Gorillaz is a British pop band created in 1998 in London, England, as the creative brainchild of musician Damon Albarn and graphic artist Jamie Hewlett. The band consists entirely of fictional members, with Albarn and various guests creating the band’s music.

The fictional band members are Murdoc Niccals, 2-D, Noodle, and Russel Hobbs. They are represented in music videos and concerts in cartoons illustrated by Hewlett.

Gorillaz is a pop band with a distinctive sound. Its musical style combines synth-pop, alternative rock, hip-hop, electronic, trip-hop, and dark pop. Albarn credits various and diverse artists as significant influences. Some of the better-known influences include Massive Attack, Public Image Ltd, Tom Tom Club, Fun Boy Three, and Unkle. Influences for the animated band members include Glitch Techs, The Amazing World of Gumball, and Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Gorillaz is known for collaborating with many prominent artists such as Elton John, Georgia, Popcaan, and Mavis Staples. This one-of-a-kind group has influenced a bevy of artists since it burst onto the music scene, including 5 Seconds of Summer, AWOLNATION, Paramore, Grimes, and Kesha.

Gorillaz has grossed over 27 million records worldwide and won a Grammy as well as multiple MTV Video Music Awards. The group has also been nominated for 11 Brit Awards and won Best British Group at the 2018 Brit Awards. Gorillaz also holds the distinction of being the Most Successful Virtual Band in the Guinness World Records.

From 1998 to 2000, Albarn worked on the band’s self-titled first album, Gorillaz, which dropped in 2001. The first song release was “Tomorrow Comes Today,” and the music video for the song marked the world’s introduction to the virtual band members. Overall, the album was a smash, both commercially and critically.

The aforementioned second album, Demon Days, followed in 2005. The album marked a shift in the band’s sound into the darker approach to pop that made it famous. Demon Days was its most successful studio effort to date. It went double platinum in the U.S. and contained the ubiquitous and widely popular single “Feel Good Inc.”

In 2006, the band penned an “autobiographical” book titled Rise of the Ogre that expanded on the universe and backstories of the fictional band members.

Gorillaz’s third album, Plastic Beach, hit the market in 2010. The environmentally themed album featured a new synth-pop sound and a lineup of featured guest artists.

The Fall, the band’s fourth album, also released in 2010. The album was largely recorded while Alban was traveling during the band’s Escape to Plastic Beach Tour.

The band’s fifth studio effort, Humanz, dropped in April 2017 after a lengthy hiatus. The album debuted at number two on the U.S. Billboard 200 and received positive reviews from fans and critics.

The sixth album, The Now Now, was released in 2018 and presented a more stripped-down version of the band’s signature sound, concentrating on Albarn’s original music instead of guest artists.

Gorillaz’ launched a new web series project titled Song Machine. The series of episodes featured music videos of the band with musical singles. After the series concluded, the band compiled each song to create its seventh studio album, Song Machine, Season One: Strange Timez, in 2020.

Throughout 2022, Gorillaz was on tour in South America, Europe, Australia, and North America. Throughout the Gorillaz tour, the band released new music promoting its upcoming eighth album, Cracker Island, scheduled for release in 2023.

Live reviews

By far the best concert I’ve ever been to. The openers (Vince Staples and Danny Brown) were just as fantastic as Gorillaz themselves. (though they are apart of Gorillaz) But when Gorillaz got onstage, it absolutely blew my mind. Most of the instrumentation for their live shows is just that, LIVE. It’s an extremely impressive feat, and you’ll appreciate parts of their music you’ve never thought of. Best example of this is their back up singers, who, in my humble belief, went above and beyond. In the final few songs, you could have convinced me I was in the middle of a gospel song at church. Not to mention ALL their features, who have amazing singing talent in their own right.

