Where to see santa near hatboro-horsham this christmas season, after covid-19 restrictions these past couple of years kept santa in hibernation, the big man in red is back and ready to see the kiddos..

HATBORO-HORSHAM, PA — Santa Claus will be back near Hatboro-Horsham this holiday season after a couple of years of COVID-19 restrictions that made it difficult for kids to crawl up on his lap and make their case that they’ve been good boys and girls over the last year.

Visits and pictures with Santa are at the heart of many families’ holiday traditions, but the coronavirus pandemic gave them a lump of coal. Malls and other places took social distancing measures in both 2020 and 2021 to help contain the spread of the virus, moving Santa meetups largely online.

Virtual visits are still an option in many places, but there’s nothing quite like seeing jolly old St. Nick live and in person. In the Hatboro-Horsham area, kids have several chances:

Now through Dec. 24, kids can take photos with Santa at the Willow Grove Park Mall, 2500 Moreland Road, Willow Grove.

Hours vary and reservations are being taken. Visit here for more information .

Over at the Plymouth Meeting Mall, 500 W. Germantown Avenue, Plymouth Meeting, the family can bring the pets along for portraits with the big guy in red on Mondays during the holiday season.

Hours for the family pet photo sessions are noon to 8 p.m. and reservations are accepted. Visit here for more information.

Photos with Santa are also being offered at the King of Prussia Mall in the lower level of the Plaza by Nordstroms. Photo hours vary and more information can be found here . The mall is located at 160 N. Gulph Road in King of Prussia.

The family can also visit the Montgomery Mall for photos with St. Nick. The mall is located at 230 Montgomery Mall, North Wales. Hours vary so be sure to check out the entire schedule here .

Elsewhere, Santa will be at Macy’s stores in New York City, Chicago, San Francisco, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Boston and Orlando.

JC Penney stores, including stores in the Montgomery County area, are offering professional portraits with Santa through Dec. 18.

The Christmas period is finally here, and this year Horsham has a lot to offer in terms of events! Whether you’re looking for a great Christmas market to get some shopping done, or somewhere to grab wonderful seasonal food, Horsham and its surrounding areas have something to offer this year.

We have compiled a list of some of the best Christmas events that are taking place in and around Horsham this year.

Glow Wild 2022 at Wakehurst

A short drive out of Horsham lies the beautiful grounds of Wakehurst gardens, who are once again putting on their award-winning winter lantern trail. In the evenings, you will see the gardens awash with festive lanterns and captivating lights created by leading artists.

This excellent lights show will take place on selected dates between 24th November to 1st January. Book tickets for Glow Wild .

Meet Father Christmas

This year children will have the chance to meet Father Christmas at John Lewis! Kids can also take home a LEGO or DUPLO gift and buy a photo taken with Santa.

Amberley Museum

Father Christmas is returning to Amberley Museum! On each weekend on the lead up to Christmas, children can meet the man himself – Santa – and receive a gift from him.

Santa Cruise With The Wey and Arun Canal Trust

As the days grow shorter and our thoughts turn to the festive season, the historic towns and villages of Sussex look dazzling decked in fairy lights. Visits to Christmas Markets in Sussex, where the mulled wine flows and the chestnuts roast, are sure to get you into the festive mood.

What’s on in West Sussex this Christmas?

A fabulous Christmas market is held annually in the South of England Showground. A giant snow globe, chocolate workshop and vintage carousel transform the South of England Showground into a winter wonderland. Santa will be holding court in his magical grotto and there’ll be clothing, accessories, gifts and greetings pavilions. More than 60 food stalls will tempt your tastebuds.

Stir-up Sunday, The Spread Eagle, Midhurst

Sunday 26 November 202 3 – £75 per person

Join Historic Hotel’s Executive Chef Martin Hadden on the last Sunday before advent in stirring the Christmas pudding, whilst making a wish, as he shares the secrets about how to make the perfect Christmas pud in this festive and fun workshop.

This is followed by either a delicious two-course roast lunch or a festive afternoon tea, while The Spread Eagles elves will carefully wrap and dress the puddings so that they are ready to be taken home to be cooked on Christmas Day.

