I just Googled it and a couple of scam detector websites described similar things about coupons and presentations:-

https://www.scam-detector.com/article/airline-free-tickets-and-vouchers/

https://reviewestores.com/2021/04/05/travel-expo/

Have you contacted local or State Consumer Advice or Consumer Protection authorities where you live to enquire

Since it is late Friday evening, We will be taking your advice first thing on Monday morning.

We were told that we would not have to buy anything.!We thought we would check them out but...

These things sound good but there is always a catch.

Those were our sentiments in the beginning but thought we would give it a try. i guarantee This will not happen again1

I attended a Travel Expo 2021 at the Chattnoogan Hotel on September 24, 2021. After an hour and a half presentation we spent another 45 minutes with a salesman who was trying to sell us on the company's vacation package. We were finally given our "free" travel voucher. When we tried to use it they charged a $50 "activation" fee and then directed us to the third party provider who was going to charge another $398 for "taxes and fees." I went back to the seminar the following day to give them a chance to explain. Bottom line is that it is a scam and they know it. I was able to warn two couples who left and saved themselves a couple of wasted hours.

travel time 2022 seminar reviews

It's very easy for sales people to make promises verbally, but the devil is in the detail and it's very difficult to prove what was said later on.

The bottom line for me has always been that it's pretty rare to get something for nothing and I'd expect things like vouchers for future travel to come with some nasty surprises like admin fees, activation fees, taxes, and/or it just being very difficult to use them.

Not surprised to read about the experiences here. Thank you for sharing! Their invitation when straight to the recycling bin.

There's no free lunch and certainly no free (or heavily discounted) vacation.

I just received the invitation in the mail today. Thanks for the info. You saved me from wasting 2 hours of my life!

What Happened When We Decided to Follow a 'Free Vacation' Mail Offer

And this is what happened....

— -- Vacation clubs and timeshare companies are popular all over the country.

So when “Nightline” was contacted by a company promising two free airline tickets and a free hotel stay, we set out on a mission to track the anatomy of a "free vacation" runaround.

It all started when “Nightline’s” executive producer received a letter in the mail congratulating him on a free dream vacation, which included a two-night stay at any Marriott Hotel location. But when we Googled the phone number that the letter says to call to set up the trip, our search returned dozens of complaints from people who had received a similar letter.

“The problem is a lot of folks get taken in to believing something can be done simply, that they’re going to get a great deal and not understanding whenever you’re looking at timeshares or travel clubs, these are very serious real estate transactions,” said New York State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman , speaking generally about the industry.

ABC News' Rebecca Jarvis and two ABC News producers called the number and scheduled an appointment with the mystery company to try to claim the free trip. The person on the phone told us we needed to attend a 90-minute presentation and we would have to pay the taxes and luggage fees the airlines charges for the airline tickets, but otherwise, we were told the vacation was free.

So two ABC News producers, who pretended to be a married couple, put on hidden cameras and went to the presentation, which was at a hotel in Brooklyn, to pick up the tickets.

As the seminar started, the presenter began name-dropping, “our partners Marriott,” “our partners, Viking River Cruises.”

Schneiderman said, in his experience, "We frequently find folks who ... have no qualms about abusing the names of legitimate businesses, so be careful."

We later asked Marriott and other "partners" that the company named whether they were really affiliated with this outfit. All declined to comment for this story, but said they were looking into it.

The seminar was like a relentless sales pitch, with a man named James, who was leading it, congratulating the group for qualifying for these free gifts.

“I’d like to congratulate and welcome each and every one of you lovely folks to this presentation about our company,” he said. “This afternoon, come in and claim your all-expense paid trip to the French Polynesia, and the $5,000 spending.”

James offered vacations for a steal, but only if we were willing to hand over thousands of dollars to join the company’s travel club.

“If this program can't save you one nickel, then I suggest that you don’t buy,” James told the group. “But everybody in this room, it sounds like you've done a little traveling, so you will be very impressed with what I’m going to share with you.”