Now, I must confess, I was extremely worried about this concert. I thought it would be Humanz, through and through, with some throwbacks - which had me worried as 1. Humanz is maybe their least liked album as of now 2. I also had some personal gripes with it. Wrong. 100%. They certainly didn’t, but it felt like they played their whole discography. I legitimately was RELIEVED when they played songs from Humanz. They even played some of the stuff from their ‘Super Deluxe’, spesifically Garage Palace feat. Little Sims - which no one in there had ever heard before - that was the biggest highlight for me. She just jumped onstage and said 1000 words in 10 seconds and danced around like it was nothing. Absolutely insane. They closed off, like u mentioned earlier, with Demon Days and the hits from Demon Days. Had De La Soul come onstage a SECOND time for the biggest hit. This was by far the best concert I’ve ever been to.

I love the Gorillaz. They are pretty much the most exciting and original band out there right now. Even in their live concerts, they stick with their cartoon characters. Imagine a massive screen towering over the stage, with huge silhouettes of the characters (2-D, Murdoc, Noodle, and Russel), as the music starts and the lights come up, they suddenly come to life – and you can just about see the actual band underneath on stage.

The whole show has a cartoon animation version, where the "band" plays along with the music as if they're playing it. Meanwhile, Damon Albarn (from Blur) is the one who's really singing the songs. You'll almost certainly recognize their song "Clint Eastwood" – in fact, when I saw them at Glastonbury festival in 2010, Albarn hardly sang – the crowd knew all the words! "I ain't happy, I'm feeling glad, I got sunshine in a bag, I'm useless but not for long the future is comin' on..."

Also, I have no idea what that instrument he uses is- the flute with a keyboard on it- but it has such a unique sound that I just can't get over! Then all of a sudden SNOOP DOG is on stage, completely out of nowhere! He's rapping along with the song, we're going wild and screaming and singing along, everyone is excited. Albarn really pulled his weight next to Snoop, and more. And the images on the screen flashing by just completed the image, like watching the perfect music video with all the benefits of live music.

I almost missed their performance that year, and I am SO glad I didn't! I hope they keep touring, I'd go see their shows every week if I could. I can't wait until next time!

This was my first time seeing the Gorillaz ever (although I've been a fan since 2001 life always happened and couldn't see them before) but concert wise, it was the best show I've ever seen. I'm not too sure I'll ever go to Merriweather again. Because all horrible puns intended when the weather ain't merry, it isn't a place you wanna be. Parking and traffic are also a nightmare. Uber if you ever go to Merriweather. During the VIP set we were kicked out of the pavillan which I'm assuming because it was storming. And we were left to our own devices seeking shelter from the rain. (I brought an umbrella so I was some what dry. Seeing the Gorillaz was worth the lighting risk lmao). The show itself was amazing. The Gorillaz really know how to perform a live set. Dare I say better than other "more popular" bands I've seen. Damon has a tonne of energy as do the rest of the performers. There was such a connection between the fans even if there was a vast range of various demographics. We were all Humanz and that's the whole point of the Gorillaz. I LOVED it. Lost my voice screaming the lyrics back. I would definitely recommend that anyone who likes the Gorillaz see them when they can. It's worth every penny, getting rained on, sweltering in the sun, all of it.

In general the show was awesome! The atmosphere was incredible and I feel that the band had really put everything they've got into the show.

The only thing that really bothered me was the security. Since the arena was devided into three sections: the fan pit, the parter and the sitting area (where I was) and the ticket prices were different for each of them it was understandable that they didn't allow the fans to cross between them but the thing that was absolutely insane was the fact that they didn't let us (people in the sitting area) dance!? Like seriously it's a concert! They took it as far as beating up a man and escorted him out just for DANCING ON A FREAKING CONCERT!? LIKE WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK!?

Even with jerks for security like that I really enjoyed the show and in general I'm more than happy that I was a small part of it!

Gorillaz was the first time in austria but it felt like they know the austrian stage for years.

It was such a great concert, Damon Albarn gave all his energy for the crowd, the instrumentalists, the backround singers, everyone was just great.