The Kennels’ Christmas Market, Goodwood

02 & 03 December 2023 10:00 – 16:00 hrs

A fabulous collection of hand-picked stalls selling with local produce, festive gifts and artisan food and drink. It’s also a rare chance to buy produce from the Goodwood Estate not normally available to the public. This is a relatively small market but the stalls are excellent.

Arundel at Christmas, Arundel

Throughout December 2023

This Arundel by Candlelight has become Arundel at Christmas with a series of smaller event being held throughout December.

As always Christmas trees light-up the shops, restaurants and pubs, creating a beautiful festive scene, while in the town square stands a traditional tall Christmas tree (donated by the Duke of Norfolk’s estate).

Highlights include the Christmas Farmer’s Market, Festive Sundays with roaming street entertainment, seasonal menus at our restaurants and cafes, Christmas performances by local choirs, festive swims at Arundel Lido, and, of course, the opportunity to visit Santa’s grotto.

Royal Pavilion Ice Rink, Brighton

With the Royal Pavilion as a backdrop, this has to be one of the most beautiful ice rinks in England. The ice is powered entirely by green energy. There’s also a rink side bar and restaurant serving warming snacks, a selection of drinks, mulled wine and hot chocolate with marshmallows. 

Tickets  are £18 for adults (12 and over), £14 for under 12s with discounts for group bookings and lower prices for off peak. Check the website for more details and to book your tickets at the  Royal Pavilion Ice RInk  website.

Brighton Christmas Festival and Market

Friday 18 November – 24 December 2023

The main festival and Christmas Market take place in the  Old Steine  and new  Valley Gardens  that run from The Royal Pavilion to St Peter’s Church. However, the event is city-wide event with many popular attractions and venues joining in. 

With over 150 festive stalls, the festival includes two purpose-built entertainment venues, live shows, fairground and the chance to visit Santa’s Workshop.

There will be an Après Ski zone for adults with mulled wine and all the Alpine feels. Brighton Christmas Festival and Market will be a sparkling winter attraction in Sussex this winter.

Brighton Christmas Festival is  FREE  to enter for you to wander around, browse the Christmas Markets and soak up the festive atmosphere. Ticketed attractions including Santa’s Workshop will be on sale soon. Advance booking is recommended for these.

Father Christmas and Christmas Market in Battle

Saturday 25 November 2023

At 1:50 Father Christmas’s sleigh is escorted with a musical parade down the High Street to his Grotto at Memorial Hall. Father Christmas sees children in his Grotto from 2:15 till 4:45. Tickets on the door only.

There are refreshments, entertainment and Christmas market in the hall. Children’s rides take place on the Abbey Green and at 5pm the lights are switched on by Father Christmas in his sleigh.

There’s free parking all day in the town’s Rother District Council car parks and the Battle Abbey car park.

Battle Gala Night and Late Night Shopping

Late Night Shopping Thursday 07 December 2023

With traders in fancy dress, choirs and bands all around town and Santa’s grotto in the Almonry, you’re guaranteed a magical time at Battle’s popular annual gala night and late night shopping!

Sample what the unique, independent shops and cafes have to offer. The shops will stay open until 8pm on Thursdays in the run up to Christmas. There are a range of unusual and independent shops in Battle High Street which are worth check out.

Many shops also provide online shopping and on Thursdays and Saturdays throughout December there is free car parking in the town in the Rother and Abbey car parks.

Designer and Maker Fair at Charleston near Firle

Charleston Farmhouse near Alfriston in East Sussex opens its eighteenth Hay Barn for their Designer and Makers Fair. Discover some of the South’s finest designers and creators with over 30 stalls selling beautifully crafted gifts.

A selection of natural wreaths, garlands and Christmas trees are for sale. There are various outdoor stalls and activities so dress warmly.

Caccia & Tails café will be serving Italian-inspired festive treats to fuel your retail therapy.

With over 40 craft and designer makers selling their wares within the house, garden and outbuildings at Great Dixter this is a lovely festive event. There are also demonstrations, food tasting and live music.

What time can i arrive.

You are welcome to arrive on site as early as 8:45am when we open to start taking part in the activities.

The time slot you have booked refers to your sleigh ride time. Please arrive at the sleigh ride station 15 minutes prior to your departure. Due to the nature of this activity, we have to work to a very tight schedule, because of this we are unfortunately unable to delay the sleigh ride. If you arrive late we may be able to reschedule your slot subject to availability.