At the end of the seminar, James’ associates came in to close the sale. Even though our two producers made it very clear that they were there to claim the free trip they were promised and nothing more, it didn't seem to make a difference.

Another salesperson, named Robert, came over to check in with our undercover producers. Ninety minutes had passed, and still there was no sign of those tickets. When it became apparent our producers were not willing to sign up for the travel club, the sales team moved them to three different locations, to talk to three different sales people, apparently hoping to get them to sign up anyway.

Avoid, a long wait before the wrong answer!

Avoid, it will take weeks before they answer your claim and then get the answer wrong! Our flight was cancelled 30 minutes before departure. EasyJet booked us a new flight for the next day. We claimed for lost accommodation (at the destination) and delay expenses. TravelTime took over 30 days to refuse the claim quoting the exclusion in delay reason 1 which says: '(this does not include a travel carrier’s cancellation prior to your departure date)'. We were delayed not cancelled and even if the trip was cancelled then it was cancelled on the day of departure, not before! The exclusion does not apply. Also note that if you have a late flight then you might practically have no delay insurance at all with this policy/interpretation! If your flight was due at 00:15 and the gate notice becomes 'flight cancelled' at 23:45 say. We now have to wait 8 weeks before complaining to the ombudsman.

Very poor customer service

Took out travel insurance with this company. On returning home I wanted to make a claim regarding lost luggage. They refused to assist saying all claims are dealt with my another company. Very poor customer service, happy to take your payment but that's where their involvement ends.

This company are getting official 5

This company are getting official defacto 5 stars..based on facts not opinion from travel insurance companies...also they are getting top reviews on other sites ...so something smells here...I just got a fantastic deal from them ..better than all the others

What a complete rip off company stay clear..after sending every document they asked for .for flight delay and lost luggage .they denied recieving them despite sent recorded delivery and was signed for..7 months on NOTHING no reply to emails ..heard other reports of these clowns just don't bother taking out insurance with these incompetent fools.. They have no intention of dealing with paying out..but they will gladly take your money...LOOK ELSEWHERE GUYS.!!

Helpful at rescheduling

I can’t review from a claims point of view - but I had a trip postponed, and then cancelled due to covid and they were incredibly helpful the whole way through, first at moving my dates of coverage for a very small fee, and then for refunding me for all but a reasonable admin fee once the trip was cancelled All email replies were prompt and friendly - and they always picked up the phone! no idea who everyone else here was dealing with

Truly Terrible Travel Insurance

Getting a policy was very quick and easy through Money Supermarket but actually making a claim has been a nightmare. I submitted a claim and all of the required documentation two weeks ago and have had no response at all. They are impossible to contact - the emails are never responded to and the phone calls are never answered. I would avoid this company at all costs.

We booked insurance pre-virus for a holiday in June. I had to make one minor adjustment to a Date of Birth and they re-issued the whole insurance based on the new date making it post their Virus policy. They took all their phone lines down and do not respond to mails, despite several attempts. A terrible company and terrible way to treat customers especially in these times. AVOID.

Careful about confusing names

I have no idea about Traveltime (as in traveltime.co.uk) but like the reviewer of 18_oct I was confused as to why reviews here seemed so bad for travel insurance firm I wanted to check out. So I wanted to point out these reviews seen here are for traveltime.co.uk which is NOT the five star "TravelTime Insurance" I have no affiliation to either

Date of experience : November 09, 2021

Zero stars more like !

Unfortunately I am unable to put zero stars which is what this company deserves. “ When is insurance not really insurance” ......when it’s with Travel Time Insurance ! Purchased Premium Plus Insurance. Wish I hadn’t bothered as not covered for flight cancellation. This was certainly not made clear at purchase. They take hours and hours to answer the phone. I wouldn’t want to be abroad and desperate for help !! No customer services whatsoever. Basically scammers. Buyer beware...don’t bother with.them. If you pay for insurance then you want to actually be insured and you won’t be with this lot !

Not a cheap option when you get nothing for your money!