The songs sound live in concert much better than on CD, vinyl or mp3 and it is hard to believe that Damons voice really sounds like this. I was standing in the wavebraker and the atmosphere was just perfect, espicially when songs like “Tomorrow comes today“ or “Kids with guns“ are played.

The show was also perfect, sometimes they showed the videos from youtube, sometimes completley new videos which i have not seen before.

To conclude, it was a really great concert and a mustsee for every gorillaz fan because how often can you see them live ;)

The bassist is such a super chill beyond cool guy. Straight up champs him and the guitarist. Damon was legendary, as expected. Personal shoutout to the lady that climbed up to the catwalk to work the lights over the stage, some thought she couldn't make it, but we believed.

The show was absolutely STELLAR!! Great crowd and even greater stage presence. The background vocalists really did an amazing job, especially memorable when one stepped out to perform on Kids With Guns. The crowd went wild, but that was to be expected. Everyone was roaring in excitement when the various guests came to do their parts in Dirty Harry, Hollywood, etc. Nothing compared to Feel Good Inc, though, I was scared the roof would cave in from the in unison laughter.

Smasung hall is a great spacious venue with the most amazing sound quality, my husband and I were very impressed and are looking forward to coming back.

The Gorillaz put on a great show, with the videos, the lights and the synced singing, it's really worth it.

We were a little disappointed about the type of songs, more british rock, less hip hop as the original Gorillaz were, but I guess that's the new album.

Damon Albarn however is a terrible front man, or he seemed to be at least in Zurich. Never interacted with the public, hardly talked or tried to get the us involved or dancing nor singing.

Opening act Little Simz was amazing!

An amazing concert and wish we could go again amazing atmosphere and was surprised to see some artists we weren't expecting like Liam Gallagher wish the set could of been longer as both me and my fiancé have been waiting for over 10 years to see Gorillaz and would love to hear more songs live next time Gorillaz are live we will definitely be going. We also managed to park up in the hotel which was a 15 minute walk from the stadium and drove away with no issues. Will definitely be attending another Gorillaz concert and with hopefully more money next time as there were things we wanted but couldn't afford lol

Gorillaz Humanz World Tour was undoubtedly one of the most anticipated shows by Chilean fans. It was an unparalleled performance, with a wonderful staging, in which each song described the story of the Gorillaz characters including songs like "19-2000" "Clint Eastwood" "Feel Good Inc" going through "Saturnz Barz", until a new single called "Hollywood". The way in which the group plays with the different rhythms and visuals creates a unique atmosphere, full of energy, which made vibrate from the youngest to the most adult of the fans of this band.

Without a doubt, a show that you can not miss.

This was the first concert that I have ever gone to and I'm not gonna lie, this was an amazing experience. The opening started off with 'The Internet' for about an hour, but then it went over to the band everyone was there for, 'Gorillaz. They played some of the songs everyone liked and all the fans joined in on helping them add more emotions to the song. Also, the live portion of the concert was what made it so good because it was rawer than the online songs which made it better because you get to hear what the artists put into each song for each song.

Damon Albarn teases new Gorillaz album: ‘It will be an entirely different approach to everything’

Connor Gotto

Steve Gullick

Damon Albarn is switching things up on the next Gorillaz album.

The hitmaker may be immersed in all things Blur ahead of the release of the band’s latest album, ‘The Ballad Of Darren’, and European tour dates, but behind the scenes he’s already masterminding his next project.

Damon Albarn slams Coachella crowd’s lacklustre reaction to Blur performance: ‘You’re never seeing us again’

Speaking on the ‘ Broken Record ’ podcast, the Girls & Boys singer revealed he and Jamie Hewlett are already busy on the follow-up to 2023’s ‘Cracker Island’.

“I’ve done a few tunes. It’s not going to be as dramatic as a quantum shift, it will be a paradigm shift, it will be very different,” he shared. “It will be an entirely different approach to everything — to the band, to everything.

