There are a couple of local dishes that I can recommend as we visit the local restaurants like the fish & funji which is our national dish you want to get the mayonnaise sauce with Onions brings you back like the ratatouille. My favorite local drink is the rum punch it's refreshing for a hot steamy day on the beach but be careful they can hurt. But all in all ask me for great local cocktails and food and I will not disappoint.

Derwin took us there and was great. He picked us up right outside the cruise gate right on time. The drive there was beautiful and gave us some information about the island. Once there he made sure we were well taken care of and knew where to go. Then he had the Sandman pick us up to take us back to the port. He was great as well and very nice. Saw Dervin at Smugglers Cove, which we had stumbled on accidentally, and asked directions He was the most pleasant person to talk to and gave very precise directions to where we were heading. It was so helpful to see (and take pic of the sign) near the French Deli - Stoutts Taxi & Tour delivered us from our house to the Roadtown ferry terminal when we had a problem with our car. We agreed to a 730a pickup and they arrived 15min early! The van was spotless, comfortable and air-conditioned. Mr. Stoutt was an excellent driver and so friendly. The roads in BVI are a challenge to drive on, with many up and down twists and turns. It's so helpful to have such an excellent service as Mr. Stoutt's! We went to Cane Garden Bay and paid $24 round trip per person with party of 8 -$172 total. Driver tells us half way we need to return at 12:30 because of festivities. Seemed odd and we mentally questioned it but the driver should know best. Clearly he just wanted to clear us out and try to get another group out there. We got back with no traffic issues and traffic never became a problem. At the port, they were still selling round trips. I told the seller what happened and he just laughed. Terrible experience. The distillery and beach were nice. For my family of 4, we paid $280 and feel it was overpriced for what we got. @blue_water what do you know about Kuralu Catamaran Tours.  Someone else has recommended them.  Do you live on Tortola?

We do not live on Tortola, it is just my favorite spot in the Carib. We’ve not sailed with Kuralu, we spoke with them once and had a day planned, but weather got in the way.  

But I do know from years of research and meeting others who have sailed that Kuralu is excellent. We would not hesitate to sail with Kuralu, or with Aristocat and Patouche!

@blue_water thank you.  We have never been before to Tortola, what would you recommend.  Some mobility issues, there are 4 of us, all over 60

For an easy but amazing day, I’d suggest contacting AC’s Taxi to book a private island tour. Tortola is a gorgeous, lush island, with spectacular views of the beaches and other islands from high above. AC will also show you spots that other visitors never see, and will design your itinerary based on your wishes. His contact info is in post #7 above.

If you don’t want a private tour there will be taxi drivers at the dock offering shared tours for ~$25/pp in the 20+ passenger, open-sided safari taxis. Check with the nice ladies at the information booth or with the taxi coordinator…

Then stop at Pusser’s Pub near the dock for a pint and a bite! They also have a nice clothing line in their store there…

Other more active excursions include -

Taking the ferry to Virgin Gorda and a walk through the Baths. However that is a bit strenuous and not recommended for anyone with slight mobility issues.

The ship excursion to Jost Van Dyke, primarily for beach time in White Bay.

And of course the daysails mentioned above, or a private powerboat to visit the other islands.

Anything sound good?

And you can just take a shared taxi to either Cane Garden Bay or Brewers Bay, CGB has many more amenities and beach bars/restaurants…

May i ask appromixetely how much ac tours is for tour of island? I’d be travelling solo so concerned about price.

You’d need to contact AC for a current quote…  

The shared taxi tour may be perfect for you since you are solo…Great way to enjoy a nice tour with your fellow passengers…

Was it with AC?   Do you mind to share roughly (ball park) what the cost is?  We have 8 in our group and I am just trying to figure out options at this point - everyone has a different budget so it is difficult to find something that suits everyone

We have 14 and it is $50/pp with AC......I just don't know if its based on how many people you have in your group or not. He was very quick to respond to my inquiry.