I am yet another reviewer who regrets not being able to give less than one star. Had to cancel holiday because the government changed the Covid regulations for returning to the Uk, 9 hours before we were due to travelsuch that we could not satisfy the new conditions legally if we travelled. Travel Time rejected our claim on the basis that the policy did not provide for that SPECIFIC event.

AVOID took a policy out way ahead of the pandemic even starting sent an email and claim on 20 April, Finally had a response today 19 June, nothing about claim but offering me a refund on my policy if I confirm to them I will not claim and cancel my policy. I now have to reply saying I want to claim which will take another 2 months to be read! Steer clear of this company

Do not waste your money buying travel insurance with these people. Made a claim several months ago. They accepted the claim and then later said they no longer underwrite it whatever that means ! Then then gave me details of another company to contact and they have not responded to me

Date of experience : January 18, 2022

Stay clear!

They DO NOT reply to Emails or phone calls. Wanted to change date of travel but have given up and will take out a new policy with a reputable company. I am glad I found out how they operate before I travelled, as it would have been a disaster if I required there services in an emergency. Hopefully they go under as they do not deserve peoples hard earned money.

Absolutely disgraceful company

Absolutely disgraceful company. Here we are, mid-July, and I’m still waiting on a response to emails sent as far back as May. They are also not answering phones. I purchased a travel policy in February but it was unusable due to the Covid situation. I have been trying to either get a refund or change the policy dates. Do not use this bunch of amateurs if you want a decent service. I dread to think of the situation anyone would be left in if they had to try to contact them whilst in trouble on holiday.

Date of experience : July 12, 2020

No communication following claim

My wife was admitted into hospital for a hip operation and we were forced to cancel our holiday. I made a claim to Traveltime and have now waited a month with no response other than an acknowledgment. I phoned them and was told it would be dealt with as a priority, now I cant get through to anyone despite hanging on for hours listening to inane music!!!!!!!!!

Date of experience : July 27, 2017

I usually go with the big providers but I decided to try smaller one as the reviews were good. Overall dreadful, before travelling one of our family had a change in medical condition so I wanted to infirm them and if aplicable cover any additional premium. The phone just rang and rang over days. We left a lmessage.... no reply. I wrote as We were Travelling in 2 weeks and we’re told it would be 7 weeks for a reply. I continued to try explaining we would be on holiday and needed confirmation of cover. I could a reply 2 weeks after returning saying that we need to provide more info (already provided) I complained and the basically just said fill out the additional medical details if you like. Back to the big providers for me!

Date of experience : September 04, 2020

BEING CHEAP IS NOT ALWAYS BEST

What a joke this company is. I had to cancel my holiday the same day I was due to fly. I got all the evidence required which I had to pay for. The response was we can’t refund you accommodation fees as it’s a time share and we can’t refund your flight fees unless you get a written letter from Jet2 that they haven’t refunded you money despite it clearly written in their terms and conditions Ask yourself why are they so cheap, and my problems won’t affect you unless you need to make a claim. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED

Date of experience : December 03, 2021

DO NOT USE DO NOT USE

I purchased a yearly policy for traveltime and unfortunately had to make a claim. This claim has been submitted to them over 6 months ago and they do not answer the phone or emails. The policy is not worth the paper it is written on. Please do not use this company if you want a reliable and safe policy look elseware.

Date of experience : September 26, 2022

Excellent customer service I gave wrong email twice, but was quickly sent documents to correct email can't fault at all would definitely use again.

We have been using Travel Time…value for money

We have been using Travel Time Insurance for a few years without any problems. I chose this company after looking for many hours at other website companies. After declaring medical needs it was still a reasonable price which we were happy with, hence I booked a holiday and have used ever since. Also you are kept updated with useful emails on a regular basis.

Great travel insurance

I have bought my policy from TravelTime for the past few years, very competitive pricing and everything is clear. Followed their advice and booked travel insurance as soon as I booked my holiday. They are very clear with medical conditions. I would recommend them to everyone.

