Tom Cruise Briefly Attended High School in Louisville
By KY for KY Store Admin | January 21, 2015
In the mid-to-late '70s, Tommy attended high school at St. Xavier, a private Catholic school nestled in a kind of confluence between a few of Louisville's East End neighborhoods. At that time, the city was locked in a kind of economic and demographic stasis, where the decades of white flight and so-called urban renewal stabilized the metropolitan population for years to come. Some theorize that this was simply a byproduct of young Tommy Mapother harnessing the city's energies, siphoning Louisville's untapped psychic reserves like a battery and transforming its power, bending it to his will.
Before Tom Cruise climbed mountains and pretended to destroy aliens for a living, Tommy Mapother was just doing stuff. A nd he was doing this stuff in, of all places, Louisville, Kentucky. According to multiple biographical sources gleaned from the Internet in a great haste, the young Mapother moved to Louisville from Canada when he was a teenager where he ostensibly did normal Louisvillian things. While in school, the young Mapother reportedly excelled in athletics and theater, and was fascinated with theology, intending to pursue ecclesiastical studies at the St. Francis Seminary School in nearby Cincinnati. He was well on his righteous path, but as most endeavors undertaken by Kentuckians inevitably are, Mapother's pursuits were ruined in the pursuit of alcohol.
A March 4, 2013, New York Daily News article details Mapother's exploits with fellow seminarian Shane Dempler:
Miraculously, beginning in the early-to-mid-eighties, Louisville began to slowly grow once more, having nursed the rising star to manhood. This is probably a coincidence, but as they teach police detectives, we don't believe in coincidences. Not today.
If anything, the city of Louisville can claim it was there that Cruise discovered two of his life's chief passions: Acting and religion. Both have catapulted him out of our state and into fame and fortune, resulting in some of America's most valuable cultural exports and at least one international human rights violation investigation. However, Cruise's Wikipedia page is, as of this writing, scrubbed of any mention of his Louisville residency despite multiple corroborating sources elsewhere on the Internet. (Efforts to reach out to his cousin, Louisvillian and actor William Mapother, were unsuccessful, leaving us woefully unsure if Tom Cruise ever puked in the infield during Oaks Day races at Churchill Downs.)
Logic dictates that, because Tom Cruise lived in Louisville, he lived in Kentucky, thus making him——however fleeting——a Kentuckian. It is an easy distinction to make, but not one rendered lightly. It may not be Berea, Hazard or even Newport, but dammit, Louisville's close enough.
But who knows what could have been? Perhaps, like Castro and his failed baseball ambitions, had the Franciscan friars let him get drunk on that fateful night, Tom Cruise might have remained Tommy Mapother, and the world might have been a different place… probably one with a lot more Eric Stolz.

"Yeah, he lived in Louisville before commanding indentured servants aboard his personal watercraft within the larger Church of Scientology's ocean-faring Sea Org flotilla."
"I think he was a Cardinals fan."
"Well he wasn't a Scientologist when he lived in Kentucky, is all I'm saying."
"I know that Day-Lewis gets all the love for 'My Left Foot' and all, but Cruise was really screwed over by the Academy that year. His performance in 'Born on the Fourth of July' is incredible and really spoke to me on a personal level."
"No, you're thinking of Dustin Hoffman."

Saint X: UK release date, plot, trailer and everything we know about the psychological mystery
The Hulu series is based on Alexis Schaitkin's 2020 novel.
Hulu has had tremendous success with book adaptations over the last few years. The Handmaid's Tale , Little Fires Everywhere , Normal People , Nine Perfect Strangers and Conversations With Friends have struck a chord with audiences and even been widely acclaimed by critics, too. So it's little surprise that the streaming service has decided to turn Alexis Schaitkin's 2020 novel Saint X into its own mini-series.
Leila Gestein, who previously created Hart of Dixie and wrote on The Handmaid's Tale, developed, produced and is the head writer of Saint X , while Mudbound and Empire director Dee Rees has overseen several episodes, including the pilot of the psychological mystery drama.
But what is Saint X actually about? When is it being released in the UK? And is there a trailer that’ll immediately make you intrigued about the show? Take a look below to find out.
When is Saint X released in the UK?
In the UK, Saint X lands on Disney Plus on Wednesday, June 7, when all episodes will be available to stream at once.
In the US, Saint X has already aired with the finale landing on Hulu as of May 31. Here is the synopsis for Saint X episode 8, "Faraway":
"Emily learns the truth from Clive. All is revealed about what actually happened that fateful night on Faraway Cay."
Saint X trailer
Hulu has released a trailer for Saint X, which shows how the streamer has spared no expense in creating the titular, picture-perfect Caribbean vacation spot. However, things quickly take a dark twist on the Thomas' family vacation, starting a ripple effect that’s still being felt years later. Take a look at the trailer for Saint X below:
Saint X cast
Saint X has a strong ensemble of actors at its disposal to tell its engrossing story.
Fear the Walking Dead star Alycia Debnam-Carey plays Emily Thomas. She's joined by The Good Fight 's Josh Bonzie as Clive "Gogo" Richardson, Linoleum 's West Duchovny as Alison Thomas, and School's Out Forever 's Jayden Elijah as Edwin.
Other cast members include As The World Turns' Michael Park as Bill Thomas, Breaking Bad 's Betsy Brandt as Mia Thomas, Malory Towers' Bre Francis as Sara, and newcomer Kenlee Anaya Townsend as Claire.
Saint X plot
By this point you're probably wondering, what happens in Saint X ? Well, Hulu's official description says "the series, which is told via multiple timelines, upends the girl-gone-missing genre as it explores how a young woman's mysterious death during an idyllic Caribbean vacation create a traumatic ripple effect that eventually pulls her surviving sister into a dangerous pursuit of the truth."
Schaitkin's novel follows Claire, who is just 7 years old when her college-age sister Alison goes missing on the final night of their holiday at Saint X. After searching for several days, Alison's body is found. Two male employees from the resort are arrested, but with little evidence to prove their guilt, they're released. At the same time, Claire's death and the unknown details around it turns it into tabloid news, which tears the rest of the family apart.
Over a decade later, with Claire now living in New York City, she runs into one of the men suspected of killing her sister. As a result, Claire starts to investigate Alison's death all over again, while she also starts to wonder who exactly her sister was, all as she follows the man who might have been involved in her death. Just how close the adaptation is to the books remains to be seen, though.
What we do know is that Hulu's adaptation of Saint X will be told from several different perspectives and follow various timelines. This will allow it to dive into numerous themes of grief, privilege, class, family, media, community, and race in an authentic and detailed manner, while also taking a fresh approach to mystery and thriller genres.
Saint X episodes
Here is the synopses of all the Saint X episodes that have been released so far:
Saint X episode 1, "A Lovely Nowhere" "The Thomas family arrive on Saint X for a seemingly idyllic trip. In present day Brooklyn, Emily has a surprise encounter with someone from her past. The genesis of Gogo and Edwin's friendship is shown."
Saint X episode 2, "Woman Is Fickle" "More information is revealed about what happened the night Alison disappeared as she finds herself drawn to both Edwin and Tyler. Emily digs deeper into Alison's past. A tourist family makes a shocking discovery on an off-resort excursion."
Saint X episode 3, "Men of Interest" "Gogo and Edwin become the prime suspects in Alison's death after her body is discovered. Emily lies to Josh and Sunita as she continues to follow Clive."
Saint X episode 4, "A Disquieting Emptiness" "More of Clive's history is shown after he left the island. Clive reluctantly opens up to Emily, who continues to aggressively pursue him with help from Sunita. Alison and Edwin grow closer."
Saint X episode 5, "Colonial Interference" "Someone from Clive's past reaches out to him. Tyler attempts to push things with Alison. Emily's obsessive search for answers challenges her relationship with Josh and leads her to clash with Sunita."
Saint X episode 6, "Loose Threads of the Past" "Emily is unable to stop thinking about the letter as the Thomas family visits her and Josh. Claire's past is revealed."
Saint X episode 7, "The Goat Witch and the Sinner" "Emily promises Josh she'll get help. Young Edwin's secret is revealed. Alison tries to find the most exciting way to spend her last night of vacation."
Saint X episode 8, "Faraway" "Emily learns the truth from Clive. All is revealed about what actually happened that fateful night on Faraway Cay."
How to watch Saint X
As a Hulu original series, a subscription to Hulu is required in order to watch Saint X . There are multiple ways to get access to Hulu's content though. First, you can sign up directly for the streaming service; you can also pair it with live TV with the aptly named Hulu with Live TV . There is also the option to bundle the service with Disney Plus and ESPN Plus through the Disney Bundle , which gives you all three for a single, discounted monthly rate.
When Saint X premieres for UK audiences in June, it is going to be streaming exclusively on Disney Plus , so a subscription to that service is going to be necessary.

