never had a ticket in the first place.

The repeal allowed individuals and businesses to scalp tickets so long as the businesses’ names and websites did not resemble the venue or event for which the tickets are sold. Ticket sellers, under the 2020 law, must have the ticket in their possession at the time of sale or inform the purchaser if he or she does not have the ticket 48 hours ahead of the event.

The legislation at that time prohibited the practice of using “ticketing bot” software, making it subject to a 93-day misdemeanor and/or $1,000 fine.

The legislation introduced Wednesday differs because it allows the attorney general to bring a civil action, not a criminal one, with a higher fine of $5,000 per ticket.

Taylor Swift's YouTube compilation for her new lead single "Fortnight" highlights many moments from the singer's personal life, including an adorable kitchen kiss from boyfriend Travis Kelce .

But there's another romantic moment between them later in the video, and if you blink you might miss it.

Back in March, Swift performed six concerts in Singapore as part of her globe-spanning Eras Tour .

Kelce joined Swift for two shows at National Stadium, and was even seen dancing  to her hit "Look What You Made Me Do."

Between shows, the couple took in the local attractions, including the Supertree Grove, part of the world famous Gardens by the Bay.

In the YouTube compilation, there's a fleeting shot of one of the grove's giant illuminated trees. But sharp-eyed and quick-fingered viewers who pause the video will see Swift and Kelce standing hand-in-hand at the base of the tree, bathed in its glowing green light.

If the Supertree Grove looks familiar, it's because it was the backdrop for the lavish wedding reception in the 2018 blockbuster Crazy Rich Asians .

The Eras Tour will resume in May with its European leg. Concerts are slated through the late spring/ summer in Portugal, England, Poland and Austria before returning to the United States in October.