I have used Ian’s travel insurance…

I have used Ian’s travel insurance company twice and gained a very reasonable quote for insurance even though there were health conditions to accommodate. Planning 2 holidays this year and will be using the company again. Very pleased with service

Excellent service great travel…

Excellent service great travel insurance policy covers pre existing conditions. Peace of mind knowing i have a annual policy at a great reasonable price and always being kept up to date with updates and travel tips. Highly recommend.

Very user friendly site

Very user friendly site. Good communication and reasonable price for policy. Felt very secure going on holiday knowing we had good cover from Traveltime. Will definitely be using again and would recommend.

Family travel insurance

I have used this company for my travel insurance for the last few years and have never had any issues. It is simple to arrange your policy on line. The policies are very competitively priced. I had no problem making a claim one year and my claim was settled quickly. I would recommend this company to friends and family.

Date of experience : 02 August 2023

Friendly and personal service

I’ve found the company easy to deal with - they respond quickly to any requests and when I purchased my insurance the whole process was easy and straightforward. The relevant documents arrived quickly via email.

No claim made but good experience so far

As with any insurance it is difficult to give a full review until you make a claim... if you ever have to do one. However, a review based on my experience to date would be five star. I like the approach they take to engaging you and signing up was as easy as could be. The price I believe to be great too.

We took out travel insurance through…

We took out travel insurance through these and were unfortunate enough for my partner who is on the policy also to get food poisoning whilst on holiday. The claims process is impossible they divert us to csal who will not pay out even on a valid claim. All we get is we need more information which even though they have the information they requested twice they say the email came through blank. I believe this is a rip off. Please avoid unless you don’t like your money any longer

Reply from TravelTime Travel Insurance

Thank you for your Review. We have spoken to you and confirmed that your claim is being handled correctly and within the claims company's agreed service levels. You should receive your claim payment very shortly.

Good clear instructions for filling out forms etc

Used many times now with confidence. I have a few health issues and it has been easy to use the format. Would highly recommend. Thankfully not had to use the insurance due to any health problems! And hopefully never will.

Great price for great level of cover

Great price for those with pre-existing conditions. I looked elsewhere but nowhere beat the price for level of cover and covered our cruise. Second time with TravelTime.

Competitive prices!!

Competitive prices, great service, friendly helpful staff if you need to speak to anyone. I’ve been with them for the last few years and will be renewing my yearly policy later this month. Give them a try !!

Date of experience : 24 February 2023

Really helpful company

Really helpful company before and after travel and competitive pricing. Have used twice now without problems

Great company

Great company. Easy to speak to someone on the phone if needed. I had to change a medical condition on my policy before I traveled. Took five minutes. Will definitely use again.

Date of experience : 23 October 2023

Competitively priced

We have used travel time insurance for the last 3 years. Find them very competitive and easy to use..

Great price and excellent…

Great price and excellent communication. Even with one or two health problems they were very helpful and competitive

No problems claiming.

We were unfortunate enough to have to claim on our travel insurance (missed ports on a cruise) but Traveltime were great. Every week they gave us an update and within 4 weeks we received our compensation. Every time we had to call them, they answered quickly (only a few minutes of waiting). I've just ordered our next annual insurance with them too.

Do not get travel insurance with this company…

Do not get travel insurance with this company! Our son contracted impetigo on holiday and the doctor advised and gave us evidence that he must not go to the pool / communal areas. This is definitely a travel insurance claim but of course they found a way to get out of paying! Avoid at all costs!! You will not be covered!

Date of experience : 06 October 2023

Your claim sounds like it was for ‘loss of enjoyment’ which I’m afraid isn’t covered by our policies or by any travel insurance provider in the UK. If I’m wrong then please contact me via the office so that I can investigate this further. Kind regards, Darren @ TravelTime

Terrible service

Terrible service, when my flight was delayed over 12 hours I expected a claim to be a straight forward process. They fob you off to CSAL who are impossible to speak to and are it seems employed just to avoid a pay-out. When you try to speak to TravelTime Insurance they are also uncontactable unless you're speaking to sales who can neither help or put you through to claims.