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. (AP) — Tom Cruise got a sneak preview of what it’s like to circle Earth in a SpaceX capsule.
Representatives for SpaceX’s first privately chartered flight revealed Friday that the actor took part in a call with the four space tourists orbiting more than 360 miles up. Thursday’s conversation, like the entire three-day flight, was private and so no details were released.
“Maverick, you can be our wingman anytime,” came the announcement from the flight’s Twitter feed. Cruise starred as Navy pilot Pete “Maverick” Mitchell in the 1986 film “Top Gun.” A sequel comes out next year.
Last year, NASA confirmed it was in talks with Cruise about visiting the International Space Station for filming. SpaceX would provide the lift, as it does for NASA astronauts, and like it did Wednesday night for the billionaire up there now with his two contest winners and a hospital worker.
Their flight is due to end Saturday night with a splashdown in the Atlantic off the Florida coast.
The four showed off their capsule in a live broadcast Friday. They’re flying exceedingly high in the automated capsule, even by NASA standards.
SpaceX got them into a 363-mile (585-kilometer) orbit following Wednesday night’s launch from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center. That’s 100 miles (160 kilometers) higher than the International Space Station. It’s so high that they’re completing 15 orbits of Earth daily, compared with 16 for station astronauts.
Until this all-amateur crew, relatively few NASA astronauts had soared that high. The most recent were the shuttle astronauts who worked on the Hubble Space Telescope over multiple flights in the 1990s and 2000s.
To enhance the views, SpaceX outfitted the Dragon capsule with a custom, bubble-shaped dome. Photos of them looking out this large window were posted online, otherwise little else had been publicly released of their first day in space.
Besides talking space with Cruise, the four capsule passengers chatted Thursday with young cancer patients. Hayley Arceneaux, a childhood cancer survivor, led the conversation from orbit with patients from the hospital that saved her life almost 20 years ago: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. A 6-year-old-boy wanted to know if there are cows on the moon — like in the nursery rhyme.
“I hope there will be one day. Right now, no, there aren’t,” replied another passenger, Sian Proctor. “We’re going to go back to the moon soon and we’re going to investigate all kinds of things about it.”
The video linkup was not broadcast live, but shared by St. Jude on Friday. Seeing the Earth from so high is “so beautiful,” Arceneaux told them.
Now a physician assistant at St. Jude, Arceneaux is the youngest American in space at age 29.
Pennsylvania entrepreneur Jared Isaacman, 38, purchased the entire flight for an undisclosed amount. He’s seeking to raise $200 million for St. Jude through the flight he’s named Inspiration4, half of that coming from his own pocket.
The two other Dragon riders won their seats through a pair of contests sponsored by Isaacman: Chris Sembroski, 42, a data engineer, and Proctor, 51, a community college educator.
During the broadcast Friday afternoon, Sembroski played a ukulele that will be auctioned off for St. Jude. “You can turn your volume down if you wish, but I’ll give it a shot,” he said.
Proctor, who is an artist, showed off a drawing in her sketchbook of a Dragon capsule being carried by a mythological dragon away from Earth.
All four share SpaceX founder Elon Musk’s quest to open space to everyone.
“Missions like Inspiration4 help advance spaceflight to enable ultimately anyone to go to orbit & beyond,” Musk tweeted Thursday after chatting with his orbiting pioneers.