“We’re at a point where we’re going to change. Why? Because it was always just Jamie and I. Although it is a very big thing now, it is still, in essence, just two people.

“If we decided between us that we want to do something unrecognisable then we will. You need that for it to stay alive, really.”

He’s also working on an opera, putting 1807’s ‘The Magic Flute Part II’ by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe – the sequel to Mozart’s ‘Magic Flute’ – to music for the first time.

“I’m doing an opera at the moment, using Goethe’s fragment he wrote about The Magic Flute Part II, which is fascinating,” continued to Parklife star. “You’ve heard of Mozart’s ‘Magic Flute’? Well, Goethe, who is a contemporary of Mozart, wrote ‘Part II’ of that — the sequel — but it never got put to music.

“It’s this legendary lost thing… [But] I don’t really know what I’m doing. I never know what I’m doing in that world, I’m a complete idiot. I don’t know if it’s any good.”

The band – also starring Damon Albarn, Graham Coxon and Alex James – is set to perform a run of shows across Europe throughout the summer in support of their new album , which the frontman describes as “an aftershock record” and a “reflection and comment on where we find ourselves now”.

“The older and madder we get, it becomes more essential that what we play is loaded with the right emotion and intention. Sometimes just a riff doesn’t do the job,” adds Graham.

Bassist Alex notes that “for any long term relationship to last with any meaning you have to be able to surprise each other somehow and somehow we all continue to do that,” while Dave admits their reunion only feels “natural”.

“With every record we do, the process reveals something new and we develop as a band. We don’t take that for granted,” he explains.

The artwork for the album features an image of Gourock lido in Renfrewshire by British photographer Martin Parr.

'Giggly Squad Podcast' co-hosts Paige DeSorbo (L) and Hannah Berner pose on the red carpet.

Put your headphones down, Gigglers.

From September through December, Hannah Berner and Paige DeSorbo are taking their popular “Giggly Squad” podcast on tour to auditoriums, performing arts centers, theaters, memorial halls and casinos all over the U.S. and Canada.

New Yorkers and New Jerseyans are in luck, too.

The laugh-a-minute ladies will bring the ‘Club Giggly Tour’ to Newark, NJ’s New Jersey Performing Arts Center for a pair of shows on Sunday, Oct. 20 and a one-off at Troy, NY’s Troy Savings Music Hall on Wednesday, Dec. 4.

And even though the duo has toured before, they promise this time around won’t be the same as their last run of Giggly gigs.

“It’s definitely a brand new show,” DeSorbo told Cosmopolitan . “Still the same Giggler energy. We have so many more inside jokes with our listeners now and I feel like we know them even better now, so it will be even more personalized.”

If you’ve never heard their self-described “show about nothing” — based on the premise “What if we record our Facetime sessions to share with the world?” — Berner sums up what makes the ‘Giggly Squad’ stand out.

“I really do feel like the podcast is like a girls’ bathroom at a club. The girls’ bathroom is such a special beautiful, hilarious place, but also an emotional safe space. We’ve kind of created this like, secret, like bathroom humor.”

They also chat about “pop culture, fashion trends, television, horoscopes, mental health, dating, and expose their personal lives,” according to the show’s description on Spotify.

Need tickets today?

We’re here to help make that happen.

With a starry schedule that included the likes of Post Malone , Red Hot Chili Peppers , and Mötley Crüe , it’ll be tricky for 2024’s schedule to outdo its predecessor – and yet, thanks to the likes of Taylor Swift , Blink-182 and Pink , plus Coldplay, Pearl Jam and SZA, it’s poised to do just that.

From debut headline shows for breakout artists to bustling festival sideshow programs, there’s something for everyone to enjoy as a stellar batch of musicians make their way Down Under in 2024. Read on for NME’s roundup of all the biggest concerts and tours coming to Australia this year.