TripSavvy Is Examining 2022's Biggest Travel Trends

travel time 2022 seminar reviews

Earlier this summer, I had the opportunity to hop on the inaugural sailing of Norwegian Cruise Line's Norwegian Prima , the first in a six-ship class. When I accepted my invitation to join, I knew that the Prima was loaded with a bunch of "firsts"—the first three-level racetrack at sea, the first free-fall slide, the first-ever food hall on a cruise ship. And while all of these attractions were, in a word, incredible, what first drew me in was the pickleball court.

I used to play tennis in middle school and high school, but since moving to New York, I've only picked up a racquet all of one time. So on Day One of my cruise, when half the passengers hadn't boarded yet, my mom and I took advantage of the relative emptiness of the ship and made a beeline for the pickleball court. It was caged in, the metal bars there to keep balls from flying over the ship's side, and four paddles and a couple of whiffle balls were ready for the taking. Having never played before, I thought it would be a lot like tennis, but it took a surprising bit of arm power to send the ball over the net with a resounding thwack.

Those moments with my mom, tossing the ball up in the air and shuffling up and down the court, ended up ranking among my favorites onboard the Prima. It's a good thing we went when we did: word on the ship was that it was one of the most popular activities on board, and we likely would have had to wait hours to play had we gone some other time. In fact, it was such a hit that a representative of NCL shared with TripSavvy that pickleball will be on every ship in the Prima fleet.

Truly, pickleball is seemingly taking the world by storm. It's the country's fastest-growing sport (case in point: our company now has a dedicated pickleball Slack channel), and as travel writer Lisa Davis writes in her newest feature for TripSavvy , pickleball courts have even been popping up at hotels across the U.S.

But pickleball isn't the only thing that's revolutionizing the travel space. This December, TripSavvy is looking at the hottest trends in travel. From the decline of regional airports to the rise of reunion destinations , from the resurgence of Golden Age travel to BeReal transforming the way we use social media on the road, the post-pandemic world has steered jet setting as we previously knew it in unexpected yet wonderful ways. In our newest package of features, we wanted not only to create a time capsule of 2022, but also to predict where we expect travel to be heading in the new year. We hope these stories delight, intrigue, and inspire you as you plan your 2023 travels.

New to TTG?

New agenda 2022 seminar - is travel back for good.

Sophie Griffiths

Is travel back for good? That’s the question being answered by expert speakers in the latest TTG Agenda 2022 seminar, as we once again partner with PwC UK to produce exclusive consumer and trade research examining attitudes to travel in 2022.

eCard

The first four months of 2022 have seen soaring sales and bumper bookings as customers take to the skies once again. But the war in Ukraine, rising fuel prices and a significant drop in disposable income could yet hamper demand. So how confident are industry bosses feeling about the rest of 2022? And how can we better protect the industry from future crises?

The seminar forms part of the Agenda 2022 series, and will take place on the afternoon of Thursday 28 April at 2pm. It also includes a detailed report by PwC and TTG, which will be sent out to all delegates following the event.

SIGN UP TO ATTEND HERE

The afternoon will begin with a presentation by David Trunkfield, hospitality and leisure leader, PwC UK exploring how confident consumers and the trade are feeling about travel following the easing of travel restrictions, but as concerns around the cost of living grow.

This will be followed by a session entitled Soaring sales or dampened demand? with industry bosses including Travel Counsellors managing director Kirsten Hughes, Titan Travel managing director Andy Squirrell, as well as consumer expert Guy Anker, content and operations director, wealth, at Future (parent company of Go Compare), offer their predictions for summer 2022.

The afternoon will conclude with a big interview with Michael Budge, head of Atol at the Civil Aviation Authority. In the CAA’s 50th year, he will discuss airport delays, the new Atol reform consultation this summer and Atol renewals among other issues, with attendees invited to put their own questions forward during the live Q&A.

Join us to hear advice from, and put your questions to, some of the industry’s top experts. Sessions will also be made available on-demand following the event - plus all delegates will receive an exclusive report by PwC featuring findings from the latest research.

The Agenda 2022 seminar series is open to all TTG+ members.