A talk with Tom Cruise as the astronauts cruise around the planet.
By Kenneth Chang
- Sept. 17, 2021
Maverick has called space.
The Inspiration4 crew has talked to the actor Tom Cruise: Maverick was the call sign of his fighter pilot character in the 1986 movie “Top Gun.”
Rook, Nova, Hanks, and Leo spoke to @TomCruise sharing their experience from space. Maverick, you can be our wingman anytime. pic.twitter.com/5YTfyRZhrd — Inspiration4 (@inspiration4x) September 17, 2021
Like the Top Gun character, the four astronauts orbiting Earth have their own call signs. Jared Isaacman, the billionaire underwriting the mission, has flown fighter jets and already had a call sign: Rook, short for rookie. As part of the training for flying to orbit, Mr. Isaacman took his crewmates up in the air for fighter jet flights so they could experience high-G forces during sharp turns.
The other three crew members chose their own call signs. Hayley Arceneaux is Nova, Sian Proctor is Leo and Christopher Sembroski is Hanks.
Mr. Cruise also has space dreams. In May 2020, Jim Bridenstine, then the administrator of NASA, confirmed that the space agency had talked with Mr. Cruise about shooting a film on the International Space Station.
Since then, there has been no update about the progress of the movie or when Mr. Cruise may blast off. But he will return to the cockpit in a sequel called “Top Gun: Maverick,” now expected to be released in May 2022.
But if he does go, he will probably not be the first actor shooting a movie in space. A Russian actress and a director are scheduled to visit the space station next month to make a movie named “Challenge,” about a surgeon sent to orbit to save the life of a Russian astronaut.

Tom Cruise gets sneak preview from SpaceX's 1st private crew

SEE IT: Actor Tom Cruise puts stunning $39.5M Colorado mansion on the market
One of Hollywood's highest-paid stars that also boasts a Louisville connection is taking a step into what hopefully won't be too much of a risky business: the real estate market.
Tom Cruise is selling his 320-acre mountain ranch in Telluride, Colorado for $39.5 million, according to TopTenRealEstateDeals.com .
The action star, who spent part of his youth in Louisville attending St. Xavier High School, also owns homes in Beverly Hills and Clearwater, Florida. The Telluride ranch is where he enjoyed time with his kids and much of his marriage to actress Katie Holmes, the real estate website says .
The listing describes the property at 115 Francisco Way as "grand yet unassuming." The 11,512-square-foot living space with four bedrooms and six bathrooms was custom designed with help from Cruise to take full advantage of the surrounding mountain views.
The listing boasts a library, media room, study with secluded offices, billiards room, recreation space, guest suite and fitness center in the main house. The property also has a bunkhouse nestled in the surrounding aspen groves.
From December: Tom Cruise shouts at 'M:I7' crew for breaking COVID-19 protocol in leaked expletive-filled audio
"Perhaps nothing compares, however, to starting and ending each day in the generous master wing, with a wood-burning fireplace and sitting area showcasing unprecedented mountain views," the listing says. "Dual walk-in custom closets, plus a luxurious spa bath with jetted tub, separate shower, and marble-wrapped vanities, complete the picture."
Along with the georgeous mountain and valley views, the home is surrounded by intimate stone patios, a sports court for tennis, basketball or ice hockey, miles of private trails for hiking and riding, and dirt bike and snowmobile tracks threaded throughout the 320 acres.
A stunning photo gallery was posted with the property's listing, but it's not the first time the world has seen inside Cruise's vacation home. It was the location of his last major interview with Oprah Winfrey, a follow-up to his iconic couch-jumping interview in 2005. Winfrey loved the ranch so much that she later bought her own home nearby, TopTenRealEstateDeals.com says.
If you can't splurge on the multi-million-dollar estate and therefore have no hopes of meeting up with Cruise to pick up the deed, you'll still be able to see him in "Mission: Impossible 7," which is set to release on Nov. 19.

Tom Cruise Was Almost a Catholic Priest, Until He Got Kicked Out of Seminary
He could have been fighting real bad guys instead of pretending to fight them in movies!
Tom Cruise is a super famous movie star ( Mission Impossible , Top Gun , et al.), recognizable around the world. He’s also one of the most visible advocates for Scientology .
But his life almost turned out very differently: as a young man, he was a devout Catholic, attended a Catholic seminary, and was on track to become a priest – until he got kicked out.
Born Thomas Cruise Mapother IV in New York, Cruise’s family was Catholic, but his father was abusive. In elementary school his family moved to Canada for his father’s work, but in middle school his mother left his abusive father and took Cruise and his three sisters back to the United States.
As a teenager, he met Fr. Ric Schneider, who persuaded him to enter St. Francis Seminary School in Cincinnati, OH.
“Tom was instantly hooked,” the priest later said . And though the priest said he thought Cruise was lured by the chance at a free education, one of Cruise’s best friends at the time, Shane Dempler, says Cruise was serious about the priesthood.
“He had a very strong Catholic faith,” Dempler recalls . “We went to Mass, spent time in the chapel and enjoyed hearing stories from the priests. We thought the priests had a great lifestyle and we were really interested in priesthood.”
They almost didn’t let Cruise in. The school had an IQ cut-off of 110, and he got exactly that score on their test. Though Cruise never did well in school, he excelled at sports and joined their drama club.
But then it all came to an end. Cruise and Dempler, Dempler says, started to break the rules. For one, they would regularly sneak out and smoke cigarettes.
But what really got them in trouble was much bigger: Dempler and Cruise decided to steal some liquor from the private rooms of the Franciscans. Dempler snuck into the room, found the liquor, and tossed several bottles out the window to Cruise down below. Most of the bottles broke, but they managed to secure a few. Word spread among the other seminarians, and soon a big group of them were in the woods drinking the hard liquor. A few of them were later found drunk by the Franciscans, and they confessed where they had gotten the liquor.
“The school wrote a letter to our parents saying they liked us both, but would prefer if we didn’t return,” Dempler explains . “So we weren’t kicked out, just preferred not to go.”
So Cruise left seminary, and with it any plans to become a priest. He decided to try his hand at acting instead, and 5 years later, just before turning 20, he got his breakout role in the movie Taps . Soon after that came Risky Business , then Top Gun , and the rest is cinematic history.
Unfortunately, he didn’t keep his once-devout Catholic faith in the process. After hitting it big, his first (of unfortunately several) wives introduced him to Scientology – and he fully embraced it . Since the early 1990s, he has been deeply involved, raising huge sums of money for the organization and publicly advocating for it.
Many people who were once devout Catholics can find that they can’t really ever get away from it. So who knows if he may ever return.
So say a prayer for Tom Cruise!