Besides her eye-catching sets, chart-topping songs, and impressive choreography, concertgoers also get a glimpse of the performer's fantastic costumes, which include looks from Versace and Jean Paul Gaultier.

Record Store Day 2024 – the full list, plus five essential albums to pick up

Fleetwood Mac, Black Sabbath, and more

Someone taking a vinyl record out of the sleeve

Our top picks

  • The full list

Record Store Day 2024 is one the most anticipated events for any music fan, and there’s no doubt that eager vinyl record collectors have been preparing for this day since the full Record Store Day list was dropped in February.

records

Record Store Day dates back to 2007, when a small team of US indie record store owners got together to give vinyl a then much-needed injection of publicity. Now a global annual event, 'RSD' sees a range of special edition record pressings go on sale at record stores – though this year a Discogs partnership will also let you buy some of the vinyl online after the event. Want the full list of this year's special edition releases? Head to the Record Store Day website or go to the full list at the end of this page. But only once you've checked out our pick of the highlights...

The event takes place on Saturday April 20 and will see music fans around the world flocking to their local record shops to score exclusive pressings and region-specific LPs. And with Discogs’ partnership with Record Store Day , you’ll have two chances to partake in this year’s event.

Despite the queen of vinyl variants, Taylor Swift, not making an appearance in this year’s list, there’s a plethora of other albums, soundtracks, and live recordings that will be available as limited editions. But a word of caution; most record stores work on a first come first serve basis, so it’s wise to check your local store’s opening times and plan to queue accordingly.

To celebrate one of the most exciting days in music, I’ve compiled a list of five albums from this year’s Record Store Day list that are essential for any music lover’s library. Not only are these albums great from beginning to end, but they’ve each had a significant impact on fans and culture alike...

Rumours, Fleetwood Mac (1977)

Fleetwood Mac Rumours picture disc for record store day

  • Format: LP Picture Disc / 7,500 copies

Rumours was the second album I bought on vinyl after Lorde’s Pure Heroine, not because I was a huge Fleetwood Mac fan at the time, but because it’s an album I knew was quintessential to any collection.

This album was conceived at a time when the band’s members couldn’t bear to be in the same room as each other. Love complications between Stevie Nicks and Lindsay Buckingham served as one of the driving forces behind the album’s brutally honest lyricism in songs like Dreams and Second Hand News , alongside John and Christine McVie's divorce.

Its raw emotion is the reason why it’s still loved by music fans nearly 50 years after its release, and at Record Store Day 2024, it’s being released once again but in picture disc format.

Live at SoFi Stadium, The Weeknd (2023)

A Record Store Day 2024 pressing on Live at SoFi Stadium by The Weeknd (2023)

  • Format: 3 x LPs / 7,500 copies

Dawn FM was one of the most memorable albums of 2022, but it was The Weeknd’s sold-out After Hours til Dawn stadium tour that showed his powerhouse status.

Live albums can be hit or miss, depending on how the artist plays around with the arrangement of their studio songs – but Live at SoFi Stadium is a live album I find myself reverting back to now and then. Not only is the setlist packed with catchy oldies like The Hills and Wicked Games , but its songs like Sacrifice that show how hard a song can hit when played live. That’s all down to its responsive bass and elongated intro that perfectly builds suspension before the beat drops.

Paranoid, Black Sabbath (1970)

The Record Store Day 2024 pressing of Black Sabbath's Paranoid

  • Format: LP / 4,000 copies

The oldest entry in our list comes from Black Sabbath and their second studio album Paranoid , which is regarded as one of the most influential albums in heavy metal. And it’s back for Record Store Day 2024, over 50 years since its release on a vibrant pink splatter vinyl.

Much like Rumours , Black Sabbath’s Paranoid has cemented itself as a vinyl record staple but for its own reasons – one being that it set the gold standard for the heavy metal genre. It houses several of Black Sabbath’s most credited singles from the title track, to Iron Man and War Pigs , which still make for great additions to blockbuster movie soundtracks.

