Tour Edge is a golf club company that flies a bit under the radar. Tour Edge doesn’t do the same marketing and advertising that TaylorMade or Callaway does, but their products are not bad at all. The pricing on the Tour Edge sets are usually considerably better, and they provide a lot of customizations to their clubs for little or no cost. This Tour Edge Moda Silk Complete set is a great full set option for a female golfer. If you have been wondering if the Moda Silk is for you or you have been looking for a mid-price high-quality opportunity, this could be the one. 

Set Composition

• 5 & 6 Hybrids

We love the fact that you get two fairway woods and two hybrids. Traditionally speaking fairway woods and hybrids are easier for a woman to hit solid, especially out of a less than ideal lie. The fact that the irons start at a seven iron appeals to the mid to high handicap player that struggles with proper launch coming off the face of an iron. Ideally, we like to see a six-iron included as well, but you can always add a four hybrid to this set should you need to fill the gap between the five hybrid and the five wood. 

One of the reasons that this set does so well is that it looks good. The golf bag is offered in several different color combinations. With the matching head covers, this golf set looks sharp. It in no way seems like a cheap package set or a beginners golf set. The golf bag included with the Moda Silk set is considered a premium golf bag with significant pockets and club compartments. 

The Moda Silk set is offered in navy/black, black/sea green, and black/hot pink. The black golf bags hold up the best overtime when it comes to dirt and damage from being on the golf cart. Navy/khaki, black/sea green, black/hot pink.

We’ll be honest – when we first got our hands on the Tour Edge Moda Silk clubs we thought they were going to be all flash and no substance.

Usually when a set of women’s golf clubs looks this nice, the performance of the clubs suffer for the sake of aesthetic appeal.

But as you will find as you read on in our review, this wasn’t the case. These clubs are also lightweight but don’t give up anything in the way of power which is great if you are seeking a set of women’s clubs that plays long.

What The Set Includes

We really liked the driver of the Tour Edge Moda Silk set. It’s a 460cc driver with a titanium head. And you get plenty of height and distance with the 15 degrees of loft.

But what was really nice about the driver is that it had a pronounced offset hosel and a ridiculously expanded sweet spot so to say that it was forgiving would be an understatement.

The Tour Edge Moda Silk set comes with a 3 and 5 fairway wood.

And there is precision weighting in the sole of both these woods which made it very easy to get the ball high up into the air.

They are both oversized and boast the same hosel offset as the driver.

You get 2 hybrids in the Tour Edge Moda Silk set: a #5 and #6 which is perfect for when you want to skip over your longer irons and hit with a bit more accuracy.

The hybrids also feature low centers of gravity to help impart good swing mechanics.

The oversized irons in the Tour Edge Moda Silk set feature perimeter weighting which expands the sweet spot and once again, moves the weight to the rear sole of the clubs. You get irons 7-9 in this set.

The Tour Edge Moda Silk set comes with a pitching wedge and a sand wedge that feature the same perimeter weighting that the irons do so they are very accurate and help you get out of tough lies even on off-center shots.

Last but not least you get a mallet-style putter with a high moment of inertia face and alignment marker.

Our Final Assessment

Overall we really liked the balanced performance of the Tour Edge Moda Silk women’s golf clubs. Teh graphite shafts were comfortable and provided good ball speed on drives and in the fairway woods.

The pronounced perimeter weighting of the irons were also a nice feature that is usually reserved for much more expensive clubs.

Oh and did we mention the price? You can snag the Tour Edge Moda Silk set for around $700. So this is a great value as well. If you are looking to take the next big leap with your golf game, we highly recommend giving these clubs a try.

Lady Edge Driver

The Lady Edge Driver is a 460cc Titanium driver built for maximum launch. The driver's 15-degree loft will produce high-launching, longer drives with ease and consistency. Its offset design will also battle slices, while the face of the clubhead features a huge sweet spot for improved accuracy.  

Lady Edge Fairway Wood

Designed to match and perfectly complement the LE Driver, the oversized fairway metals are designed for maximum launch and ease of use. The LE 3-wood is set to 18-degrees of loft, while the 5-wood is set to 22-degrees.

Lady Edge Hybrid

These versatile easy-to-hit hybrids are designed to give you relief from anywhere on the golf course.  You won’t find a higher lofted hybrid anywhere else in golf. Tour Edge Hot Launch C524 Iron Review

I had never struck a Tour Edge golf club before the Hot Launch C524 Irons arrived on my doorstep, so I was keen to see if they could perform as well as some of the best irons on the market for a fraction of the price.

Retailing for just $79.99/£65.00 per iron, the price tag certainly caught my eye as many irons in this category sell for far more than double that price. On first inspection out of the box, there were no signs of why that may be from an aesthetic point of view. Each iron was beautifully finished and looked great when I put them down in the playing position. A generous blade length and ample offset let me know that these were irons designed with playability in mind, but overall the dimensions and proportions were excellent and framed the ball nicely.

From a shelf appeal point of view, it is a case of nearly but not quite for me. I am generally someone who appreciates a minimalist approach to looks when it comes to golf equipment and the C524 irons are just a touch fussy for my tastes from the back. I don’t mind a subtle accent color but the bright blue badge just wasn’t for me, although that is just personal preference and some players may love it. I just feel that leaving that black or grey would have given the iron a slightly more premium look and feel.

In terms of the tech, there is quite a lot going on. At first glance, you could be forgiven for thinking that these were a hollow-body construction iron as there is no visual cavity, however, this is somewhat of an optical illusion. The cavity has simply been filled with Tour Edge’s VIBRCOR, which is a high-grade TPU designed to improve sound and feel. 

Additional toe weighting has been added to the set with the intention of stabilizing impact and providing additional ball speed on off-center strikes.

I tested the Tour Edge Hot Launch C524 irons at Saunton Golf Club , using my FullSwing KIT launch monitor and TaylorMade TP5 golf balls, both on the practice ground and out on the course.

Before I get into the launch monitor data, I wanted to give a special mention to the feel attributes of these irons. Impact provided a pleasant lively sensation but there was also a real depth to the strike that isn’t always present in the game-improvement iron category. For me, the Mizuno JPX 923 Hot Metal is still the gold standard in terms of feel in this genre, but quite honestly, when coupled with some excellent turf interaction, the C524 iron is not a million miles behind.

Launch monitor data was pretty strong across the board, with ball speed and distance competitive with just about anything else. With the 7-iron coming in at 29˚ it sits within the higher end of its peers loft-wise but still managed to produce a ball speed of 129.3mph for me with a mid-low launch and spin of 15.5˚ and 5412rpm respectively, which culminated in a healthy carry number of 188 yards. 

I did notice a slight right tendency in flight compared to some other game improvement irons which tend to feature more of a draw bias if anything, and I wonder whether that has anything to do with the additional toe weighting. It wasn't too severe, however, just something to note.

The Hot Launch C524 irons come with a stock steel option of the True Temper Elevate MPH95 shaft in R or S flex, and there are more weight and flex options with the Aldila Ascent PL stock graphite option. There are also three sizes of Lamkin grips to choose from.

Overall, I was very pleased with the performance and feel of the Tour Edge Hot Launch C524 irons, and when you factor in the price tag, I think there is some exceptional value for money to be had. In terms of raw performance data, I would feel comfortable putting them up against anything else in the game improvement category and be very confident they would hold their own.