Tom Cruise Is Making a Movie in Space With SpaceX and NASA
Greetings, earthlings. Welcome to another edition of The Monitor , WIRED’s entertainment news roundup. This time around we have news about a Labyrinth sequel (nearly 35 years later, but we’ll take it), a new pandemic-ready movie that was shot on an iPhone, and Tom Cruise's plans to film in space. Here, let us explain.
As you might recall, a few weeks ago we told you about some rumors flying around Hollywood suggesting that Tom Cruise wanted to shoot a movie in space with the help of NASA and Elon Musk’s SpaceX . Turns out, there was something to them after all. Per a report on Deadline , director Doug Liman, who directed Cruise in Edge of Tomorrow , is on board to helm a new action film that will enlist the help of NASA and SpaceX for at least some of the filming.
Little is known about the plot, but Deadline’s report notes that Liman wrote the first draft of the script and Cruise is a producer on the film. Given the current pandemic and the training Cruise and others will likely have to go through, there’s no telling exactly when the film could start production, but it looks like this one might actually happen. Let’s see if we can get #SendTomCruiseToSpace trending.
Speaking of surprising news, Labyrinth is getting a sequel. Deadline is reporting that Scott Derrickson will direct the follow-up to the 1986 Jim Henson classic. The movie, which has the backing of the Jim Henson Company, will be written by Maggie Levin, who wrote and directed the “My Valentine” installment of Hulu’s Into the Dark . Derrickson recently stepped away from the sequel to his Marvel film Doctor Strange over creative differences.
If there’s one movie that encompasses Right Now, it might be IWeirDo . The rom-com and debut feature from Taiwan’s Liao Ming-Yi was filmed entirely using an iPhone XS and features two soulmates—a girl who is a germophobe and a guy who is almost constantly washing his hands. Oh, also you’ll be able to watch its premiere online due to the coronavirus . The film is opening the Far East Film Festival , which typically takes place in Udine, Italy, but this year is happening online as that country continues to deal with Covid-19. The festival will take place June 26 to July 4, and IWeirDo will premiere on Italian site MyMovies .

Mission: Impossible 7 scenes with Tom Cruise filmed at St. Pete studio
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — A movie scene with Tom Cruise for “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One” , the 7th installment in the iconic film series, was shot at Litewave Media in St. Petersburg.
The media company will begin production on a new Rom-Com later this month, according to founder Christian Cashmir.
What You Need To Know
A movie scene with tom cruise for “mission: impossible – dead reckoning part one” was filmed at litewave media the litewave media founder's looking forward to working on his next big movie, “mother nature and the doomsday prepper” actor mickey rourke, who received an academy award nomination for his role in “the wrestler,” has been hired to play zeus filming is scheduled to begin on feb. 20.
“Apparently, Tom Cruise spends some time in the area,” he said. “It might have been a convenient place for him to film.”
Cashmir said the set for the scene was shipped to Florida from the United Kingdom. The scene appears near the beginning of the movie when Cruise, who plays Ethan Hunt, gets his instructions from a self-destructing message.
Nearly three minutes of the scene filmed at Litewave Media made the cut with some flashbacks intertwined which were not shot locally, according to Cashmir.
“The scene that they filmed here in our studio was one of the first scenes that Tom Cruise is in,” he said. “He’s at a table and he’s looking through a bunch of documents.”
The movie was released by Paramount Pictures last July and the scene in St. Petersburg was filmed just a couple of months earlier in May.
“They wrapped out filming right here in our studio. Which was kind of surreal hearing the crew go ‘alright, that’s a wrap on Tom. That’s a wrap on Mission Impossible 7,’” said Cashmir. “Everybody clapped and were kind of looking at each other like ‘oh, that’s cool.’”

The MI7 crew signed a poster for Cashmir, gave him a mug shot card with a photo of Tom Cruise which was used in the movie, and he got to watch a rough cut in his screening room.
“They said, ‘hey Christian, you have a nice screening room. Would you mind if we sat down and watched a rough cut of the movie?’ And I was like ‘are you kidding me? Of course,’” said Cashmir. “Then, they were like ‘if you want, you can sit in the back room and watch.’ And I was like ‘okay, let’s do this.’”
The Litewave Media founder said he’s looking forward to working on his next big movie, “Mother Nature and the Doomsday Prepper,” where his company will handle all the pre-and-post production work.
“We’re really excited to have a project like this that’s coming here and using all the local crew and local cast,” he said. “95 percent of the crew above and below the line is all local. Whereas most of these other films that come in here they bring in their directors, they bring in their producers, they bring in their DPs.”
“Mother Nature and the Doomsday Prepper” is a fantasy romance movie where mother nature is going to lose her job unless she can convince a fanatic doomsday prepper that there’s still hope for mankind. Actor Mickey Rourke, who received an Academy Award nomination for his role in “The Wrestler,” has been cast as Zeus.
Cashmir said the entire movie will also be filmed locally, which was written by executive producer Laurie Criego.
“She created this project. She wrote it and she brought it here to St. Petersburg-Tampa,” he said. “We’re going to shoot most of ‘Mother Nature and the Doomsday Prepper,’ locally here in St. Petersburg, Florida. A few scenes in Tampa.”
Producer Cameron Brumbelow, owner of Angry Elf Entertainment , said the local film incentives from Hillsborough and Pinellas Counties are a major reason the film will be made in the Tampa Bay area.
“Film incentive wise, this is exactly what Pinellas County is looking for,” he said. “This movie features the best of the county in all aspects.”
Criego had a couple of other options to film the movie but chose Litewave Media due to the location, incentives and production value, according to Cashmir.
“Laurie Criego could’ve taken this project to Palm Beach. She could’ve taken it to Minnesota. She was courting those locations,” he said. “She felt like this was the right place to do it.”
Litewave Media has a 40 foot wide and 15 foot tall LED wall that is used as a backdrop for a few scenes in the movie.
“We’re also going to actually build an entire ship in here. So, we’re going to have a 40 foot boat. Like an ancient Greek sailing ship,” said Cashmir. “The LED wall will serve as sort of the water and the clouds in the background. So, it’s some stuff that I personally have never done.”
To accommodate larger productions, Cashmir and his wife spent $2 million purchasing and renovating a nearly 12,000 square-foot office warehouse in 2021.
“We kind of wanted to take the next step and invest in the business and hopefully it would bring us bigger projects,” he said. “So far, we’ve been fortunate enough to work on some pretty amazing things and also produce our own content here in the studio.”
Cashmir said MI7 has been the biggest budget movie Litewave Media has worked on so far. Some other big productions include the “Summer of Soul” which won an Oscar for Best Documentary, National Geographic’s “Drain the Oceans” series and music videos for Australian rock band AC/DC.
Brumbelow and Cashmir most recently worked together on the feature film “R.A.D.A.R.: The Adventures of Bionic Dog” which was distributed by Lions Gate Films last year. Filming for “Mother Nature And The Doomsday Prepper” is scheduled to begin on Feb. 20.