Tough Love, Jessie Ware (2014)

Jessie Ware Tough Love white Record Store Day pressing

While I lean more towards Ware’s neo-disco and funk records What’s Your Pleasure? (2020) and That! Feels Good (2023), those albums would not exist if it weren’t for her early work.

The production on Tough Love is very early-to-mid 2010s coded, but the subtlety of funky bass guitars and string accompaniments hint at the direction Jessie Ware has been headed all this time. For Record Store Day 2024, Ware brings you the 10th anniversary edition of the album, featuring 2 LPs pressed on solid white vinyl with bonus tracks.

Cracker Island, Gorillaz (2023)

Gorillaz Cracker Island pink Record Store Day pressing

  • Format: 2 x LP / 8,500 copies

2023 didn’t live up to the albums that 2022 gave us, but Gorillaz’s eighth studio album Cracker Island was one of my saving graces that year – after Lana Del Rey and Caroline Polacheck, of course.

Cracker Island is very much an ‘LA-themed’ album, with topics such as technology, influencer culture, and the internet building the foundation of the album’s message. But it’s the album’s features that make it a stand-out record, one that invites the musical influences of funkier artists like Thundercat and Tame Impala, not to forget the legendary Stevie Nicks on one of my favorite songs, Oil.

The deluxe edition of Cracker Island is out this Record Store Day, with six additional tracks and alternative cover art pressed on pink and magenta vinyl.

Moscow Metro

The Moscow Metro Tour is included in most guided tours’ itineraries. Opened in 1935, under Stalin’s regime, the metro was not only meant to solve transport problems, but also was hailed as “a people’s palace”. Every station you will see during your Moscow metro tour looks like a palace room. There are bright paintings, mosaics, stained glass, bronze statues… Our Moscow metro tour includes the most impressive stations best architects and designers worked at - Ploshchad Revolutsii, Mayakovskaya, Komsomolskaya, Kievskaya, Novoslobodskaya and some others.

What is the kremlin in russia?

The guide will not only help you navigate the metro, but will also provide you with fascinating background tales for the images you see and a history of each station.

And there some stories to be told during the Moscow metro tour! The deepest station - Park Pobedy - is 84 metres under the ground with the world longest escalator of 140 meters. Parts of the so-called Metro-2, a secret strategic system of underground tunnels, was used for its construction.

During the Second World War the metro itself became a strategic asset: it was turned into the city's biggest bomb-shelter and one of the stations even became a library. 217 children were born here in 1941-1942! The metro is the most effective means of transport in the capital.

There are almost 200 stations 196 at the moment and trains run every 90 seconds! The guide of your Moscow metro tour can explain to you how to buy tickets and find your way if you plan to get around by yourself.

Moscow metro tour: architectural styles of the subway.

the gorillaz tour 2024

Duration: 2 hours

Categories: Culture & History, Sightseeing

This metro tour of Russia’s capital and most populous city, Moscow, is your chance to get a unique insight into the beautiful and impressive architecture of the city's underground stations. Admire their marble walls and high ceilings representing Stalin's desire for glory after World War 2, and see first-hand how the interiors change with the rise of new political eras. Your guide will lead you through the complex network, which is one of the most heavily used rapid transit systems worldwide, with over two billion travelers in 2011.

Opened in 1935, Moscow’s underground system, now 190 miles (305 km) long with 185 stations, is today one the largest and most heavily used rapid transit systems in the world. On this Moscow metro tour, discover the impressive architecture of Moscow’s underground stations and learn how they reflect the Soviet era.

Getting around by metro, your local guide will take you through parts of Moscow’s infamous history. Stop at stations built during the time of the USSR (Soviet Union) that are praised as one of the most extravagant architectural projects from Stalin’s time. After World War 2, he was keen on establishing Stalinist architecture to represent his rising regime and a recognized empire. Learn how when his successor started the de-Stalinization of the former Soviet Union in 1953, the extravagancy of the architecture was toned down.