We recommend 4-5 hours to complete the full experience.

How long does each activity take?

Activity Timings: 

• Sleigh ride, storytelling, photos and Build a bear/ Toy shop: 55 Minutes 
• Gingerbread decorating: 30 minutes
• Reindeer food making: 15 minutes
• Reindeer talks: 10 minutes
• Elves forest: 5 minutes
• Post house: 10 minutes
• Cinderelfa: 25 minutes 
• Circus: 25 minutes, 
• 3D cinema: 15 mins 
• Elf hunt: 45 minutes (this can be done throughout the day)

Can the Sleigh Ride tickets be used at any time of the day?

Unfortunately not. When you book online you select a time and date for which to book tickets. The time you book is in relation to your sleigh ride which has to be booked so that we are able to manage the capacity of each sleigh.

Alternatively, when you buy your tickets at the kiosk in person, you will be booking for the next available time slot during that day.

Please arrive at the farm at least 30 minutes before your sleigh ride time and at the sleigh ride station at least 15 minutes before your allotted departure time. If you miss your booked time slot, you will be asked to wait for the next ride on which there are spaces free.  On very busy days, there may not be any further spaces available, meaning that you could end up not taking the ride at all. Please do make sure you arrive for your booked slot.

You are welcome to arrive earlier than 30 minutes before your sleigh ride time. The park opens at 8.45am.

Things to Do in Horsham

The beautiful market town of Horsham has plenty to keep you occupied in the town centre and surrounding areas. If you are looking for things to do with kids, then there are a couple of walks around Horsham including Chesworth Farm as well as exploring Leechpool & Owlbeech Woods.

The park in the centre of town is a really lovely haven and has a children’s play area as well as a swimming pool, tennis courts and a Sensory garden. For evening entertainment, you can visit the Everyman cinema and The Capitol, for theatre and film as well as plenty of bars and restaurants only a short walk away. Saturday is a great time to visit Horsham as they have a weekly market right in the centre of town, with options for delicious food and local produce and a lovely buzzing atmosphere.

Further afield, Leonardslee Gardens is well worth a visit, not only to see the wallabies but also to visit the vineyard and acres of lakes, paths and gardens. This is also a great time to visit in winter when they have the spectacular Winter light trail.

Chesworth Farm Walk (3 miles/5km)

If you are looking for a walk that starts and ends in Horsham then this will take you past Chesworth Farm, through fields and back through Denne Park allowing you to see great countryside views away from the bustle of the town centre. It is the perfect length to do before grabbing a coffee in Horsham and is ideal for dogs too.

Walk around Horsham Park

Horsham Park is lovely to walk around – you can visit the Sensory Garden, Human nature garden, Kaya Cafe for a bite to eat, the tennis courts, children’s play area or the outdoor gym equipment.

Also, you can join Horsham parkrun in Horsham park on a Saturday morning at 9am in the summer months! In the winter months, the parkrun moves to Southwater Country Park.

Go shopping in Swan Walk

There are lots of shops to choose from in Swan Walk including Accesorize, Marks & Spencer, Boots, Fat Face, The Body Shop and Thorntons.

Visit Leonardslee Gardens

For a stunning woodland walk, visit Leonardslee Gardens, where you can enjoy many walks through the 240-acres of gardens, lakes and forest areas as well as seeing wallabies.

Visit Warnham Local Nature Reserve

Warnham Nature Reserve is located a mile or so North of Horsham, and consists of 92 acres of different habitats, including the 17 acre Warnham Millpond. There is plenty of wildlife to spot, including Grey Herons, Kingfisher, woodpeckers and it is a popular spot for butterflies in the summer.

There is also a Visitor Centre and the Herons Rest, a small café serving drinks and snacks. There is a small admission charge of £3.50.

Watch a film at The Capitol

The Capitol was re-opened in 2003 and includes a Theatre, a Studio Theatre and 2 cinema screens. The cinema shows latest release films, as well as independent films and National Theatre live productions.

Watch a film at the Everyman Cinema

Everyman cinemas offer a boutique and luxurious cinema experience. Their seating is made up of sofas for more comfortable viewing and they offer table service. You can order food and drinks before the film starts which will be brought to your table.