SpaceX tourists speak to Hollywood star Tom Cruise from orbit
WASHINGTON (AFP) - Four space tourists who are orbiting the Earth in a SpaceX craft talked to movie star Tom Cruise - who is hoping to make a film in space - from the vessel on Friday (Sept 17), mission control said.
The amateur astronauts will also appear live on YouTube at around 5pm Eastern (5am on Saturday, Singapore time) for an "update about their multi-day journey aboard the Dragon spacecraft," it said.
"Rook, Nova, Hanks, and Leo spoke to @TomCruise sharing their experience from space," said the official Twitter account of Inspiration4, the official name of the first ever space mission to take place without an actual astronaut.
The names are the call signs of the four passengers.
"Maverick, you can be our wingman anytime," the tweet added, accompanied by a video clip of Cruise playing an elite fighter pilot whose call sign was Maverick in the movie Top Gun.
Last year, former Nasa administrator Jim Bridenstine announced a film project starring Cruise to be shot in zero gravity on board the International Space Station.
However, no details have yet been delivered about the project, which would be done in collaboration with SpaceX.
The four Inspiration4 passengers - billionaire Jared Isaacman and three other Americans - took off Wednesday night from Florida. They are currently flying farther out than the International Space Station, and their mission is scheduled to last a total of three days.

Tom Cruise And NASA Could Be A Match Made In The Heavens

NASA confirmed that actor Tom Cruise and private spaceflight company Space X are considering a feature film shot on board the International Space Station. Cruise is shown above in New York City in June 2017.
It's a long way to liftoff — there's not even a studio attached yet — but the latest news about Tom Cruise is not just a Hollywood rumor. The film industry website Deadline reports that the Top Gun and Mission Impossible star is in preliminary talks with both NASA and with Elon Musk's Space X to film a feature-length action-adventure in orbit.
NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine confirmed by tweet that "NASA is excited to work with @TomCruise on a film aboard the @Space_Station! We need popular media to inspire a new generation of engineers and scientists to make @NASA's ambitious plans a reality."
At 57, the actor is a good deal older than the run-of-the-mill astronaut (if there is such a thing) though a number "spaceflight participants" (the official NASA and Roscosmos — the Russian space agency — designation for non-astronauts) have flown before.
Cruise is demonstrably in excellent shape, and evidently fearless when it comes to doing his own stunts. That's fortunate, as up to this point, Space X has launched only unmanned missions of its Dragon 2 craft, which is designed to transport astronauts to the International Space Station. Its first launch with a human crew is scheduled for later this month.
Cruise's penchant for daredevil filming has occasionally resulted in injury. Filming was halted for a time after he hurt his ankle while shooting a rooftop-to-rooftop jump in Mission Impossible: Fallout, a film in which he also hung from a flying helicopter.
There were no mishaps in other recent Mission Impossible installments, when he did stunts while hanging the 123rd floor of the Burj Kalifa skyscraper in Dubai and while clinging to the exterior door of a cargo plane during take-off. Something literally out-of-this-world is, arguably, just the next step. If it happens.
Tom Cruise, Who Is 60, Shares Video And Backstory Behind Insane Mission: Impossible Stunt
I shouldn't be so shocked. But I'm shocked.
Do you know that primal element that kicks in when danger is near, warning us to flee in order to avoid bodily harm? Yeah, Tom Cruise doesn’t have that. I’m not breaking any news when I tell you that Cruise is a maniac when it comes to his stunt work. I mean that in the best way possible. The man puts his life on the line – literally – to accomplish eye-popping stunts, all in the name of entertaining his audience. We have already gone to some lengths to document the amazing sequences he’s pulling off in the upcoming Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning, Part One . But a new video that was attached to the Avatar sequel , Avatar: The Way of Water , so that audiences could see it in IMAX has now been released, and it’s the wildest thing you will see today.
The video , posted above, shows all of the preparation that Tom Cruise and the Mission: Impossible crew have to put in just so that they can pull off one sequence from the highly anticipated sequel. The stunt, which we were able to see at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, shows Cruise’s character Ethan Hunt riding a motorcycle off of a ramp that sends him over a cliff in Norway… plunging him into a base jump where a parachute (we think) will take him onto a train down below. It’s intending to top the HALO jump featured in Mission: Impossible – Fallout , and is described by Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning, Part One director Christopher McQuarrie in the following way:
This is far and away the most dangerous thing we have ever attempted.
When McQ calls it that, you know this is something serious. He has been directing Mission: Impossible movies with Tom Cruise since the magnificent Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation , so he has guided Cruise through incredible plane stunts , motorcycle sequences that shut down the streets of Paris , and more. Cruise and McQuarrie feel a need to continuously top themselves with each new Mission: Impossible movie. After a motorcycle ride off a ramp into a base jump, however, I’m not sure what else these two can cook up… short to Tom Cruise taking Ethan Hunt to space , which has been the running joke for some time now.
This might be my favorite part of the video, to be honest. The look on Christopher McQuarrie’s face as he watches his A-list leading man performing death defying stunts proves that he is just as shocked and amazed by Cruise’s commitment as we all are. The joy of filmmaking is a delight to see.
We don’t know a ton about the plot of Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning , or why this story needed two installments. It feels, to me, like Cruise and McQuarrie are bringing a chapter of Ethan Hunt to a close, with old characters showing up and Hunt being told that he needs to choose a side in a growing conflict. Also, as I have pointed out, Cruise is 60. How much longer will he be able to pull off stunt work on this level. He’s already a Hall of Fame GOAT when it comes to on-screen stunts. He has nothing left to prove. But if he feels like the story needs it, Cruise will do it. And we love him for that.
Look for Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning, Part One when it opens in theaters on July 14. It’s one of many upcoming 2023 movies that we have circled as Must See in the coming year.