Discover how the unique character of each station reflected several different eras. While stations like Kievskaya and Slavyansky Bulvar have pompous halls and high stucco ceilings brimming with extravagant decorations, those built later, like Volzhskaya, are lightly adorned with sparse furnishings. Architect Alexey Dushkin and painter Alexander Deyneka were just two of the many artists who made these magnificent landmarks possible.

Revel in Moscow's glory days, as well as the years of scarcity, on this fascinating Moscow metro experience. Conclude your tour at one of the central stations in Moscow. If you're lucky, you may even find the secret entrance to the unconfirmed Metro-2, a parallel underground system used by the government -- a mystery which has neither been denied nor confirmed today.

Culture Shock Rating

We have a wide range of tours designed to give you an insight into the destination you're travelling in and there is something for everybody. The culture shock ratings considers the destination visited, transport used, activities undertaken and that "Wow, I'm really not at home now!" factor. While generalisations are always tricky, a summary of our gradings is as follows…

This is the least confronting of our tour range. Transport used on the trip is either private or a very comfortable public option, the activities included are usually iconic sites and locations that are not all too confronting.

The tour can include a mix of private and public transport providing a level of comfort that is slightly below what you would experience at home. Sites visited are usually iconic sites, tours can also include market visits, visits to communities etc that provide the traveller with a fantastic insight into destination.

Expect to rough it for parts of this tour, whether it's a packed public bus where you are forced to stand, a visit to a local market, a local community, you are sure to have an experience that is very different from what you're used to at home.

The comforts of your home town and the environment you are used to are more of a rarity. Expect some challenging transport options, visits to local sites and areas that don't resemble anything at home.

You're out there in the global community! You are likely to be exposed to the elements, travel in whatever means of transport is available and basically take it as it comes, whatever comes! It can be tough.

Physical Rating

Our physical rating gives you an idea of how much huffing and puffing you can expect on the tour. While generalisations are always tricky, a summary of our gradings is as follows…

These tours have very limited physical activity. Usually climbing in and out of the transport provided, walking through sites, markets etc included in the itinerary.

These tours have a bit of physical activity but nothing that should challenge you too much. This could be climbing on and off public transport through to a walk through the destination you're travelling in, they can include walking only tours or a combination of walking and transport.

These tours involve a bit of physical activity from walking up and down hills in the destination you're travelling in or the surrounding areas. Climbing on and off local transport or riding a bike up to 30 kms along predominantly flat terrain or jumping in a kayak for a gentle paddle on flat water.

These Tours will provide you with some solid physical activity. Whether its bike riding, walking, trekking, kayaking or riding on public transport you will need to have a good level of fitness to enjoy this tour.

Be prepared for some serious physical activity. These tours are our most challenging and involve some serious walking, hiking or bike riding. Can involve step climbs by foot or pedal and some challenging public transport options in the destination you are travelling.

Luxury Rating

Some trips are like a stroll on the beach, while others have you trekking alpine passes. Some of you thrive on camping out on the savannah, while others may prefer a hot shower and a comfortable bed in a lodge. Follow the grading systems below to find the right trip for you.

To help you choose the trip that's right for you, we've broken all of our trips down into four service levels. Measuring the comfort level of the accommodation and transport. So whether you're travelling on a budget and want to save money by using public transport, or prefer upgraded accommodation and are happy to pay a little more, then we have a level for you.

Imagine Dragons’ Dan Reynolds talks new album ‘Loom’ — ‘Heavy concepts but playful at the same time’

NEW YORK (AP) — The ambiguity of Imagine Dragons’ next album starts from the cover.

Two figures stand in the distance separated by a dawning sun. Or is it setting? Lead singer and songwriter Dan Reynolds , who dreamed it up, sees it both ways.

“You can’t really tell if it’s a sunset or a sunrise, and then there are two people kind of separated standing in front of it. That really kind of sums it up thematically when I listen to it,” he tells The Associated Press.