Go for a cocktail at Kaya

Kaya is an independent café set in Horsham Park, and they make a range of delicious cocktails to try including Espresso martinis, Passion Fruit Daiquiris and Watermelon Sugar High cocktails.

Enjoy in their Orangery amongst hanging succulents and chandeliers, in the Lounge on their plush velvet sofas, or outside in the undercover Pergola.

Visit the Horsham Market

The Horsham Market usually runs every Thursday and Saturday at the Carfax from 9am to 5pm. There are stalls selling street food, local produce, flowers and a range of arts & craft items.

Visit Huxley's Birds of Prey Centre and Gardens

Huxley’s Birds of Prey Centre is located approximately one mile South-West of Horsham.

The residents at Huxley’s include owls, eagles, falcons, hawks and buzzards. Here, you have the opportunity to ‘Meet an Owl’ and also watch displays, which showcase how the different birds hunt in the wild.

There are benches located around the gardens where you can enjoy views of the Japanese water feature, lavender, dahlia, palms, tree ferns and much more.

Take a swing at Horsham Golf Driving Range

Horsham Golf is home to a heated and floodlit driving range. If you download the Awesome Golf app, you can track your shots on a large screen in the bay and associated data to help you improve. If you’re just looking for fun, you can also play on virtual golf courses and take part in fun challenges.

They also offer coaching if you’re looking to improve on your game.

Cycle the Downs Link

The Downs Link is a 33-mile long route between Guildford in the North and Shoreham-by-Sea in the South. The route follows the old railway line and is therefore mostly flat, and it is also largely off-road, making it the perfect spot for a relaxing bike ride.

The Downs Link does not run directly through Horsham but it does pass through Christ’s Hospital, which is a few miles South-West of Horsham.

We recommend parking at Southwater Country Park, which is just under 10 mins away from Horsham.

From here, you can cycle North to Rudgwick which is approximately 12km, or to Cranleigh which is approximately 18.7km.

Alternatively, you can cycle South to Partridge Green which is approximately 7.7km or Bramber which is approximately 19.1km.

Go for a swim in The Pavilions in the Park

The Pavilions in the Park is home to a leisure pool if you fancy a more relaxed swim, which has an indoor and outdoor area (the outdoor pool is heated so is available all year round). There is a waterfall, bubble beds, jets and a flume slide, which make it ideal for children. There is also a 25m long competition pool if you are looking to get a few more lengths in!

Play Tennis at Horsham Park Tennis

If you are looking for something a bit more active, why not pick up a racquet and head to the tennis courts at Horsham Park.

Family memberships for the full year start at only £47.50 or a standard court hire is £6.25 per hour (£11.25 for floodlit courts). There are four all-weather courts which are available from 7am – 10pm,  7 days a week.

Visit Horsham Museum & Art Gallery

Horsham Museum & Art Gallery has many exhibitions and galleries and has recently had a refurbishment. The galleries include the art gallery, medieval gallery, changes in Horsham town, watercolour gallery, craft gallery, ethnography gallery and also has a museum garden.

Horsham Riverside Walk (13 miles/21km)

Horsham Riverside Walk commences at the Warnham Nature Reserve and takes you on a circular loop around the outskirts of Horsham following the riverside.

The route is waymarked in both a clockwise and anti-clockwise direction and passes through Leechpool & Owlbeech Woods and Chesworth Farm.

Explore Leechpool & Owlbeech Woods

Situated just on the outskirts of Horsham, Leechpool & Owlbeech Woods are 53 acres of ancient woodland. Within the woods, there is the option of five signposted walking trails to choose from exploring different habitats and there is also a sculpture trail.

There is a free car park off Harwood Road.

Visit the Knepp Estate

Looking for places to see Father Christmas in Sussex? The great news is that there are lots of Santa’s Grottos and places to see Father Christmas. It’s one of the most festive things to do in Sussex with kids.

There are a couple of exciting Christmas light trails in Essex this year. You can also wander around some of the towns and villages in Essex and check out their light displays. If you happen to be heading into London, here is where you can find the Christmas light displays in London .

We love a Christmas market. We usually try to go to one of the European Christmas markets each year but there are also some fantastic Christmas markets in the UK .

They are a great place to pick up some handmade Christmas gifts. We usually grab a hot chocolate or mulled wine, select a decoration for the Christmas tree and soak up the festive atmosphere.