Unremarkable little UK town where Hollywood star Tom Cruise decided to live
Mission: Impossible actor and Hollywood star Tom Cruise spends some of his time in Biggin Hill, Kent on the outskirts of London, a town that was once home to Charles Darwin
- 12:09, 2 Oct 2023
A small, arguably unassuming town just outside of London is home to one of the biggest A-listers in the world.
When Mission: Impossible actor Tom Cruise decides to escape the hustle and bustle of Hollywood and launch himself off enormous cliffs in the pursuit of some gnarly footage, he has the perfect place to retreat to.
The famed fictional jet fighter heads to Biggin Hill in the London Borough of Bromley. The town is famous for being one of the highest points in Greater London, rising to over 210 metres, and being home to an airstrip and air show.
Biggin Hill is home to 10,817 residents, according to the 2021 Census, and a military memorial museum that displays video footage of the airfield and surrounding areas during the Second World War . Nearby Down House in Bromley was home to evolution boffin Charles Darwin , with his former home now operating as a museum and shrine to his life.
Biggin Hill Airport is known both for its spectacular air shows and providing private planes to clients, which will come in useful when Cruise jets out on any adventures. According to an insider close to the actor he enjoys living in England and loves the culture.
"He’s American, but he has spent so much time here and has English heritage. Tom has only recently moved to this new home, which feels like it's practically in the countryside. He sees it as his rural bolt-hole, away from the hustle and bustle of London where he had been before," the pal said.
If you fancy walking in the footsteps of Cruise, Biggin Hill is about an hour away via public transport and by car from the centre of London. The Kings Arms Hotel in nearby Westerham and the Caterham Travelodge are two of the cheaper places to stay if you're looking to make a weekend of it.
Cruise has a love affair with England and even bought a six-bedroom property in East Grinstead, West Sussex, selling it in 2016 to the Australian singer, Peter Andre, as reported in the Daily Mail. The reason why a member of the Hollywood elite has found himself in the town best known for its proximity to Gatwick Airport has been widely speculated upon.
One suggested reason is that it is home to Saint Hill Manor, which was constructed in 1792 and was later bought by L. Ron Hubbard, who made it the British headquarters of the Church of Scientology. The stunning building sits in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and was home to the organisation's founder. According to its website, he made "many of his discoveries" there.
Back in 2006, the Cruise forked out around £3 million on a sprawling 11,000 square foot house in East Grinstead. Since then, he's been pictured in the county on many occasions and it is believed he even spent the first national lockdown in the town.
While the acting legend's whereabouts may be quite well-documented, fewer people know about the very ordinary life of his daughter. Isabella Kidman Cruise, 29, daughter of Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman, has resided in South London for a while with her British husband Max Parker.
According to My London, the pair have lived in Croydon for a while where they share a pet reptile. Back in 2020 it was reported that Cruise's daughter, Bella, didn't want to live at her father's £342,000-a-month penthouse in London.
Instead Tom and Nicole's adopted daughter decided that a life out of the spotlight was more for her, and she chose to settle in London. It's reported the actor owns a property at the historic Corinthia Residences in London with four-bedrooms, an indoor pool and incredible views of the cityscape.
The posh pad is thought to be just a while away from 10 Downing Street in the heart of London, but it's reported that Bella and her husband Max decided to relocate to Croydon in October 2017 so they could be nearer Max's parents.

LOCATION DETAILS
St Paul's Cathedral, London, is an Anglican cathedral, the seat of the Bishop of London and the mother church of the Diocese of London. It sits on Ludgate Hill at the highest point of the City of London and is a Grade I listed building. Its dedication to Paul the Apostle dates back to the original church on this site, founded in AD 604. The present cathedral, dating from the late 17th century, was designed in the English Baroque style by Sir Christopher Wren. Its construction, completed in Wren's lifetime, was part of a major rebuilding programme in the City after the Great Fire of London. The cathedral is one of the most famous and most recognisable sights of London. Its dome, framed by the spires of Wren's City churches, has dominated the skyline for over 300 years. At 365 feet (111 m) high, it was the tallest building in London from 1710 to 1967. The dome is among the highest in the world. St Paul's is the second-largest church building in area in the United Kingdom after Liverpool Cathedral. St Paul's Cathedral occupies a significant place in the national identity. It is the central subject of much promotional material, as well as of images of the dome surrounded by the smoke and fire of the Blitz. Services held at St Paul's have included the funerals of Admiral Nelson, the Duke of Wellington, Sir Winston Churchill and Baroness Thatcher; jubilee celebrations for Queen Victoria; peace services marking the end of the First and Second World Wars; the wedding of Charles, Prince of Wales and Lady Diana Spencer; the launch of the Festival of Britain; and the thanksgiving services for the Silver, Golden and Diamond Jubilees and the 80th and 90th birthdays of Elizabeth II. St Paul's Cathedral is a working church with hourly prayer and daily services. The tourist entry fee at the door is £18 for adults but no charge is made to worshippers.