“Is the beginning of something new, or is this the end of something? And the sunset and the sunrise always kind of feels that way to me. It could be either/or.”

From the paranoid, slightly demented hip-hop-rock opening song “Wake Up” — with Reynolds singing: “Everybody’s coming for you/Wake up!” — to the strummy, swaying “Take Me to the Beach,” it’s clear the nine-track album called “Loom” isn’t one thing. The album comes out June 28.

It’s the first album since Reynolds’ divorce from musician Aja Volkman and there are songs about moving on — the sunny flirtatious “Nice to Meet Ya” — but also looking behind, like the bittersweet “In Your Corner” — “You turned your back/And now we’re here” — and “Don’t Forget Me,” with the lyrics “Guess we got lost in the light.”

“I just start creating and whatever comes out is what it is. That’s how I’ve been since I was 12. I try not to overthink it,” says Reynolds. “It’s just an honest output sonically, lyrically of how I’m feeling in the moment.”

For the driving, anthemic “Kid,” Reynolds says he came into the studio with his life a little chaotic. He just spoke words that he was feeling over a drum loop: “You got to get yourself together, kid/You got to get it together.” Then the band started building. The song, inspired by the ’90s music he loves, like by Gorillaz, became an exhortation for America, so adding a choir made sense.

“We had a lot of fun creating that one in the studio. I love the juxtaposition of things that are kind of tongue-in-cheek, but also maybe dark,” he says. “Heavy concepts, but playful at the same time.”

“Loom” was recorded in a new way for Imagine Dragons, which includes guitarist Wayne Sermon, bassist Ben McKee and drummer Daniel Platzman. For one thing, the band abandoned their usual preference for multiple producers in favor of just one — the Swedish duo of Mattman & Robin.

Another change was approaching it fresh. “We usually go into the record having a bunch of demos that we’ve already just self-produced and done on our own,” Reynolds says. “But this one we had a bunch of demos and we just scrapped everything and went in with a clean slate.”

“Loom” comes two years after “Mercury,” a brooding, raw confessional double album that dealt with heartache, tragedy and Reynolds’ struggles with sobriety.

“Eyes Closed,” the new album’s first single, signals a change, with a big stormy banger and the chest-pounding lyrics: “I’m back from the dead, from the back of my head/Been gone and facin’ horrors that should never be said.”

Reynolds says he was going for a blustery, arrogant vibe but revealing a vulnerable core. “It really was about being something that on the outside looks put together and strong,” he says, “but on the inside it’s on the verge of maybe shattering.”

The title of the album — “Loom” — has multiple meanings. “Just because something is looming doesn’t necessarily mean it’s bad. It could be good,” he says. “I also love the idea of the double meaning of it, kind of being a tapestry.”

The Dragons will tour across North America in support of “Loom,” kicking off June 30 in Camden, New Jersey, at Freedom Mortgage Pavilion and hitting such cities at Dallas, Seattle; Toronto; West Palm Beach, Florida; Denver; Charlotte, North Carolina; Phoenix; Salt Lake City; and concluding on Oct. 22 at the Hollywood Bowl.

Reynolds says touring is deep within Imagine Dragons’ DNA and speaks about playing live as if it were a massive therapeutic effort, which their shows often become.

“It’s just a lot of people in a room together realizing they’re not alone in their their feelings,” he says. “I don’t necessarily need them to feel happy or sad or anything. I just want them to look around them and see that other people are also feeling something and feeling, ‘I’m not alone in that.’”

Songs from “Loom” will make the setlist, of course. Reynolds considers it one of the band’s most up-tempo collections, even though there are ballads and slow moments.

“A lot of the record is kind trying to come to terms with just accepting. Things are looming and incoming, for better or for worse, and there’s just really nothing you could do other than accept it,” he says. “I still haven’t learned to do that, but we will.”