Suri Cruise turns 18 and is still estranged from Tom: ‘Not a Scientologist, never will be’

Thanks for contacting us. We've received your submission.
Suri Cruise was once the most famous baby in America.
The arrival of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes’ daughter on April 18, 2006, sparked a global frenzy for the first glimpse of the A-list infant.
But it wasn’t until five months after her birth that she made her debut — on the cover of Vanity Fair, wrapped in the arms of her doting parents, in glossy photos taken by photographer to the stars, Annie Leibovitz.
Now she turns 18 on Thursday and faces a choice: Whether to return to the level of fame she had as a kid — when there were blogs devoted to her fashion — or maintain the carefully-guarded life Holmes has built for her since she blindsided Cruise by filing for divorce.
The dark-haired teen has grown up in Manhattan largely shielded from the spotlight by her loving and highly protective mom, 45, far removed from her 60-year-old father’s Church of Scientology.
As Page Six revealed last year, Suri is estranged from her famous father and the pair have no relationship.
An industry source told us this week that the “Mission: Impossible” star has not seen Suri since 2012. “Katie has safeguarded Suri and she’s a devoted mom,” the source said.
“This is a girl who is a private citizen. She hasn’t lived her life in public.”
Holmes told Glamour magazine in 2023 that she likes to “protect” Suri from the public eye “because she was so visible at a young age.”
“I’m very grateful to be a parent, to be her parent. She’s an incredible person. She’s my heart,” she added.
Being the only daughter of a protective single parent is a stark contrast to how Suri’s life began, of course.
“My whole life I always wanted to be a father,” Cruise gushed to VF back in 2006.
“I always said to myself that my children would be able to depend on me and I would always be there for them and love them — that I’d never make a promise to my kids that I couldn’t keep.
“I’m not one of those people who believe you can spoil a child with too much love. You can never give a child too much love. There’s just no way.”
He already had two adopted children, Bella, now 31, and Connor, now 29, from his marriage to Nicole Kidman and after her Vanity Fair debut was happy to parade Suri for the paparazzi.
Cruise had famously declared their romance by jumping up and down on Oprah Winfrey’s couch in May 2005, yelling “I’m in love!”
But when Suri was just 6, Holmes filed for divorce after six years of marriage with the help of her dad, Martin Holmes, a fierce attorney, and through a secret plan that entailed using burner phones.
Cruise was taken completely by surprise by the filing while he was on the set of “Oblivion” in Iceland in June 2012.
He and Suri were last seen together at Disney World in the summer of 2012.
In November 2013, during a deposition in his $50 million court battle against a pair of tabloid magazines, the “Top Gun” star admitted that Holmes had filed for divorce “to protect Suri from Scientology,” court documents revealed.
Despite not having a relationship; as per their divorce agreement, Cruise, who has an estimated $600 million fortune, agreed to pay Holmes $400,000 a year until Suri turns 18 as well as future “medical, dental, insurance, education, college and other extracurricular costs”.
Scientology lies at the heart of the question over Suri’s future.
Holmes, who rose to fame in the TV hit, “Dawson’s Creek,” is believed to have signed multiple non-disclosure documents that will prevent her from ever talking about her marriage to Cruise — and her time inside Scientology.
But when Suri turns 18, NY state declares that she is at the age of majority, when an individual is legally considered an adult.
That would allow her to speak about her father, his beliefs and their rift.
Tony Ortega, who has covered Scientology in depth for decades, told Page Six, “Suri would have been too young to sign any agreement, but she will now be free to talk if she wants to and it’s going to be really interesting if she has something to say.”
We have reached out to reps for Cruise, Holmes and the Church of Scientology.
“Part of why Katie left when she did when Suri was 6 was that Katie would have seen Isabella and Connor going through Scientology,” said Ortega.
Cruise is of course Scientology’s most famous follower and seen as one of its most powerful figures, possibly second only to its leader, David Miscavige.
That power has led Ortega and former Scientologists to question what action Miscavige and other top Scientologists may have taken against Holmes and her daughter.
Regular members who quit are declared “suppressive persons (SP)” and those who stay in Scientology are told to completely cut them off.
“We don’t know for sure if Katie was ever declared an SP,” Ortega said.
“If you are a regular church member you could be told to disconnect from your wife and daughter, but because Tom is a celebrity — he’s the top celebrity — he gets to ignore all this stuff.
“Your average member would be kicked out, but David Miscavige can’t do that with Tom.”
Both Mike Rinder and Jeff Augustine, two high-profile former Scientologists, agreed with this claim.
Augustine is married to Karen de la Carriere, who was one of the highest-ranking church leaders until she left in 2010 and told Page Six, “The situation with Suri is a larger story about Scientology and the subject of how they make people no longer useful to them or threats to them non-persons.
“It’s like they cease to exist and that’s what happened to Suri.”
Back in August 2020, Leah Remini — one of the most famous celebrities to leave and speak out against Scientology — told us that she believed Cruise, who now lives mainly in the UK , was waiting until Suri is older so he could indoctrinate her into Scientology.
Remini, who attended Cruise and Holmes’ November 2006 Italian wedding at the 15th-century Odescalchi Castle, said, “I’m sure his master plan is to wait until Suri gets older so that he can lure her into Scientology and away from her mother.”
Suri has tiptoed very gently into her parents’ showbusiness world while attending her exclusive Manhattan day school, singing “Blue Moon” in the opening credits of Holmes’ 2022 movie, “Alone Together.”
“I always want the highest level of talent,” Holmes said. “So I asked her! She’s very, very talented. She said she would do it and she recorded it, and I let her do her thing.”
Suri also sang in the film “Rare Objects,” which Holmes also directed.
Holmes will this year return to Broadway in a revival of Thornton Wilder’s “Our Town”.
She has not remarried but had a six-year romance with actor Jamie Foxx which she kept under the radar before their split in August 2019 and went on to have a brief fling with Nolita restaurateur Emilio Vitolo Jr. in 2021.
Holmes is careful not to speak out too much about her daughter, who is now preparing for college, once saying, “She came out very strong — she’s always been a strong personality.”
But she is now getting ready for her daughter to leave the nest.
“You want them to stay with you forever, but they’re these amazing beings, and you have to do everything you can to give them what they need — and then they’re going to go,” she told Town & Country in 2017.
“And that’s going to be very, very sad for me.”
As for the future, former Scientology spokesperson Mike Rinder, who has not seen his own two eldest children since he quit the organization, told Page Six, “Suri is not a Scientologist and never will be…she deserves love and sympathy.”

Christian Bale's American Psycho Inspiration Wasn't a Slasher - It Was Tom Cruise
Christian Bale's portrayal of American Psycho's Patrick Bateman wasn't inspired by a serial killer but by a Tom Cruise interview.
- Christian Bale based his portrayal of Patrick Bateman in American Psycho on Tom Cruise's intense friendliness and unnatural behavior in an interview with David Letterman.
- Bale's decision to model Bateman after Cruise added authenticity to his performance, as Bateman's forced happiness and exaggerated movements mirrored Cruise's onscreen and offscreen persona.
- While Nicolas Cage also served as an inspiration for Bateman, elements of Tom Cruise's mannerisms and energy can still be seen throughout the character's personality.
Christian Bale's portrayal of the psychopathic murderer Patrick Bateman has become iconic over the years--and for good reason. In American Psycho , a film based on Bret Easton Ellis's novel of the same name, Bateman's off-putting personality and over-the-top reactions in his head are disturbing and yet somewhat believable. However, as a result of his memorably exaggerated performance, Christian Bale decided to model Bateman after a real person to give him some authenticity. Surprisingly, Bale's portrayal wasn't modeled off of a serial killer, but rather fellow movie star Tom Cruise.
When American Psycho 's Patrick Bateman isn't being serious or villainous, he often wears a big grin and speaks in a forcibly happy manner. It almost feels like he's not human but instead someone observing humans and figuring out how they should behave in situations. Bale clearly put much thought into how he wanted Bateman to behave and drew inspiration from one of the most famous movie stars.
Updated on February 18, 2024 by Jordan Iacobucci: More than twenty years after its release, American Psycho continues to be a culturally significant film. This is due in large part to Christian Bale's chilling portrayal of Patrick Bateman, which has itself become iconic over the years. While many fans of the film may recognize that Bale based part of his character on Tom Cruise, that isn't the entire story. In the years since the film's release, Bale and those close to him have added to the history of how he crafted the character. As it turns out, there were multiple influences outside of Tom Cruise who helped inspire the creation of Patrick Bateman, adding to the mythos surrounding one of the best films from the early 2000s.
Tom Cruise's Interviews Inspired Christian Bale in American Psycho
American psycho's ending, explained: is paul allen really dead.
In an interview with director Mary Harron , the inspiration for Christian Bale's American Psycho inspiration was revealed to be action film superstar Tom Cruise. Harron recalled that, one day, Bale had phoned her with the news that he had found inspiration for American Psycho . Having watched Tom Cruise doing an interview with late-nate commentator David Letterman, Bale saw the exact qualities he wanted to portray in Bateman. Harron described Cruise as having this "very intense friendliness with nothing behind the eyes" and that Bale was really taken aback by his energy. He thought it would naturally fit into the unnatural business world of American Psycho , which it certainly did.
Tom Cruise is known for being very intense, both onscreen and behind the scenes. Moreover, the actor always comes across as incredibly happy due to his big grin and exaggerated movements. Though Cruise's co-stars typically praise the actor , some viewers have labeled his energy as being forced, like Patrick Bateman's. Even so, others see Cruise's mannerisms as being nothing more than a genuine enthusiasm for the art of cinema. Either way, there is certainly no denying an unnaturalness to the actor's behavior, explaining why Christian Bale thought it would be perfect to adapt for American Psycho .
Christian Bale Used Tom Cruise's Mannerisms for Patrick Bateman
An american psycho theory turns patrick bateman's exercise regimen sinister.
Although Patrick Bateman is obviously a lot more aggressive than Tom Cruise, there are hints of his personality in American Psycho . For example, when Bateman brings a drunk colleague home and is gearing up to murder him, his big grin and wide eyes are eerily reminiscent of Cruise. And, much like in Cruise's Letterman interview, everything Patrick Bateman talks about -- especially music -- is with a deep passion, walking the line between genuine and forceful.
Despite the resemblance, it's safe to assume that Christian Bale's performance in American Psycho wasn't purposefully targeting Tom Cruise by relating him to a serial killer. It would appear that Christian Bale has nothing personal against Cruise, but rather leapt at the chance to craft a believable character. But still, some audiences dislike Cruise due to his involvement in the Scientology movement, whereas many who have worked with him insist he's one of the nicest and most professional people they've ever met. Even so, his connection to the group has generated a different public image for Cruise than that of the 80s and 90s, resulting in various caricatures, including Bale's iconic performance as Patrick Bateman.
Who Else Inspired Patrick Bateman In American Psycho
Sigma or killer the truth behind american psycho's patrick bateman.
Twenty-three years after its initial release, American Psycho is still considered to be a masterpiece of filmmaking and has managed to remain surprisingly culturally relevant, even for a new generation of viewers. With over two decades in hindsight, some of the widely reported stories about Christian Bale's performance in the classic 2000s film can be put in order. Over the years, the stories about Bateman being directly based on Tom Cruise have become very well known, but it isn't quite as simple as some people may have previously thought. While it is true that the actor based parts of the character of Patrick Bateman on Tom Cruise, there was more than one person who inspired the creation of the iconic serial killer.
One of the major inspirations for Patrick Bateman outside of Tom Cruise was none other than Nicolas Cage . According to Christian Bale: The Inside Story of the Darkest Batman by Harrison Cheung, Bale partially based his performance on that of Nicolas Cage in Vampire's Kiss . The film in question sees Cage, known for his overacting and boisterous roles, portray a literary agent who slowly creeps toward madness--not unlike Patrick Bateman in American Psycho . Vampire's Kiss has become a cult classic, with Cage's performance remaining one of the most memorable parts of the film. It would appear that the more unhinged side of Patrick Bateman stems from Cage's performance, though elements of Tom Cruise still remain sprinkled throughout the character's personality.
An actor often draws many inspirations from the real world for each individual character he portrays. Especially in a role as complex and deep as that of Patrick Bateman, it isn't surprising that Christian Bale sought to ground his character in real influences. Likely an amalgamation of many different people, including Tom Cruise and Nicolas Cage, Patrick Bateman is a character who speaks to generations because of just how real a character he is.
